Review Nyonya House - Point Cook

Debi Slinger
Just discovered this place and WOW, can’t wait to return and explore the vast menu more. It doesn’t look particularly Malaysian until I was offered the menu and boom! Found all my favourites. I ordered the Roti Chanai (beef) and tasted amazing. Just what I needed. Prices were reasonable. Plenty of parking. Wheelchair friendly. Kid friendly. Caters for dietaries. Most of all, the staff were so lovely and sweet. I will return.

Great food, not too expensive. Food is very delicious, the one with the chilli icon has a kick, but it’s not too bad and you should give it a go. Although a matcha got confused with a mocha, it was all good.
Jin Tan
Authentic selection of Malaysian food, despite having a large Western entree, dessert and drinks section too to be accommodating, but doesn't take away from the food being great. Fair prices and excellent service by the Aunties there, would definitely visit again

I have very good experience in restaurant. Everyone should try here. Truly Malaysian food and it is so tasty. Curry laksa, butter chicken, Nasi lemak, Char kowtiau and so on.. I have many different varieties in this restaurant and it was amazing taste. Most impressive thing is they using Halal chicken so the taste is truly amazing.

Food is excellent....totally worth the wait. So far authentic and great taste. Will visit again soon.

Had many dishes here over time, all of which were subpar. Had the chicken rice recently for the second time, thinking it would be better than the first. There is no flavour at all, not in the rice, soup (which tasted like water), and even somehow the chicken.. Very disappointing. Will not be ordering here again.

Where do I start? Should I start at the point where I ate so much that I crawled back to the car? Or should I start this review at the time where I kept licking my lips trying to get the last bit of taste back! Nyonya house definitely does not disappoint! Normally when I do reviews, we would order something we would like, and if we enjoyed the meal, we would come back next week to order something different, for a wider taste pallet, and to check on consistency for both taste, and service. We broke this routine due to how delicious the meals were! If you are wanting to have a party in your mouth, this is what we got between two people, over two straight days. 3x Mango Lassi 1x Pineapple Lassi 1x Roti Canai - Satay 1x Roti Canai - Curry 2x Nasi Lemek - Beef Rendang 1x Tomyum Noodles - Chicken 1x Tomyum Noodles - Vegetable 1x Spicy Dumplings - Chicken 1x Mixed Chacha Let's first talk about their Lassi drinks, not only does the flavours pop out and have a smooth yogurt taste, but you can taste a hint of Rose Water, and has just a smidgen of crunch to create a great experience. Would recommend the Mango Lassi. The Roti, oh man! Where ever you go, people are used to the Roti being just a flat type of bread that you dip into some sort of sauce, and we are not talking about Naan! Nyonya House Roti is the best we have had. Not only is the Roti easy to tear apart, but the inside retains it's many layers and crunch. Recommend the Satay. The beef in the Nasi Lemek was outstandingly tender! So much so, that the beef would melt in your mouth, you could eat the whole plate without having to chew! Flavours were subtle, with the real taste of Sambal to compliment the dish. Recommend Beef Nasi Lemek. I am not a fan of Noodles, I always steer clear of noodle dishes as I have not found a place that could balance the flavour correctly. The chefs at Nyonya house must have been cooking noodle dishes for many decades as not only can you taste every flavour within the dish such as the ginger, lemon, fish sauce, many more, the dish was light, not saturated in oil or sauces. The noodles was not chewy, nor was it overcooked. The vegetables were crunchy, not soft. Everything about this dish was perfect. We could not fault it at all. Recommend Vegetable Tomyum Noodles. The spicy dumplings were interesting, as I have had many different types of spicy dumplings from various places. The difference about these, the flavours are a lot stronger than the actual spice of it, which completely allows you to enjoy the meal, rather than pour a water jug in your mouth. The Mixed Chacha would have to be my new favourite dessert! The Nata De Coco, Jackfruit, and the very soft ice made this dessert enjoyable and wanting more! Overall, we could not fault any of these dishes, and very surprising to us that we have failed to find any faults. Nyonya House not only gets our 5/5 rating, but also gets two new loyal customers from now on!

