Review Reverie Cafe & Dessert - Prahran

Brandon C
tldr: Basically waited for 15-20 minutes to takeaway my barely toasted Ham and Cheese Croissant (see attached). Not only did the order came out half cold, I waited for my takeaway as if I was dining in. Icing on the cake, I am late for my appointment and was handed the croissant unapologetically. Great service girls (to the lady who apologized while you were making coffee, it wasn't your fault, your staffs around you should've checked for takeaway order + chef can't toast a croissant šŸ˜‚).

Menu seems limited at first. But quality is good. Had the sausage and beans with toast and chips. Taste on point. Plus you can get dessert from their counter for take home dessert.

Honestly, I didn't know what to expect coming to this cafƩ, lo and behold I now hold high expectations every time I go for a coffee and croissant. The best croissants in Prahran, without question. So airy, and they are the cheapest around at $4.50, which is nuts in comparison to the other cafes' surrounding them who charge in excess of $6. Maria makes an amazing latte and highly regard her coffee. But don't get me started on the other sweets and pastries they have available because I'll be here all day raving about them, you'll need to try them for yourselves.

Reverie is our local coffee shop just underneath our office. Absolutely love this place. Coffee is absolutely fantastic. Service is great too and whilst I have not tried the food it looks and smells delicious. Many thanks keep it up

Due to covid, our breakfast place in StKilda, was not open, so we travelled to Prahran, to a Cafe we had lunch at a few times (always good). It was open, suffering from covid like so many. The breakfast was delicious. The service friendly. The coffee rich of flavour. The owner a fabulous man putting his heart into his cooking. The pastries mouth watering. I give them 6 stars out of 5. Give them a try.

This place is an absolute treat. I have been wanting to properly sit and eat at Reverie for a while as I used to follow the chef Pierrick Boyer on instagram for a number of years. The staff are incredibly warm, friendly and hospitable and it is a joy to receive their service every time. The cakes are nothing short of delectable. A long-time favourite is the chocolate hazelnut cake with the mango puree layer - absolutely unique flavour. The lived up to the standard of cake too. We ordered french toast with a fried egg on top and finished off the meal with an almond croissant and lemon meringue tart. It was indulgence but honestly worth it. If you are looking for an exquisite french patisserie experience, look no further than Reverie

Serves a great decaf long black with some nice pasties and desserts. Hidden away and nice to take a piece of cake and sit in the Park right next to Reverie.

Amazing food highly recommend, well worth the drive from Frankston, will come again!!

Pierrick has done it again! What a beautiful, elegant and spacious brunch cafe with his incredible desserts. Iā€™m so glad to see the lemon tarts again, the new Charlotte Tiffany tastes as good as it looks stunning. This is a place to have more than just a coffee. The Shroom is by far my favorite from his savoury menu although my friends canā€™t get over the eggs Benedict! Keep it up chef, canā€™t wait to be back!

Amazing food, delicious pastries and cakes! What more could one want! Highly recommend, you will truely be delighted. Decor and set out of this patisserie is second to none. Great place to take a group of friends or family or for a scrumptious breakfast lunch or tea break.

When it comes to the highest level in world class patisserie and exquisite hand crafted desserts, Pierrick Boyer is at the very top of the list. An epicurean indulgence like no other! A visit to Pierrick Boyer is an absolute MUST DO when visiting Melbourne! My first destination as soon as I land in Melbourne. A 5 star experience from a 5 star chef whom I'm very lucky to also have as a personal friend. Highly recommended šŸŒŸšŸŒŸšŸŒŸšŸŒŸšŸŒŸ

This was the first weekend Pierrick's cafe patisserie was open to the public. It was full of people and the service was fantastic. I ordered the rhubarb Hotcakes which were listed on the menu as requiring at least 15mins. They arrived in around 10 minutes and were delicious - probably the best hotcakes I have ever eaten. A group of 25 people arrived while we were there and they were seated and served with a minimum of fuss. It was great to see this new venue buzzing and everyone enjoying themselves. If you get a chance make sure you visit this new jewel in Melbourne's foodie crown.

My favourite Friday morning treat. Love the lemon tart, ginger tea and eggs made just the way I like. Friendly staff. Just a short stroll from Prahran Station.

We had our first family brunch Pierrick and it was amazingly deliciously good.I ordered the Soft Shell Chilli Crab Scrambled Egg, was so delicious.And to mention the selection of cakes were to die for. Would definitely go again. I have to try the rest.Thank you Pierrick for the warm welcome and excellent customer service.

