Review Saint Urban - Richmond

Sally Walsh
While visiting Melbourne I met a friend for lunch at WAYGOOD Swan st Richmond. One of my favourite streets when I visit & WAYGOOD has impressed. Excellent customer service, which is most important to me. A frequently changing menu based on what is in season. Food was of high quality, super fresh & absolutely delicious! Daily specials that staff recite at the table. We started with cocktails & finished with a bottle of Prosecco to accompany lunch. I highly recommend WAYGOOD. Eat in, pick up & they deliver. You will 100% enjoy! Casual or dressy it’s no matter, as Kurt Cobain said “come as you are”.

$65pp feed me option was really good. The chickpea thing with the kasundi- didn't expect it- so delicious. The rest of the food was very well prepared. Snappy service, friendly staff. Ignore the negative reviews, those people must have woken up on the wrong side of the bed or something. This place is awesome!

Lovely people, fitted us in at the last minute on a busy night but made us feel special and had a terrific ‘feed me’ meal, which was both interesting and delicious, as well as nicely balanced for quantity - didn’t leave feeling hungry but they didn’t overfeed us either. Definitely coming back, thanks for a great evening.

I had Friday lunch here for the first time with a friend and work colleague - chosen simply from these reviews and the location. I was totally impressed with the excellent food and service. We shared from the small and middle sized plates - amazing polenta, chilli beans and almonds, luscious Mac and cheese inspired croquettes and a perfect salad. I had a glass of rose that matched well with our food - it had been one of those weeks! I don’t often place a review for restaurants as I am no foodie but this was such a surprise experience and the staff were so helpful and engaged I felt it only fair - without the other reviews already submitted I would not have known about Way Good! Perhaps I can help you to choose it too :)

I just had lunch at Waygood and absolutely loved it. The staff were very friendly and attentive, the restaurant is gorgeous and food was delicious. Highly recommend to those looking for a bit of a hidden gem in Richmond, I’ll be back very soon.

One word; Delicious. It was amazing how melt in your mouth the pork was. Was a very pleasant surprise. The flank steak was also just as tender. The liver parfait had a buttery smooth texture and the crunchy corn accompaniment was the perfect match. Portion sizes are generous and the service was attentive and friendly. Every dish was bursting with flavours. Highly recommended!

Our group of 12 had an amazing time last night. Great environment and food. A wide range of alcohol and food. Efficient services with some super fun and friendly staff. Thank you!

We were recommended by a friend to come here and had high expectations given their experience. Unfortunately we found the food to be quite average and we felt each dish was a little dissapointing. The shoestring fries were bland, the eggplant was under seasoned, the kingfish was a tad over cooked and the pork was the biggest letdown - it was over cooked, rubbery, hard to cut through and the crackle was non-existent. We gave some feedback about our meal and was disappointment when we weren’t offered a discount (we left majority of the pork dish behind). For the amount of money we paid ($180), we left feeling pretty sad about our meal. 10/10 for ambience. Service could have been better.

Had a meal here while having a long weekend in Melbourne, then back to briabane so stopped here for our last night out. And basically cannot fault this little restaurant. Food was spectacular the chef has a great knowledge of flavour and combinations. I had the special ox tail my friends tried the menu pork and special pork. All just as nice as each other perfectly paired with great wine. I myself am Scottish so had a few drams. The few whiskys on the menu were great would be nice to see more. However Ben our server recommended a French/Scottish malt to me and woe he wasn't wrong it was amazing. Ben served us most of the night and was very knowledgeable on the food and drinks. Alongside a female server I didn't catch her name. She was so sharp she noticed us eyeing out the table opposite from us desserts. Overall if I'm ever back in Melbourne I will stop here again. Cannot fault this place. Wish we had time to try the sister place aswell. Thank you Saint.urban for a great dining experience and excellent food and drink.

One of the best hidden gems around ... awesome food, excellent wine list, great service from Ben, and BYO on Tuesday nights for locals. And for smokers or those want to sit outside ... a special outdoor streetside area complete with blankets to keep the winter chills away. Way cool. Go once, go often. You won't be disappointed.
Lynden Pennicott
This is a wonderful funkly little wine bar and restaurant that oozes character. They have an eclectic wine list covering a range of styles and budgets. The service was casual and friendly. It was a relaxing place to stop and watch the world go by for a while.

