Not too oily, not too much batter. Seasoning good, not too salty. Potato cakes great.
Best fish and chips around! Some friends and I have made every second Sunday, Fish and Chip Sunday's just so we have an excuse to order from here. Great service and the food is always delicious!
Fresh, non-greasy and tasty fish and chips. Without costing a small fortune!
Have had fried flake, grilled fish, hotdog in batter, chips, onion rings, fried dim sims and more...and only real criticism was freshness of the South Melbourne dim sims they sell here - wasn't horrible but not fantastic.
Tried the next closest fish and chip shop in Preston (on Enfield Ave) just recently (Harry's was closed for the holidays, I think!) and it was woeful - especially when held up against this place. Suspect other reviews may have been with old owners perhaps as these guys seem to take pride in their quality and non-greasyness, as they should!
Great fish, bad chips. Went here on good friday for the obligatory annual fish and chips. the fish was spectacular! far too many places will sell you a wafer thin piece of fish in very thick, very rubbery batter. harry's on the other hand had nice, firm, thick fillets of fish that were lightly battered and fried to crispy perfection. potato cakes and calamari were also very crispy and tasty. after such success, the chips the place served up were a massive let down. they were bland, flavourless and not crispy enough. the service was friendly and the staff were very helpful despite the obvious good friday deluge of customers. prices were also really cheap for what was given. Finally, make sure if you get calamari you ask for the REAL calamari and not the frozen processed crumbed stuff - they sell both at the same price, but will give you the process unless you ask for real!
I always get the snack attacks and its always a cheap eat for two people maybe three. always enjoyable to eat in winter!
