Review Angus & Bon - Prahran

I’ve been to Angus & Bon a few times and never a disappointment. I was there again last night with a friend (her first time) and she absolutely loved it. Ambiance and food was sensational! Steaks are cooked to perfection. Service is phenomenal with great variety of wines. Highly recommended if you’re after a nice steak! And their mac n cheese… best I’ve had!!!!! Forgot to take photos last night, the photos shared are from a while back.

Always wanted to try this restaurant and finally came around in doing so and do not regret it one bit! By far one of the best restaurants when it comes to succulent steak and amazing cocktails. The customer service my partner and I received last night were beyond our expectations. They made us feel right at home. Would highly recommend this place to anyone!

Arguably one of the best steaks in Melbourne. I’ve had steak in rockpool, steer and other popular steak restaurants but none of them were as good as Angus and Bon. The steaks were cooked perfectly medium rare and the cuts were juicy and the cut were just the right amount marbling. The there’s the sides… the maple carrots were so appetizing and hand cut chips were the perfect balance of crunchiness and fluffiness of the potato. It’s been so good that once lockdown was lifted we came straight away in 2021 for my birthday and can’t wait to come back again!!! Highly recommend Angus and Bon for any steak lover!

Lovely steak dinner here. The 800g grass-fed rib eye was very tasty, and cooked just nicely at medium. 👍

If you want prime steak- this is the place. You might pay a bit ($150+), but it will be memorable! There are other choices, along with a good selection of wine, beer and spirits. If you have room (and we did!), there is dessert too. It is a reasonably large establishment with a choice of seating inside or outside. Outside had live music, inside was out of the weather. They did forget our coffee order, but we were not in a hurry. Considering what we spent on the meals and how long we waited for the coffees, it should have been compt'. However, it was a nice place to sit and chat. Lose 1x star. 🌟 If you get all your orders without any hiccups, you'll have a 5-star experience, and waddle away happy. If you are interested, Google will help you understand the historical link of the name to a famous Rock Group. (Hint: It is not named after a breed of cattle)

🥩 eye fillet 🐮 porterhouse ❤️ beetroot salad 🐟 tuna tartare 🥖 chorizo 🍟 fries 🏠: @angusandbon 📍: Prahan 📝: Angus & Bon is housed in the old Prahran Post Office. This stylish steak house is the perfect place to spend your night for everyone, especially for you meat lovers. ❤️: The best steak I’ve had so far 😍, in love with their steaks. The steaks are well seasoned and cooked to the perfect extent. You can taste the quality in the meat they use. Words can’t explain how impressed I am, so please do yourself a favor and try!

Lovely looking place and super polite staff which is lovely. For the steak i found their selection variety not good enough for me. Then steak felt a bit pricy for what was offerd on the plate. My steak was cooked wrong and had to go back to be corrected. The taste was acceptable but i kept comparing it with few other places in my mind thinking i would much rather them. All and all a good place but not sure if i count days to go back

Updated review:

Post Corona visit: was looking forward to tonight due to the amazing porterhouse the last visit: decide to go better & get the fillet this time: it’s came to the table looking great but my whole piece of steak was chewy & so disappointing: no sure what happened here but Not sure if I wanna come back since I felt so cheated. It’s was a very expensive but dissatisfied dinner: giving it a 2 this time & no a happy chap

Previous review:

We went as a group for Wednesday date nite: it’s couple shared 500g porterhouse with seasonal greens & salad & also a drink. Chips r not included. We were told they tend to undercook at this joint so we went for medium as opposed to our normal medium rare. We did order extra chips, wine and donut as dessert. Everything was great but the porterhouses was the star. The medium here is exactly our medium rare and it was sensational. Dessert was outstanding and the Pinot Noir was absolute Devine. If u r as tight as me, the best deal is Monday & Tuesday as for 50cebts more u get 50g more beef and also chips. And u don’t have to share so u can order your own sauce. The Ambience was very New York cool. Dark & sexy and just put u at ease. Can’t wait to come back ASAP.

Overpriced for what you get. Service is poor.

3.5
Called into this really impressive bar down Greville Street for Pre dinner drinks. Lux interiors oozed charm and the prominent bar was well stocked. We both had wine and sat outside while there was a least a small amount of sunshine left. The Rose we chose were served very cold so taste bud numbing and needed a little sitting before the flavour came through. I didn’t explore the food menu as was dining elsewhere but other people’s looked good... will have to drop in for a meal one day soon.

We went for our special dinner. The service was good. The food was good though portions were adequate if you order two courses like we did. Desert we had was excellent.

