Review Daisy's Milkbar - Petersham

Princess Greedyguts
This cute American diner style cafe is as pretty as a daisy with friendly, smiling staff, great tasting food, a good selection of sweet treats daily & one of the most delectable old school millshakes or thickshakes. You will be addicted to come back and try all of their shakes! The breakfast burrito is delicious & hearty, love the generous portion of pesto eggs & the jaffles are a great snack or light meal. Love their house made wagon wheels and rocky road and slices and pies and those shakes!!!

If you're pushing 35 and up, Daisy's Milk Bar will take you straight back to your Redskins eating, FADS smoking, Double Dip snorting childhood spent at your local milk bar! The prices may have gone up but the memories will come flooding back! We ordered the caramel and rocky road milk shakes. Both were so delicious that Miffy dived in! The rocky road was the "milkshake of the week" but it was that good that should become a permanent fixture of Daisy's, next to the multicolored plastic door strip curtain! For lunch we had breakfast! The breakfast burrito was packed with eggs, chorizo, bacon, potato and homemade goodness! The Daisy's Breakfast had homemade cheesy tater tots! Worth it just for these! But the sausage, baked beans and everything else on the massive plate was delicious! The staff are friendly, the food is awesome, the music is great! (Kenny Loggins - Danger Zone is in their mix!) Lot's of Uber Eats were going out the door but the staff looked after the patrons. They've definitely taken on the feedback from past reviews. We'll definitely be back again.... after Miffy has a bath!

Slow service and no refreshment for the clients. I like the place and the atmosphere is lovely. But they really need to consider to invest in a ceiling fan or at least make the service quicker (more than 30min to have the food and it was not that busy). Pretty sure that they will work on it and improving it because they have great potential.

Brekky on a Sunday morning. Coffee was decent and came quickly. Chorizo and egg Burrito was nice if very Oily. Avocado Toast was solid but nothing spectacular. Cool fun decor and worth checking out, will be back for lunch soon

Good food portion sizes for the price. Food great tasting, good vegan options. The thickshake was amazing, one of the best I've ever had. Staff are friendly, the atmosphere is relaxed and inviting. Will definitely be coming back soon!

You must visit this place. Not just once. But again and again and again. The food, the service, the atmosphere, the uniqueness... It's all here. I could write an entire essay about why you should visit this shop, but I'd just be wasting your time. So just stop reading and just go see for yourself. This is a hidden gem that's hidden in plain sight along a heavy traffic section of Stanmore Rd. I can't believe I've been driving past the shop for years and never realised it's been there. It's kids friendly too. Parking around on the side streets.

With service as sweet as the menu, Daisy’s Milkbar is a delight from the moment you walk through the door. Serving sizes for main meals are generous and reasonably priced. The pavlova milkshake is a real highlight, but it’s next to impossible to pick a single favourite menu item. Daisy’s Milkbar is more than just a place to eat - it’s a sensory experience.

The food was super tasty and atmosphere nostalgic. Definitely coming back to try the new cocktails and play a few rounds of Uno (-:

+3 standard starting points for food.
+1 perfect mix of nostalgia and kitsch cool
+1 theme executed perfectly in the food to decor
5. Dreamy.

Pancakes so fluffy. Lemon curd so smooth and sharp. And did I mention the deep fried poached eggs?

Noise level: normal.
Accessibility: they have steps inside but you can be seated out front.

Cute little retro cafe - small space, small but well chosen menu and lovely helpful staff. A bit out of the way but would come again if nearby.

Cute cafe to spend weekend with lots of toys and good food! I try their wagon wheels and beef risoles! Feels like I get back to my childhood age. Playing while eating is one of my favourite But every parents would not let us do it as a child 🤣🤣 . Love to be here!

Cute place which has been on my bucket list to go for the last year. Was disappointed though as food took over 45 minutes to arrive for simple dishes like mac n cheese and a jaffle. Milkshake never arrived after asking 3 times. Found it quiet odd for a business that's been around for a while.

Overall good experience. A+ for the decor and the retro vibe. We ordered the jam lamington milkshake, lime thick shake, beef and Brie burger and fish finger sanga. Each item was interesting however felt they just slightly fell short of the mark in terms of wow factor. The beef burger was dry, the shakes weren’t icy cold (just room temperature) and the price is just a tad over. We will be back though!

