Really pleasant casual dining experience - we went for date night and it was a nice atmosphere for an easy going night. Sake was great alongside our many dishes - favs were eggplant and sashimi dishes! Parking is now free for an hour at the cpp next door I believe? Otherwise pretty convenient access. Fresh and well cut sashimi, exotic selection of taste. Some things are not just great like the scallop but I think it's just because it didn't suit our palates. Otherwise, the beef tataki was excellent, cooked perfectly, interesting take on the octopus slices. They had ootoro sashimi at the time with good price for 50$ per 5 slices (pretty thick), though not the ootoro that I expected which I thought would melt right away on my tongue, these onese tasted like really soft and fatty tuna sashimi. Still good. Just not the ootoro I wanted. Otherwise, good service, love the atmosphere, in house sake is actually not bad, I can say this as we actually don't like sake. But theirs wasn't too bad at all. Will come here again for sure in the future

This restaurant should be given 5 stars. It is on par with our Snap Shades. This is one of the best japanese restaurants in Australia which can take your palate on a journey.

Such a beautifully decorated and cosy Japanese restaurant. I was so excited they had Kirin beer on tap! The raw dishes were high quality, delicious and great value. You have to get the truffle edamame, beef tataki, salmon truffle plum, kingfish yuzu, duck breast and the octopus shiso. Soo good!

Been here a few times and always had a very pleasant & satisfying dining experience. Food is amazingly tasty (plenty of options for vegetarians too!), place is cozy, great variety of sake, and top notch service!! Had the privilege of sitting on the teppan bar, very recommended! Definitely one of the best Japanese restaurants in Perth!

We had a beautiful meal at Kukan Izakaya. From the truffle edamame right through to the miso ice cream the food was superb, and the saké amazingly good. . Strongly recommend the sharing plates when there’s a group of you. Part of the pleasure is talking about the wonderful dishes that everyone is eating. It is a modest little restaurant but the food is way beyond expectations. Thank you for a lovely evening.

Had a quiet dinner on a weekday. Food was good but nothing too memorable. We did enjoy the udon and the chicken karaage.

Really enjoyed the finer dining experience in such a relaxed and homely atmosphere. Been back a couple of times now and love how chef takes our feedback and adds more wonderful dishes to the menu. Looking forward to seeing what comes next :)

Fantastic little Japanese restaurant! My daughter is really picky when it comes to food, but she absolutely loves the udon...Been back several times and the food is always top notch. Best sashimi we have had in Perth!

My partner and I don't usually leave reviews but we were blown away by Kukan Izakaya! They deliver phenomenal dishes with a beautiful blend of Japanese and Korean cuisine. The pictures below speak for themselves and it's difficult to choose only a few to recommend when everything was so delicious. Friendly staff, great pricing. We'll be back soon!<br/>

It seems like Perth is getting so many new Japanese restaurants and Kukan Izakaya is a new addition ! We were so pleasantly surprised that it had all the right flavours without the exorbitant price tags. My husband and I are so glad we are the first ones to experience this restaurant before anybody knows this just yet. The best dish we had was the heirloom tomatoes (the basic salad but who knew it’d be this good!) and octopus karaage. We would like to try their sashimi and tempura next time!