Absolute perfection thanks to the amazing Pierrick Boyer. The best pain au chocolat croissant with hazelnuts that I have ever tasted! šŸ’‹ā¤ļøšŸ’‹

Great cafe great spot and still the best Lemon Tart in this country!! Will be back for sure

Had brunch here today with friends and amongst other (amazing) things we ordered, I also got the coconut white hot chocolate. It was So Damn Good!! Its ruined me off any other hot drinks now - will be taking my kids back this weekend for another.

Placed a takeaway order and I couldnā€™t have been happier with it! I ordered the petit fours (which I assume is different from time to time) and got to taste 9 amazing desserts. The ones that really stuck with me are the macarons, lemon tart & hazelnut soft and crunchy! If you want to try a range of Reverieā€™s cakes without having to finish whole cakes or single serve slices, this is the way to go.

I also got the almond croissant and Iā€™m officially hooked! I love almond croissants and theirs are so good. Theyā€™re not overwhelming and are perfectly balanced, and the almond frangipane is absolutely delicious.

Reverie was a beautifully modern cafe serving brunch/Modern Australian meals, coffee and cakes. We had the Wagyu cheeseburger and the crispy egg and bacon, as well as coffee and the popular Charlotte Tiffany cake. I wouldnā€™t recommend the coffee as I found it very bitter and not smooth. The savoury meals were pretty good; the crispy egg was quite unique and the burger was pretty juicy. The cake was the best part; decadent yet light and fruity.

Lovely cafe near Prahran Station. Ham and Cheese Omelette and Wagyu Burger were delicious and great value for money. Even got free pastries as we went bear closing time!

