Review Niche On Bridge - Richmond

Food wasn’t that bad. The calamari was best of the dishes. Steak was cook to exactly medium raw which was great. The popcorn chicken was a little dry. Ordered the lamb shoulder pizza, wasn’t that bad either. But not really a fan of pulled meats

Nice and spacious cafe and function venue right on Bridge Road. Good coffee and service , perfect for an early morning coffee or brunch on the weekend. The function venue next door is a great size for small parties and has a fabulous marble bar to set the scene. Update: just got back after lockdown and still going well. Come visit as much quieter and spacious than others in the area.

Gave me the wrong order twice. They offered to give a discount but when I checked the bill after paying, I was charged full. Very confusing. I would have been fine if they told me they couldn't make what I ordered. Partners food looked delicious. Don't know if I will go back though.

Great food and atmosphere. Lovely kind staff, very hospitable. The pancakes and Mexican breakfast we had were delicious and beautifully presented. Kudos to whoever chose the music, we loved it!

Great place to catch up for a business meeting. Central in location but the parking can be hard to find early morning. Food was pretty good. In particular the eggs Benedict which was amazing. Happy with the overall service and the decor/atmosphere was very welcoming.

Niche on Bridge is very unassuming and easily passed for many other fancier more well known venues in bridge. However it's definitely worth a visit as the staff are friendly the menu caters welp for breakfast, brunch, lunch and dinner. Along with a great drinks menu from coffee to cocktails. It has something for everyone with great woodfired pizzas, good kids menu and the coffee is on point. Plenty of space inside and out to enjoy as well. Also has a function space inside too for hire.

Another day, another networking meeting with Fresh. Today was at a cafe that I’ve driven by often but never stopped. So glad I got to try this today. It has a great space for groups with its own separate bar and servery area. There is also a tv for presentations with comfortable seating and flexible layout. Our breakfast was $20 for the group with a choice of around 5-6 items including s hot beverage. They were happy to tweak the order when I said no mushrooms and added avocado instead at no cost. The main cafe area was pleasantly busy at 8am with a mixed range of people from couples, singles, business, mums with prams etc. it’s a large cafe so lots of space to spread out. The main menu is good with lots of choices. Portion sizes are good. Coffee great. Dietaries are easily catered for. Takeaway food also available. Wheelchair friendly. Kid friendly. Highchairs available. Good parking out the front and in side streets. Finally and probably most importantly - the staff are lovely. Very helpful and eager to please. I will return.

Friendly staff, good coffee, good food and service. I got a bagel without bagel as I'm not eating gluten at the moment and they substituted mushrooms instead and it tasted and looked great! Would definitely go back if I loved in the area!

I am a #richmond regular and it’s my usual go to coffee stop before work. I’ve seen nothing but progression over the last couple years from Daniel and the super friendly team. More vegan options have been added over the last 12 months which is great to see and they are happy to edit a dish to help suit your needs. Excited to see where it goes next and what new plates could be on the horizon. Prices are what is expected for the Richmond area but you will leave satisfied. I recommend trying the vegan nourish bowl! There is a couple ‘off menu’ items I’ll share some photos of (you may be lucky enough to ask for them and get to gobble them up). Hopefully one day these tasty vegan eats will be added to the menu permanently! Good coffee. Delicious plates. Dining in or taking away you are in good hands.

Amazing. <br/>Will be back to try the pancakes because the menu envy was real on that one. <br/>Inside seemed very echoey on a busy Saturday morning so I was happy sitting outside in nice weather. Staff were attentive without being overbearing and we all had a great time.

Came here with my partners family on Saturday, there was 8 of us and a baby. We ordered our drinks and that took ages to come out, my partners parents didn’t even get there drinks until we asked where there drinks were. They put it on the bill twice for the drinks they didn’t get but we told them that the parents didn’t get it the first time so don’t charge them twice. I ordered the stack which was nice. My partners sisters order came wrong also totally different to what she ordered. Not sure if I’d come back again, maybe if I was in the area.

Always a great place to stop and grab a bite! I have been to the Niche for breakfast and lunch on multiple occasions and it never fails to satisfy my hunger cravings! The beef burger is delicious!

Niche is a great all-rounder - we love it as one of our locals. Many people come for brunch but the dinner options should not be under-estimated! The risotto and pasta dishes are consistently good. Most recently, we shared the paella and it was amazing - very generous with the seafood and some interesting additional touches that made it really special (e.g. pomegranate seeds). The staff are always lovely and helpful. They also cater well with gluten-free options (pasta and pizza).

