Review Minh Minh Saigon Soul - Richmond

Ignacio Torres
This place has all the good, all the perfect, and all the tasty stuff a restaurant can have. the Vietnamese-Thai take on their plate is amazing and unique. We tried a bunch of plates including the classic Bun. all of them were better than the last. Dumplings were amazing too. 10/10 would come back

Highly recommended. Cosy place & good foods. We had lunch for 7 of us as we tried 9 dishes from chef specials menu. Love the fried squid, roast pork stir fried, beef salad & prawn sticky sauce. Generous serve & good price. ๐Ÿ‘

Pretty comfy place. Went there with bunch of friends in the last hour. We ordered $40 per person banquet. Very fast service. Loved all the dish. Full of flavour.

Great place. Revisited after many years and was as good as we remembered. Food was outstanding and the service just what you would expect. Atmosphere improved greatly after a family with 5 or 6 young children left. It is a good place for all types of people.

Still one of the best Thai Vietnamese fusion restaurant in Richmond. It always packed with people. We ordered a numbered of dishes. The lighting upstairs is a bit dim, but apart from that the waiter who is hosting was quite friendly and accommodating.

The food was absolutely delicious. We had 8 people with us from young kids to grandparents with some very fussy tastes and every single person was impressed with the food. The service was attentive and prompt and we were pleased with the prices for the portion sizes. It was a fantastic experience for us. We will be back for sure!

Good food. Good portions. The banquet for 4 of us was plenty. One of us was Coeliac and they catered well for him. Worth mentioning one particular waitress was more 'switched on' in regards to which dishes to be avoided. She, not surprisingly had the best English so that likely helped. Great restaurant!

One of the best places to dine in Melbourne. Love this place so much. The food is delicious, fresh and homely โค The staffs help us to get signature dishes. They are able to make enthusiastic recommendations Highly recommend to opt dinner here

One of the best duck dishes I've ever had in my entire life. Perfect combination of crispy duck and sweet & sour sauce. The duck was fried with a thin layer of beer batter around it to give you that irresistible crispiness while keeping all the meat juice inside. Beautifully seasoned meat with sweet & sour sauce hits you with that rich flavours with every bite. Not to mention, huge portion size. Beyond worth. Must try.

Second best dish was Crazy Chicken Ribs ($19). It was tasty but the flavour was somewhat familiar. There's this Korean Fried Chicken franchise called Kyochon and their original fried chicken tastes just like Crazy Chicken Ribs. Menu suggests that it uses tomyum sauce but it tasted more like garlicy soy sauce. Regardless, it was still delicious. Juicy, crunchy and flavourful.

For appetizers, we grabbed Dim Sums, Yummy Quail, and Lalot. My favourite was Quail. At first I was annoyed how dry it was as I was picking meat off the bone - but nah I was just eating it wrong man. You just gatta pick the legs up with your bare hands and chow down on the chickadee with the bone in it. Crispy and flavoursome, went wonderfully together with the chili dressing.

FYI, you can bring your own booze for $1pp corkage. There's this bottle shop next door so grab a bottle of wine to complete the experience. Overall, no doubt that the chef here knows what he's doing. Mad props! Can't wait to visit again and devour the entire duck by myself.

The chicken satay was beautiful and crispy. I kept having to ask if it was definitely gluten free because it tasted so good! The Lalot is our favourite starter, the flavours are incredible! We ordered the fried pork this time and it was so flavoursome. Weโ€™ve eaten here numerous times over the past six months and every single time it doesnโ€™t disappoint. I love that the atmosphere is relaxed but everyone is having a good time and enjoying their food. โค๏ธ

$12 lunchbox is great

Ordered spring rolls, chili pho and peanut dried noodles - they all tasted really authentic and good. We also loved the iced coffee!
Been There. Ate That.
I loved everything about this place and can hardly wait to go back. A real gem - fantastic food and friendly service.

What a lovely place!

I loved Minh Minh, it was small and cute with seating upstairs but the restaurant is very low key, itโ€™s not overly fancy but the food was delicious.

The service was really friendly and I would definitely go back.

We had:
Chicken and prawn dumplings
Veggie rice paper rolls
Chicken pho
Pork belly salad

All finished. All enjoyed

A modern Asian eatery in Victoria street is exactly what it needs! Iโ€™m loving Vic street lately, itโ€™s got the most delicious, authentic Asian food in Melb. Minh Minh does things a bit differently by modernizing their menu to suit the Melb scene.

An absolute fave of mine was the beer battered duck in plum sauce ! Full of flavour and so easy to keep eating. Loved their bargain lunch too - a $12 lunch box with 5 different to choose from. Highly recommend the insane fish also and the rice paper rolls - although simple, they were done so well.

Big 5 star for me ๐Ÿ˜

Just amazing. If you are thinking of going here, donโ€™t second guess yourself. Let the food do the talking. Bet youโ€™ll be back here before no time.

WOW! This little Vietnamese restaurant was absolutely amazing!!! Beautiful, kind staff and amazing food! Packed full of flavour, we honestly loved every bite! We tried the chicken rice paper rolls, duck spring rolls, dumplings and two of the bento boxes. Everything was awesome but my favourite would have to be the dumplings they were so delicious and juicy! The bento boxes were perfect!!! We honestly were so full after it, itโ€™s the perfect dish for lunch! It has little bits of everything, we got the Signature Box and the Satay Box and we were sooo happy with our choices the chicken in both boxes were cooked to perfection and full of authentic flavour. If youโ€™re in Victoria Street, Richmond this is your new lunch spot! We canโ€™t wait to come back and try more!

Followed my favourite waiter here. I'm impressed. High quality food, friendly accomodating staff and fast service. Cannot recommend highly enough. Tried virtually everything on the menu, all outstanding.

Excellent food and friendly service.ย Despite being a busy Saturday night, the staff were friendly and efficient.ย The menu is a beautiful balance of traditional and creative.ย Fresh, delicious.ย The prices are a dollar or so more than the standard Victoria Street Vietnamese, but the quality more than justifies it.ย We're definitely going back.ย Soon.

Visited Minh Minh in Richmond to try out their new lunchbox menu!

Was thoroughly surprised and extremely pleased with the service, presentation, taste and overall value for money!

We ordered the Satay box and the Signature boxย
Satay box consisted of Satay chicken, a generous serving of rice, two curry puffs, a steamed dim sum, a side salad and a bowl of Pho.ย
Everything in this box was super flavourful however we were not the biggest fan of the dim sum.ย
Signature box consisted of grilled chicken, generous serving of rice, 2 spring rolls, a prawn dumpling, a side salad and a bowl of pho. I really enjoyed everything in this box! Would highly recommend.ย

I cannot get over the value for money of these lunch boxes!! 6 generous components all for only $8 you truly can not beat that!!

This was our first time eating at Minh Minh Saigon Soul, a Vietnamese asian infusion restaurant located on the bustling Victoria St Richmond. The restaurant was quite busy when we arrived, but the friendly staff were quick to find us a seat and serve us.

We got to try Melbourneโ€™s first Vietnamese lunch box (It has an introductory price of $8) and it was very good and super tasty.

I had the Richmond Box which included:
Saigon Street Fried Pork, Spring rolls, Curry Puff, Vietnamese Coleslaw, and rice. I have to say it was very flavoursome and was quite filling. I loved the Pho soup, which accompanied the dish.

My hubby had the Satay Box:
Chicken Satay, Fried Wontons, Dimsim, Vietnamese Coleslaw and rice. He said the chicken was delicious and crispy and the satay was really good.

Minh Minh has been around for many years, and we are glad we finally got to try it. We canโ€™t recommend the Vietnamese lunch box highly enough.

Just got back from my first dining experience at Minh Minh and wow, just wow. The food was phenomenal. I took advantage of the current lunch box special so decided ill have two so i can try a couple of different things, had the fried pork and the chicken ribs. Having firstly tasted the pork i thought it isnt getting better than this. Then i tried the chicken ribs.....i was wrong, it did get better! All the sides it came with were equally great. Seriously delicious food and i cant wait to get back to try other dishes from the menu. Minh Minh you now have a new regular customer! Oh, and our favourite ever waiter from Tho Tho's is working here now, reckon that legend has been feeding me for over 25 years!

Was lucky to have won a giveaway and came here for a delicious feast! Always wanted to try since theres such raving reviews and even though this way a giveaway the dishes DID NOT DISAPPOINT. I wish I ordered more!

Service: friendly, polite, and always approached you with a smile. Very accommodating too.

Venue: cute cozy little joint. They also have a second floor so it's actually bigger than I thought. Beautifully decorated inside with vietnamese artwork on their walls. Was fully packed even on a Tuesday night so you can tell how popular it was, all ethnicities present too!

Food: here comes the best part!
Entrees
Shrimp dumplings 4/5 - came with 4 nicely wrapped dumplings on a bed of spring mix. Nicely seasoned, and an interesting mix of your typical steamed har gaw from dimsum, but the texture of the dumpling skin was thicker with the egg dough. An interesting combination that confused my palate a bit but overall well seasoned, heaps of prawns inside, and steamed perfectly.

Duck rice paper roll 3.5/5 - really enjoyable! Definitely a light entree to kickstart the meal. We opted for duck filling but could have been chicken or prawns. Duck was well seasoned, good amount of veggies inside. Again the skin was not overly chewy and well prepared. Points deducted as I think it couldve had a little more herbs to heighten the flavours but overall also enjoyable and healthy!

Roti 5/5 - not oily, well fried, slight crisp but soft and paired well with the chicken curry we ordered. Didnt end up trying the satay sauce but wish I did! Wouldve probably been really good.

Mains:

Lucky Lucky Duck 5/5 - *MUST TRY* if you love sweet and sour dishes, and crispy duck. The duck was fried and it had a good layer of beer batter around it. Not too oily and well seasoned, even when sat there for long, the crispiness was retained and the ratio of batter to meat was perfect (as opposed to those that cheap out on meat). No bones but very rich in duck flavour. Generous portion as well. Definitely worth it.

Crazy Chicken Ribs 4.5/5 - another *MUST TRY* as the chicken was crispy on the outside yet juicy and tender on the inside. Each piece was covered with the perfect amount of sauce with just a slightest kick of heat from the chilis. The reason I deducted 0.5 is because the menu did say tomyum sauce but I didnt taste any tomyum at all. But regardless of that, the sauce (tasting more soy base and sweeter) was still delightful and paired well with the chicken. Good bed of coleslaw underneath that balanced the friedness of the dish.

Chicken curry 5/5 - very enjoyable with a strong aroma of lemongrass, so if you enjoy lemongrass thai like fusion like curry, this one is for you! Again not overpowering and chicken was well tender and juicy. No bones! Well balanced with spices. A little heat to it as well. Comes with rice which was much needed to complete the dish.

Chinese broccoli with oyster sauce 4/5 - Cant really go wrong with this! If you like your veg more on the softer side then this will be good for you. I do enjoy my chinese broccoli this way so great addition (although many of their dishes already comes with a good portion of veggies, so only order if you really want just veg!). Did not cheap out on the sauce either as a lot was put on it, but wasnt overly salty.