Today Reverie Cafe played host to the charity event ā€œCooking For Australiaā€ where owner Pierrick Boyer along with three other well known chefs created unique canapĆ© dishes with donated ingredients to provide urgent funding to fire relief charities. The standard of food was exceptional as was the generousity of serving staff and chefs for donating their time to such a good cause. Much of the food we tried wasnā€™t from the menu but Pierricks contribution to the canapĆ©s came in the form of decadent almond chocolate cake, lemon meringue, berry brownies and hazelnut soft and crunch ( the texture of this last one was something else indeed). A name change to this venue from our last review but still the same quality food and a wonderful atmosphere.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Previous Review
Today we dined on a bloggers table at the recently opened Pierrick Boyer Cafe Patisserie. This cafe is light and bright with soft tones, green plants which was a lovely cheerful welcome on a wet and wintery day.
We were lucky to be joined by Pierrick himself, who talked us through his journey so far and decision to leave Le petite gateaux, where he was head chef, and start his own cafe/patisserie.
As a table we shared a range of brunch items including Eggs Benedict/ Florentine, chill crab scramble, croque madam, shrooms, ricotta hotcakes and sides of hash browns and ham croquettes.
The Hash Browns with a super crunchy coating, yet thick soft salty potato filling, I can describe these in one word, incredible. These are a must try side addition to any order.
We had Eggs Florentine with Kale and also the Eggs Benedict on a ham hock, both dishes had hollandaise sauce that was OMG amazing and absolutely authentic. I think this will be the only way I eat kale from here on in. (Loaded in hollandaise!). The ham hock meat in the Benedict was generous and tender but most importantly, flavoursome.
I donā€™t normally choose Shrooms but these were an exceptionally flavorsome mushrooms on toast. These shrooms were cleverly layered over the top of some sticky onion jam, a real winning combination.
The chilli soft shell Crab scramble had a fab hit of fresh chilli, for me it was the perfect amount, not enough to destroy your taste buds, but a substantial kick start for brunch.
We also tasted the Croque madam, with a great bechamel cheese and ham combo topped with a fried egg. The fried sourdough is a crunchy and savory hit.
Last but definitely not least, The ricotta hot cakes baked with rhubarb, they were not too sweet, the sprinkled nuts and seeds gave a great crunch and lightened up these hot cakes. I am very biased over anything containing rhubarb but certainly recommend you try this dish.
We finished off our meal with a generous selection of patisserie cakes which were decadent in so many ways. These were all made in house and with much care.
My favourites included the Charlotte Fraise, and the Charlotte Tiffany, layered dessert with a sponge with a delicate chocolate mousse was the most delicious combination of either strawberry or blueberry in the Tiffany blur version.
I also loved the Tiramisu tart which had subtle coffee flavour in a rich chocolate filling. This was encased in the most delicate pastry shell, I loved the short crumb and lovely cream on top.
Pierrick Boyer Cafe/ Patisserie run cooking classes for both adults and kids, plus they will soon be bringing in a range of delicious gelato flavours which I canā€™t wait to come back and try very soon.
Thanks so very much for having us both in.
Always friendly, fresh and a beautiful setting for a coffee or full meal. Perfect Melbourne location! I love the other venues too (Ella and Doncaster) for a mix of vibes, but always the same excellent standard of food and coffee!
Weā€™ve been here a few times and without fail each time the service has been quick, friendly and without issue. The food is delicious and weā€™ll priced, and the coffee is good too. Itā€™s also rarely overcrowded so youā€™re likely to find a table quickly. Really canā€™t say anything bad about it, such an easy and good weekend brunch spot!
4.5 ā
Thumbs up! Beautiful and spacious cafe, smooth and creamy latte, absolutely gorgeous cake and great service. Nothing not to love from here.
I recommend my best duo, a mug of Latte and Charlotte Tiffany. Yuuum!
Gastrology
Reverie Cafe & Desserts by renowned French pastry chef Pierrick Boyer impresses with its range of pastries and sweet treats but itā€™s not all about dessert here.
The menu boasts a solid selection of brunch favourites with plenty of vegetarian and vegan dishes to choose from. We loved both of the savoury dishes we sampled. The dish of miso cauliflower was an umami-laden amalgamation of baked cauliflower, brown and black rice, edamame, cucumber, furikake and miso dressing. The Mushroom Lovers was similarly delicious. Think mixed mushrooms, kale, whipped tofu, sorrel pesto and almond dukkah served atop crusty toast. Just yum!
Amazing decor. Iā€™m a savory lover and the crispy egg was amazing. Of course Pierrickā€™s cakes are to die for.
After reading so many positive reviews and hearing so many good things about Pierrick Boyer, I finally decided to come down here and give it a try.
When it comes to dessert, I have always thought that if it doesn't even look good then it usually won't taste good. If a pastry chef didn't even bother to make an effort to make his desserts look nice, then how good can those desserts be?