Love to share all your smiley faces guys, major disappointment from me, started with a terrible waitress with black curly hair with an attitude that nearly made me walk out there and then, she clearly didn't want to be there. Also i was the only customer at 12.35pm ( just me ) i guess i know why it was empty.. Anyway ordered a burger and asked for nothing on it (this caused all sorts of confusion to the waitress and more attitude) so i still got billed $18 even though all i had was a cheese burger (without) the lot, no bacon egg etc, they could have shaved off $2 at least.
i wont be back, and i suggest you go elsewhere..seriously

Such a cute place that brings you back to your childhood.

There were checkered tablecloths and retro boardgames you can play with while you are there.

The food is amazing as well. We got:
- bacon and egg roll
- veggie burger
- mac and cheese jaffa (this wasn't on the menu but I asked and the kitchen made it especially for me and it was amazing!)
- chocolate fudge milkshake

We also got a bag of lollies on the way out.

I love this place.

I have been dreaming about coming here for ages, and my wish was finally granted!!! My inner child was awakened by the bright decoration and candy bar, and the retro music spread positive vibes. We ordered the mushroom burger ($14), mac n cheese($8), red hot Benny brekky ($18.50), a banana split ($15) and two milkshakes: the pavlova and vegan shake. The mac n cheese was a big portion for its price and a great comfort food, and the eggs Benedict was unique with its sriracha sauce and deep fried eggs. Along with the smoked salmon, avocado and spinach, it had all of my favourite things on a plate. :) The milkshakes brought back childhood memories but were tad too sweet for me to finish, and the banana split was the star of the show, with the gourmet icecream and caramel. This is the perfect location to go with friends!

Ordered meal + coffee via Uber-eats from Daisy's Milk Bar. Sadly I can't review the food as my order never arrived. My order was confirmed as "delivered" via the uber app.. On ringing Daisy's Milk Bar to enquire / follow up with my order, unfortunately the staff member I spoke to was most unhelpful and I got the distinct impression whilst talking to him that he couldn't have cared less that I hadn't received my meal. I hung up after confirming with the staff member that he would at least be calling the driver to enquiry what had happened to my order and then would call me back (the uber app malfunctioned and dropped the drivers details so I couldn't access them). I never received a call back though (I tried calling back but my calls were now being diverted to v.mail), so ended up having to drive over to D.Milk bar. On arriving and confronting staff member he proceeded to act in the same unconcerned manner as he had on the phone, which was infuriating plus it didn't help that I was extremely hungry (hangry) at this stage. ;p
I do understand uber is an external company and that it wasn't D.M.B's fault that the order never arrived. However, I was still their customer and they handled my situation poorly. Definitely an unfortunate and negative customer experience and it is a shame I won't get to try their food + milkshakes etc as I won't be going there again after that treatment.

A bit on the pricey side, but what isn't these days THOUGH it was definitely worth it.

Breakfast burrito was perfect alongside a perfect cookies n cream milkshake. Coffee was just right. Service was quick, happy and genuine.

We'll be back!
Adorable little diner, gets busy very quickly so I recommend making a booking. Affordable prices and some nostalgic dishes like mac n cheese + FAIRY BREAD! Try the deluxe milkshakes, make sure you read the chalkboard for special of the day.

The staff were friendly but the food took ages. I ordered a simple ham and cheese jaffle and a sausage roll - took over half an hour to arrive

The best recreation of the classic eggs benny I've ever experienced!! Service was great and all the staff were quite friendly. Lovely, homely atmosphere with classic Aussie tracks pumping from the stereo. Highly recommended!'

Haven't been here in a while but I went here on a weekday, there weren't many people in at all. I ordered the Daisy's veggie breakfast, which took about aaaages to come out, a table of four got all their meals well before me. Someone came over a told me it would be out soon, that a mistake had been made and they were just fixing it up, then took another 10 or 15mins, and when it did come out it looked really unappetizing, everything kind of dumped into a plate with only one piece of bread... For a $21 big breakfast?! This may all sound petty but I didn't really feel inspired to come back waiting 45mins and paying that much for a pretty unsatisfying meal :(
Yaaas! You know its a great bacon and egg roll when the egg yolk is dripping down your hands. Super fun place and really lovely coffee. You get the vibe that the owners are well loved in the area. Will be back to try the pesto eggs!
Eatwithyourmouth
Great prices, yummy food with real butter, real meat, and real tinned beans/spaghetti/whatever else. Milkshakes excellent. Coffee good, good service, crap location, sometimes pretentious patrons, has a 50's milk bar theme but everyone goes here for the food. Did I say it is yummy?

This place is very kitsch, and visually very overpowering. Other than this criticism, I came here 2 weeks ago and the food is very nice and very tasty. I would love to visit this place again

Fantastic little cafe that feels like time warp to my childhood. Amazing food, and that lolly wall is so hard to resist... Highly recommended!