Had the most magnificent scotch steak here, juicy flavourful and perfectly cooked. Everything else we got was great here too (including croquettes, onion rings and grilled sweetcorn) but the steaks are absolutely the star. Can't wait to return

It’s the little things that really catch our attention. Like the catchy “down the hatch” phrase on the wine glass, or the fact that our oysters got special treatment despite not being ordered by the dozen. We were really blown away by the service, food, decor and overall feel of Angus and Bon. We will be back!

Went to the $30 steak night which went as below;
Steak: Ordered medium and the steak came out more rare than a Charizard card. The joint was packed so fair enough but if you are particular about your "doneness" then I'd make a point when ordering
Chips: Not bad
Salad: Delicious
Bearnaise: Delicious
Wine: Lovely shiraz
Homemade tomato sauce: Absolutely disgusting... Tasted like tinned soup with tobasco sauce. If you enjoy abit of tomato sauce with your meal then I'd strongly recommend byo.

This chic bar and restaurant is one of my favourite date night destinations because of it's moody ambience and fabulous service. Angus and Bon is decorated beautifully with it's muted lighting and glamorous and intimate table groupings. The finer details are perfect with their fun glassware and china, and the wait staff are attentive, friendly and perfect hosts.

The food at Angus and Bon lives up to it's surrounds, and the steak in particular is a real hit here. On our most recent visit we had an amazing terrine and ham hock croquettes. The terrine was perfect with the toasted bread, and the croquettes were crispy with a soft and salty ham filling. Absolutely delicious.

Not one to pass up steak when it's done so well here; we had the share steak with bernaise sauce, potatoes and a tangy beetroot salad. Perfectly cooked beef was tender and juicy, and the serving sizes were generous. All the sides were fabulous, and I loved the five different ways that the potatoes were prepared.

A delicious homemade quince tart for dessert, and some fantastic wine completed this fabulous dinner. The pastry was lovely and short and the quinces were just right. Our waiter was fabulous and made sure that we had everything we needed, and I would definitely rate the service at Angus and Bon highly. Whether we are popping in for a drink or two; or a full dinner, we never fail to be impressed by this lovely venue.

First impression were good. I love the location and ambiance of this restaurant. We made our booking for a Thursday night. Place was fully booked and even though we made a booking for 8:15 seating our table was still not ready for us.
Food took about 1 hour to come out. No one attended to us to let us know or even to check to see if we wanted some more drinks. Disappointing. Lucky we ordered 4 sides which were $10-15 each as the presentation was poor. One tiny steak was served on a plate with our condiment of choice. I have added photos to demonstrate this. I do have to say though the food quality was very good and everything we got was super delicious and tasty.
I would have liked to see the steaks however served on a bed of something even if it was a garnish of lettuce/asparagus/mash....
Also a serve of fresh baked rolls or something whilst we were waiting would be a lovely addition when you expect your guests to wait 1 hour for food! Is this even acceptable ? No apologies either.

Beautifully laid out restaurant and bar, with a very intimate vibe- Angus and Bon was a beautiful restaurant to eat at.

Service from our waiter was extremely pleasant and friendly, without been over-intrusive and picked up on all the cues from the group with ease.

I came as part of a group of 8 for dinner on a Sunday night and the restaurant wasn’t overly busy - so service was efficient.

We shared the Wagyu Bresaola and grilled calamari for entrees; and then hubby and I both had the Kobe Wagyu for mains- trying both the eye fillet and the scotch. In terms of cooking and preparation- we did find the scotch fillets were better prepared across the board, even though I normally prefer an eye fillet. The cafe de Paris butter and Bernaise sauces were very delicious accompaniments.

We also got to sample a lot of the sides- the baked potatoes and chips were a standout, as were the slow cooked carrots with goats curd. I could have left the braised green speck and foraged mushrooms and found them a bit lacking for the price paid.

If I was in the area again I wouldn’t hesitate coming back for a drink and dinner, provided they hadn’t closed their kitchen early and maybe try some different options on the menu.

A great place for a catch up, good food with good service and a local so we’ll definitely be back 😊

Stunning restaurant and beautiful food.
My partner and I went on a Monday after seeing their $30 steak deal advertised online.
We got 2 very decent 300g porterhouse steaks with fries and salad, 2 glasses of wine, half a dozen oysters, onion rings and a dessert all for just over $100!
I get that it’s a special but seriously amazing value for really great food and the regular menu items were decently priced as well.
The onion rings were deliciously crunchy but not too oily. The oysters were fresh and served with a super tasty shallot vinegar. The steak was great, served with delicious sauces and an assortment of mustards offered.
Not only was the food great but the restaurant itself is stunning and the service was also very professional and prompt!
We look forward to returning!

