Reviews Port Albert Fish & Chip Co

If it were possible to give 1/2 stars, I'd rate this 3.5. Tried the flake, flathead tails and king george whiting - all were very good, the batter light and crispy. Enjoyed the pineapple fritters - sweet/tart fruit encased in the same crispy batter, a bit of a retro treat. There were a few negatives. Grilled, as opposed to deep fried, is not an option. Minimum chips lived up to its name, a very sparse serve. Potato cakes were dense, flavourless, obviously bulk purchased. Disappointing that this is a 'fish and chip' business that obviously takes pride in its fish, but doesn't seem to bother with the chips.

Simply the best. The only negative : it is quite far ! But the fish I had was superb. I had a few other "favourite" fish and chips place, but their quality had changed, either due to change in ownership, or recipe. I really hope the folks at Port Albert Wharf keep their recipe as it is...
EDIT: I went back for the third time. You know when u come back to a place only to discover "meh, wasn't as good as before". None of that ! Still as good as the first time I came here. Consistently good. Super happy chap!

Popped past on a cool late April afternoon. Seating is in the surrounding public park which is then surrounded by water. Prices are reasonable. We decided that 10 fish bites was going to be much better value than 2 flakes and were not disappointed. Fish, chips and potatoes cakes were all nice and crunchy.

Could this be best fish and chips in Victoria? Australia? Pretty big call but all I know is that today after reading some of the shops reviews my family and I travelled to Port Albert and sat in the car eating what was unanimously the best fish and chips we had come across. The freshness of the fish (Flake and Sand Whiting) was something to remember with the perfect batter. Prawns and scollops added to the mix with chips went so well with the view of the boats coming in and out. We drove from Yanakie (near Wilson's Prom) to Port Albert based on reviews, and hope this review sends a few more travellers to this little gem :)

Very nice, good quality and fresh. Chips were very crispy on outside and fluffy on the inside, fish was delicious with nice thin batter. Located in beautiful Port Albert Wharf, you can sit and eat it near the water.

Very friendly staff and the fish and chips were pretty reasonable. Beautiful location and the venue was quite nice. A few walking options nearby with your fish and chips too.

Best fish & chips I have had in a long time. Flake was fresh and tender, potato cakes tasted like they did in my childhood and ships although not cut on site were cooked perfectly. Looking forward to my next trip to the area to have it again.

The best fish and chips we have had while travelling around. We had flake, scallops and potato cakes. The potato cakes have a decent slice of potato. The batter is light and crunchy and not too fatty. Excellent, would recommend highly.

Absolutely amazing, best fish and chips I’ve had 👌🏻 prices are very reasonable, the menu has everything you want but it was not overwhelming, the homemade tartare was good, the service was friendly. The view was gorgeous. I liked the calamari batter, but unfortunately it picked up a lot of salt in its texture and so ended up painfully salty.

The best fish and chips I’ve had in ages! Very busy but totally worth the wait. Beautiful light and crispy batter, crunchy and well seasoned chips. Nothing beats fresh whiting. Would come back to Port Albert purely for the fish and chips
