Review Moroccan Feast - Randwick

Stephen B. Cohen
Our dinner at Moroccan Feast was excellent. We loved every bit of our meals. Everything was cooked perfectly, it was very tasty and the portions were just right. I recommend the lamb chops served with caramelised onion, sultanas, prunes, apricot, almonds and cinnamon - a brilliant combination of flavours. The mafroom (beef meatballs with potatoes in a tomato sauce) was delicious. It was hard making our selections from the menu as there were so many dishes that we wanted to order. That's a great excuse for us to return to try them out.

Moroccan Feast is like being transported to Casablanca or Marrkech. We dined there and feasted on a Agadir Feast which featured dips, house made bread, falafels and small bowls of exquisitely prepared vegetables. The falafels were some of the best I have sampled in Sydney. Filled with coriander and parsely. Perfumed and perfectly spiced. The highlight of our meal was the lamb tagine. Cooked for hours, the lamb was tender was rare. Sweet and packing flavour. You can't leave Moroccan Feast without trying sfenj or Moroccan doughnuts. They were light, fluffy and superb!

Warmly greeted by the owner, our night out at cosy Moroccan Feast continued with warmth, hospitality and good food! Staff were extremely helpful in identifying vegan and gluten free options, which were delicious (I do rate the stuffed capsicum). We were treated to a nice glass of mint tea to finish our night off. Only thing to be conscious of is the price is a little higher than expected in the area, so go for a special occasion.

Sydney as a city is very multicultural, to this we are grateful, as this brings variety in culture, cusine and restaurants. Yet, there are only a handful of Moroccan restaurants in Sydney. Arestaurant with a warm and welcoming feel, it is decorated to theme with Moroccan artwork, lanterns and mosaic tables. The meal began with a nice glass of red and the Agadir Feast which consisted of a galaxy of dips, condiments and bread to whet the apetite. The spread almost taking two tables. You name it, it was on the table. From hommus and baba ganoush and a number of tasty salads. This set the precedent for what was to come, a banquet with generous portions. It is a good thing we came hungry. For some tradional North African bites; the rolled eggplant, and green falafel bowl. The green falafel were the goods, with a crisp outer crust and moist centre We loved the spicy cigars filled with minced beef and tahini, a Moroccan version of a spring roll. We were most looking forward to the tagines and were not disappointed. The tagine is probably the single most notable Moroccan dish, a cone shaped earthenware pot which is used to slow cook providing a rich flavorful meal. The lamb tagine was the standout the meat, so tender it fell apart at the sight of a fork. This was a beautifully fragrant with sweetness and spice from the prunes, apricot, caramelized onions and cinnamon. The Marrakesh chicken tagine, had more of a savoury flavour. Again the meat very tender falling off the bone, with nice spice and served cooked green olives. Finished off the with hot drinks and sweets. We suggest you order a thick brewed Moroccan coffee or traditional mint tea, a perfect counter to a sweet dessert. Maybe the sfinj too, which is a serve of mini Moroccan cinnamon doughnuts. These are not to be missed. Moroccan Feast is a warm, friendly local gem, serving traditional North African recipes passed down through the family. One of few restaurants in Sydney serving authentic Moroccan cuisine and as the name suggests, you will be in for a feast.

Quiet atmosphere, nice decorations. It's a shame that the feast isn't available for one person. Great Tajin dishes, moussaka and lamb chops. Not much amount for the moussaka, but a lot for the lamb one.

A touch of Morocco in Sydney đź‘Ś The ambiance is well decorated with the smell of great food being cooked in the kitchen. Generous serving size which is perfect to share and the taste is really good. Tajines especially the lamb chop is something I would go back for. The other highlight was the falafel, crunchy and perfect with the hommus. Overall great food & service. Recommend it.

An absolute flawless experience from start to finish. The balance of spices in their dishes is perfect, and everything was cooked perfectly. The green falafel with hommus and house made bread was a great start. Their lamb tagine was the standout dish for me, a lamb chop with sultanas, apricot, almonds and cinnamon balanced with some mild Moroccan spices. I highly recommend visiting this place and try as much food as possible

Was so surprised to find a restaurant like this in Randwick. Very impressed. The dips, salads and bread were so yummy. The Fez Capsicum was great too. This is s great place to eat. You can share the food, it's cozy and the service is natural and casual. Highly recommended

Last minute date night and it was great! Dips were delicious and decent serving size. Got the fish tagine and chicken kourdass which I both recommend!