Here for the first time on a Monday night with my partner and we enjoyed the steak special which includes a 300g porterhouse, salad, chips, bernaise (which is air-rated #delish) and a glass of red all for $30.
We added half a dozen oysters and a side of onion rings as well as desert.
Everything was outstanding. I’ve read reviews about poor service, our wait staff were very attentive and our experience was very pleasant.
Steak was a stand out. Looking forward to returning

Came here with family for lunch, probably would of given it 3 stars based on a couple of the other dishes but my eye fillet was pretty woeful, I struggled to eat it as it was very chewy which is not what I expect from a fillet, the bernaise and pepper sauce was divine but totally let down by the steak, which was also cut right down the centre, I’m guessing so the chefs could check how cooked it was. The service was pretty average but I don’t ever rate on that, just the food which the consensus was pretty average.

A group of us decided to give Angus & Bon another try after not having a great experience in the restaurant in 2018. Unfortunately there doesn't seem to have been any improvement in the service and attitude of the staff.

- One of our group told the waitress that she has an allergy to spinach but there was clearly spinach in her salad. When she asked for it to be re-plated, the waiter gave a sarcastic comment along the lines of "do you want me to fire the lady who give it to you?" when a simple apology would have sufficed.

- It was a Tuesday night and we were not allowed to split the bill. Honestly this would have been OK if we had been told when we had booked the table or when we had arrived. Not everyone can afford to pay for dinner and drinks for 15 people!

- Most, if not all, of our steaks were undercooked (mine was extremely rare when I asked for medium-rare) but the food took a while for to come out in the first place that we didn't want to wait any longer for them to correct it.

- It was completely out of order to ask us to be quiet. The restaurant was almost full and there was lots of buzz. We were not creating any more noise than what you would expect from a table of 15 friends having dinner on a long table.

Definitely won't be back!

I’ve been here twice now and each time we have been subjected to the rudest waiting staff, I’m not sure if this is the way the management train their staff I’m assume it probably is, however there was no legit reason for them to be rude, literally rolling eyes when we asked for a napkin, and rolling eyes when asking for another drink.

On top of this the food was very average and 3 of Steaks were not cooked correctly, clearly the chef does not have experience cooking steaks. I’ll add we never complained as we were scared we get our heads bitten off.

I would not recommend this place to anyone STAY CLEAR!

Our party had booked a table for 15 on the 3rd - we were provided 14 seats - when it was reiterated we booked for 15 the manager rolled her eyes and said “ I guess I could get a chair from outside” not a great start.

I won’t comment on the speed of the service as 15 people is a lot to accommodate for. However....

It was quite a special occasion, as one of our dearest friends is leaving Australia after spending a number of years here. So you can imagine we were in high spirits, lots of chat and laughter.

Any sort of establishment has the right to refuse service or ask a customer to leave, but to receive the attitude we did is just astounding.

We were told moments before paying there were no splits, this should of been communicated before we ordered or booked our table - and the attitude we received from this was quite shocking.

We were then asked to leave due to being “Too loud” I can honestly say I think we laughed collectively maybe 3 times the noise complaint really was false. As there were tables with lesser numbers, making the same level of noise and contributing to the ambiance.

We won’t be returning as a group or individuals again, as the service, attitude and food for that matter was subpar.

We were a group of 4 and decided to try the breakfast offering here. The service was truly fantastic, very attentive and lovely, even though we were sitting outside (sometimes out of mind out of sight!)

I tried the coddled eggs as it’s something I’ve never had before, and it was a very different texture than I was expecting. I thought it would be thicker like custard but it was a lot thinner and hard to dip the bread in as it was quite a shallow dish. My husband had the banana bread and I had the biggest food envy, that tasted absolutely delicious!

Coffee was great too, worth a try!
Good Food Good Mood
Impromptu date night at Angus and Bon led us to the realisation they do $30 steak frites on Monday’s with a wine or beer. This is a great way to try this venue out without breaking the bank and as a 300g porterhouse accompanied by bernaise it was so filling we couldn’t even eat dessert.

The space itself is very dark and modelled on a New York style steakhouse. I found the service a little frosty but the value was pretty sound. Unfortunately they mixed up our steaks and I received my husbands medium and he my rare. We were able to swap after we noticed but I was pretty unimpressed as his plate had been contaminated by mustard which I personally loathe and despise. Would definitely venture back though

Beautifully set out restaurant with a bar in the middle. Had a totally New York vibe. Very comfortable booths for seating without being squashed in.