I am no expert in dessert or pastry, but from my amateur eyes, I can see:
1) the puree? on top of the passionfruit and berry brownie cakes are sloppy - both in shape and texture. You can even see there is liquid dripping down from it....
2) visible big hole (air bubble?) on the chocolate ganache (passionfruit brownie)
3) visible air bubble in the chocolate mousse indicating the mousse won't be very smooth (berry brownie)
4) visible air bubble and cracked cream shape (Hazelnut cake)
Regardless of those obvious sighs, I still decided to get the Berry Brownie and a croissant as this was a store ran by a reputable chef and have some good reviews and I didn't want to be biased by my amateur eyes (turns out that I should).
Berry Brownie - The cake could barely hold itself together, mainly because the pink very-sugary-but-not-berry-at-all puree between the mousse and brownie was very sloppy and liquid-like. The cake almost fell apart into mousse and brownie when I tried to cut through it (yes I held it with my hand so I can take a picture). The whole cake was just like a not very well made jigsaw puzzle that its pieces just don't assemble nicely. Taste wise, it was a bit boring and not very well balanced either. Average brownie taste with a sugary berry taste. Chocolate and brownie taste was too strong (or I should say that the berry taste wasn't strong enough) that the berry taste got overpowered by the chocolate taste.Ā
Croissant - Smaller in size compared to usual croissants. Very buttery/oily but soggy texture. Didn't taste very clean and my mouth felt sticky afterwards.Ā
To me, these cakes showed no artistic sense in taste, texture or presentation. The Berry Brownie failed in every possible way. $9.5 for a cake like this is simply overpriced. Honestly, I don't think I'd want to pay for it at all because it's just a waste to my stomach room and I'd much prefer to save it for something else.
2 stars are for the service I received. The lady took my order was super nice and friendly. Very attentive and thoughtful throughout!
Incredible pastries, incredible venue and incredible service... I loved every moment spent at this beautiful cafe and patisserie. In a back street of Prahran is this stunning cafe...decorated in pretty pastel tones with gorgeous furniture, lighting and atmosphere. The decor really is a dream. But it doesn't end there.
Pastries and cakes created by master patissier Pierrick Boyer are a treat for the eyes. Rows of gorgeous pastry creations are so tempting, that you soon forget about calories, and just can't wait to indulge. The cakes and eclairs are stunning, but on this occasion I had a hazelnut croissant which was fantastic, and something a little different to the usual almond croissant. So flaky with a delicious frangipane and perfect nutty topping. Along with the fab coffee, it was a real treat.
The service is top notch, and it's a great destination for a sneaky, indulgent snack; something a little more substantial, or some pastries or chocolates to take home. The fact that there are now three locations across Melbourne suggests that the popularity of these pastries is contagious!!
Chronicles Of Nardia
Reverie Cafe & Dessert is located on Izett Street in Prahran. Owned by Chef Pierrick Boyer of Le Petit Gateaux fame, this cafe is what dessert dreams are made of. Offering a range of incredible cakes, pastries & coffee as well as a brunch/lunch menu, Reverie has a gorgeous modern fitout & I must admit I am a regular customer although Iā€™m yet to try the brunch menu as my eyes gravitate towards the cakes.
The passion brownie & berry brownie are favourites of mine, deliciously decadent & the fanciest brownies Iā€™ve ever seen. All the cakes are stunning & I will eventually try all of them as I tend to take one to go when leaving. All the tiny details even in the gorgeous embossed take away boxes, so much class & elegance.
The parking around Prahran due to construction has affected foot traffic but that is yet to deter me & roadworks should be completed soon which will make Reverie an even busier patisserie.
Reverie has also opened outlets in Westfield Doncaster & the CBD so plenty more options to access these impressive desserts & meet the lovely team.
I hope this place does well - because it deserves to! The problem is the location - with the current building of the parklands where he car park used to be, it's reduced foot traffic significantly and parking options are limited. That is my only negative about this place because the pastries and coffees are so good - especially when it's led by Chef Pierrick Boyer who left Le Petit Gateuax to set up his own patisserie and cafe. Similar to LPG, it's not the 'obvious' choice, but it's the choice you're happy with once you've made it.Ā Dude can croissant for days and the gateauxs are truly special.Ā
I'll give this five stars, as the external reasons for why this place isn't doing better (Stonnington City Council) should not deter people from visiting this place.
Got the eggs bene with pickled carrots and kale and the famous passion fruit brownie. The eggs bene was very good, the balance of flavours worked well and is different to other eggs bene out there. The passion fruit brownie was the highlight, full of flavour and different textures I could not fault it.
Have always wanted to visit Pierrick's cafe, I've been a fan of his cakes for a decade now! His cafe definitely did not disappoint.
Must admit, it's hard to get parking in the area so we had to park in the paid Woolies car park next door but it was worth it!