Great place. Intimate great food. Wine list a bit pricey, but over all I thought this place was terrific

Loved loved the food and the dining experience! Efficient staff made everything perfect and attention given when needed. The food is no fuss French, European with a twist. I am a foodie so is my family and it was a refreshing experience greatly enjoyed by all of us. Decent prices too! Keep up the good work Saint Urban!

The staff are amazing and very knowledgeable, the food is always outstanding and the atmosphere is awesome. This is a regular haunt of ours and it absolutely never disappoints. Don't take my word for it though - try it for yourself

A great space, good wines, good food and friendly service, highly recommended, especially in an area becoming more and more beer barns.

We have been Twice and have loved the good wine selection and most importantly the staff. We also love the early session 6:30 our favourite

Friendly, comfortable and sophisticated without stuffiness. The chicken liver parfait is balanced and will definitely come back for the atmosphere food and drinks

Exceptional food, drinks, service and atmosphere. Ben, and anyone we encountered, couldn't have been better, or more supportive to us with a newborn in tow . Made for a delicious, relaxing and enjoyable evening with good friends.

Great food , friendly staff and atmosphere , certainly a great addition to swan street richmond. I am yet to take a friend there who hasn't loved it !

Lovely winebar and restaurant in Richmond. Great atmosphere. Online reservation system only showed outdoor tables, but after calling they did have a table left and booked us in. Service was fine and friendly. Set 2 course menu for $69 seemed a bit steep, around $55 would've been more reasonable. Great service and recommendations around matching wines. The $12 bubbles were delish and a steal at that price. Covid precautions could be better. Saw waiter handling cash, then touching the screen, a pen jar, his apron and never saw waiters using hand sanitiser or washing hands. Think there could be an improvement considering the times we live in.
Food was good.
Stephen Grima
The food was bland. The feed me was a rip off, would have been cheaper to order same number of dishes separately and we would have gotten more varied dishes. We got 1 starter, 1 entree and then 1 main each (the same one!) With a side of fries....Overall very disappointing.

Came for dinner here Friday night as we liked it the first time.

The second experience was completely different to the first time and it was all down to one reason.
CUSTOMER SERVICE or there lack of.
Now I'm not going to name the waiter as it would be rude of me however I will say he was of Asian descent. From the moment we walked in he did not make us feel comfortable at all. In fact he made us all feel very uncomfortable the entire time we were at the restaurant. He was pushy and arrogant and forceful and did not really want to be there from the way he acted.
It's really unfortunate as the food is good and a credit to the chef,
It's sad that such a nice place with lovely decor employs someone that is presented so poorly and does not enjoy looking after customers.

After this experience we will not be back and it's a real shame as we have many friends in the Richmond area and will be letting them know to be cautious of this particular person who should probably not be in hospitality as he ruined our night.

This review is without prejudice and only based on our experience on Friday night.

Sunday lunch with friends. A friendly, welcoming space and great service. The menu is relatively limited but well constructed. And supplemented by daily specials. Burata with roasted peppers and crisp capers. Excellent and frankly, more some. Followed by spaghetti Vongole. I’d have preferred more chilli but a personal preference maybe. A bottle of Glaetzer The Bishop and a just lovely lunch on a cool Melbourne day.

Such an awesome vibe. A perfect date spot. The service was lovely & friendly. Locals night on Tues is great, as you can bring in your own wine $15 corkage. The ratchet board was impressive with melted cheese, although the jamon was the best part. We ordered chips instead of the potato. For chip feedback, they could be a little more fried & salted. The mains were amazing. Chicken ragu pasta was a delight, but the standout was the slow cooked beef shin special (could have done with a bit more seasoning). The squid ink pasta special looked incredible (yes, I was eyeing off a strangers plate). Dessert recommendation is the chocolate pod which I still have flashbacks of now & then. The orange brûlée was not the best brûlée I've tasted - a wider shallower ramekin would have made it easier to share & potentially improved the taste so as to have a better brûlée mix to burnt sugar ratio. Great social atmosphere as it got later.