Heard good things about Daisy's and finally went for breakfast. Veggie breakfast burrito did not disappoint! Staff were lovely and coffee was good. Will return!

The name says it all. The Daisy;s Milkbar is nothing but fun, cute and playful. Our favourite is the pastel coloured wooden booths and the big daisy-shaped neon sign on the wall. Friendly and bubbly staff, food was soso though. It's definitely a cute and lovely place to catch up with girlfriends

What did we order?
1. Pav a nice day (Pavlova ice cream, crushed meringue, lemon curd, fruit and cream)
2. Knickerbocker Glory (Jelly, fruit and ice cream with raspberry melba sauce)

Waited over 50 minutes for a bacon and egg roll on a Sunday before I cancelled my order and went elsewhere. Arguably it's Sunday and they were busy, I get that. However, when you see over 10 orders leave the store via uber eats and foodora, you have to question why the loyal customers who have left their house to come and dine are the ones being punished. If you can't cater for the on-site demand, don't expand your workload to only exacerbate the problem.

Delicious shakes and a nice breakfast menu. The pesto eggs were well made and I recommend the breakfast burrito which was flavoursome! The peanut butter choc shake was so yum! Friendly staff too. Will be back one day.

Yeah definitely enjoyed my time here, so much so that I think I'll be back sooner than later

A really cool down to earth great vibe place that doesn't take itself to seriously and is about the atmosphere as much as the food

Service was very friendly all the more making this an enjoyable experience

The exceptional homemade banana and coconut bread that you cant ever get anywhere else. I'll def go back to try other foods. Interesting menu.

I came to Daisys milkbar a while ago. I ordered a toastie and lime milkshake, both of which were delicious. This place has such an old school milkbar feel to it but it can fill up quick! I would love to come back and try the desserts because the dessert menu looked amazing! It did take a while for our food to come out however service was friendly.

That hidden milk bar close to the city! Step back in the future when you enter the doors of the cafe with huge milk bar writing. The staff there are super friendly and offer good suggestions on the menu. When we went I ordered the pulled pork jaffle toastie! Jam packed with flavour and soft slow roasted pork. Filling, but in a good way. Wife got a burger which she was satisfied with which was packed with flavour!

The highlights were the drinks. I got a vanilla thick shake which was in a metal tin! Haven't had them in years - it was certainly thick and required two straws and my wife got a Jaffa milkshake which was also really really yum.
For fun dining with a 50's retro vibe, head to Daisy's.

The menu offers everything from burgers, sandwiches and jaffles to pancakes and sundaes, there is something for everyone.

Came here a while ago and it was quite a pleasant experience. The interior was absolutely delightful with hints of retro highlights and warming aesthetics. The service was also very accommodating with lovely staff whom were easy to chat with. The food was okay, and personally we thought the emphasis was placed more so on the "milkbar" culture rather than the food, as it wasn't exceptional. We had an egg and bacon roll, breakfast burrito, white chocolate and raspberry milkshake and chocolate milkshake. The bacon and egg roll was as you would expect it to be, the breakfast burrito was quite exciting and warming with great hits of chilli running through it and the milkshakes were both delicious! Definitely come here if you're in the area!

What can I say.. Went there with my bestie, had a lime milkshake that was nice for a hot day. But that shake that my friend ha was amazing! It was nutella and peanut butter milkshake!! It was like eating peanut butter/nutella straight from the jar.. Super sweet! Definitely great for sugar fix.

Far from a gimmick, Daisy's is a staple of inner west cafe "culture"! Can't say enough good things about this place, awesome food, servers are always happy and usually pretty cute which doesn't hurt ;)

Daisy’s Milkbar is a 1950’s retro style café, stuffed with witty kitsch ornaments, booths, knickerbocker glories and lollies….lots and lots of lollies!.

Enter Daisy’s Milkbar, off busy Stanmore road through a glossy pink door and discover a wonderful, colourful retro, rock-a-billy style world, complete with lots of gorgeous detail, from kitsch little ornaments to jars of lollies, murals and neon signs. Kids will be enthralled by all the things there are to look at; especially the lollies…oh did I mention the lollies?

Daisys milk bar was amazing! i absolutely loved it! I recently went there for my birthday and ordered a spider. there were so many interesting flavours to chose from and the service was excellent.

Quirky little cafe staffed by happy people with lots of tatts! Love the homestyle cooking and the coffee comes from Double Roasters at Marrickville (yum). Can be a bit busy but I've never had to wait too long for a table. Get yourself a booth, a milkshake and pretend you're a hipster back in the 50's! Or don't pretend and be a real hipster. Your choice.