Everything we had was delicious and the cafe is beautifully presented and spacious.
Can't wait to go back and try more food and cakes!
Platecreative
So lucky to have been invited to have brunch with Pierrick Boyer on his birthday last year at his new cafe in PrahanšŸŽ‚. It was a culinary experience like no other as we toured his impressive kitchen šŸ½and saw where his desserts šŸ°and beautiful dishes are made. Pierrick Boyer puts in a lot of passion and love into his desserts and food. We hope the cafe will be revived soon!
Pierrick Boyer is one of my favourite pastry chefs of all-time, and I have been an avid fan of his cakes for ages! Although I have yet to visit his new cafe in Prahran, I was able to sample a selection of his sweet creations at his session of Grub Sweet Set. Although I was looking forward to meeting him, unfortunately he wasnā€™t able to be there on the day. Nonetheless, the desserts were absolutely fabulous!
The sweet platter consisted of 4 small components - Tart Kiss, Black Forest, Hazelnut Soft & Crunchy, and a Macaron. The Tart Kiss (my favourite) was a cute little apricot meringue tart - the base was nice and crumbly, meringue was so fluffy and airy, and the curd was light and not too sweet. The Black Forest was delightful - the cherries were soaked in alcohol and you could definitely taste it through the cake. The Hazelnut Soft & Crunchy (my second favourite) had the most amazing contrast in textures, from the crunch of the feuilletine and hazelnut to the soft and creaminess from the chocolate. We finished with the most generously sized macaron which was very sweet, crispy on the outside and chewy on the inside.
Overall, I had a delightful experience at the Sweet Set. Pierrick Boyer has never failed to impress me with his stunning desserts, and I look forward to trying more of his creations in the future!
Nice space? Yes.
Huge selection of quality baked goods and dessert? Yes
A good food menu for breakfast, brunch and lunch? Yes. Standard.
Hot drinks menu? Yes. Although the coffee wasnā€™t great.
Worth a visit? Yes. Just grab your coffee elsewhere beforehand.
Split The Bill
Some of the best pastries and cakes in Melbourne. We came here with friends a fww weeks ago, met Pierrick and he was nice enough to take us at the back where we saw his chefs decorate the cakes. A great dinning experience. We really hope Pierrick reopens soon.
Pierrick Boyer is one of my favourite places to go. With a light and bright interior it's the perfect place to start your day. Just make sure to treat yourself to a cake with your meal.
The Food Vogue By Le Seynt
I discovered this place through a friend as I tagged along with her to Pierrick Boyerā€™s cooking class. He showed us how to make Hazelnut slice and the Le Petit Gateau. It was a bit disappointing that he didnā€™t let us taste test any of his inventions. I ended up purchasing the Individual Salted Caramel Choux Bun. The balance between the salt and the caramel was perfect.
Pierrick Boyer Cafe Patisserie is a great place for brunch & cake with family & friends. They take bookings, yay! The restaurant is quite spacious & clean. Service was friendly & helpful. I had the ricotta hot cakes & eggs Florentine. The ricotta cakes were cooked to perfection, hot & fluffy.. not dry & hard. I loved how it came out hot & tasted not too sweet. The serving was also generous. Have to say itā€™s one of the best ricotta hot cakes Iā€™ve had. The eggs Florentine was delicious, loved the added kale on the dish. We finished our meal with their famous passionfruit brownie cake.. yum. Highly recommend coming here.
Avolette
Bright and spacious cafe in Prahran, with both a delectable brunch menu and a delightful cabinet of fine patisserie on offer. As the cafe market is quite saturated in the Chapel street precinct, it was refreshing to see Pierrick Boyer Cafe's beautiful sweet treats, merchandise and cooking classes as a point of difference.
Service was friendly although a little slow as the staff had to attend to cafe patrons as well as store customers and class participants.
The Dark Soy, Hazelnut and Praline Mocha was a bit too intense on the sweet side.
I tried the soft shell crab scram, and it was pretty tasty. But the real star is the "hash" that you can order as a side. Trust me - get one!
It would have been rude to not try a dessert while I was here so I chose the special "F off Winter" cake, which incorporates sponge, coconut white choc mousse, mango cremeux and fresh pineapple compote. The texture of the cake was a bit gelatinous rather than creamy, but it was still nice. I'd like to see the cakes venture out into more creative flavours in addition to the traditional chocolate/strawberry fare.
The Food Baby Maker
Nice cafe, open space with lots lighting and the food was really good. The baked eggs were not what I had hoped as it was a tad on the salty side. The cake and coffee were delicious but on the dearer end of the scale (especially the cake which would be amazing if it was a tad bigger). Overall good brunch venue.
FoodforThought
This new boutique cafe is spacious and offers a wide array of dishes, not forgetting their dainty-looking desserts and pastries. Their cappuccino comes with a special touch of dark chocolate and I enjoyed their signature Charlotte Tiffany although it would have been more delicious with some texture. Service was friendly and professional.
Ravvy