Just had an amazing dinner. Everything we had was mouth watering. Dips with home made bread.......amazing. We then had the lamb tagine ( signature dish) and the mafroom. Both excellent. Really impressed with everything and looking forward to coming back again A true Moroccan Feast

Had my birthday party last night at morraccan feast and what an absolute treat. The dips came out lighting fast and deeelicious. Waiters were friendly and amiable. Our mains took a while to come out but you realises why when you open the clay tajouk pots. 9 meals come out slow cooked to perfection . The lamb was dripping off the bone!! Sweet apricots , sultanas and alluring spices were infused with the dishes to create a mouth watering experience . Our banquet set menu at $35 per head was ridiculously inexpensive for the quality that was dished out . No hesitation, only pleasure in recommending this healthy eatery!!

This restaurant is local gem! A humble and friendly place with beautiful interior. We got the adagir feast and the falafel with hummus - everything was awesome. We also got sfenj for dessert as part of the feast - a light and fluffy Moroccan donut covered with cinnamon sugar. The dishes came over very quickly and the super friendly service

Moroccan Feast is a special place, although from the outside it doesn’t look like much from the moment you walk the ambience and welcome opens up in to something else. The truly Moroccan food with a hint of an Israeli twist is incredible and you must get the salads and dessert/tea/coffee etc. for $12 per person on top of your main. Hope your tastebuds enjoy the sweet aromatic yet slightly spicy delights of Morocco 🇲🇦

Had been after some good tajine after trying it in France for the first time and finally have a spot in Sydney I can keep going back to. The vegetable tajine was clean, tasty, and a decent size, although I would hope so for $25! Will be back.

Great set up and ambience with soft moroccan background music. The cigar rolls and hommus falafel were delicious- I'd definately be going back for more. The chicken marakesh tagine was a slight let down in comparison. It didn't pack as much flavor as the entrees, but the chicken was cooked splendidly.

This is a friendly little neighbourhood place selling authentic Moroccan food. The ambience is well and truly Moroccan - the decor, the plates, everything. We started with the 'Agadir Feast' (Agadir being a popular seaside town for tourists in Morocco) which is a selection of dips, salads and 'home-made bread'. There was plenty of variety, though some of the little dishes didn't have much shine - the beetroot salad for instance appeared to be just cubed beetroot, and the 'home made bread' was a single bread roll. Perhaps it was baked earlier. The 'spicy cigars' (17) are pretty cool (mince beef wrapped in filo pastry). However the mains, in particular the tagines, are where the place really comes alive. Morocco is famous for these little clay ovens. While travelling you'll find them everywhere, in markets, by the roadside - hot little wonders of slow braised meat, usually with the addition of potatoes and carrots. Moroccan Feast is no different, and don't leave without trying at least one, preferably two. We had the 'lamb chops' (30), though I'll swear we tucked into a shank. Doesn't matter, it was perfect. Falling off the bone and perfectly set off by the sweetness of the caramelised onion and dried fruit (sultanas, apricots, prunes). There's a few interesting options for dessert as well, including a 'Moroccantini' of vanilla ice cream, crushed cookies, sesame sauce and date honey. I'm guessing they made that one up.

Came here for dinner on a Saturday. Between the 2 of us, we shared the entree of rolled eggplant and 2 mains of lamb chop tagine and barramundi fish tagine. We loved the rolled eggplant, the combination of the flavours so yum. We found the mains a bit disappointing - the lamb chop was too sweet for our liking and the barramundi fish was a bit ordinary.

We are keen to go back to try more entree dishes.

It is a very authentic and delicious cultured place with good atmosphere ambience and superb Moroccan food. Will definitely recommend this place to anyone and will come again.