Had the most amazing time at Daisy's. Their milkshakes (we had the Fairy Bread and Turkish Delight) are a must try and the breakfast burrito was a stand out. I loved the decor and the American vibe. The service was nice and friendly. I would definitely recommend coming here!

Pulled pork roll was to die for! Also got a milo milkshake with a coffee shot and that really hit the spot. During the week there is no long wait time!

The burger wasn't too bad, maybe it was because it was late during the day but the burger bun I had was slightly burnt which caused it to be hard and dry by the time I could get through the huge burger. Overall the flavours weren't so bad and. The beef patty was worth it :)

This little gem is a winner for the locals!
It's a small little Cafe that's set up kind of like an old school diner.

Everything on the menu is reasonably priced and you won't be disappointed by the quality of food.
(Try the peanut butter milk shake and your taste buds will explode!)

Only downfall is, it is small and always busy! So
Try and get there early to get a table .

I went to Daisy's Milkbar for a midweek lunch just before major dental surgery. It was carefully chosen as a cheeky 'last supper' because I had heard great things about the milkshakes and really, it just looked so damn cute! As it was mid week (a Wednesday I think) we easily got a table inside and were served promptly. I had the milkshakes of the week which was the most delicious oreo milkshake that i've ever had. It was rich, sweet and full of oreo flavour. For lunch I had french toast with icecream and a poached pear. Because that definitely counts as lunch. The french toast was similarly delicious and served by a cheerful waiter.

On later visits I have also tried the Uccello's jaffle which is off the hook! For $6 it is a well priced throwback to the jaffles of my childhood with the added bonus of pulled pork. Highly recommended! I also tried what I think was a watermelon and berrocca smoothie which was an oddly refreshing combination. Probably not for everyone though.

I've been wanting to hit up Daisy's Milkbar for awhile now. It didn't disappoint. The guy that served us (Jake) was very friendly and brought our food out pretty quickly.
I had that week's special White Chocolate and Raspberry Marble shake with the Baked Bean Jaffle. Both were super delicious.
I will definitely be going back again to try the other delicious sounding dishes (*milkshakes).

On my recent eating tour of Sydney we started our Saturday with a visit to Daisy’s Milkbar in Petersham for brunch. We got there around 10am and managed to snag ourselves a seat outside in the sunshine, with the place quickly filling up not long after we arrived. It’s decked out like a retro milkbar, with lollies on display in glass jars around the counter and everything – super cute!
Mrs Steal Yo Food
Daisy's milkshakes taste like children's dreams. We had their vanilla malt and strawberry shakes and enjoyed them so much that we went back for more. There's something artificial-tasting/surreal(I say that in a good way) yet simple about the shakes that takes you back to your childhood. Think of the flavours in Neapolitan ice cream.

There's nothing healthy and nothing omitted or added to their shakes to make them healthy or hip for you-- it's just pure unadulterated bliss.

Their pulled pork with Mac and cheese jaffles and chorizo and egg breakfast wrap busted my belly so be mindful of how much you will order if you plan on having their shakes. Daisy's big breakfast was simple and done well but not impressive; I would not reorder it.

The female waitress was also very friendly. I would definitely return here for their shakes.

Found hair in my food twice now :-/ two separate times a month apart. One time is forgivable but now I'm just grossed out. Won't be going back.

For a few months before we finally managed to visit this restaurant, its signboard ‘milkbar’ had caught my attention. There was that sense of old-fashioned / retro look to the restaurant. The restaurant’s name is Daisy’s Milkbar. On a Sunday afternoon, the restaurant was buzzing with people. One thing that made us happy was that the staffs were all lively and cheerful even when the wait was actually quite long.

Daisy’s Milkbar has quite a simplistic presentation for their dishes. Their milkshakes were one of the best ones in Sydney.

Stepping into this quaint milkbar is like being welcomed by a ray of sunshine filled with old school 50’s retro decor complete with it’s own Cottee’s cordial station. I love the pastel colours and all the jars of candy on the counter filled with favourites like Redskins, Cola bottles, strawberries and creams, and Push pops!

I don't think you could ever leave Daisy's in less than a good mood. The coffee here is robust, the food is flavourful and filling, and the people are absolutely top-notch! I love the attention to detail in the set up and menu of this place as well. All of my experiences here have been excellent! Will be coming back time and time again.