Steamed barramundi 4/5 - well steamed, fish was soft and light. Good amount of oil, ginger, spring onion to balance off the dish. Very traditionally made. The barramundi was a little fishy though, but that might just be the fish itself. Came with a good bed of Chinese broccoli at the bottom. Soaked up all the goodness of the fish and oils and sauce so was quite flavourful!

I cant wait to go back. Definitely worth the travel to Richmond if you dont live around the area.
Serving up excellent Vietnamese food in a busy part of Richmond, Minh Minh Saigon Soul is an authentic experience of gorgeous Vietnamese cuisine. Extremely popular, the restaurant was fully booked when we dined here, and the vibe was buzzing. A comfortable environment with a gorgeous wall mural and artworks; and a stunning ceiling of straw hats. The staff were generous with their time, and the service was excellent.

We chose some drinking coconuts as its BYO here, and they were cold and refreshing. Starting with duck spring rolls which were crispy and flavoursome, with a delicious duck filling. I liked that they were quite large and generous with loads of zingy filling. The quail entree was also fabulous, with sticky and tender quail pieces.

The Saigon Street fried pork was fabulous as well with a delicious, sweet sauce and crispy pork pieces that were juicy and succulent. The fresh salad on the side helped cut through the richness.

We finished with Sexy Chef which was bought to the table wrapped in foil on a flaming plate. Quite a bit of theatre which made for an enjoyable experience. The beef and vegetables inside were extremely tasty and spicy. The sauce was amazing and the meat just melted in your mouth.

I loved the friendly, homely vibe of this restaurant. The Vietnamese cuisine was so delicious, the service was fantastic despite it being so busy and the staff were so lovely. There's obviously good reason why this is such a popular venue, and now that I've experienced it for myself, I can see why.

Thank you for hosting us.

The pho is delicious! Sings of all kinds of flavours! We tried the chilli pho - chicken and noodles. Delicious!

Went with few of friends to the restaurant, and used two 1+1 on gold. The Vietnamese chicken curry was very delicious, had balanced spice level! Also Chicken wok was amazing, I forgot to take a proper picture of it, I was really hungry so I just jumped right into it ๐Ÿ˜…. I highly recommend to include in your order.

Located on Victoria street youโ€™ll find Minh Minh Saigon Soul serving up a storm in Richmond. This a casual eatery offers traditional Vietnamese food with a modern twist that oozes authentic South East Asian flavours. They are also vegan, vegetarian and gluten free friendly too which is always an added bonus.

Enjoyed quick and yummy dining experience ... our favourite is yummy quail, so tender and juicy with spicy sauce.

We've ordered these on the night that we've visited.
- Duck rice paper roll
- Chicken spring rolls
- Chilli pho
- Sexy chef

The duck rice paper roll and spring rolls were delicious! However was pretty disappointed by the chilli pho as the broth was more sweet than spicy. It tasted like they have mixed some peking sauce in it which overpowered the broth flavour. The sexy chef beef was sweet and chewy.

A delightful and authentic experience right in the hub of North Richmond. Minh Minh provides a extensive menu filled with some of our favourite classics. The atmosphere is busy and bustling and the staff are cheerful and efficient. We love the variety and they do a good job of making everything taste amazing. The pho is a must order, and we shared a big bowl as a starter, alongside a single serve of spring rolls.

Ordered the $35 banquet with my family and damn there was a lot of food. No one left hungry and it was all served very quickly. Great food and very affordable considering how much we got.

3.5*

Minh Minh Saigon Soul has been around for ages! They recently released a new Winter menu and we were invited to try it out.

The restaurant is extremely warm and welcoming. I love the straw hat interior on the roof, it does give you that Vietnamese vibe.

We started the night with a couple entrees. We ordered the Lalot and the quail. I am Vietnamese myself and Iโ€™ve had many Lalot in my life time so I can say that this one was quite average. The meat was dry inside, there wasnโ€™t much flavour to it and there was no dipping sauce to go with it! The quail was extremely dry. It know quail is hard to cook but honestly it wasnโ€™t nice to eat.

Next we had entree which were better. We ordered East Meet West which was Grilled Marinated Chicken with garlic chilli, lemongrass and coleslaw. Itโ€™s very similar to broken rice, the flavour of the chicken but it wasnโ€™t too bad! I didnโ€™t mind this dish.

Next was the Crazy Chicken Ribs. I wasnโ€™ the biggest fan of the ribs, they were a bit too spicy for my liking however if you can stand a bit of heat then you might enjoy this. The chicken wasnโ€™t cook as well as I wanted it to be. It was kind of a let down.

The net two dishes were the sexy chef which was crispy beef and veggies with peking duck. This was my favourite dish of the night. It came in a foil that was flamed. I liked the crispiness of the beef and the it was packed with flavour!

Lastly, we had the South East Asia Prawns. I liked this dish as well. The prawns were all cooked. There were hits of ginger and garlic and onion! Great flavours.

Overall, there were some hits and misses. I think they should be more careful in regards to overcooking their meat. The flavours are good but the meat are just dry and unpleasant to eat. Thank you for having us.
The Casual Diner
Will come back for:
+ Quail
+ Bun
+ Crazy chicken ribs

One thing about the dishes at Minh Minh is that they all came with bags of flavors. I particularly liked the spiced quail (nicely spiced, tender and moorish), the chicken ribs (succulent and generous in portion) and the Bun (generous portion and great combination of textures and flavors). The shaker shaker squid was good, but a tad on the sweet side for me. And the same with the chilli pho. Service was friendly and efficient, and prices was very reasonable for what you get. A great option for your Vietnamese street food fix in this very competitive food strip at Victoria St.

I had the opportunity to visit one of the most authentic cuisines going around - Vietnamese! Iโ€™m proud of my heritage and the delicious food that comes from is and even more so that places like Minh Minh Saigon Soul are continuing its legacy. Located inside one of the oldest restaurants in Victoria street, Minh Minh Saigon Soul has a unique menu that draws from the depths of Vietnamese cuisine. You can still get the usual Pho but you can also explore so much more. From the age of the building, as you can expect the interior is quite dated but also adds to the an authentic feel to it though - to update it too much would make it feel less Vietnamese.
Nicole
I loved my visit to Minh Minh Saigon Soul!
I went with two friends and we ordered Lalot, VFC and Fried Wontons for entree - all of which we enjoyed but the Lalot and VFC were definitely the standouts.
For my main I got the Beef Bun and loved it. The serving size was large (excellent value for money) with a generous amount of beef and it was full of flavour!
My friends got one of the fish dishes (I canโ€™t recall which one) and the Curry Laksa. I had a sample of both and they were great too. The fish was light and fresh and the laksa was very warming on a cold evening.
There are so many great options on the menu so I would definitely like to visit again to try different meals.
Staff were friendly and the food came out quickly.
Kelvinchewsv
Given everyone elseโ€™s high rating, I would like to give the benefit of doubt that maybe we ordered the wrong dishes, we came on a Sunday evening when service would take a bit longer and the staff were probably just family members helping to fill in.

Overall, service was pretty bad. It was only two girls so probably understaffed. We had to wait for a bit before table was cleaned. I asked for water 3x but wasnโ€™t given any. In the end, I just went to grab a bottle from another table after they left. In a span of one hour, they also smashed a glass and a plate twice.

We had vegetarian and chicken pho. The soup was really oily and salty. Chicken was grilled and chopped into really big chunks, unlike the usual steamed and shredded chicken pieces elsewhere.

Will not return again, despite us being able to enjoy Zomato gold here.

LifestyleByLily
With an abundance of great Asian cuisine available on Victoria Street, it comes as no surprise that it is a busy place. That said, there is always room for a new spot amongst the usual suspects. I was delighted to be invited to the winter launch menu at Minh Minh in Richmond. The restaurant was packed and closed to the public on such a cold evening.

Initial impression was that of a buzzing and lively crowd in a cozy environment straight out of a Chinatown shop. We were led upstairs to a quieter environment with lovely murals of the busy Saigon streets. It was definitely a direct contrast upstairs where the lighting was dim and the music playing was a tad too loud modern indie pop.

Yay: the crispy quail, Lalot
Nay: The beef (Sexy Chef) was not crispy.
Nomafoodic Chipineats
Minh Minhโ€™s food is so unique unlike all the neighbouring joints on Victoria st. The beef wrapped in vine leaves were divine! The slow roasted quail is so full of flavour and spice! Enjoyed it very much. The meat was succulent. My favourite main dish was the prawns in egg gravy, reminded me of the chilli crab in spore! The flavour profiles are close enough to my heritage, yet unique and different! Enjoyed it very much!

I was invited to come try their winter warmers menu. I had the combination spring rolls which were a great let down- not packing the flavour I expect in a spring roll whether it be pork, prawn or vegetable filling. I also had the quail which were quite salty and dry. The โ€˜sexy chefโ€™ which was deep fried beef with Peking sauce was a highlight of the night, however as it stated to come with vegetables, there shouldโ€™ve been more of them to balance the dish out. Overall, it was an underwhelming night given the good ratings seen on Zomato.
The Brunch Specialist
Located along Victoria Street, Minh Minh Saigon Soul is now in its twenty-first year of operation.

Visiting for dinner we shared a number of dishes including the Week to Week steamed barramundi, Shanghai Street fried pork, spring rolls, dumplings and VFC (Vietnamese Fried Chicken).

The steamed barramundi was the standout dish for us. It was cooked to perfection and beautifully balanced. The VFC was another great dish, the chicken was nice and crispy. All of the dishes we ordered were packed full of flavour.

Many of the dishes we shared can also be ordered as part of a banquet. With banquets starting from $25 per person theyโ€™re a great way of trying a number of dishes at a reasonable price.

In addition to the tasty food at Minh Minh Saigon Soul I was impressed with the overall service. Everything we ordered came out pretty quickly despite the restaurant being fairly full during our visit.

Overall I highly enjoyed my dinner at Minh Minh Saigon Soul. Everything we ordered was delicious and I think they provide great value for money. I recommend that you check them out if youโ€™re in the area and I rate it โญ๏ธโญ๏ธโญ๏ธโญ๏ธโญ๏ธ out of 5.

3.7

Was invited to a winter event to try out some of their menus.ย

For entree, we had the prawn dumpling which was quite yummy, with fresh prawns and lalot which is basically minced beef wrapped in betel leaves. Flavour was great, though it was unfortunately too dry.

For mains we had the sexy chef which was quite a dish as it came wrapped in foil surrounded by flames. It was deep fried beef in sweet and sour sauce and it was yummy, beef was tender and sauce was tasty.

Lastly we had the shaker shaker squid. It was fried perfectly, and portion was great however we found it too salty even when paired with rice. They actually changed it for us but it was still too salty unfortunately, otherwise a really yummy dish.

Overall a hit and miss on the dishes, which must be due to the amount of people attending the event that night. Nevertheless it was an enjoyable meal and am looking forward to better experience in the future!

( follow for more!โœจ)

๏ฝ˜๏ฝ˜๏ผŒ๏ฝŠ๏ฝ๏ฝ…๏ฝŒ๏ฝŒ๏ฝ….