Terrible service and unaware pretentious staff. Constantly leaving frustrated.
Ive made around 7-8 visits to this patisserie for their one and only item i actually enjoy: their apple turnovers. These apple pastries are amazing and worth the trip. The problem is every other part of the experience of visiting here is a pain.
The staff constantly lost, not aware of what they even have to sell, its a real struggle at times to deal with.
The pastries here are outstanding and imo, the only thing worth making the trip. The cakes are your standard, well made, structured and visually beautiful with poorly balanced flavours leaving you in regret for eating with your eyes once you taste them. After trying one of each of their range, I have no desire to try one again.
If you're after high quality pastries, this place does them very well.
Anything else, find another cafe.
Pierrick Boyer is without a doubt one of the all time great Pastry Chefs. He learnt his craft from some of the very best.
Melbourne are lucky to have him. Pierrickā€™s desserts are innovative, beautiful works of art, & delicious.
On top that he is also a gentleman. Do yourself a favor and pop into the cafe and treat yourself.
Angela
Beautiful shop with great seating, very friendly staff I had the best croissant with a cappuccino (chocolate atop). Cakes are out of this world. Met Pierrick - what a wonderful and talented pastry chef. We are so lucky to have him here in this country. Definitely will come back. Nothing to fault.
4.5 Headed up by recent winner of Pastry Chef of the Year, Pierrick Boyer, his newly opened namesake cafe in Prahran is showcasing his signature cakes and pastries alongside some more substantial items on their brunch menu...
Good Food Good Mood
I was thrilled to be invited to Pierrick Boyer cafe. The namesake genius recently won pastry chef of the year and Iā€™ve been a long term fan of his work at Le Petit Gateau. This is a really cool space and the huge kitchen also hosts a range of cooking classes for adults and children alike.
We kicked off with a round of perfect pastries, my favourite of which were the apple turnover, the soaked raisin and the triple chocolate brioche. There was a hugely impressive variety here, just about everything you could hope to see in a Parisian bakery was available in all its flaky goodness. Paired with the white choc coconut hot chocolate- I was in heaven.
For breakfast I enjoyed the ricotta hot cake. This was darker in appearance then the usual hotcake on the brunch scene but was very enjoyable and a great one for winter with the addition of all the warm berries. The seeds gave it a textural crunch that really elevated it too. The wagyu burger was the other standout for me with its house made brioche bun. I loved the miso mayo on this one too.
We finished with a selection of delectable cakes. I immediately gravitated to the lemon tart. This was a very sour rendition so if youā€™re after something sweet my pick would be the Charlotte Tiffany. This dessert is named for Pierrickā€™s daughter and is a decadent delight. Filled with airy chocolate mousse it had the perfect texture and a delicious flavour. Charlotte Fraise is similar in appearance except in a pale pink rather the Tiffany blue. Someone at the table commented it tasted like strawberry ice cream and itā€™s an apt description. They are also available in larger sizes for celebrations and events
> Smashed avocado with toasted sourdough, grilled grapefruit, dukkah, Persian feta, balsamic reduction and rosemary salt <
A chunky spiced avo dish that you cannot miss out on. Hidden in the backstreets of Prahran, Pierrick Boyer is a dessert cafe with some amazing brunch food and desserts. With everything made on site, you cannot miss out on this delicious feast. The flavours in this meal were quite strong and the entire meal was quite filling. Do not let the construction prevent you from visiting, this place is a must!
> Eggs benedict with 2 free range poached eggs on multigrain toast with gruyere cheese ham hock and smoked hollandaise <
This dish really blew me away. The ham hock was so smoky and really rich in flavour. The hollandaise complemented this amazingly because it was sweet and smoky, which blended the flavours together. I demolished the entire meal so that really says something! If youā€™re down for one of the best eggs benedictā€™s you have tried, head down here and see what Iā€™m talking about!
> Ricotta Hotcakes with seasonal fruit, mixed nuts, spiced syrup and chai cream <
These hotcakes, wow, they were a stand out to me. The centre was very moist and gooey and the outside was fluffy and a little crispy. The flavours were very strong and the spiced syrup was sweet and soaked into the hotcake to create that moist texture. Obviously this hotcake is going to be delicious because they specialise in desserts. Even if you donā€™t feel like such a heavy meal, check out some of their smaller creations.
Who likes pastry? How about breakfast? Or dessert? Your prayers have been answered with Pierrick Boyerā€™s new cafĆ© in Prahran just off Chapel Street. The renowned pastry chef has opened a gorgeous new spot offering all his classics plus a spread of breakfast choices. Thanks to the lovely Roslyn from Glamorazzi, we were treated to a feast for a Sunday breakfast. It was even Pierrickā€™s birthday, which made us all feel even more special! To start, we had some incredible pastries, made with French butter ā€“ my absolute standout was the hazelnut chocolate croissant. Topped with whole roast hazelnuts, it was a delight of texture and flavour. Itā€™s very lucky for my waistline that these guys arenā€™t closer to my house!
