Enjoyed a lovely weekday lunch at Josef Chromy before a flight back to Melb. The restaurant was bright and comfortable. Their menu isn’t very extensive however there is a nice variety. Staff were friendly and so passionate about the wine and food. All produce is locally sourced and fresh. The grounds are absolutely beautiful and we look forward to coming back for a longer stay.

Ordered all the 4 main courses. All were cooked very well. The point noir was good - fresh and nutty. Nice view of garden-like farm. Waitress were professional and friendly. Wine was awesome. Would love to come back soon.

We spent the day in the Tamar Valley and didn’t get much further than the Josef Chromy Estate. What started as a wine tasting quickly became a long lunch. The setting was absolutely stunning and the staff were friendly, relaxed and accommodating. Food was top notch, with decent sized portions and quality ingredients that were fresh. Oysters were from Bruny Island and were spectacular. My only qualm is that the menu was filled with meat heavy dishes. Would be nice to a see one slightly lighter vegetarian dish on there (just for contrast and those not wanting meat). Aside from that, I can’t fault our experience and we would certainly recommend to others visiting the region.

Came here for a wedding at lunchtime. There was a beautiful cheese platter on arrival. Very generous portions. I had the tuna. It was beautiful and fresh with artichoke and new potatoes. I also tasted the braised beef cheek and the pork with stonefruit. Despite the desserts being deconstructed (not my favourite way to present a dessert), they were all beautifully balanced. My personal favourite was the praline brik with fennel caramel.
The accompanying wines were exquisite (one of the best sav blanc) and tge staff were very accommodating with food allergies. The backdrop is beautiful and adds to the ambience.

Well worth the visit.
Very limited selection on the menu for lunch but well and truly compensated with outstanding freshness and quality of dishes.
Wines are excellent.

On our amazing trip to Tasmania, we decided to go to Josef Chromy Winery. This is a cellar door and restaurant. I didn’t really know much about the place before I went so I basically put myself in Andrea’s hands. Luckily for her it payed off this time. We started of at the cellar door, waiting for our reservation. Naturally we decided to try a few of their wines. They have a huge variety, so I’m not going to go into detail explaining them all to you. Anyway our favorites were the Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. The wine was so good we bought six bottles.

Amazing views, food, wines & service. We did the Feed Me menu that comes with 4 courses, bread & butter, and a complimentary cheese croquette appetiser. We topped this up with pairing wines (4 glasses - Chardonnay, Riesling, Pinot Noir & a dessert Riesling). $75/pp for Feed Me menu, $35/pp for pairing wines.

Favourite dishes: Beef Carpaccio & Salmon Sous vide.
Not too fav dish: Lamb belly was too fatty and rich.

Outstanding flavours - perfectly balanced, unique and beautifully presented.. each of us was so deeply satisfied with our own dishes we couldn't bear to change the flavour by trying someone else's dish. The wines were beautifully paired - a special recommendation for the Chardonnay and Pinot Noir... the waitress was kind enough to allow a tasting of each before choosing. The gardens and wineyards around the restaurant are exquisite and perfect for a sunny lunch or sipping wine on the deck.

Always a pleasure to visit this picturesque property. The food is consistently fantastic with share platters to have outside with fantastic views of the vineyard or the well manicured garden. Or a compact but well thought out restaurant menu.

My only complaint today after quite a number of visits to this fine establishment was the 'greeting' we received upon arrival. Our mature party of 4 was told we couldn't stand at the bar as we would make it 'too congested plus you do know it is $5 per person to taste'.

Not the front of house experience I have received before or certainly expected from this well known winery. I like my friends were a bit taken aback and certainly didn't feel welcomed. Lucky the winery has such a great reputation otherwise I would have left!!!!

A more mature lady with fantastic knowledge and fabulous personality looked after us once we were seated and nothing was a problem from them on.

My suggestion to you is to chose your front of house carefully as they are the face of your whole business!!

Good service, good view, nice atmosphere and the food was great. Wine was also a delight! Good portion sizes. Missed out on an earlier tasting so will come back for that.

Just visited the winery today. I've never had such a comfortable wine tasting session! It's totally well worth $15 and the effort to make the booking. Sandy(the lady who served us) is very knowledgeable and very willing to share and introduce wine that she thinks we will like based on our drinking preference. She made us feel at home. The surroundings around the winery are also beautiful and offer lots of opportunities for nice photos. It's a must go place if you are in Launceston! Will definitely come again for my next trip :)

Enjoyed our wine tasting, especially we were sat down by the big window overlooking the vineyard. We also made reservations for lunch, and it was delicious! They also have a great outdoor space to accomodate large groups. The day when we were here, there’s a group of more than 30 people. Make sure you also spend some time walking around the estate, there’s a lake :)

Welcomed to an extremely beautiful location by lovely staff ready to great you with a smile and help you with anything you need. Wine tastings, alfresco bar area with delicious cocktails featuring Josef Chromy wines. Followed by an open, gorgeous dining room with incredible local produce, treated meticulously. Seasoned and plated beautifully. A beautiful relaxing moment full of lasting memories.

Situated in Tamar Valley with beautiful lake and vineyard views. We got a reservation for lunch and were slightly disappointed that our food was not as good as the online reviews. My Pan Seared Market Fish was too dry in texture and husband’s lamb was under-seasoned 😭 But apart from that, the rest was pretty good! 😮‍💨 Sadly, we didn't get to do the wine tasting too as it was fully booked.

A beautiful lunch but the most stunning experience was the wine tasting. Our group of 5 were looked after by Sandy, the Cellar Door manager. Sandy elevated our experience beyond all expectations, accommodating our requests and delivering a most professional, thorough and passionate explanation of each wine. You could sense her genuine love and passion for the vino. Ten out of ten. Thank you Sandy and the Josef Chromy team.

I’ve been hooked on their Zdar Pinots for a number of years and still only have a couple of the 2012 bottles left. Finally got down to Launceston yesterday and went there for lunch. The atmosphere, surrounds, service and the food & wine were impeccable. I had a glass of their 2017 Riesling and a glass of their 2019 Pinot - both were superb. Highly recommend this establishment

Nice food and wine here. It's good to have a walk along the walking path towards their pavilion after dining there. Only 15mins drive from Launceston which is worth coming.
