Review Baby Pizza - Richmond

Angel Khong
Baby Pizza had a nice selection of pizza, pasta and drinks, which was perfect for big group dining. Lovely entrees and sides. The pizzas were delicious; thin crusted and topped generously with fresh ingredients. They were served on plates however, so the bottoms became a bit soggy after some time. The pasta was pretty decent, a bit small in portion and so was the tiramisu dessert. Great cheerful vibe. Overall a very enjoyable dining experience.

Food was below average, service was also ok. Entirely not worth the price. Typical situation of paying for the name and location. Ordered the prawn pasta, it was nothing special to rave about. It was also not bad. Presentation left a lot to be desired. My friend ordered the boscaiola pizza. It was VERY salty and also one dimensional when it came to flavour.

Baby Pizza is a great venue both inside and out! Outside is warm, fun and very Italian Aperol spritz in the sun with food food and friends. Inside is a great vibe, busy Italian dinner with friendly and organised service. Food menu here is decent and covers all the stables of Italian food. Beautiful pizza and pasta menu that both offer gluten free options too. Salads, share entrees and desserts on offer are plentiful as well. Such a fun vibe perfect for catch up with friends or even a date night. Food here is good without being wow, but you won't be disappointed. Serving sizes are decent too, so be careful not to over order, although they let you take home too. Good wine list and cocktail list too. Worth a vist

The food truly makes this place. Everything from the pumpkin gnocchi to the mushroom pizza and even the aioli served with the chips is delicious! It’s such a shame that the service quality is lacking. I’ve continued to come back to Baby for the incredible food and ambiance, but on multiple occasions have been let down by the service. Last night we ordered a bunch of food and our drinks at the same time. Our drinks came out after the food arrived, and we never were tended to again for new drinks, more food etc. I am completely understanding of busy restaurants and potential understaffing, but when you are paying $30 for a pizza, you should expect slightly more attention from the wait staff. Food truly is 5/5, I just wish I could say the same for the service!

Excellent pizza. Good flavours and a good variety of Italian cuisine. Lacked traditional and aesthetic because I’m a fan of traditional Italian interior restaurants, seemed too hip and the food lacked a little bit of authenticity but the flavours and ingredients were flavoursome and balanced
Amy
Amazing food! Vibe was great and drinks were awesome! Didn’t love having to sit at the bar tho, wish that was an option to avoid when I booked

I found this restaurant through their Instagram page as it was aesthetically pleasing and the food looked delicious. However, when I got there I was extremely disappointed. I sat inside with my partner where the tables were quite literally on top of each other. We had to physically move our table during our dinner for another person to get to their table next to ours. It felt claustrophobic and extremely squished together with no actual room to enjoy your dinner or have a proper conversation with some privacy as the space between tables were 20cm at best. I felt the food was overpriced for such a restaurant as you usually pay above average for an above average service/experience/quality of food which was not what we got whatsoever. The service was below average as we were not shown where our table was by the man at the front desk and the waitress didn't seem to know the menu at all. The lemon-lime bitters or soft drink glasses that were used were ridiculously small and you had to pay almost $10 to add some cheese on your plate of cured meats for $40. The chicken parmigiana was overpriced to say the least for just chicken on a plate (with no side of chips or salad yet it is a $40 meal) and the pizza as well as the duck ragu was bland and tasteless. Overall, I would not recommend this restaurant and don't plan on coming again.

Great vibe, cosy and authentic The food has gone downhill though, everything was poorly seasoned and required A LOT of salt, pepper and chilli

VERY disappointing pizza. Taleggio & mushroom. Must've only had about 3 grams of taleggio on it. Asked waitress to check if they'd remembered the taleggio, and she came back (about 10 minutes later) saying "yes they did put taleggio, but, are you not enjoying it?" "I'd be enjoying it a whole lot more if I could taste the taleggio!!" For $24.50 I was hoping for a lot better. Leopard spotted puffy crust looked promising, but was very dry and utterly tasteless. Zero gesture of compensation was offered (e.g a free beer, or maybe just a "sorry"). Well, "sorry, Baby Pizza. I won't be back and obviously I'll advise everyone to do the same."

Look I give these guys effort for trying. Chris Lucas has done well with Chin Chin, and his fit out and concept of Baby Pizza is commendable. Off the boat workers give it a form of authenticity, and I personally love it when Italian restaurants do this. However, in keeping with Italian food made for Australia, its just far off the mark. And any half clued up Italian/Australian will acknowledge, it's not how its done in the old country. I feel like the chefs who come over have to betray themselves to cater to the local taste test. They know its not what they would dish up back home, and to a degree, its very hard to replicate, as key fresh ingredients need to be imported. The end product is, a bit wanky close enough good enough 'foodie experience' in a posh part of town which appeals to the trendy. And it probably works. But how do you measure success? Financially i'm sure they do well. When pizza's cost $25 you want it to be on point, but it just didn't cut it. The salami pizza was smothered in garbage loads of pork, and the base wasn't quite there. The four cheese pizza, a fail. Far too much product is going on these pizzas, when the traditional way requires only requires a limited sprinkle. In my opinion, the yard stick for pizza in Melbourne is Super Maxi. They've just got it. Also, a bit of a sour taste, a staff member expressed to me as a casual worker, she received no sunday or public holiday rates, or more specifically, just a flat rate. If true, very disappointing. We saw the drama this caused for Grilld. Its probably not a bad place to eat, but as a pizza critic/snob, it's off the mark with its quality for the premium price tag, which has no doubt been inflated due to the location, the Lucas touch and a bit of the attempted authenticity with all the who-ha. Certainly not a bad place, but definitely not one for the Melbourne pizza circuit.

Meal was loverly, staff very attentive, and service was spot on. Only complaint I have is for the price perhaps the meal could've been a little bigger in portion size. Other than that a very pleasant experience.
Sally Janine
All our plates were empty!. Great service and the food was amazing. Would highly recommend the 'salmon salad ' and the 'apple pie'.
Jon Mabbott
After being to Baby twice, I can whole heartedly say I will not be returning. The service has been terrible, the food mediocre. I’ve also found the management to be rude upon an issue occurring, something I find wholly unsatisfactory. Coming from the same curators of Chin Chin, the company has not invested as much time and care into preparing this venue to have the same high standards and newness as its branding infers. Side note- not good for groups also... the set menu was poor in comparison to other selections. There is no choice in selections either if you’re in a group.
Suzette Khodair
Loved the total atmosphere, loved the friendly staff, loved the coffee, loved it all. We will be back to the lovely place that it's rare to find a total packaged.
Stephanie Georgiou
Great atmosphere, pizza & desert! Loved the melanzane pizza, iceberg salad & most of all the Nutella calzone. Unlike other calzones, where there is too much thick pizza dough and not enough Nutella, baby's calzone was crispy and LOADED with Nutella! The only reason I scored a 4 and not a 5, was because they were sold out of arancini balls but hopefully next time!
Simon Donn
Hated that I paid $6.60 extra for anchovies and they gave me a tin and then told me the menu clearer states they come in a tin which it doesn't. They haven't replied since I sent them a screenshot , overpriced food with self assembly at home DIY PIzza #epicfail

Thanks to the team for a wonderful meal lastnight. The food was amazing and the staff fantastic. Going out with a small baby can be painful but you found us the perfect table and helped us navigate the pram in and out of the restaurant with no fuss. You made us feel welcome. And many of you commented on how gorgeous our baby is so kudos for that too...he is!
Janie Rose
I know you are all about Pizza - and your pizzas are great - no question! I came for Mother's Day lunch yesterday and my kids had great pizza and pasta but my Traditional Caesar salad was disappointing to say the least! Pedestrian and not up to the Baby standard at all. Few stringy bits of chicken and drowning in dressing - really? Looking for the positive but at $24 plus a surcharge, I would say the egg was poached to perfection.
Stuart Joseph
The pizza is bang on and so is the service. But it's annoying to see a surcharge for service. If you want to employ and be open during the busy periods you should pay for that yourself. That surcharge is profit making. On top of that you have the nerve to surcharge for card payments; greedy. Probably won't come back.
Adam Deering
Worst service I have encountered for a long long time. Takes forever to get anything out - food, or drinks
John Petropoulos
Great for breakfast, lunch or dinner. The egg white omelette is a must at breakfast.
Amelia Black
Food was nice a little overpriced , Service was really off Me and my friends were enjoying ourselves in conversation some of us hadn't even finished our drinks and the bill was shoved onto the table without Being asked . We all commented to ourselves how odd it was. We then continued enjoy ourselves chatting and she comes back cutting into our conversation with an eftpos machine in her hand asking if we are splitting and how we were paying . I personally don't think it was professional at all and quite frankly rude especially for the price we are paying for your food and drinks And no it wasn't near closing time nor were they busy so??? We would've been happy to order more drinks from you guys but unfortunately rudely rushed out, a money loss for you guys I guess !
Caryle York
The service was great. Food was tasty but not much of it. It was like eating at a nightclub - very loud.
Bernie Jane
Went for coffee NYE and lunch NY Day. Great service and good food
Briony Liston
Overpriced and disappointing quality. I used to be a big fan of baby but they've gone downhill. Portions are tiny and the quality of ingredients have diminished. I won't be back.
Phil Haas
Love the decor and ambiance. Excellent crispy base pizza and a Peroni Red before trotting off to see Paul McCartney at AAMI stadium.
Jenni Edwards
Great atmosphere and delicious food ... fun sitting at the bar watching the food preparation
Jo Gregoriades
It was good but not enough gnocchi and too much sauce.
Marc Bos
Great Italian food and really good genuine staff. Will be back. X
Chris Varsamakis
Got a takeaway Gnocchi Pumpkin dish and with 12 pieces of gnocchi for $22. I wish I could put a picture up. It was horrendous the container was 1/4 full.
Karen Kealy
Consistently great place to eat always to be relied on after hard day shopping

We drop in to Baby regularly when we charge our car across the road. Great service and the best pizzas we've had in Melbpurne.
Sancho Hernandez
One of The Best Pizza I've had in a long Time Excellent Service Friendly Staff
Simon Collett
Had the lasanga and l found to rich! A bit over priced..
James Tsaki
Brilliant pizza, quality ingredients, especially tomato paste. Phenomenal!
Ian Paterson
Could not believe that i was told today for a group of 30 people we had to have the banquet at $66 per person. I estimated most people might eat 3-4 pieces of pizza each at most, which would have to be the most over priced pizza in the world. I was in disbelief. Found a lovely place up the road who look forward to having us and we can just order as many pizzas as we like. Probably will cost me a couple of hundred dollars instead of $1800.
Edward Manier
Always love baby great for whole family even the children look forward to dinning
Sonya Farrugia
Amazing food, staff & atmosphere. We had the $66 banquet and in true Italian style they fed us until we couldn't eat no more. Loved it!!!
Sarah Connell
Usually a fan of this place but this time very disappointed. For a table of three we got told it was a half hour wait... 1 hour later and we are finally seated. I am usually a regular here but it is safe to say I won't be rushing back. We were told to have a seat at the bar and have a drink and all the while saw numerous groups come through the front door and shown to a seat ALOT sooner than us. Will be spreading the word to try other pizza places before this one. Very very disappointed.
Alessandro Calabro
Non c’è mAle ragazzi ;) . Great food great decor greAt location .what more can I say. Ps This is meant for the real connosieur. Frequenters of non Italian pizza places come here and taste the real thing even if you live in Thomastown or Epping
Laura
Always yum. The pasta and the pizza are both amazing - all kinds on the menu. Cool venue. Highly recommend

Love the vibe <br/>Staff are super nice<br/>Love the terrace with the aperol bar<br/>And my fav polenta chips with aioli and tomato dip yum
Grace
I would love to give this place a better review because the staff are fabulous and know how to deliver good service.<br/>However, the food (which I assume you are visiting for) is horrific.<br/>For starters we got the croquettes & arancini, both were tasteless and served with a side of tinned tomatos spilled on a plate - yes, it was that bland.<br/>For mains my partner got a spicy pizza which was good. I got the duck ragu; a meal which my great grandmother would have turned her nose up at upon arriving here during the 1860s irish famine. In fairness the waiters were very accomodating and offered a replacement but tbh if 2 out of 3 meals were shite the odds were not in our favour. If you're out for a pizza just go the extra 200m down to A25.<br/>To compensate we were provided with a tiramisu on the house. We both nearly choked to death on the mound of cocao powder so big it made me wonder if Pablo Escobar had been in the kitchen.<br/>Safe to say this restaurant gave us something to laugh about and will for the forseeable future.

Came to Baby Pizza with a few girlfriends and found that the venue was spacious, fresh, and modern. Staff were friendly and helpful. The cost for food was on the upper end of wood fire pizza, and can set you back a bit for a larger group. I was extremely disappointed by the buffalo mozzarella addition to the salumi board. This set me back close to $8 and supplied me with a 20c piece of mozzarella that was hardly shareable. The salumi board meat was also mistreated and stuck together, seemingly thrown on a board straight out of a packet. This was a difficult dish to share and set me back close to $38. Flavours of the pizza were not bad but not sensational - quite mild really. Just your average woodfire pizza, akin to any other local option (sadly). I wouldn't personally come back for a second round, as it's a hike not worth me taking again. But certainly if you're in the area and want to have a couple of drinks and shared snacks with friends, this could be the place for you. Their 3-5PM daily happy hour seems good value but I couldn't reap the benefit of this at lunchtime unfortunately.

Ordered off deliveroo and this is the pizza I got. All the toppings slid off and it’s just mushy. Obviously needed some more time in the oven. Please, I’m happy to wait an extra 20 mins even, I just want proper food. It’s sad enough I’m staying in and ordering delivery on a Friday night.
Chloe Nackashian
The staff were rude and pushed us out straight after our meal

We came here with our friends and had a fantastic time. Last time was a bit so so the food but we were here for happy hour and probably drank the bar out of aperol 😂🙃 <br/><br/>The aperol spritzes are fabbbbulous. Almost too good and for just over $5 a pop it’s the best value in Melbourne I think. On a sunny day sitting under the beautiful trees it’s really a pretty relaxing place. <br/><br/>We had the margarita pizza, yum. The chicken schnitzel was great and my go to the gnocchi was full of flavour and not too heavy. <br/><br/>The olive bread though was way too hard.., ! But asides from that the service was excellent despite the place being full to the brim of locals. A great place to hang out, chill or bring children like we did as the restaurant is so loud you can’t hear them! Winner for me.
Amirtha Lakshman
Delicious!! The only thing I’d say is that there needs to be some smaller portion options for arancini ☺️
Flostar
Pizza was very nice but the pasta with beef ragu was a little disappointing. Not where to go for an authentic Italian meal. Great value if you’re happy with a pizza and a $5.50 Aperol Spritz during happy hour.
Debby
Italian restaurant from the same group as the famous Chin Chin. Spacious place with bar seats and outdoor area too. The place feels hip and modern. The pizza is traditional thin Italian style. The pasta is Al dente and tasted sublime. Place almost always busy so expect a service that's not fully attentive.
Lynda Tieu
Yummy pizzas and pasta! Quality ingredients. Lots of vegetarian options and tasty drinks too.
Remy Matthew
Food was below average . I ordered the duck Ragu pasta that most of the reviewers raves about and it was so dry with no sauce and the pasta was undercooked. I felt so sick after the meal . Fungi and Margarita pizza was Alright but not worth the prize as there are better wood fired Pizza . Beer n Cocktail was refreshing
Robupaul1980
Great pizza and awesome pasta. Really loved the beef ragu!
Tony Locke
How good is this place!! I’m obsessed with pizzas to the extent I have built my own wood fired oven and spend days raising my doughs and sourcing the the best ingredients I can find, well this place makes better pizzas than me, it’s so refreshing, I love to receive food better than what I could of done at home and this place delivers, the carpaccio/tartare is to die for. Well done

I don't think you can ever go wrong with any "feed me" option ❤ I was left with what can simply be described as a carb coma.. 🙌 delicious array of pasta, pizza and meats brought out dish after dish, finished with this beauty 😊 7.5/10 ☒

$253<br/><br/><br/>Down the drain<br/><br/>Not sure what the attraction is!!<br/><br/>Pizza burnt <br/><br/>Pasta - no comment <br/><br/>Service - they tried - stuffed our order - took 45 min to eat <br/><br/>Well we tried it<br/><br/>Toodles

Waste of time and money. <br/>Ordered 1 polpette pizza with only one other couple in the restaurant at 3:30pm on a Tuesday afternoon. <br/>Waited 35 minutes for a mediocre pizza. <br/>Unfortunately, I wouldn’t go back and wouldn’t recommend.
The Hungry Vegan
Cool vibes, excellent service but unfortunately not very vegan friendly. I recently visited Baby pizza with a group of friends after reading the excellent reviews online. Reading the menu online i knew that the options for a vegan were not extensive, however was hoping they would be able to sort something out for me when i visited. Unfortunately they best they could do was the pizza without the cheese, and no desserts aside from the fruit sorbet was vegan friendly either. <br/><br/>Would love to have visited again but unfortunately its a no go for vegans!
Timinmelbourne
It was a cold night, so cold in fact I didn’t wanna god out so it was a take away order. <br/><br/>We ordered a Polpette Pizza which was Fior De Latte (cheese) meatballs, tomatoes, pecorino, fresh basil and chilli. I guess this was alright but not my fav pizza. There wasn’t many toppings.<br/><br/>The second pizza we brought was a carbonara, Fior De Latte, Italian cured bacon, (I can’t remember eating that), free range egg and black pepper.<br/><br/>The carbonara pizza was alright too, but it tasted like a pasta sauce not surprisingly lol. <br/><br/>Overall I ok but I guess I like old school pizzas with plenty with plenty of ingredients and cheese hihi.
Foodaholic17
Overall: 7/10<br/>Ambience: 6.5/10<br/>Service: 8/10<br/><br/>Your classic wood fired pizza. <br/><br/>Pizzas came out very quick which was great and were good taste. Pasta also looked very nice and good size. Would definitely come back and try the Rigatoni Al Ragu. <br/><br/>Dish Ratings:<br/>Sopressa Pizza 7/10: nice salami pizza <br/>Prosciutto Pizza 6/10: overloaded with the Rocket lettuce on top, which you end up having to pick off as it gets too much. Aside from that, decent pizza. <br/><br/>Ambience 6.5/10: nice place with low-light decor, but a bit too noisy so it’s a bit like where you have to yell and if you’re in a larger group your no chance of being heard past the person sitting next to you. <br/><br/>Overall, if I was asked where a nice pizza place in Richmond is, I would probably suggest trying Baby Pizza. Nice pizza, doesn’t disappoint. 7/10

Completely mortified by the customer service over the phone. For the third time now in the space of a few weeks, when calling around 545pm on a Saturday night to place a takeaway order, we have been told so rudely and abruptly to call back as they are “too busy” to take our order. We were also hung up on which is just brilliant customer service! <br/>This is clearly standard practice by Baby Pizzeria and it’s such a turn off.
EatsOfMelbourneAus
Thanks baby pizza for a delicious meal. Not only eye appealing but so appealing to my taste buds 😍 Beautifully presented and with equally amazing service. Thanks heaps 😊

I came here for a birthday with 22 people, which they tried to cram people in like a tin of sardines. One of the waiters dropped four drinks on a tray straight down the back of one of the guests leaving her whole back and hair absolutely drenched. There was no reconciliation to try and rectify this awful situation and the waiter simply dumped a cloth on the table. We had the feed me, it started off with equal food portions between the table and then they got slack when it came to actual food. We had 3 small bowls of penne and gnocchi pasta to share between 22 people meaning half the table was deprived of food. Overall I don’t recommend getting the feed me if you choose to dine here.
The Wandering Reviewer
Nice dining experience with friends where we were originally at the bar but later at a table. This place was popular on the day we visited, so be prepared to wait. It's worth it. Pizzas were good with plenty of toppings but not too much that you lose the taste of everything. Interesting that you can see the kitchen staff and even have a chat with them. Always like to thank a chef if they've done a good job.<br/><br/>Everything is fresh and deliciously tasty. Staff were great considering how busy they were. Takeaway available. Dietaries catered for.<br/><br/>Wheelchair friendly. Kid friendly. Pram/stroller accessible. Reasonable parking.

Food offering OK, but on the pricey side for what it is.  Service was poor to spasmodic.  Drink orders were promptly taken and served, but we had to try and get eye contact to order our food.  At the end of the meal we couldn't get any attention to order coffee and dessert, even though the waitering staff kept walking by, with their noses in the air.  Food was tasty enough.  We had linguine with cheese, ravioli, gnocci and a mushroom pizza.  The reginette duck ragu was a bit of a mystery.  The hand-made pasta was a little on the thick side, and the "ragu" was just pieces of duck with carrots, and no sauce/gravy.  Sunday attracted a 10% surcharge, and there is a 1.5% fee for credit cards which adds to the bottom line

Pity how the service is on such as a nice pizza joint, we came in at 5.30pm when its rather quiet for dinner and was placed to a table at the corner end of the restaurant. Wasn’t sure if they are being racist and didnt want to sit us asians near the front. The waiter didnt attend to our table until awhile later and we felt they were rude.

*would have given this place 3.5 stars. Firstly great vibes, yummy starters, antipasto board was delicious (bread, olives and pickles 👌👌) , but pizza was a bit soggy. The ragu was decent and the salad with rocket, rice pine nuts and beetroot was really good!<br/>For dessert, the Tiramisu was okay and the hazelnut semi freddo tasted nice but had a lot of nuts. Service was also a bit confused with our order and looked a bit too busy to cater to everyone present.<br/>Overall okay experience, would come back for pre dinner drinks/vibes + antipasto.

Disgraceful service and complaint dismissed with no resolution.<br/><br/>Order forgotten so an hour wait for 3 pizzas, calamari salad with no calamari.<br/><br/>Avoid at all costs<br/><br/>We are a local business and my staff and clients were let down. We have instructed all to not entertain at this venue again.

Dine Time: Sunday 4PM<br/><br/>Visited for the happy hour on a sunny afternoon for a bit of cheeky Sunday afternoon drinks and pizza.<br/>Drinks are very well priced and it was just a nice environment out on the front terrace.<br/>The pizza dough has a nice flavour and chew, with charred bubbles on the crust.<br/>*Margherita - nothing to hide with a simple margherita. Subtly sweet tomato sauce and creamy mozarella.<br/>*Nduja - love the spicy sausage and the herby lift from the rosemary.<br/>Service was attentive, even though we were seated outside there were a couple waitresses hanging around.<br/>I really enjoyed the chilled afternoon, great experience, great food and drinks!

We had heard great things about baby so were looking forward to trying it, however we had a very disappointing experience. Our dinner arrived before our aperitifs, the ragu was lukewarm and dry, and the salad we ordered never arrived. The service was average and lacked authenticity. We won’t be coming back unfortunately.
Food Traveller
Food - above average - fresh and delicious but there are better Italian places in the area. You won’t regret your meal, but it doesn’t feel authentic enough. Lots of love and flavours missing.<br/><br/>Atmosphere - standard restaurant environment - busy and bustling - not really a stand out atmosphere - tables way to close to one another.<br/><br/>Service - some of the best in the business I even had to let them know how much I loved it before I left.
Eatup
Average pizza in a rather pleasant space. Base is rather doughy and chewy. The below average quality of the toppings lets it down further. Bye bye Baby.

It’s been a while between visits to Baby, and unfortunately it feels like it’s standards are slowly slipping. The food used to be very fresh, punchy and just made you say “wow”, but a recent visit was more like “meh...”. The pizzas, pastas and desserts were alright, but considering the prices you pay I was hoping for something more exciting.<br/><br/>Service was also pretty sloppy and my friends and I had to continuously wave for attention throughout the night because the waiter kept forgetting about us (maybe because we were seated outside?). Hoping they can lift their game because the food used to be amazing here!

Baby Pizza serves some legit pizza and pasta! I ordered their prosciutto pizza (my go-to) and their duck ragu. The pizza was good! But my fave that day was definitely their duck ragu pasta. The sauce was super flavourful and their freshly made pasta was cooked to perfection!
LC
Great place with loads of people, we waited for around 5 minutes to get a table for 3. We shared a pasta, 2 pizzas and a Nutella dessert pizza to share. Was very nice and love the ambiance.