Service was ok. They were a bit too busy to handle it on this day which I understand as it was a public holiday. When our food eventually came, I wasn't impressed for the price. I had the breakfast burrito but the taste of scrambled eggs and spinach overpowers the burrito flavours and makes it just a breakfast wrap to be honest. Not what I was hoping. Could use more cheese, a salsa and a sour cream to make it actual resemble a burrito. Wasn't folded properly either, it was open as the bottom so everything can just fall out. The milkshake was nice. We ordered desserts as a special treat which were clearly missed or forgotten about. By the time the staff got around to realising (once I told them) they had brought only mine out. We mentioned that we might not want the other two anymore since we were keen to leave at some point but were told that they were ready so we had to have them...but they still didn't come for another 5 minutes. Also, the desserts were not exactly as described. My Knickerbocker was meant to have peaches and some other stuff but came out just jelly and cream with a little bit of ice cream and strawberry. $14...a let down. The other two desserts were similar. My coffee though. Oh my god. It was the worst I have ever had from a cafe with such a good reputation. Mecca would have been really disappointed someone served their product like this. The two coffees had both obviously been sitting at the counter waiting to be run for well over 5 minutes. The froth had completely split and turned into bubbles. Not just a little bit which would be ok, but completely. There was about half a coffee left in the piccollo because it was mostly foamy old froth. It also tasted rubbish to be honest. Looking around the room, each table received a similar poor quality coffee. I couldn't believe someone would serve that. If my staff leave a coffee waiting to be served for more than 15 seconds I run it myself. It is unacceptable to charge someone money for that. Especially when you're serving beans that you're probably buying wholesale for somewhere between $25-30 a kilo. Really didn't enjoy it.

No. Went here after seeing it on the Urbanlist. Pretty cool interior and good milkshake however the food left a lot to be desired. The potato gems were three small balls of oil & I think the chicken laid the egg directly onto my burger given how raw it was.

Spice your appetite with the carb-loaded big breakfast and juicy chilli breakfast burrito. Garnish with a creamy vanilla malt milkshake to complement and take a visit to the free cordial stand which adds to the authenticity of the milkbar scene.

At first, I was very sad that they didn’t offer a side of fries. Fortunately, I’m glad there weren’t any extras given as this burger was massive!!. A warm toasted bun slathered with mayo and crunchy slaw and then a giant load of greasy pulled pork chucked on top. The contrasting textures went well together, the only downfall was that the pork was a bit too greasy. Along with heavy meat, was a giant bun, so unfortunately I was unable to finish this, but I’m very glad they give big portions that fill me up.

Totally not a real "burger with the lot". Very average place.. While the interior looks good, the 30+ minute wait was not worth it. No nostalgia felt In the food that didnt taste like the old days, nor the drinks in their shiny new wannabe old school metal cups. Customer service was slow, streey outside Is a noisy throughfare for people going somewhere else. So if you have a puppy and dont want it to stand around forever or bear the brunt of car fumes, another surburbian place may serve better.
oh and they took my Unfinished milkshake away when I went to the bathroom...
Kate
Totally average. First we waited on the street for half an hour for a table, which wouldn't have mattered if it was worth the wait. We were asked about 6 times to take our order when it was clear we were still reading the menus and one of our party was missing from the table. Our coffees took too long to come and when they did were cold, we sent them back, wait again, they come back and the waitress spills it so takes it back again, wait again, it comes back a third time and is still cold, we drink anyway as its not worth waiting longer. The food takes equally as long (up to an hour) and can only be described as average when it does arrive. The gems are drenched in oil, the eggs are dry (overpriced big breakfast) and friends comment the corned beef was tough. Only positive was the milkshakes. Totally not worth the effort.

Cute little set up! Great cup of coffee, I was impressed. The spider drinks were great. Haven't had them since primary school! We ordered the breakfast burrito which was filling, delicious and nice and spicy. Home made potato gems are the best. Just disappointed the kids soldiers were hard boiled not soft, kids were disappointed so we ordered the hotdog as well. Should have used a softer type of bread roll for kids as this one was too big and hard for a child. Will be back again

... we headed off to Daisy’s – so glad it was open because I’d been wanted to visit Daisy for a long time. All their food looks so amazing.

Daisy’s Milkbar had been on my wish list for a long time so one day, before taking myself to the movies, I visited for brunch. It’s such a sweet little cafe with milkshakes, sundaes, a cordial station and a cutesy, freshly painted dessert feature wall.

Best Mac & Cheese. I popped into Daisy's a month ago as my son was playing basketball around the corner. It is completely out of our area and I thought I would just pick up a mac and cheese to go. Well all I can say is OMG -- it was amazing. I have been dreaming about it since. It was amazing. I've tried to make it myself -- I've tried recipes from all over the net but there is nothing like it. Must also say that everything on the menu also looked fab. Can't wait to have to go over there again -- it was a true treat.