I am surprised that after living in Melb for over 8 years we have only just discovered this place now. The meals here are damn tasty!
Entrees: beef lalot and prawn dumplings were full of flavour but the standout was the quail, flavour was on point and the crispiness, OMG.
Main: the sexy chef was their take on crispy beef with Peking sauce and it was delish, extra points for the fire theatrics as it arrives on the table. East meets West chicken was also worth mentioning. The chicken was cooked to perfection and it was bursting with flavour from the chilli, lemongrass and garlic.
This place will definitely become one of our regulars now.
Hello. Imnikki
It's a thug life for restaurants on Victoria Street in Richmond, especially if you're a Vietnamese restaurant. With so many other Vietnamese eateries along the length of Victoria Street, you gotta stand out from the crowd to survive. Minh Minh Saigon Soul seems to be doing just that.

I was lucky enough to be invited to try out the new winter menu and boy, did the food warmed me up. Timinmelbourne kindly accompanied me and we shared two entrees and two mains between us. The Sexy Crispy Quail was aptly named - two sexy legs, crispy skin, tender meat and full of flavour. Another dish with the word "sexy" in it was the Sexy Chef. Also a sexy dish but not as seductive as the quails. The Sexy Chef comprised of crispy battered beef in peking sauce. The sauce was impeccable - a combination of sweet, savoury and smoky.

The Lalot (grilled beef wrapped in vine leaves) left my taste buds in a frenzy - bold and piquant flavours, and aromatic too. The big and juicy South East Asia Prawns (how do they come up with the names?) had a subtle spicy kick to it, and the intense flavour of the garlic and ginger made this a dish to remember. The sauce was practically begging to be eaten with a bowl of white rice.

A great night with great company! Thank you for the invite!
KEL
I was fortunate enough to be invited to Minh Minh's winter menu tasting event. I mean, what have I been missing this whole time?!

We tried the lalot and quail for entree. Both were so tasty. The yummy quail was my favourite, crispy on the outside and juicy inside with a hint of spicy. Heaven!ย The marinated chicken was super flavoursome, great on its own and even better with the refreshing dipping sauce. The prawn was also nicely done with flavour been nicely balanced.ย

The only let down was we didn't receive our rice after 2 friendly reminders. We understand the night was super crazy but the dishes would be much better with rice.

Overall, it was a great taste of Vietnam and I will definitely be back again for more.

I visited Minh Minh on a bloggers night recently to try their new winter warmer menu, so I won't comment on the service.

But the food was excellent, and we started w the gluten free (GF) lalot which is signature grilled beef wrapped in vine leaves. They were really tasty, the meat was soft, and I liked the vine leaves for a change.

Then we tried some GF "Sexy Crispy Quail" hahaha not I'm not making that name up. It was all legs 11 and they were absolutely amazing. I haven't eaten quail in too long. Wow I've been missing out. Full of meat, well seasoned, a yummy sauce. Perfect.

It was a cold night so we ordered the "Sexy Chef" haha but alas it wasn't the man or woman but some crispy beef and veggies w Peking Sauce and it was a flambรฉ at our table. The meat and veggies were great, a bit heavily coated w the sauce and the coating but still moorish.

Then we tried some South East Asia Prawns (GF) again and these were a winner. Large meaty prawns, a nice garlic and ginger accompanying sauce. Happy days.

Overall it was a really good night, with some lovely company thanks to @Hello.Imnikki

I was lucky enough to have a delicious Vietnamese dinner delivered last night. The service was great, and it was delivered on a bike.

We had some delicious food. Everything from duck rice paper rolls yummo. Vegetarian spring rollls, great then onto THE best dim sims Iโ€™ve ever tried. Def a 5/5 for those.

And the vegetarian fried rice was delicious too! Who knew rice could be so flavoursome?

My combination laska was delicious and delivered hot and well packaged so it didnโ€™t spill everywhere. With thx.

What a perfect night in early t/a yay! If you like good quality (but not too cheap) Vietnamese this place is definitely worth a try.

I was invited here to try Minh Minh's new winter menu launch, what a fabulous event!

With competition pretty steady along Victoria St, Minh Minh certainly is up there with one of the best restaurants I have been to along the strip of restaurants.ย The staff handled the pressures of serving full restaurant of people really well.ย The timings of food and drinks serving was great!

The menu was so good! We got to sample a bit of everything and it was all outstanding! The crispiness of the quail, succulent prawn dumplings which had a nice texture, the peking beef which came out in foil that was on fire! What a great dish that was, loved it!ย The marinated chicken with chilli, garlic and lemongrass was so juicy and tasty and the beef in vine leaf - OMG...ย

A definite must if you are in the area, I can't wait to go back! Thank you for the invite Minh Minh SS ๐Ÿ˜Š

First time visiting this restaurant. Friendly vibe and polite staff. Reasonably priced, with a variety of dishes. Lalot and grilled chicken were delicious, especially the accompanying sauce. compared to some of the other restaurants on victoria street i would say this is right up there. would recommend.
The New Fave
Minh Minh in Richmond is a casual but vibing Vietnamese restaurant that takes fresh, good quality produce, mixes it up with some Authentic Vietnamese flavours and serves it up in dishes that will make you want to come back for more. Minh Minhโ€™s steamed prawn dumplings couldnโ€™t be stuffed with more juicy chunks of prawn if they tried, and the stir fried prawns with ginger and garlic showed that simple flavours executed well can take a dish to a whole another level.

What a lovely place. It was a busy night when we came. I think they could use an extra staff member or two but that didn't effect our dining experience overall. The staff greeted us with a big smile when we first came in and sat us down straight away.ย

For starters, we ordered the Steamed Prawn Dumplings and the Lalot, which is grilled pork wrapped in vine leaf. The dumplings was perfectly cooked and very tasty. The grilled pork was actually sweet. I've never had this before so it was a lovely surprise.ย

For mains, we ordered the East meet West, the Pad Viet and the Insane Fish. My favourite dish would have to be the East meet West was grilled chicken. Again, it was sweet but once you drizzled the lemon over it, the flavour just explodes in your mouth. The Insane Fish was also another favourite of mine. It was crispy Barramundi with this dressing and even though the fish was swimming in the dressing, it stayed crispy. It was just an insane-ly (haha) incredible dish. Definitely will be back for more.ย

My friend also saw that the drinks menu says, 'BYO only'... followed by, 'Bottle shop next door'. Yes, I love that! Locals supporting locals!

We went to Minh Minh who has a sister restaurant Saigon Soul. We loved the ambience , hospitality and most importantly the food here

We ordered the curry puffs, the rare beef salad, the betal leaf beef , the fried fish and the east meets west chicken. The curry puffs were flaky and the filling was delicious, the betal wrapped beef was charred and the beef inside was tender and flavoured nicely- this is one of my favourite Vietnamese dishes so I was glad they did this well. The rare beef salad had a well balanced fish sauce dressing and tender beef that had just been cured enough in the lemon.

The two of my absolute favourites were the fried barramundi , and the east meets west chicken. The fish was so tender , I loved it so much. Same goes for the chicken, the lemongrass flavour really shone through, I loved this dish at Saigon Soul so I was happy that I can now have this so much closer to home

Thanks for having us in !

โญ๏ธ 4.5 starsโญ๏ธ
Came here on a Saturday night and from the minute we opened the door, we knew we were on! What smacked us in the face was a bustling atmosphere and the authentic smell of Vietnamese cooking. It was so full we sat upstairs and funnily it was a completely different vibe to downstairs. Upstairs was much more quiet and chilled where as downstairs was bustling.

What we ordered:
VFC (Vietnamese fried chicken)
Roti Bread w/ home made satay sauce
Sensational Duck Spring Rolls
Sexy Chef
Wok Wok Thai

Picking entrees was hard because there were so many good ones. The home made satay sauce is a must, filled with spice (but not too much) it blends beautifully with the crispiness of the roti bread. The VFC was cooked to perfection and was sitting in some sort of vinegar which provided flavour to the fried chicken. The duck spring rolls were different for us but we still donโ€™t regret ordering them.

As for mains the Sexy Chef was crispy beef like youโ€™ve never had it before. If youโ€™re someone who likes beef and Vietnamese this is something special for you. The Wok Wok Thai was a generous serve that was beaming all sorts of flavour through the use of multiple spices.

We were impressed & will definitely be back.

A trip to Vietnam just at the heart of Victoria Street. They have been around for over 21 years, and you know itโ€™s good when you step in on a Friday night and it was bustling with people. Love the decor and murals on the wall, with a sea Non La (vietnamese hats) on the ceilings which makes the place so fresh and vibrant.

They had a good range on the menu and we wanted to have abit of everything. They do have banquet options available and they were value for money. We ordered the following items.
Lalot ( Grilled beef in vine leaf)
Prawn Wontons
Saigon Street Fried Pork
Insane Fish

The Lalot was a good entree and was packed with flavours, went really well with the salad on top. You cant go wrong with crunchy wontons, with a drizzle of sesame oil, pepper and sweer & sour sauce. The Saigon Fried Pork was so good, the flavours and texture is good and it went really well with the salad on the side.

My favourite dish of the night has got to be the Insane Fish, crispy barramundi fillet topped with onions, lime, salt and pepper. The dish was presented well and the fish was so good, packed with flavours in every bite.

I really enjoyed dinner in Minh Minh and the prices are reasonable. Loved the traditional and authentic vietnamese flavours in every dish. The food was good and the staff were friendly. I highly recommend it when youโ€™re in the area! Will definitely be back to try the banquet options.
Lovely food with very strong flavours. The spicy chilli pho beautiful. Extremely good value. Also very nice lemon lime and bitters. We were in a hurry and the food came out within minutes

Tried this restaurant on a week night, was reasonably busy. The service was good as was the ambience. Tried various meals and they were all very appetising. The food was fresh and it was an excellent meal and reasonably priced.

Overall score: 19/25 or โญ๏ธโญ๏ธโญ๏ธโญ๏ธ
in 5 words: asian fusion with generous portions
*
Taste โญ๏ธโญ๏ธโญ๏ธโญ๏ธ - we really enjoyed our mains here, though all the dishes err a little on the sweet side.
โœ… ๐Ÿ—the crazy chicken ribs was fried to perfection and coated with a unique sweet sauce.
โœ…the insane fish dish was insanely delicious, sitting on a generous bed of salad. The fish was boneless, fresh and huge
โœ… lucky lucky duck paired well with the plum sauce and mixed vegetables
๐Ÿ†— the prawn dumplings and spring rolls were standard and a good healthy start to our meal. The dumplings were well made and the rice paper rolls went very well with the sauce. The satay was also a little different from the Malaysian variant that we are used to. We hope they would add more peanut sauce since they are more generous with their satay meat!ย โ€จ
*
Ambience โญ๏ธโญ๏ธโญ๏ธโญ๏ธ - Warm and welcoming. The place filled up quickly on a Saturday night, with almost every single patron bringing their alcohol of choice. Did I mention $0 corkage? Win!ย โ€จ
*
Price โญ๏ธโญ๏ธโญ๏ธ- Mains would cost you about $20-$30 per person and the portions are seriously generous. Minh Minh Saigon Soul is a beautiful Vietnamese restaurant located on the busy strip of Victoria St. Recently turning 21, theyโ€™ve been in the game for a long time, and they combine their rich history with a modern spin.

