THIS is hands down the most authentic vietnamese you're going to get on the Northside. The flavours kick, and they even make their own pork terrine that they include as a side to dishes. Downside, the service – it's really not that hard to smile, but hey.. at the end of the day it's not the service you're eating.
This is definitely my favourite Preston restaurant. The staff are great and the pork and century egg congee is absolutely delicious!! I love their iced coffee too. Everything I've eaten here has been amazing. Very clean restaurant 👌
My Tho is smaller than its counter parts across High St, meaning it's always busy but worth the wait. We ordered 2 bowls of Bun Bo Hue and it came out within 10 minutes during the lunch rush. I was very impressed. The portion size is generous, there was a lot of meat and the broth was perfectly spicy and not overly oily. I would go back to try the other dishes.
Such great food! I had the BBQ rockling and my husband the pork vermicelli. Friendly, quick service, tasty food, good prices and free tea and watermelon to finish. Will definitely be back.
I haven’t had wonton noodle soup for some time so I decided to visit this restaurant.
The service was absolutely charming from all the waitstaff and I was pretty impressed. The food was cooked to order and it was worth the wait.
My wonton noodle soup came with egg noodles but I ordered rice noodles instead. The wontons were plump and tasty. Perfect.
The broth had a good salty flavour w a hint of chicken stock to it.
The dish has some sliced pork which was nice for a change and the veggies were cooked well. The rice noodles were delicious and overall I was really impressed with this dish!
This place is definitely worth a visit if your in the area.
My Tho is one of the best Vietnamese restaurants in North side. It’s a small venue but it’s always bustling with customers. The food served is authentic Vietnamese cuisine that’s both delicious and great for value. Would highly recommend the Banh Canh Cua Tom (Crab and shrimp tapioca noodle soup) and the Bun Bo Hue. They didn’t have a drinks menu, but they do serve Vietnamese iced coffee. The staff are extremely nice too!
Been here many times and it is probably the best pho restaurant in Preston. I’ve tried other dishes such as: bun Rieu, com tam, rice vermicelli salad and each tasted authentic. It is my go-to restaurant for Vietnamese food in Preston
The most authentic Vietnamese we have had in Melbourne. The staff are fantastic, the flavours were fresh and on point and it’s also very reasonably priced. We wouldn’t go anywhere else. An easy decision to give five stars
My Tho is a very good Vietnamese restaurant in Preston. Very busy place with outdoor seating....my personal favourite to sit out front, have a nice meal and relax enjoying busy High St.
Food is fresh and tasty, extensive menu....I enjoyed pork chop with rice.
I also enjoy the Vietnamese ice coffees they serve, excellent with the current weather conditions. Recommend, but when busy can sometimes be a little wait, all good, food does the talking.
Cheers to all.
Highly recommend Banh Canh Cua Tom! Broth has deep flavour and tasty, decent amount of food, customer service is great. Will definitely return.
The best Vietnamese restaurant in northern suburb! My all times favorite! Friendly service, reasonable price, fresh ingredients, tasty food etc …
I didn't get a chance to try the pho, but their broken rice is one of the nicest I've had in town. Will definitely come back to try their other menus. A good Vietnamese restaurant in Preston.
I love this place, the owner and the staff here are all Vietnamese, and they are really nice, so friendly 😍 delicious food, cheap price compared to many other restaurants, good and fast service 😝 a small place but always crowded 👏🏻 i bring my friends here so many times and they are always dying to come back
Absolutely love the Banh Canh Cua Tom. We eat it once a week & it's perfect. Also love the pork chop rice set & cold vermicelli dishes in the summer months.
I ordered the rice vermicelli with grill pork and spring rolls, it tested sooooo good. it contains rice rolls, pork, sausages and lots of veg. You should not miss it!!!
I can't believe I haven't raved about this restaurant, and yet, I can't stop thinking about how this is also my new fave local Viet place. Vietnamese gumbo is sooooo good. Smaller menu with focus on specials and soups. Had already been several times, and recently, family members for my pa's birthday,. Everybody was happy with the food and everything came out quickly. Always fresh and never disappointing. See you for the next meal (:
Nice Pho and Egg Noodles. Good flavor in the Pho broth. Prices are very affordable. Good service. It helps that it is close to us. Convenient low cost meal when we need one.
Place is a bit small so sometimes it's already full when I get there so I end up somewhere else. But their food is very good, never have I ever eaten there and not get satisfied with the taste and serving size. The owner is also very friendly, always smiling and he would try to get to know his customers by striking a conversation even though he obviously is struggling the the language. Just hope there's more space and a better toilet.