Phenomenal! Service from Allan was unforgettable.. the food the wine and the ambiance all awesome! We had the tiger flathead, scotch fillet and two of the entree specials... can’t wait to come back

platters on point, amazing service and wine list, would highly recommend this for an afternoon wine and cheese on the cute balcony and watch Richmond go by!

Another Melbourne restaurant that knocks it out of the part. The food, ambiance and service are all perfect. Relaxed, friendly ambiance. Knowledgeable and attentive service and most importantly, food that melts in your mouth! 10/10
Predator
Beautiful place with nice ambient and food. They could be more generous with their serves. Some of our entrees and sides look very very small and disappointing. Overall can't fault the taste. Also the wine glasses give the impression of under pouring.
Jennitals
LIT: it's a great place to catch up with friends or have a romantic dinner. The interior is stunning and slightly dim lighting. My favourites were actually the entrees and dishes to share. Loved the duck liver parfait, lamb belly and salmon! Yum!

NOT SO LIT: not a wide variety of main dishes and very expensive mains for what it was but still enjoyable!

Having recently moved to Melbourne, I was overwhelmed with choices of where to dine. After doing some research I found this place and I couldn't be happier with my choice. The waitress was amazing, very engaging and a little entertaining (in a good way). The charcuterie board was the best I've had. My 7 year old niece, an expert on prosciutto and jamon, was impressed with the cured meats. Mains were delicious with 2 of my dinner party enjoying the specials of lamb shoulder and veal osso bucco. I had pork loin and it was cooked perfectly. All this delicious food was accompanied by a delicious bottle of Crittenden Wines Pinot Noir. Couldn't fault this place. Atmosphere, service, food, wine list and ambience was amazing.

Welcome to a gem in Richmond. Staff were super friendly and professional. We ordered the octopus as entree. Main were amazing with the duck leg and on special pork belly on cauliflower purée with vinegar season Cherry's .

Desert were the chocolate ..
A must try on winters day.

P.s: coffee a bit burned so better pass

We had really good time today for my husband's birthday. The share menu offers different variety of food and each of them is absolutely delicious! My personal favourite are steak & panna cotta! Staff were super friendly & helpful! Can't ask for more!

Visited Saint Urban tonight after wanting to come here for a long time. The setting is really lovely, nice and cosy. We had an early booking of 6.30pm and it filled up pretty quickly from 7pm.
We ordered several things from the menu - had the sheep's haloumi which was served with a beetroot compote, burratta, sticky ribs (not sticky at all but still delicious, not too fatty and good ratio of meat) and thrice cooked chips. Everything was delicious although it would have been nice to get some type of sauce with the chips - no biggie though. I'll definitely come back to try some of their main menu items.
The service was great/friendly and drinks topped up promptly also.

Lovely classy bistro with a relaxed feel. We have been here twice for lunch and it's been great. Sharp witty waiter who knows his food. I had a rump steak that was cooked beautifully. The salmon was done well too. After lunch coffee was perfect.

Nearly a 4, urban diner with modern comfort food. Enjoyed the cottechino sausage with mustard fruits, the fig stuffed with goats curd, the beef rump cap, the fish. Relaxed ambience and good for a Friday unwind or local dinner. Worth a try.

Has been my favourite 'go to' restaurant for some time. The ambience is lovely, the food is delicious and the wine selections broad and interesting cleverly guided by the delightful Ben. Loathe to share this place but it's too good to keep secret.

The sticky lamb ribs and chicken parfait with popped corn are 2 mouth-watering entrees.

Saint.Urban are brought to us by the same team as Punch Lane. To say that we had high expectations of Saint.Urban is an understatement, because Punch Lane has served us high quality food consistently for years. Sometimes we forget what a difficult task it is for a restaurant to maintain food standards of high quality, yet able to constantly change their menu. Punch Lane is a restaurant who has achieved this, and we can honestly say that we've never had a bad dish there. As we have found out, Saint.Urban has kept with this trend.

