Review Cheeky Monkey - Richmond

Nice, popular cafe in Richmond. Food and coffee are quite good, as is the service. Sitting outside is nice when it's sunny and not too windy. Almost got taken out by a falling umbrella/shade so hopefully they do something about them during windy days ... Pricing is normal.

Loved the food. The quality was great and so was the portion. Staff were quick, attentive and engaging. I found the pricing fair bit higher than most local places i go to on weekly bases. Paid $72 for 2 coffe and 2 breakie( did add mahroom to them but they sure charged us for it and then some). Overall i dont think they have a high vote from me.

My breakfast go to place before going to work. I normally get my coffee there before I start my work and one day my friend and I decided to have breakfast and I didn’t expect that they have a nice little courtyard and since then it become my favorite breakfast place in Richmond. Great coffee as always and the eggs benedict is yum!

Cheeky monkey is our usual coffee joint. It’s always busy and the coffee has always been consistently good even if it’s a 10 minute drive. At 10:55, we placed an order for 2 coffees and a hot cross bun warmed up but they didn’t finish our order until 11:24. Got the coffees quite quickly. After 15 minutes we approached the counter and asked them about the hot cross buns and they responded that they were making it. They mentioned it as we waiting and asked the others about the hot cross bun. 25 minutes in I told them it’s been 25 minutes and asked them how much longer because it’s just a hot cross bun. They said they forgot about it before but it’s being made now and asked if I wanted a refund. I said no, but would be nice if it didn’t take 25 minutes to heat up a hot cross bun. They called us up a minute later and said our hot cross bun was ready and passed us a croissant 🥐. Almost lost my calm 🤬 Not sure if they were just doing it for S*** and giggles or a tick and flick moment. They had someone from inside deliver it to us.

I’ve been coming here regularly for many years but probably this is my last time, every time I’ve came here, the staff had changed and the wait time gets longer. Coffee was good as usual but the staff was very inattentive and unpleasant. I ordered a hot crossed bun (warmed up) and it took almost half an hour to come. When I asked the staff by the window they kept saying that it was coming with quite a bad attitude. On our third time asking which was around 20 minutes in we found out that they forgot about it. Not long after the guy at the window told that it was here and gave me a bag with a croissant inside. I don’t understand how you think a croissant is a hot crossed bun. Then we went back to waiting once again. When we got the hot crossed bun it was stale and hard. Very disappointing. There seems to be no communications between employees and also with the customers. Very inattentive and disappointing.

Cheeky Monkey is fantastic. Great menu but always have a look for the sandwiches in the cabinet. The Rueben and Tuna Melt were delicious and the long black perfect. Super Friendly people.

Went for brunch. We were the only Asian customers at that time. Was continuously ignored by the staff. Could order coffee that came late to the table. Afterwards Couldn’t get anyone’s attention to place the food order. Was in queue to pay and the cashier kept ignoring me and serving other customers. I should have just left without paying. Was extremely disappointed by the racist attitude.