Ordered a Roti Roll and the curry chicken was lukewarm and seemed stale, probably not cooked today. Also the EFTPOS surcharge seems unnecessary and bit of a money grab. Just my 2 cents or should I say 2.03 cents with the 1.5% surcharge :)
DarReNz
The dishes here were pretty much a hit and miss but my absolute favourite assam laksa, only available on friday and saturday remains awesome. However there is a new surcharge of 1.5% for any card payments, that’s a no-no for me !!

Regulars to this restaurant but last visit very disappointing. Nasi Lemak was served with very little sauce when asked for a bit more sauce they wanted us to pay for it. Mee Siam was salty and unappetising. Rude boss will never go back.
Bioslaya
This is the Malaysian restaurant in Wyndham area that people tend take me to, due to the variety of dishes they offer. I haven't found The dish that would make me come back again and again of my own volition, however, the few dishes I've had were good and the price is quite reasonable.<br/><br/>I've had:<br/>1. Char Koay Teow<br/>2. Prawn Mee<br/>3. Beef Sa Hor Fun<br/>4. Rojak<br/><br/>They were all OK. The service is always friendly and helpful during my visits and the dishes come out fairly quickly (although one time someone ordered Fish Noodle Soup that arrived longer than others).

i have moved from the south east and am happy to have found this gem. my fav is fish head noodle<br/>soup and it’s now become my comfort food.
Suzysays
Just recently moved to the west. Decided to see what’s around the area and found this place. They have an extensive menu at a very reasonable price. Great hearty Malaysian food, generous portions. We were stuffed! Service was with a smile. Will def return to support this business just based on their hospitality.
Bluecat
The flavours are not bad. Staff are friendly and helpful! One of the better ones in the area! Feels like a family run eatery.

✅ what’s my favourite: the curry fish head and the chicken fried with Nyonya Chilli paste <br/><br/>Great service. Very friendly. Lovely smiles ! <br/><br/>This is one of my go to restaurant if I crave for a good curry fish head. Never disappointing. Always satisfying! <br/>

This place have been here for years, we are not frequent but we do come and have our coffee or brunch every now and then. We just love their smile, friendly owner always melt our heart each time we walk in 😁 The asam laksa is good, the taste is just right for me and its so fresh ❤️

Very friendly and accomodating staff. Great food with nice ambience, considering that it is within a shopping centre. decent size for serving for mains with affordable prices.

My score 3 stars.  J & I had lunch here today.  Place was pretty full but we got a table straight away - service was good & quick.  We ordered:  Nasi Lemak w chicken curry/Char Koay Teow/Roti w satay sauce.  Nasi L > Was the best dish by far - nice peanuts, plenty of rice, but only a moderate amount of chicken (was spicy & tasty though).  Spicy thick sambal was separate from the dried anchovies, which I liked (as it kept them crunchy).  Half a boiled egg, two pieces of cucumber (no pickles).  Not as good as Laksa King's, but better than Chef Lagenda's IMO.  CKT > Was very pale, no Lap Cheong - perhaps this was why there was no smoky/charry character (which was a big downer for me).  Wide rice noodles, fish cake & egg were nice, but only 3 medium prawns!  Roti > Satay sauce was spicy & nice, but there wasn't heaps of it.  The Roti was not like any I've had before at a restaurant (totally different to Mamak's for example).  It was very round & uniform, slightly thick rather than light & flaky (no puffed layers of pastry).  BTW - Neither the FKT or Roti looked like their pictures on the menu!  Overall > Food & prices ok, so not bad if you're a local.  We shop down this way a bit (Stockland), so based on the Nasi L will give NH another go & try some different dishes from their extensive menu.

