Everything here reminds me of home cooked food back in Malaysia. Every dish just exudes love and passion. Sharon's such a lovely person she's always asking for feedback. Looking for humble Malaysian dishes, go to Sharon Kwan.
Was looking forward to Sharon Kwan Kitchen based on reviews but unfortunately it turned out to be a bit of a disappointment. The good dishes were the roti canai with beef rendang and also the mi goreng with prawns. The hainanese chicken was not nice and the other chicken dish had minimal flavour. Price wise it was also on the higher end. The ladies working there friendly and the service was fast.
Sunday night driving on Parramatta Rd trying to check out a Malaysian food truck, selling halal food, served by authentic Muslim Malays. I caught sight of the queue outside, decided to drive past further down the road. I was too hungry to join the rest of the masked Asians outside the food truck.
Luckily, Sharon Kwan was just further down a few buildings on Parramatta Rd. I have read about it before the pandemic, but have never dropped in for a look see. I'm glad I did.
CKT with duck egg was delicious. Maybe an extra prawn might be worth the $19.50 cost? It was smoky, spicy and sweet Chinese sausages that balances the whole noodle dish. Ayam bakar was sold out, so had the Thai version instead. Spicy sambal sauce was just that. It was f####n spicy, I was a human fountain. I started to hallucinate and wondered if I was in the jungles of Borneo or slumming in the housos of Bkk! I loved it. I don't know about my gut though...
Chicken was ok, nothing extraordinary but the CKT was pretty damn tasty. Sharon? the lady I was speaking too was friendly as we chewed the fat on other Malaysian eateries. I know a few secrets now in Sydney... š