I’m not sure what to think of Niche on Bridge. It’s nice and quiet so a good location to catch up with a friend or two. I had the Nourish Bowl and I didn’t like it too much. It’s good if you are looking for a raw and healthy option but was quite bland. It looked really pretty and honestly I liked the eggs but there was too much avocado! I’m glad my friend had a discount for this place since I wouldn’t have been pleased about paying full price. At least the dish is Instagram pretty worthy :)

Came here for a 25th birthday dinner with about 12 people and had a lovely evening with a variety of food and wine.<br/><br/>Wait staff were super friendly & were very attentive to our needs. What was also beneficial was this place split the bill - so helpful!<br/><br/>We ordered a variety of food such as entrees that included arancini balls and spring rolls and mains that included pasta, calamari, pizza and salads. The food was tasty & was presented beautifully. There were no complaints on the food, most of us didn’t finish our meals due to their generous serves!
Frog
The avocado fatoush salad was basically a bowl of chopped iceberg with half a rock hard avo and some other additions including a few pieces of fried pita bread that were bitter from using poor quality oil. If it had said on the menu that it included lettuce I would never have ordered it. Prawns were good though. The fried calamari was great but the sausage pizza wasn't. The service was chaotic even though the place was almost empty but I'm pleased to say when we did get a sincere apology for all the problems.
Sam Kothari
Amazing food, lovely staff and service. Great atmosphere as well. <br/><br/>Couldn't have had a better experience. <br/><br/>We will certainly be back, and will be bringing friends!
Dam Burger
Came for breakfast and found they had excellent service. Not a great range of different breakfast options but what we had was good, Mexican burrito with scrambled eggs chorizo. Coffees were decent too.

This week we were invited to visit Niche on Bridge. Niche on Bridge is not your typical Melbourne cafe. Even in the middle of a refit, it was sleek, suave and reminded me more of a hotel restaurant than a Richmond eatery. This place oozes professionalism and Daniel and his team went out of their way to make us welcome. All staff were smart and polite and it really did leave the feel of a place I’d be happy to host a business meeting, and well as somewhere comfortable enough to dine with my family. I noticed several families with young children arrive as we were dining, which further proved for me that this place will cater for everyone.

Niche is perhaps not your typical bustling hipster joint, but rather more a family friendly trendy-ish café that serves consistently good food in a professional and kind manner day in day out. The menu offers the usual classics but is also researched with some pleasant sophistication. Servings are generous but can happily be accommodated with variations and the staff are great. Coffee is good... everyone has their opinion on this item but I would safely say the coffee is not bad.<br/>I reward this café for its consistently good service, friendly staff and good dishes. It's always a safe bet
Espy Eats
They must have been having a bad day when I attended this well rated restaurant along towards the Yarra end of bridge. When you go out for breakfast or brunch it should all be about service. Unfortunately Niche didn't do this very well. Breakfast took over 40 minutes to arrive and was missing items which took another 10 to arrive. One waiting staff member even asked us if we wanted our bill before our food had arrived. Food when it came was well cooked but the wait in what wasn't a packed out restaurant seemed unreasonable.

A lunch meeting led to a light salad called Avocado Fatouche, with cherry tomatoes, grapes, raddish, pomegranate seeds, crispy flat bread, Syrian dressing and a poached egg. OMG! Without doubt the best salad I have ever eaten - seriously! Just divine! And it looked like a dish from the Masterchef kitchen... So I took my partner there and she had the same salad with Salmon and reacted just like I did! Loved it... The mango and chocolate smoothies, although pricy, were beautiful and so well presented... We also saw a couple of eye fillets being served to other customers - was a little heavy for us at lunch - and they looked like 5 star cuisine. Personally thanked the head chef and will definitely be returning to this cafe restaurant.

Calling Richmond home for the past 15 years, Niche on Bridge is considered an institution in the local restaurant and bar industry, catering to families, corporate businesspeople, couples and solo diners. Their convenient location close to the Yarra River trail is perfect for a brunch after a long walk or ride, as well as a quiet and intimate dinner venue in this discreet end of Bridge Road.
Penguineats
Niche on Bridge is a modern all-day eatery that dishes out enjoyable dishes for the Richmond and Bridge Road locals. While not overly adventurous, the menu provides an interesting and creative Mediterranean twist to traditional staples. Coupled with the fresh, quality ingredients and good execution, you’ve definitely got yourself a decent feed at an affordable price.

Spacious environment for a group. We meet regularly here for brunch. The attraction is that we as a group can have the option of breakfast or lunch st the 11:30 time. Drink coffee or something stronger. Having said that the meal options are varied and good. Eggs lots of ways for breakfast and nice options for lunch.
Good Food Good Mood
My was this an oily mess I did not care for. It was the gluten free breakfast which I chose not because I'm gluten feee but because all of the elements sounded good. Sounded being the operative word. Ocean trout gravlax (SOOO MUCH SALT must have cured it in the ocean), poached eggs, avocado, hash browns (way more oil than potato going on) and salsa verde. Shoulda coulda woulda gone somewhere else

I was beginning to become skeptical towards the oft-touted cafe culture of Melbourne. My visit to Niche on Bridge in the heart of Richmond revitalised such lost ambitions, the city (for me atleast) once again holds a magical culinary auror. I will spend the rest of my summer probing the alleyways and cobblestone lined suburbs for the next mind bending Eggs Benny.

An amazing Cafe, with a beautiful minimalistic modern decor. The staff was exceptional and tended to our every need, the food was quick, delicious and looked beautiful. Would strongly recommend Melbourne's Niche on Bridge.