The venue is gorgeous, decorated with beautiful paintings, photographs and ceiling ornaments. The food they serve combines traditional authentic Vietnamese cuisine fused with modern and innovative flavours (and the names of the dishes are very entertaining!).

We started with the Lalot, which is a must try! Itโ€™s beef wrapped in vine leaf - such a unique and interesting dish! The beef was very tender too.

The Yummy Quail was delicious. As with all quail, it was slightly on the dry side but the flavours were really good! Loved the crispy skin and the kick from the chilli.

The VFC was amazing! Probably the crispiest chicken wings Iโ€™ve ever had - youโ€™ve got to try it to believe it! Coated in a yummy sweet sticky sauce, itโ€™s another must try!

Onto mains, we tried the East Meet West - one of their signatures, and I can tell why! The barbecue chicken is cooked perfectly, with crispy skin and very tender meat. Itโ€™s sweet and savoury, and the portion is huge! One of my favourite dishes!

The Phat Bai Ka Phrao was very nice. Itโ€™s a simple dish of stir fried beef and vegetables, but itโ€™s done really well. The beef is really tender again and it tasted very fresh!

The Shaker Shaker Squid, recommended by our waiter, exceeded our expectations by far! Itโ€™s definitely not your usual s&p squid! The batter is light and crispy, and the sweet and vinegar-y dressing works so well with it! The squid is chewy but not too much that you canโ€™t bite it. Definitely worth trying!

And lastly, we had the Week to Week, which is a favourite at the restaurant. A very fresh fillet of barramundi steamed to perfection, and breaks apart at the touch of your chopsticks. Topped with plenty of ginger, garlic and onion, giving it tons of flavour. The broth would be incredible with rice!

We also had coconut juice straight from the coconut which was very refreshing!

The owner is extremely nice and all the waiters are very friendly. Itโ€™s a very busy restaurant so Iโ€™d recommend you to book ahead! Definitely worth checking out!

*We were kindly invited by Minh Minh Saigon Soul and all opinions are my own.
Chips Before Dips
We had a fantastic meal here.
We started with the satay skewers, and the VFC. The VFC was stand-out. So crispy, and the sauce was delicious.
For main, I had the curry laksa pho, which was so good. I also tried some of my friendโ€™s chicken pho which was also hugely flavourful and enjoyable.
The staff were great, and really added to the experience.
Itโ€™s a busy little place, so would recommend booking.

Popular little place with nice food. Dumplings werenโ€™t heated though and satay chicken was a bit dry but otherwise an enjoyable and well priced meal. BYO with bottle shop next door

Just heard that Minh Minh has celebrated its 21st birthday a few weeks back so I couldnโ€™t wait to visit this restaurant. The shop is situated on Vietnamese food precinct, however it stands out for offering Vietnamese funky fusion food. Itโ€™s worth trying for who love South East Asian cuisine.

First off, we had the quails as the beginner. It was well-seasoned and a little crunch from the texture really gave a good appetite.

Secondly, the beef in betel leaves was just unbeatable. It had moisture, flavours, texture, and some sort of X factor in it that I couldnโ€™t resist. Gotta give this dish thumbs up for its excellent flavours

Then, the barramundi fillet and fried calamari . I loved them too yet I rekon they needs a bit more of sweetness and savouriness.

The chicken wings came right after, and OMG, it was delicious. Next time, I may grab a beer with it.

The vegetarian laksa pho was delish and huge. I assume it is the best choice for vegetarians or vegetable lovers.

Apart from the food, service was great. Canโ€™t thank Thien enough for your hospitality !!!

Probably the best Vietnamese food I have triedoutside of Vietnam. Food and service was excellent. Drinks and food came out quickly and priced pretty well also. Only reason for 4 is because one of the meals was forgotten but happily deducted from our bill

Happy 21st birthday to Minh Minh Saigon Soul!

I was lucky enough to be invited to their anniversary dinner and itโ€™s easy to see how theyโ€™ve stayed in the game so long. All of the dishes were seriously so tasty & flavoursome, I couldnโ€™t pick a favourite (although ok, I did love the pork and grilled chicken most!).

We tried:
* East Meet West (grilled chicken)
* South East Asia Prawn (GF)
* Saigon Street Fried Pork (GF)
* Insane Fish
* Crispy Quail (GF)
* Steamed Prawn Dumplings

Such a great place for a meal thatโ€™s full on flavour and light on the wallet! Loved the cute interior and heaps of GF options as well.
Theycallmemaggie
The traditional dishes like the lalot (grilled beef wrapped in betel leaf) were well executed, and flavour profiles nailed to a T, while those with a modern twist both highlighted and reinvigorated the underlying authentic tones. Having grown up with Vietnamese cuisine myself, it wasnโ€™t hard to see why Minh Minh Saigon Soul remains one of the top Vietnamese eateries on Victoria Street and all of Melbourne.
YummyMummy
We were looking for something fresh and tasty and this place nailed it!!!
The two of us enjoyed fresh, crispy spring rolls, Saigon fried pork and east meets west chicken... we wanted a bun as well but happily we were warned that would be too much - and it would have been as we struggled to finish what we ordered.
All up with tea and steamed rice and two cokes it came to $50 for the two of us.
A lot more fancy than other local eateries but well worth it! Delicious, fresh and tasty!
The Fo0die
Fo0die dined as a guest of Minh Minh Saigon Soul and as such, the rating does not give any consideration to customer service.ย

Minh minh saigon soul has been opened for 21 years. Located on Victoria Street in Richmond; the street is filled with Vietnamese restaurants. When asked what differentiates the venue from the others, the owner said they offer traditional Vietnamese flavours in their dishes but modernised.

Was lucky enough to be invited to a special moment, to celebrate Minh Minhโ€™s 21st anniversary. I love the interior, those Non La on the ceiling were beautiful, really captured the Vietnamese culture. For entrees we had the La lot, Steamed pork & prawn wontons and the crispy quail. For mains we had the Crazy chicken ribs, South east asia prawn and the Insane fish. All the dishes tasted amazing with beautiful flavours. These photos doesnโ€™t really do the food justice.
Iโ€™ve been living in Melbourne for about 11 years now and I never knew about this place until this day, and I am so thankful for this event. Definitely bringing my family and friends here when we crave for Vietnamese food in Richmond in the future. Highly recommended this restaurant to everyone! Just know that I am Vietnamese and my standard are pretty high, it is hard enough to find a good place that does it well but also keeping the authenticity, Minh Minh Saigon Soul definitely did it for me.

Minh Minh Saigon Soul at Richmond. Recently changed under the second generation management. Thanks for the invite and we did have a nice lunch there. Love the steamed prawn dumplings and insane barramundi fish. Beef salad is a bit strong and salty but good combination with the rice provided. It is high value and good ambience with new decorations. It is a must try Vietnamese restaurant should go in Richmond. Highly recommended

Minh minh is a Vietnamese restaurant that has an amazing atmosphere and stylish tablewear.

Service is slow, maybe as they had less staff on for the dinner session but regardless when served, the staff were attentive.

Entree:

Sensational special duck spring rolls - crispy, tender meat and the sauce compliments. The sauce was subtly sweet.

Crazy chicken ribs, very aromatic, crispy batter and the slaw was refreshing.

Special fried rice - well charred with a generous amount of prawns, bbq pork and veggies. Very original and oily.

*** I was invited to try out the place, review based on own opinion

Richmond is one of inner-city Melbourneโ€™s biggest hubs for Vietnamese dining, but few are as renowned as Minh Minh on Victoria Street. The restaurant just celebrated their 21st anniversary, which is a lifetime by Melbourne standards. They serve primarily Vietnamese fare with Thai and Laotian influence. While the restaurant has revamped their menu and cooking style a bit over the past two decades (more vegan options, increased attention to presentation to please an Instagram generation), they serve up the same classic dishes that locals have been coming back since the start.

Incredibly friendly staff, very short wait time for the delicious food. Fairly priced and a decent selection on the menu, including a considerable array of vegetarian options. Thoroughly recommended.
Gastrology
Recently celebrating its 21st birthday, Minh Minh Saigon Soul is an iconic Vietnamese eatery along Richmondโ€™s bustling Victoria Street.

Minh Minhโ€™s mission is simple: to serve authentic Vietnamese fare that wonโ€™t break the bank in a relaxed setting.

The menu is authentic, affordable and takes you on a trip around Vietnam, all the way from up north to down south (from rice paper rolls to vermicelli noodle bowls, or pho).

I had a lovely experience at Minh Minh the other night.ย

I ordered the vegan rice paper rolls for the entrรฉe - they were delicious and the dipping sauce was divine. For main course I had the vegan Pad Viet - veggies and noodles in a satay sauce. Absolutely scrumptious! It was great to see so many veggie options on the menu.ย

Service was great, dรฉcor is so cool - definitely Instagrammable!ย

Update: went again and tried some delish tofu stirfry with snow peas and mushrooms. Divine!

Situated in the heart of Melbourneโ€™s Vietnamese community, Minh Minh Saigon Soul features an absolutely buzzing atmosphere paired with amazing, modern and delicious Vietnamese cuisine.
Despite the modern presentation and creative interpretations, the flavours definitely reminded us of the light, refreshing flavours from all over Vietnam.
Quince And Cheese
Was lucky enough to attend the 21st anniversary party of this Victoria Street institution. Although it happens to be right across the street from my house, I'd never been til that night but will most certainly be back. I started with a dish of vegetables dumplings, which had an incredible texture with a skin that was thick and shiny but not sticky and a mixed veg filling. They were served with sauce and salad and I could have eaten ten plates more. For a main, I tried the satay noodles with tofu, which were super fresh and veg heavy and not too saucy, just how I like it. Service was prompt and attentive and the space is relatively small but nice. I hope this dining destination experiences many more years of service.

Can't wait to go back another time. The vibe and food are perfect match. I have been to Richmond do many years, this is one of the undiscovered gems.

Adventuring into Richmond for a delightful evening with the Minh Ming Saigon Soul team was such a treat. I enjoyed an entree of Prawn Dumplings, and these babies were so big I could barely hold them with my chopsticks (not that my chopstick skills are that good haha). Inside was delicious prawn meat that was so juicy, I could have eaten about 50 of them.

Onto the main, my Insane Fish was accurately described as the flavours are in fact insanely perfect. I devoured my whole barramundi fillet and savoured the ginger consume. This is seriously good food!!

Happy 21st Anniversary, hereโ€™s to another 21 years!

Best pho with extra veggies on this side of Vic street! Cheap food and wonderful staff serving you . Will definitely be coming back with the real Jenny Craig

Minh Minh you have done it again! Under new management and its great. The menu here is great ๐Ÿ‘Œ As a family run restaurant one of my favourite kinds it hits the nail on the head. Great flavours and presentation you had almost fall out of our seat
Flying Forward
Having been established in Richmond for over 20 years, Minh Minh is no stranger to the Vietnamese culinary scene in Melbourne.
The family restaurant has curated a menu of the most popular Vietnamese, Lao and Chinese dishes over the years.
The menu is not the only thing that has been curated, as lovely pieces of artwork, design and photography cover the walls.

