Place looks fantastic! Huge space & great area outside for the kids to have a run around. Awesome to have a more casual option for a bite & a drink on the Peninsula!

Nice spot for breakfast we sat outside I had the Viking and Red Hill apple juice. Coffee was very nice but too early to try the wine. Chocolate shake and homemade Brownie hit the spot for our son! Staff were great!

A weekend away with friends in Mornington Peninsula, I found this gorgeous cafe for a Sunday morning brunch!  Nordie Cafe has a modern scandinaviaan twist to their menu and we were very excited to try the place.

🔆LOCATION🔆

Nordie Cafe is situated in Red Hill area within the Mornington Peninsula. It was about a 15 minute drive from our AirBnB in Capel Sound just by the beach.

The exterior of the cafe is of a dark blue grey colour and very modern looking and situated in a small row of shops.  Upon entering the counter and barista coffee station is on the right hand side, separating the dining area is a large open shelf with books, knick knacks that is available for sale.  To the left is 2 spacious communal long table with swivel stools, and if you walk further to the back there is another separate dining section with more tables and chairs.

There is a large open space seating area outside and it would be suitable for big group gatherings on warm suny day.

We had arrived at 10.30am on a Sunday and the cafe was already at 95% full capacity. We ended up sitting at the end of one of the large communal tables.

🔆SERVICE🔆

The staff is extremely friendly and very down to earth.
Menu were provided and we were told to order and pay at the counter when ready.
I guess in a way it makes the service easier as it is hard to keep track of customers coming and going as I have noticed there were alot of people coming in to get take-away food and coffee.

Even though it was very busy, our meals arrived within 15-20 minutes from when we ordered.

🔆MENU/PRICE🔆

Red Hill Rosti Benedict, $22.50
(Potato rosti, smashed avocado, roast mushrooms, poached eggs, truffle hollandaise and macadamia)

Nordi Green Bowl, $22.00
(Kale, spinach, broccoli, beans, quinoa, beetroot hummus, salsa verde, pistachios, poached egg)

Salmon Smørrebrød, $17.50
(Open dark rye sandwhich with smoked salmon, red onion, horseradish spread, cucumber, remoulade and herbs)

🔆VERDICT🔆

I had the Nordi Green Bowl, but swapped the poached egg for a potati rosti which was an extra $3 charge. I was slightly surprised yet delighted when I started to eat the broccoli and beans to find that they were lightly cooked which was great. The warmth of the greens mixed with the kale and spinach over the betroot hummus was absolutely delicious.  The salsa verde was light and refreshing mixed with the greens and the flavours of the pistachio is a nice touch. Cannot fault this dish! Yum!!

Smørrebrød is a traditional Scandinavian open-faced sandwich. The smoked salmon was fresh and tasty mixed with the delicious remoulade herbs and horseradish spread!

The Red Hill Rosti Benedict as my friend put's it was "awesome"!  He loved the roasted mushrooms - there were 3 different types on the plate.  The potato rosti was cooked well with nice flavour and the truffle hollandaise rounded off the dish perfectly!

It was a delight to find this awesome cafe in Mornington Peninsula.  I will definitely visit Nordie Cafe again when I make a trip back there again!

Real score 4.2.

Nordie is a great find in an area that’s starting to take off. There’s much to admire here. We have a lovely modern cafe, more spacious than it appears from the street, and best of all the food is very very good. In keeping with recent trends, the cafe is significantly underrated currently on Zomato in my view, an area trend that’s hard to explain.

I did research recently on cafes and restaurants in the Mornington Peninsula area. Nordie jumped out as soon as I saw that they offer smorrebrod, the interesting Scandinavian open sandwich. We had a couple of absolute beauties of these in Copenhagen a few years ago, one in particular that we still talk about. We were keen to see how the ones at Nordie compared. The happy answer is they compare well. My partner and I both had the salmon smorrebrod. This is a super dish. Fresh as a daisy, near perfectly balanced and so nicely composed. The flavour is excellent. We thought it was great and well priced too. I would return here any day anytime for this cracking dish. It’s delicious, healthy and full of flavour.

We tried a few other things from the menu as well. I’m a sucker for a good soup particularly when the weather cools. Try as I might, I couldn’t look past the soup of the day here, pumpkin soup. I love a good one of these. The pumpkin soup here is again outstanding. Beautiful, lusciously presented and a generous serve for the price. It’s also anything but bland as well. This soup has a deep flavour and a gentle but alluring touch of heat, most likely from chilli. It also has beautiful consistency. Add lovely seeded toast, two large slices no less, and you’ve got a seriously good dish. I thought it was wonderful. My partner had a potato rosti as well. It too had a little bit of chilli making it extra tasty. She really enjoyed it too.

Our coffees to finish were good but they were perhaps not up to the high standard of the rest of the experience. This struck as as one area that might benefit from a little improvement.

The cafe isn’t perfect - the order from the counter thing, for example, struck as curious for a cafe of this standard. But, the quality of the food is obviously the main thing. The food is terrific here. Fresh, beautifully presented and with great flavours. And that’s why Nordie is so well worth travelling to.

Perfectly decored for a small Scandinavian cafe. Their smoked salmon Benny tasted delicious with perfectly balanced season and smoothy texture provided from the sesame avocado. I would have loved to have more of the potato rosti but nonetheless it's serving portion was adequate.

Excellent service. They were great even though our young child wasn’t behaving. Food was nice and the decor was lovely and scandy. They even let us take a magazine home.

This is no average cafe.. As there were only two of us (and a dog) visiting Nordie, we were only able to try a couple of things on the menu.. In saying that, our Benedicte Rosti and Danish Hot Dog were both excellent! Can't wait to head back and try some of the other options as well..

What a treat! I came across this little gem purely by chance after having an explore of Arthur's Seat. A charming and modern cafe that had a great choice of food (including for my wife, who is allergic to wheat and my 2 year old daughter). The food was excellent and the ladies were super warm and welcoming. We also grabbed takeaway and will certainly be back for another visit.

Hats off to the chefs for their amazing talents in making beautifully displayed and very tasty food. The coffees were divine and the environment was so cosy and welcoming. There are so many cafes around the area and this is by far one of the best we have been to. Thank you for your beautiful hospitality and we look forward to making this our new local ❤️ Well done! Do yourself a favor and take the time to visit this beautiful place!

Beautiful food and coffee in a relaxing setting with lovely staff. The corn fritters were particularly delicious and the coffee snobs in our group were very happy. Thank you for accommodating our big group! The best way to end a weekend in Morningron Peninsula.

Beautiful little cafe that always has polite and friendly staff. Consistent coffee and great tasting food. Only criticism is that their pre-made pastries/sweets at the counter could cater for more Gluten Free and Dairy Free customers.