Came here for a pizza in the hope that it would cure my hangover. Pizza was good, ordered the old faithful Margherita, sugo was on the salty side but everything else about it was nice. Service wasn’t great, my pizza came out and the waitress walked away but I had no cutlery or water. Asked for cutlery and got it, still no water. Asked for water and she brought me a glass but no bottle to refill, asked for refill two more times. Went to pay and stood at the counter for 5 minutes until someone noticed me there and came over to take my payment. Maybe it was just a bad day, I would go back because the pizza was nice and they had some other good things on their menu.
Kirsty Haggerty
I ordered the margarita pizza and added san daniele prosciutto and buffalo mozzarella. This made it a little expensive but my favourite pizza to get is the Bufalotta or Bufala pizza, I’m sad this wasn’t an option. When the pizza arrived it was delicious, the dough was fantastic which is a huge thing for me but also the ingredients were so fresh and delicious. I’m glad I added the buffalo mozzarella to the pizza otherwise there would of been much cheese. The only reason I am not giving this place a 5 is because I thought the add on were quite expensive and I get the particular pizza I like close by for $24, with the same fresh ingredients, same delicious dough and the pizza is actually bigger. So it was a little expensive for me because I have a specific pizza in mind. Other than that, this place is a definite must try.

Decent pizza, average-to-bland pasta (honestly no better than Coles $1 a bag Rigatoni).<br/>Over hyped and over priced, good cause they’re open till late, but def wouldn’t rush back.

4.7<br/><br/>The immediate thing that struck Twosheds about Baby was the fitout. Inviting, warm and welcoming. The smell of great pizza wafting out of this joint is fantastic. Owned by the people who are the provenance of Chin Chin and Hawker Hall, this place is - like the others - super hip. The clientele is young, sophisticated and attractive. We turned up here at 9.30pm on a Thursday; warmly greeted by the staff, we were seated promptly and ordered.<br/>The wine list is extremely serviceable for a joint like this. We ordered Yarra Valley Jumping Creek Pinot. $65 is great value. Great selection of Italian wines. <br/><br/>We ordered pizza, papardelle, calamari (grilled), ragu penne pasta and some sides. Oh my lordie (and Twosheds is not religious) food here is fantastic. The meatball and Passata pizza had that certain zing which was inescapable. Ragu pasta was similar. The perfectly char grilled calamari was served on a bed of olive tapenade with rocket. This was beautiful. Even the side of chips was best practice. <br/><br/>Staff are just fantastic here. Excellent recommendations. <br/><br/>There are even piped language lessons in the toilet while you’re relieving yourself - Spanish and Italian!<br/><br/>Go here!

Value for money! With a large group we experienced the feed me banquet. Tones of great food! The antipasto was of exceptional value! The pizzas were great and the cotolettas delicious! The dessert however was disappointing- Nutella donuts were exceptionally dry
Jenny Ding
Pizza was delicious and chips + aioli were some of the best I’ve had.<br/>Only let down was the aranchini and croquette selection, bit too dry and lacked flavour - served with the same tomato chutney-ish sauce as the chips
Emily Stephen
Disappointing to say the least. Waitress was slightly unfriendly. Had a judgjey look as well. The food was alright. I have had better pizzas and pasta to be honest. Overall: a one time visit. <br/>Pricey and in my opinion not worth it.
Jessica Brisbane Foodie
My favorite pizza and pasta place especially for delivery. I have something from Baby once a week and it’s always consistent. My fav is the carbonara pizza, pea salad and margarita pizza. The tiramisu isn’t that amazing but I want to try the donuts next.
Vanessa
From the maker of Chin Chin is this Italian restaurant in Richmond. The decor with colourful neon lights help to bring a modern yet funky vibe to the busy and rather noisy atmosphere. The #duckragu pasta was surprisingly yummy and the veggies could do no wrong. The pizza was perfect. The staff were wonderful too 👍 (Just wasn’t a fan of the Nutella-doughnut dessert)

Went for the truffle season and ordered the cheesewheel pasta with truffle. You literally only get a couple of paper thin slices on top of pasta that had no other flavour except cheese. For the price I paid I was really expecting more.
Steph
One of my favourite restaurants in Richmond. Class if Italian pizzas and pastas with modern flavours. There are also collaborations with cheese curators and other local produce supplies making the change of menu constantly exciting but also a classic to go to for comfort. Highly recommend.

Ohhh BABY! It’s truffle season and Baby Pizzeria have just launched a new truffle menu. Available exclusively through the month of July, the Truffle Menu sees the return of the crowd pleaser Pecorino Cheese Wheel with Linguine sprinkled with freshly shaved truffle as well as a delicious selection of new dishes.

LOVED!!! Beef ragu - delicious. Garlic pizza - delicious. Service - on point. But my favourite was the apple pie for desert - oh my goodness it was amazing. Haven’t been to Baby for a few years, will be back much sooner than that.

Verdict: As part of a collaboration with Maker & Monger of Prahran market fame, Baby are offering “cheese wheel” pasta which looks like the next insta-worthy food sensation in Australia. Expect the theatre of pasta being twirled in a giant Parmigiano-Reggiano wheel to hit your newsfeeds in the coming months. Don’t make the mistake we did on our initial visit which was to not read the fine print about the dish only being available for lunch on Thursday – Sunday. I do hope though that this doesn’t just become a gimmick. The actual dish its inspired by is cacio e pepe, the single dish that I miss the most from my time in Europe, whose brilliance lies in its simplicity, and which is served with none of the pomp. The best rendition I’ve tried to date is Cucinetta’s – also only offered during promotional windows.

You can’t go wrong with the menu at Baby - all of the pizzas and pastas are delightful. <br/><br/>Only mistake that I did make once was ordering the tasting menu. There were so many courses that we had no chance of finishing them all! We were ready for dessert when the mains appeared! We’d already had 4x courses- so they kindly packaged them up for us to take home, and delivered dessert!

I think some of the staff let this place down, in particular the woman that greets you as you arrive with a salty demeanor. I was also made to feel like we hadn’t made a booking which we did. My friends all said the same thing after they arrived so it wasn’t just personal to me.<br/>The food was ok and the service at our table was very friendly indeed ( a man with beard & stash & earrings).<br/>Ho hum is how it left us feeling.

Went along for an early dinner on a Saturday. Was mostly families when we got there but was quite full when we left. We were met by the delicious smells wafting from the pizza oven, so we were sold before wet sat down. My friend & I had the carbonara pizza (Pizza with bacon & egg, "lashings" of pecorino). My friend got hers on a gluten free base and gave it a good review (a place to keep in mind if you can’t eat wheat/gluten). Other than being a little salty, the regular pizza was scrumptious. Our third guest had the meatball pizza and she enjoyed it. Very generous sizes. Service was a little slow but they do split the bill which is a massive bonus.

After a test drive at the Tesla place we found this little place across the road. Beautiful place and nice decors. We only just wanted a coffee but was captivated by the by a stack of cheese looking dish. We found it to be the Parmesan Crusted Polenta Chips. Great taste, a little heavy so we'd recommend to share. Coffee was good. This place is a nice place to chill. Items are a little on the pricey side though.

Pasta was so great here ✔️✔️✔️ loved the flavors & my husband said he really liked the pizza as well. I got super confused booking the table on Zomato tho as they don’t take booking for under 10 people I think it was- so don’t make the mistake (like me) of trying to book it and thinking something was wrong with the app haha

I have been wanting to go to Baby for quite sometime and it's safe to say I wasn't disappointed. <br/>My friend and I got three meals to share:<br/>*Braised duck ragu<br/>*Capricciosa Pizza<br/>*Insalata Iceberg<br/>The duck ragu was delicious and the duck was cooked nicely. The meal had lots of flavour without being too rich, like some other ragu's I've had. I liked how it had diced vegetables throughout it too. <br/>The pizza was also really nice. I enjoy thin base pizzas with minimal toppings - it makes me feel like I'm back in Italy. <br/>The iceberg lettuce salad was pretty basic but refreshing.<br/>These three meals, two glasses of wine and 2 cokes came to a total of $100 which we both thought was quite reasonable for what we got. <br/>Service was great and the meals came out fairly quickly. <br/>I would highly recommend visiting Baby and I would definitely go back to try other dishes.

Came in on a busy Saturday night, waited an hour to be seated. Service was a bit insincere but polite, the biggest disappointment though was that the table next to us who had ordered well after us received their food much before us. Pizza was yummy, chips and arancini were fine. Pasta was cooked aldente but the sauce could have done with more flavour. Would come back to try more of the menu.

Really nice food. I love their branding and the decor. The place is modern yet casual and relaxed. Food is very good. Simple, well executed pizzas. Another successful, yet very different venture from the guys from Chin Chin.

Baby cafe boasts a funky and modern type of vibe- with bright coloured lights and neon pink signs hanging on the walls. <br/>There’s tables both inside and outside, so you can choose where you want to dine. We decided to dine inside on this night, and found it to be a very friendly and chill atmosphere. All the staff were very accommodating and nice. <br/>For dinner, we ordered a carbonara pizza and lasagna. The carbonara pizza was surprisingly delightful! Didn’t think I would like free range egg on pizza that much, but this pizza has now become one of my favourite kinds. Although, I did find it a tad bit salty. Nevertheless, still amazing. <br/>Can’t say the lasagna was anything too special, it’s your average lasagna - decent and filling. <br/>

Was here for a late dinner last night with friends and when one of the meat dishes arrived, we were overwhelmed with a putrid odor coming off the meat, which we sent back. They said the meat was fresh and it was probably the shallots...I'm sorry vegetables don't give off that kind of smell. Then after deciding to not eat that dish we were horrified to spot a mouse in the corner of the restaurant. We alerted the staff, but they didn't seem to care one bit. Nobody did anything, one was shaking his head at us as he plopped down the cheque. Not a pleasant experience. Call health and safety.

I had a lovely meal with my family here. Gluten free pasta and pizzas are available. I had a pasta and it was really devilish- tasty but light.<br/>Service was great and we had a very friendly waiter. Definitely will come back. A great atmosphere and interior look too!
Hungry Little Dinosaur
I love love the polenta chips here! But this is really simple Italian food done well and with no fuss. Generous portions and love how you can see right into the kitchens. I hate waiting for food and it is very impressive that even on a full house the food arrives almost immediately.

We rarely give out 4.5 ratings, but when we do you know that we had a memorable and exciting meal. Bouncing back on our positivity and food dates from last night, we decided to go to Baby Cafe and Pizzeria due to the absence of Pasta and Pizza in our stomachs for quite some time now (Blame Sushi and Burgers!) With that being said we went for dinner on a beautiful, balmy, summers day and opted for seating outdoors. With comfortable cushioning and a spectacular outdoor dining area surrounded by a canopy of trees and fauna alike, this is literally the epitome of summer vibes. Inside, the ambience is also much above average and has now cemented its spot as one of our favourite looking restaurants in Melbourne to date.<br/><br/>With such great ambience, comes outstanding service. From the moment we arrived we were treated like royal customers, with constant top ups of water, suggestions of what to order, daily specials, friendly attitudes and just an environment boasting of eagerness to help you. There are not many places that have service quite as spectacular as this and it definitely adds a bounty to the overall experience of your meal.<br/><br/>The menu is to be honest, a bit difficult to read for an asian couple like ourselves but we managed to get the Pizza with tomato base, cheese, salami, beef and some very tasty mint leaves (Recommended by the attendent) and the Beef ragu pasta. The pizza was perfectly soft and the flavours were simply fresh. All of the ingredients came together and just made sense, making a very tasty pizza. The pasta was rich with tomato sauce with very fine and soft beef, complimenting the pizza perfectly. The only place that I can say does it better would be Vapiano, and even then it is not by much!<br/><br/>Cannot recommend Baby Cafe and Pizzeria enough, and we cannot wait to return!<br/><br/>Food: 4/5<br/>Service: 5/5<br/>Ambience: 5/5<br/>Value: 3.5/5<br/><br/>Overall: 4.5/5

Great atmosphere dining outside.the gnocchi was faultless and a vegetarian’s dream, however the chicken salad was lacking a certain burst of flavour (maybe nectarine slices, orange wedges even blueberries). A special mention regarding the service. It was the friendliest, most courteous and professional service by our waiter Andrew and it was definitely appreciated. We can’t wait to return to try out the pizzas.

It's delicious here! Been a few times and have never been disappointed. The staff are friendly and the food is beautiful. Will always come back for more.

It had been a while since our last visit, but we had visitors from Sydney, so we decided Baby was the best central spot to meet for dinner. It did not disappoint. We ordered, 5 pizzas, 1 gluten free, arranchini balls, iceberg lettuce salad, calamari and and a spicy sausage pasta. At first we thought it was too much food, but it was so delicious we ate the lot. My sister is gluten free and she said it was the best gluten free base she has ever tasted! Of course my Nutella mad son had to order the donuts with Nutella, he ate them all in record time! <br/>Well worth the visit, food great, service great.

LIT!: I had the duck ragu pasta which had the most interesting pryke of pasta. It created such a lovely foundation for texture and the duck gave a punch of flavour. my friend is vegan and the waiter was super accommodative and instead of letting my friend make a bad decision, she was very honest and suggested better options, so thank you! <br/><br/>NOT SO LIT: Great pasta, great pizza, what's not to like? <br/><br/>Thanks for having us!

Arrived at 6pm on a Friday night and didn't have to wait for a seat. The staff were very friendly and attentive. I ordered the linguini marinara and it was nothing special. Would have loved a bigger portion, considering many of the other items on the menu are quite substantial.
Beccy's Adventures
Highly recommend coming here. They don't do bookings for groups under 8 people so it's purely done on a walk in basis. For a Friday night almost at full capacity the service was quick, friendly and very efficient. Their menus are seasonal, so winter and summer have a different arrangement. I had heard great things about their pasta carbonara however now they're onto the summer menu it wasn't available as it's a winter dish. That was ok as pictured I ordered the carbonara pizza (minus bacon). Two types of cheese (mozzarella and pecorino) eggs and a substantial yet light dough was absolutely brilliant. Sounds simple but the flavours definitely were a hit.
Donut Kill My Vibe
Came here the other night with a girlfriend. Was sufficiently quiet for a Wednesday night (Keeping in mind that this is a birth child of the infamous Lucas Group). Service was attentive enough, and the food delicious with nothing to complain about. Had the pumpkin gnocchi which was quite fun to eat! And a pizza topped with potato and a few other toppings. Also serving great Italian Sangiovese. I'd make another trip out for future catch ups and maybe try a couple other things on the menu. Nothing to sing about though.

I would give this place a much better rating based purely on their pizzas because they are superb. However Baby loses a serious load of points here by insisting on employing people who speak traditional Italian or who have mastered speaking English with an Italian accent. Might be good for the authenticity that perhaps the owners are seeking but does terrible things to the order flow and ability of staff with limited English to answer questions. Service was clunky and even after we ordered we weren't sure that everything would come out as we asked. The pizzas did fortunately come out as ordered despite language problems with ordering. We grabbed a napoletana with anchovies and a potato pizza both really nice. I preferred the potato salami pizza and Kelisi took off the salami and ate her pieces without (pescatarian) and thought it just ok in comparison to the salty cheesy anchovy one.
Good Food Good Mood
Baby baby, baby ooh. Give me this pizza over Bieber any day. Was here about a month ago and had the gamberi. This seems to have been taken off the menu since then which is a shame as it had a great chilli kick to it. Belonging to the delicious Lucas group Baby is a place to see and be seen and was doing the trending neon signage way before everyone else jumped on the bandwagon. Dimly lit and located on prime real estate on Church st it's full to the brim with beautiful people and even the staff are stunners. It doesn't try to be fancy, it's not fusion, it's just good old fashioned delicious dough with yummy toppings. Prices are pretty reasonable, but there's going to be a line. Deal with it it's worth it

Went for breakfast. I had high expectations for the baked eggs but the meat was very fatty unfortunately. <br/>Should have ordered the porridge the rest of my table ordered, which was a big success.

From Chin Chin to Baby, serving Italian cuisine. Baby is a real crowd pleaser, just like its older brother Chin Chin, you can't book but it gets busy baby, so get in early.<br/><br/>Décor-wise, there's a modern, hip, renovator's hook with red lights and wooden floors. The noise level is loud, but it's expected with all the babies in here. The mood is detailed, it's relaxed, amibent and busy. It attracts a fun crowd, definitely a place you feel like you want to stay in and this was a Monday night? Am I missing something? Fun? Monday? All in the same wowing sentence. It happened.<br/><br/>Staff are friendly and smile to your delight, they might not know the menu well staying true to popular opinion, but that didn't ruin my experience as I was amusing myself working out which dish to dive into while sitting in the open chief area while they work their magic. Spaghettini Marinara was delicious which had white wine and garlic for good measure. The Birra Messina beer is great companion to this dish with its light and delicate taste (wine might be a better option for you).<br/><br/>The dessert was tempting my fragile eyes but my stomach didn't seem to agree, so maybe next time. Yes, I'm talking to you, tiramisu, you looked fantabulous when I peaked over.<br/><br/>It was a great experience, the food was tasty and expect similar pricing to Chin Chin. With this in mind, it's expensive, which makes it hard to recommend Baby.

Was quite disappointed with the food at Baby pizza. Went there for lunch with colleagues and ordered the duck ragu. The duck and the pasta was just too salty. A friend ordered the mushroom risotto and that was even more salty. Disappointed and feel like it's not worth the $28.

Delicious food and great atmosphere.. good location, great staff. Fast pace at times. <br/>A great selection of dishes and very fresh food. A little Expensive but worth it. <br/>
George David Michaelides
Overrated<br/>Pizzas aren't that special...<br/>I ordered the gamberi which 6 prawns on it ! <br/>Yet it had a ton of rocket on top which ruined the pizza<br/>The aranchini balls were highlight of the lunch <br/>Friend ordered marinara pasta and presented well but was just missing some depth of flavour<br/>Location is horrible for however it is in the most deserted part of church street so unless you are here with a large group of people it lacks atmosphere, there is also construction works going on at the moment with scaffolding overhead.

Gave baby a chance as its proximity is close to home. Staff were fairly on the ball but seemed to try and rush us into ordering and then ensuring we got out the door as fast as possible. Wait times were long for food. Even drinks took a good amount of time when it was not really busy. In the end the pizza is very doughy, pasta ok but felt like it was just missing something. Interior is clean but cramped. You feel like you are sitting on top of your neighbours. I won't go back any time soon but it was worth a shot...

Baby, baby, baby oh......... I forgot how good your pizzas are. The Melbourne dining scene is forever evolving and there’s always a new place popping up on my 'must try' list. But coming to Baby reinforced that all this fusion, fancy, creative dining has become a little.....well, too much. Sometimes you just want to go out and eat a really good pizza. And that's exactly what tonight's meal delivered. We shared about 3-4 different pizzas and the selection ranged from traditional ones like the funghi and salumi to more creative ones like the carbonara. Hello!! My favourite pasta dish on a pizza? Yes, that’s correct. With fior di latte, cured Italian bacon, free range egg, pecorino and black pepper, this pizza did not disappoint. The bases are thin and well-cooked, and with fresh, good quality ingredients for the toppings, it's hard to go wrong. <br/><br/>The pizzas were not the only highlight. We also ordered a couple of side salads, with the stand-out being the insalata di fagiolini - green bean, shallot and salted ricotta. It was also impossibly hard to resist a side of hot chips with aioli. <br/><br/>If pizza is not really your thing, the menu offers some pasta dishes along with other Italian modern classics. In true book club style, we finished off our meal with a few desserts to share. Let's just say I would've been happier with another piece of pizza. <br/><br/>It was a relaxed night with good food, wine and conversation.…a perfect night out.<br/><br/>
Hungry
Living around the area, I have only been here once before. So we decided to give it another go. <br/>Overall it was an ok experience, the pizzas are nice however probably not worth the 1hr wait. The girl at the front desk (long pony tail) also needs an attitude adjustment and a few lessons in customer service.
Mandy
We had a table of 10 booked and were required to have the $66pp banquet which was fine. I've attached a sample menu for reference. <br/><br/>For primi we got two small plates of antipasti to share among 10 ladies. No arancini. We then got two small bowls of pasta and two pizzas (one slice each) among and a bowl of rocket salad. We then got one tiny (read chicken nugget) undercooked veal schnitzel each and three beans each. No second main or chips ever arrived. For dessert we got two creme caramels to share. That is it. To feed 10! Overall we spent $1000 including drinks tonight, and left very hungry. If we had ordered what we had received off the a la carte menu it would have cost $600 including drinks. Scammed out of $400 and what little food we received was el averago. Came home and had a piece of toast! Dine here at your own risk. Never again! This used to be a decent place to meet and share a pizza - no longer.

Details: Gorgeous staff, funky venue, awesome location (not an amazing parking situation though)... <br/><br/>However, couldn't rave on about the pizza like everyone does! I thought the potato pizza was average, would not order it again. Maybe it was just the wrong pizza we ordered? The antipasto platter was nice, could use some more cheese! The croquettes were absolutely beautiful though (massive fan!)<br/><br/>For dessert we had the Nutella dipped donuts.... definirely recommend! Absolutely melt in my mouth. Better than daniels donuts ;)

We googled the best gluten free pizza in Melbourne and found Baby Pizza! It was a great recommendation and pizza was delicious and not too much topping. Nice and simple fresh quality ingredients. A delicious creme caramello. I enjoyed sitting at the bar watching the kitchen operate. Good attentive service too.