There is a variety of individual and sharing style plates โ€“ I decided to grab a few dishes with steamed rice. Very homely and comforting.
โ€ข Lalot โ€“ awesome grilled flavour with juicy minced beef inside the betel leaves, which give it a light herby flavour. The fish sauce dressing is already on the base of the plate and gives the dish another dimension of flavour.

โ€ข Saigon Street Fried Pork โ€“ Fingers-wide strips of pork chop are battered, fried and dressed in a similar fish sauce dressing to the lalot. Refreshing with the crunchy coleslaw and thin onion.

โ€ข Insane Fish โ€“ A whole side of barramundi has been filleted, battered and fried and was dressed with a lighter fish sauce. Great crunchy texture with the batter and a firm, satisfying texture on the fish.

In hindsight, all 3 dishes had an element of fish sauce dressing, but the menu didnโ€™t say the Lalot or Insane Fish included this. I could have really enjoyed a simple soup, like a canh chua (sour soup). Nevertheless, all dishes were delicious in their own right and I cleaned up.

The restaurant only has a BYO license but fortunately, there is a bottle shop a couple doors down.
Minh Minh is well recommended for family style, safe-bet Asian cuisine.
Thanks to the team for inviting me!
Good Food Good Mood
We were invited to Minh Minh tonight a bustling little restaurant on Victoria st with some seriously impressive atmosphere. Itโ€™s by far the most modern space of the many Vietnamese restaurants on this strip.

To begin we ordered the steamed prawn dumplings with ginger, sesame and soy. They were so unbelievably delicious we swiftly ordered a second serve. They may very well be my favourite prawn dumplings ever. Equally yummy was the beef curry puff which had a ripper little peanut sauce accompaniment.

For main we had the the chicken wok wok Thai and the insane fish. The wok wok noodle dish wasnโ€™t particularly saucy but was quite enjoyable. The fish however was the standout, a crisp barramundi fillet with punchy well balanced flavours. There was sweetness there was heat and it was absolutely delicious. Look out for the nightly specials too. Another perk here is the byo which seemed super popular among the diners

Eh! An average feed but I guess you get what you pay for! Came here because of the great rating but unfortunately left a little disappointed. The food was fresh and quick service but no better than your local take away
Sunny Days Melbourne
Minh Minh Saigon Soul is a great place for a meal. The place has been freshly updated and I really like the lay out of their easy-to-navigate menu. Their banquet options are very attractive.

It was a pretty hot day so it was lovely to be able to cool down with some fresh coconut water. We ordered a variety of interesting dishes. The main star of the day was the Insane Fish. The crispy barramundi was cooked perfectly and drenched with an exciting sauce which had a mixture of sweet and salty flavours.

The beef wrapped in betel leaf was amazingly tender and juicy. The sauce was not overpowering and went well with the beef.

The Crazy Chicken Ribs were very tasty albeit slightly too salty but if eaten with rice, this was not a huge problem. The pho had generous amounts of beef in it but I reckon Minh Minh Saigon Soul is more a place where you should be ordering dishes rather than pho. Their dishes are truly outstanding.

Service was relaxed and efficient. We really enjoyed our lunch here and will be back soon!
FOOD TRIP
Minh Minh Saigon Soul has been a long standing restaurant of Victoria Street serving up some delicious fusion dishes. Their extensive menu has dishes with Vietnamese, Thai and Laos flavours which allows you to try a bit of everything. Friendly service and some amazing foods. Would recommend!. Fresh Coconut Juice $7

We were kindly invited to Minh Minh Saigon Soul for dinner on a Saturday night. Thien, the owner, had previously also invited us to his wifeโ€™s restaurant, Saigon Soul in Ascot Vale, for a delicious meal.
We were greeted warmly by Thien and seated immediately. He said, โ€˜Iโ€™ll get you some juiceโ€™, and I was so happy to have a 2 cold fresh coconuts brought to our table on this seriously hot night. The coconut juice was amazing - sweet and refreshing.
We asked Thien to recommend some dishes to us. He suggested the lalot which is grilled beef in vine leaves and the quail for entrees. The lalot was juicy and grilled well, with just a little pink in the middle. The vine leaves added a herby taste to the lalot, which, combined with the nuttiness of the peanuts and the savouriness of the beef, was the perfect way to start the meal. The quail was tender and the seasonings packed a punch! It was spicy, savoury, sweet and herby.
The mains that Thien suggested were the fried barramundi and the fried chicken ribs. The fish was cooked so well - crispy on the outside, soft on the inside and soaked in ginger and fish sauce and topped with salad which gave it lots of flavour. The chicken ribs was my favourite dish - juicy, finger-licking, meat-falling off the bone, tender and moreish! The sauce was well-balanced and so good to eat with rice.
All in all an excellent meal - loved the friendly service and lovely atmosphere and best of all the food.
Thank you Thien for another great meal. I highly recommend this place for modern Vietnamese food.
Some Bunee Loves Food
Minh Minh Saigon Soul is situated on Victoria St, Richmond and quite easy to get to via the tram from the CBD.ย

For entrees, I ordered the sensational special duck spring rolls which had duck pieces, bean sprouts, green capsicum, carrots, onion and a home-made fish sauce to dip in. It came with lettuce to wrap the springroll as well, which was a good combo of flavours and textures. The spring rolls were very crunchy and arrived freshly fried and piping hot, although was a bit plain when eating by itself though.

I also tried the Crazy Chicken Ribs which were slightly spicy with Tomyum sauce and comes with fresh coleslaw. The flavours were so good on this one - it was almost like korean sweet chilli chicken style, but more flavourful and addictive! My family loved this dish as well!

For the main, I had the chilli pho beef noodle soup. As it wasn't the traditional pho noodle soup, it was quite spicy for me, but the soup was very rich and a bit of sweetness in it. The beef wasn't chewy at all which was good, and it came in large pieces.

Overall, I enjoyed my dinner at this restaurant. Thank you for inviting me.

3.5 star โญ๏ธ I was invited to Minh Minh to try their food the other day. Minh Minh is situated in amidst many Vietnamese restaurants in Richmond and I must admit, if I wasnโ€™t invited I would have walked past it because when I am in Richmond, it would either be to have pho or Jinda Thai!

Minh Minh do have pho, but by all accounts it seemed as if their other dishes are more popular. The restaurant has an iconic orange wall with mural of a Vietnamese girl and Vietnamese straw hats decorated the walls of the restaurant. It has a nice homely atmosphere however I found their air conditioning lacking.

Minh Minh was BYO and there is no corkage charge, which was a plus, and I saw a lot of people bringing wine in.

We got a few dishes to try which was highly recommended by the owner Thien. We started with crispy quail, beef wrapped in betel leaf then moved onto the mains of grilled chicken and steamed barramundi.

The crispy quail had all the yummy flavours going, but it was slightly let down by the dryness of the quail. We both thought it might have been slightly overcooked.

The beef wrapped in betel leaf though ticked all the boxes and we scoffed those down in a jiffy.

The mains followed pretty quickly after, and the grilled chicken (called East Meets West) was full of flavour and the meat was succulent! I did feel that the dipping sauce was slightly on the sweet side and decided to abandon that fairly early on.

The generously portioned barramundi was maybe a touch overcooked (and I am really being picky here), and I frowned as it was swimming in soy sauce. However, the soy it came with wasnโ€™t too salty and it actually enhanced the freshness of the fish. For a person who tries not to have rice I actually had another serving of rice just so I can eat more fish and sauce and rice.

Overall I enjoyed my experience in Minh Minh, and I understand that Tien has recently taken over from his Aunt so given time and a few minor tweaks and this would be highly recommended place to wine and dine!
Crabapples For Lunch
We were very kindly invited to dine at Minh Minh Saigon Soul in exchange for my honest review. We came here on a Sunday lunch and it was not very busy. The owner and manager Thien was in charge of the floor and was warm and friendly throughout (not just to us but to the other customers as well). The decor had a modern vibe and was otherwise functional. They seem to cater to quite a lot of western customers, judging from the customers dining this afternoon and the fact that they provide wine glasses. The air conditioning wasn't on, though that didn't bother us for the most part - it did get just slightly warm towards the end of our meal though, but I didn't think it was a big deal as the weather was mild outside.

Now I'll be honest: if I had walked past a place like this and looked at the menu, I probably wouldn't have been tempted enough to give this a try, as I am generally wary of Asian restaurants that serve dishes from different countries (it gives me the impression they can't tell the difference between their cuisines and think they're all the same).

However, in this case I would have missed out, as the food was fantastic. We had the quail, duck spring roll and lalok (beef wrapped in vine leaf) entrees, the steamed barramundi, tiger prawns, and snow peas with tofu and mushroom share plates. Every single dish was outstanding and the food came out promptly. The quail was boned, but wasn't too difficult to eat without getting your hands dirty. It was crispy on the outside and quite soft on the inside. The duck spring rolls were tasty, bigger than your average sized spring rolls, but they only come in a serve of 2 for $8. The beef wrapped in vine leaf (7 for $12) was very tasty. I wouldn't usually order something like that but it came recommended and we really enjoyed the depth of flavour and textures.

I expected the larger plates to, quite frankly, not be that large, as you'd get with many of the more modern Asian restaurants. But wow, the portions were generous. There were 8, very good sized prawns in the dish, de-veined and perfectly cooked, plump and crunchy. And it came with a sauce that was delightfully sour and sweet - I was lapping it up on its own at the end. I expected a small barramundi fillet but the piece that came out covered most of the plate. Steamed well and soft, with a soy based sauce quite similar to Chinese cooking. The snow peas also had a really tasty oyster sauce that came with it, and was well cooked of course.

The main weakness of our menu was the dessert. We ordered the banana fritter with ice cream, and it came with, again, a gigantic and generous fritter with 2 scoops of vanilla ice cream, topped with crushed peanuts and chocolate sauce. The ice cream was fine, and the fritter had a nice crunchy coating. However, the main problem was the banana they used wasn't ripe or sweet enough, and was pretty much tasteless when we ate it. To be fair, I find it difficult to find the really sweet bananas here that you can easily get in Southeast Asia; the ones here may be big but they pale in taste. However, it would have been much better if they used smaller, and more importantly ripe or over-ripe bananas instead.

For the price, I actually think it's pretty worth it. You could have a cheap meal here if you just ordered a pho or something, but the larger plates, at about $22, are generous and what most people would probably come here for. For what you get, I'd actually rather eat here compared to your typical Chinese restaurant where the share dishes costs $25-30+ and portions aren't as generous. Plus, they have various banquet options available at $25-35 per person, though there is a 4 person minimum for those.

I can honestly recommend this place for a modern take on Southeast Asian cuisine that is generous and delicious. Thank you very much Thien and Minh Minh Saigon Soul for inviting us to dine at your well-run establishment :)
Daisy Never Too Sweet
Richmond is Asian food heaven especially Victoria St. Minh Ming Saigon soul has been on the street for more than 21 years and before my recent visit, I had actually visited with my god father many years ago. Minh Minhs original owner has required recently and her nephew has taken over and given it an update and fresh look. However, keeping the iconic orange wall with the photos/paintings.