Located on bustling Swan Street in Richmond, Saint.Urban is on the quieter end. However this did not help us much on a Saturday night, as we couldn't find any parking and found ourselves parked 600 metres away from the restaurant. Not a big deal for us as a bit of cardio couldn't hurt, but you should be mindful if you're someone who leaves the house at the last minute.

As soon as I walked in, I instantly fell in love with the decor of the restaurant. The use of arches were prominent throughout the restaurant. It was used from their menu specials board to their windows. Speaking of which, I sat in awe as I watched how the windows opened up! Each arch has the ability to open up to let air in, I have never seen this design before, it was beautiful. Raw exposed concrete walls provide the perfect backdrop

Well as for the food, it was exceptional! I'd say it more than exceeded our expectations. The Wagyu bresaola had some of the most intense beef flavours I've ever experienced from Wagyu beef. It was also a generous serving for the price. The sheep haloumi with peppered beetroot compote was a brave dish, but boy did they pull it off! Who knew beetroot and cheese could taste so good, the texture and sweetness of the beetroot blended seamlessly with the haloumi. The beetroot also served it's purpose of taking away the gamey edge of the sheep haloumi. The mains dishes, confit duck and snapper were equally satisfying. Neither were overcooked, and the honeyed pear looked stunning on the plate, well played Saint.Urban!

Saint.Urban has firmly planted themselves as one of the best culinary eateries in Richmond. Over 20 yrs of experience at Punch Lane has been carried over to Saint.Urban, and the results speak for themselves. Two thumbs up from me, and I can't wait to go back!

- D

Such a wonderful meal enjoyed by my partner and I. The food and service were on point. So glad we finally made a booking here. Looking forward to coming back. Thank you

What a great local! From the owners of the infamous Punch Lane, this restaurant finally brings a stylish eating experience to Richmond. Lots of thought and time has been put into this establishment and it's paid off. Great menu, wine list, and the interior is urban cool. Love this place. Our favourites: sticky lamb ribs, haloumi with wild figs, pork loin, & the barramundi fillet. Every dish was a winner, and to finish it off we ordered the old favourite - Affogato with vanilla bean ice-cream and your choice of liqueur. We'll be back - this was definitely a crowd pleaser.

bistro french-esk. got to love it when its pulled off well. The place has a quiet relaxed vibe like you've wondered down a french back alley where the local eat.

Very attentive, knowledgeable wait staff who always make sure your glass is topped up (Tip - grab the sparkling water, its about $4 per person for the whole meal).

A share lunch that included the Sheep Haloumi; Burrata, Sticky lamb ribs; Charcuterie plate:Thrice cooked Dobsons chips; Charred broccolini, Panfried ricotta gnocchi, and a Cheese Plate Selection

Bought out a few dishes at a time over a long lunch. I dont really have many notes (or pics) on this one as I was too busy enjoying the company and the food. The food is fresh unpretentious but presented well. Simple flavours, well executed.

Haloumi warm and soft, not squeaky, Burrata was a delightfully light tasty combination reminding me of a pickled vegetable salad/antipasto thing. Sticky ribs weren't that sticky, but absolutely fall apart in your mouth and damn delicious, The Charcuterie plate is great if you love meats. VERY good liver parfait as well. The trice cooked chips were ok but I could equally give them a miss. The gnocchi was solid (the sauce was the standout of the dish) and wonderful tasting cheeses. The Delamere Curvee (Tasmania) goes really well with just about everything on the menu.

No its not cheap but I think its value for money. You'll come and have a great meal and a great dinner experience with ambience. Id love to come for a dinner with a couple bottle of wine and have a long slow dinner whilst enjoying good company and conversation.

Bit of a local wine bar, but so much more. Amazing food and great service. Very charming little spot that has some really good wines by the glass.
I love popping in for few cheeky glasses and some of their snacks!

Went on a Friday night without reservation, expecting to be knocked back, as this place seems pretty popular. They were indeed pretty full but were very friendly and accommodating in finding us a table. Had octopus with taramasalata (unusually done with squid ink) and beef carpaccio infused with truffles for entrées. Delicious! Couldn't see any evidence of truffle but the aroma and subtle flavour was unmistakable. Main was barramundi on a bed of freekah salad and the roast lamb. Again hit the spot beautifully, only downer was the freekah being a touch too salty. Lamb was perfect & fell off the fork. A small but thoughtful selection of wines and a sommelier who knows his stuff. Finally the cheese to finish up. Here they really know their stuff - interesting they don't bother with any Brie or soft mould cheese as it is impossible to get anything with any taste, with Australian laws on raw milk being what they are. The selection they had was presented and served beautifully. Overall the prices were very reasonable too for the high quality and level of service.