We ordered the prawns, calamari, rib eye, porterhouse with a beef and pepper sauce as accompaniments and a mixed mushroom side.House salad came with the steaks. Drinks were Belvedere vodka with Soda water and lemon and scotch and dry.

The entrees of prawn and calamari were outstanding and delicious. The steaks were cooked to perfection and the sauces were sublime. The mushrooms were the highlight for me. Even the salad and dressing was perfect.

Our waiter was attentive without being intrusive. He was so attuned as to when to speak to us etc.

I’d definitely go back and recommend this place as the food was faultless.
Was pleased with the food and service here :)

The food came out relatively quickly to our surprise.
Both my partner and I ordered the Kobe Wagyu, medium rare and it came out perfect! The wagyu was tender and melted in our mouths.
We also had a salad for the table which was drenched in dressing which made the salad almost impossible to eat because it was so sour!

We ordered the “side of potato” and onion rings. The onion rings were huge and packed with flavour. The potato provided a nice touch with our mains.

We also ordered table bread as an entree but it arrived after our mains so it was complimentary.

Overall a great experience and will definitely come again.

A real grown up dining experience with the right level of finesse to accompany a welcoming environment of dimmed lighting, fire burning on a cold Sunday winter night and efficient service.
We plumped for the special which, for 2 people, was a 500g porterhouse accompanied by chunky hand cut chips, two sauces (we went for bernaise and creamy pepper) and a chargrilled beetroot salad. A very good deal at $75 (normally we do not eat the same meals at restaurants but this was steak - if we are both eating steak, why not do the special?). Accompanied by an excellent Malbec ($70) followed by three cheeses ($27). Essentially $200 for two - not cheap, but quality excellent so pretty good value for money.
One issue stopped it being 4.5 in my markings - cheese served at fridge temperature rather than room temperature. May sound picky but when eating in such a restaurant, expectations are higher. But would not stop us coming back if/when we are on this side of the river! (Apparently they do mid-week, mid-price specials).
Weber Man
The perfect building and space for a modern steakhouse with a central bar and booths down book adjacent an open kitchen. The Happy Hour is a triumph with $8 Guinness and $2.5 Super fresh Oysters. Eventually settled into a booth and ordered a Kobi Scotch which was very tender and soft it needed to be refired but that is okay as I could enjoy another glass of Banockburn while I waited. The group I was with didn’t enjoy there Kobi but you have to realize the beast is fed seaweed and tastes completely different to grass fed Gippsland beef which has a stronger taste with firm flesh. Looking forward to going back and working that happy hour again! There are a few little service inconsistencies but they are minor.
Simply WonderFood
What a great find! Angus and Bon has become my new favourite steak place with really affordable yet super tasty deals on mondays, tuesdays and thursdays. On these selected nights they offer steak frites for $30 and controversially, i enjoyed it more than the famous entrecote!

My partner and I met a mate here for some drinks and bar food. The service was excellent, really professional and attentive.

We had some craft beers and some dirty martini’s. All of which were delicious lol

Food wise we had some arancini balls, which were delicious, the pork terrine was some of the best I’ve ever had! Just perfect!

The fries were good, and overall this was a great night. This place is definitely worth a visit if your in the area.

Aman Saraf

Came here on a Wednesday night, manager’s attitude was EXTREMELY SARCASTIC & straight up rude when we asked to check on our order. Every other staff was nice though. Food wise, nothing great. Would not come back.
Tqtru1
The service was so disguised. The manager was rude and liar. He denied and blamed the booking was done by another party, not a restaurant. When we arrived he denied that the restaurant had never been contacted for the order

3.5 We thoroughly enjoyed the Full Angus and Bon Breakfast. Mirroring the traditional Full English Breakfast, the giant plate had it all. Two perfectly poached eggs were accompanied by delicious pork sausage, thick cut bacon, sautéed mushrooms, potato hash, ham hock beans, roasted tomatoes, and of course black pudding. Our favourite was definitely the ham hock beans, with a rich, appetising tomato base and such tender pulled ham hock mixed within the baked beans. The sausage was also full of flavour, and exceptionally juicy, which was contrasted by the lean, lightly smoked bacon.

Beautiful ambience. Had dinner on a Friday night for anniversary celebration.

Must try:
Full blood David Blackmore wagyu beef with cheese and fig;
David Blackmore full blood beef ribeye;
Tasmania oysters

$220 spent in total include 2 glass of Bordeaux and Margaret river Chardonnay. Cozy place for friend and family gathering.