This place has been on the list for quite a time now, especially due to proximity to home, and today was the day!<br/>We were given a table without any wait, and the service was decent. I tried Curried fried rice and Mee-goreng today. Curried fried was ok ok, but Mee-goreng was super- delicious!! <br/>With a place so busy, I was impressed by the time it took for the food to reach our table.<br/>Would definitely be going next time to explore further the elaborate menu they have, especially a diverse range of drinks :)

Nice little restaurant located in the sanctuary lakes shopping area.. pretty authentic tasting Malaysia food..<br/>They had Malaysian style coffee too which was made with condense milk..<br/>Would recommend this place for those in the area looking for some authentic Malaysian dishes..
A&S Eat Everything
Walked past here a few times so decided to check it out one Friday night. Walked in and we were seated immediately. Staff were attentive and friendly too. <br/><br/>We ordered the mixed meat Satay Skewers, Satay Chicken Roti, Nasi Goreng and the Nyonya Vermicelli. <br/><br/>The Satay Skewers were nice and flavoursome with a nice Satay sauce on the side. The roti wrap was also nice but lacked flavour, just needed a bit more zing. The Nasi Goreng was very flavoursome though and very nice. The Nyonya Vermicelli also lacked flavour. It was nice though and the elements were there but it was just missing that little bit extra. <br/><br/>Overall, it was an enjoyable meal. I will be back again! <br/><br/><br/>

Amazing food. My favourite is the curry chicken crispy noodles and the laksa. Beef rendang is excellent too. Always good service. I come here time and time again.
Crazy Foodie
The best malaysian restaurant in Point Cook. Close to my house is a big plus. I love their assam laksa and also the normal laksa. I am big fan of laksa and finding laksa that I like is a bit of a challenge. My husband also like their food. Tried some of their stir fried noodles and they taste awesome. My only complain is the price is a bit steep.
Faith Yao
Went there for a quick meal. I ordered fish head noodle soup and asked for less noodles but more veggies. Waitress said no problem, no mention of extra fee for veggies. I was charged 3 dollars for an extra piece of cauliflower and slice of tomato. Given the soup itself is overpriced, totally disappointed. I haven't been there since then.
Kelly Hoverd
love the foods here! great and efficient service. We always order nasi lemak, hainanese chicken rice, and tom yum. good serving size and delicious!!
Jine
This restaurant changed the owner, and she is very bad. Bad service and bad attitude, the staff is okay. But the boss, she is very bad. One of the dish is not fresh and taste a bit sour and not normal, we want to change to different one, but she refused to do so. Finally, we asked her to put the food into the bin and we paid for it. Such a bad experience I have ever had in Melbourne. I missed the old owner when she run the restaurant. We will never come here again.
Crazy About My Food
West side has a decent Malaysian restaurant now. They were kind enough to accomodate my vegetarian friends. Ipho Horfun was delicious and so were the veg noodles which surprising had an chicken stock undertone. Which, as a good friend, I never mentioned to any super greeny on the table :) I could be wrong or it may just be msg. No complains from me.

Haven't been here for a few years and thought we'd check back after moving back to Melbourne again! The service was alright could be better, but the waitress gave us the wrong dish and when we went to grab her attention it legit seemed like she was dreaming... We ordered the crispy vermicelli, chicken rice and hokkien char. The food was definitely of low standard... Did not finish any of the dishes, the crispy vermicelli was super bland 😐 hokkien char was also bland 😑 the chicken rice was very dry, textures and consistency were so off it didn't not even feel like we were eating chicken 😥 the prawns were also not cleaned properly as there were still veins in them. Wouldn't go back.

It's a love-hate relationship with this restaurant.<br/><br/>They serve pretty authentic Nyonya dishes such as Assam Laksa, fried kueh kak, char kueh tiaw. <br/><br/>However, their service and consistency are horrible!<br/><br/>I went there for lunch with my girlfriend on a very quite late afternoon. The waitperson was dreaming away. We called and waived at several occasions but she did not pay attention at all. As a result, we pulled out the phone and called her to attend us.<br/><br/>Not once, but many many occasions to the point I have lost count. <br/>Nyonya House has massive ability to serve main courses at the same time.<br/>They serve a main course one after another, almost 15 min apart.<br/>Mind you, there were ONLY two main course but they fail to get get this right most of the time.<br/><br/>We mention this issue to the management but I don't think they take this problem seriously as it happens to other diners as well.<br/><br/>