BEST Vietnamese food in Preston!!
here twice a week, always satisfaction!
people should know this place.
that's all I want to say. whys this app want me to put down 140 characters???
Best Pho in Preston! My family and I eat at My Tho at least once a week. The staff are always very friendly (especially Tam who remembers our orders each time we come to eat—even our complex dietary requirements), the pho broth is delicious and well balanced (not too salty or oily as some pho broths are), the meat is tender and the veggies crisp and fresh. We also love the iced coffees which are as delicious black as they are with milk. Our favourite pho dishes are the rare beef with beef balls and rare beef with beef brisket. Yum!
Family feel, excellent customer service.
Food is the best you will get for Vietnamese food outside from my Mum’s cooking.
Highly recommend bun no hue!
Cheap, friendly, delicious.
LIT!: the beef sizzling was definitely the best dish we ordered. It was very flavourful and meat was medium rare. The crispy chicken is also very delicious and they use a specific baby chicken. The owner of the store was super friendly too!
NOT SO LIT: unfortunately the there was no tomato rice second time coming to this store. Also the bread for the beef sizzling was very soft, not as crispy as the first visit. But we still enjoyed the food!
My Tho is bright, warm and very welcoming. The staff will ensure this as soon as you step in.
The menus are simple with a good selection of dishes.
We ordered; corn soup with prawn, wonton soup, special beef pho, broken rice with the lot, and rice vermicelli with spring rolls and chicken.
The food was very flavoursome and delicious.
The pricing was very reasonable at $10-12 a dish.
Definitely returning.
Food was of amazing quality with authentic flavours. Owners are very friendly and wait staff were attentive. Would highly recommend to friends and will definitely return!
Discovered this place almost 2 years after moving into Preston. Not as big or buzzing as some of its neighbours, but more than makes up for it in quality. Have tried the pancake (pork and prawn from memory), salt & pepper squid and some of the noodle dishes. All packing heaps of flavour and freshness. Great find!
one of my favourite place in preston. Always welcome me with smile.
I like they serve soup when I order rice dish
Bun bo hue is really good as well
Found that this place is your quick authentic vietnamese deal. Staff are friendly and the business is home owned. Decent meal serving and quite delicious.
I've become a regular customer at My Tho. All their dishes are amazing. Pho is VERY flavourful. Rice paper rolls are not tacky, hard or dry - they're probably the best rice paper rolls I've ever had. Other noodle dishes are tasty. Still making my way around their menu but nothing has disappointed me except the one time I found hair on our rice paper rolls. Which is why I'm giving them a 4. They took care of it and I know it was an accident but it's still a little unsanitary. (Still doesn't stop me from ordering it though)
I am a regular customer of My Tho. Actually, my family are going today as well for Pho. The Vietnamese noodles here are so yummy. The pirtions are generous. They also have pickled onions and sliced cabbage & lettuce served together with the noodle soup. The service is fantastic, friendly staff as well. Thank you, My Tho. Betty.
Best Vietnamese restaurant in Melbourne! Fresh and best salt and pepper calamari and rice paper rolls. Highly recommend you wound be disappointed.
It would have to be my pick.of all the vietnamese restaurants in High St. Clean decor, tables weren't sticky from the dirty wet cloth and previous diners, we could have a conversation and hear each other.. food wise we had the special salt and pepper calamari legs. Yum and spicy. Mains were the nasi goreng and i had the grilled pork bun. Im sure that it had what looked like a homemade chinese sausage. Anyway what ever it was it was delicious... I'll be back! Apologies for the limited photos we ate all the calamari legs before i remembered to take a photo, presentation wise it was good.
Try the Viet Char Kwe Tiau. It is very complete in the mix of meat and vegetables and seafood too. The twist is that they serve it on a hot place. Nice touch. Service is friendly and prompt.
Decided to try a different viet restaurant in Preston this time and it was wonderful! Small lil place but very busy. You know its good when its busy! Very clean and service is efficient. All happy and smiley even though you can see they are really busy.
Got a table in the front which was unfortunately a bit sunny however after 10min wait the sun did shifted. We both ordered the special pho except i had a three colour drink and he had a coconut juice. The broth from the pho was delicious!! Could be a tad more intense but after adding all the sauces and lemon it was a delight! Plenty of meat. I wish they had a lil bit more tripes and beef balls though. A hood size bowl for $11, definately a good value meal.
STILL good value for money and tasty too.
Thank God that the former Pho Thanh Tuan is still doing good.