Ordered a Charlotte Tiffany cake for a birthday. Received impeccable service. I made contact over the phone and via email before making a purchase online for pick up from the store. The cafe is extremely responsive no matter which method of communication you use. The staff who served me briefly in store were very professional.
The cake itself was beautiful. I really wish my phone camera wasn't so crappy because the photo does not do it justice. The cake had a lovely finish and lots of layers of contrasting flavours and textures inside. Wasn't overly sweet or heavy which meant I could indulge in 2 slices (woo!).
10/10 would recommend.
Have eaten here once and have had cakes multiple times. Cannot fault Pierrick Boyer Cafe Patisserie at all. The offering here is versatile and has something for everybody of all tastes and intolerances. Favourite thing from here unfortunately didn't make it to the camera roll, but you can't come here without trying the Choux Caramel Buerre Sale šŸ¤¤
Wow, this is one cafe you need to visit. With the usual brekkie dishes oozing with flavour, taking it back to simple dishes done well. But make sure you save room for dessert as the cakes are ah-mazing!
Wendy Tseng
Loved my experience here today! The staff were attentive, the pastries and cakes the best as expected, and even the savoury food was delish- my fav being the Croque Monsieur! šŸ¤— Pierrick opening his own sit-down cafe is the best thing ever! šŸ˜
My dad took me here for lunch today. i had the breakfast burger which was DELICIOUS. my Dad had the Wagyu Burger that really looked yummo too. Pierrick had lunch with us he is so nice.
I also had a yummy hazelnut hot chocolate and then tried the white hot chocolate with coconut. so good! we bought a Lemon Tart and Passionfruit Gateau and a Tiffany Cake to take away. everyone is so nice and Pierrick doesn't hide in the kitchen he comes out to say hello to people all the time which i think is really awesome and his staff are really nice.Ā
Also his packaging and cake boxes are so pretty :)Ā
Merci Beacoup
3.5 of 5
Both the cake and tea pot I had were excellent, and everything I saw looked yummy and caught my eye. The place is lovely, airy, comfy and spacious, and perfect to catch-ups. My main complaint about the place is not the taste or the service, it is the tiny size of the cakes and the price you pay for them. If I pay 9 bucks for a tiny cake, I expect it to be one of the bests in Melbourne, creative, good sized and something perhaps a level up from what I got. Don't take me wrong, what I had was lovely, but at those prices I find difficult to return.
TheWhiteSherpa
Good presentation, ok-ish service but did not meet the high expectations. Had a cappuccino, a chocolate, a toast with ham and tomatoes and one of the more substantial breakfast. Nothing was off but again it was pretty sterile, no vibe, no buzzing atmosphere, certainly closer to a LuxBite than a typical South Yarra hot spot for brunch.
Laura Rancie
What a wonderful new addition to Prahran!
Had a great experience here for brunch today. The staff are really nice and friendly. We got the Shroom stack, the avo smash, chips for the table, and our friends got the eggs benny and a burger. The food was really quick to arrive (bonus) but tasted so fresh and delicious. The highlight for us was our drinks - great coffee and i very highly recommend the coconut white hot chocolate. I honestly cannot wait to go back this weekend.
Had very high expectation... but the cakes are way too overpriced for what it is and does not taste anything special. The tiramisu tart I got is tiny and tasteless to be honest...
DO: Any of the cakes on offer. My particular favourite was the apple tart, the hazlenut crunch and the Marie Antoinette coloured one.
DON'T: Think that this is a dessert place. Its a cafe too and has an outstanding savoury menu and well above average coffee
TIP: Say hi to Pierrick. He's a champion. Book a cooking class to for yourself or as a gift for someone else.
The service was fine, coffee was poor, burnt and too milky. The chili scrambled lacked taste.
Cakes looks ok but nothing I havenā€™t seen before.
Fitout is good, thatā€™s the best part.
Overall, overpriced and far better options else were.
Giving this place a one is truly being generous in my eyes.
You walk in and the space is lovely, subtle millennial pink hues and plants galore. But really everything after is a severe let down.
My waitress was abosultely beyond lovely, no fault there.
Ordered the chilli scrambled eggs and a soy latte.
Latte arrived - half the glass full of very disgusting looking foam, didn't realise I asked for a soy foam honestly. The coffee was burnt, and an awful shade of grey brown. It had clumps of soy milk floating throughout it. I asked for another one to be made because I could not drink that. Second one arrived more amount of foam than the first - I didn't even bother trying it. The waitress could tell I wasn't going to drink it, she took it away and I told her not to bother with another. But a regular milk latte arrived - which was actually good. Clearly staff need a little extra training, which isn't a big deal, just train them.
The chilli scrambled eggs were not chilli at all, however I'm sure you could ask for fresh chilli, as mine had three slices. Everyone's tolerance of chilli is different, which is understandable.