Had a great lunch here on Grand Final Day.
It was so relaxing to be football free.
All our choices were perfect as was the wine.
The whole baby snapper was fresh and delicious with the bakes leaks on top. The cheese platter was a perfect ending the a great meal. Will be going back a.s.a.p.

Be careful of this place. The main meals on the menu are about $30 but the T-Bone steak on the specials list turned out to be $95. Would have been nice to be warned that the specials list was three times the price of everything else on the menu. Wont be returning.

Couldn't fault this place, kind of stumbled on it, great feeling inside. Decor is great, staff were great, wine list was awesome, then the food- bloody awesome! Very reasonably priced for the quality of the food and being where it is. Very impressed and would highly recommend.

Had a long leisurely Sunday lunch at this quaint little restaurant. Love the rustic decor and the friendly smile of our server. Good wine list. Very interesting Modern Australian food. The steak tartare was probably one of he best we've tried in Melbourne. The cauliflower panna cotta with beetroot and dukkah messed with our minds a little being a savoury panna cotta but in a good and creative way. All the elements were well balanced. Quail was perfectly cooked. Confit duck leg could use some pan frying time to get the crispy skin finish, but meat was tender and fall off the bone. Overall, loved the experience and would definitely recommend it to others! Nice little neighbourhood gem.

Excellent ...from our initial welcome from a delightful and engaging mine host and throughout an excellent meal .... the food, wine recommendations and service were impeccable. All 8 of us had a fabulous evening. Would highly recommend Saint.Urban.

Decided to try this place out for the wifeys birthday on Saturday night. Drawn there by the Mediterranean feel to the restaurant and its menu. Stand out dish was the lamb ribs. Fell off the bone and melted in our mouths. Steak was on the cooler side, could of been much warmer, pasta was quite full of flavor, chips were ok. Service was very attentive. Overall was a good night and reasonably priced.

Cant fault the food, service or venue.
Lots of experienced and passionate people working hard at this place.
Crispy pork belly special was awesome.

Very enjoyable meal here. Love the set up. Amazing entree of oysters and sticky lamb ribs. Gorgeous minestrone-type soup which was a special of the day, such a winter warmer! Had the rump cap for main, with the thrice cooked chips as a side - it was the goods! Will recommend.
North Fitzroy Food Addict
We went here for dinner on Saturday night and were very impressed from the minute we entered. Great decor and a wonderful vibe. They have done a great job with the fit out.
We started with oysters, sticky lamb ribs and the white anchovies with green olives. Everything was delightful and hit the spot.
For entree I had the house cured salmon with burnt orange and avacado. Every mouthful was bursting with a citrus explosion. My husband ordered the special minestrone which needs to added to the menu permanently . Both stand out dishes that left us wanting more.
For mains we had the Jonh Dee flat iron steak and special, half a roast chicken. Both dishes melted in our mouths and were cooked to perfection. We can't wait to get back and try some of the other dishes as we know we will be impressed.
Food was very ordinary. Ambience was nice. Prices were at the top end. My partner and I both felt a bit unwell after the food. I would not recommend going to this place.

We visited Saint Urban on Saturday night, I really like the interior, it's like a little Italian restaurant you'd find tucked away in an alleyway! We started with the Sheeps halomui with raisins, it was delicious! We also at the sticky ribs and the octopus with chorizo, both were really good. I also had the king prawn, it was the only thing that was a bit of let down, it was just a bit plain me. For main I had the Spaghettini, pichhi pacchi, Qld spanner crab & lemon. It was awesome, I love spanner crab.

came here for a birthday dinner about a month back and really liked this place. the atmosphere is very nice and the wait staff that served us was extremely friendly. the food were overall amazing in quality and the price wasn't too bad for a somewhat formal dining restaurant. would recommend.