Moroccan Feast is an absolute local gem!! The customer service is flawless, with staff who are warm and always greet you with a smile. The ambience has a very welcoming, 'family dinner party' type vibe. The food arrives fast and is absolutely delicious. My partner and I have been dining for years now and cannot go passed their rolled eggplant and lamb tagine! We absolutely love this place.

When they named this Sydney restaurant Moroccan Feast, they weren’t kidding!

If you love a little taste of a lot, then this is definitely a destination for your dining hit list. Choose from a huge variety of authentic Moroccan dishes including large share plates and traditional meaty mains.

Each plate presented is a true testament to the outstanding quality of the food here and it’s quite obvious as to why people continuously return.

The Randwick restaurant offers a few nice wines by the glass, but also has a BYO option which makes a night at Moroccan Feast extremely affordable.

Great for couples and large groups alike, it’s not likely to be one of the Eastern suburbs best kept secrets for much longer! So book a table today and enjoy a little spice in your life.
Love At First Bite
Moroccan Feast is a Moroccan restaurant situated in Randwick. Step into the restaurant and you will find yourself transported away to Morocco, the decor and warm lightly are absolutely gorgeous and I found myself excited and keen for an authentic Moroccan feed when we came here for dinner. To start off with, we ordered the Agadir Feast which comes with a range of the traditional Moroccan salads and dips with home made bread. We tried the lentil and capsicum, cabbage and coriander, lemon and herbs, spiced chickpea, roasted eggplant with home made aioli, beetroot salad, fez mathbua, hummus and chilli harissa. These were all so delicious and went perfectly with their warm home made bread. I also ordered a margarita which was nice and strong and went well with the side dishes.

The venue itself was full of culture and looked incredibly cute, from the mirrors to all of the wall hangings. The staff member serving us was so friendly and looked after us well. He served us the Feast with $10 per head extra on top if you’re looking to order it!. The Entree could have easily been consumed as the entire meal with the Spicy Cigars, Vegetable pasties, the fresh eggplant dips, lentils and chickpeas. The mains were incredible, that slow cooked beef with peas in red wine mmm.. and their signature Slow cooked Lamb with dates and apricots!Definitely the kind of food I need to be eating everyday, and can't wait to return with friends.Only downfall was the location being so far from my home but this would be super popular if situated in Newtown! So if you feel like trekking it out to randwick definitely one of my favourites for dinner in that area! Big thanks to the gents at Ompty for the invite :)
Sir And Mlady Dine Out
To stand out in an area like Randwick, where there is food on every corner, you need to do something different and you need to do it well. The team at Moroccan Feast in Randwick did both of these things. The food was incredible (who knew Moroccan food was so good?) and it’s a unique take in an area with such great food.

I love Sydney for the variety in term of the restaurants. All the culture are represented but you will find more easily some Asian food. So when i heard about some Moroccan food (which i really love) i was really excited to give a try. The restaurant is really typical and quite big so you can even plan to come with a lot of friends as it is for me the kind of meals that you share like for family feast. We tried the Agadir feast composed homemade bread and 10 salads and dips typical from Morocco. It was just so good! With so many different flavours and spices. We were 4 to share this and it is such a big feast that it could be a main meal as we were all food at the end.
We also tried the spicy cigars with mince beef and i could have it so much of them. So much flavours tobeach bites!! yummm
We wanted to try their Tajines as well. We tried the fish , the chicken and the lamb one. And i have to say that the slow cooked lamb is just AMAZING if you like the combination of sweet and savoury you will fall in love with this dish. With apricot, dates and cinnamon and served with couscous it is just the perfect combo.
And if like me you have a sweettooth , give a try to their sfinj, Moroccan donuts. It was insane as light and fluffy they were. I was full but i could have eat 2 or 3 easily.
To conclude if you want to change from your traditionnal dinner in Sydney just take a fligh to Randwick and travel directly to Morocco thanks to these very good dishes.

Moroccan Feast is an earnest and commendable restaurant in Randwick which offers a filling but affordable Moroccan fare. However, if you have tried the legendary hummus at Kepos Kitchen where the chef grinds and mixes the hummus before your eyes, the preserved and packaged ones at MF are miles apart.