Fantastic. A wonderful cafe located in the heart of Melbourne. Sporting a minimalistic modern decor it was the perfect way to start 2017. The staff was extremely competent, helpful yet non-intrusive. The blueberry pancakes with strawberry cream was heaven. Light, fluffy and astoundingly flavourful. Pancakes can often be a hit or miss dish and at Niche on Bridge it is undoubtedly a hit.
@twogoodtoresist
We loved checking out this restaurant yesterday! Serving breakfast, lunch and dinner 7 days a week- there's no reason not to visit! We had the mushroom dish with avo added (so necessary and so delicious... and how pretty?!) as well as the Mexican chili scrambled eggs served in a delicious fresh tortilla with avo smash, corn and a rocket salad - filling and tasty!! We loved the coffee and they currently have a special on fresh OJ- just 3.50$!! The pancakes for dessert were fantastic too- blueberry pancakes with strawberry cream, goji berries and another few yummies! You seriously have no reason not to visit niche!
Cheeseburger Anyone? "Where's The Sauce"?
Had a function here. Nice cosy room.<br/>Ate one of the apitisers. Those long prawn pastry things! They were delicious! <br/>Entree shared some arancini and meatballs. Arancini was great meatballs were raw.<br/>Main i had chicken. Not bad. Crispy skin. Juicy. But wasnt a fan of the risoni salad! Churros for desert. Again not a huge fan. Didn't like like chocolate cheap syrup that they came with. <br/>

Breakfast was amazing. Not only presentable but fantastic flavours at excellent prices. The hash brown is amazing!! The juice I recommend ordering man size as the regular won't be enough to satisfy your needs. Excellent service, staff are very accommodating and happy to make additions to the menu.

Service was attentive, the food wasn't bad wasn't anything to rave over kinda nor here nor there! <br/>The venue itself was about the same. Wouldn't rush back but also wouldn't cancel it out.

Giving a 2 for good service but salad was pathetic! I don't know if it was because it was takeaway but just looked and tasted like a little container of rabbit food for $17 - that's not including protein. There was more weight in the liquid sitting at the bottom. A few iceberg lettuce leaves & some grapes is just not good enough sorry.

Went to Niche as was in the area. I had just what I needed - a big salad (superfood salad with grilled salmon) and a fresh cold pressed juice. The salad was good and satisfying but nothing overly special. The juice was very good. Service was friendly & efficient. Atmosphere is a bit cold/nothing special - big place, industrial design on bridge road.. Not cosy or romantic! I wouldn't go out of my way to come here but for a quick lunch on my own it was perfectly satisfying.

Niche is a nice little local for me. Everything you'd expect on a Melbourne menu but nothing overly exciting given the area. Staff are always nice but the atmosphere is a bit lacking - perhaps because it is such a big place. Seems to have a more wintery vibe. Pancakes are great, ginger is a nice addition. The hashbrown is brilliant too, so so good.
Renata
I have been to niche a few times now, and every time the staff are extremely friendly and personable which is a big factor in deciding which cafe to go too.<br/>The coffee is great, and the food menu is extensive which always makes it harder to decide what to order. I tend to have the porridge which is very yummy, however all the meals that I have seen look yum. It's not become a local.
TresHungry
We came here for brunch in a large group. The cafe is spacious and very comfortable. The dishes we ordered had impeccable presentation. I don't think I've ever seen eggs poached so perfectly before! I ordered the big breakfast, which included some very tasty black pudding.

After visiting here for take away coffee and juice a few weeks ago we thought we would go back for breaky as it was really nice. Breakfast was pretty good, took us a while to get served but after that service was good. Food was pretty good, probably 7/10 the bacon was beautiful and the eggs were pretty good, but the juice we got had WAY to much ginger in it, and coffee was not as good as last time. Overall a good place
Sue Blennerhassett
We enjoyed our meal here, food was delicious, service was very good.<br/>There was a good selection on the menu.<br/>Owner was friendly and we had a nice chat as we were leaving.
Dddn
The food looks amazing and I can't wait for Sunday brunch. I hear the owners are very friendly and accommodating. My first dish will be the pancakes!
FatGuy In A SkinnyGuy's Body
Funny place, a little stripped of the typically cosy atmosphere we're used to in melbourne. I'll admit we only grabbed wine and dessert though everything was tasteful, and Jackson (owner?) was very attentive (and apologetic, he brought out the wrong dessert). I'll come back for the burgers
Annie Haak
Lovely find - we were on bridge road and we stumbled across this cafe. Very spacious and welcoming. Ordered the blueberry and ginger pancakes and extra bacon. I was pleasantly surprised, beautifully presented. I was worried the ginger would be too overpowering but it wasnt. My partner ordered the toasties which he also enjoyed. The food came out faster than we expected, didnt have to wait too long. It was $45 including drinks which was quite reasonable. If your in the area, worth a visit
Brian Martin Hempenstall
Been here for breakfast, Lunch and Dinner. Everything on the menu is great. Service is excellent and that's why we always come back again. Best spot on Bridge Road. You must go!
Nachoworm
The service here is 10/10 but the food is 4/10. It is a great place to come and have a glass of wine or 4. The only thing I recommend is the eggplant chips which are pretty good.
Stuck In Transit
Unfortunately the food was the downfall of our visit. We started the night with a beautiful bottle of red, which was one of their most expensive ones at only $65. From there, things went downhill from the entree to main and even dessert. We started with ‘Warm mixed Olives’ which were marinated in an orange, chilli and thyme mixture. This was also presented on the same board as the ‘Smoked Eggplant & Potato Croquettes’ , served with feta and Parmesan, topped with tahini yoghurt and toasted pine nuts. The Croquettes were still completely frozen in the centre, which meant this was the first time we have ever sent anything back to the kitchen. Once our second batch returned, they were enjoyed quickly before our mains arrived.
David Kelly
Generous servings of fabulous food, and the service was attentive without being obtrusive.