Loved the Asam Laksa and Char Kuih Teow. Definitely the best restaurant in SL. Will definitely be back. Especially Friday & Saturday for Asam Laksa
Catharine
This is a VERY BAD restaurant. QUALITY SUCKS. NOT REASONABLE PRICE. If you want to spend $60 for 2 people, there are other better restaurant here in Sanctuary Lakes or just go to Pacific Werribee. STOMACH FELT WEIRD AFTER I ATE HERE.
Poisonmin88
Price was not worth the taste and quality of the food. Petai and prawns were not fresh. The soup was way too sour with a strong smell of vinegar. The nut in muachi dessert smelt bad. Everything did not look as good as the picture! Don't be fooled! Service was okay. Container for 50c. Definitely not coming back. I was gonna give ZERO rating but no choice.
Delian Pud Billy Bie
For my past dining experience it was ok, not great. Went there recently, Ordered fried noodle and muachi. It was the worst muachi ever in my life!! Peanuts wasn't fresh, have a very strong stinky smell and funny taste. Very disappointed! Noodle was ok not great. <br/>Very pricey, total $30!!! I have try so many Malaysian restaurants this is the worst Malaysian restaurant.
Mistletoe
We really wanted to like this place. Really. But we just couldn't. Teh Tarik ordered with less sugar, was still sickly sweet. Wanton noodles - noodles were great! Wantons? Dry + bland filling, gluggy doughy wrap and msg laden soup. <br/><br/>Nasi lemak rendang... don't bother ordering it. <br/><br/>Coconut rice was cold with chunks of coconut milk in the rice. Yes, chunks. Rendang was clearly kept for too long. It's dry and though taste wise was all right, we felt like we were going to suffer from a jaw lock after all that effort put in chewing. What's even worse is the peanuts and fried anchovies. The anchovies were no longer crispy. Probably kept too long (see a trend here?) and was chewy as well. Peanuts weren't even cooked/fried. <br/><br/>Service? Not attentive and staff don't even bother asking you how the food is or how our experience was in the outlet. Perhaps they rather read the comments left behind on zomato. So here it is! <br/><br/>Where is the love and detail in the food, nyonya house?
Nicole P
We love it here. Super friendly staff and the food is always great. I tend to get laksa or char kwai teow and it is always an enjoyable feed. Food always served at a good speed. The only thing I've had here and don't rate super highly is their roti, it's a big soggy. But otherwise, big thumbs up for Nyonya House.

I have been here before and this is my first visit since 2016. <br/><br/>Absolutely disgusted this time.<br/>I ordered the black pepper udon noodles with beef. When the food came I moved it around abit just as I was about to take a bite, my friend told me hey hey hey look at the meat.<br/><br/>It was bright red, with blood still dripping. <br/>First of all, I know that beef is safe to be eaten slightly raw. My reason for coming to an Asian restaurant is because I don't eat much meat myself these days and in a Malaysian restaurant you would expect the meat to be cooked on the outside at least and maybe medium rare inside. Nope.<br/><br/>I notified the staff and none of the 3 bosses were there that day. But a female staff with very long hair tied up, wears glasses, I heard she's been working here for quite a long time.<br/><br/>She said this<br/>"Just to let you know that this is perfectly normal because the chef slightly undercooks the meat to give it its tenderness"<br/><br/>I was furious. This isn't a piece of stake u don't leave it red and dripping blood. Don't try and justify uncooked food because other customers are wondering what's going on. Serving undercooked food is just not on.<br/><br/>I was insistent that I get my dish replaced and I ordered a veg dish instead.<br/><br/>Not to be dramatic but I would never come back here for any meat dishes. Vegetarian only. Also the food didn't taste that great tbh.<br/><br/>Nyonya house, please train your staff to handle situations like this.
Prophetmars666
Nyonya please please make your portion size bigger . I always have your nasi goreng but it is too small . It's not only me all the customers are complaining about it . Just saying don't force us to go to kampung :(

There are two Malaysian restaurants at Sanctuary Lakes. This is the best one. The dishes are very flavoursome and great quality. Prices are good and staff are very friendly.