The fluffy and tasty bread mixes well with Agadir Feast which adds nine eye-opening dips including lentil and capsicum, cabbage and coriander, lemon and herbs, roasted eggplant with aioli, beetroot salad, carrot salad, fez mabua, hummus and chilli harissa. My favourites are the savoury roasted eggplant and the tantalising chilli harissa. However, these dips were not prepared fresh and it was pretty obvious.

My main dish, chicken kourdass where chicken tight fillets were wrapped around seasoned beef and served with pickled lemon sauce and saffron in a sizzling plate. The delightful experience was eye opening but the chicken thigh was overcooked and dry.

Randwickians have been keeping quiet about Moroccan Feast for years, almost to a point of petty selfishness. It’s okay to share, Randwick!. Well, the cat’s out of the bag, and thanks to the gents over at Ompty, we were able to get in on this gem. As soon as you step off the street and into Moroccan Feast, you’re swept into a Moroccan happy place. The space is tastefully decorated with authentic Moroccan items. Lamps, rugs and paintings display themselves whilst mellow Moroccan music fills the air. There was so much Morocco going on, we even started talking about planning a holiday there!
Does My Bomb Look Big In This
Our colourful mosaic table is covered with small dishes. We’re eating something called an Agadir Feast, a ten-dollar add-on to any main here at Moroccan Feast. The experience of grazing across this spread makes me wonder why Moroccan cuisine isn’t more popular in Sydney? It's as climate and flavour appropriate as Lebanese and Turkish, which have both taken off here. Crunchy chickpea salad speaks to Australian nostalgia and memory, if you grew up on barbeques and cans of four-bean mix. There’s an earthy carrot salad, and a light, bright lentil salad with parsley, coriander, shallot and lime. It’s the kind of food that’s made for leisurely meals with family and friends. We punctuate our plentiful dips, salads and bread with a few entrees. Rolled Eggplant ($18) takes beef mince stuffed charred eggplant slices rich with ras el hanout (this spice blend says Morocco, like garam masala says India) and presents them with...

This restaurant is located on Avoca Street. The interior has lovely carpets on the wall with cute candle holders on each table and lots of cushions on the banquette seating. It is such a lovely atmosphere to be in. Service was so personable and warm.

We begun with the Agadir Feast. This consisted of a range of salads, dips, and home made bread. The warm bread went well with the dips and the salads were tasty. The highlights included Hummus, Fez Mathbua, Carrot Salad, and Roasted Eggplant With Homemade Aioli.

We continued on with the stars of the show, the tagines! The ones chosen were Lamb Chops & Marrakesh Chicken. These were served with couscous. The meats were melt in the mouth. These are slow cooked and so tender. Bursting with flavour and oh so yummy. Our favourite were the lamb chops. The meat was absolutely wonderful and the sauce was flavoured with onion and dried fruits. The sweetness of sauce really shined.

As part of the Agadir Feast, we finished off Sfenj and mint tea. The Moroccan doughnuts were light and fluffy and dusted with sugar.

This restaurant is well worth seeking out and trying out. It definitely matched what we had tried in Marrakech.

In Short: Honest, hearty, delicious, generous Moroccan food delivered with a smile. Order the lamb tagine, and spicy cigars, that’s a must. For dessert, you cannot leave without trying the sfenj.

Morocco has always held a level of intrigue to me. Medinas, a storied history, palaces, souks and many medieval cities ensures that it sits very high on my bucket list. In the meantime, while the priorities of raising a family take first place, there’s always a Moroccan Feast in Randwick to at least sate my appetite. When the fine folks at Ompty Media alerted us to this little bit of north Africa in Randwick, there was no holding me back. What made the night infinitely more enjoyable was dining with Lisa from Weekendfoodesscapes and her partner. Walking into Moroccan Feast, I was instantly transported to a medina. There’s a real warmth to the space and the walls are adorned with beautiful ornate mirrors and lanterns that have been brought in from Morocco. The lighting is soft and intimate and makes for a peaceful dining atmosphere.

Moroccan Feast is a unique and cultural restaurant located in Randwick with decore furnishings all from Morocco. It's quite rare to find a Moroccan restaurant in Sydney. Think African influences of spices, earthy and bold flavours. . With the delightful pleasure of my foodie friends Coco and Vine, I walk into a Moroccan world. There's big artistic displays on the wall and I eye off the beautiful teapot and cups of mint tea.