Great dinner atmosphere. Staff were very attentive and was no pressure to hurry along considering it was a Saturday night. Pizza base and fresh ingredients really make the meal. Recommend the prawn pizza and polenta chips. Were able to organize a candle for a birthday too without fuss. Can get busy but worth trying out!
Bella
Wanted to try this place out as it was part of the chain which included chin chin on flinders lane. The atmosphere was good, our waiter was great, but the food was average. The pizza and pasta looked impressive when it arrived at the table, but the taste just wasn't there. Was expecting a bit more authenticity or pizzazz for a modern take on Italian.
World Eats Food
Might even be my favourite pizzeria in Melbourne! I love coming here for the pizza, there's so many flavours to pick from.. I always go for the Salumi, anything with prosciutto and hot salami is a sure winner! The pasta is also a good choice if you don't feel like pizza. Don't forget to check out the dessert!
Kitschii
Had a nice night at baby for a birthday dinner- the staff were attentive and made one small mistake with the order but corrected it quickly and were lovely about it. The water was attentively topped up and te place had a nice atmosphere. We had the calamari entree- which was nice, bit overcooked, mushroom pizza on a gf base (good gf dough- not too hard), baby goat dish, the spicy pizza and the duck ragu. What irritated me a little was that one person in our party had to pay $6.5 extra for a gluten free base- what I don't get about this is that this is in addition to what you would normally pay for the pizza (regular dough base included) - so you're effectively paying $2 for something you didn't eat and $6.5 for something you did- which is pretty over the top really if you ask me, as it made the pizza over $30. The bill was $250 for the four of us so it wasn't for the faint hearted- but baby stopped short of delivering the kind of food quality that would have us coming back. There's plenty of good pizza restaurants that would blast it out of the water- that said whilst the food was nothing to write home about, we had a pleasant night. But baby just needs to step up its food game to be really in contention.
Mr. Brunch
Had brunch here with a large group of friends. Good food and friendly staff. It's more of a dinner setting than a brunch setting. That was the only negative. Not as much adhomsphere/hussle and bussle of a wknd morning for brunch as competitors in the area. A great private setting for a quite hassle free brunch though and would be great for a family.
AKA
Awful pizza- left it on the plate with napkin over it and waitress asked if I wanted to take it with me. Umm if someone has had a slice and left the rest with a napkin in it prob means they didn't like it. Cheap flavourless ingredients (ham, mushroom & olives)<br/><br/>The pastas and salads looked good- might be better for that then pizza but with so many other options in Melb prob won't be back
Amy Holman
$37.50 for calamari & chips! Are you for real! Way over priced, it was nice food but not worth the cost. Why does the word "Richmond" seem to double the price of food?
Paris Stevenson
The service was average but we noticed a little bit of chatting with each other and the music was too loud. The food was alright, but the peppermint tea had no flavour what so ever, and the Margherita topping was a bit sloppy but I have to admit, the crust was delicious.
Timeroz
Probably the best pizza in Melbourne. Service is great and vibe is fun and young. We had both pasta and pizza and both were so authentic and delicious. This place is worth going to!
@twogoodtoresist
We love dining at baby! Highlights of the meal include the frozen espresso martini, the pumpkin gnocchi and the mushroom 'funghi' pizza! We loved the vibes at baby and all the staff were so welcoming! We will be back again soon! 🍕🍕🍕

To be honest I had high hopes for this place to wow me but I was left slightly cold, pun intended. Given that when I rocked up with my mum, it was a weekday night (and not very busy) the fact that we were unattended at the door for at least 5 minutes made me feel a little unsettled. The wait staff were, after that point, very attentive and friendly. My main sore point was that when we ordered our mains and it all came ceremoniously together after a fair wait, my mums lasagna was stone cold in the middle. She mentioned it to me and brushed it aside. Upon having a touch of the lasagna myself it was, almost shockingly cold. It was then sent back and we were given a fresh one that was hot. I was glad that it wasn't simply 're-heated' which is what the waiter had first said would be done to rectify it. All in all the food was fairly tasty and I would come back.
The Broneills
Great pizza and pasta, another win from the Lucas group. But the staff here could use some training in courtesy and customer service - had several experiences with rude/arrogant hosts & wait staff ruins the experience of the awesome food.
Matt Rollo
Service is really good... but it is just a little pricey for Italian food. I'd be happier driving down to Lygon street for better prices and more generous portions!
Milla Vanilla
Worked out to be $42pp for 2 pizza slices, few strands of duck ragu pasta, a tablespoon of gnocchi, spoonfuls of apple crumble and a glass of spritz. Wowza. Food was split among 4 and yes, we did leave with a full tummy but felt it was overpriced. Good, not great..
Jade Kidd
Had heard great things about this place but sadly it just didn't live up to my expectations. Service was slow. Had to ask many times for some water for the table. Pizza was good but not amazing.
Li-La
Big place with lots of space but often busy. Modern/trendy decor - nice but nothing really special. Music is way too loud. Service - quick & efficient but not very friendly. Pizzas are good.
MandyToorak
Uhhh, just a bit weird? It's a pizza place with a damn bouncer. Pizzas here are on the expensive and "smaller" side. Options are ectually great though, with the njuda pizza quite rare in Melbourne and one of the only times I have seen this spreadable salumi in a permanent position on a pizza menu. <br/><br/>But yeah, I just can't dig it here. Come here for a date if they're the younger type, but don't expect to please the in laws because this place is not for them. <br/>
Laura Jayne
I did not dine in at this restaurant, but order take away on a very hungover Sunday. <br/>The pizza was okay, nothing to rave about. My girlfriend and I shared a pizza, we both thought it tasted quite bland (this could be due to being hungover however). In my opinion, other pizza restaurants in the surrounding suburbs do a tastier pizza at the same price.
Coby Boatman
Ordered the prawn pizza take away. The pizza as a whole wasn't anything special. The prawns were well cooked and complimented the dish well but would not hurry back here.
Bbhood85
This place is overrated, after hearing soo much hype about the food from the missus and colleagues i decided to try this place out. sooo disappointed, all the food was way too salty, the sweetness of the tomatoes tomato in beef ragu was lost in about half the tin of salt they must've put in the sauce and the sausage toppings on the pizza were pretty flavourless (apart from salty) and stingy, on the upside the pizza base was nice on par with any other decent pizzaria i've been to i.e doc, giant steps or gradii<br/><br/>cool interior though, staff were a bit blur.
Ari.H
I'll start off by saying that the food was good, but that didn't quite cut it when looking at our overall experience here. We came as a group of 3 at 7pm on a Saturday night and were told there was a 30 minute wait for a table inside, we asked if we could sit outside and then be moved inside when a table is free and were told "no once you're outside you've committed to being outside". So we sat outside, enjoyed our food and the service was good, however, throughout our 2 hours being there we witnessed two different groups being moved from their outside table onto an inside table - VERY inconsistent and we were annoyed to say the least. Additionally, when it came time to pay the bill, there was a 1.25% surcharge for paying on card, despite the fact our bill came to over $90. I understand if there is a surcharge for payments under $20 or $10 made by card, but  I think it's sad and greedy to have a surcharge for all card payments. Won't be coming back.
#alwayshungry
Horrible horrible service. We arrived at 8pm on a Tuesday night. The waiters all ignored us whilst we waited for a table, finally we asked a waiter if we could sit down. Arrogant waiters didn't bother serving us menus after sitting there for 30 minutes. We left.
Gerd
Baby, it's popular. I think the same people own Kong and Chin Chin, so the same rule applies, no booking. We 3 turned up at 6:30 on Saturday evening. Table inside was one of a few left available, service initially prompt, were served water and drinks then were left alone....perhaps too long, flagged a waiter down and ordered a very good GF margarita. It's very noisy despite baffles in ceiling and there are lots of hard surfaces bouncing the sound around. The mains were Crumbed Veal, Beef Cheek and Pork Cutlet. I'm typing this and am pretty unexcited about the memory of the meal. Food cooked well. Nice taste. Partly competent service. I'd like to be clearer however, I'm left with the sense we'd visited a popular restaurant but I don't think we'll be back and for the life of me I can't tell you why.

Nice place to go if you're in the mood for Italian. Super friendly staff with plenty of dishes to choose from. The food is top notch and also a great place to go with one other or in a group!

Came in spontaneously for lunch and YUM! Definitely coming back. Pizzas were nice and simple. Clearly a lot of respect for produce and quality. The lighting was lovely and a lot of sunlight coming in through the windows. We also got a Nutella calzone with vanilla icecream...left feeling very full. Great service too and food quick. Not many vegetarian options :(
Foodies.and.Coe
Great, great, and great. Obviously loved this place, good setup, super friendly staff and a delicious spread of food thats hard to choose from. I particularly enjoyed the pizzas, commending the fresh tastes and specifically the tomato base. Perfect place for a group booking 👍👍

Oh it’s all too easy with Uber Eats to avoid cooking after a long day and with so much choice it’s even more tempting. There are new places popping up all the time to now get your dinner from and when Baby Pizza in Richmond appeared I was beside myself – polenta fries to my home!!! I’m a huge fan and used to be much nearer but now unless I get in the car and head on over to see them I haven’t been able to get my fix for months!!

Been here twice now. The atmosphere is nice- a little loud, but definitely bearable- and the service is swift!Three pizzas ordered last night arrived at lightning speed (about 5 mins after ordering) and the portion size is good for a hungry single or to share. Personally am not a big fan of having a lot of sauce, and these had a LOT of sauce, but was still a delicious and filling meal.<br/> <br/><br/>EDIT: Third time I went, my friend and I sat at the table for about 20 minutes waiting for an order to be taken. This was after we entered the restaurant and all 20 something staff looked up at us and took about 5 minutes to come and greet us. My friend eventually had to go get someone to come serve us, and she was highly apologetic as she thought the other waitress had served us (makes sense - she stood at the counter for the whole 20 minutes on the computer). Pizza was better than I remembered. But service at 2pm on a Monday - literally about 3 tables in total - gets a big BABOW from me. Cya later 4 star rating.<br/><br/>Food - yeh ok. Vibes - few more training sessions on decent service might patch this up maybe.

Cool place uber cool crowd <br/>Calamari fritte was a bit cold and frozen tasting <br/>Cabbage salad was shocking with very old cabbage used that started to taste Peppery as it does when it gets old and wilted old herbs aswell <br/>Also no acid in the dressing so the salad was not balanced not good !<br/>Pizza was nice also the pasta yummy <br/>But this place is a factory and sometimes the food reflects this .<br/>Service is warm but not focussed took ages to take order had to flag down the guy when he finally got there forgot our starting drinks order with out saying sorry took another ten mins to get a beer with a million staff standing around doing nothing it's painful to watch

I mean it's pretty nice but definitely doesn't live up to its sister restaurants chin chin and kong- it's more on the hawker hall side of the fence. The atmosphere is good (lively, but dampened by the surprising numbers of families with kids who eat here on weekends) and the set out is great but the pasta is lacklustre. Pretty good pizzas though.
Always Hungry
Very very good! Love the place! Reminds me of my favorite place in Bangkok! Pizzas are perfect Napoli style, with nice crust. Pasta was a bit plain but it didn't bother me. Great desert (Nutella doughnut). Nr 2 Italian on my list after 400 Gradi!

Just don't bother! <br/><br/>How hard is it to serve food warm food. <br/><br/>My food was cold and stale. <br/><br/>My review does not need to be 140 words. <br/><br/>Crap

Update - we had a call from the store manager that said he would organise with Uber to refund our purchase which was very kind. <br/><br/>Beyond crap. We ordered a pizza and pasta dish and fries to be delivered via uber. The Uber took

This pains my to write because I hate leaving poor reviews, but sadly Baby was a let down :( The venue itself is very cool and the staff and service are 10/10!! But the pizza was super soggy. Could not hold up a slice with one hand because it was so sloppy. Unfortunately the base couldn't hold up the ingredients and there was no crispness to it. Very sad ! However, the pea, proscitutto and mozzarella dish was fab.
Good Food, Good Mood
This dining experience at Baby was much much better than the first visit two years ago. We went there on a Thursday night, didn't have to wait, and were seated at the bench an watched the chefs prepare the magic. All the dishes came out surprisingly quick, even though the dining area was full. We ordered the Duck Ragu and San Danielle Prosciutto pizza, absolute perfection 🍕 👌
TheSkinnyFoodie
The best thing about Baby is the bubbly staff and simple Italian style fare that they offer. I had breakfast here the other day and my poached eggs were cooked perfectly and the barista actually made my piccolo latte as it should be made! You'd be surprised but 9/10 places have no idea how to make one and ALWAYS put too much milk in it. <br/>I love how the entire restaurant/cafe reeks of sexual innuendo... I feel naughty even when I'm innocently washing my hands in the ladies with sexy language lessons playing in the background mmmm Baby. ;) will be back soon for some pizza 💦
TheHungryCouple
Baby Pizza is a beautifully decorated restaurant. The staff are quite friendly. We were a little disappointed as unfortunately the pizzas's don't taste as authentic and delicious as they looked. The bases of the pizza were a bit thick and soggy. <br/><br/>TIP: If you do happen to try Baby Pizza, Do try the Carbonara Pizza or the Funghi Pizza- we found them the tastiest.

Came here on my lunch break during school holidays. Boy, it was busy. The pizza is average. A bit too soggy for my liking. The croquette and arancini balls were average, a bit on the salty side. Service was average too. Overall don't think I'd come back.
Keen For Cuisine
Came on a Sunday night and it wasn't too busy so was lucky that there was no wait. Tried the polenta fries which were very yum, could have been more generous with the dipping sauces though. The duck ragu tagliatelle was also very delicious. Would definitely recommend coming here if you're after a carb load!

Great and intimate venue. We were pleasantly surprised when we arrived and got a table for 2 straight away on a Sunday night. Waitresses were a little slow to serve but still friendly. Food came out in a reasonable time. Calamari was cooked well with a nice sauce and salad to go with it.

Same as Chin Chin and Kong BBQ, these guys also don't get bookings which makes it a bit hard to go to if you want to plan your night ahead. Food is nice, pizzas have thing crust and generous toppings. Great vibe, specially on a summer evening if you get a seat outside and get to watch the crowd on church street walking past. Staff are professional and friendly.

Baby Pizza has a great vibe, it's casual dining fit for a quick bite or dinner with the family. It can get busy, as do most places that don't offer bookings for small groups. The service can be slow, we had to get the attention of our waiter to order after sitting idly for 20 minutes. I would definitely recommend the wild boar ragu with the fried gnocchi, I think about that meal on cold hungry days. It's hearty, flavoursome and the fact that the gnocchi is fried adds another level of deliciousness. The prices are a bit steep in my opinion for the portion sizing.

On what felt like one of the first drizzly, cool evenings of Autumn, Baby was a warm cozy retreat. Service from start to end was stellar. We didn't have a booking, and they apologetically led us to the only seats available - at the bench overlooking the kitchen and pass (one of my favourite places in a restaurant!). Food was hearty and decent (the pasta & dessert in particular were lovely) and if there were leftovers, it is only because I couldn't help myself and over ordered. Would definitely want to try again.

Unfortunately they don't take bookings at Baby even for large groups which surprised me. Be sure to get here early as the place fills up pretty quickly and I've heard of people waiting an hour or so for a table. The only way you can book is to take their feed me option. Around $66 per head you get the set menu and can secure a table this way. <br/>Don't get there too late if you don't plan to take the feed me option. We arrived at 5:30 and were lucky to get a table for 7. <br/>A must for starters is their calamari. Fresh, tender and succulent. <br/>All the pastas we ordered hit the spot. The standouts would have to be:<br/>Duck Ragu<br/>Orecchiette con Verdure <br/>For desert the Nutella donuts never disappoint but for something different try the Pizza Dolce, poached pear, nought ice-cream, salted caramel and lemon thyme crumble yummy!
Bree
One of our favourites! Love the beef ragu - it is my favourite, I order it every time! Their pizzas and pastas are all very nice! The lasagne also looks amazing!

Really Love baby. The food is good and so is the service. Not a big fan of the wait times but that is to be expected. Good place to start the night.
Daniel
If you're looking for a dining experience where you wait for extended periods by disinterested, overworked staff, this is the place for you. The unbelievably bad service is the fault of bad management not the staff. When was the last time you saw your waitstaff not only take your drink order, but also pour the drinks themselves? Well I have twice this month. The management are so tight, that staff are serving huge table numbers and are pouring drinks. A bloody joke... And the so called Maitre d was an arrogant pig. The food was great, the staff doing their best but the management should be drawn and quartered.

Everytime I drive past this place it's busy, so I decided to have dinner here with my partner. Big mistake! The pizza base was terrible and soggy, the crumbed veal dish was too salty and overpriced for a small dish. The aperol drinks were nice.
FoodieAboutTown
I have a whole lotta love for Baby Cafe & Pizzeria, no matter what time of day you go there is always a friendly smile, great vibe and sensational smells coming out of the open kitchen. It’s great for a coffee and freshly baked mega sized muffin, perfect for a little pasta and pizza for lunch and though I have never made if over for dinner I imagine it make for a great date night or catch up with friends.
Anne
Loved this place! Friendly staff and great atmosphere <br/>Food was very tasty! Only wished it was slightly bigger in serving size! <br/>Will be back!
David Food Leasing
DO: The wild boar pasta, duck pasta, Italian sausage pizza and vegetarian gnocchi. <br/><br/>DON'T: Forget that they also do takeaway. I phoned ahead and 30mins later ... Ta da, dinner ready. Normally I'm very lazy to cook on Fat Fridays. <br/><br/>TIP: Rumour has it that they will be on Ubereats, Deliveroo and Foodora shortly. Look for promo code on Ozbargain.
Ray Raymond
Excited to try my first time here. Pumpkin and sage gnocchi was unbelievably good! However the margarita pizza was just average. Could have done with a lot more cheese, all it's taste was just tomato purée. <br/>Waiters could pay more attention to topping up water and parmesan. Other than that not bad!
S Melbourne
Overall it was a good experience however we had 8 people eating the set menu ($66 per head) and there was no where near enough food for the entree, pasta/pizza and protein portions of the set menu. We were advised that there would be abundance of food however during the pasta portion of the dinner for example we had 1 small bowl of gnocchi to share amongst 8 of us - we got 3 gnocchi each with 1 person missing out! We also got 1 bowl of rigatoni with meat, again each of us only getting about a small spoon full each. Fair to say all the guys on the table were not happy! The quality of the food was very nice however. Once we complained to say there was not enough food the restaurant did step it up and provide more food (desert) to satisfy all the hungry guys! I would recommend to come in a group below 8 so you can choose your own meals from the menu as opposed to doing a compulsory set menu.

First off it's pretty ridiculous you can't book for big groups of people. We had 9 people last night and had to wait over an hour because we didn't want the 'feed me' option. Food is okay. Polenta chips are pretty salty. They brought out all out entrees and mains at one time which was poor especially after we waited so long it felt like we were being rushed. My spaghetti marinara was forgotten but we were told 'there was a problem with it' and it didn't get brought out till basically the whole table had finished. Overall it was just okay and we had high expectations. Not in a rush to go back anytime soon.
Grizzly
Another restaurant from the Lucas Group! Second time I've been hear and again we opted for the $66 "feed me" option. Biggest god damn feed you will ever have! And if their standard meals they bring you don't fill you up then they will offer to feed you more for no extra charge! Great food and well worth the price. Finished it off with donuts, Nutella and gelato. Freakin awesome.
Love My Food
Being a huge fan of Chin Chin, I couldn't wait to try this place and it didn't disappoint. The tagliatelle duck ragu was amazing and the pumpkin gnocchi was deliciously fluffy. Great vibe and beautiful food.
Liveeatdrinklovefood
Oh baby, baby! <br/><br/>Heard so many good things and now I know they are all true. <br/><br/>The pumpkin and sage gnocchi was everything and more, so soft and fresh with just the right amount of Parmesan. Yum! <br/><br/>We shared a meatball pizza which was fresh, saucy but wasn't too heavy so the perfect side dish to a bowl of pasta. <br/><br/>So many items on the menu that caught my eye and can't wait to go back. <br/><br/>
Mimi
I love it here! The food and the vibe this restaurant gives! One of my top pizza and pasta restaurants that I rate. Definitely recommend and would come back more often!

Our group got the feed me menu option. SO MUCH FOOD. Our waiter warned us but we didn't listen. No complaints though - Everything was delicious and the wait staff were very attentive. Would definitely come back but not order so much.
Hungry-Caterpillar
Great local pizza & pasta -Salads are great too. <br/>Tried several dishes and really enjoyed all.<br/>Didn't like the acoustics (bit hard to hear when busy) but when the food is good who needs to chat..... ?? Hard if you are on a first date or need to have a in depth conversation with the person you're dining with. Will return happily. Thank you Baby!
Finger Lickin
Really nice out door area. The pizzas are really nice. Veal lacked flavour. Bit pricey for what your getting but considering the location and variety of food and drink on offer it's justified.
DuckieLovesToEat
A friend of mine and I met up here to have breakfast. I must say, coming in I already liked the interior of this place. It was so nice and neat and the staff were welcoming. We were asked by the waitress to seat anywhere we want as it was fairly quiet on that morning. There were quite a few people ordering takeaway coffee though, so that seems to be promising. We were given the menu and asked what we would like to drink. I opted for skinny flat white while my friend ordered a freshly squeezed orange juice. As per usual, I was craving for something sweet. A french toast or pancakes perhaps? Unfortunately, looking at the menu I didn't get to see either or. So, I just asked for porridge with dates as that's the only thing that I could see that is something sweet. The coffee was pretty decent. Cheers to the barista. Porridge was so-so though. I would probably come back for either lunch/dinner to try the pizza as that seems to be the popular dish around here.
Steve Levon
Big call but possibly one of the best pizzas I've eaten and they have great salads too. With a great atmosphere and Italian waiters to match why wouldn't you want to try this place.
@eatingupwiththehannashians
When I think of Baby Pizza and how we do not have it in Sydney it makes me want to cry. The food/dranks here are INSANE! I want to rate it more than a 5 but obviously I can't. PERFECT for Sunday brunch with friends/fam, absolutely will be back! Best vibes!
Fish
Upon entry the place looks impressive. Dim lighting, interesting decor and plenty of people creating a buzzing atmosphere. Our table of 10 were seated and drinks orders taken as we perished the pizza, mozzarella and pastas on offer. We decided to order as a table and share so we kicked it off with focaccias w sea salt. Then a range of authentic Italian pizzas followed. Salami, prosciutto, fungi were some of the favourites. The lasagne was also top shelf and I could have ordered another one. <br/>This is a perfect place for a group dinner or a table for two. Great service and value for money. <br/>
Themkc
Ordered the fried gnocchi with boar ragu. Beautifully cooked, gnocchi was fluffy, and flavours were very strong (and spicy)—but maybe too strong. Too heavy on the salt and lacking anything to cut through the sauce, i.e. needed some acidity.<br/><br/>Salad with fennel was a welcome accompaniment, well dressed, but again, a touch oversalted.<br/><br/>Would have given the place a 3.5 but the speed, service, and ambience made the meal a pleasant one. A tentative 4/5.

Been meaning to try this for awhile as I am a big fan of Benjamin Cooper and it did not disappoint. We had Margherita and Salumi pizzas to share, and both were delicious! It is the freshness of the ingredients that really makes it stand out. They were simple, honest pizzas and that was what made them so memorable. <br/>The looked and smelt so good that I only remembered to take pictures after inhaling a few pieces!
Polly Rowan
BEST gluten free pizza I've ever had! They are quite pricey, but worth it. We went on a busy Saturday night and had a friendly waiter who sat us at the bar until the table was ready. Friendly service, good cocktails/wine and delicious pizza. Amazing thin crust, not too chewy, and the tomato sauce was to die for. Will be back.
Tiges
Baby is good but it isn't any better than a lot of the good quality pizza places about. They use good quality ingredients and the pizzas are delicious, so it's worth a visit it just didn't have anything that betters some of the alternatives out there.
Nourishment Bowl
One of the best pizzas I have had. Perfect balance between a thin crust and toppings. Service is impeccable. Aperols are delicious! Order the fungi pizza.
MELB JOURNAL
Baby's food was nice, however the interior will leave you wanting more. Being owned by the same group as Chin Chin, our dining experience was a bit of a let down. Our waiter wasn't across their valentines set menu, and seemed a little disorientated. We ordered a bottle of wine, which never arrived to our table. The set menu was great value for money, and portions were generous, we definitely left satisfied. Our food was nice as mentioned, but did not blow me away. The canvas coloured, enthusiasm lacking canvas feature - I personally could not stand the site of. I wouldn't recommend taking a date here that you were trying to impress, however would be a great place for friends to get together over a basic feed, or locals.