Angus and Bon is a New York style steakhouse but has now opened for brunch on the weekend and are serving up some satisfying breakfast options from 9 in the AM. The decor is classic and the food is comforting and what I can guarantee is a hearty breakfast full of flavour. They have some light options, some heavier ones, or you can go all out and get the full Angus & Bon breakfast with all the trimmings, black pudding included. So much yes.
Foodforthought
We had a few dishes here including the eye fillet and share steak. We also had a number of sides ; onion crips and beetroot, coleslaw.
Everything was fantastic! The ambience, staff and service are all fantastic. Felt like we were in a fancy pub in London - just loved it !

Top quality service, delectable food, incredible setting. Cannot fault.
Being from Ireland we are quite picky about 2 things in life - beef and guiness. Both of which are delievered to the highest standard in Angus & Bon - makes living halfway across the world more tolerable.
Caroline Beaney
Angus & Bon is the perfect restaurant for a date. The restaurant area is quite pretty. The serving sizes are generous. My friend really liked the steak, and I was amazed how large the steak was! I ordered the pork belly - I found parts of the pork belly to be dry and wish there had been more apple included in my dish and a bit more sauce would have helped the dish be less dry.

The desserts were stunning and beautiful. I ordered the chocolate mousse and couldn’t complain about it.
Flying Forward
Lovely classy interior, reminding me of the classic steakhouses in London like Hawksmoor and Goodmans.
With any steakhouse, go with the best you can afford.
The sirloin on the bone has delicious beefy flavour, and it picks up an extra layer of flavour from the smokiness of the woodfire grill.
The eye fillet was perfectly grilled medium rare, and was very soft as expected.
Chips were hot, nicely crunchy and crisp on the outside.
Can't pass up a round of doughnuts - these were freshly fried and were soft and pillowy in the middle.
Chloe Bao
A local fav, particularly the freshly shucked oysters which are a steal during happy hour. Steaks consistently deliver every time - perfectly cooked medium rare
Frankie44
Went to Angus & Bon having heard many great reviews from friends and was utterly disappointed- mainly in the staff. The guy who was serving us took my order- Medium eye fillet - had to send it back because it was definitely not cooked to Medium- Tried to send it back and they literally just flash-fried it (see photo) - when I again said it wasn’t done properly he argued with me saying such things as ‘Steak is the chef’s speciality’, ‘our chefs are very well trained to cook steak’, ‘if it was rare, it would be bleeding’ & maybe you should order Medium Well Done in future! I have ordered Medium steak in countless restaurants that specialize in steak and have never ever had Medium cooked like this !!! Very disappointed and more disappointed In the fact that the waiter tried to argue with me. When it came to dessert he placed the dessert menu in front of us all and literally 25-30mins only later did he the. attend to us to ask us our dessert choice. I was ready to leave by then. Extremely poor service!! Won’t won’t be back!

Would never go back just on that ! Not worth it !

We decided to come here on a Sat night for dinner because we are always on the lookout for a new steak restaurant and we read good things about Angus & Bon. We ordered the oysters to start. They were really fresh and a great start to the meal. We then ordered 3 steaks: the ribeye, the t bone and the sirloin. All 3 steaks were cooked perfectly (medium rare) and charcoal grilled. They came with sauces of our choice and a bowl of well-dressed salad leaves. The smokiness of the steak was beautiful and each steak was tender and flavourful. The hand-cut chips were to die for: crispy and flavourful. The grilled corn is a must too: spicy from the jalapenos, cheesy and sour from the lime. I wished we had space for dessert but we were so full. Our server was very chirpy, friendly and recommended an amazing wine to have with the steaks. I ordered a mocktail that took too long to be served to the table and he gave it to us on the house. We stayed for 3.5 hours talking, eating and drinking and did not feel pressured to leave. It was a great dinner and we will definitely be back.

I ordered the king prawns , oysters , fish , chicken , corn , and O’Connor rib eye steak with cafe de Paris butter and bearnaise sauce ..
the only thing I really enjoyed was the sauces and oysters and corn the prawns were meaty which I loved but as for the fish chicken .. completely bland cause they poach it but it wasn’t the best , as for the steak when I’m paying 59 dollars for a steak I expect it to be at lease not tough chewy so I was abit disappointed cause these guys are known for their steak... I probably would maybe go back again but order a more priemium piece of meat if it’s even going to be worth it .. it just go back for the sauces
Chronicles Of A Foodie
We were really impressed wit this local restaurant. We always tend to have quite a few entrees prior to our mains. We started with a couple of individual pieces being the croquettes and pork rillettes on grilled baguettes which were really tasty. Next we had the confit lamb ribs which was delicious if you like rich and meaty and we also had the wood fired King prawns which was full of flavour and the prawns were really fresh.
We actually cancelled my partner’s steak dish as we were really full so we shared the beef short rib which was a meat eaters heaven!!!!! I loved this dish beyond words, if I’m in my meaty mood I’m going for this every time, I had a side of roasted beetroot with goats curd and hazelnuts....loved it.
We finished off with dessert and some dessert wine, which again were lovely. The atmosphere is vibrant and happy and the service was quick, super friendly and professional.