We 4 of were here with my friend,we enjoyed a lot& ate lot , nice food,so sorry dint not have enough space for desserts,we b back for sure, I will definitely recommend to all my friends to go there and try there foods.

So far the food I tried were all nice. Maybe it would be even better if they could be a bit more generous.<br/>But overall, I'll be happy to come again.
Hungry Ronin
Not a bad Malaysian place. The kitchen knows what they're doing and gets the flavours quite spot on. The food does seem to be short cut Malaysian ie. not exactly using high end produce and fresh spices, but it'll do to get your fix. I actually love the dessert options here, especially the glutinous black rice which is disappearing in many indo-malay restaurants. A nice place to have for a local south east Asian resto.

Wow!! Great authentic food. Four main meals and a variety of entrees between us and all were fantastic. The service was excellent even thou the place was busy for a Tuesday lunch. Good prices here. This place will become a regular for my family. One of the best in the Western suburbs.

Ordered Cheng Fun yesterday at Nyona house, was quite nice. My friend ordered chicken rice looks delicious to me but I haven't get a chance to try their dishes, will be back again to point cook some time and try their food

My wife and I have been here at least once a month for the last 3 years. The food is pretty good and the staff have been quite nice. However, if this place is to be considered "kid friendly", their new "manager" leaves a lot to be desired. <br/><br/>We walked in around 3pm on a Wednesday with our 3 year old son and 1 year old daughter. Apart from us, there were just 2 other customers in there. We were shown to our seats and while we were settling down, our 3 year old suddenly started coughing and threw up. My wife (who was holding our 1 year old) immediately started wiping the floor with tissues. The "manager" asks us to the take the kid to the toilet outside the restaurant because she had customers. We apologised and as those who have kids can relate, these things are not planned. One of the girls who works there said she'll clean it up but the manager insisted my wife cleaned up the mess. So my wife continued wiping the floor with tissues and one of the girls brought out a plastic bag for my wife to put the tissues in. Once the floor was wiped, the girl brought out a mop and wiped the area (but left the plastic bag). My wife took our son to the toilet outside to wash him up and returned. We were about to sit when the "manager" asked us to take the plastic bag and throw it outside. Seriously, they got someone to mop the floor but not pick up a plastic bag AFTER my wife wiped the floor. We decided to leave.<br/><br/>Before leaving, I asked the "manager" if she had kids of her own. Of course she said no. Considering how defiant she was in her demeanor, it probably justifies her behavior in her mind. But I feel she was way too rude to be even working in a restaurant, let alone be a "manager". She didn't care she had lost 2 customers while apparently trying to please 2 other customers.<br/><br/>I apologised to the 2 customers sitting there and they were quite understanding and said "We've got kids, we know how it is. Hope you're son is ok". I guess the customers were "kid-friendly".<br/><br/>The only good thing that came out of this is that we discovered Kampung Story (just 4 shops away) where the food was great, portion sizes were larger and considerably cheaper too.<br/><br/>Safe to say, I won't be craving "nyonya" food anymore!
Josh Diaz
The most friendly, homely environment. .. ever. That and the food being AMAZING puts this place as a permanent go-to for my family and I. No msg in any of their dishes and always honest about their ingredients.
Charlotte Simons
LOVE THIS PLACE!!! Honestly, the best Malaysian food i've EVER had. absolutely loved the coconut rice and curry chicken. very good prices plus the drink range is massive with heaps of great choices. my fav is the green tea. yum!!
Goodfoodseeker
Best in the West for nyonya Malaysian I would say!  Not only in the authenticity, but the hygiene is tops! Take a peek into the kitchen and surrounds and you'd get what I mean. From what I understand they do not use MSG. I could eat these everyday: chicken curry nasi lemak, jasmine kandar - sambal prawns and fish fillet are my favourites. Don't forget the home brewed barley drink! Quality ingredients and freshness sets them apart! The assurance in knowing what you are eating frequently as I frequent this place is highly important! Only misgiving is that I have to pay for my takeaway box if I do need one on some occasions ... well blame some customers for asking for takeaway boxes even for a mouthful of leftovers!

