Review Bierkeller - Richmond

Amazing spot. The friendly staff and owner always provide amazing service. The beer and alcohol offering is huge, plus the food is amazing. Definitely recommend! The outdoor seating is also covered and heated 👍👍 I recommend the pork hock, share between 2! Finish off with a schnapps from their long schnapps menu đŸ€©

They may seem a bit pricey but when you get your food it is really worth it. The food is exceptional and the staff are very friendly. The restaurant made me feel like I were back in Europe. The strudel is a must! I will definitely be back soon

Very homey lovely place. Huge meals that are outstanding quality. A retro ambiance and music. Terrific beers. Love the service and the whole experience.

The warm pretzel with additional onion dip was a fantastic starter and reminded me of Austria & Munich. The pork hock (pork knuckle) was juicy and crunchy. Good variety of beer with 1L steins available, will definitely be back!

Great variety of food and drinks. Awesome location and vibe. Be warned that the portions are much larger and great value. Thank you :)
David Hill
Great service, plenty of good German and Austrian beers on tap and on the menu, and the usual food options of pork knuckle, German sausage and schnitzel.
Graham Rodda
Interesting menu and friendly helpful staff. Food is fresh and tasty. Great range of beer and options to sit in or out.

Delicious pork belly. Amazing sausage. Awesome goulash. Excellent beer selection. And top notch service. I'll be back.

I visited Bierkeller a while ago for dinner with a friend.
Upon arrival I loved the feel of the restaurant - it was warm and cosy and made me feel like I was on vacation overseas.
The man who served us was very attentive and gave us a few recommendations from the menu.
I was a bit let down by the food though - it was nice but it wasn’t as good as I expected and overpriced for what was received.
I ordered the Bierkeller Kransky (big chilli cheese pork kransky) with a side of chips instead of mash. The kransky was nice, but there was not as much cheese in it as I would of thought there’d be and the chips a bit over cooked.
My friend got the JĂ€ger schnitzel that comes with mushroom sauce & Rosti. The schnitzel was a good size and there was a good amount of mushroom sauce, however it was a bit salty.
Overall an okay experience but I wouldn’t be rushing back.
If you are a big fan of Austrian/German food it may be worth a try.

I can’t begin to explain how perfect this restaurant is. Not only does it have good vibe, the decor and romantic blues music selection was in point. The food was amazing. My partner is German and he believes this is the best German/ Austrian food he has had I. Australia by far!
Thank you so much for this experience!

Excellent service, authentic and delicious. I also really enjoyed the interior decor.

This place looked cool as we walked past. $20 for a whole jug of Sangria. The option to sit outside was nice. The service definelty needs work

Had a great dinner at Bierkeller recently. We started with the beer bretzel accompanied with Austrian mustard (yum!!) and liptauer, a tasty cheese spread. We then shared the sausage platter and Bierkeller kransky (easily some of the best sausages I've had in Melbourne), pork hock (bit dry), beef gulasch (nice), wiener and cordon bleu schnitzels (a little on the smaller size and not quite as good as some others I've had recently). We finished with the dessert platter which was all yummy, although I particularly enjoyed the topfenstrudel which I've never had before. Overall, a great meal and I'll definitely be back for the sausages. Recommended.

Sat down out the front on the street on a beautiful night hoping to have a beer and eat, but was told the outdoor area was for smokers and we couldn’t eat, only inside, absolute joke! Had 1 beer and left to eat outside elsewhere. Service wasn’t great in that short time either. Shame as always wanted to go there but won’t bother

Pork schnitzel and the pretzels were ace. Curry ketchup goes well too. Had to drive so couldn’t have any beers. Here’s a doppelbock calling my name so I’ve got to go back.
Elaine
The food totally exceeded our expectations!!! I love the pretzel and the sausages were clearly freshly made and so well seasoned. We had a big group of us and I tried different sausages so can’t specify which they were, but they were all good!!!

The schnitzel was moist and the onion tart was amazing. The dark chocolate pudding was a dark chocolate lovers dream. Also loved the apple strudel!!! So totally coming back. Now a fan of Austrian food.
Lizzie Eats Melbourne
đŸ˜±Lizzie’s first impression: It was pretty quiet on a Sunday arvo but don’t let that fool you about the quality of the food - German food here was spot on!