A fabulous place for a BYO dinner with friends. Serving up some delicious Moroccan food this restaurant was perfect to experience as a group which allowed us to try as much of the menu as possible!

If you haven't brought your own try some of the reds including a Grenache and a Malbec. For starters we had soft homemade bread with an array of dips and vegetables together with the spicy cigars - spiced mince beef wrapped in filo pastry. For mains you just have to order the tagines! We tried the shakshuka, Marrakesh chicken, beef and lamb chop tagines. It was difficult to pick a favorite but the slow cooked lamb chops with caramelised onion, sultanas, prunes, apricots, almonds and cinnamon is worth coming back for!

And just when you think you do not have room for dessert you just have to try the Moroccan donuts with cinnamon sugar. The donuts were divine and worth eating hot! If you want something cooler try the vanilla ice cream topped with crushed cookies, sesame sauce and date honey.

Put this one on your list!

Lovely spot for Moroccan food, warm & friendly staff. Look forward to going back to trying more of the dishes - fantastic dips & meat courses.

Excellent value. The flavours were subtle and hints of sweetness. Meat for both the lamb and chicken tagines were off the bone. Decor too is very charming with moroccan lights and rugs and throws splashed here and there.

The heady mix of fruit, spice and meats has made this a firm favourite with my family. The quality of food and service is first class and the range of flavours will blow your mind. Try the Lamb Tangine or the Moussaka - or just pick anything. It's all great. Nice atmosphere too.

Interesting to say the least.

We had never tried Moroccan in Australia but were pleasantly surprised by the cuisine. The dishes were filling and didn't taste too bad and, in fact, tasted quite nice; however, they are a tad left field for us and probably an acquired taste.

The service was good but a bit disorderly. The ambience was a letdown, as it was noisy, as you can imagine with this area close to the University of New South Wales (but not as close to the university as other restaurants in the area).

We went for diner to the moroccan Feast. Very nice decoration and great service.
The food reminded me my home country Morocco . All dishes were delicious with very generous portions. We don't serve couscous with Tajine in morocco but except that little detail everything was perfect !

They look good, I'd really want to try it some day, I guess whenever I visit there I'm hitting you guys :D I just hope it's all good when I come :p

Such a great, little restaurant for a tasty and hearty meal. I can see myself frequenting this place during the colder months. It can get busy and quite loud, but the service is very friendly. BYO is available, which is the better option, as the wine list is extremely limited. Nice way to start the meal, is to share some dips/ salads and bread. Lovely flavours and more than enough for a second serving of bread, if required. Their signature dish, lamb tagine was incredible, very tender and I enjoyed the dried fruits, which gave the dish a subtle sweetness. The beef tagine is pretty good too.

Absolutely Delicious. This is the first time I have ever written a comment about food on these forums, But I felt it necessary to say how amazing the food was. Everything was so flavoursome and fresh and the service was amazing. Definitely will be coming back! And BYO is just a bonus!

Dont Believe Some of these Misguided Reviews...This was a gem of a restaurant.. Tried this place for the first time and wow what a surprise. Food was fantastic, from the dips and breads for entrees to the lamb tangine for mains and then the chocolate soufflé for dessert. The lamb was defineately the standout. Slow cooked and falling off the bone, then served in a traditional Moroccan plate.

A bottle of pretty good merlot was $24, so you couldn't complain when you had to pour it yourself. With entrees, mains and a bottle of red, dinner came to $95.00. That included a half a main takeaway for tomorrow ;)

So glad we went based on seeing the menu on the street and some family and friend recommendations. This is well worth a go.

Moroccan Feast is yet another gem of a restaurant hidden away in the pages of the Entertainment Book. The restaurant sits in a quiet unassuming street in Randwick, but once you’re inside you’ll feel as though you’ve been transported to Tangier or Casablanca.
Moroccan Feast restaurant delivered a great culinary experience. Excellent customer service with nice food also created an evening to remember. I can still remember how nice their Lamb Tajine was.