**3.5 stars** This restaurant serves modern Aussie cuisine - wood grill steak with classic sauces and sides. It also offers vegetarian and seafood options. Overall, I found the food to be quite pricey ($95, dishes for two) which wasn’t too bad but wasn’t filling for two. Service was slow as well, however, I did enjoy the ambience. The place has a club-house look and feel which makes it a pretty awesome place to hang with friends.

Service was great, not so in your face and not standoffish.
Steak was very soft, chips and onion rings serving was spot on. Good selection of wines by the glass.

They've done their homework on what people like and got it right.

Will be back.

DO: The steaks. Any of them. When the chef is Ex Rockpool, you do the damn good steak.

DON'T: Forget the sides. Chips and onions rings went down a treat. But fave was Mac and Cheese.

TIP: Save room for dessert. The doughnuts killed it and the caramel parfait was one of the best in Melb

3.5

Came here for the Bottomless Brunch option. At first I was quite disappointed as I felt like the Bottomless Brunch advertisement was not well explained. The sign indicated that the Bottomless Brunch was $39 for cocktails and a sandwich, burger or main dish. It turned out to be $39 for the cocktails only, and you must order a main dish. The menu did not offer any brunch fare, and had rather heavy dishes (steaks, chicken, pork, fish or pasta) at the $30+ price point. There was no burger option and the only sandwich option was a steak sandwich. I was pretty close to walking out but decided to stay and give the drinks a go.

I'm glad I did, because the wonderful staff really turned things around for me. They were ON POINT with the service, so attentive and I was never without a drink. I was thoroughly impressed and it really made all the difference.

The cocktails included with the Bottomless Brunch were delicious! No complaints there!

My dining companion and I tried the mushroom risotto and the chicken. It was odd eating these dishes during brunch time. Food was ok.

Lovely restaurant atmosphere and location for drinks, and great service.

3.5

Came here on Saturday night with our family. We booked a table at 8.15 pm arrived there on time but we got to sit down at 8.35 pm as they didnt have a table ready for us not sure why.

The staff was nice but not as attentive as other restaurant with the same price range.

We started off with mussels pot and bone marrow, they were really sensational.

For the main, we had 3 steaks, market fish, pork belly and mushroom risotto. The steaks were a bit burnt. But the rest was delicious!

While I wasn’t thunderstruck by Angus and Bon, I was well impressed. Steaks with salads, mash, truffles, wine and a decent martini. Great interior and satisfying vibe.

I absolutely love this restaurant. The food is fresh and delicious! The service is excellent, the staff is friendly and efficient despite the fact that the restaurant is pretty large and dinner times can get extremely busy. I loved the dessert the first time I visited and had to go back for more - we ended up ordering almost every dessert on the menu!

Fantastic new addition to Grenville Street Prahran. As the name suggests, you get a great steak here. Cooked to perfection. All of the accompanying sides we chose were delicious. Ordered the ribs as an entree which were a bit of a mixed bag. Some were meaty and delicious, others were just fatty and unappetising. This is probably the only spot the lost points on for me. Exceptional wine list which paired well with our dinner.
The service was fantastic and the ambience of the restaurant made you feel like you were having an intimate dinner.
The desserts sounded delicious, but I was too full to order any!
We will definitely be back to this local gem

This place is incredible. Great set out, and great vibes. Fantastic staff, who evidently really enjoy their job , customer service was fabulous. My friend and I only came in for desserts and a drink, but their desserts were incredible , we had the donuts and the mousse & they both were SO delicious!!! Their drinks were also fabulous, we will definitely be back , great food & great service! We had a wonderful experience. Would highly recommend.

Despite the stunning interior we experienced Terrible service & quality food. Over priced. Steak was rare on one side & over cooked on the other. What was specified on the menu was not delivered. Would not recommend.

Lovely room and fit out. Staff very attentive and well on top of menu. The beef rib was exceptional as too the eye. The pork scratchings with a bier, well Mmmmm pork and bier. A perfect addition to the area. Definitely an Arnie comment.