Just had celebrated my 21st at Niche and it was a pleasant experience booking the function room at Niche. Good range of affordable canapés to pick from. Venue set up was perfect for 70+ crowd with appropriate amount of seating, standing room, bar staff Jackson and events manager Michelle were approachable and helpful with making my birthday a successful one.

Came in for dinner and will be back. Relatively cheap and cheerful ! Friendly genuine service and delicious pizzas. Highly recommend !

Had a fantastic Mothers Day lunch at Niche on Bridge. We had a big table of 10 but our Waitress was very attentive, she also let us know that they we a little behind. That aside both my wife's mother and mine received a complimentary glass of bubbles and the food was fantastic for a set menu. I have to say for what was clearly an extremely busy day the demeanor of the staff and food was still fantastic. Definitely going back to Niche on Bridge soon to experience there woodfired pizza's!
Thefoodie
Mother's Day 2014. Took mum and the rest of the family here for Mother's Day on Sunday. The place was packed. Mum got a complimentary glass of Champas which was a great start! Lunch took longer than expected but the attentive staff sure made up for it. Our waitress was apologetic and gave us plenty of warning about the lunch wait so we were happy to wait, plus we were looked after with complimentary bread to nibble on. Despite the delay on lunch it was an all round great Mother's Day at Niche and we left feeling full! :)
BigEater76
Have eaten here for dinner twice and can highly recommend a visit. Consistent quality food and very attentive service. Requested a change to the dish and there was a slight mix up which caused a delay. Though it wasn't necessary, we were provided free drinks and when we paid the bill, our mineral water was deducted as well. Love the effort to apologise for a small involve nice and we will be back.
Josh M
Ate here three weeks ago and probably will never go back! I had the avacado on toast with a hash brown on the side! Hash brown was burnt to a crisp to a point it could have been mistaken for a mouldy block of soap, mango and raspberry cooli on the side which was so sweet and the whole dish didn't taste nice! Very much a David and Corrine Dish from MKR! Try your hand at another cafe in Richmond !
Hueyboy
Great value. Regular visitor for lunch. Good selection and very good quality meals for very reasonable price. Service is also pretty good, nice decor.
J
I really want to thumbs up this restaurant as the wait staff are all nice and the restaurant is roomy and not overcrowded like a lot of restaurants in Richmond these days that have you all squished in like sardines. I've tried both the breakfast and dinner and both were not much to write home about. The mezze plates were a little boring and the pasta a bit lacklustre. Again, service was great, and would visit regularly if food was a tad improved.
Dora
Delicious food and great service. Have been at Niche for business meetings twice recently and have had the Avocado Feta Smash both times as its become my favourite and my colleagues had the same thing and loved it. Also a shout out to the staff as they have always been helpful in accommodating us with a smile and great service.
S Fenton
A great place I booked a table for my wedding anniversary. We ordered several Tapas dishes and were not disappointed. Service was fantastic great atmosphere and liked the fact that it was away from the hustle and bustle of bridge rd. Will be back.
Gorana
1990s called.... ....and they want their oversized menu, average food and confused identity back.<br/>Really, the only thing Niche has going for it, is that it's the only cafe in a light industrial wasteland of those few blocks at the end of Bridge rd. and ok, it's not *completely* crap. But there's nothing really great about it either.<br/>Coffee was ok, service was average (and none of the large team of staff looked particularly happy to be there), food was generous in portion size, but quite bland.<br/>Overall, underwhelmed.
Hollystefen
Love this place!. Every time i am visiting Melbourne i make sure to fit in a trip to Niche. The menu is filled with delicious items and is regularly updated with exciting new things to try. The staff are always friendly, and service is prompt. Definitely one of my fave Melbourne establishments.