A surprise found of this Malaysia restaurant near the Sanctuary Lake Golf Course. This place served fabulous authentic Malaysian food. We ordered the fish fillet soup noodles, roti jala, lemon chicken and chiew kuih and they are faultless. In fact I would considered this as the most authentic Malaysian restaurant that I found in Australia up to today. Service was fantastic even they were shorted staff. Will come back more! Love it!

Just move into the area I found this delicious Malaysian restaurant "Nyonya House" with friendly staff, superb coffee, and a lovely atmosphere. So when I can't be bothered to cook I know where to go for a delicious meal, with affordable prices
Andrew Michael
The best in the west! In fact, the best and cheapest Malaysian I have had. We hit this place up with my friends often and cannot fault any dish at any point! No matter my friends nationality this place is a hit!
Kelly Shen
Not much nice restaurant in the west but I have been there for more than 10times. Just love the Tom yum fried rice and Nasigoreeng, it is the best fried rice I have ever had.
Amit Tuteja
We always enjoy going to this place. It's our local favourite Malaysian diner. They have some interesting items on the menu besides the usual noodles and stir fried items. Their drink selection and different breakfast choices are also quite interesting. Service is attentive and the place is always buzzing with people we know. Try their Kaya Toast or mee goreng!!
Ron
Definitely great place for cha kwe tiao in Point cook area. Been here many times and their cha kwe tiao never dissapoints. The reason for 3.5 and not 5.0 is because by far cha kwe tiao is the best one they have here. I have tried their other foods but they are a bit dissapointment. Hopefully that will be better in the future. But for kwe tiao definitely the right place to go
K “KnoxChinese” Chin
Was there for brunch with Allan on Sunday. Good mix of Malaysian and local food. Teh Tarikh was yum!<br/>Service is superb. Very friendly boss and staff.

I love Nasi Goreng and I think I have found my favorite place that serves it! Who would have though it would be in a shopping center of all places!

I have been eating at Nyonya House Sanctuary Lakes for some time now and the food not to bad until Yesterday I ordered Sea Food Curry Luska on this occasion the bean shoots tasted real sour and had the appearance of a black brown colour the tofu had gone bad also the fish balls had a fishy smell they were on the way off even when I complained to the owner that the dish was bad they did not even offer any apologies what so ever so i will not eat there again avoid it at all costs.
Cluelesstraveller
Great Malaysian place in Point Cook. The nasi lemak and char kwe tiao is really good. I ordered the bubur chacha which is really good as well, perfect dessert for winter.

Will never ever recommend this restraurant to anyone.Went there with friends on this cold night having a taste of Malaysian in mouth.Ordered few drinks to start with and then Ordered mains and waited for 45 mins(normally in malaysian/thai restrau they dont take more than 10-15 mins for a dish to come on table ).When we asked how much more time will the order take Staff there asked the kitchen staff and they looked surprised. Then we were informed that there has been some malfunction in the machine and your order did not went through the kitchen staff.WTF? We were the only one who were left behind at that time .There were no apologies when we went to pay for drinks bill as we decided to not to eat further in this restaurant.I must say very poor customer service. If anyone bother to go to this restaurant make sure your order went through n keep on asking about it otherwise like us you have to go to other restaurant for food.

Just go. Brought parents who are top critiques of Malaysian food n they loved it.. nuff said. Esp seafood curry laksa. Sar hor fun should fry bit longer before put gravy. Nasi lemak prawn sambal is v gd, nasi itself can be a bit more fragrant.. ckt was gd. So yea, just go.<br/><br/>28/11 - Revisited. this time not so good.. perhaps due to fri night (pretty busy). char kuih kak was not fried much at all, kuih was still so hard it was still doughy/chewy (tho the flavours were gd). jasmine kandar - vege curry + curry chicken.. the vege curry was ok, but not the curry chicken (reminded me of canned curry chicken). nyonya fried rice - couldn't taste anything nyonya about it.. very average. spicy salty chicken wings - bit overfried, tasted bit flat.. so yea, unfortunately, seems like the quality can be inconsistent..
Michael
Stop by here. Good varied menu, nice waiting staff, fair prices and yum food. only complaint - the endless 6 minute looping video on the TV!