We had an excellent meal! My husband and I went here for his birthday. For entree we ordered the Wood Grilled Calamari & Grilled Bone Marrow. Both items were yummy. I would have loved to have more marrow on my plate. For mains and sides we ordered the beef short ribs, Rib eye on the bone 400g, hand cut chips & slow cooked carrots. The steak & ribs were cooked to perfection & sides were just yum. We ordered way too much food but enjoyed every bit of it. The restaurant itself is amazing with a grand entrance. The ambience is romantic and perfect for celebrations as well as a good hang out restaurant with friends and family.

We absolutely love this place. There is no better place to chill hang or have date night all in 1 place. Bar, outdoor seating, high chairs or traditional seating make this the ultimate all in 1 dinning house.

Head chef is from Rockpool which gives it extra bonus points as we all know Rockpool deliver one of the finest steaks in Melbourne. Angus and Bon definitely match it (if not even better) - they have made luxury fulfilled in all conditions whilst maintaining the best quality / cooked food you can get.

We got to try the rib eye on the bone and it was absolutely the highlight for us so far in 2018. Perfectly cooked medium rare and salted with precision gave us no choice but to devour it!

We also got to try the pork belly which was a tiny bit over cooked but nevertheless, still tasted amazing. A bar with unlimited options led us to give the waiter to decide the drinks for us - it ended up being some great cocktails!

We are so glad to have come to Angus and Bon and hope the success continues as they build their newly received reputation for steak in Prahran.

Instagram @dailyfoodnews

After seeing this newly opened steakhouse, it was a must to try it out. I’d say it’s an upper class pub like steak restaurant and great for a meal with friends or work colleagues.
The food was a treat and thoroughly enjoyed the starters, oysters and chargrilled prawns. Steak was a definite highlight, beautifully cooked and completed really well by the bearnise sauce and crunchy thick cut chips. The salad didn’t do much to add to the meal.
We finished with lemon curd donuts and I’d go back just for them they were that good.
I’ll definitely be back soon.

Channelling New York hospitality establishments espousing casual grandeur, stylish steak house and brunch hot spot, Angus & Bon has opened a fiery blaze on Greville Street, Prahran.

Angus & Bon is anchored with two restaurant stalwarts at the helm, Liam Ganley and Declan Carroll. Liam Ganley landed in Melbourne following the European economic downturn and with his building and design background and his fiancée Margaret Lawless’ hospitality background on hand; the team then proceeded to open Lemon Middle and Orange and then The Fifth Province and Freddie Wimpoles.

Mid week visit for drinks and decided to stay on for dinner.
Really well fitted out premises, spacious and inviting.
Efficient service and awesome food. Thoughtful wine list.
The grilled Bone Marrow was superb as were the Rib Eye steaks.

This place was simply TOO GOOD not to express my wonderful experience. Booked here for Valentine's Day simply because every where else was booked out. The atmospherics and interior was stunning, perfect dim lighting, table setting, and the bar in the middle gave it some really cool and relaxed vibes. I ordered the market fish and my partner got the sirloin steak. He compared it to pretty much Rockpool!!! The char grill flavours and meat was perfectly cooked medium rare. The reason I've given this 4.5 stars instead of a full 5 was because my market fish was a little over-cooked. It was either this or the choice of fish they had wasn't the best... None the less the flavours were all there. Wonderful selection of sides aswell, we got the wood grilled corn, hand cut chips and sautéed mixed mushrooms , mushrooms could have used abit less salt. Regardless that some of the waiters were only 1-3 days into their shifts, they showed excellent customer service and professionalism, very much added to the 'fine-dining' like experience we received. Will definitely be back!!

I 100% admit to thinking I was walking into a Rock Restaurant when I first read about this place, and in part I guess I was. References to Angus Young and Bon Scott are scattered throughout newbie 'Angus & Bon', the steakhouse the Chapel Street precinct and Prahran has needed for a long while. However this venue is far short of damaging your ear drums with obnoxiously loud music and displaying tacky signed guitars a-la Hard Rock style. Instead, sleek finishes with hardwood, leather booths and an incredible island bar are what you'll find in Greville Street's old Prahran Post Office building.

Killer cocktails will greet you at the bar if that's what you're in for. Beautifully paired with all of their entrees and cuts of meat (red wine almost takes a back seat), of which there are many great options. To start fresh oysters are hard to look past but it was the grilled prawns so full of flavour that floated my boat to start. With Declan Carroll (Rockpool stalwart) getting things going on the grill, it's hard to choose a cut of meat here that won't have you frothing at the mouth. Wagyu, pork belly, lamb and seafood as well as up to 50 day grass fed beef all awaits, each getting it's share of time on the grill.