Niche Restaurant is ABSOLUTELY GREAT! I celebrate my 30th birthday at the function room, the service was amazing, the staff were incredible, so helpful and kind!! and the canapés were a real treat! exquisite! Everybody loved them. Now, all my friends want to celebrate their work functions and birthdays here. So, i gotta say I highly recommend this place. The Restaurant is modern and elegant, the prices are affordable and so worthwhile. The deco is beautiful, the function room looks like a lounge, very tasteful and comfortable and even the toilets are perfect: modern, elegant, clean and well maintained all the time. <br/><br/>Also, You can find parking next or behind Niche. So, that's an added plus, my friends were very happy about that. :)
Mary Baldwin
Great pancakes
Sarah
Wouldent let my cat eat there... Terible coffee and stail food! Don't bother people!! YUCK! 2/10 and that's being nice...!!
Lauren
The food here will impress any hungry food critic, with a great combination of taste, colour and seasonal produce. The chef here is clearly passionate about what he does and it shows in everything from the tang of the apple purée to the pink of the steak. I'm keeping this in my books for special guests.
Daniel Chew
The overall experience at Niche was not that great. Wait times however were delayed as our mains came out with our several smaller dishes together. Something to note to our waitress but she was lovely, friendly & attentative never the less, as well as the manager on duty. <br/><br/>The steak was a overdone from what was requested with the potato gratin lacking in flavor that it was almost tasteless. Maybe a bit of rosemary or thyme would give it the fuller flavor that it needed. <br/><br/>The barramundi (fish of the day) however was very tasty, well cooked and not too overly seasoned. <br/><br/>Desserts were solid albeit rich but it was ok overall. Choc Fondont of course is sickly rich :-) the banofee pie was nice but very rich with the caramel sauce and caramelised banana. The gelato was stock standard, cannot go wrong with it. Presentation was good.<br/><br/>Decor had nice clean lines, a lot of white, felt kinda empty still on a cold day.<br/><br/>Without the discount, would prob not return for the food, maybe for a drink.
Dos Delish
A Richmond Niche. We have popped into Niche a couple of times for brunch as we did this weekend. The menu has changed since our last visit and there is definitely more variety.<br/>Our lunch was a little hit and miss - the veal schnitzel & slaw was great and a really good size for a lunch. The fish and chips were really good too - crispy light batter and very generous. The least favourite of our meals was the open steak sandwich - the steak was tiny, the bread was a bit too crusty and the relish wasn't a great flavour.<br/>With that said, 2 out of three is not bad! We will be popping back in again.
Pickles
Average burger, terrible pizza. Friendly service. Bland fit out
Tim Topham
Love it! Have been for dinner twice and always surprised it isn't packed in the evenings as the food is fantastic. The eye fillet is mouth-wateringly good - perfectly cooked and generous sides. Great service. Good ambiance. Very happy.
Hbomb
Great Saturday brunch. Service was spot on, place is very nice and most importantly my eggs benny and home made hash brown were cooked perfectly. Will be back for sure, nice work Niche on Bridge.
Richmonite
Best cafe in Richmond. Clean, friendly staff, coffee is always tops and the food is lovely. Highly recommend it.
Angela
Lovely!. A girlfriend and I had a wonderful lunch at niche. the staff were so friendly, we took up a table in the window for hours and they couldn't have been nicer, we didn't feel rushed at all. the sandwiches were huge and very nice, coffee amazing, definitely be back!
IsFoodIsGood
This place is booming for brunch on the weekends so I was very surprised when we were practically the only people for dinner on a Thursday night...<br/>I ordered the Eggplant Chips and Avocado Fatouche Salad with cherry tomatoes, flat bread, grapes, pomegranate, lettuce, Syrian dressing and added grilled chicken.<br/>The servings were massive.<br/>The eggplant chips I shared with my friend and we got 4 each and were very tasty with the cheese aioli dip.<br/>The salad was disappointing. Too much lettuce, not enough avocado. It didn't blend well as a salad, there was nothing really gelling it together to you kinda had to eat the different ingredients separately... and as my shallow plate bowl was overflowing with lettuce, I was making a mess.<br/>Also, unfortunately my grilled chicken was burnt and tasted like charcoal.<br/>I really wanted it to be good but frankly, it wasn't.

Friendly staff, good coffee, GREAT macaroons. Try the Creme Brûlée one - heavenly.
Foxyhunter
Not a bad place,decent coffee,decor from the 80's.
Some Like It Hot
Tad expensive. Went for lunch, nice coffee, good service. Had the croque Monsieur which was ok, fries overdone slightly. It was OK.
Reality Check
Pleasently suprised. Went here for breakfast with friends a few weeks ago. The food was generous in size and was presented nicely, the service was friendly and the all day breakfast was the perfect cure for our hangovers.
Galarch
I went to Niche for my third time last night and again I was very impressed. From the moment we walked in the door to paying the bill the staff was super friendly and helpful. The best part is the food, the pizzas are a must try as well as the share paella dish ! The restaurant has a great feel and the bar is really cool. Love this place and will keep coming back !!
Ash-Dee
Yummy !!! The unforgettable stylish decor, cool ambiance and friendly staff combined with mouthwatering cuisine, make this eatery the perfect restaurant for any occasion. You must try the chocolate fondant !!! Delicious
Thomos Namai
I have been there many time food is great. Visit again yesterday and had pizza it was so tasty than last month I had. Great service too
Chips_Dumplings
Not just for a niche market. We've tried most of the breakfast menu over many brunches and consistently get good food. Service is great. On a lunch note: the spaghetti marinara is really good.
Nick
Impressed. Had an excellent time. Great food, service and atmosphere. Definitely worth the drive from home and will do it again. Good to finally taste fresh produce being used.
LittleMissHungry
Food is okay, shame about the inattentive staff and manager's bad attitude. Not a fan of rude people so I will not be back.