Still family owned business, different family, still neat, clean and tidy.
Soup broth is on the sweet side, but tasty nonetheless.
Highly welcoming, delicious food and great value for money. Highly recommend.
I've lived in Preston for two years and it's a shame I've only just found this place now. The new go to spot.
Friendly and attentive staff, local restaurant opened not long ago, glad to find another Vietnamese restaurant option on the list.
Tried their bun bo hue before too, the flavour was little light compared with those I had in the past, however the beef soup taste very nice.
This time we had Banh canh cuah tom, the crab and shrimp with tapioca noodle, thicken sauce, like the fried shallot and it would be more fragrant if use more coriander, don't really like the Chinese fried doughnut, I guess hard to find a good one in Melbourne so far.
I like the chilli oil sauce served on the table.
Mix spring roll, was alright, nothing too special to comment about.
Good value.
Awesome. I have to get takeaway as I can't eat in for work. The guys here custom my pho so it is spot on when I get back to work. Ate in today 10/10. Best customer service. Best pho smashes anything in Preston (and on Bridge st) Thanx guys!
The service here is efficient & friendly every time without fail. A small family run restaurant with that yummy home cooking menu! You cannot go past the Rare Beef Phò it is the best I have had in the area!
Haven't had a bad meal or bad service here yet and we are here at least once a week sometimes twice!
Really enjoyed the rice paper rolls and stir fry that I ordered here! Tea was included and the staff brought me a takeaway container because the meal was huge! Prices were great as well.
It was Excellent , we had the Vietnamese prawn and pork pancake, XO special fried rice, salt and pepper squid tentacles and Vietnamese ice milk coffee.
POSITIVE: in comparison to the rest of venues near by that offer Vietnamese cuisine, the hospitality was amazing, the owner could not do enough. And by far the most delicious Vietnamese food we have had in the area so far we shall return soon.
NEGATIVE: only downfall was maybe Vee thought the salt and pepper squid batter was a tad too oily . however it was nice for Jez.
This place is hands down my new favourite Vietnamese restaurant in Preston. The people who work there are super friendly and every meal I've had there has been delicious. They are BYO now too which is awesome. So glad this place has opened up!

Update: The only thing this place is lacking is some vegetarian options. The only vegetarian items are the springs rolls, samosas and a stir fry. It would be great if they had more vegetarian variations of classics such as pho so that we don't have to go across the road and put up with the crap service at Pho Hung.
Service is good! The Vietnamese grandpa doesn't say much but is friendly. The place is really busy from 5.30pm onwards but food comes out quick.
-1 ⭐ as the pork chop in the Com Tam Dac Biet $14.50 was rather tiny compared to other Vietnamese restaurants that serve com tam dac biet.
Crispy chicken served with pho $15 was so crispy but flavor was mild.
Would return!
Update 11 Jun22-
Avocado smoothie $7 and Banh Xeo with pork and shrimp $20.
Food wasn't as spectacular as three weeks ago but grandpa is still friendly as ever. The banh xeo was a bit flat tasting and soggy but I like the fact that they gave perilla leaves.
Avocado was thick and creamy with lots of Avocado taste.
Delicious, fresh food, quick friendly service and reasonably priced. Place was busy but food was quick to come out. Was a bit slow at the end when we wanted to pay but not a big deal.
I tried many vietnamese restaurant in Melbourne, this has to be on one of my favorite list. Their BBH (bun bo hue) is the bomb! Bomb of flavors in your mouth without damaging your wallet, definitely will come back again soon!
Can’t fault it. We bought from here on takeaway last night and we’re seriously impressed. The food was fresh, well made and very tasty. Every dish was good without exception. Rice paper rolls, salt and pepper squid, chicken coleslaw, fried rice and beef noodles. They were all really good. We’d order again anytime.
One of my new favourite restaurants on High street. I ordered the vegetarian char kway teow and banh xeo which were both so delicious and very generously sized. The staff are lovely and the service was prompt - I ordered for pickup and the food was ready in about 15 minutes.
I always enjoy my meal here. Never had a bad dish, the stock for the pho is amazing, and the Vietnamese pancake rocks too.
This has to be in the top ten informal Vietnamese restaurants in Melbourne. The Pho is top rate thanks to the master stock used. The salads are clean, refreshing and ample in size. A little spicy but well worth it. The aromas of the sizzling plates as they arrive on the tables excite the senses. Beautifully cooked and balanced with sweet, savoury and spicy flavours. Overall excellent value but be there early or you'll have to stand in be line
