Such a great place with great food! My fav was the fish skewers- a must try! The Fich popcorn was also really good. All food tasted very fresh. Friendly staff, good service. I would recommend this place rather than the Sydney Fish Market.
Fich at Petersham, which opened doors in 2018, is a creation of two former Bennelong chefs, Chef Jose Silva (who also owns Sweet Belem, and Bibo) and Chef Manny Paraiso. That fact alone made it worth a try and we were not disappointed. The sustainably sourced Seafood is supplied by Southern Fresh Seafood. We particularly enjoyed the Popcorn Fich. The Wine List was diverse. The location is easily accessible only meters from the train station and with parking available just across the street at the Post Office.
Exceptional food. Great respect shown for the fresh fish that they serve. Service is excellent. And the ambiance of the place is really relaxing. I will definitely be back
Fich at Petersham is a restaurant that would not be out of place at the Sydney Fish Markets in Pyrmont except it has better parking, less crowds and you don’t have to actively avoid puddles of murky water to get a seafood fix. Headed by two chefs with Bennelong pedigree, the menu is a great mix of casual fish and chip fare along with some offerings that show off the chefs’ fine dining origins.
Set amongst the Portuguese chicken shops of Petersham, you’ll find this fish and chip shop offering takeaway as well as a refined dine-in restaurant experience. The regular fish and chips I had to go was fabulously fresh. Great food, great service.
Exceptional fish burger and potato scallops to die for! One of the best places in Sydney for seafood in the heart of Petersham. Their desserts are no slouches either, with the pimped Portugese tart a standout.

Most addictive dish is awarded to the school prawns, deep-fried so they eat as noisily as potato chips. It's a simple dish that works only with the freshest of ingredients. And there's attention to detail too, with the deliberate scattering of baby radishes, chives and micro herbs to break up the heaviness.
in the center of Petersham is where you’ll find Jose Silva (Sweet Bellem co-owner & ex-Bennelong chef) and Manny Paraiso’s (also an ex-Bennelong. chef) seafood restaurant. All the seafood used are fresh and top quality. From. the mussels to calamari and fish. The space has a mix of Scandinavian and coastal interior
The best Fish and Chips you'll ever have! Refreshing to finally see something new in Petersham.
Food was cooked perfectly and the staff were very friendly! My favourite was the fish taco, yum!
Called in for lunch and had the fichermans basket.Fish, mussels and calamari were very good. The calamari was as tender as could be and the fish batter was perfect.Cheap frozen beer battered chips were a big disappointment and the only reason i gave 4 instead of 5 stars.
Fich never disappoints! Second time here for lunch and we couldn’t stray from the favourites 😂 Fish tacos were perfectly crunchy and crispy. Rolling two pieces of calamari in the soft pita bread was so good 👌The snapper was tender and not fishy at all. We paired the food with a glass of Prosecco and Riesling. Aside from the food and drinks, I really loved the bright white interior of the restaurant with natural light filtering through. We arrived a bit before 2pm and the service was quick. The waitresses were friendly and attentive. I would definitely recommend this place to others and we shall be back soon! 😊
Casual dining fish and chips restaurant with friendly service, will be back to try more of the menu. My fav dish was the scallop with noodles in garlic seaweed butter, it was flavorsome and cooked perfectly.
Solid southern fried long burger and great value at $16 with chips. In the future would remove the tomato, just didn't do anything for me but everything else was great. Little more seasoning on the chippies too - couldn't really taste much at all.
I am no fish and chip aficionado but Fich does by far the best fish and chips I have had in Sydney. We visited the place on a lazy Saturday late arvo and they still had a steady stream of customers! Their location pretty close to bus stops and train station really helps as Petersham isn't exactly the most accessible of places by public transport. We didn't go for the full on dining experience preferring the outside seating so no idea on service but our brief interaction with the staff was good. The fish was the right level of flaky, the batter was crisp and the chips were salted generously, crispy on the outside and mushy on the inside. The fish popcorn is a must try! It provides a fishy twist on ever popular Korean fried chicken flavours and textures. Overall definitely worthy of being 'the' fish and chip shop!
Sets the benchmark for quality fish n chips.
Excellent chips - crispy on the outside but fluffy on the inside. The fish was beautifully battered and fresh.
Tacos were wonderful too.
If I was to critique, I'd say the tartare sauce could use more bite but I'm scraping the bottom of the barrel here.
Lovely venue & service. Would happily return.
Beyond impressed. The service, pace, delivery of food, and quality of food make for the perfect dining experience.
The cocktails were exceptional and paired really well with the food. I will definitely be back.
Ordered some takeaway on Australia Day. They were super busy and the order was a little late, but understandable so that isn't reflected in the four stars.
The potato scallops, much thicker than a regular potato scallop, very substantial and yummy!
For the mussels we asked to have the sauce of the side, which they remembered 👍, the mussels were plump and juicy and sauce was very nice.
The barramundi was a little overcooked and the fries overall were a bit salty for my liking.
Calamari was cooked perfectly, it was melt in your mouth gorgeous!
The fried cauliflower salad was absolutely delicious!! By far the most memorable dish from the meal.
Finally, the fennel salad was a bit of a miss for me, just a bit limp and ehh.
Will be back for sure to dine in and check out more of their menu!