Overall, I would highly recommend this restaurant if looking for authentic, honest, homestyle Moroccan food that is tasty, good value for money. Service the first time we went wasn't that good- we had a very grumpy looking waitress who hardly spoke to us and made us feel a bit like second class citizens for using a discount voucher but the second time we got a lovely gentleman that was very accomodating with our last minute booking, polite, friendly and not overbearing- he checked on us every so often without it feeling like it was intrustive or constantly interupting our meal, the waitress was no where in sight- maybe she had left?

We have always been fans of Subway as a relatively healthy fast food alternative, so you can imagine our excitement when we received an invite to celebrate the launch of Subway’s new limited edition sub. This year’s first release is the Moroccan Lamb sub with mint yoghurt dressing…sounds nice and exotic right? Well they certainly kept with the exotic theme by choosing the Moroccan Feast restaurant at Randwick to host the event, with its elaborately decorated interior which really made us feel like we’d just stepped into another world.

Another weekend, another exotic location. This time it was Morocco! E and I decided to go to Moroccan Feast over the weekend. I loved the decor of the restaurant. The tiled floors and tables made me feel like I really had been transported to Morocco.

Shocking!!!! I can't believe how this place went down the hill since I been there with my family last year and two years ago. We used to go there every year since 2008 for our family yearly gathering, this is definitely our last time
Too many changes and the taste of the food has changed as well. The lamb is still good but the rest was disappointing include the shocking service.

Some of the best Moroccan food I have ever had. Get the lamb tagine - it's amazing! Service is also pleasant as is decor.

The Lamb Tajine was mind-blowing... Loved the eggplant rolls too...
Alison
Beautiful decor and the food is so fragrant. Subtle spices are blended for a true feast. Have the eggplant filled with mince and the lamb tagine. The hot apple cider is great too

Had walked past this place many times but decided to stop in tonight. The place was packed & managed last table for 2. Overall food was good, but suggest you order a side of harissa $3 as for Moroccan it is a bit plain & needs this added spice. We had the mixed starter of 4 chefs selections $18 which were all tasty. Mains of Marakesh Chicken & Moroccan Mousaka were good. Bit of a surprise when we got the bill as pita bread charge of $3.60 was added to starter and corkage of $4 per head added. Neither of which was detailed on the menu. Overall good food but watch for hidden extra charges

Brilliant!!!. Unusual cuisine and unusual experience.
The décor makes you feel in Marrakesh (just visited there last year)
The food was fresh and full of flavour.
Prices not cheap as Thai but definitely worth it.
It was very busy(Tuesday night) and the service was great (only two floor staff on full restaurant)

We specially loved the Moroccan Mouskka (eggplant, beef, and potatoes)

Great eastern suburbs escape!
Rob
Delicious!!!. Delicious, unique, value for money, exceptional experience

Can get too busy on the weekend but definitely worth trying!

Service can be better but it was extremely busy on the Friday night.

Like it very much!. Great little find.
Not another ordinary place, well invested decor, lots of care in the service and much attention to details on the food.

Price is very reasonable to the large portion we got.

I recommend to check this place out to does who love to eat food with spices. the lamb Tajine is my favorite

Cheers,
Stephen

Very much like it!. Good Food, Good value, Good service, good place

I'm a hard to please person but this place did not disappointed me at all!
I'm a broker who travel allot overseas and Moroccan Feast got one of the best atmosphere I seen.

Well well well what can I say. I've had better meals out of an army ration pack. After deciding to give this a shot, I went and ordered a chicken dish and was quite excited when this large impressive dish was put in front of me. When the lid was taken off I felt like a 9 year old who had just been told there is no Santa on Xmas eve. The chicken was tiny, and what ever meat I managed to painfully extract from it tasted like it had gone throw thesock of a morrocan gentleman. Service was crap, then I had the honour of paying nearly $30 for the pleasure, so I came home and made some instant noodles

Great Place!. We had a great dinner at Moroccan Feast last week, the food was yummy, the atmosphere was great and the service was fast.

the Fish and the lamb tagine was absolutely divine.

check out their Banquet menu for group of 8 and more
