Best Pizza in the area, and at a fantastic price!!!
Tuck shop style, too high prices. Peter's holds a commanding corner spot at the centre of Preston Market. Lots of times, eateries in prominent locations are better than you'd expect, because they live up to their setting. Then there are the ones like Peter's, that get by because of where they are, not what they serve. The food here is not awful; it's just like what you would have found at an all-rounder lunch counter in 1970s Australia. Already-cooked flake filets, chips, dim sims, pizza by the slice -- all drying under heat lamps. Peter's has a dozen tubs of gelato on offer, a deli section with meats and veg for fresh cut sandwiches... Lots of stuff! All of it average or below. Pricey for what it is, too. Pizza slices range from $2.70 for plain to $3.20 for anything with a topping. Each slice is a quarter of a pie, but they're not large 'zas, so I still don't think it's a good deal.
I stopped by on the way to work between brekky and arvo, so I wasn't tempted get a high-price slice. I went for a spanakopita square ($4.20) which had adequate flavour from the filling but soggy pastry. Not terrible, but not something you'd want to feed to a Greek. My chocolate milkshake ($4) was custom-made, but like most Aussie shakes, the emphasis was on the "milk." Thin city. I won't down-vote this place, because it is what it is, and it isn't claiming to be anything special. It achieves exactly what it set out to do.