The restaurant is primarily asian fusion taking inspiration from Thai, Vietnamese and Chinese dishes. Being a lover of asian food it was person for me.

I tried the following dishes
- chilli quail
- steamed barramundi with chilli, soy sauce, ginger and spring onion
- crazy chicken ribs
- Lalot grilled beef in vine leaf
- fried ice cream (canโ€™t find the photo)

All dishes were packed full of flavour and could probably be too much for some. But being Chinese those are the flavours I am use to and want in these dishes.

Overall, really enjoyed the experience and found prices to be very reasonable. Definitely put it on your list to try next time to visit Victoria St, Richmond!
Linnie Eats All The Food
Richmond is known for all their restaurants and good food and on the main street sits Minh Minh Saigon Soul. Opened for such a long time and having undergone a new facelift. The decorations were oh so cute and the mural on the wall was beautiful. However, the tables and chairs didnโ€™t really suit the restaurant but thatโ€™s another story.
Olive Sundays
The eating options are endless when you're on Victoria street in Richmond but Minh Minh Saigon Soul is one that will keep you coming back. They specialise in traditional Vietnamese food and have a modern style when it comes to presentation. They have wine glasses on the tables for BYO or you can do what I did and get a big fresh coconut fro drink instead. The roof is covered in Vietnamese hats and the walls are covered in Vietnamese photos and artwork which give the restaurant a warm and inviting ambiance.

Flavourful Vietnamese food with a tasty twist. Been obsessed with their crazy chicken ribs and shaker squid. I highly recommend the prawn dumpling pho as well, such a healing soup. Prices are reasonable comparing to servings and quality of food. Staff were friendly and attentive. Would definitely bring my family and more friends here.

This is a great casual meal with very friendly staff and good service. The east meets west chicken was excellent. A little Smokey with a delicious lemongrass sauce. I found the salt and pepper calamari too salty for my taste, but the calamari was very fresh. The insane fish was also very nice. Unfortunately, all the main dishes we chose today were deep fried. The vegetables were very good too. And rice for two was enough for 4 people. Itโ€™s a nice cosy place I want to go again to try more.
Food Comatose
Nestled amongst the masses of Asian grocers and restaurants on Victoria Street; the major thoroughfare affectionately referred to as Melbourneโ€™s Little Saigon, Minh Minh stands proud with a 20-year history serving up authentic Vietnamese cuisine.

Husband-wife duo Thien Le and Tien Phung run the family-owned business, taking the baton from Thienโ€™s aunt and former owner. The restaurant is warm and inviting, with bright orange walls, a feature mural, and a touch of nostalgia with vintage Vietnamese posters, art and photographs.ย

Thereโ€™s no mistaking the delightfully simple and fresh flavours Vietnamese food brings to the table, and Minh Minh nails it.ย The menu boasts an array of traditional Vietnamese dishes with an interesting modern twist, as well as versatile options for the Vegans, Vegetarians and Gluten-Free guests.

Although itโ€™s difficult to cherry-pick from the impressive menu, some standout dishes include the Prawn Dumplings with ginger, sesame and sweet soy, the Crispy Quail and the Steamed Barramundi fillet with ginger, garlic onion and Chinese broccoli. Canโ€™t decide? There are generous banquet options starting from $25 per person - perfect for large groups and ravenous diners/piglets (like myself). Oh, and did I mention itโ€™s BYO booze? It doesnโ€™t get much better than this!

Just do it. All food was great and the number of younger diners indicates (my son) โ€œgreat food and good valueโ€). Will be back. Spring rolls, rice paper rolls, pork, duck were all fantastic. Byo with bottleshop next door

Minh Minhs has gone through a bit of a facelift recently. This place previously made our top two Vietnamese eatery picks for Victoria Street so was interested when we got invited in to try out the new menu. Plenty of classic Vietnamese flavours appear in the menu but the dishes have been modernised in appearance while still retaining
That classic taste.

We couldnโ€™t not try the quail which had a sticky spicy sauce and was the perfect nibble. The prawn dumplings were a serve of four but were giant.

Our favourite main was the Week to Week steamed Barramundi with ginger, spring onion, garlic sitting on a bed of broccolini stalks and with a smooth tasty sauce. This was a great tasting healthy dish that would be perfectly paired to rice.

Another cracker of a dish was the Shaker Shaker Squid with was a crunch flash fried calamari with a salt and pepper seasoning. The salad served with this dish was perfect to accompany the crispy squid with each mouthful.

I liked the satay of the vegetarian pad viet which was a perfect example of fresh. Mix the dish together and Enjoy with fried tofu and noodles along with fresh salad.

Minh Minh with still offers BYO wine and beer with very reasonable corkage so although it has been refreshed it will still fit in to the locality and what we all expect and enjoy about this authentic dining precinct in Melbourne.

Minh Minh is a modern vietnamese restaurant located in North Richmond. We were invited in to try their food and we were't disappointed.

The place is really well decorated, we can tell a lot of thoughts have been put into the design. The ceiling is full of vietnamese hats, where a lady painting on the wall really gives this place amazing vibes.

We entree, we had the crispy quail, steamed prawn dumpling and curry puffs. They were all really good! The quail is our favourite out of the three, chewing the meat off the bones was delicious.

For main, we had the insane fish, which is a steamed barramundi fillet with ginger, soy sauce and chinese brocolli. It went really well with warm rice. We also had the East meet West, which is a dish full of deep fried ribs. There ribs were also amazing.

Ray
Really good service and good tasting food. There was a wide variety of entrees however the mains had a lot of fish dishes but missing some of my Vietnamese favourites. The chilli pho was really good, had amazing flavour. The fried rice was a bit average, the fried ice cream was ok, but wished it didnโ€™t get covered in store bought chocolate syrup. Portion sizes were a bit small. Staff were friendly and helpful.
Gabriela
Very friendly staff and delicious food. Fresh and flavorful. Happy to find a place where you taste real ingredients and not flavours from bottled and artificial sauces. We will come back.
Bianca Grech
I saw the photos online and i was very excited to go and try the food. I was surprised at how well the food was presented and the photos online did not do it justice. First time going there and i was genuinely happy with the food and service. The only downfall was that i should have brought with me a bottle of wine to also enjoy with the delicious food. Cant wait to go back!

A few years ago, Minh Minh was one of the best on Victoria St. It sadly went off a little but is now on its way back! Slightly more expensive than other places in the area but worth it - there's a more sophisticated cheap and cheerful feel to it.

Food was excellent. Lab nua initially looked disappointing - as a beef salad I should have read the menu more carefully :) This was not Vietnamese slaw! But the beef was divine. Salt & spicy pork (battered pork) received a huge thumbs up and the prawn special rice very tasty (made a change from boiled rice!). Less than $45 for essentially 3 mains. We will be back.

Have been back three times since initial review and expectations were high but duly delivered. Groups as well as duos - and all gave the food a huge thumbs up.

Went here last night with 5 mates and had an awesome time! We were looking for cheap and cheerful and this place did not disappoint. It wasn't overly busy or loud for a Saturday night so we could actually have a nice chat.ย

Food was realllllly good. The crispy calamari is some of the best I've ever tried. I ordered the Singapore noodles and they were delicious and the portion size was HUGE! The owner (I believe) was taking care of us and she was hilarious and so welcoming. She really made our night.ย

Bonus for BYO! 10/10 will be back.

The best Spicy Quail in Melbourne or anywhere for that matter!!! Excellent service and we always go back for regularly because of the quality and friendly service. Our boys 6 and 3yrs love the food. Easy BYO and enjoy!!
Mark White
Usually quite busy on weekends, but a bit dingy. Could do with a makeover. Food was on par, nothing special. Plenty of better options down Victoria St.
Theknifeandforktalk
Amazing staff with beautiful dishes on offer. Food was fresh and of great quality. Perfect to share with a group of people. Highlight was the calamari and the steamed wontons! Definitely recommend and will be looking to come back soon!
Jack
Ok so, the lady bringing us the food was wasted. She was drinking wine with some customers, ok, that's kind of cute. But then she began to be really rude to my friend for no reason whatsoever. She then forget our order, and insulted my friend as we were leaving. (he did nothing and was polite and friendly). The food was very average and the venue is dingy. Give it a miss.
Mark Sobiech
Always great food, hilariously fun staff and very cheap pricing. A regular now for 15+ years. Certainly the best on Victoria Street, highly recommended.
Kye Williams
Absolutely the best restaurant on Victoria Street - you cannot fault the food. Highlights are the Vietnamese coleslaw and the salty calamari. DELICIOUS! Great value, incredibly friendly service.
Bob Edwards
Entrees came out at different times despite being told they would come all at once. Food ok but nothing to rave about. Service not outstanding. A couple of mains came out when everyone else had finished and an entree that was mixed up came out just before that. One main was minus the cashews so they were brought out half through the meal in a dish!! She did let us split the bill which was a positive. For country people we though toilets had a similar smell to mice; not that clean either. Don't think we'll be back. Maybe Lygon St next time!
Tess
My favourite place on Victoria St. The rice paper rolls, vermicelli, and steamed wontons are amazing. But the outstanding dish is the calamari - oh my god this calamari is insane. Best customer service on Victoria St by a mile - Sandy is the best person in the world. Very cheap and very clean! Go there!!!
Mira
Entrees were okay with spring rolls quite nice. However, mains were very blah and service was pretty non-existent. Won't go back. Not recommended.

I've ordered from this restaurant through uber eats multiple times. Everytime, the food has been delicious. My favourite are there special chicken wings. Juicy and crunchy and the sauce that comes with it is awesome. The chicken fried rice is delicious as well. In addition, they provide me with extra hot sauce which makes the dish even more tasty. Still one of my favourite go to on a weekend.
Luce Tissot
This place is incredible. The staff are fantastic! Such great fun and the food is to die for. They'd do anything for their customers to make your time there awesome! Coming back here x1000000
Jasmin Bleeks
Great food, with wonderful service, Sandy was an absolute delight and we can fast see this becoming our local joint. Good set of special dishes, ample servings and some wonderfully flavoursome sauces. Stand outs included the rice paper rolls and the yum tofu - which wholly lived up to its name.
Hungry Habit
Randomly walked in here because the menu was so cheap... Food is so super delicious and Sandy is such a delight, in 45 minutes she told us several stories that had us in stitches.

It said no split bills at the counter, but sandy said no worry, who care and she split our bill, and then also took $1 off each main meal we ordered.

Defiantly will be back for the food and mostly for Sandy.
Nick Bassett
My all time favorite on Victoria Street.
Good food, great fun and always guaranteed to run into people I know there.
The lovely Sandy is heaven!