Had heard a lot about Milkbar from quite a few people so had high expectations when I visited. To begin with the service isn't really the best, we had to go to the counter to get someone to come and take our order. We were also without cups for water and struggled to alert a waitress for around 10 minutes. The iced chai I wasn't too impressed with but found the banana and coconut bread to be particularly good. Think I'll give a second chance before making up my mind!

Free cordial ... 'nuff said. Just noticed the no. 1 Sydney and Brisbane reviewers' comments here. I went here a while back as it's in my extended catchment area. Went first thing so didn't have the deal with the crowds that others encounter (lucky that eh?) - in fact was on my own for most of it before a couple of bloggers showed up. Had the big breakfast with haloumi - can't really say it was that big but tasted fine. The vanilla malt shake was fine and I drank far too much of the various free cordial that was on offer. Life is hard when you have a sweet tooth that must be served.
Sydneyguyrojoe
Crowded place. TRied there pulled pork burger which was very filling and there milk shake which was better than average but I was expecting more. There is a line on the weekend to get in, the place is small though but I do like the ambience, Service was good but prices a little high, menu seemed limited, not sure if i'll be back
Andrew88lawrence
No thanks .... Waited 20 minutes for a mini sundae ... On to be served a melted mini sundae then told it was melted because of the hot fudge ... Yeah sure . If the waitress served me when my order was ready instead of me having to go ask after 15 mins I'd be happy. Would never go back, ice cream isn't hard to screw up !

Around the corner from Stanmore station is a popular little joint called Daisy's Milkbar. Daisy's Milkbar is everything retro and all the good things you remember from your childhood, pastel decor, chewy lollies and cordial. Daisy's atmosphere of the milk bar makes you feel as if you've walked back in time to when the counter was too high and 50c made you feel rich. At the entrance there's an assortment of classic milk bar items like Milko's, red skins and jars and jars of different lollies. After so many reviews of the little milk bar, our visit was highly anticipated. The menu was nicely set out with reasonable prices between $8-18 as well as weekly specials. The counter was adorned in home cooked goodies that you could also order alongside your meal. When we were ready, the friendly staff took our orders and we could hear and smell the delicious scents wafting from the kitchen. The service was very quick and it wasn't long before both our drinks and our food were placed before us. Drinks-wise there were your usual cafe drinks as well as milkshakes, juices and frappe's. Watermelon and Mint Juice The watermelon and mint juice was light and refreshing - the flavor combination was excellent. The mint flavor was thankfully not overwhelming and the real standout was the sweet and fresh flavor of the watermelon juice. Banana Milkshake (soy) Soy can often be a let down and means saying goodbye to pure flavors that coagulate with the nutty soy taste. Daisy's managed to make this Banana milkshake sweet and delicious, making you almost forget you had to choose the lactose free option. SPECIAL: Paprika Chicken and Bacon Burger with Chipolte Aioli, Avocado, Pecorino Cheese and Tomato Salsa. Served w/ Sweet Potato Chips One of the specials was this outstanding chicken and bacon burger! Combined with the salty sweet flavors of the sweet potato chips the burger had all the right combinations you look for in a good burger. The paprika wasn't too overwhelming and overall it h

I’m a sucker for a milk bar. I absolutely love milkshakes, sundaes and grilled cheese, so I was a little too excited to visit Daisy’s Milk Bar in Petersham. This cutie pie milk bar has a retro vibe, with brightly coloured pastel booths and signs, a free cordial station for an extra sugar hit. We arrived at prime lunch hour on a Sunday...

A visit to Daisy's Milkbar is like travelling back in time to the 'good old days' - the curious world of milkshakes, retro music and cute cafe booths. From the moment you walk in through the baby pink wooden door, the cafe exudes a sense of excitement and fun. Picture a giant plastic icecream cone hanging off the wall, free cordial station, splashes of pastel blues, pink and yellow and booths decorated with fruity patterns! The menu here at Daisy's was quite extensive with options for breakfast, lunch, tea or dessert. I must say that the breakfast and lunch options here were fairly standard compared to other cafes in Sydney. However, if you're in a for a real retro treat, the desserts sounded amazing and simply ideal for a romantic sweet date with salted caramel banana split, icecream sandwich and sundaes on offer! The zucchini and corn fritters were a tad disappointing as I was expecting them to be crunchy. What I did get was like a wet corn and zucchini pancake. I did like the tang