Let me start with this, baby was my second experience with this food group... First being chin chins. <br/><br/>Read my review on chin chins (was crap)<br/><br/>But much to my surprise baby was fantastic, I went with a mate of mine names Tom. We were waiting outside for a table... There was clearly room. A female waitress addressed us asking if we wanted to sit outside we said yes, a guy then said no sit them inside... So she said go through that door someone in there will seat you. We waited for 5 minutes before someone finally came to us and seated us.<br/><br/>Inside was a bit cute and romantic however we were on a bro date so not quite what we were after. <br/><br/>We couldn't decide and asked the waitress if the feed me was worth it she said we wouldn't be able to finish it so we said we'll give us that then, and for $66 a head we took on the feed me menu.<br/><br/>We started off with some arancini balls and croquettes - delish<br/><br/>Calamari and roquette - delish<br/><br/>Salad with peas and cheese - delish<br/><br/>Then<br/><br/>Pizza <br/><br/>Pasta<br/><br/>Another salad with peas<br/><br/>We were fairly full and thinking we were surprisingly going to get our money's worth<br/><br/>When the girl then brought out a bunch of snitzels heaps of chips and a plate of delicious greens with chilli<br/><br/>By this stage we were kind of dying and I'm a big eater all the time (only 21 so metabolism is still not too bad) <br/><br/>Tom started getting the sweats and veins popping out of his forehead, I started feeling drunk, I couldn't explain the feeling<br/><br/>We then got donuts with Nutella and some hazelnut ice cream. <br/><br/>Our waitress congratulated us and we felt accomplished.<br/><br/>The toilets are cool at this restaurants with the language spoken word convos of the cuisine.<br/><br/>We paid and left hobbling down the street sweaty messes feeling sick! But good sick!<br/><br/>Would put this down as a fantastic experience and would recommend the feed me to anyone who can eat big!<br/><br/>Xx

Great traditional Italian food with some modern twists. Service is on point as the wait staff are very attentive. Feed me option is very hard to get through but you definitely get your money's worth.
Melbourne Foodie Girl
Always a great place to grab a drink, delicious pizza and pasta. 👌🏼👌🏼.
Bignami101
Nice pizza and fun atmosphere. Many locals having a bite and drink after work. I think I prefer Chin Chin or Hawker to be quite honest, but this is a quite authentic stab at Italian fare.
TheWhiteSherpa
The outdoor space is nice and welcoming, the service is not spectacular, often absent. You would expect more from the makers of Cin Cin. Cappuccino is nice, although the presentation is not as fancy as other more renown places. The musli were a good size portion, presented nicely and the egg amatriciana were sublime. Had a Nutella doughnuts to finish it off. Worth a visit if it is on the path to your final destination.
MelbourneFoodie
Each time I done at Baby I'm on the fence about the food. It's a great place to catch up with friends on a nice night but the pizza isn't anything to brag about. The pasta is also on the pricey end!! Overall experience and customer service is good.
Natasha
Food is absolutely amazing!!! I don't know why it isn't rated higher!! <br/>Everything tastes so fresh and like it was made with love. Waitstaff are all really friendly too. <br/>Will definitely be returning 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻

Great pizzas. If you work on or around Chapel and Church you're spoiled for choice. The photos are of the salami pizza, one with egg and the other had asparagus. Needless to say the salami pizza was mine.
Foodie AC
Great fit out, excellent food, apart from tiramisu which had too little alcohol & coffee-,quite bland. Excellent duck tagliatelle. <br/><br/>Whilst our earnest waiter was ok, the service here needs a lot of improvement. Never seen so many wait staff do so little. Saw so many staff walk straight past new customers without greeting them. <br/><br/>Get there early so no waiting.
G.R.eat
For a wood-fired pizza, good but not great. Prices of the pizzas are comparable to other similar establishments but the prices for the pastas and mains were definitely a little too high. <br/><br/>Though the general feel of the restaurant was good, the music was much too loud- we struggled to hear each other over it. <br/><br/>Service was efficient. <br/><br/>Could you get better pizzas and pastas for cheaper? Yes. Was this a bad experience? No.
MrsChoosy
Nice place, love the neon and the late hours. Didn't like the prices.<br/><br/>Pizza bases are ok but the toppings are a bit meagre and not the tastiest. 6 prawns on a gamberi pizza really doesn't cut it for 23bucks.<br/><br/>I can get a much better authentic pizza down the road for half the price, so that's what I'll do next time!<br/><br/>Doubt that I'll be returning.
Leo Hogan
Beautiful food prepared by a bustling kitchen and a buzzing atmosphere make this an enjoyable place to eat. The biggest negative about Baby Pizza is the cost of food; this is the one thing that has limited my visits here. Otherwise, a good spot for great pizza or even better Ragu. The marinara risotto is quite simply delicious.
Sarah
My second time at baby and I was very disappointed. The service was shocking. Waiters ignore you, very unhelpful, food took forever and the waiters ended up getting the order wrong. Food average. Will not be back.
Rebecca R
I like the pizza here and the cured meats but the service is lacking. Inexperienced and rude waiters who ignore you. Not surprised as it's constantly busy but every customer deserves the same attention and service. Will come back as its convenient and my friends like it.
Hung Dong Long
Great venue with tasty treats, but... Staff are like the police. Never around when you need them but always there when you don't. All the ingredients are great quality but the prices are insulting. Too much attitude in service and price, to warrant a return.
Sophie
Great place and a beautiful outdoor area. Good choice in pizza toppings and quite reasonably priced. A great buzz happening everynight. <br/>
C
Tastefully decked out, larger sized venue. Menu has some great options, but unfortunately the food lacks soul, and at times feels like it has come off a production line. While it certainly isn't bad it lacks that something that would elevate it to great.<br/><br/>Gets very, very busy at times.

----- October, 2015-----<br/>Back again after a long break. No bookings here, arrive and hope for a table and luckily there’s a rather large eating area and a nice outdoor space (with heaters) to keep the chill away. Luckily for our group of four we got a great table inside near the bar area. The interior still looks good, contemporary and casual. Service was very good and attentive, although, probably a little too disruptive at times. An experienced waiter will read the conversations and chose the appropriate time to interject, but no real issue. My pizza (polpette) was great, flavoursome, thin crust and very nice. The pasta Orecchiette was terrific and full of flavour and a good looking dish. The Ravioli were good although it looked like a small sized meal compared to the others. We shared a Piselli and Prosciutto as a starter, it looked great when it arrived and it was a pleasure to devour! All our meals were in the 20-15 range and certainly worth a return visit, soon!
LittleMissPiggy
This place could not be in a better location for Melbourne! Great outdoor area at the front which is always packed any night of the week! Amazing pizza, sometimes could do with a little more toppings but cannot complain, the cured meats are top quality, with the antipasto a massive win for a starter but the desserts take the cake with with bombolone as a must try! Best I've had in Melbourne and that goes for both the Nutella and the custard, insane amount of filling, exactly what you want! Can be a little annoying that you can't book but well worth the wait!
Sarah Latte
Love this place. Best pizza in town. The staff are accomodating, just dont bother with the baby breakfast option. eggs were bland, and not a load of variety.. I wish they would butter the toast or even have butter as an option. But dinner and lunch, baby is the best
A.a
Amazing pizza, friendly service, definitely worth a try! Don't go here if you expect a greasy pizza with hundreds of cheap toppings, do however go here if you want a well thought out, carefully hand made authentic Italian one!
Jonathan Barker
Great during the day, service is great, friendly coffee is consistently good.<br/>Evening for dinner unbelievable, probably one of the best Italian restaurants in Melbourne food and service top notch, yes you pay for it, but it over delivers. Highly recommend
Adrian 'El Tubbo' Koukoulas
Fantastic Italian cuisine and ambiance. Baby would rank up there as one of the top Italian places to eat in Melbourne. Highly recommend, but arrive early to avoid waiting (like Chin Chin and Kong).

Maybe I'm too harsh, would like to know some opinions. Should I revisit? <br/><br/>My pizza was average, soggy in the middle, burnt crust. Taste was alright. But a pizza is meant to hold its shape when you pick it up! <br/><br/>Pasta was undercooked, and the sauce was uninspiring. I had the Rigatoni al ragu and it was salty and quite a liberal amount. <br/><br/>Service was poor, italian lady took our wine order and 20 minutes later still no wine? And topped off with a healthy bill at the end!
Sweet And Sour Fork
Cooked at 450 degrees for just 90 seconds, the Margherita ($19.5) at Baby is the real deal. The base is the thinnest I’ve ever had, and is best eaten folded over, forming a pocket of summery tomato sugo, creamy fior de latte, and the occasional rich oiliness of fresh basil leaves. The crust was a perfect wedge of crispy, puffy dough.

Fantastic atmosphere with great service. the menu reads so nicely, every option had me salivating but unfortunately every dish was too salty to enjoy! That is saying something coming from somebody that loves salt! The whole table agreed.<br/>So close but so far, with less salt definitely could of been at 4.5
Cocinero Picante
Meal was adequate despite incorrect dishes were first brought out, once correct meals arrived they were okay, nothing special however. Rose' was quite nice however.
Phoebe Rothfield
I just love this place.. the staff are very attentive and the food is delish. i usually get the salumi platter to start with some mozzarella on the side and then the Carbonara pizza- legit the best pizza I've ever had.. sometimes risky putting egg on a pizza but this is bloody good (A25 take note, this is how you make egg on a pizza good). I also love the house rose, apperol spritz and espresso martinis. LOVE THIS PLACE!
Andrew Connolly
Baby pizza seems to add a bit of fresh air to what can sometimes be a bit of a boring food type. Classic Italian. With style and a touch of class. This place pulled it off. The Head chef also added to the experience as we sat near the kitchen, he seemed to have total control over his people which was very impressive.
Georgie
My girlfriends and I do Valentine's Day here every year! It's nice outside under the fairy lights and they have a nice selection and great pizzas
Johan Snyman
My wife and i popped in over the weekend. what a great place!! it was buzzing when we got there, and we were seated at the bar. which, was a blessing in disguise. the restaurant has an open kitchen, which can be viewed by sitting at the bar. i was fascinated by how the chef's worked as a team. the food was completely delicious. we had a cold meat platter with a variety of hams and breads. i can highly recommend! completely brilliant. the zuchini flowers were also out of this world. service was very efficient.
Heidi
The salumi pizza was really nice. The polenta chips were good, but not a standout, definitely better ones else where. The seafood pasta was good too. Brussel sprouts could have been saltier.
Liv Szym
Great food but unfortunately I was served by an extremely rude member of staff, I think she may have even been the owner or manager which just makes it worse.
Steph Chan
I came here on Sunday night with this being my second visit however my parents and I left feeling overwhelmingly disappointed. <br/><br/>The night started off with us standing aimlessly around for a good 5 minutes which was made to feel like forever as the staff were effortlessly looking for the lady to take us to a table. <br/><br/>Eventually when we were seated the plethora of options on the menu made my taste buds buzz with excitement, making me excuse such an undesirable start, however this moment was short lived as when we had decided what to order, we had to wait another 10 minutes trying to attract a waiter's attention. This was highly frustrating given that we were seated at a table that was in full view of the waiters if only they were more attentive and looked our way. <br/><br/>When we had finally caught someone's attention, the guy told me that I had to ask one of the waiters to take my order (so what exactly is this guy's job?) So this meant more waiting. This became a joke especially as I could see one of the girls who was casually chatting away with another table. Finally the order went through but by that time I was no longer excited for the food. <br/><br/>The pizza came first (the carbonara) and I was appalled to say the least. My parents had to ask me what I had ordered as minimal bacon was to be seen and the bacon that was there 97% of it was fat (disgusting but also such a disgrace) so we ended up eating cheese, on top of a pizza base with scarcely placed egg. It barely had any flavor that I had to add chilli flakes on top so that I could at least taste something. Then came the duck ragu which had so many problems that I just gave it to mum to finish off. The pasta was hard and all clumped together, and the duck was so dry it definitely did not feel like it was braised, boiled would be more apt. I'm not sure why the kitchen would let this dish go out if they saw the state of the pasta. The marinara was our last dish and it also failed to deliver. The pasta again was hard and also drowning in sauce. Every spoonful I took was followed by water due to how salty it was. Dessert wasn't even on my mind since I found no reason to hope for something tasty. <br/><br/>When it came to paying for the bill, again it took a ridiculous amount of time to attract someone over. Waiting was the last thing I wanted to do, in addition to feeling somewhat embarrassed about letting my parents pay for a meal that we all didn't enjoy.<br/><br/>My experience at Baby Pizza was a poor one and I definitely won't be back any time soon. I gave you guys another shot but this time it was even worse. For your sake and your customers', I hope your service improves and the food provides more flavor and excitement. The 1 hour drive there and back definitely wasn't worth it.
JJfood
Loved it! The ambience is relaxed and fun, the vibes are good and the pasta is amazing. Recommend the pumpkin ravioli and or the ragout and or the lasagne 😀
DrinkAndFeast
Nicely decked out and popular Italian joint. The place had a great ambience and sleek fitout - especially liking the communal round table where everyone can be engaged simultaneously and not get that issue of not talking to that person in the corner. Even though it's a pizza joint, they were a bit meh. Stand outs were the polenta chips and ravioli dish- both were done very nicely. Others had other pasta variants and didn't rate unlike the ravioli..come back here for the ambience and convenience.

Baby is on the pricey side, but it's fresh and delicious. We love sitting at the kitchen counter for a casual dinner, watching the chefs to their thing. <br/>The buffalo mozzarella is to die for.
Jacqui Jayesuria
Baby is my favourite Italian restaurant in richmond! Whether it be a Friday work lunch or group dinner with a set menu, it never disappoints. <br/>Favourite dishes are the meatballs, polenta chips, ragu pasta and cabbage and pea salad. All the pizzas are delicious!
Miffy
Overpriced and salads are a joke-$25 for a caprese which had four slices of tomato four slices of mozzarella and few pieces of basil I was literally so angry I'll never return based on how disrespectful serving that to a customer is. Such average food too many other great places
TheBearReview
Good little local Italian. I say local because although it is a decent place for pasta and pizza, you definitely wouldn't want to travel for it. It is decent price for South Yarra - ie over priced if it was anywhere else. Service is ok.<br/>I go only because I live so close and don't earn enough to go to Caffe e Cucina whenever I feel like. That pretty much sums it up!

Been to Baby many times and it does not disappoint. Stand out dishes are the zucchini flowers and the tiramisu. The staff really make the atmosphere which makes the dining experience even better. Often tended to by Stefano who was always attentive and professional, sad to hear he had left last time I dined there!! Recommend this place to anyone!

There aren't many places to eat on this side of church street. Well not unless your willing to go for a 10 minute walk. <br/><br/>This means that it's busy and noisy so conversations are hard to have. Really busy, the food is fresh & lovely but due to the chaos we found ourselves forced to get the menu ourselves, stand up to get any waiter's attention to order. <br/><br/>The pizza and pasta is nice. Yet to try a main. The salads I will not be returning for as they have been very disappointing.
Steph
Came here for coffee a couple of times and I have never been more impressed with my Latte! Service is great and the atmosphere is incredible! As a girl with an Italian background I am so happy with this place and will be back in the near future for a meal! defiantly recommend!

Fortunate to have Baby as a local favourite - also worth traveling to if you're up for a delicious Italian feast! Warm and vibrant atmosphere and wonderfully attentive staff! My friends and I love the gorgeous Italian waiters just as much as the food! Where has the tall, dark handsome guy from Capri gone? He was our favourite! Try the lasagne it's incredible and do not give the doughnuts a miss! Great wine selection too!

So lucky to have Baby Pizza nearby, perfect for a great coffee, cheeky breakfast or a really, really great pizza. The menu covers off a whole list of mouth watering options and you can soon spend a small fortune trying lots of lovely dishes. Think calamari, arancini, gnocchi, meatballs, ragu, lasagne and a whole hot of beautiful, perfectly thin crust pizzas.
LindaMelb
OK lets get this out of the way.....the pizzas are expensive really expensive. Yeah you can make them upmarket and use the reputation from other owned restaurants but they're still pizzas. For the price you expect spectacular but in reality they're just good pizzas but not worth money.
J_cinta
Eaten here twice and both times have loved the pizzas! Prices may seem a bit high but they're definitely worth it! Funghi pizza is amazing - lots of different mushrooms + cheeses and a lovely thin crust, perfect! Nice ambient atmosphere and staff always smiling :)

One of my favourite (if not THE favourite) pizza place in Melbourne. Constantly delivering perfect food, this is a staple for my family and I. We love the Vitello Tonnato and the Melanzane pizza - they are ordered every time we go without fail. It's also worth mentioning the cans of Peroni Red and their gelati collaboration with Pidapipo (Hazelnut, Biscotti and Nutella) - it's seriously amazing.

I have been here many time food is great, atmosphere is fab and most of the time service is excellent. <br/><br/>Tuna Tartare YUM! <br/>and they can cook a steak to perfection to.

Top Paddock was full so we decided to come here. Didn't regret it! It was our second choice anyway! The food was delish! Will definitely be back!

Remarkable beef ragu at baby, service and vibe sensational just love this place not to mention the pizzas fresh real and so authentic. I would suggest that baby is by far one the coolest and best restaurants in Melbourne currently.
Noniefalco
Good, if a little over-priced... Just looked at a couple of the recent negative reviews of this place, I think they where unnecessarily harsh.. We were sat promptly towards the back of the restaurant, we had a super friendly waiter/manager who was in training with another younger girl, was confident and on top of everything (guy in light blue shirt). Everything came out on time and yes, our water was constantly topped up (can't figure out why people have commented on that with negativity!). Food was tasty and spot on but slightly over-priced for what it was. They where super busy and possibly a little unorganized but the charming friendly service made up for it. Also I must say, there was a very intoxicated patron on a table close by who was causing a lot of discomfort to other guests and staff but was dealt with in a very calm, patient and professional manor which defused the situation perfectly. Overall, a good experience.

Not worth the hype. If your choosing a place for dinner to eat and drink in a timely manner with basic service don't bother with Baby. <br/><br/>They don't seat guests of 2 on tables of 2 (if a 3rd seat has been squeezed in) and similarly wont sit a table for 3 people if it has been set for 4 people, thus people come in behind you that get seated first. Not great but I can look past this - they're trying to make as much money as possible. ok. Thus we sat at the bar, not a lot of space on the side that faces all the fresh produce behind the glass but again I could look past this. Our waiter, who appeared to be the manager, sat us, gave us menus and water. Great - no issue. But that's where the service stopped. <br/><br/>We then had to wait over 30minutes before anyone came back to ask us if we were 'ready to order?' - yes .... after 30mins without even an offer of a drink and seeing wait staff look at us but not actually do anything - we were ready to order. The food was then prompt, to be fair. The kitchen staff appear to do a good job, but to get 7 or so pieces of ravioli (small) as a main when it should really have been an entree left me rather hungry. I would have ordered a dessert but again, no one ever asked, and frankly by that point I was looking forward to getting home to feed myself. Thus I asked for the bill, and true to form, 20minutes later it still hadn't come so we got up to pay at the door. I very nearly walked out without paying after continuing to wait at the door with no assistance, alas paid the full bill albeit without a tip (surprise surprise) which I believe was more than generous. I would like to believe this was a once off but a friend had eaten there the night before and has a similarly poor experience. Disappointing

I recently celebrated my birthday here with a group of 18. We indulged in the banchetto (set menu) and on behalf of me and my guests i can say that the food was absolutely delicious. Lots of food, fantastic company, great vibe and friendly staff. What more could you ask for?
LadbydayFoodiebynight
Lol. Paid $25 for 7 pieces of Ravioli draped in oil. You literally could not make this kind of stuff up. This "meal" took a total of 2 minutes 40 seconds to eat. <br/><br/>Staff members seem to have attempted to make up for their poor service/social skills/basic manners by continually filling up patrons glasses of water, so hats off to them.
Melbourne-foodie
Came to celebrate a friend's birthday on Saturday night with 5 others (including her elderly grandmother). Despite the 45 minute wait (which is expected at 8pm on a Saturday) the service and food were exceptional. Being a gluten free vegan they made me a delicious mushroom and broccolini pizza, Nona was escorted by the friendly waiters to our table and all attention was on us for the singing of happy birthday. A very pleasant experience, the place was pumping but the staff were not frantic. Will definitely be back again :) <br/>Keep doing what you're doing, it must be working

Stumbled upon this place after being too hungry to wait for a table at Kong and we were pretty stoked. Sat at the bar and watched the salad/desert chefs do their thing which was really entertaining. They were friendly and even gave us a free desert that didn't come out of its mild properly - creme caramel I which was so good!<br/><br/>I had the seafood marinara and my girlfriend had the duck ragu and both were delicious.<br/><br/>Overall a great experience!
Eimearcolleran
Worst service ever received in Melbourne!. Went in for breakfast. They totally forgot our order...tables around us were served without waitstaff even noticing we had nothing in front of us for about half an hour.

Good service.thats about it. Overpriced average food. Pizza was awful. Highly recommend you avoid this place

Piselli Prosciutto E Mozzarella Di Bufala Buffalo Mozzarella, San Daniele Prosciutto, shaved Pecorino, Peas, Mint This is not a dish either of us would usually order and there was a lot of prosciutto for one person, but I guess if you loved prosciutto you’d be in heaven! It was very refreshing and a great change for an entree, all elements were fresh and worked really well together. It isn’t something we would order on our own but maybe as a dish to share between a few people.

With a strong Italian focus, group executive chef of Chin Chin, Dave Ricardo, oversees Baby's modern trattoria style menu. The open kitchen delivers a range of traditional and speciality pizzas, salumi, spezzatino, pasta, salads, and dolci.  Be sure to secure a seat the bar and watch all the kitchen action. Akin to the growing trend in Melbourne's fun, modern eateries, Baby is a walk in, no bookings. For your eating pleasure, they're open for breakfast, lunch or takeaway if you want to skip the queues for dinner.  There's also a trendy little courtyard in front.  Try one of the Italian beverages or dine al fresco if indoors is off limits and weather pe

Terrible service. It was a busy night so maybe the staff were under some pressure but the waitress (lena) who served us had a terrible attitude , we ended up moving indoors and consequently had a different waitress who was mildly better. The food was average with the polenta too salty and the salad had way too much vinegar. Unimpressed.

Won't be back... Thought we would check out the hype of Baby.. Firstly I will say the food was good but unfortunately that is only a small part of a dining experience. I felt the service was poor. Not enough explanation of the menu or wine list and thought the staff were preoccupied with the notion they were pretty cool because of where they worked..

Better than last time. The first time I went to baby pizza I didn't have the best experience. I found the appetisers quite dissapointing, and the salmon pizza far too rich. However, tonight I went for my second time and really enjoyed my evening. My gnocchi with pumpkin and sage was a good portion for the price and had a yummy flavour, a very fresh pumpkin taste. My other friend had the duck ragu and enjoyed it. And my other friend's pizza had a yummy base and crust. The only dissapointment was the housemade focaccia which lacked the flavour of the Rosemary it claimed it had. And instead contained olives and tomatoes which were not listed on the menu. Overall, a very pleasant night and will be back!!

Had the pizza. It was ok. Friend had the Bistecca Di filetto which was very disappointing and overpriced. Service was good though.

Exceptional Dinner Outside. Dined earlier this week with my daughter. as I am not from Melbourne she picked the place. We were greeted and sat by waitress Carly who paid attention to us throughout the night. She gave us specials, recommended wines, and overall made our dining experience relaxed and fun. Went above and beyond to be knowledgeable & attentive ... checked in with us at all the right times. Carly was very conscientious of us & the groups around us which was refreshing. Ordered all to share, as a recommendation which did not disappoint. Will be visiting to sit outside with a spritz more often! The Perfect Setting :-) :-)

I opted for a pasta for the evening, a handmade tagliatelle duck ragu . Suggested by our waiter for the evening, the tagliatelle was cooked al dente with soft richly flavoured braised duck ragu. Lightly tossed in the delicious ragu sauce, it has my thumbs up. Miss S ordered the pizza with potato, fior di latte, and rosemary. The base was light and crispy on the outside, but soft and pillowy inside. The fior di latte was delicious and light.  Miss N ordered the Piselli e Prosciutto - a delicious combination of buffalo mozzarella, san daniele prosciutto, pea, mint and shaved parmesan on top. Along with the Insalata Mista - a mixed green leaf and fennel salad. The texture of the mozzarella was smooth with a lovely bite, if I could bring this home and eat it on some fresh bread, it would be heaven.  To top off the night we shared the specialty pizza - Pizza Dolce . Topped with salted caramel, poached pear, lemon thyme crumble and nougat gelato on top it was hard to say no, and very hard to stop at one bite! The lemon thyme crumble was delicious on top of the salted caramel, giving the pizza a lovely crunch with the slightest hint of thyme. The nougat gelato on top was ahhh-mazing, with chunks of soft nougat throughout it's a very over the top, decadent pizza that is a must try.  All in all, the pizza base texture here is a tad on the thin side, but still delicious and chewy. I rate the duck ragu tagliatelle as a must try if you do ever visit. Most of the dishes are designed to be shared with the group, and having little bites of all the delicious flavours is

Friday lunch is exciting enough normally but Grand Final eve Friday is one of the most exciting of the year. Richmond has a certain buzz the entire weekend being so close to the MCG. Lunch with a group on the hop could be difficult. While Baby is normally busy, it is relatively easy to get a table for lunch before 12.30pm. As a result, the atmosphere at lunch builds from quiet contemplation of the menu, to atmospheric and noisy (in a good way). Baby is part of the Chin Chin and Kong trilogy. It is without any doubt, the most standard of the three. However, there is nothing wrong with offering good Italian food, focussing on pizza, that is reasonably priced, in a convivial setting that is extremely popular. My take on the pizza is that it is several times better than the chains, better than most standard Italian restaurants and cafes, but not as good as the upper echelon of pizza joints around Melbourne such as D.O.C. as an example.
Chasing A Plate
I needed somewhere casual, fun and affordable which offered reliable tasty food and drink. Baby fit the bill down to a T.  The three of us headed there on a Friday night after a couple of glasses of champagne to celebrate the arrival of DO to Melbourne.  We strolled in at around 9:00pm and were promptly referred to the bar after being told the wait was about 45 minutes.  It didn't worry us, the place was buzzing and we were more than happy to nurse glasses of Tom Carson's grenache rose whilst we waited for a table. The availability of carafes of rose, pinot gris and pinot noir are genius- well priced and not a bad drop- we often order these when dining at Baby or Chin Chin. We were seated after about half an hour and were presented with menus to peruse.  The service that night was better than I've previously experienced- a bit more genuine and friendly, as I've often found it to be a quite brusque.  The menu is extensive and there really is something for everyone.  We weren't hugely hu
The 3000 Chapter
We started with cocktails and prosecco and ended up ordering a bunch of different things off the menu. It was a great meal and very reasonably priced (just over $250 for five of us and we had cocktails to start, a bottle of wine to share and TOO MUCH food!).
The City Lane
Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, the menu is traditional Italian. Pizza, Pasta, Salads and a selection of mains and extras. Baby isn’t quite the next Chin Chin in what it does with the food but it’s a solid meal and the ingredients are all quality.
Michael
I feel there are a lot of overpriced items on the menu but the Beef Ragu is delicious.