What a crack up this place is - in a good way. Last night was our 3rd visit in a month. Loud, noisy, crowded and yummy food. It's like a free holiday to Asia! The food is good. Cooked quickly, fresh ingredients (last night the beans were being trimmed by a waitress in the restaurant!). Have the spring rolls - they come with dipping sauce and lettuce to wrap them up in. Lightly battered squid with salt and pepper sauce is delicious. Mongolian beef is good. Prawns also good. Can't wait to go back to try other items from the menu.
BYO and there is a bottle shop a few doors up. This is a cheap and cheerful place. Don't expect fine dining. The owner is very entertaining to watch as she seats and serves her customers.
C. Edward
We love this place clean, fresh food and very flavoursome. We live right near Victoria at and this is our go to restaurant. Sandy the owner is an absolute treat. You must try.

I love this place! Very pleasant staff, good costumer service! Either lunch or dinner, this place is good to visit. Love the food. Must try the spring rolls! I just can't remember the name of the other food but it's curry I think. Sorry I'm so focused on the taste. Been here many times and every time it's great! Highly recommended!
Kate Parker
One of my favorites on Victoria st and Lao options provide a nice change to traditional Vietnamese. Wontons are delicious, and the beef Phat Bai Ka Phrao is a must try.
Melbourne Food Review
This used to be an old favourite that I would visit relatively frequently, but this time around I was quite disappointed. We started with an order of rice paper rolls, an all time favourite. They were ok, but compared to another all time favourite down the road, Thy Thy, (review coming soon) did lack a lot of flavour. Still, they make great sharing starters and they were fresh at least. We then starte

We were shown to a table immediately, near the entrance and window, which was pleasant. The service was a bit hit-and-miss - but I have a feeling it's not really the focus of most Victoria Street restaurants. We'd brought a bottle of wine, which was promptly opened and poured, and our order of prawn and pork rice paper rolls for a shared entree also arrived very quickly. The dipping sauce was delicious: sweet and thick, with peanut and onion bits.
Danielle
... I was thrilled that we had such a good meal and was thoroughly amused by the entertaining waiters andโ€ฆwait for itโ€ฆ the dessert.
Nico
Delicious and Friendly. I love this restaurant. Every meal I've ever ordered here has been superb, and the staff are friendly, knowledgeable and efficient. Its noisy, busy, and bustling, and always a fabulous dining experience.
BIGSPAG
Magnificent. Great food and quick.
Cremorne Local
Delicious!. Wow, this place is great! I went here the other night and started with the rice paper rolls, followed by a spicy vegetable dish and sweet & sour chicken on rice. I was in flavour country! Every mouthful left me wanting more. I will definitely be back :)
Mario
Food was just "ok". Very disorganized; had to repeatedly ask for water, rice, serviettes, etc. We arrived right on our booked time and our table was occupied by other customers. The noise level was unbelievably high!!! Drove us mad, could not keep up a conversation. Just wouldn't bother going back; too many better ones in that street!
Jan_bayliss_mbb
A favourite in Victoria St. Where do I start. The best spring rolls, compared to Victoria St and Springvale. There is no better Crispy Quail than here. The Thai fish cakes are awesome. Then there is the Chilli Beef, the chilli and lemongrasss calamari, salt and pepper calamari. We have been coming to the Minh Minh for over 15 years. The food standard is always high. We love it and will always be back.
Manmar
Really good!. Food was fresh & piping hot. We had spring rolls, a beef dish from the specials menu that turned out to be loaded with butter & cream, much to my horror, but was one of the best things I have ever eaten!! (I was advised by the owner not to worry, the fresh vegetables I had eaten would cancel it out) The chicken with chilli & lemongrass was excellent. The lady who runs the place is hilarious, and interacts well with her clientele - she was greeting & seating her customers like old friends, several different tables, they were obviously regulars, as we will soon be. There are many Vietnamese restaurants on Victoria Street, and only a handful that are really good. This is one of them.
Sarah Moylan
Amazing food! One of the best Asian places in Melbourne. Good stuff!
Thecolouringbox
Dissapointing. I really don't know what people are raving on about! It's pretty average in taste. We went based on the reviews here..
The worst Pad Thai i've ever had.. really greasy and a bit too sweet, the peanuts were burnt and not fresh tasting like how I envision it to be.
Thai green curry was thick with cornflour - no lime or corriander. Such a shame! I think its tailored for a more westernised pallet. Just quite disappointing.

The Byob is good and the staff were super nice but for food, no thanks.
Stanaman60
Just like home. Been coming to Minh Minh for a number of years and Sandy greets and treats us like family, this is my first review of Minh Minh. The food is great with a very wide variety. One of our favourites is the sugar cane prawns that you wrap in lettuce with vermicelli noodles, carrots, cucumber and nuts (see photo). When we can't be bothered looking through the menu we just ask Sandy to surprise us, to date we haven't been disappointed. Food is always fresh and the sauces and home grown recipes always delight. Whether you come as a group, couple or single we are always looked after. As far as value for money goes, I'm not sure there are many places that can match. Minh Minh is fully byo, so you can bring your own beer. Makes for a very inexpensive dinning experience.
Leon Poggioli
Great all round cheap meal. Good spot, fast service, bottle shop next door for BYO. The hostess said we'd picked the best things on the menu, does she tell this to everyone? I probably would believe her because they were pretty good (vermicelli beef and pork)

Bill for 2 people with an entree was only $29 that's genuine 1972 prices folks
Rachel Dennison
After finding recommendations on urbanspoon I'd highly recommend Minh Minh. food, service, ambience and value was fantastic
Daniella
We visited this resteraunt after our five week trip throughout south east Asia. Although the service was good and the dishes arrived promptly the quality and authenticity of the food was not impressive. Yes we were comparing to our recent colonary experience throughout Asia however when a resteraunt rates highly in Melbourne it needs to deliver. Most of our dishes were covered in heavy sauces masking the flavours of supposed trafitional dishes. We wouldn't return for a meal here.
Alyce-16
Viet for the Win!. I have been eating out at this restaurant for years & i have never looked back! If your one who is interested in quick, efficient dining & tasty cultural food then this is your place! The bubbly owner adds to the bustling atmosphere & the food is nothing but fabulous.. Have taken many of my friends & family here & have never been disappointed :)
Edward Vh
It's OK. Came here with big expectations... some locals said it was pretty good. Hell, the owner herself said she "made the best Pho". That's a pretty confident statement. I actually think that the owner should never brag about their own food. Thats up to the customer. Anyhow... I digress.

I ordered my staples: Vegetarian Rice Paper Rolls, and Pho Tai (Beef Pho).
For whatever reason, I find it very hard to find Vietnamese cuisine that stands out in Melbourne. The food here is not bad, bad it is very ordinary. Nothing to write home about. The prices are good, the service is so/so.

I tend to go back to restaurants I like. I could give this one a miss to try another.

Rice Paper Rolls: 5/10 - Small, and the satay sauce was rather ordinary.
Pho: 6/10 (despite what the owner believes)
Service: 5/10

Consistently great food, great service and reasonable prices, will return soon,
been way too long!!

Good. Quick reliably good food. Will go back here again.

Best Vietnamese. Gluten Free tofu balls are amazing. Ask staff for recommendations. Vermicelli is amazing. Loved it here. Excellent food.
Rose Mercer
How do I love thee?. Returned to this busy eatery tonight, after a too long absence and the food is as good as always. In fact, Sandy still owns it and she remembered a couple of the dishes we always used to have. The chicken coleslaw is spectacular; the bbq pork ribs are still the best in the street, the rice paper rolls are fresh and tasty as ever. We will definitely not let so much time pass again before we return. AND it's very affordable.
Finn
Worst green curry I have ever had. A coagulated, gluggy sauce that relied heavily on cornflour made for a dinner I barely touched. Not up to Victoria Street standards.
Love A Chardy
Great Father's Day lunch. Booked for 12.00 pm which was perfect parked out the front & had great table downstairs before the big crowds arrived! Service was great the food very good. Cost wise not as cheap as some of the other compatible restaurants but would definitely recommend for quality and consistency. Very enjoyable.
Grome
Food Okay but not very Generous Serves. We used to come here occasionally quite a while ago but then had a couple of dishes that weren't up to standard so haven't been here for some time. Tried it again recently and whilst the food was quite tasty the servings were very mean. We had prawn spring rolls which were half as filled as anywhere else we've been, then beef and prawn soup which had one prawn in it. Finally broken rice and shredded pork. The amount of pork was so minute you almost needed a magnifying glass to find it. Very poor value.

Minh Minh is one of the best restaurants on Victoria Street! I go here regularly and it's always delicious. My favourites are Rare Beef in lime juice, chicken coleslaw, Beef in vine leaves and chilli and lemongrass chicken. The staff are friendly and efficient and the owner Sandy is an absolute gem! She is hilarious and a real sweetheart and will tweek anything according to your taste or preferences.
One night she noticed I had a sore shoulder and gave me a quick shoulder massage and even sent me home with a jar of tiger balm.
I have taken many friends and family here and we always walk out with a smile from ear to ear and we always go back.
Yummo
Delish. Delicious food, great vibe and amazing staff :) Great dinner!

First time I have been to Minh Minh. Service was great, food delicious. A great experience!!!
Chantel
Late dinner. A few friends and I went to Minh Minh Friday night for dinner. Food was delicious and hot. We had a few appetisers to share. The pork spring rolls with the dipping sauce were very tasty and the beef lemongrass skewers were fantastic. The only thing I would critique was the service, they seemed unorganised and brought the wrong food to the tables around us. But other than that it was a nice cheap dinner.
Timbo
Not your usual. Very nice on Victoria Street . Grumpy woman at times who runs the place but a lovely person who upholds strict standards. Has some lovely spice in some dishes which adds a bit of variety...

Enjoy - and try the fish!!

Worth a try !! Cash only or a % charged on credit.
Grant Deacon
Terrible food. Terrible service. Ok company was the only saviour. Pass a d go else where along vic street ladies and gentleman!
Con Man
Dissapointed. Found a finger nail in my dish.
I called the owner over and her excuse was "I always tell the girls in the kitchen to cut their nails short but they don't listen"
Neil Busacca
Great. Fantastic quail as always.
feel abit sorry for the little birds but sooo tasty.
get pretty busy at peak times - for good reason

A Richmond fave! We visit here at least once a month. Spring rolls are beautiful always fresh. The shredded beef in Peking sauce on sizzling plate, soft sticky and always yum. Staff are very friendly and always have a chat no matter how busy. Verh cheap very fresh food.