“A public holiday is the perfect excuse for brunch” said half of Australia over the public holiday long weekend. Perhaps there was a memo but it seemed everybody gravitated to Daisy’s Milkbar in Petersham. There is always a bit of apprehension when you visit a café with so much surrounding hype, whether it will live up to all the excitement built around it. A 25 minute wait was what we were faced with this particular public holiday Monday, we put our name on the standby list and went for a little wander around Petersham. I’ll also put it out there that I have never waited more than 5 minutes for a table in any establishment, so we’ll file this under ‘fun new experiences’. Alex was the one pushing for a visit and I don’t tend to indulge him too often so I thought I’d do the sisterly thing, making it even more of a family affair, Madre came along as we

But I’ll tell you what was cheesy, the mac and cheese. Served in a rustic mug, stinky digs her fork in, eats it and states, “Oh, it’s so cheesy!” (I think we have a future food blogger here…) So I suggested for her to add some mac and cheese into her toastie, which she declines at first but later notice she did add it in.

For this next place, the edge might just be the fact that they have free cordial and a fun colour scheme. This man went to… Daisy’s Milkbar.

That warm, fuzzy feeling. It’s the feeling you get when you meet your crush for the first time. It is also the feeling you get when you step inside Daisy’s Milkbar and notice the wonderful hues of blue, pink and yellow whilst being smilingly greeted by co-owner, Jess. This spot is so 1950s/60s that you’d almost expect to see a not-so-baller Don Draper (Mad Men) reading a newspaper while sipping on some delicious Double Roasters Coffee.
Take And Eat
The menu is limited but what is on the menu is a selection of hearty, home- style food- as in dishes like mac n cheese, jaffles, sandwiches etc. I wasn't too impressed with the menu and my friend did make a point saying she eats out and orders dishes that she wouldn't be able to make at home. We ended up ordering jaffle, which is a toasted sandwich with beans and cheese inside, mac n cheese and a pulled pork sandwich. It was a very filling and cheap meal! It did take a while for the food to come out but they brought out all three dishes at once.

Located in Petersham, round the corner of the rather cool Oxford Tavern lies this discreetly charming Milk Bar. Its all pastels and sunshine in here. A bit of a departure from modern schmick cafes with pendant lighting and ceramic tiles but Daisy manages to hold its own. Lets eat some desserts!! Daisy’s has a old school charm that’s evident even from the street side. Various knickknacks and sweets you can purchases here. There’s some cute candy and then there’s the excellent stickchai. Bright pastels abound. There’s a Free cordial station in the right corner there. There’s booth seating inside. This was a banana nutella Jaffle and its only $5. Its delicious. We slathered it with icecream from the other desserts we had. Hot gooey nutella, banana and icecream is the way to go. Their Knickerbocker $14 is a tall glass full of peaches, berry coulis, cream, icecream. It’s pretty great. Would. Loved the garnishes. Ice cream Sandwich. Its kinda big – there’s vanillabean icecream, some nice strawberries and chocolate biccies. Looking at this, we want another. Now. Rather enjoyed our time at Daisy’s Milkbar. We spent a good arvo there – not pictured were the pots of tea and stickychai we had. Got to have a chat with Jess and she told us that btw then (when they started DMB) and now; they’ve had a commercial kitchen installed and there is now a more substantial menu present so its not all sweet treats. There were sandwiches, breakfast burritos and breakfast menu items. Come say hello to Jess and Jake and eat their delightful foods.
The Random Foodie
Daisy's Milk Bar at Petersham has been on our wishlist for a while because of its uber cute, retro 50's decor. There's a candy machine near the register, loads of jars of lollies and pastel colours everywhere. And of course the food. Even the new generation of kids will be in awe when they are at Daisy's.
Excuse Me Waiter
One of the newest cafes to hit Sydney is Daisy’s Milk Bar which is hidden away in Petersham. There isn’t much around the immediate vicinity of Daisy’s, however when we arrive there’s already a line. While waiting, we’re greeted by one of their waitresses who offers us gummy lollies and fairy bread while we wait – so awesome! Milo Milkshake – $5 We only wait about 10 minutes before being seated and we’re greeted by pastel colours and diner booths inside. The interiors are charmingly cute and match the old style music which plays in the background. To start off, we grab a few milo milkshakes and I especially love how there are crunchy bits of milo on the top, providing some nice texture to the drink. BBQ Pulled Pork with Slaw – $14 Our table is quite single-minded in our orders and half of us are all drawn to the BBQ pulled pork. With good reason too though; the pork is covered with a sweet BBQ sauce that has spicy undertones and the meat is sandwiched between slices of airy bread. An ov