From the good people that brought us Punch Lane comes Saint Urban. Love the atmosphere, the decor and the open kitchen and bar. I actually prefer this setting to the more sardined feel of Punch Lane (which by the way is one of my fav restaurants in Melbourne).

Friendly. Efficient. Service staff were on point.

Do try the grilled ocotpus and the confit duck leg. Georgeous. Delish. Yummo! Finish off with their creme brulee and some Pedro Ximenez and your night is made! Pricing is also fairly reasonable.

Overall, love this place and will be back. Highly recommended!

DO: The sticky lamb ribs. The haloumi and figs. The pork loin and finish off with their affogato. If none of that tickles your fancy, choose the Feed Me Menu for $58- great value.

DON'T: Drive. The wine list is fantastic.

TIP: If it's a nice warm night, make a booking and request for a table out on the terrace.

Similar to its sister restaurant Punch Lane, Saint Urban is another up and rising star that I love. Tasty, French inspired dishes... They have the best lamb chop ever!! I absolutely enjoyed their beef Carpaccio and lamb chop when I first visited months ago.. And tonight I tried their fairly new 'feed me' 4 course savoury menu $58 - started w panna cotta w Beetroot (not really my cuppa tea as I dislike cold dishes), followed by lovely grilled quail, fish and awesome steak! Highly recommend!

Ahh loved this cute little wine style bar. Small on the inside and feels super European with the little gated front area (however you enter through the side door down small alley. It's not a true Melbourne eatery or bar unless you have to go down a side alley). Wait staff were attentive and witty (particularly the one who looks like the Australian actor, Noah Taylor), and full of good rating advice. Everything we ate from the chartecurie board to the pasta to the oysters were deliciouso.
Minda Barley
Named after a former Roman pope Saint Urban who is often depicted holding a bunch of grapes, there's an obvious link to this cute little wine bar and bistro in a former chapel on Swan Street. Our table for 6 is tucked in a corner and a little awkward in terms of sliding in and out but we're comfortable enough most of the time.

The food here is great! Friendly, down to earth service. Pate and pickles for starters, quail and octopus for entrees, barramundi and pasta for mains, creme brulee with cherries for dessert. We loved all the dishes plus the wine selection. Looking forward to our next visit!
Ciarán Reid
The decor of this venue makes it stand out as it feels distinctly European with a bit of rustic charm. Great for grabbing a glass of wine at the bar or for a sit down date night. Of note too is that the service is top notch! Had high expectations being quite fond of punch lane and it definitely lived up.
FoodieAboutTown
When you need somewhere for date night I can definitely recommend Saint Urban, whether your date is your friends, lover, tinder mate or just a long overdue catch up you can enjoy some great food, tempting wine list and a really nice intimate setting. It’s rustically intimate with a good use of the space and cute tables in a little area outside so you can catch a few rays as the world goes by. As mentioned the wine list is a tempting mix of local and overseas and I was very pleased with my glass of Yarra Valley Sangiovese.

I was having lunch at Reunion recently when the owner came up to the table next to me and applauded the lady sitting there for her restaurant. Overhearing a little more I realised her restaurant is Saint Urban, one that I’ve pondered going to enough for this conversation to promote it towards the top of my list.
A Chronicle Of Gastronomy
Owner Martin Pirc and head chef Daniel Schelbert from Punch Lane have ventured eastward to Richmond to set up their bistro and wine bar. It’s a laid-back space where you can savour Australian and European wines and nibble on snacks, or have a proper meal. Named after Saint Urban, the Bishop of Langres in France during the 4th century, and a patron saint of wine makers, you know their wine is something they take very seriously.

Simple food, done well. Nice intimate small space with an interesting, and perhaps a little quirky, wine list. Service was also attentive. I will definitely be back.

What a great addition to swan street. Absolutely epitomises modern Australian. The flavours and colours are all there. And you enjoy the food and drinks with spot on service in regards to efficiently, professionalism and graciousness. The venue is simple but tastefully decked out. It is an absolute delight. Look forward to coming back and trying out other dishes.