Awesome Pizza. I have been here a few times and the pizza is second to none. A good choice of pizza toppings and for me, most importantly, a good thin crispy base. Its a victim of its own success, regularly packed and you cant really book unless you are a large group. Wine/beverage list is fairly extensive, all Italian based. A little pricey to be honest and there are pizza restaurants that will give you a good pizza for half the price, but none seem to hit the spot with the thin crispy base like Baby does. Service level is hit and miss and I have had the misfortune of choosing the chair that always gets bumped by the waiters as they pass. All in all worth visit if you like thin pizza but be prepared to pay that extra $, and be prepared to wait for a table...!

My new favourite. Have been to baby numerous times now and it just keeps hitting the mark. Affordable beautiful food with great service and style

Diasspointing and overpriced. This is the second time I am writing this review for baby pizza. It looks like they are in the habbit of deleting reviews. <br/><br/>Baby pizza is completely over priced for the food they serve their customers. Serving sizes are small at best and the taste is extremely average. The staff couldn't even get my drink order right....<br/><br/>Baby pizza is proof that a poor dining experience will certainly stay with you. I would not recommend this place

Have eaten here a few times, the food and staff have always been great, the N'duja pizza is perfection. So many winners.

Not great. Pizza was too salty and service seemed quite pretentious. Dessert was tasty though. I've been a few times so willing to give it another shot.

Disappointed.. Great food let down by really sloppy service at the al fresco area.

Great service great pizza pretty good pasta's...

Super cool breakky. The brekky at baby is soooooo goooooood great coffee , great pancakes and delicious brekky pizza

Four of us dined on New Years Eve. We got the banquet. Every meal was delicious and perfectly-cooked and while they were extremely busy staff were attentive and friendly. Recommend sitting behind the bar - watching the kitchen work is fascinating and adds to the experience.
Foodlicious
Loved it! Great service with our 6 month old in tow, nice wine list and loved the Duck pasta
Charlie
Had a great sat night there. Pizza was so fresh and great firm base! Cold beer, great staff and good quality coffee can't ask for more than that. Duck ravioli was amazing as was the fried calamari.... But that mousse cake....heaven!
Alistair
Food was amazing but the service, vibe, and cost detracted from the evening. The waiters were very pretentious and offered very little help, one meal didn't arrive despite asking multiples times, in addition to one of us getting hit in the head with a plate with no physical apology (only a brief verbal apology being made by the waitress) made by the venue. The blinds were opened and closed eratically over the course of the evening, and the tiny peroni beers that were served were nowhere near worth $9.50. Other than the issues stated above the evening was enjoyable.
John.blore
Not worth it, minimalist pizza that's brought to the table by disinterested staff
Tim Bindley
Excellent service and food. I have heard many good things about Baby, but was hesitant reading some of the reviews here. I took my wife and four kids to Baby on Sunday night. The place was busy but the waitress was very attentive. Food was excellent and service was fast for a busy restaurant. Will be back for sure.
HungryGirl
I go to Baby a lot - once a fortnight at least as it's convenient. Great food, solid crowd pleasing dishes but dammit, the worst staff known to man! Daytime is a lot better but after the noise and rude waiters at Tuesday's dinner, I've vowed not to go back at night.
Sam
Best beef rigatoni in town. Def must try the rigatoni in beef ragu. yummylicious!

Gone down town. Used to be my fav restaurant ever and now its quality is poor the food is just thrown on the plate. the staff are not nice anymore either
Long Lunch
Fun, good but a bit expensive. Good food, great atmosphere, really great waters but a little bit pricey so what could be an every week venue is sadly a special occasion one.
Teenfoodie
We all found the staff to be pretentious and snobby as though we were a real hindrance just for wanting to order. To get the attention of staff was difficult to say the least. One dish my group asked for was to be under done/rare. When brought out the dish was very well done, and moreover the replacement was medium to well at best-not happy. The one redeeming quality of the experience were the muffins- they come highly recommended especially when warmed up with butter on the side. Coffee was fantastic. Poached eggs on sourdough was delicious as was the avocado mash with toast (these types of dishes are hard to bugger up no?) and somewhat redeemed the unsavoury customer service. Careful if you order tea- mine came in a dirty cracked teapot. I'll be back because I believe in second chances and the muffins were that good. Hopefully the staff will be in a better mood! Customer service 2/10 Food 6.5/10

Never again. I came here with my family on Wednesday to celebrate a birthday. It was truly awful. The place was noisy, the seating was uncomfortable, the service was pretentious and condescending. Above all, the food was poor. Admittedly, my son had a pizza that was OK. The pasta was not as good as La Porcetta which is saying something. It was horrendously overpriced. I felt totally ripped off.

Baby Brekkie. Brekkie is new to this old favorite. Good size breakfast menu and yummy food. 7 of us had different things from hotcakes to clay pot baked eggs and bircher muesli. All the food was yummy & good sized portions - had to have a very small lunch later in the day. Staff were nice and coffee was good. Few wrinkles to iron out as we had to wait a bit, but will defs be back for dinner every so often.
Jorja
So loud, but always great service. Good mix of dishes on the menu.
Jezer13
Dinner and show. The chefs in this place need to learn to have a bit of respect for their staff and the customers that pay their wages. Carrying on like a pack of bafoons isn't the most enjoyable experience. I didn't pay to come to the circus

Good pizza, worth the money. These guys are good at what they do. great atmosphere, good service, quality food. i'm a fan and would recommend to friends. great place to have a cold beer and pizza after work

Second of the three Lucas restaurants. Friendly service, plenty of tables between lunch and dinner although it was filling up fast from around 5.30PM onwards. Food was delicious - authentic Italian pizzas and pastas. So much captures you on the menu that it's a must to go again. <br/><br/>Having now tried all three of Chris Lucas' restaurants, I would rate this second after Chin Chin (which never disappoints!) and way ahead of Kong BBQ.
Astrid Koutoulas
Overrated. The food is average which is reflected in the reasonable prices. Didn't get a water refill the whole time (even once the restaurant cleared out) had to ask for cutlery, parmesan and chilli however other tables already had these things. Our food was taken to the table next to us by accident. Will not be returning.

Had dinner here with the girls on Thursday night- great food, great atmosphere, and awesome menu. Will be back

Not best first impression. Visiting melb for a weekend, got sent there for a late friday lunch. 2 other customers in there and 10+ all male staff who clearly were not impressed that i interrupted the afternoon gossip session. Not offered a drink or drink menu on seating. Food was ok but overpriced. Really ordinary service.

Fabulous. First up, in true New York fashion, you can't book for tables of less than 8 people. Once you get past that, the place is great. Extensive menu of all things italian, italian waitstaff and huge wine menu. Its madness in this restaurant and gets quite busy - our visit was for 8 people (without a booking) on a Tuesday night and the place was packed. I have heard the wait can be super long, so worth going on a night you are up for an early dinner? Loved everything except the super uncomfortable chairs.<br/><br/>Edit - Visited again in October 2015:<br/>Sacrilegious I know, but I actually prefer to NOT eat pizza at Baby Pizza. This time around I had the gnocci al cinghiale - pan fried gnocchi, slow braised wild boar ragu w. spicy nduja & cacciatore sausage. I was aiming for a salad, but I couldn't resist and kind of glad I didn't have a tuna salad! So delicious! Service was good, accommodating our large work group. Food arrived relatively quickly and drinks were looked after appropriately. Thanks again!
Elaine Sung
Terrible service Which is a.... Terrible service<br/>Which is a shame because the food was very good. We had a late lunch and the restaurant was about half full, yet the waiters all seemed to be terribly busy and avoiding all eye contact. They forgot to bring out entree, with a very insincere apology. Had to ask for the bill twice and to add insult to injury the manager ignores me when he returns with my obviously female named credit card (preferring to discuss matters with the gentleman). <br/>There are numerous Italian restaurants that are modern and do this a million times better (and often cheaper). Give me DOC any day
Susie
Yes & No. My partner and I went to Baby last Friday night and had a bitter sweet experience. We were seated at the bar and asked twice for a table as I have lower back problems. Our request was ignored and the manger sat new comers at the free tables - very rude!!! I had the duck ragu and it was BEAUTIFUL! Possibly the best I've had in a long long time. My partner had a pizza and it wasn't the best - very stingy with the bocconcini (which is arguably the best bit!). We did not receive our entree so the waiters took it off our bill and gave it to us with our mains. I thought that was very reasonable. The drinks overall are a bit expensive but the waiter we had was really patient and helped me pick out a perfect wine. All in all I will be returning for another bowl of ragu - but there are definitely better pizzas in Melbourne! Go early to secure a table!

Baby Cafe. I have never experienced bad food or service at Baby during the day, I am always greeted with a smile by Francesca and Denis. It is a pleasure visiting this café because the service by these staff members is exceptional every time.

Absolutely sensational. I had my fist dinner at baby yesterday and my second breakfast today.<br/>Food is really, really, really good and the service is awesome during breakfast time and was great yesterday night as well.<br/>They also delivery the best coffee I've ever had in Melbourne so far.<br/>Well done baby!<br/>I'll defiantly be back!

Baby love. On a recent visit to Melbs caught up with some friends who live and work nearby for a quick lunch. Baby is perfect for this type of thing and judging by the crowd many would no doubt agree. Efficient, friendly service, delicious food and we were in and out in an hour although I would have liked to stay longer. Really superb beef carpaccio and the pasta with duck ragout was a stand out dish. Coffee was also very good.

Heart dinner at Baby on a rainy night. Hearty dinner on a rainy night at BABY ಠ౪ಠ <br/><br/>Chefs were munching on cheese and smoked salmon while they prepared food for the diners, hmmmm. We were kinda chased out towards the end of the night, they gave us the bill straightaway. Tsk tsk! <br/><br/>1. shiraz from mclaren valley: waiter recommended this if I don't mind a strong drink, not bad and it warmed me straight up from the cold! <br/><br/>2. margherita pizza: thin and crispy but 400 Gradi's was way better and moist... <br/><br/>3. beef ragu rigatoni: beef was soft and tasty; pasta was al dente, yummy!<br/><br/>4. bread and butter: special dessert of the day! According to the head chef at the pass, it was their best dessert so far, made to order too...

So so bad baby. Waited two hours at their miserable overcrowded bar for a table that's a "few minutes away". $$$ comes before customers at this dump.

I visited the Baby pizzeria for the first time, great food but didn't feel like the waitress was very welcoming, disappointing for such a lovely place with great food.

People makes difference. Well, Baby is not the best place where to eat pizza in city, everyone knows..however, they always try to be act with specials and something different everytime you walk in and the kitchen is good!<br/>Is always (too much) busy at dinner!why not to go during lunch time.<br/>Service is 110% better and absolutely much experienced on the floor. Denis and Francesca they make people absolutely feel at home drinking first coffee of the day.<br/>Well, we must talk about the coffee.<br/>They recently changed coffee beans and...coffee maker!<br/>What's better to walk in early in the morning and see a young, beautiful, (Italian) girl making awesome coffee??<br/>Even if busy she can make everytime the same high quality of coffee! The management team of Baby should take care of the new barista!<br/>Let me say that Top Paddock across the road should be scared about that! Baby is growing up, also as Cafè! A really high score to the pastry chef as well!bomboloni are amazing!<br/>They have to fix up the evening staff which is not really friendly and doesn't hit the ground like you expect from a place quoted 70% likes.<br/>Nothing to say about the food, unfortunately in a good restaurant what makes difference, is the people who's working in!
Christina Kosmas
Food was quite good however a tad overpriced for what you get. Service wasn't that great, waitress could have smiled a bit more. Had to ask for water a few times, would be easier to place a jug on the table if you aren't going to refil the glasses constantly.
Yummo
Atmosphere and Italian Food. Great place for atmosphere and pizza. With only very few wines under $65, the night gets expensive very quickly though. Best thing to do is just get a whole lot of dishes (e.g. entrees, pastas and pizzas) to share. Pizzas and food are well crafted, but none of the dishes we tried really held up on their own, which re-enforces the need for a variety of dishes. Also, the loud atmosphere tends to distract from any subtle flavours. All round good experience though.

I literally paid $25 for about 5 pieces of subpar ravioli swimming in oil. The staff were rude & obnoxious- our waitress wouldn't collect our menu's after we ordered so we put them in the middle of the table. She came back & laid them back out in front of our faces saying "keep them there in case you want to order something else." Totally unimpressed. Will not be back & honestly surprised this place has a rating of 70%.
Hnlzerbe
Baby no good. Very disappointing. Average meals which are honestly nothing special but desserts really let them down. Doughnut balls (cold) served with nutella sauce (just nutella in a bowl) and a very small potion of tiramisu. Not worth the money at all. Won't be back. Such a shame as Chin Chin is amazing.

Fantastic.... It's sunday night and have just left Baby so while the misses drives home thought I'd send u my experience. We arrived at 7 and greeted by a tall calm mature man who made us feel like the only people in the room which was buzzing. Very nice personal touch and a great start to the night. From there on the place could do no wrong. Both food and service was fantastic and very well run. On our way out and there he was again, the meet and greet guy, all smiles and professional. We'll be going back...maybe each sunday.
Nat
I had the takeaway Napolitana pizza - it was soggy and cold. The base tasted "cheap" compared to my favourite pizza places on Melbourne. Overpriced and lacks quality. I would avoid this place if you really love a good pizza.
Zaita Anderson
Great food, obnoxious service. Ate here a couple of weekends ago. They were full inside, so we sat outside. Waiter outside asked us for drink orders before giving us menus, served our food without cutlery, didn't bring water until he was asked, and did it all with a sour "you're causing me an inconvenience" expression. Asked to have the heater turned on, it wasn't working but no-one gave us the option to move tables or told us that it wouldn't turn on. Every table seated near us was given the option to move to a table closer to heater. Luckily we ordered just before it got dark, as menus are illegible (table next to us left as they couldn't see to order). It was a pity, as the food was delicious (two pizzas and polenta chips) and we didn't have to wait long for it.

A friend recommended this place to me. Great restaurant, had a glass of red and pizza. Will definitely come back.
Caitlin Kingsley
Love this place! Come here regularly for coffee and cake and the coffee never let's me down. Delicious! The staff are just lovely, polite and very friendly! My order always comes out promptly, not a bad word to say!
Thom Breslin Hoxton
Seated outside at 19:30. No lighting apart from fairy lights a few meters high in the treetops. Menu printed on brown paper, small print, illegible. Asked waitor twice for a light/ candle. He said "I have nothing for you". Manager Mark said they did have lights 2 weeks ago. Not for me. A legible menu and a light level to read it should be standard. Didn't hang around to try the food.

Everyone who has written a bad review honestly needs to chill out. Baby has a great vibe and seriously good food. I don't blame the staff if the restaurant is packed and I'm not their first priority! They were helpful and friendly, even if we were a party of 2 crammed in a corner. I loved it, and it's not the first good experience I've had here. Worth a try if you're not a pretentious diner who thinks you know everything about everything. Just saying.

Average. Great place for a group. <br/>Food = average, was not blown away.

Buono. Great food, atmosphere and service. A recommended Saturday night dining experience, worth the wait!
Bonnie
Average service, average food - food came out cold. Underwhelming.
Iain
Extremely rude pretentious staff. Average food. Would not go back. Chin chin on the other hand was fantastic. Great friendly service and awesome food.
Dotty
The food is good but overpriced, the staff are ok but quite pretentious, and if you are a party of two, they cram you in with other tables of two so that you are practically on top of the people next to you. Pretentious clientele also. Avoid.

The closest taste to Italy ever!<br/>Tasty lite and delicious.<br/>Great service!

Not a fan. For a place of this reputation i had a pizza which i can only describe as "not bad". i expected more for the price and reputation. the staff seem very up themselves just because i asked for extra water and to top off my experience i received a parking ticket too, would not go again, if you want a good pizza get it delivered from Crust down the road.

Came with high expectations as chin chin is my fave and I have to say baby knocked it out of the park. Perfect base, great dan Daniele prosciutto, and the buf mozzarella fantastic. $30 isn't cheap bug goddamit it's worth it. A worthy foe to doc carlton. Huzzah! Huzzah!
Geoff McInnis
Pizza and pastas are good but the service is rather shocking. Slow, long wait to get a drink, and some uptight service staff. I've given this place three attempts and and can't envision a fourth.
Sharidan Bowman-Burke
Yummo!. Seriously don't understand why this place has such a low rating. Sure, it can be hard to justify paying $25 or so for a pizza when you can get one cheaper at other places but you can't deny they're tasty. Pasta dishes could be a bit more generous but my god they taste good. Again, I'm sick of places that don't accept bookings but it's not going to stop me from eating here.

No one puts baby in the corner. Good menu. Friendly staff. Dessert pizza was good. Staff mix up order and served us the more expensive tuna - which we then had to pay for. That said, the salad was nice. Nduja had a kick to it.

Great lunchtime experience. We stumbled onto Baby on a Friday, we were after a quick lunch and was pleasantly surprised by the very friendly and attentive service. We enjoyed a great chicken salad and lovely coffee....will be back to try more and stay longer.
Tomas
Very disappointing - service was way off the pace and rude, the bill was wrong three times. We gave up asking for drinks as they never came and were asked what whether we wanted dessert before we'd got our pizzas. Food was average and a bit cold.
Scomanda
Was really looking forward to visiting Baby but have left disappointed, due to the below par service. Food was tasty but the overall experience was lacking the pizazz of Chin Chin. Will not be returning anytime soon.

Pleasantly Surprised. Stumbled across Baby Pizza one Saturday night while looking for somewhere to eat. <br/>Staff were nice enough to seat us at the bar next to the kitchen. Not the greatest seats, but given we had not made a booking we could not complain.<br/>The antics in the kitchen between the Head Chef and the staff were more than enough to keep us entertained. <br/>We ordered the Salumi Pizza and the Handmade Tagliatelle Duck Ragu to start with and could not believe how quick they were both on our plates. <br/>The pizza was amazing and had a good hint of chilli. Not over the top covered with ingredients, just enough to enjoy the different flavours and textures.<br/>The pasta was soft, fresh and cooked perfectly.<br/>For desert we tried the Pizza Dolce and we were both uncomfortably happy with how full we are. The Salted Caramel, Poached Pear, Lemon Thyme Crumble and Nougat Gelato worked perfectly together.<br/>While we were eating the desert pizza, the Head Chef came over and apologised for how long it took to come out (only 10-15 minutes which I didn't think was that long anyway) and gave us a banana flavoured Creme Brûlée. At this point our sides were about to explode but we still managed a few spoonfuls and it was just as good it looked. A very good experience<br/><br/>Since that night we went back on a Sunday night and the food and service was no where near as good as that first time. We complained about a pizza that clearly had chilli on it by the spoonful (which it was not meant to) and the waitress tried to tell us it wasn't chilli but a spicy sausage. It was very overpowering and we struggled to eat it. I scooped the chilli off and showed the waitress but still she was adamant it was the sausage... I must not be able to tell the difference between chilli and sausage??? My eyes and taste buds were telling me differently.<br/>I still enjoy this restaurant and would recommend it to anyone, but maybe go on a Friday/Saturday night when the Head Chef is working.

Hello Service???. Met some friends for lunch this afternoon and was really disappointed with the food and the service. The cafe was not full so you would expect the service to be relatively quick. Unfortunately this was not the case. Long time between arrival and drinks order. Then we waited another 40 mins for our food order to be taken and then a further 30 mins to finally get our food which was sub-standard. I mean really??? How hard is to get a pizza right. Begs the question.....isn't this supposed to be a 'Pizzeria"? We ordered 2 different types both were tasteless and burnt. <br/>Do not recommend trying this restaurant.

Best breakfast in years. Don't overlook this place for breakfast. One of the best breakfast menus I've come across. The staff are friendly and it's easy to bring the kids here too.

Loved Baby, went for a late lunch and didn't roll out until 7pm. Staff didn't rush us and were friendly. The food was fantastic, you get a lot on a plate. It's also family friendly, although I wasn't with kids, it was nice to see the kids catered for. Didn't think I heard music, but as we were leave at 7pm it was getting very busy with smart looking people. Great place!
Trina Gilchrist
Perfect!. Great service and the pizza was one of the best I've had in Melbourne!
Bobbywong11
Sensational Place. Really love this place. Baby hits the mark in lots of areas, service , food ambience and cool cocktails. The pizza is right up there with the best in melbourne. The pasta are made fresh and you can tell the diff. The Zucchini pasta was terrific and the prices very reasonable. Great value a winner.
David Farnsworth
The 4 of us popped in on a Saturday night. It was busy and loud , which is fair enough on a Saturday night. But the service was abrupt, rude and rushed (except our water which took an age to come). Sadly the experience wasn't saved by the food, which was a shame as I've eaten take away from their before. You'd expect it to be even better in the restaurant, but it just wasn't the case. It's been open a while now, so you 'd expect this baby's teething problems would be over, but maybe it's a case of the terrible twos?
J
Like the pizza here as its super thin crust, but it's a super pretentious menu where most of its in Italian and we had to ask our waitress what half the descriptions were and had to guess the rest. The pizza did come out a little cold and the menu was a bit pricey for really, just pizza, but the Gorgonzola pizza and salads were yumtastic!

After years of a traditional NY Day lunch at the Middle Park, we decided to try something new & reluctantly headed to Baby in Richmond. Reluctantly? Well I had heard & read some negative reviews which had me prepared to be eating amongst a room full of pretentious people - staff & patrons... Not so! Staff were friendly. Patrons were, well ok, pretty much beautiful people, but it wasn't the 'scene' I was anticipating. It was almost full, with a great vibe. We were seated immediately, order was taken quickly. Food was delicious & the amount more than sufficient. Glasses were full instead of 3/4 like many places. The coffee was great ...& cheap too! The only area for improvement was the time is took to get the bill, but they were busy, so really no complaints. So happy we went. Nice start to the new year.
Kris Kolzan
Had lunch there on Saturday, pizza was very average, pasta was ok. service was good.
Todd_essendon23
Good...But not good enough!. Got Baby Pizza tonight, ordered a Capriciosa which was pretty good, however not as good as Fratellino pizza located on malvern road for a fraction of the price, yet double the flavor. Baby's capriciosa consisted of too many herbs dominating the usual rich flavor of the pizza base. The 2nd pizza was a Salsiccia, which had no base which would have been fine if the toppings were good, however they weren't! Extremely bland pizza which I honestly wouldn't recommend to anyone. Overall, my friend and I were left disappointed and let down by our Baby experience, especially after hearing such good things about the quality of food there.
Jasonlee34
Amazing food. Baby pizzeria is an excellent addition to the Richmond dining scene. I've been with friends and some workmates on a few occasions now and each time the experience has been fantastic. Breakfast is a real winner here. great brekky pizza and the coffee is spot on. The staff friendly and the atoms fun and cool. Oh did i mention the pizzas. super delicious very good crust perhaps the best in melbs.