Great place for Malaysian Food. Nyonya House serves various Malaysian dishes which most Malaysian restaurants in Melbourne shy away from such as Kong Foo Chow (goes under the name of Sar Hor Fun), Hokkien Mee, Burbur Cha Cha, Kuih Kak, etc.The excellent service from their staff members have also contributed to our wonderful dining experience.
Ed4
Not as Authentic as Claimed. This place is for people who do not know what Malaysian food is!!!<br/>Four of us (all lived in Malaysia and Singapore for most of our lives) and have been in Melbourne for more than 20 years so we know what authentic Malaysian food is.<br/>There is no gurantee that just because the cook (sorry, nowadays anyone who can hold a wok is a chef) comes from that part of the world, he/she can prepare the dishes as they are supposed to be.Most Australians are polite and as they want their dining experience to be pleasant, sort of trundle along with "the food was good".<br/>What we had was just either too sweet, insipid or did not have the ingredients one finds in authentic dishes. When commented we were told that the locals (meaning white Australiana) liked it that way. So, that shows what they mean by authentic. We will not be going back.
Patricklim77
Penangite means a person from Penang. If you have been to Malaysia, you will know that Penang is a food paradise. A lot of the Malaysian restaurants in Australia will try to sell anything that you can find in Penang. <br/><br/>Had dinner at Nyonya House last night as I was around Point Cook. Had Char Kuey Teow, Kuey Kak, Char Hor Fun and now having their Nyonya Fried Rice (recommended).<br/><br/>Char Kuey Teow - Not bad, a lot of lap cheong but not spicy at all. Portion too small for that price.<br/>Kuey Kak - The idea is there but the keuy is too hard.<br/>Char Hor Fun - Very decent, something you can get anywhere. Small portion too.<br/>Nyonya Fried Rice - Too oily and pretty much just fried rice with a lot of chilli paste. Nothing special!<br/><br/>Overall, I don't think it's something worth trying unless you are living in the west as choices are limited. I won't go back again.<br/><br/>If you want good Malaysian food, try Laksa King in Flemington! Remember to book as they are pack everyday. Just suggesting a good Malaysian restaurant to all Malaysian food lover. My fav is the Char Hor Fun!!! Yummy and you won't regret.
Munchiesz.
To malay or not to malay.. In the state of being high I searched for some quality munchie induldgement<br/>Point Cook stuggles to present decent eating places however I would reccomend this place.<br/>I had the nasi -goreng spicy and really came out strong with spicy kicks. <br/>The nasi sets look dope and delish, have a suss for yourself. Probably won't be dissapointed!

Stunning.... Absolute Hidden wee gem at the Sanctuary Lakes shopping center... Beef Rendang, Nasi Goreng & Curry Chicken Roti... Lovely owner / Manager. Never too busy to have a little chat. :-)

Well what a surprise! We travel 24/7 and are always looking for a great cappuccino, great menu which turns out to be great food on your plate and friendly staff. Well we found it at this restaurant in point cook. If you are around the area don't miss it you won't be disappointed. Christine and Don

I have just been served fried chicken dumplings which were raw. Not impressed. Food not at all tasty. I won't be coming back here.
WelshRarebit
Standards are slipping here. The dishes were delivered in a ridiculous order. First up the golden chicken starter....with no plates so I went and got my own. Then one main was delivered. 3 pieces of meat in the Rendang I felt was unacceptable. Then a second starter. Then once I'd finished the rendang, my partners main came which was supposed to be crispy chicken but was devoid of meat. Then once that was left hardly touched the dumplings that were also ordered as an entree arrived for dessert. To put the tin hat on it, went to pay and was told no eftpos as the machine was broke so had to zip out to the atm while my partner stayed at the table. There is simply too much competition both in Sanctuary Lakes and the town Centre for your food and service to be this poor. Raise the game Nyonya but in future I'll eat elsewhere.
PeAeS
This place is a complete gem!!! <br/>We are there quite regularly, once every fortnight! The laksa is divine and on par with the ones I've had in Singapore (that's my benchmark. I know not Malay, meh!)<br/>The nasi goreng is the best I've ever tasted with so much flavour and not mention dessert with the sago & black sticky rice. Highly recommend it. <br/>I wish there was one of these in the CBD that I could go to for lunch!
Devan
Personally I liked the original menu.. Food still good but not as good of value as before. I miss the dumpling soup that used to go with the dryer curry :( now same price no dumplings!