A fantastic dining experience. From the delicious starters, right through the entrees, mains and desert the menu is outstanding! Already looking forward to my next visit.

Final feed in Melbourne for 2015, and I wasn't letting that be an average one. Saint.Urban has garnered a reputation in the Melbourne gastronomical landscape as the new game-changer on the block. "Modern Australian is my favourite Cuisine", said no man EVER. In response, Chefs in Melbourne make a fair attempt to shift that pattern of thinking. Saint.Urban succeeds.

The sheep's halloumi with peppered wild figs and chicken liver parfait, pickles and toasted corn are a concoction of flavours that just work. Married with the Pinot noir from Tasmania, I knew right from the very beginning that our evening was made. My girlfriend ordered the western plains pork cutlet, braised yellow peppers and almonds for mains, and I ordered the confit duck leg, parsnip purée, cumquats and sorrel. Safe to say they worked a charm. We finished off with a lemon pudding to share.

The space kissed by sunlight overlooks Swan street, and the service is benevolent. What else can you expect from the duo responsible for the soaring success of Punch Lane?

The restaurant and the crew are charming and the latter look pretty happy to be here. A good start. The beverage list is puffed up with its own importance. We were all enjoyed our mains and sides. The wedges are a 'must have'. Thank you.

Fantastic place - great food, great service, great vibe. Small but very popular, so book ahead to guarantee a table. Wine list is excellent. Specials always tantalising. Music is old school eclectic, matching the relaxed, friendly vibe.

A great addition to the burgeoning Swan St scene. Experienced savvy ownership with equally well thought out food, drink and ambience. They know what they are doing, and they have met the market well with a well balanced menu and wine list.

my partner and i dropped in for a drink and we will definitely be coming back! winter it would be lovely as there's fire places and a welcoming environment but i can see the front area and high ceilings being a real asset in summer too.
we saw some amazing food come out and very happy customers interacting with the friendly staff.

What a fabulous place. Great fit out, intimate space. It was a cool night so windows were closed but could see how well the terrace would open up on a warm evening.
Staff were attentive without being imposing. Great food and wine. I didn't get past the starters and entrees but if I'd had someone to share it i'd have loved the slow cooked 36hr lamb.
Best dish was the octopus on cauliflower purée.
Kate Dougherty
Great new addition to Swan street! Lovely restaurant with refined decor and impressive menu. Service was a little distracted but thats a minor complaint. I ordered the barramundi fillet with fennel, pickled rhubarb and chorizo. The fish was perfectly cooked with crispy skin and the rhubarb and chorizo added great punchy flavours. The portion sizes are tiny though so i'd recommend ordering a few sides.
Chillout.im
Saint Urban romances and transports you to a different place altogether. Quaint and not too busy, the restaurant understands the importance of space, the balance of privacy and enjoyment. Entrees and appetisers were amazing, mains could be better. Service was excellent.

Feeling warm and cosy after my first experience at Saint.Urban.
Firstly the staff. Warm and friendly, good timing with dishes and suggestions.
Second the atmosphere. The individual touches of the room are fantastic, from the amazing design of the windows to the lovely fireplace.
And of course the food! Lovely oysters, great recommendation for wine, then the piece de resistance was an awesome plate of gnocchi. The gnocchi were perfectly cooked and fluffy with beautiful burnt butter, pumpkin and amaretti. Outstanding.

Amazing new addition to Richmond! Best steak I have had in a long while.
Wagyu carpaccio and carrot cake also a stand out. Great variety of wines and cocktails.
Thanks Pia and team for the most hospitable service!