Mood kill.. I work around the area and decided to give this place a shot since it was quiet and I gathered it wouldn't take too long to get our meals out. <br/>I arrived with my sister at 12.45pm - the restaurant was only half full and half the people there were already seated with their meals. We were not even greeted with a hello or any form of eye contact, I had to approach a waitress so we could be seated. <br/><br/>By 12.55pm (I was keeping track of time for work) we had ordered our meals, the Rigatoni Al Ragu and Spaghettini Marinara. I asked the waitress how long it would take and she told us it would be 10-15 minutes. <br/><br/>By 1.15pm the people next to us who had arrived shortly after us had already received their meals and our glasses of water had already been filled 3 times with no update on how long our meals would be. I had asked the waitress how much longer our food would take and she had told us only a few more minutes. <br/><br/>We waited as we watched other meals being sent out to people who had arrived after us, our waitress being fully aware that we had not received our meals. I had made eye contact with the staff so I could ask how much longer it would take, yet they failed to approach us or pay any attention to us. <br/><br/>1.50pm (The time I was expected to be back at work) - our meals had arrived, our waitress did not even apologise for the wait. We asked for some parmesan and the waiter had placed some on my sisters plate and walked away and did not place some on my plate. By that time, I was too hungry and in too much of a hurry to fuss about it. Our meals were quite disappointing, our pasta was too soft and the flavours weren't exactly special. <br/><br/>2.05pm we asked for the bill and as I got up to pay our waitress apologized for the wait as she walked past not even giving us time to respond. <br/><br/>I worked at a restaurant similar to Baby for 6 years and I am very upset about my experience here. If our docket was lost or if there was a wait on certain items on the menu, I would have appreciated simple communication especially when I had informed them that we were on limited time. I know that sometimes a restaurant could just be having a bad day, however, I have been in that situation and simple gestures could have changed my experience. I do not expect this service anywhere. I felt invisible and I expected a lot more from Baby. I don't think I'll be returning soon.

Love this place. I have been here three times and im about to go again tonight! <br/>Enjoy eating at the bar here its a good atmosphere and a bit more relaxed.<br/>best dishes are your beef carpaccio and your calzone pizzas, so delicious!

Downhill. Dined there for the third time, noticed prices had gone up dramatically, the calamari was terrible thought it may have been off but just too much anchovy in the "olive pesto" ok pasta and pizza, good winelist pity they couldn't find the 2nd bottle we ordered until we were paying the bill to go
Simonhonan
After Work. Great place for after work nibbles and a glass of the red stuff , the beef ragu pasta is very good but the portion is sparce. Had a selection of 3 pizzas and the prawn Gumbia "i think its called" was the winner .The staff are really nice , attentive and friendly. It still has a bit to go to match the pizzas at the D.O.C but overall very enjoyable .

A pleasant surprise. My partner and I headed down to Baby for lunch today after receiving a voucher as a gift last weekend. We were pleasantly surprised by the delicious food and good service. We started with the seared calamari (which was lovely and fresh - not battered or deep fried) and eggplant sugo. For main we shared the cabbage, pea and raddish salad (which was absolutely delicious) and the capricciosa pizza. The only thing I was slightly disappointed with was the pizza as it was burned on the edges and was quite bland. I loved the thin base though and if I return I will try a different pizza. After a drink each and all that food my partner and I left satisfied and without being overly full and were happy that our voucher paid 75% of the $100 bill. I will return.

Needs to visit Pizza Religion in Hawthorn their gluten free pizza is 5 star

Takeaway too. The fact that Baby let's me take away my delicious left overs is reason enough for me to return. They encourage my very enthusiastic eating habits and being able to eat their pizzas at work the next day is a bonus.<br/><br/>Our favourite pizza would have to be the spicey prawn. Their pasta's however weren't as enjoyable but the salads beautifully fresh with lots of flavour. You pay for quality here and you'll get it.

I was expecting more from a venue of this pedigree but was badly let down. Not offensive but not out standing ho hum

Loved it. Great authentic Italian food. Friendly, welcoming staff. Relaxed ambiance. Want to come back!

Pasta was good but didn't rate the arancini. Excellent wine and the staff made our night!
Jem
Beautiful food, fabulously fresh ingredients and very good service!
Heeennnnie
Err ok. This place isn't as hot as its been made out to be! Service was great though, the big let down was the pizza. We tried the gamberi and the broccolini, both were fresh but lacked flavor and a little oomph ! Dessert was also average. Probably won't be going back
Tomg
Bitterly disappointing! Extremely slow service, incompetent management and average cuisine.. Chin chin should be ashamed to be related to this place!

Calzone calzone calzone. Di.... Calzone calzone calzone.<br/>Did I make my point?!

Good Baby. Beautiful pizzas, al dente pasta, ragu perfection<br/>Buzzing ambience and laid back but attentive service

Cool place- very slow service. Everything was delicious! Especially cabbage & pea salad. Such a surprise. Service was very slow and a bit too hipster like. Too cool ...

Baby keeps getting better. Wow I've now been so many times i'm starting to get to know everyone by their first names. Baby is a fantastic package, it really has everything you could ask for and very affordable. I've really fallen in love with the pizza's. They are simply outstanding really so well made beautiful bases and delicious fresh ingredients. My pasta was an amazing handmade pasta with a delicious combination of fresh seafood with just the right amount of garlic. My sister had a delicate chicken salad with fresh mozzarella. Love my baby...<br/><br/><br/>-----03 Sep, 2013-----<br/><br/>Fantastic pizza. Baby has been going for a year or so now and its taken me a while to get in but it was def worth it. Went on the weekend and had a fantastic experience. The food is so wonderful and the winelist i think one the best and affordable in melb. The pizza however was the highlight. the San Dan pizza was delicious and the the caprese spot on. The bases a so crispy and beautifully made and combined with the friendly and efficient service this makes baby a real winner.
Ekaterine H
Doesn't taste as good as it looks!. I'll just start with the service, extremely poor! Not only did my table have to ask for more water or wine it was only on the 4th time of asking did we actually receive it. Food, well the quality is no where near as good as chin chin, it's quite hard to believe they are a sister restaurant. Pasta was bland and i was really trying hard to find some authentic italian flavour however, it was no where to be found. The only thing i would say was lovely were the desserts.
Milandro
Delayed entry! Been to Baby both with kids and for boozing purposes and it fitted the bill well for both. <br/><br/>Really enjoyed the pizza and the vibe of the restaurant.
Theo.georgiur66
“Poor service arrogant wait staff. Went for breakfast. Long wait for orders. Even longer wait for food to come out, one order not done as they had run out of a product and failed to let us know. Rude arrogant staff unapologetic. Won't go back there again.
Tom Donegan
Laughable. Are they serious with that CHICKEN CACCIATORE? What a joke... <br/><br/>Service was nice/ funny/ comic able. Good looking crowd, food is well below par. You would've grown up on McDonalds to think this food is even ok.
Sexyberyl
Expensive for pizza. Do not recommend this place for families it was very loud and not a good value for your money. The service was great but was more of a place to been seen. It is definitely not about the food. We had to wait a long time for a table.
Aliceinwonderland
A date with Baby. A great date venue, didn't have to wait long for a table and enjoyed cocktails and sangria at the bar beforehand. Great attentive service, we asked for menu recommendations and ended up with some beautiful calamari and a braised beef ragu which was delicious! <br/><br/>Would definitely go back to try the pizzas as we sadly missed out on those. Very reasonable $66 per person. Will be back soon for sure!!
Nicole
The quality of meals and drinks was good and service for the most part was great with friendly wait staff. Disappointing that when we presented a 20% voucher issued by the manager for our $800 bill we were advised it couldn't be verified today?! Poor form

Great food, vibrate atmosphere, medium price! Always love an evening at baby! <br/>[the local]

Pro tip - skip dinner - go for a late lunch and you have the great staff and venue practically to yourselves.<br/><br/>Pizza is great - wine is better - staff great . Happy with it !

Fantastic service. Came here on a relatively busy Thursday night and was lucky enough to be seated almost immediately (we were a party of two). I was immediately impressed by the warm nature of our waiter, Matthew, who was attentive and helpful from the moment he greeted us. We were recommended a selection of starters and shared a pizza accompanied by a light and fresh salad. <br/><br/>We will definitely be back for more, and I would advise all diners to speak to their server for tips on the menu.

Great pizza and cool place to be !!

Best pizza I've had in a long time. Great service. Lovely decor. Can't recommend this place enough. Only downside is that you can't book, which I find annoying. Go early and you'll easily get a table!

Do not expect much because they 've forgot customers pay their wages!

Impressed with the experience at baby, first time in for a pizza and was extremely happy with the food and service. <br/>Will be back

Worth a try. I've been to this place the old Pearl restaurant a few times now and want to keep going back. Unlike Pearl the staff are warm welcoming and friendly.<br/>The coffee and food is always great, service is attentive and the feel of the place is relaxed. We haven't been there for anything other than breaky but have enjoyed it everytime. No pretence or fakery here.

Went to Baby pizza last night it was great and service was excellent
Jesssssssicaaaaa
I went last night (a Saturday) with a group of six. We did wait for quite a whole before getting a table, they initially said only 15-20 minutes and it ended up being closer to an hour. They said they would SMS us when the table became available so we went a few doors down to the Prince Alfred bar to get a drink and wait. <br/>Once we were seated the service was great. They were attentive and we never went without water or drinks. <br/>I had the spaghettini marinara which was delicious although could have done with some more seafood in it. Dessert was a lemon meringue tart, it looked plain and almost store-bought but it was so fresh and the pastry light and flaky - no cream on the side though! <br/>Overall, we all had a great night, atmosphere and food was great. Will definitely go back, but perhaps just on a weeknight.
IsFoodIsGood
I do like it. The atmosphere is lively... there's such a buzz in the air and the friendly staff were more than great when the 10 of us rocked up for Friday lunch without a booking. Accommodated us quickly and was keen for the business which I love seeing. Pizzas were tasty and the gluten free base is amongst the best that I've tasted.
Good Stuff
Yum- we had a lovely meal. There was a few of us so we go try lots of different dishes. All were brilliant except for the coffee profiteroles. Service a little slow but hey it's casual fun dining. Glad it's local we'll be back

Great food great vibe. Great food here at Baby in Richmond. I had the breakfast on saturday morning and its was so italian and delicious. What i really like was its so different to the run of the mill cafe stuff we are getting around town. PS the feel and vibe of the place is fantastic with really friendly staff. cant wait tio do lunch and dinner.
Wendy Smith
Terrible! Such a shame!! A poor replacement for Pearl.
Mileskrank
Cool italian. Baby is such a cool place, but its cool with substance. The pizzas and the food generally is outstanding. The pizza fungi so traditional and of such high quality. The place is just jumping all the time. Our dinner was sensational and we really appreciated the effort of the waiter who made it that bit special. We also went for lunch several times and it was equally magnificent. The chin chin people own this as well im told and you can tell from the professionalism. This is the future of cool dining with great value and great cool attitude.
Neilf
Chin Chin's sister is lovley. Baby is the sister restaurant of Chin Chin. I adbsolutly love chin chin and now baby gives me another sibling in the family to love just as much. Simple, unpretentious and a great vibe all in all a winner guys. I live locally and see myself going here as much as i can. I must say that actually my favourite is the great Italian style breakfast. Beautiful delicate options not your normal hipster rubbish being dished up around town. Just beautiful delicious and simple food. PS the origin coffee is fantastic and the barista's really Italian so cool.
MuchLoveForAll
WOW - those meatballs!. Stopped in after the theatre at about 10:30pm on a Saturday night. Greeted by cheerful friendly staff and seated. I chose the meatballs, which I can not wait to go back for. So tasty. My friends both got pasta which they said was just "ok" and lacked real flavour. They also had the doughnuts which they enjoyed. Wine list is substantial, and there is someone around to help. Happy to have a kitchen near by that is still open after 10pm, it's a good place.

Yummy pea pasta. Fantastic meal here with the family! The wait was worth it. Wine list is great too and so are the staff :)

Over rated. Not very appealing venue. it was ok.expected god knows what esp after all the raving reviews. nothing grand

Same concept as Chin Chin but the food is awful! Chin Chin and Baby are worlds apart. Would not go back.
P And K's Taste Journey
Baby has just creeped up into out top three eateries in Melbourne. Our server Marco was perhaps the best example of customer service that I have received since moving to Australia in 2010, and the other staff were just as efficient, friendly, knowledgable and passionate about the jobs, the restaurant and the industry. <br/>We shared the 'melt-in-your-mouth' gnocchi (and took Marco's suggestion to have it with the Ragu - divine), and the Capricciosa Pizza. Both were delicious. Even though we were full - I wasn't able to leave without ordering the lemon meringue tart - which is second only to my Grandma's Lemon Meringue Pie! <br/>Baby deserves a rating up there with Chin Chin & Mamasita - and we will be back!<br/><br/>One minor drawback is the parking in the area - but having said that...it's worth the walk if many a city block to experience!<br/><br/>Tip for groups of 2-4 - sit at the bar if possible as its great to watch the pasty chef and the other chefs in action!
Denny Patron
Long waits for tables and food.... And it's not worth the wait! Pizzas aren't great at all.... Staff ain't that helpful either!
Amy Lee
Came in at 7pm on a Sunday, place was packed but we were lucky and were seated straight away at the bar, which was awesome since you get to see all the cooking action. We were served quickly and ordered the recommended "Gamberi" pizza (prawn) and a veal dish. Despite having high hopes (massive fan of Chin Chin) I was quite disappointed. I've honestly had better pizza from take out. Not only did the pizza have no cheese (can that legally be called pizza?) it was pretty much toasted pita bread with tomato paste and a stingy serve of rubbery prawns and rocket on top. At $22 I thought it was a joke. <br/>The waiter was very accommodating when we said we'd prefer to try another pizza...unfortunately "Salumi" (sausage, prosciutto, ham) was also a disappointment. Though better than Gamberi, it was average at best. Veal was an extremely stingy serve at $35 and tasted like a drier, less satisfying Parma with some rocket and 3 dollops of mozzarella. The waiters overall were nice. Quite a loud restaurant, don't mind the noise though. Food I can honestly only give a 5/10. Would not recommend and would not go back.

Best In Melbourne. Ive been to baby nearly 5 times. i've been for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Firstly let me say Breakfast is without a doubt the best breakfast in Melbourne. the coffee is amazing and so cheap. Ive not seen prices like this anywhere. As for the food its outstanding ingredients combined with real authenticity. The breakfast pizza is superb. The service is professional much like their sister restaurant Chin Chin In fact both these places are often talked about as the best in Melbourne and for good reason. Great vibe, great value and great food , Melbourne is so lucky to have such superb places .
Plain Jane
It is hard to believe that Baby share the same management team behind Chin Chin. This place is a perfect example of the power of the "hype". All show and no soul. It is sad to see this had become a norm of to the dinning scene these day. <br/>I feel no love, no passion and no management from this kitchen. It's like a snake without its head. As for the food, Lyon street cafe had better and more authentic food with half the price tag. We had pizzas, pasta and desserts. The pizzas were good, pasta terrible and don't even start me on desserts. Who ever thought these desserts are authentic tradition Italian clearly doesn't know what they are talking about. It look Italian, sound Italian but doesn't taste anything near it. <br/>Couple hundreds later, a lesson well earned- Never believe the hype! And follow like a pact of wannabe sheep. The moral of the story, if you want to be seen and pretentious, go here. If you like to enjoy your food or try rustic authentic Italian, go elsewhere or go home to nonni.
Dan
We dined on a busy Friday night, and it really wasnt a good place to catch up with friends. It was incredibly loud, and something was up with the heating as we were all sweltering!<br/>The Funghi pizza was almost only cheese and a few thin slivers of mushrooms. The sardines were a bit dry, but the pea salad with them was very tasty.<br/>Perhaps I would try them again once the hype has died down. Richmond needs the variety, but I think the location is really the main reason that Baby has been so busy?
Omnomnomnomnom.
Excellent. What an amazing experience! It does get very noisy but Baby is an awesome venue with a great vibe. Staff are all expert, attentive, very friendly and helpful with selection. The food is all amazing - very clever modern Italian menu with everything cooked to perfection! Favourites are the pea and broadbean orecchiette and prawn pizza. Loved the assorted arancine and fab drinks list. I hope they open up to bookings soon so i can bring a group in!
Amber
Decadence. I visited Baby for the first time last week with a big group of friends and had a lovely time. The food was absolutely beautiful and flavoursome. The wine delightful and service very helpful. The menu is designed to share and we were overwhelmed with the options. Fortunately for us, the waitor helped out and chose some delicious meals like the tomato meatballs, chorizo rigatoni and prawn pizza. Some of the pizzas have a bit of bite to them and the desserts were a stand out. Especially the hot cinnamon donuts with a rich chocolate sauce and the beautiful profiteroles were to die for! Total price was decent split between everyone too.
Arnold2012
Average. Was so looking forward to trying Baby Pizza after seeing the crowds and a promising menu. We ordered takeaway and I was bitterly dissappointed. I ordered the Orechetti which was bland, over cooked with more peas than pasta, 2 broadbeans and dry. We live 2 min away so it's not as though the food had been ruined on the way home. It tasted like a microwave meal and I struggled to find the so called quality ingredients. My partner ordered the rabbit and enjoyed it so perhaps rest of menu is good but I won't be paying $18 for a meal there again.

Mr Pucci doesn't expect much. So many bad reviews.....It's a Pizza place people!!! Chill<br/>I ate well and enjoyed myself.....very loud though....

Do not get breakfast here! So far 50 mins has past and still waiting for our food

Baby Fingers. As is common these days there is a container of cutlery available at each table. <br/>When moving from table to table including the one we were sitting at may I suggest that your wait staff count the number of pieces of cutlery with their eyes and not their fingers. <br/>Call me picky but It is a little disconcerting when your waiter actually touches the business end of each piece of cutlery to count the number available at the table. Yuck!

Nice Baby. Decided to have lunch here today and knowing that you can't book we arrived at 12.30pm and were seen to a table within minutes. However, I noticed the place got busy after 1pm.<br/><br/>Service was good but I think because we got there and ordered early. Having said that, they didn't come round once to ask how our meals were!! Lucky for them we had no cocmplaints.<br/><br/>We ordered arancini, cherry tomato pizza and chicken salads and we enjoyed them.<br/><br/>Would visit again soon.
James
Average. Has the feel of a kitchen with no love.

Funny place. This place... some staff were much more interested in themselves than customers... one guy at the bar though- totally great service. turned my frown upside down. <br/>food was very good and i kinda love the wine list. reminds me that italians do make the best wines.. there was some uncommon aussie stuff too.<br/>the place was packed- we waited 40 minutes for a table then our food came out about 50 seconds after we ordered it which was weird, but fine. <br/>the crowd here is the funny part though. a mix of south yarra 'trendies' and internet dating couples- good move, this place could help get over 40 year olds laid with its 'hip' vibe.
Martini_love
Nothing special. After all the hype of this place i expected better. It's just standard Pizza and Pasta and the service could be better. They forgot our mains which is fine after waiting 50 mins but then there was a hair in it. <br/><br/>Food was still nice but nothing special. Waiters need to also be more attentive and polite.

Food was ok but service was absolutely terrible. Waited over 20 minutes for coffees.

Very disappointing. After seeing the crowds at this place we finally went for lunch, expectations were high as if a place looks busy it must be good right?..... Wrong!! overpriced for very average food, we were hungry after an hour, other than the good looking waitstaff this place is a waste of time!!
ElVee
This experience was the height of disappointment. After waiting an hour for a table (we'd expected this so no huge concern given the hype surrounding the place). Once seated, we were surprised at the size of the menu, and wondered why they hadn't decided to refine it to pizzas and a few specialties.<br/><br/>The imported Peronis were great and kept us going, but we weren't confident when our Italian waitress struggled to take order. We were right, as when our mains arrived we found out that our starters had been 'forgotten'. A brief apology, and we decided to tuck into the mains with excitement. An excitement short-lived. The pastas were undercooked, flavourless, poorly presented and extremely small given the price tag. Those who chose pizza were happy; it seems that the chefs might be best advised to stick to why they know and adhere to the restaurant's description as a pizza house. All non-pizza items were poor, and a glance around other tables indicates that other diners agreed.<br/><br/>The most shocking part of the experience is that Baby is the sibling of Chin Chin, a pretentious establishment yet with the food to back it up. Where Chin Chin thrives with inspired menu variation and taste experimentation, Baby opts for bland simplicity in its plates without lowering the bill accordingly.<br/><br/>It must be said that the manager was humble when hearing of our disappointment, and kindly offered sole complimentary doughnuts. Good service was sporadic, with some wonderful employees holding up the hang of disinterested imports.<br/><br/>With a reduced menu and staff training, we could hope to see an increase in quality and consistency. Until then, the hype is sure to die quickly.

Good Food, place too fancy. Had lunch with a friend last week, food was as good as DOC or 400 GRADI, service was ok, Andrea ( The floor Manager ) was very friendly and helpful, however the place and customers are a bit too " here to be seen " for my taste, I prefer nice simple, less pretentious Pizzeria.<br/>Wouldn't rush back.

Went to Baby today for a drink with friends. Very nice ambience but more importantly the staff were brilliant. Cannot praise enough Matthew whose service was fantastic but who also took the time to explain and promote Baby. He is a wonderful asset to the business.
Eli Hanovitch
Horrible customer service. Another example of the Melbourne all hype no quality food scene. Waste of good quality real estate.

Super Baby. Went over the easter weekend and thought baby was amazing. The place was packed over the long weekend, but got seated within 15 minutes. Very cute manager looked after us a treat. Had the banquet menu which was spot on. The pizza selection is great and so authentic, the crusts perfect and the topping absolutely top notch. shared a few pastas , the ragu probably the best I've ever had. No hipster rubbish here just good service friendly and efficient and so affordable , this is a new regular for sure. oh ps the coffee is sensational made by a real Italian barista in fact the place is so cool italian.

Lots of options.... You have read the reviews and seen the big crowds at Top Paddock across the road, they would rather wait then get a table straight away at Baby. Interesting and enough said.

Enjoyed the pizza and the vibe. Sat at the bar (after being told there would be a 45min wait for a table) and liked the idea of the open kitchen! Floor staff needed uniforms that stand out though.
Sophie Vamvakitis
Wouldn't return overpriced for what it is. Came here tonight and was asked to wait up to 45 mins for a table for 4. We sat outside and ordered some wine till we could make our way inside. What a let down! We knew what we wanted to order but I was a little alarmed at the fact a salad cost more than a pasta. On arrival the tomato and mozzarella salad was a joke. $22 for cherry tomatoes very little mozzarella and hardly any basil. Our pastas arrived but had to wait for my mothers pizza. Food was great but the prices are obviously high to pay for their high rent. Wouldn't be returning here I'm afraid.

Awful dining experience. From the minute we sat down, we felt pressured to hurry up and order and don't dare ask for any variations! Food came out fast and before we had finished the last morsel, our table was being cleared and new cutlery placed over our heads. Food was good but not worth going back for!
Chris
Sat down at 11:00 and presented with menus, the waitress returned after ten minutes to inform us that the kitchen was closing so would we like to order.. seemed odd for a restaurant open from 7am - 11pm (reported on its website). The real case was that they were switching over to the lunch menu though this wasn't communicated at any point. So we ordered, eggs and spinach from the menu with mushrooms, "we don't do special orders".. the meals arrived and were really good. A bit of confusion on our part in that the eggs and spinach under the gluten free section of the menu wasn't gluten free bread but rather no bread.. still good. Later the waitress returned and asked if we wanted anything else. I asked for a fresh juice and was told that the kitchen had closed so no... not sure what was on offer other than coffee?! Great food ruined by terrible service, lots of similarly priced competitors in this strip that are far better. Hence, never to return!

Let down by attitude Wen.... Let down by attitude <br/><br/>Went for lunch with a few friends yesterday. Τhe style of the place was good but felt a little too cool. Ordered two pizzas (salami & the Italian sausage) both were amazing. The timing on food was fair but the staff were not interested in anything more than going through the motions. I will try again because the food was great.
Brendan
Great pizza spoilt by incessant wasps.
John1920son
Love The vibe. I have dined here 3 times now and love it... A local haunt the San Daniele pizza is my absolute favourite; Picante Pizza a close second. I came with a group of friends on Sunday night to find a buzzing atmosphere; usual friendly service and great Pizza's! We did a round of 5 pizza's; This time around one friend had the Pork as a main and it was fantastic... I can't fault it & am already thinking about the next visit!

Average. Went here on a Friday night, so I understand it is very busy- being in the industry myself.. But staff looked over worked. Service is quite bad. Had the mussel pasta which was very bland, and the eggplant pizza which I must say was excellent. Regardless, wouldn't come back.