Choc fudge sundae $14 Scoop each of vanilla bean, chocolate and strawberry jam ice cream with chocolate fudge sauce, hot chocolate brownie, flaked almonds, whipped cream and a cherry on top A sublime dessert which screams summer and childhood memories of after-school treats just like the way mum would make it. The ice cream here is supplied by Serendipity and the strawberry jam ice cream was my favourite of the three! Creamy and jammy goodness. Hidden under all the ice cream, whipped cream and chocolate fudge sauce was slab of really chunky chocolate and macadamia brownie :) It would have been awesome if there was Ice Magic on this! Ban
Does My Bomb Look Big In This
The Beach Boys on the speakers, pin-up girls taking orders, a cordial station, jars of sweets and gingham curtains… If this place was any cuter I could be sick. Luckily this inner west café is perfect for the old-fashioned milk bar menu. Think shakes, Jaffles and sundaes - but with a modern twist. Greg’s Jaffle ($6) is loaded with bolognaise, while Uccella’s packs pulled pork inside a golden, white bread pocket. Breakfast is served all day, which is great because the Zucchini and Corn Fritters ($16) should be enjoyed at any given time, made special by a lovely Indian relish and cardamom yoghurt. Of course it wouldn’t be a milk bar without a...

Pleasant. This small retro cafe, beautifully decorated, was surprisingly full on a weekday at around 12. Yet I was comfortably seated at the bench facing the window, and informed by the kind waitress of the specials. I ordered the special milkshake which was Banoffee made with dulce de leche and real banana ($7) and a side of mac and cheese ($5). The milkshake when it arrived caused me some disappointment- not in a tin! I can only assume this irregularity was due to the unexpected popularity of the joint as I believe tinned milkshakes are their usual habit. However the flavour was not at all disappointing- both the banana and the caramel flavours definitely came through and worked together lovingly. The mac and cheese was surprisingly large for a side and I was glad I hadn't ordered anything else. I found it to be flavoursome and deliciously cheesy. Service was friendly and cheerful, and I would love to come here again.

Delicious breaky. The breakfast burito was delicious. They even did it on gf toast for me instead of the tortilla.
Big servings and very reasonably priced. One of the best breaky places in the inner west!!

Potentially great - poor execution. $8 for a hot dog - Frankfurt on a bun with sauce. You naturally expect more and get a better deal/meal at a Bunnings sausage sizzle.

Unfortunately the vibe was ruined by a poor choice of music. Kesha is not what I expect at a 60's milkbar.

Diana. Cool retro spot in the heart of the city, love the deckchairs & old fashioned appeal-takes me back to the British beach set of the 60's LOL! Oh & those milk shakes whoop whoop!!

Cute little place, with a nice fitout and Elvis playing in the background. We had the pancakes for breakfast which were nice. I think it is a little on the expensive side but the atmosphere makes it worth it. It is good to have something different in Stanmore,

Highly anticipated....if you get food.. I wanted to try this cafe for a long time. First time I went it was limited to food as they were closing for renovations. Second time round - Before coming to Daisy's, I thought I would call them to make sure they are open. They mentioned there kitchen now closes at a new time which is 3.30pm. I made my way down around 1pm. I walked inside and was greeted by a nice lady who said they are closed, I was confused at this point, and she said they ran out of food. I was upset and annoyed as it took me 45mins to get to this cafe to get told they have ran out of food. Mind you, it was only 1pm and I called to make sure they would be open. Very unhappy! Definitely not coming back.

This place used to be a fave but sadly some things have gone amiss with the change of owners. Ordering at the counter cheapens the experience- especially when no one tells you that’s the case. The food was as quite average and not that special. I was shocked that an $8.50 milkshake came without the fancy decoration and in a nice cup that Daisy’s of old would have served and was so full of desiccated coconut that I couldn’t use a straw to drink it. Staff are not nearly as friendly. To top it off the staff all had a domestic in the kitchen that everyone in the restaurant could hear. Sadly this place is slipping into the mediocre from what used to be exceptional.

Daisy's is a really cute cafe with booths and 50s pastel decor. Really into the milkshakes and toasted jaffles!!

I love milk. Best milkshakes in the inner west!

DAISY DAISY DAISY. Daisy breaky is a real treat and just as tasty as it looks.

Awesome pulled pork sandwiches, milkshakes and staff. Highly recommend. Only issue is that it's slightly small so fills up fast!

Get there - definitely have a milkshake. Thought it was excellent, fun vibe, great staff, yummy food, free cordial, awesome milkshakes. It's the little things that made us all nostalgic, redskins and free raspberries. The "Great piccolo scandal" (someone elses coffee ended up on our table) was handled with great humour by the staff. We will be back.