"Best on Bridge". Hater's and competitors need to stop clowning around on these review sites.<br/>Take this as fact.. Niche on Bridge delivers what the overwhelming majority of venues lack these days.. Class!!<br/>The fit-out and furnishings in this sleek/sophisticated establishment, make for a beautifully ambient atmosphere, be it dining, drinks, or just a quick coffee. The layout is complimented by a fantastic menu, diverse in choice and ALWAYS first-class in taste/service. Staff are friendly, polite and attentive. I held my birthday in their state-of-the-art function room facilities and was so impressed, that I've organised for my upcoming work Christmas party to be there. True critics/foodies take note: if you're looking for a restaurant that is equally high in both style and substance.. look no further then Niche on Bridge.
Sid
Gem of a place. I have been here several times and always the service is excellent, the food tasty and the coffee delicious. It is a real gem
Flynn
Not worthy of Bridge Road. I could not recommend this place.. The burger was over priced, meat was overcooked and totally bland plus the scrappy lettuce, cheap bacon, onions and crinkle cut chips failed to deliver what other Bridge Road Restaurants can do much better for about 60% of the price..A total disappointment.
Hungry
Staff good, decor really nice but food was rather disappointing. We had the mezze plates. Zucchini flower batter was heavy/doughy, chicken skewers were rubbery, and the duck spring roles were oily with the Thai salad not really Thai. Food sounded better on the menu but it was very reasonably priced at 9 dollars a small plate.
Sally Harvey
Fab coffee. Been here on a number of occasions for a quick coffee. Staff are always attentive and the coffee is great. 5 coffee stars.
HotBodPizzaGod
Hot Bod Manager God. Forget the food, I go to this place every weekend for a good old chin wag with the extremely charismatic floor manager. He is very personable on the easy on the eye. I like his personal scent. He is a bit short but I am not very vertical myself. Hopefully next time I go I will work up the courage to slip my number to him on a napkin. MAJOR crush!!!!<br/><br/>The food's probably good too.
Bec
Not bad!. I live locally to Niche and am surprised at how few people eat here considering how good the food is. Perhaps they need to advertise a bit more? The avocado fatouche has to be one of my favourite meals ever. So much better than a caesar salad! The breakfasts are also top notch - avocado smash (minus the black pudding!) and spiced middle eastern baked eggs are fantastic. Pizzas and mezze are also great. The decor is quite lovely, they have a great function area too.
SteliosV
Great every way round. Just went to have a coffee with a couple of mates, waiter was very helpful atmosphere was good and aioli and tomato chutney served with the fries were great.
Jennifermccaig
Consistently good. I live right down the road from Niche on Bridge and have been there a number of times for dinner and breakfast. They have never disappointed me. Food is always great, I love looking at all of the fabulous desserts on display (and to take away!) as well as the yummy desserts on the menu. Staff are always friendly and know the menu so are able to offer suggestions. You can have starters, mezze, mains, desserts. Wine list is good and I love it. Definitely try this place.

I was very impressed. I had booked online and mentioned my food intolerances. Upon arrival the waiter alerted me that the chef was able to modify dishes on the menu for me, which was very unexpected and appreciated! I had the fish which was amazing, other diners had duck and spaghetti marinara which they thoroughly enjoyed. The service was excellent also. Will definitely be back.

Great service and breakfast. I have only ever eaten breakfast at Niche and every time I have thoroughly enjoyed the food, the service and the atmosphere. Nothing sitting down to a nice breakfast with the paper on a rainy Saturday morning.

Disappointed, nothing jumped out on the menu, so I tried the goats cheese and ravioli it was bland boring and hardly eatable. My grandparents pasta dishes werent any better. I wish I looked at the reviews before going to this restaurant....silly me

Excellent coffee and consistently good. Bridge Rd needed this place.

Great for brunch, better for dinner. Recently went back to Niche on Bridge, of my favourite brunch cafes to go to on a Sunday for dinner. It was a midweek meal, with just a friend and I. <br/><br/>We arrived fairly late in the evening and the restaurant was busy. The floor staff were attentive and service better than can be expected at a peak period. <br/><br/>The manager chatted to us and recommended a few dishes, and we both settled on the steak with a glass of red. <br/><br/>Ordered it medium rare, and waited a very reasonable amount of time. When the steak came out we were amazed at the presentation. Garnished with crisp vegetables that had the added benefit of being slightly covered in the jus, the aroma was delicious. I opted for the mushroom sauce and red wine jus and it was delicious. <br/><br/>The steak was grass fed eye fillet, and it was one of the best pieces of meat I have eaten at a restaurant not 'famous' for its steak (yet). As good as any of the South Melbourne gasto pubs, presented better than some of the 'fancy' places (there was a potato gallette on the side rather which was pretty cool) . We came for a casual dinner and what we received was well above our expectation.<br/><br/>Will be back for a second round.<br/><br/><br/>-----05 Mar, 2012-----<br/><br/>Pleasantly surprised with consistent great food. Have been here on a number of occasions<br/><br/>Big breakfast great, all of the ingredients were fresh and delicious. Definitely a good start to the day. The service was attentive with out being annoying, and the staff friendly without being over chatty.<br/><br/>Dessert has also been here (went with a girl after dinner for their cakes). The cake selection was fantastic and so delicious. <br/><br/>Both their night and day barista have been great.<br/><br/>If you're around Richmond for lunch, stop off and have a bite. Easy to get a seat.