Service needs work!. Went here with the girls on the weekend, waited 30mins for a table then 25mins to be served! only to be asked if we wanted water! the girls and I quickly ordered all our meals worried it will be another 30mins before someone will take notice of us again!. The food was good but after waiting that long and being completely ignored it took away the speciality of it.
Daniel Hillier
The staff and their attitude towards service is shocking! We had four wait staff serve us before we were even asked if we wanted a drink. When we got our beers, they were warm and we all know how good a warm beer tastes!<br/><br/>The food was ok and quick to come, but when we wanted another drink, that was near impossible! And when we finally did order them, they never turned up...<br/><br/>So much potential, but in all honesty, stay home and order a Pizza Hut pizza and crack open that bottle of red!!

Yummo. I've been to Baby a couple of times now and I have to say, each time has been a real treat. The food has been so tasty and consistent. Very creative and fresh food combinations. The pizzas have been authentic and full of flavour. Not to mention huge! Each time we try and pizza and pasta dish with various salads, leaving very little room for dessert, however each time we order something to close the evening with. I think all the servings are extremely generous. <br/>A number of people have commented on the service being inconsistent, but each time I've been to Baby I have been really impressed by the staff's attentiveness. Sure it's a busy place and staff are under pressure, but it's busy because it serves great food! <br/>I look forward to my next visit to Baby and I'll be sure to share this gem with more friends.
Kylie1234
Had lunch today at baby and is still so busy!! Food is fresh. Have been before when it first opened but the service seems to be better now. will be back for sure!!

Lunch Baby. Yesterday I experienced a wonderful lunch at Baby. Loved the buzzing atmosphere with so many people coming and going. The menu is full of tasty plates, it’s not too extensive but provides plenty of choice. And, all the dishes were mouthwateringly delicious. Have only good things to say about the waiting staff. They all knew their stuff and were friendly, amicable with a can do attitude. It was my first time and I’m definitely going back. Thanks Baby!
Amanda Powers
Feedme. Tried Baby the other night, best pizza i have ever had, authentic and good.<br/>despite what many have said about the service, my experience was good, they were all very friendly and helpful. Will definitely be heading back to Baby :)

Too cool for the waitstaff to do any work. We went for breakfast on a Saturday morning. After being seated and ordering coffee, it took 30 minutes for coffee to arrive. No newspapers were available, so my husband was sent down the road to the service station to buy some if he wanted to read one. When he returned, orders still hasn't been taken, so he had to chase down waitstaff who were more interested in gossiping, than working. When food arrived over an hour later it was great quality. Not worth the time though. Head to top paddock across the road instead!

Don't follow the crowd. Melbournians tend to have a sheep like tendency to pretend to enjoy what the other cool kids are doing. A crowd generates a crowd. <br/>We had visitors down from Sydney who has heard the buzz and couldn't be talked out if trying Baby. So after being told about the 45 min wait, we waited the mandatory hour and a half for a table ( go to the pub up the street for a drink The bar at baby is 2.5 metres wide). We finally got our seat, but you know when you go past being hungry, so we just ordered mains. They must have known we weren't that hungry as the pasta mains are tiny. The pizza looked authentic Italiano, my Pappardelle was very tasty (but small), my partner had the very average tasting Orecchiette, which featured more peas than pasta. <br/>Luckily we had a good conversation at the pre-dinner drinks up the road, because you can't hear yourself think in the food hall like surrounds of Baby. <br/>I don't generally line up for a meal, and now I know why. I'll leave that to the sheep.
Alx
Great Pizzas, really disappointing service. I have now been to Baby twice cannot fault the food, amazing produce, amazing variety of choice on the menu and beautiful pizzas.<br/>BUT......the service on both occasions have been disappointing. Arrogant staff who are doing you a favour by being there, slow to bring out food but quick to rush to clear the plates before you have finished the food on the plate. Then when we went to pay the cashier over charged us on our credit card and then could not work out the simple maths to change the mistake. <br/>Food is good but wont be going back again

So Delicious. New Favourite Restaurant! Went to Baby last week with 3 other people. We ordered the Salumi Board and Calamari to start as suggested by our amazing waitress Valentina. The produce was so fresh and flavoursome. We then shared the Ricotta Papardelle, Rigatoni Ragu and Prosciutto Pizza. All AMAZING!! The service was prompt and friendly and atmosphere is great. We all shared 2 Creme Caramels, to die for! Seriously, you must have this for dessert!
Dave
The pasta was unreal and this place is great for a meal with a few friends

Great night out - thank you.. I don't normally write reviews but after reading the write up’s on Baby I thought I should set the record straight. <br/><br/>I have been meaning to try Baby for some .. so after much anticipation we gave it a shot. Four of us arrived last night at 7:30pm thinking we would have to wait an hour for a table but managed to score a table straight away (My Tip - earlier in the week is best) <br/><br/>I'm not sure about the other reviews - (We, Melbourne diners can be very critical!) We found the staff helpful and friendly / ordered everything to share but my favorites by far were - beef Carpaccio; so tender just melts in your mouth - San Daniele pizza – delicious and the bucatini pasta - hands down one of the best pastas I’ve tried! (I could have eaten the whole thing!)<br/> <br/>Oh and don't leave without trying the tiramisu. (For someone who doesn't normally order desserts ... I did all right! :) <br/><br/>Thank you Baby for a great night out; wonderful ambience and reasonably prices.. We will be back.
JT
Far from good. The pizza is tasty, but some staff really need to smarten up. Good pizza is a dime a dozen in Melbourne and I'll be going elsewhere for mine.<br/>Our table of 4 spent over $260 and when we went to pay we were treated like idiots, unable to split the bill and told we had an attitude problem (they offer bill splitting and the resturant was dead at the time). <br/>The barman was rude and unhelpful.<br/>If you're looking for good pizza and good service head to Lygon St.
Craig
Hipster bollocks. Delicious pizza. Sufficiently arrogant staff. Service a real let down. If you like rude hipsters belittling you throughout an over-priced pizza this is definitely the place for you. Just dont go with more than one other person. They can split bills but only in half, not in thirds, despite no one else at the till. The upside is if you ask to split three ways one of the waitstaff will accuse you of having a bad attitude, slam your card down on the table and storm off. At which point you can always just walk out without paying. Still would not recommend.
Charlotte McFarland
Loved the food, but the staff were such a let down. They were all very bitchy... And that was just the male staff!
Keelin Slater
I had the most delicious food from this place. The ingredients are fresh and full of flavour. SO delicious i want to come here again and again
Greg
Smart Baby. I can sense a great deal of clever thinking behind this place - intelligence is behind the food, the layout, the location and the opening times. Baby also seems to be able to successfully date three people at once - Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner. It does all three meals equally well, each with its own unique vibe. The place looks great, and it's especially fun to sit at the bench and watch the food being made - you can't help but want to sample virtually everything! The place makes me feel like I've been whisked away to another place for an hour or two - maybe to new york or somewhere. One try and you'll be a regular!
JamTart
Delicious lunch, one of the best Italians I have experienced in Melbourne. We ordered one thing each from most of the menu sections which led to us having a perfectly balanced meal. Interesting wine list and good service too. Better than Chin Chin!
Lisamavr
Very average pizza. The prawn pizza was flooded with tomato passata and only had a few prawns. The margarita was ok but nothing amazing. +39 and Fratellinos in hawksburn leave this place for dead. Well and truly over hyped.
Alice Greenhill
Great food, however the customer service was very lacking. The general feeling of the restaurant is that you should be grateful to be eating there, rather than them grateful for your service.<br/><br/>6 of us arrived at 6pm on a Fri to an empty restaurant and were waited on by a very rude Italian man who walked off 2 times before we finished our order, us having to keep calling him back. He then messed up our drinks and my friend's gluten free order, all without apology and with very rude responses. He also rushed our meals and our bill with an obvious attitude to keep turnover high.
Hank
Average First Up Experience. My wife and I dropped in for some take away the other night from this place. First timer. <br/><br/>The girl taking the take away orders was very rude and abrupt. Saw her tell another guy ordering at the same time that the beer he wanted to have while waiting would have to be ordered at the bar across the other side of the restaurant and that he’d have to go order it and get it himself.<br/><br/>The pizza we ordered was ok. Nothing special. The coffee was very average. Maybe that’s why its cheap ? <br/><br/>Agree with other comments. The staff here are on the rude and flustered side. There are far better pizzeria places around Melbourne. <br/><br/>It was only take away, but not a great experience. Wont be going back.
Tim
Cheapest coffee. Can't beat the price - standard cups $2.20.<br/>It will be interesting to see how this place goes competing with Top Paddock directly across the road.
Fine Diner
Don't Bother. We attempted to eat at Baby on Tuesday night. The front of house woman was incredibly rude and was not at all fussed when we walked out. The staff are that up themselves and half of them look like they are about to go and watch a game of footy - its actually hard to work out who is staff and who are punters. I have eaten here once before and the service was diabolical. There were 6 of us at the table and we ordered pizzas and pasta to share with the table. 2 of the pizzas didn't turn up and our serve of pasta looked less than entree serve. I wanted to give Baby the benefit of the doubt but really Melbourne does not need another overrated snooty pizza shop.

Worst coffee in melb, pizza a close runner up. The place seems to be enjoying the fruits of a very well-backed older gentleman running the place if it's wall-to-wall yuppies are anything to go by, but don't let that fool you, unless sparse overpriced circles of flour with a dappling of ingredients not all that dissimilar from those on a dominos pizza are your thing (traditionally, this is a measure of the strength of the ingredients and process, but they've skipped that part).<br/><br/>Our entrees must've been left out in the cold before arriving to us a good 20 minutes, and I'm fairly sure they forgot to put the ingredients on the pizza.<br/><br/>Worst coffee in melbourne by a stretch - bitter (and not in the nice european way), burnt, watery, you're far better off with nescafe, but at some $2.20 they're not exactly hiding that fact.<br/><br/>Inside you have to scream to be heard, pair that with the horribly displaced decor that doesn't know what it's trying to be and the place resembles a badly repurposed 80's hospital ward in snow season. <br/><br/>And some of the male staff have an attitude that needs to be seen to be believed.<br/><br/>Sorry, for the prices these guys are charging and what they're giving, don't be fooled by the saturated press they've paid through the teeth for with money and favours from friends high up. Avoid.

Overrated. Ate there on Sunday for lunch. Sat outside and were told by the Maitre'd there were 2 waiters working out side who would look after us. After 10 minutes and no menus went and asked for menus, 5 minutes later a waitress came over and plonked about 10 bits of cutlery into a metal tin on our table and didn't acknowledge us. Finally caught a waitress' eye as she went to walk past and asked to order, seemed annoyed that we were only ordering one pizza between the two of us. No serviettes given to us. Pizza was nice and coffee cheap, staff terrible.
Chef Mlo
Excellent.. Staying nearby, I tried Baby a few times. First for coffee - good and their take-aways are $2.20, when I had a pastry, a huge tasty escarcot.<br/>Pizzas for dinner another night were great. Do try the potato and rosemary. Different and delicious.
Coffee On The M1
Great place. I love the breakfasts at Baby. It's great to sit at the bar, watching the business around you, while drinking great coffee and, of course, scoffing the donuts with chocolate dipping sauce....fantastic stuff.

Don't believe the hype !. Went to this venue that's all the rage, the fit out is nice the staff attentative but that's where it ends. <br/>Ordered the rigatoni ragu , it was quite bland and somewhat dry then the dessert of apple pie came along and that was horrible. I reckon Mrs Marples baked that pie back in the prohibition era it was that dry. <br/>Overall for all the hoopla and positive reviews this place has received I don't think it's worth all the attention it gets.

Wow! Great dining experience with interstate guests. Helpful friendly staff and terrific menu. A+

Overrated. Arrived at about 5pm on Sunday evening (7 Jan) for a quick dinner. No wait for a table when we arrived which was nice after all the talk of huge queues.<br/><br/>Ordered three entrees being the polenta, grilled mortadella and sardines share plates. After we'd ordered, we were told they were out of polenta already for the day. When the remaining two dishes arrived, the sardines dish was really nice. However, the grilled mortadella dish was pretty bad - it was hunks of mortadella with pickled onions on top. The sweetness of the onions with the salty prosciutto had nothing to balance it out and was pretty sickly after a few mouthfuls. <br/><br/>For the mains, we ordered two of the pizzas: the fried pizza and the prosciutto pizza. Even with the place being 75% full, they managed to forget our pizza orders and we subsequently had an hour wait between finishing the entrees and receiving the mains. When the pizzas finally arrived, temperature wise they were lukewarm at best. This really destroyed the flavour of the fried pizza, which became like eating lukewarm cardboard. Otherwise, there was nothing to write home about with these pizzas.<br/><br/>Finally, make sure you have a bottle of water handy for after. It's one of the first times in Melbourne I've had to skol a couple of litres of water upon leaving to get rid of the salty taste in my mouth. <br/><br/>Honestly, save your time and money and go elsewhere (bad enough that I actually took the time to write a review).
PS
What a disappointment, we went for brunch and firstly had to go up and get our own water and then after a long wait for the orders I be taken we had to Get up and ask for our order to be taken twice and then when the food finally came out it took over 30mins between the first meal came until the lat one came and there was no apology for the delay. There seems to be no communication between staff and those that are meant to be taking orders are too into themselves to actually care about the customers. The food was ok but will not be going back.
The Unknown Critic
It's funny how everything does a full circle. Fit out is standard marble, timber finishes neutral tones. No doubt it cost a bomb but nicely done. Food: clean simple produce driven Italian . Good value for money. Service: a touch fawlty toweresque but attentive.. Sometimes a negative can be a positive! And the girls in the kitchen , hey it's true what they say a way to a mans heart is through his stomach.
Mikele Rizzi
For the people that wrote this is the best pizza in Melbourne I really want to say that this is actually the worst I had. Dominos pizza is way better. And in Italian. Really bad food. Appalling In fact. This is for people that usually don't go out.
Tess
Amazing food and atmosphere with chirpy, helpful service. Will be back!

Great service and decor, poor food. Service was excellent, staff were very attentive and friendly. The ambience was great, the whole place was buzzing and full of energy. Well designed interior with plenty of natural light coming through. The decor was understated cool. The food however, was a letdown. Very salty pizzas and entrees. Not very flavoursome - could use more herbs. I've had much better pizzas from less hyped restaurants.

Good Service, underwhelming food.. Having been to most of the renowned pizza places in melbourne, 400 Gradi, DOC, Pizza E Birra, Pizza Religion, etc... I was hoping that Baby would live up to the hype. My current favourite is DOC as their pizzas have a good thin base, good quality ingredients and flavours to match.<br/><br/>I think the owners of Baby have taken the reviews about the bad service on board as I found the staff quite attentive and friendly. The food however wasn't so great. Dining with a large group I was able to sample quite a bit of the extensive menu we had the:<br/><br/>Tomato salad with mozzerella - Good variety of tomatoes however the cheese was over salted.<br/>Fritto misto - Nice fresh seafood however a little over seasoned.<br/>Meatballs - Good napoli sauce and mince. <br/><br/>The pizzas themselves were a bit of a let down and for some reason were over seasoned. My friends and I found them to be too salty. I think in the case of one of the pizzas it may be because it had quite a few cured meats on it. The pizzas also had a lot of cheese on them. I seem to find that most of these pizza places try not to over power the pizza with cheese however Baby goes the other way and pretty much smothers the pizzas with cheese. A positive would be that the base was quite nice and crispy.<br/><br/>For dessert we had:<br/><br/>Doughnuts - Pretty much run of the mill<br/>Creme Caramel - Quite nice however didn't seem to have set properly as it had the texture of custard. Had good flavour though.<br/>Tiramisu - Nice and moist but didn't have enough cream layers so it felt like eating a coffee sponge cake.<br/><br/>Overall, I would say that the experience was quite underwhelming. The service was good but the food didn't live up to all the hype. I'll still be sticking to my reigning favourite - DOC. = )

Where are the Italians?. Terrible "trattoria" I'd like to remember trattoria meaning cheap resturant not a place where a jug of wine costl $ 40, is insane! Absent service, insipid pizzas, ugly presentation, unbalanced menu and expensive. Crislukas group has a great marketing office. I d like say to him is not enough have a italian chef or waiters to be a Italian restaurant, and please is Montalcino non montalchino.
Mad For Food
This side of Church St needed an injection of life and Baby was bursting at the seams with Prahan types vying for a spot at this new eatery. Food is good but safe and place has a real energy (albeit a bit loud). Highlight was the ricotta pappardelle which was light and creamy. Serving sizes are generous and well priced for this part of town.
Chefman
Well this place is an absolute joke!! Riding on the wave of sister restaurant chin chin absolutely nothing about about it is any good, from the bland entrees to the awful and under cooked pizza to the beer in a can and the shocking service!!
Nicole Power
Good. I just had dinner at Baby tonight. I had a pizza which was a good size with fresh ingredients - base was nice. Not in the same league as D.O.C pizzas and toppings were good but not as good as Pizza e Birra. Apple pie for dessert was delicious though! Very loud inside, not a good place for an intimate dinner but overall I enjoyed myself and will be a returning customer - I will try the pasta next time.
Todd
Nice!. So I had heard mixed reviews, but gave Baby Pizza a go... and it didn't let me down. First of all, the food was amazing - my friend and I shared two pizzas over lunch and they were both great. The first was a burrata (south Italian cheese) and the second a brocolini... the pinot gris was tasty and the interior of this place has been fitted out very nicely! One of the BEST things about Baby was the service. Our waiter, the cutest Italian guy did not stop smiling the entire time we were there, gave valid recommendations, and knew what he was doing. Very attentive staff and good food - I've already told my friends who had bad experiences at Baby to get back there because this place is fantastic.

The food is brilliant. Pity the service let the experience down. Slow, sloppy and uninterested staff.

Bellisimo Baby. Sister restaurant of the fab chin chin which has rocked Melbourne since it opened has a playmate. Well Baby is simply put beautiful . The food especially the hand made pizzas are superb . I love the fried pizza with fresh burratta and the zucchini flower pizza as my two favourites . Actually having now been three times I can safely say the pizzas are by far the best in Melbourne. Ps guys listen up each time we have waited no longer than a few minutes to get in even though the place is absolutely pumping . The staff are fab, so friendly and baby is so so so cheap . Love love love my new baby. Bellisimo xxxx

Pizzas so salty and the staff were a little useless!
Irene
Dinner. If you are hunger I would not recommend this restuarant. Main course was what I would have as a snack. Large plate with small portion of food. Over priced for what it is. Left there after three course meal still hungry and I normally do not have entree and sweets. We would definitely not go there again. Don't mind paying for good food but this was a joke.
Jake Berk
Surprised by the low score on here. What's not to like about this place? Grab a spot at the bar, order as you like, soak in the atmosphere and theatre of it all and enjoy! Food is simple but superb, as it should be. Price point is a huge bonus too. Mind you probably not for the faint hearted as the noise levels can be deafening at times.

Long wait, good food.. Myself and two friends went to dinner at Baby on Saturday night. At 7pm we were told that the wait for a table would be an hour. We expected this so we went down the street for a drink. After an hour we ventured back to the restaurant. After an hour and fifteen minutes waiting I went to check the status of our table and was told (somewhat rudely) by the front of house staff that I should not bother asking, but rather 'just wait for a text.' <br/>We were finally seated after one and a half hours.<br/>Besides the annoyance that getting a table was, the food arrived quickly and was really tasty. The waitstaff were attentive and friendly also.<br/>I'd go back, but only on a week night when its (apparently) less busy.
ZTTP
Definately not child friendly... or adult friendly. Granted 5pm on a friday is not a great time to eat with children... even if they are VERY used to fine dining, however I have never come across a more unwelcoming restaurant. Sadly, because we will NEVER go back, the food was good. But not good enough to be treated so rudely. <br/>Order slowly because our food came out so quickly we had to ask them not to send anything else. And don't pay your bill unless you are already standing and on your way out the door.
Fussy One
Great Service and Delicious Food. Thank you to the staff at baby for the amazing service and delicious food, I definately recommend this restaurant to everyone.<br/>The overseas vistor from Europe said this is the most authentic italian food she has tasted through out Australia. And was very impressed with the service and food at Baby.
Mirandafood
Very impressive baby. The new Baby is a very impressive place. like every new baby thers a few issues to iron out but overall its a real hit. My friends agree that its hits most of the button youd expect from the chin chin guys.<br/>The pizza we have fungi with tellagio and the really exquisite egg and guancalie were like nothing ive exeprinced before. They have a red hot team from itlay pumping out clasics and some surpirses.<br/>we also realy enhjoyed the delicoisu salads my fav the tuna and the caprese really like the little olives nice touch. The service is what youd expecy top notch and energetic considering the place was packed they really looked after us. All this for less than $30 bucks each. cant wait well done baby
Katie
Baby Boo!. I cant complain about the food. It was amazing. <br/>Service on the other hand.... I dont like being rushed and asked 'So are you having dessert or what' whilst still having a full glass of wine! Clearly rushing to turn tables. I think a uniform (not just an apron) would help know who should be serving. Some staff's dressing a bit rough!
Meat Meet Meat
Bad from start to finish. Couldn't figure out if the waiters were actually working or simply patrons strolling aimlessly around the place. Eventually we were able to order. Then our order came out staggered (we had specified we weren't sharing). When the other meals did come they were incomplete. When I complained the manager said they "promoted sharing". I tried to explain that a pizza and pasta menu does not immediately imply sharing. He did take off my $20 entree sized, incomplete pasta (eternally grateful). If Baby does want to be different perhaps they should let the customers know because at the moment if looks like 5000 other places I can eat in Melbourne, oh but with a higher price tag and zero customer service.

But it's called baby "PIZZA". TAKE AWAY PIZZA???<br/><br/>The pizza's are so small and have topping that only covers 1/2 the pizza base. the pizzas flop around in the box because the boxes are too big. I orderred 3 pizza's for 3 people and it wasn't enough.<br/><br/>will never order pizza from here again, I'd rather go to the Royal Saxon for Pizza - so much nicer, bugger and same if not cheaper price!<br/><br/>Prior to this take-away pizza disaster, I had eaten in on a thursday night, after a 2 hour wait. admittedly just after it opened, so i was prepared to wait a little. Food was great (didn't order any of the pizza's - trust me you will be disappointed if you do!) and so were the cocktails. The portion sizes were a little small, and some dishes had odd numbers of small pieces so was hard to share. a bit noisy, but good experience overall. would go again, after the hype has died down.<br/><br/>I think the food menu is much better than the pizza menu, although it's called Baby "PIZZA".

Had a quick dinner after waiting 30 min for a table. The pizza was nice but a little tasteless. I would like to go back & try the pasta it looked really good.

Great dinner and drinks. Had the meatballs with some sides and doughnuts for desert with coffee. All<br/>Great, with top service by a lady with a tattoo sleeve.

Second Chance. If at first it doesn't deliver try again....Well a big fail on all elements...food poor at best ...presentation sloppy ...service speedy and completely impassioned...ambiance ...visual great ...acoustically shocking and value just ok on the basis we didn't stop at for quick snack on the way home. Finally the joy of Melbourne and its amazing choice for FAB food means my family and myself have endless choice without ever having to consider Baby again!

Second time lucky. We tried Baby again after a disastrous first attempt, much better this time! Had the polenta, calamari, sardines, funghi pizza and cavalo e piselli. Very nice. Staff still need a bit of direction (un-cooped chickens come to mind) but overall a much better dining experience. Apparently the trick is to get in when it's quiet, before the staff are put under pressure and the wheels fall off.<br/><br/><br/>-----19 Nov, 2012-----<br/><br/>Disappointing. Stuffed peppers with absolutely no flavor whatsoever, still full of seeds, horrifically oily mortadella, pizzas with barely any toppings on them, watery and ridiculously salty pasta. The tira misu was good, as were the bomboloni, staff clearly need coffee making training and an attitude adjustment (tall Italian guy, lose the air of self importance, it doesn't become you). Hopefully just teething problems though, but we won't be heading back for a while.

Blown away twice. Went for dinner to Baby and was blown away how good this new place is. Everything about baby hit the mark. Every restaurant should be like this. The pizzas were without question the best i ever had and the pollo insalata was superb. But the best was yet to come. Our wonderful waitress told us that they're open for brekky so the next day i took everyone for what was an ridiculously great breakfast. Didn't really think they could pull off an Italian style brekky but believe you me it was fantastic and so damm cheap. $2.20 for coffee thought it was a mistake. My fritata was tops and my friend had the gluten free low GI omelette with asparagus. this was execllent. see you soon baby!!