The bestest. We continue to trial all the eateries at Sanctuary Lakes Centre and find Nyonya House to be consistantly superior to all others. The service can be delightfully eccentric on occasions but the staff are a joy . The food is essentially traditional Malaysian with some mellowing of flavours for. Western tastes. I note another diner is also addicted to sago pud but sadly , in my opinion, sago pud at Nyonya is not a destination dish but many other dishes are.

Tried this restaurant in Point Cook just on a whim and it turned out to be great meal. Excellent food with very friendly staff. I am usually quite fussy about my food but was pleasantly surprised that the food really tastes like the real deal. The Prawn Noodles and Char Koay Teow are exactly as I remember from the best of the best in my Malaysian hometown Penang. Syabas and well done to the staff for a great meal- I will be a returning customer. The only grouch I have is that now I've tried their food, whenever I want authentic Malaysian I will be taking long trips to dine here from my place in the city.

Muar Chee. Nyonya House serves muar chee! Love it. Can't find any muar chee in Melb. Made fresh to order, but have to order at the start of the meal to allow for cooking time. I am so excited that i found muar chee here.<br/><br/><br/>-----06 Mar, 2013-----<br/><br/>Great food, great place. This is a great place. No need to travel too far for good food now. Their curry chicken and rendang are very authentic. Tried their curry wanton Mee. The mix taste of the wanton sauce and curry chicken make this dish an excellent dish. I can eat this everyday for weeks...<br/>Will definitely try their other dishes as well.<br/>Ice lemon tea was very refreshing for hot days like now and the <br/> Coffee was a perfect finishing touch to our meal. 2 thumbs up!!

Sad Story for Malaysian Food. Worse than Kampung Story. I wish this family entrepreneur good luck with this store. Get a better chef or go back to Malaysia...

Best in the West!. Footscray, St Albans, Brimbank, Derrimut, Laverton, even Carlton .. I think this is still the best in the west!. The environment is clean and hygienic, friendly staff, ingredients are fresh and nice pastries too!. I would be back to try more dishes!! Btw, I actually went to Killiney to try their nasi lemak and also downtown Coconut House but think they use too much salt and lots of little biting insects around the restaurant.

Yummy food, friendly service. We've been coming to Nyonya House regularly over the last few months and have sampled their lovely Malaysian cuisine. Their prices are very reasonable and they have a great selection of traditional dishes. Our favourites are their laksa and their dessert "onde once". But we highly recommend trying everything. If you can't choose something or aren't familiar with Malaysian cuisine, the friendly staff have a lot of knowledge to guide you. Highly recommended!

Why so pricey?. Havent tried it yet cos the prices really put me off. I wonder is it due to rent n outgoings? Or more of a competitive situation. Price comparison - Nasi Lemak/Chicken Rice - Killiney Kopitiam $8.80, Chef Lagenda - Chicken Rice Special - $9.80, Coconut House, less than 9. U get the picture.

Friendly and good food. The food is tasty, authentic (making my Malaysian wife happy), reasonably priced and the service is friendly. It's only new, but it seems like a good place to grab something to eat and chat.

Fantastic chicken curry, a bit spicy but shiok!

In amongst the large and varied menu were two items we were eager to test - Chwee Kuei and Cheong Fan. I've written about my nostalgic love affair with Chwee Kuei before. There's not a lot that can beat these delightful steamed rice cakes topped with persevered vegetables and smothered (usually) in chilli sauce for the perfect savoury snack. Nyonya House's offering has the right ingredients, but comes across as a little too clean and clinical. I was hoping for a little more grease and that nutty hint of an over preponderance of sesame and chilli oil. But still, unless you're prepare to