Love it!. I've been coming here almost weekly for years and absolutely love it!!. Nowhere else on Victoria Street like it. I crave the spring rolls.. Vietnamese salad and Mongolian beef.. Just a few favourites.. Don't bother with anywhere else on Vic st!..
Sarah
Good but over the top lunch prices. Just had lunch there and got a rude shock when we went to pay we were charged substantially more than the price listed on the menu. The chicken Tom Yum soup was listed at $7.50 and got charged $12 and my friend's plate of stir fry satay chicken & veg with no rice was charged at $17! When I queried the cost of the soup I was told that $7.50 was for a tiny rice bowl size - and this was not what the waiter had said when I asked what size the soup was prior to ordering! Won't be going back there again as despite being nice food, it was not worth the ridiculous prices!
Esteele
Spot on. This is one of the best Vietnamese/Asian experiences in Melbourne. The food is just perfect and the flavours are as authentic as you can get outside of Asia. The service is great and the quality is the same no matter how busy they are! I highly recommend this place and I will definitely be back. My favourite was mango prawn salad!
Christopher Alex Pavlidis Garkinis
Mmm Pok Ribs.... I come here every so often, been coming for over a year and really like it. But a stand out is that this is THE BEST Pork ribs I have tried in Melbourne, simply divine & so cheap. The owner explained that she had gotten her original recipe changed, due to some advice from a chef on her last trip to Vietnam. These Pork Ribs share equal first in Melb, in my opinion, with the Pork Ribs at Meat & Wine Co in Southbank.
Adubs
Have to go here. This place never disappoints us . the food is just GREAT!! Calamari to actually die for!! and very well prices and the owner i think she is, well she is always a bundle of joy, LOVE IT !!!
Idreamof
This place is so cute! Nicely decorated, lovely staff, cheap prices, and most importantly delicious food. I can't go past their vermicelli with grilled pork, I could eat it every day :D
Emily
Not an enjoyable experience.
We sat in a back room upstairs and were moved mid meal to a more crowded area, surrounded by three large tables all competing to be heard. Our meals took over 45minutes to arrive, when they did they were bland and the meat quality was poor. I was charged a 5% surcharge because we paid via credit card!
Superflorence
Fast, friendly and delicious!. Living right next to Victoria St, I have sampled a fair few of the restaurants and Minh Minh is definitely a favorite! Either for a lazy night of takeaway or a relaxed meal with friends, I'm yet to be disappointed!

The usual favourites, Mongolian beef, satay chicken, sweet and sour pork etc always hit the spot, but my favourites on the menu are the rare beef and lime salad, so refreshing and tasty, and the pork ribs!

The decor at Minh Minh is definitely among the best on Vic St, it's simple yet charming and avoids trying to be too modern. The atmosphere is always warm and fun, if a little noisy, and makes for a great place to start the night off with friends (maybe pop across the road to Seoul Soul for a more intimate setting!).

The fact that it also has a BYO license and is next to a great little bottlo tops it off as a great place to meet with friends and enjoy some great food and service!
Fish
Bustling Environment for a feed but it's a great place. It can get quite rowdy upstairs but it's entertaining. Quick service and fresh food - what more do you need. At $25 a head for the banquet our group of 14 left well and truly full. BYO is another drawcard. We bought in 2 slabs without issue. Of the food the picks were the wontons. Calamari and a spicy pork dish. The banana fritter was also pretty good! Definitely give this place a go. I'll be back again.
Jessi Alley
Amazing food... I keep coming back. Have to get the spicy salt calamari it is so tasty and a favourite! Tried many places on Victoria street, and this is the best! Tasty food, byo and much to choose from on the menu....
Jonoandmarji
Yum!!. Good quality food with fast service. Cusine- Viet, Lao and a touch of Thai. Shared entree and 4 main courses for a family of 4 all for $78. Not at all noisy as some other reviews stated.
Definately will return.

Satay chicken was awesome. Rice was gluggy however

A bit dingy, service wasn't super but the food came out quickly once ordered (was a busy Saturday night though so understandable), the staff were friendly and the food was fantastic!

Must be joking. Nice decor and friendly waiters with better than average food, however they tried to pass off a black bean sauce as a szechuan sauce in my prawn dish. And i spent 2 years of my life in Guanghzou.
Won't be returning.

Loves it. Friends suggested this place for a quck bite one night.
We were here for over an hour!
The menu is great and we all shared alittle of everyones choices. The staff are full on, all most crazy. Have not had this much fun in a restaurant in ages.

Good food, very fast and family friendly. Wow! Took the kids on Sunday night and what a great experience. Food was out in five minutes flat, was good and the kids devoured the wontons, the prawn crackers and the rices, plain and fried. Red duck curry was delicious, and the Lab Nua lovely and spicy. To top it off when no 3, 18-month-old started being tricky, they came and took her away..next sighted perching happily on the owners hip.
Noisy? sure it was, but that was all part of the atmosphere and the staff were attentive and friendly. Definitely be back.

Full of Flavour..... I have been to Minh Minh serveral times and the food is always fresh and authentic however the portions sizes are not always consistant.

Food so good the carpets eat it up!. Although Minh Minh looks dingy and run down, I believe this is the charm of dining at Victoria st. It's not pretentious, nor expensive and the staff are friendly and efficient.
The carpet was sticky and it seemed like some kind of sauce had seeped in to the floors but I think this is all part of the character of this special place!
I recommend the duck curry, red beef curry and san choy bow.
Family friendly, very cheap and fast service, right in the hub-bub of Victoria st!

Omg!. With the amount of vietnamese restaurants in victoria street you think it would be easy enough to find a decent one! after searching far and wide and having tried around 6-7, i came across minh minh. wow! huge selection of food, with both the stock standard asian dishes, mixed with new new and exotic. Waiters could have spoken better english, but still easy to understand. Amazing food, at VERY reasonable prices, very qucik also!!
you would be dumb not to try it!
will be back soon!~!

Good food but not co-ordinated. I still like this place after many years. Went on a busy Saturday night so it was quite loud but staff were friendly and joked with customers which always adds to atmosphere. Took a while to take our order though. Veggie spring rolls came out relative quick as you'd expect and they were good. Received our lemon chicken (also good) but no rice or other main meal. We sat for about ten minutes (no staff to flag down) before getting our other meal, and then I asked about the rice and they said that was still coming. Surely fried rice doesn't take long and it isn't hard to co-ordinate meals. That said, they were both delicious meals, and I'd go back in a heart beat but it just wasn't as quick as we had expected - but that gave us time to finish all our beers!

Fabulous!. Cheap, Delicious and timely. The waiters were really helpful when picking out dishes. The dishes were all reasonable in size and variations of rices, fabulous duck and great quail and spring roll entrees! A little cramped but not at all in complarison to most asian restaurants in this area. A must try!

Disappointing in every possible way. A group of nine of us went to Minh Minh for dinner last night; we chose banquet 3 and as a group, we left feeling as though we should've booked elsewhere.

The wait staff we encountered were so very rude; we'd barely sat down before we were informed that we had to be off the table by 8pm; this left us an hour only. From there we had most dishes brought out in a rush - in fact the final three dishes were presented at 7.50pm and we were actually reminded that we 'must leave'.

On to the food...it was stodge. The hand rolls were actually quite nice, however the remainder of our dishes left a lot to be desired and the fried spring rolls were fantastically terrible.

Decor was average at best; and to be honest I'd rather not have to sit on a padded chair which has a rip through both the vinyl and the padding down the centre of the seat.

No chance of returning here.

EXPERIENCE. Many a dandy will tell you that this place is the "best Asian food" in Melbourne, unfortunately it is not. Sandy and the staff are amazing, and as far as character goes, this place is great. The food is not bad for the price and the servings are average, but next time you walk past, look to see how many Asian Australians frequent here and ask yourself why (not).

Food 7/10
Service 9/10
Wine B.Y.O.

Eat here for the experience, Eat elsewhere for the food.

Thoroughly average. Our vege spring rolls were oily with burnt edges. They were refried. The calamaris were oily, looked off color and tasteless. Veges were not crisp fresh.

The salt and pepper squid was so crispy and delicious. Beef and scheuwan and many others also great. Cheap and even quiet if you sit upstairs and get there early (but not for long). Best spring rolls I've had in a while too. Yum yum yum. Helpful waiters although they are very busy.

Crispy is crispy not burnt!. Warm soft drinks.
Asked for water for four people got an old small Grolsh bottle with one glass
Over cooked crispy quail.
Forgot steamed rice, asked for it twice.
$28 for whole flounder that was burnt, dry and had only the equivalent of four table spoons of flesh...extraordinary! Complained about this and they agreed it was a small fish and gave us discount of $10....terrible meal. I wont continue with the description of the rest of our meal...it was just too sad.

Nice enough staff, nice fit out( except for the odd laminated signs stuck to the walls with sticky tape) pretty ordinary food. Strange pan Asian menu. Would probably benefit from sticking to Vietnamese menu.

Have eaten here twice in the past nothing exceptional, but nothing to complain about. Based on my latest experience will avoid this place in the future.

My favourite on Victoria street. I often think I should try one of the other many the street has to offer, but when I do I wish I was back at Minh Minh's.

Funny how caroline1234 wrote a "review" but never ate there. She couldnt have got to more wrong! Love this place. Food always fantastic, fast to the table and always correct order. If ever heading in that direction always my first choice.

Great Night!!!. Went last Thursday with a large party of around 20 or so. We got their pretty early and where shown upstairs to two tables where it was deserted, which made it easy to hear one another. We had brought our own drinks and the lovely young waiter put them all in the fridge for us and kept asking us whether we wanted another of our drinks brought to us throughout the evening. They were patient as we all discussed what meals to order and didn't hurry us along which was good since we were waiting on a few people. Most of the food was delicious. I'm not a fan of seafood but I was told that the calamari won tons were fabulous. I thoroughly enjoyed the satay skewers, the beef won tons and this pork dish that had the loveliest sauce. In fact out of everything we ordered there was only one dish we found that was a little bland. Everything else was eaten and the bill came to about $127 for our table which had 11 on it. The place did get busier as the evening progressed but the staff were excellent. They made a slight error with the bill, accidentally under charging us and were so apologetic about it we had no problem paying the difference. Overall I would defiantly come again and highly recommend it.

Brian. Caroline1234, your prejudices meant that you missed out on some of the best food in Victoria St. How could you know whether Vietnamese eat Mongolian Lamb? You might be surprised to learn that they eat French food!
Shireen Prasad
Yum. And good service
Andrew H
MSG overload!
Caroline1234
I walked in and then walked out.. Why?

1. When there is not one single person of Asian descent eating at an Asian restuarant, you know you're in trouble.
2. To have Mongolian lamb as a "special" in a restaurant spells trouble.
3. When their sign reads "Chinese, Vietnamese and Malaysian Cuisine" = run.

There are quite a few good restuarants well away from the train station that offer TRADITIONAL Vietnamese food.
CLEARLY, Minh Minh is a product of changing good Asian food to suit Western tastes. What a shame. It was probably decent once up on a time.
Lesson learnt - great Asian restaurants are rated by word of mouth.

Great value. Every time I eat at another cheap Asian restaurant I can't help wishing I was at Minh Minh!

Number 16 is best!

This one of the very best for an enjoyable experience....food, service and atmosphere Remember to book

Fantastic food, great service, one of my personal favourites in Melbourne.

I found the service was poor. Some people got food and others did not. It took 30 mins to get a drink there did not appear to be enough staff. What little food I had was good

A place to take people to :). Whilst we have our favourites on Victoria St, Richmond, there would be few to which we'd deign to take friends and associates. Minh Minh *is* one of these places, for Vietnamese and Laotian. Pricing is reasonable and cheap, for the reasonable atmosphere and decor. Food is reliable and solid across the board. Decent amount of seating as is multi-storey, but be careful on busy nights as service will dip slightly due to heavy customer load.