Went here for our anniversary dinner on a Sunday night. Delicious food and very good service. We loved the generous desserts, sides and the wagyu tataki.
Long Lunch
Dropped on Sunday night for a relaxed bite to eat and a quiet drink. I had been past previously and thought how good the placed looked, however this was raised to a new level when I walked inside. Incredibly stylish and the attention to detail of every item is really impressive. The staff were welcoming, engaging and professional. No first timers here!! The wine list is not huge, but it is well crafted and offers a great range for both by the glass and bottle. Similarly the menu wasn't huge, but what we had as both meals and smaller share options was exceptional quality. I will be back often, probably more for a snack and quiet drink than for a larger dining experience.
Chasing A Plate
Posted by Chasing a Plate in Richmond on 01/10/2015. We didn’t know we were missing a good neighbourhood restaurant until we wandered into Saint Urban on a whim. The shimmering golden light emitting from the windows and the restaurant’s distinctive facade is too hard to walk past. Punch Lane’s younger sibling eschews the minimalist Scandinavian design we’ve all come to expect when visiting a new Melbourne restaurant and thank god, for it’d be sacrilegious here. Instead, you’ll find tiled floors, rough concrete walls, quilted leather banquettes and rusty basins from old drinking fountains fixed to the walls. The staff are efficient, friendly and keen to make diners feel at home.

Quaint fitout and welcoming staff, food was delicious and service quick. Has a range of truly European style meals on offer - the Chorizo/Octopus entree was the pick of the starters and the 1/2 baby chicken was cooked perfectly. Good wine and cocktail selection also.

Despite being early days, St Urban looks and feels like a Richmond local. It's warm and intimate, and the menu has enough variety and creativity without over complicating things. Halloumi with peppered wild figs and octopus with chorizo are well worth a try.
Wow, wow, wow!! First visit to Saint Urban tonight and was uber impressed with the whole experience.

This quaint place has a fantastic vibe that makes you feel right at home.
The menu is just right, not too fussy or overdone., Daniel chose for us, and we had a fare few courses. We had some dishes I wouldn't normally choose, but glad we had them because they were amazing and will definitely have again.

Staff are fab and happy to cater to your every need.
I have to say we were sooooo full when we left, but every morsel was perfection.

Daniel, what an absolute triumph mate, you should be super proud. Looking forward to our return already.

If you haven't been yet, what are you waiting for??
What a magnificent first time dining experience! Plenty of wait staff to service the burgeoning crowd, delicious wine selection and a roasted baby chicken that has left me with a melt-in-the-mouth memory that is still vivid a week later. Heartily recommend this restaurant with it's funky old world decor and cozy atmosphere.

What is it? Newly opened wine bar Saint.Urban has easily enticed the locals into patronage with its relaxed charm, European ambiance and the genuine passion behind the hospitality lovers at its helm. Only a stone’s throw away from the hustle and bustle of Church Street, the venue eschews the sterile industrial look with a warm pared back rustic interior. It is named after the patron Saint Urban who evaded religious persecutors by hiding in vineyards and seeking sanctuary with its vinedressers.

1) Had dinner here last night and was very impressed, which is saying something as I go to many new places and am often disappointed. The food was great, the service very friendly, the prices reasonable and the fit-out very warm. I can thoroughly recommend the steak, sheeps haloumi with peppered wild figs (best dish I've had in many moons), slow braised chick peas and spinach, and the selection of cheeses. I live in Richmond and this is a very welcome addition to the neighbourhood. One minor area for improvement is the menu on their website which, despite the place being very new, isn't up to date in terms of prices and dishes. Best place I've been to for ages. 4.5 stars for this visit.2) (More recent visit) I've been to Saint Urban three times now and this is my second review. Since my earlier visits I've been telling everyone who'll listen how great this place is. Unfortunately, this visit was disappointing. My partner (on her 4th visit) and I had two average, at best, main courses on Saturday night. My steak was poor; a very average cut of meat that was all gristle. I couldn't finish it. My partner had a disappointing Confit Duck leg main which was very dry. Our dining partners fared better; being very happy with their Barramundi and steak. The waiter handled the situation well, offering me something else (I declined), reporting the problem to the chef (it's an open kitchen) and not charging me. However, I don't believe they should have let such a poor cut of meat out of their kitchen in the first place. 2.5 stars for this visit.

Had a brilliant dinner with friends here. The space is beautiful and the food is humble yet divine. The barramundi was sensational. The view to the kitchen showed the three chefs all working away calmly and diligently, a good sign! Only criticism is the female waitress who seemed a bit awkward/unsure of herself. It didn't quite seem to match the rest of the atmosphere. It put her out of place against the other staff who moved through the venue with ease and chatted with customers as if they were old friends. Still, though, we could've stayed here all night. Will be back!