The let down here is that two slices of sourdough are stacked on top of each other with scrambled eggs ontop of one slice.. um.. why not just serve the dish with one slice then if you're not going to give enough eggs for two?
The eggs lacked flavour, the crab meat was a disgusting brown colour, and the dukkah added nothing to the dish. The dukkah could have really helped lift the dish but you cannot taste anything, it's just black specks on your eggs.
Went to pay and was charged $28 for the meal, I asked the counter staff@ why.. she said the chilli scrambled eggs were $20.40 and the latte $4.50.. so why $28? She then said there's a weekend surcharge.. you don't get told about this at all, not even when paying. I had to ask why I was being charged extra.. I then told the staff member that she needs to let customers know when paying.. no comment from her.
Why is the venue charging a surcharge on a non-public holiday day? If you can't afford to pay your staff, don't open a venue.. don't make the customer foot a surcharge. Beyond ridiculous
Definitely will not be returning and will be telling others to avoid as well.
The food is subpar you can throw a rock and hit a better cafe/restaurant randomly in the vicinity. I thought the salvation were going to be the desserts. I have been following his insta account and craved his desserts since before he opened the store, bit of a letdown. The desserts are very basic/bland and thereā€™s nothing out of the ordinary or impressive about them.
Pierrick has done it again! What a beautiful, elegant and spacious #brunch cafe with his incredible #desserts. Iā€™m so glad to see the lemon tarts again, the new Charlotte Tiffany tastes as good as it looks stunning. This is a place to have more than just a #coffee. The Shroom is by far my favorite from his savoury menu although my friends canā€™t get over the eggs Benedict! Keep it up chef, canā€™t wait to be back!
Absolutley Amazing. Kids loved the Hot Chocolates and the wife and
i had the best pastries we have had in along time. Looking forward to taking a cake or few cakes home next time!
It's like going on an adventure whenever we come to this place, you don't know what to expect and it never disappoints.
The cakes were amazing! Our personal favourites so far are the Charlotte Tiffany and the pink strawberry fraise. My daughter is absolutely in love with the Lemon Tart (that's what she asked every single time).
With the breakfast menu, so far we've tried the Croque Madame and the Wagyu Beef burger. They were all spot on! (now thinking about it makes me hungry again).
Coffees were ok though we prefer a bit more kick but hey we're caffeine addicts. But I absolutely love the hot white chocolate with coconut milk.
Another thing to look forward to satisfy the palate during the weekend.
Very positive initial impression - the wife and I went with a few of her friends for a quick coffee and a small bite to eat. For the parents out there, the layout is very open and easily negotiated with prams, while there is a baby change table available... magic! I sadly only ordered a mocha, but would return based on that nutty chocolatey taste alone, while the wife and her friends provided glowing feedback on their beverages and food. The prices are reasonable, the service was friendly and reasonable prompt and Pierrick himself greeted us as we were sorting our bill out to chat about our kids and ask about our visit. A new must visit location for our small family.
This place blew me away! The most amazing desserts I have ever tasted and great breaky. Friendly staff and a cool layout. Canā€™t wait to go back and try some more of the tasty desserts!
Pierrick Boyer is a very familiar name on the Melbourne, and international, patisserie scene. I have been a fan for a long time so when I heard that he was opening up, I had to get down there. His new patisserie cafe is everything youā€™d expect - perfection. Light, airy, chic and with a display case full of the most delicious looking creations and pastry youā€™ve ever seen, youā€™re in heaven. While I have not tried the food menu, Iā€™d expect this to be amazing as well.
I came here to try out the cakes. I loved the hazelnut soft and crunchy - taste just like eating a fererro rocher cake. The Black Forest cake was nice and I really enjoyed the baked flan. I wasnā€™t the biggest fan of the raspberry and coconut cheesecake - tasted a bit too organic for me
What a great place. Excellent pastries and cakes as always produced by Pierrick and his team. The breakfast menu is innovative and quality of the food fantastic. We've already been twice and will be returning many more times for sure.
Amazing! We made the journey down to PBā€™s this morning not knowing what to expect. I ordered the ā€˜Save the shroom for dessertā€™ such a delicious twist on mushies on toast. The coffee was perfect. We even ordered a coffee to go after our meal with dessert. The desserts were incredible, not heavy and rich just the perfect balance. Weā€™ll definitely make the drive from the north again. Well worth it!!
Wow! What an incredible new cafe in Prahran. I was here yesterday and bought a chocolate cake for my little ones birthday and it was the best cake weā€™ve had; EVER.
The design of the cafe is just gorgeous. The colours, wood and display is perfect.
Iā€™ll be back to try some of the menu items as they all look amazing on Pierrickā€™s Instagram page too!
Ps I was so eager to eat the cake I took the photo too late