Good quick service without being rushed. Great food and reasonably good value. Had to wait 50 mins for table but it was 7pm sat night so we expected it so all good. Will return. P.s terribly slow coffees in the morning however

Boom! Better than Italy and I haven't even been!

Fantastic food and vibe. Couldn't believe my luck living in Richmond my friends and I have been desperate for a great Italian restaurant and baby baby is this it. We hit baby as a group on Friday had a few drinks outside while we waited for our table then within minutes we got a great seat at the food bar. This place rocks cheap and so good can't believe just how much fun this place is. We had a great night with beautiful food and great cocktails. I really love this little baby
Annabanana
Enjoy. Had a great meal at baby while nothing was different from other italian cafe it was by far the best. simple fresh flavours good wine list friendly staff but the noise was terrible.

As good as it gets. Went to Baby on sunday night with some friends. I know the same people own Chin Chin which is a fantastic place. Well they struck gold again. We all agreed this was as good the famous chin chin . everything was spot on the service, the vibe, the prices of course and as for the food. Well its pretty obvious that the best Italian food is simply produce driven. At Baby they have got it spot on. <br/>The pizza we had was absolutely the best we actually ordered 4 pizzas between us each one was excellent. The was broccollini our fav, with the spicy salami close second. <br/>We shared a few pastas and salads. What a great combo. Most places dont get that Italian food can be more than pizza and pasta. The salads were fresh and of the highest quality. My tuna was two slices of seared tuna on beautiful light salad with a fresh lemon olive oil dressing. We drank and ate like kings for less than $50 a head couldn't believe the bill. Oh ps dont go without having the apple pie simply just like my mother used to make. love love you baby will be back in fact this week.

Being big fans of Chin Chin and even bigger fans of Italian food, my boyfriend and I were super excited to try Baby out, but unfortunately it was just one big letdown. Although we were lucky enough to be seated straight away (at the bar), the service was incredibly slow. Wine was lovely but the beer was served in a can for some bizarre reason. As for the food: we had the calamari and cold meat selection for entrees. Both were uninspiring, and not at all worth what they are priced at. We had to pay an extra $5.50 for one disgusting, oily, shaved piece of Bufala Mozarella. For mains we had the Porchetta and Capriccioca pizzas, which although well-priced were let down by the sloppiness with which they seemed to have been assembled. By the time we finished the pizzas, our second round of drinks (ordered after entrees) still hadn't arrived. Probably because our waitress was too busy trying to milk tips out of other customers to put the order in. This might have been forgiven had it been a bustling Saturday night, but it was in the dying hours of a Monday night service. We didn't even bother with coffee and dessert. It seems this place is destined to ride on the coat-tails of Chin Chin until people start to realise it's nowhere near the same standard. Pity.

BAM!. BAM BAM is this the best gig in town ? without a doubt . killer pizza and the best mozzarella and salumi platter. My friends had the Tuna crudo then followed up with pasta ragu, and pollo insalta, unbelievable . While i was knocking away of the nero d'avelo from the tap we munched away of the best most affordable Italian food I've eaten in melbourne.<br/>We ate like kings for $44 each. The place was packed to rafters and the staff were really friendly and helpful. i already love this place so much can wait get back and quick
FredericL
Loved it!. Went to Baby for lunch today. Me and a few mates shared the Pollo Insalata, pizzas and the Rigatoni. Food was amazing, reminded me of when i was in Italy. The girl in the beanie that sat us down, was very helpful. She attended to us several times when there were no wait staff available. And to top it off she was absolutely gorgeous! All in all a very memorable experience and we will defiantly be back baby!

Absolutely Dreadful compared to chin chin. We all were expecting great food, vibe, service (forget the service - shocking!!!) it's disappointing. Pizza's are small and i could make them at home and whats with the starters!? Do small I need glasses to see what's in it! To top it off we had a disturbing waiter which was unbeleivably arrogant and cold, he seemed to be some sort of manger (Italian) Oh well, no thanks. Stay with d.o.c I say!

Incredibly bad. Gosh.. was soo looking forward to this, knowing that th team behind CHI CHIN were behind it. not going to go into it, but a MULTITUDE of very bad mistakes (no water, asked three times, couldnt find the wine we ordered, no cutlery in the bucket thing on the table and had to ask twice, pizza not as described.. caramelised tomatoes? no sausage on my pizza? good prices though, arrancini were dreadful, staff very attitudy (italian.....) and the fit out in general very boring considering the $$ spent and appointment of the new 'coolest kids on the block" POI.... pppahhhh... what evs... bad guys. NOISE was out of control and the louder people talked the louder they put the ridiculous music up - even though they have sepnt decent A$$ on BOSE - it was unbearable.... we will try again - should ALWAYS give places a couple of goes.... but after all the hype... not impressed! Would love to have sampled the food however I gave up after 25 minutes because a waiter did not come my way. Most disappointing.
Pasta Please
Average. Absolutely LOVE chin chin but Baby doesn't even come close. Service was poor and the wait staff had attitude. Visited during lunch so it wasn't full and still had to ask for water several times - is it that hard? Waiter also spilt my wine over the table & hardly cleaned it. Certainly didn't wow us.

After hearing ok things about this new cafe a group of us thought we would try it out. Going on a less busy day (Tuesday) we thought was the best option. We were greeted by a rude man at the door with poor English skills. You'd think the would put their best Staff on the front....clearly not. The food was ok. We ordered 3 pizzas and a pasta dish and meatballs. The pizza came out quick but the other dishes took forever. Defiantly a let down. With all the other amazing cafes around Richmond I see the hype of baby dying very quick. The staff had no idea what they were doing and granted that it is still new, it shouldn't be that difficult. All in all, I won't be recommending this place to any more friends.

PRICE RI$E. Haven't been here for a few weeks but was disappointed tonight that the prices have risen considerably. Some are as much as $5 more than before, some only $2. I was told that their suppliers have put their prices up (probably just to get their contract) so all meals are a lot more expensive. Maybe they are worried about the cafe which has opened across the road. Pizza and Pasta was very good despite all this. Will go again but maybe not as often. Lucky we overdid it when they opened so the need to go there is not as great. Staff at takeway register was very helpful.<br/><br/><br/>-----08 Nov, 2012-----<br/><br/>Numerous visits. Well we have given BABY a good working over . The food is great and prices are very reasonable. Tonight we ordered caprese do bufala I told the waiter it was much smaller from the first week and I was not impressed. We also ordered the patate al forno,it was terrible, the potatoes had been precooked way too much and the roasting wasn't much better. The paccheri al porro was very good. It's way too noisy still and tonight they didn't play any music because of complaints. Fix the noise, keep up the standard that you started with and you will be worth visiting. Go early or late if you want a table, well a visit if you are a local. The move you on quickly after you have finished the meal so go next door to PA for a quite drink, still my favourite.

Rude Dude. What a shame. We were so looking forward to eating here. There was a mix up with the lady at the door, she told us to sit down, we were promptly approached by the Italian waiter who asked us with big attitude "Can I help you with something?". At this point we realised there was a mistake and apologised. He continued to tell us that they were very busy and this table was not for us and could we please get up. Oh and of course he mentioned there was a 2 hour wait if we wanted to eat. <br/>Now, maybe it was his English, maybe he was not dealing well with the busy night (there were only a handful of people actually waiting for tables), but it CANNOT kill him to be nice. All he had to say was "sorry guys, I believe there's been a mix up - we actually have this table reserved but if you would like me to put you on the list, I can let you know as soon as a table becomes available".<br/>The Korean BBQ we had that night was, however, delicious!

Avoid Bad Baby. Tried this place twice to give it a real go. First time I tired it the service was slow and they tried to charge for items that weren't on the bill. Pasta was oiley, small and over priced for the serving. Second time ordered a coffee and tart. Waiter was really rude and abrupt. Saw the chef using his hands to pick up the tart as there no tongs. When I questioned the waiter on this he replied in a smartass way and said 'the chef cooks with their hand, anyway' and just walk away instead of explaining politely. Plenty of pasta and pizza places in the south yarra/Richmond area, so don't let baby spit the dummy at you!
Sammy
Baby is amazing got the waiter called Collin to order for us and chose us the most amazing meal highly recommend he had a sexy Italian accent too ;)

It's No Chin Chin. After LOVING Chin Chin was really looking forward to visiting Baby. I can't comment on the pizza however breakfast was disapointing.<br/><br/>Ordered a mushroom piadine, received sauteed mushrooms on toast. <br/><br/>Organic Eggs listed all over the menu - queried where the eggs come from, Greens Eggs are lovely, however they're not organic.<br/><br/>Jonesy's Organic Milk listed on the menu - Jonesy's Mikl is also lovely, also not organic.
Ben
GOOD ATMOS BUT REALLY NOISY. We tried Baby last friday night and was impressed. There's a nice buzz to the place and menu is exciting but the venue is just way too noisy - people screaming at the bar, everyone shouting to be heard and overall a bit too much. I've no problem with bustling restaurants and loud music but the acoustics in this room just don't work.
DinerDasia
Maybe Baby just has great PR. Ordering takeaway at baby pizza is not the answer for an easy night on the couch. Firstly you call and order a pizza and the pollo salad. After telling the broken English person on the other end of the line (I'm sure she adds to the Italian authenticity, yet is completely useless)) 5 times pollo salad not the pollo cacciatore. She tells us 15 minutes. 35 mins ticks by and the pizza now sits on the bench ready for another 25 until our pasta and what we ordered salad are ready. Opening the tiny takeaway container to reveal the pollo cacciatore! Hopelessly we treck back as extremely over the poor service, she then try's to charge us again for the salad. I know it's cool to wait in line and sit on a milk crate. But perhaps this baby should stay in its booties and not market itself as quite the stiletto wearer yet. I don't think we are the only ones who will spit the dummy here.

Don't be thinking your coming here to get the Chin Chin service and standard of food. Very vague service, pizza? I've consistently had better $4 pizzas at lucky coq/ bimbos. Totally over priced for the standard of food and service at the moment, hoping this is just teething problems because its a great concept and locations and great atmosphere!

Long wait but not averse to a drink at PA's until you're up. Solid without being spectacular, pizzas did the job, service not the best but probably not what they're about esp being so popular

I hope dinner is better then breakfast. I think I missed something with the look of this place? Is it suburban kitch? Why have they covered up the windows and why is everything the same colour? Unimaginative food and pretty average service. So disappointed, I really wanted to love this place.
Selina
Food was above average but the service lets you down. Give it a few months I.e. once it's got it's feet.

Chaos. Breakfast for seven on a Saturday morning was chaos at this recently opened eatery. The apparent successor to Pearl Cafe, this does not live up to its predecessor.<br/><br/>While the food was ok (five of seven dishes were excellent while two were below average) it was the service which lets Baby down. Two extra main dishes showed up at our table unordered and one which was originally ordered was 20 minutes behind all the others. Two orange juices took 45 minutes to arrive but showed up on the bill six times.<br/><br/>The meal ended with 45 minutes of having $60 in overcharges removed from the bill.<br/><br/>Until the service is sorted out, Baby deserves a miss.

Packed!. This restaurant is obviously benefiting from all the recent hype surrounding its opening. It was absolutely packed on friday night! Arrived at 6.30 and had to wait 50 minutes for a table for 2. There isn't a waiting area which is a bit of a pain but luckily there's a pub a couple of doors down where we could go for a drink first. when we finally got a table i ordered the sardegna cocktail (mixed berry liqueur, gin, lemon and palm sugar) which was delicious if you're into girly cocktails! In terms of food we decided to share a few dishes - the broccolini pizza (broccolini, gorgonzola and pancetta), rabbit braised in white white and peas and the sautéed green beans in tomato sauce. The food was all very tasty and incredibly filing. Despite this i persisted in getting dessert as well and ordered the apple pie which i thoroughly enjoyed. The service was alright but very hectic and i definitely got the vibe they were trying to rush us out as soon as we'd finished eating. So i definitely wouldn't recommend for a leisurely relaxed dining experience. However, overall i was pretty happy with Baby Pizza :)

Where to start.......started with a 2 hour wait for a table, not to mention being ignored while waiting outside in the cold drinking their expensive red wine. If it wasn't for the fact that it was the day before derby day I would have left after waiting for 30mins.<br/><br/>Eventually after 2hrs we were seated and proceeded to eat which was much to my dissapoinment. In all honesty I would eat at D.O.C. 10 times over before ever contemplating coming here again!!!!!!

Went on Halloween night the place was PACKED. Had to wait half an hour for a table which normally I wouldn't do but sitting outside with a drink was amazing with the lighted trees and the staff were so friendly!!! The food was so so tasty, we had the arancini balls entree, rabbit chicken and calamari for the mains= rabbit was very good first time I've had it and ill definitely look out for it again! Chicken was also apparently very good and the calamari was small (entree size) but so tasty!! I have to admit we saw the pizzas go past and were immediately jealous- definitely getting those next time! The desserts (for I'm a dessert girl) were AAHHHMAZING. All round a great place to go- whether just for dinner, takeaway, or before going out! Will definitely become a favourite on my list!

The Baby has arrived!. I have been waiting for a new Italian Restaurant to open and here it is. Great Food, reasonable prices, service a little sketchy, only downside is the noise level. Don't come here for an intimate dinner and chat, you cannot hear a thing above the constant buzz. This is a place to eat and run
Lily Brougham
Best food! Can't get enough- been 3 days in a row. I can't wait to try the breakfast menu- looks amazing. Highly recommend that calamari, the mushroom pizza and the pasta with the peas and broad beans! Also 2.20 coffee- jackpot!

If you are going to run around town telling people how Richmond has no good Italian restaurants, you better back it up with good food. Good looking venue, horrible service. Food<br/>Just ok.

Baby oh baby. Monday lunch the place was packed to rafters and jumping like a new baby.I sat at the very cool salumi bar and soaked up the energy. I cant really begin to tell how good this place is im so excited. I started with a little salumi and quite possibly the best selection of buffalo ricotta and mozz I've ever tasted. the chefs told me its made daily and locally wow! now for the pizza, the zuchini flower with anchovy was a standout. this cost $16 yep i repeat $16 in fact most pizzas are $15. ok all up the best pizza in town and the best value in town and probably the best resto in town . only downside is i couldn't eat more. YUM

Lovely. Sat at the bar, service was great. Had ear shaped pasta with broad beans and peas and my girlfriend had spaghetti. We shared a margherita. Everything was delicious, food very tasty, really good pizza. The guy constantly yelling out "service" just ruined it all, it was constant like a dog barking. If he will be quiet we'll be back!

Great new local. Have seen Baby taking shape over the last few months and was itching to try it and wasn't disappointed on Saturday night of the opening weekend. The place was pumping, only had to wait 15 mins for a table. Pizza was good size, great tasty toppings, nice wine list, and the best part was the Lemon Tart. I've had some tarts in my time, but this takes the cake. I want it in an IV drip whilst I'm sleeping, it's that good :) Do yourself a favour and visit the Baby.

Best pizza in town already. Wow Wow and double Wow. Finally a pizza joint in Melbourne that not only delivers fantastic quality but doesn't try to eye gouge it's customers. Forget $20+ for pizzas here the pies go for around 15 bucks and boy do they deliver , if there's a better potato pizza in the city please let me know where !! We tried 3 pizzas between 2 and they were all great , and the fit out is amazing , can't wait to go back to see how the rest of the menu shakes out..<br/>Freaking unbelievable !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
George
Very affordable priced, food is amazing!. We eat 5 dishes from the menu, I couldn't pass the basil buffalo and tomato salad, and oh my god, the tomatoes were a mixed variety of cherry etc, they could be some of the best tomatoes I've had in a restaurant, I don't like olives, but the little olives in this dish were just right for it, so I ate them happily. Next we had share plates of meatballs on polenta and Napoli sauce, this was good, the Napoli was rich and flavoursome.better than the tomato base one usually gets in Italian restaurants these days. We had the stuffed bell peppers next, followed by strips of polenta covered in various condements. Both described as small starter dishes, and, both as good as the previous plates, but for me, the salad and meatballs were my favourite. We had coffee, lavazza, which, I found to be excellent, a surprise considering the place was packed, and the staff hadn't been on the job long..... This could be the new benchmark for me. We avoided the pizza, thinking we could try it another time, but the people next to us ordered it, and it looked good, and smelt amazing, all seemingly hand prepared ingredients? There were staff everywhere, bustling about with pastas, pizzas and drinks. All seemed very friendly, and really happy to be there. The menu is big, I can't work out how they prepared and served a full house so effectively, it was impressive to see. <br/><br/>The space is a great improvement on the old establishment it replaces, bigger, and more inviting. Very comfortable surroundings.<br/><br/>Finally, I should add, my girlfriend is gluten intolerant, and turned up expecting to be able to at best eat lettuce, we of course chose with her needs in mind, but in an Italian pizza joint, they have provided a huge selection of gluten free options. <br/><br/>To sum up, quality dining experience, excellent produce, fun atmosphere, and, surprising, VERY affordable prices! We're coming back, no doubt..... This place is going to cause a stir!
Thegrazingpanda
Baby had a great atmosphere and vibe, service was fantastic – our water was always topped up and it was easy to find a waiter if we needed anything else. The food is fresh and has the home cooked taste and feel to it, which will definitely make you forget the wait.<br/>

Monday night and it’s packed. Got to be good right? Operates the same as Chin Chin in that it takes no bookings. This is probably because it is from the masterminds of Chin Chin itself! We started with a beautiful bottle of chianti while we waited half an hour for a table at the bustling bar. Stage night started perfectly with a beautiful cured meat platter with the softest buffalo mozzarella cheese and warm baked focaccia. We let Fred choose the pizza since he’s Italian and should, in theory, know better than us! He chose the Melanzane pizza which is topped with fior de latte, San marzano tomatoes, buffalo mozzarella, thinly sliced eggplant and a little chilli. Bellissimo! I chose the beef carpaccio salad to piece the meal together. It was beautiful. To finish we ordered the salted caramel pizza. It took forever to come out, I actually had to remind the server and I do think they had forgot. I wasn’t impressed when we finally got it. I don’t think it rang true to salted caramel. It wa

Baby is certainly another winner like Chin Chin, bringing some energy back to Italian eateries. As well as bringing some additional vibrancy to Richmond, which has some classy places like Union Dining, but mostly just boring quick and easy options. Baby is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, with the breakfast menu offering some modern Italian twists on classic dishes.

Baby has found its home in the space once occupied by Pearl on Church St Richmond. The alfresco area is filled with trees in lovely planter boxes and red metal chairs and tables with the signature Vespa parked out the front. Would be a lovely place to sit on a mild summer night, but tonight we head inside to the cool air-conditioning, past that famous neon sign.

Like how Chin Chin offers the "Feed Me!" banquet, Baby does the same for $66 per person and I was happy to permit the restaurant to make the hard choices for us.

I would have loved to have loved you Baby. It could have been great. Don’t get me wrong, it wasn’t bad, just wasn’t fantastic. In a city where food is king, you have to excel. Baby you’ve got a hot brother so you’ll continue to pull, but I don’t think we will be seeing each other any time soon.<br/>
Expensive Delicious Habit.
I was extremely excited to finally make a trip to Baby last night. For those not in the know, Baby is owned by the genius behind famed Chin Chin, so I was interested to see if skill in running a good Thai restaurant could translate into running a stellar italian joint. So that I don't leave you in suspense for the next 1000 words, the answer is yes.

With the first bite, came an extreme sense of satisfaction, knowing that every other bite to follow would be delicious. The flavours of the cheeses and the wild mushrooms were a great match.

The food had room for improvement, however was still up to a good standard. Given that they’ve only been open for a few months it’s not fair to judge them too harshly. I’ll definitely revisit once they’ve had a bit of time to find their feet.

Another new cafe in Richmond which is much needed, this time from the owner of Chin Chin. Baby Cafe & Pizzeria is housed in the old Pearl Restauarant 631-633 Church St, Richmond. I've been now a couple of times since it first opened last week and am still deciding whether I like the place or not.. The interior is urban and the ceiling has the unfurnished look. As you walk in, there is a casual sitting area around the sandwich bar and then there is the main dining room. Both times I went was for lunch and the place was packed and you could hardly hear each other across from the table. We ordered the Kingfish Carpaccio which was a nice starter and very fresh. The Calamari was a standout, was text book perfection. Only negative thing was that there wasn't more on the plate. We also had the Prosciutto Salad with Buffalo Mozarrela, Pea, Mint and Shaved Paramsen. This was light and each component worked so well. Again, I think it was slightly on the small side given that the price was $19.50

Chris Lucas and the team behind highly successful Chin Chin are in action, and these guys know what they're doing. I arrived here spontaneously after driving past and deciding to duck in. I was warmly greeted at the door and made to feel welcome - then offered a stool at the bar. My first impression was Baby Pizza is chic but also homely. Racy and rustic. Across the bar I could see the chefs in action. Culinary theatre. The restaurant was packed and the noise levels rising with lively conversation.
Let Me Feed You
Baby is pretty good, the food is delicious (if a tad pricy), and if you like to feel like you eat at cool, trendy places, then this is the place for you.

The man behind Chin Chin has opened up a new Italian restaurant called Baby Pizza, where Pearl used to be in Richmond. Even though service only started a couple of days ago, the crowds are already onto it... It has Southside-affordable food (pizzas are all under $20), pumping music, a fantastic drinks list and an approachable interior with some amusing quirks.

I ducked into Baby Pizza on a sunny Sunday evening for a quick post-pub/staving off a hangover dinner with friends.
FoodieAboutTown
Baby Pizza is not as bad little local to have, they do a great coffee and some very delectable pizzas. Keeping it all very much in the Italian way, there are pastas, pizzas, salads and snackable entrees including arancini, calamari, polenta chips and more. Salads are loaded with buffalo mozzarella, San Daniele prosciutto or shaved parmesan and pizzas come in all the best flavours PLUS you can order a tin of Agostino anchovies on the side – yes!!
FoodieAboutTown
The much awaited next venture and update to the old Pearl location in Richmond has not failed to deliver! We manage to snaffle one of the last seats in the house and we get to look over the antipasto bar as the guys are doing their thing. The fit out is gorgeous! Very cool but comfortable, very chic without pretention. There are some luscious accents flying around the place and it only adds to the feeling that we are somewhere fabulous on a little holiday!! The menu is huge, there is antipasto, boards of beautiful wafer thin cured meats, insalate, salads bursting with fresh herbs and leaves, there is ragu, cheese, meatballs and ofcourse pizza! Pizza choices are varied with but traditional toppings, plenty of ‘fior di latte’, ‘san marzano tomatoes’, ‘fresh basil’ and a touch of chilli, sausage, prosciutto and parmesan! I have a theory that the best best of any place is the Margherita, if they can do it well you know anything else you eat there will be fabulous!! Sensational – fior di la

Baby is a fun place to dine with a menu that appeals to everyone. I challenge even the mos pickiest of eaters to not find something to their liking...as long as such picky eaters are amenable to pizza and pasta of course.
Melbourne Glutton
The salmon pizza was a standout and I especially enjoyed its abundance of toppings and creaminess. The cabbage salad was fresh, albeit a tad dry. A dressing of some sort, plus some cheese would have been good. As for the arracini and croquette, they weren't cheap at $15 for four.

I resisted going to Baby for a while because I wanted to wait for all the hype to die down. After a few months of holding out, my curiosity got the better of me and I ventured there with T, who had been raving about it for a good while by then. We dropped by on a lazy weekday when their lunch session was in full swing and the place was packed with an assorted clientele.  Whilst I had heard a lot about Baby's famous pizzas, the menu was surprisingly far more extensive. There was a notable selection of pastas and salads as well as tantalising desserts. Not only so, as we were seated at the counter, the array of pastries and cakes displayed near us were distracting to say the least. My mind quickly started to wander over the possibilities, and eventually convinced myself to order the Carbonara Pizza which incorporated both of my gastronomic desires.  It was big, irresistibly well oiled, and oh-so-good!!! T chose toppings which were competitively oily and fattening for his pizza and the pa

Whilst Baby may not be my usual choice for a date night, as it can get quite hard to talk with the noise, there's a lovely lighthearted atmosphere and the food is pretty solid, albeit a little pricer than the rest of town, but tuck into a few carafes of house wine and finish up with that creme caramello and just about anything can be forgiven...