For an old world feel with a brilliantly modern classic menu and vibe, Angus and Bon won't disappoint your next craving for the perfectly cooked steak.
Brilliant new addition to Greville street. Spacious and sophisticated interior with an open kitchen. Menu is extensive with a focus on the grill. We ordered the char grilled king prawns with garlic seaweed butter for entree. A nice light start to the meal. Then for mains I had the eye fillet with pepper sauce and we shared the broccoli and carrot side dishes. The steak was perfect. One of the best I’ve had in long time.

A great new up-market addition to the Prahran area, Angus & Bon is the posh steak house, Chapel St has been missing. The fit out is beautiful, sleek and very classy from the bar to the rounded booths.

I came for a birthday dinner in a group of 10 which were seated at the corner of the restaurant, on an elevated platform at a big round table. We all thought we had the best seats in the house, and perhaps we did except for one minor detail. It was SO hot! Yes, it was a hot 30 degree summers night but even after opening the windows (as we were all embarrassingly fanning ourselves with the menus) respite was scarce to none. I reckon the ventilation or air-conditioning needs to be looked at especially in that corner as the air felt stale and stagnant (far from any breeze/vents).

That being said I thought the food and wine were pretty delicious. Great quality steaks, cooked well with a beautiful char. My partner and I shared the Steak (For 2) which came with Corn, Broccoli and a onion puree sauce. I wasn't so excited by the veg but the steak was gorgeous and melted in the mouth... however not sure it was worth the $95 price tag!

Taking it back to the entree we shared the pork croquettes which were really good! I also got to tuck into the potato fries (tasty), onion rings (not my favourite) and the carrots (pretty good).

I would recommend it for anyone looking for steak in the area but be prepared to fork out $$ as most are upwards of $40. Wine was great and so was the service.

I was very excited to try this new place on the back of a recommendation from a work colleague who shares the same passion for a mouth-watering cut of a steak as i do.

I was not disappointed.

A spacious, New York- inspired fitout immediately sets a cool vibe for the night. Albeit on a Tuesday night, the size of the venue left it feeling a bit empty. A different story on a Friday or Saturday night I would imagine.

Despite my colleague recommending the wood grill king prawns, our waitress recommended we opt for the wood grill calamari to kick things off. A delicious, smokey starter which left The Judge and I itching for the main course.

We decided to split the sirloin on the bone (350g) and premium tenderloin (220g), also on the recommendation of the waitress. The sirloin was nice, slight chewy at times but overall a satisfying cut. The tenderloin was a class above, cooked to perfection oozing with the flavour from the grill - the highlight of the meal. We chose the pepper sauce (which lacked slightly) and the cafe dear Paris butter sauce which packed a flavoursome punch.

We decided to go the hand cut chips as a side which had a home-made feel to them. Must have a bowl for the table.

We washed the meal down with a Grenache which complimented the meal well.

Service gets a big tick. Very proactive and the knowledge of the menu was impressive for such a new venue.

Looking forward to returning.

Order:
- Wood grill calamari
- Sirloin on the bone (350g)
- Premium tenderloin (220g)
- Hand cut chips
- Pusole 16 cannonau di Sardegna (Grenache)

Sunday 31 December 2017 at 9pm.
An excellent new addition to the Prahran area.
From a fantastic decor and fitout this is an exceptional restaurant.
The food and wine 🍷 on offer are devine.
We opted for the calamari entree to share - exquisite flavours.
For mains we went with the Pork belly and the David Blackmore Dry Aged Wagyu with sides of hand cut chips, onion rings and coleslaw.
All were tasty but the Onion Rings deserves a special mention 😋
😊🙏🏻👌🏻👍🏻👏🏻

Given the last few ventures in this building have failed, I do hope that this does well long term. The decor is done perfectly and the food is overall quite nice.
By way of constructive criticism, I would however suggest a change in porterhouse steak. Although it was good when it was tender, when it was bad, it was really bad (tough).
Putting that aside, I think this is a great new addition to the area and a must try!

Decided to visit after walking past this new joint on my way home from work - it did not disappoint.

Staff were very friendly & courteous, and food (I ordered Porterhouse Steak) was served in good time and tasted amazing.
We were a party of 4, and each ordered a steak and shared a couple of side dishes (veggies) between us - we found that this was an adequate amount of food.

My only regret is not taking a photo of the food before I ate it so I would have been able to share it here.

5/5, will be visiting again.