Fred. I went to a party at Niche on Bridge recently. atmosphere was great , private room was beautiful. We were served finger food all night and there was plenty of it.<br/>It was a great night.. We enjoyed ourselves soo much that we went back for breakfast the next morning.<br/>Must have the egg benny with the special hollandaise with cider, coffee was good too. <br/>I'd go back . Loved it.

Had the best brekkie I've ever had and I eat out every weekend. Most places have started serving 'avocado mash/smash' which generally consists of avocado mixed with goats cheese. Niche's was second to none with the poached egg cooked to perfection. Can't wait to try the dinner menu

My coffee local made by the awesome head barista, Emma. Super friendly and very kid friendly (spacious disabled loo for a nappy change). Food is a bit pricey given the range and competition in area.

We live locally and went to Niche a few nights ago, was pleasantly surprised as it doesn't look that special when you walk past it on bridge rd. I had the Gorgonzola gnocchi which was super yummy and about $20. Wouldn't recommend the bread and dips. My sister can't have fructose and they were very accommodating and modified a couple of dishes for her. Will be back for another meal soon.

First hot latte I've had in a year. Thank god finally a 'HOT', not lukewarm coffee. Been to many places (some reviewed on this site), and even those rating highly, boasting fabulous coffee have usually been served lukewarm. Finally at least a hot coffee, a good start.... Kudos.
Leonie
Richmond resident. I recommend the coffee and the cakes (that are home-made).

I really wanted to rate this place well, but sorry - food is no good. Staff, decor location, yes all good, but food a let down. 2 visits for 2 strikes. Hope these guys can pick it up soon, as with the cost of this fitout they will be another Bridge rd casualty if they can't. Best of luck. BTW all those glowing reviews in mid Oct when they opened look fake AS, you be the judge (who writes reviews like that).

Unreal French toast. Do it

Good. We often go here with my mothers' group. The staff are always really accommodating in finding us an area with more room. Surprisingly kid friendly considering it looks like they are hoping to corner the business lunch and works drinks crew. The food is fine.

Rob and Carmel. Went looking for a bite recently and happened on Niche on Bridge St in Richmond. We were drawn by the open and inviting look of the place and that we were able to stop because plenty of parking down this quieter end of Bridge St. From the moment we walked in we felt welcome, nothing was too much trouble. Attentive but unobtrusive service, terrifically extensive menu with fresh, mouthwatering and well priced food, decent serves, delectable desserts, all washed down with a tipple from a select but impressive wine list. There were various seating options for dining or for others just having a drink with friends, plenty of elbow room. With a decor to die for and low key background music, this cafe ticks all the boxes; we'll be back! Well done to this new beauty on Melbourne's relaxed wining and dining scene.

Fantastic. Just returned from a fantastic meal in Niche. Great mix of starters, fantastic main course, steak cooked to perfection and best of all dinner for six including cocktails and wine and beers....not holding back on orders, at less than 70 bucks a head! Service was 100 %

Seriously the chefs in this place need to go back to school, Raw potatoes! Everything was bland no seasoning, if you're going to spend that much money on a restaurant, spend time in hiring the right staff! Will never be back!

Not bad at all. Despite the rather boring/modern decor, this place serves surprisingly decent food!<br/>The pasta dishes we tried were hearty with quality ingredients, and the delicious gnocchi would've been right at home in any old nonna's kitchen. Service was good too! Good place for a group catch-up.

Hmmm. Disappointment at every turn as a wednesday lunch filled with staff mistakes and poor execution of food will be my last at this richmond restaurant. In there defence they were apologetic and we were offered full refund on mistakes.
DL
Beef burger Came out raw- then were told this is how it is supposed to be cooked. No it is not. Omelette was very oily. Coffee Was good and so was service. Refund offered immediately on raw burger.

Highly recommend this new place! We dined there on Saturday night and enjoyed 3 of the mezze selection- wild mushrooms and goats cheese arancini, baby lamb skewers with salsa verde and pickle salad, and marinated baby octopus ( next time I will want to not share as they were all soooo good) also had the house made dips ( corn, green tahini and capsicum but the combinations can change depending on the chef ) My daughter had the spaghetti bolognese and she said later at home " sorry I couldn't give you a sample but it was so delicious I didn't want to share - and it even had little meatballs in it!" The wood fired margarita pizza is superb - especially loved the buffalo mozzarella balls on top. The staff are professional and friendly. Will definitely be back.

New and good food. Worthwhile to try are the eggplant fries/chips, salt cod croquettes. Lovely champagne options too.

A restaurant to return to. Went with a small group to this new venue-loved the style and all the staff provide great service and pertinent advice to any queries about the imaginative menu.Look forward to relaxing there and eating excellent food on the long Summer evenings .

JAN LOUISE. Love the fit out and anbience of the restaurant. Very classy but at the same time a laid back feel. Friendly and accommodating staff. Am definitely considering the "private" bar for corporate cocktail function. Look forward to returning soon to try some more of the delicious sounding items on the menu.

My New favourite. I moved to Richmond around six months ago and was utterly disappointed with the local mix of crap greasy same old food! I'm now thrilled to report I've found Niche which is in walking distance from my new place. The staff are awesome, (a couple of cute ones) all dressed well and greet you the moment you arrive. I like that touch. And they are refilling your glass of water before you remember your thirsty! I dig the morning coffee girl too, she knows my order before I ask. My house mate and I have eaten their for dinner quite a few tie snow, and my favourite by far is the fish of the day - which was a crispy skinned Barramundi! Close second is the eye fillet , the most velvety piece of meat I've ever eaten, not to mention covered in the worlds most orgasmic sauce. I'll defiantly be back! Oh and my house mate is the fussiest, annoying, most hard to please freak you could imagine and even he gives this place a tick of approval! We'll be back ;)

Fantastic service and food. We had a wonderful evening at Niche… My wife and I were seated promptly at a perfect table for 2, the ambiance was just right and the setting was warm and comfortable. <br/><br/>The waiters and staff were very attentive and friendly and really took an interest in what we ordering and responsive the questions we had on the menu. The menu was well thought out and catered for our needs. <br/><br/>The Meals came out perfectly and the tempo was just right. The Fatouche salad is a must have and the Grenada wood fire Pizza was cooked to perfection. I feel the Nichi will be a place that we will visit time and time again!!!

Niche Hit the Niche. Having recently stayed at the Hilton on the Park, I had the pleasure of dining at Niche on Bridge with some clients of mine for dinner.<br/><br/>What a fantastic experience, the decor was stunning with a real attention to detail. I soon learned that the restaurant had only recently opened which was much to my surprise.<br/><br/>The menu was appealing and fresh, the service was attentive without continually interrupting the discussion at the table - ideal for a business lunch or dinner.<br/><br/>Overall a thoroughly enjoyable experience and I will certainly be back next time I am in Melbourne!

This funky new restaurant is like a breath of fresh air to a previously quiet part of Richmond. The food is great and they have lots of local beers. Even better since its below my apartment! Cant wait til they get the sign up and the place really picks up, they need to do something on Fridays though. Oh yeah and they have the best vanilla slice in town!

This Place is a Must!!!!. I had dinner last Friday night with a group of three. I found niche on bridge to have fantastic service and found the team at niche to very friendly and enjoyable to talk to. My girlfriend has a few dietary requirements and the manager was very helpful and considerate towards her needs. The décor was stunning, especially their bar that we had after dinner drinks and desert in. cocktails were amazing, parking was a breeze and my overall experience was a 10/10. I guarantee I will be back. Thanks for a memorable time niche! <br/>For the comment made by Foodie101 you really don't understand dining, it's a shame…<br/>This place is a must!!!!!

My new favourite local. Dined late last week.. on what would have seemed a fairly quiet night, had a fantastic server.. jason.. the food was really lovely plenty of flavour and a great way to dine being able to sample multiple items on what most would consider a monsterous but intriging menu. However found the general mood of the restaurant was fairly bland and a tad dull.. very opposite to the gorgeous textiles the venue is decked out in, we also found the floor manager to be fairly impersonal and unfriendly, compared to his staff which was disapointing. We finished the night with some beautiful sweets that were again suggested by our fabulous server.. all in all a lovely casual night out... will definitly be back

Went for Saturday brunch on a recommendation with a table of six. Friendly and efficient service and easily accomodated our bigger than expected group. Favourites at the table were the middle eastern baked eggs(spicy but balanced with crumbled feta and gorgeous roll of flat bread), avocado smash with chili and blood orange and the best fruit bread I've ever eaten. Great coffee and setup. Had a peek at the mains and can't wait to go back to try some more of the menu... :)

Niche on Bridge is a great addition to the Bridge Rd café scene. This is a great place to come for brunch and to meet as groups. It’s in a great location with plenty of parking nearby including directly in front of the café. Love the modern ambience of this café as a contrast with several “grunge” type options (which I also enjoy) in the precinct. Great place for brunch/lunch on a weekend!

Overall, I had a great experience at Niche on Bridge; excellent food in generous portions, fast and friendly service and a happy atmosphere that welcomes everyone (including young children no matter what their tastes are).

The menu was extensive and we were spoilt for choice. Not to forget, they serve their breakfast menu until 5pm, so for those late risers, you are in for a treat. First, we had Our Eggs Benny: two poached eggs, ham off the bone and an apple hollandaise on toasted brioche. The eggs were poached perfectly and the hollandaise sauce was yummy with a twist of apple sweetness. The brioche was fluffy and soft too.
Sweet And Sour Fork
The eggs bled beautifully when cut into, releasing a golden stream over the stack of spinach, trout, and hash brown. I was mighty impressed with the hash brown, which actually wasn’t a hash brown at all, but a perfect square of thinly sliced potatoes, layered, baked, and lifted straight out of the pan.

Delicious breakfasts with great produce, in a breezy, spacious atmosphere. Reluctant to share!