đŸ©Lizzie enjoyed: the sausages were so tasty and had so much flavour. The pork hock was on another level - it was cooked perfectly with the crackling still crunchy but the meat just as tender. The potatoes at the bottom of the tray must be cooked in the meats fat as it tasted delicious! I also highly recommend the fries here too with the spicy mayo sauce. The desserts were also amazing - the warm apple strudel and the mohr Im hemd (flourless chocolate almond pudding) was something else!

🍅Lizzie did not enjoy: I would prefer some apple sauce to match the pork hock instead of all the sauerkraut on the dish

đŸ„‡Lizzie rates overall: A surprisingly great meal and worth every dollar I paid.

Cannot rate this place highly enough. The staff are so friendly and the food is A+!! Love the the Stiegl lager and the Bierkeller kransky! Best Austrian food around!

Only come here if you have 1.5 hours to wait for your food and deal with a very rude manager. We asked to check on our order after an hour’s wait and the manager had the nerve to tell us that this is not Mc Donald and an hour wait is normal. I’ve been to many other German restaurants and I didn’t had to wait that long!
Deanna Conley Richey
I love this place and keep bringing people back and I’m not even sure why exactly—it’s the vibe. It’s different—not your typical Asian, Italian, middle eastern fare so readily available all over Melbourne—authentic and kind of like being immersed in an overseas experience yet close to home. The food is amazing, tap beers interestingly different, service friendly, cozy yet festive atmosphere, and only a little pricey but worth it. Well done!
I went here for Mum’s birthday last week. We wanted German food and this place seemed like the best choice however we learned that BierKeller is actually an Austrian restaurant, oops 🙊.

For entrees we ordered the pretzel đŸ„š and some bread with dip. I really enjoyed the pretzel with the mustard and I thought it was better than the pretzel I bought from a food truck once.

Dad and I chose to share the roasted pork hock, the pork hock had some nice crackling and the meat was tender. It came with mustard and grated horseradish. I would’ve liked some apple sauce but maybe they don’t have apple sauce in Austria. My mum had the schnitzel which I tried, it was nice but I liked my pork a lot better. I didn’t enjoy my sister and brother’s meals but my sister must’ve loved hers because she ate it in world record time.

When we finished our meals we were way too full for dessert. The people working here were very friendly and the service was very good but it was a little overbearing. I’d come back here if I have a craving for Austrian food.
Charlotte
The food is absolutely amazing, the Liptauer tastes like in Austria! The service is really slow and to wait quite long for the food, like in Austria too ;) Wish they had more Austrian than German beer. All in all a great experience
Diana Johnston
The Food was fantastic we had the spinach dumplings and sausage tasting plate ( plus best garlic bread have ever had) service was exceptional
Kimberley Leggett
Great selection of European beers (including Gluten Free!) which is what I was after specifically after having a really good GF German Beer at a restaurant. Enjoyed sitting outside under the heater despite it being rainy and cold. Have not been here for the food yet, but will do next time for sure.

Love the authentic German-Austrian touches of this place from the wooden bar, table settings, decor and even the life-size mascot outside! I can imagine this place would be awesome for OctoberFest!
Riri
Came here with a group of friends trying to catch up. It can become a little noisy, as it has the pub feel. Our order took longer than usual but happy that servings were big. Customer service was good, and I like the vibe inside the resto. Great location for transport as it is just down Bridge road.
Austin Lee
Absolutely phenomenal. Top notch crackling on the pork hock, mind blowing kransky. Sausage to die for. Good for Christmas dinners! Atmosphere was warm and christmasy too. Service was great. Get a bit of Austria in Australia!
Catvole
Like the cozy family style and the extraordinary service. Heaps of choices for beer and wine. We ordered pork hock and the portion is generous which is more than enough for 3 people. Will definitely be back again

Came here for lunch and ordered the pork knuckle and giant pretzel. Glad we were hungry! The portion was enormous and the knuckle was crispy on the outside, moist on the inside...just the way it should be. The sides of sauerkraut and potatoes was good too.

Excellent value!
Whenfoodiesmeet
Bierkeller is a quaint German restaurant - a perfect go to place for Oktoberfest! The decor was very homey and welcoming and the pretzels here were just fantastic! We also loved the onion tart and the German sausages with sauerkraut! However towards the end of the meal we were feeling very bloated and we needed some relief! The beans had a crispy texture but it had too much oil and again it was a bit too heavy for our bellies. Nonetheless, just to mention again that the pretzels here are a definite must try !!
Searchingperfection
Yes! It is such a great pleasure to eat some german food around here. You feel in the alpes. Schnitzel. Weissbier. This guys know what they are doing! :)
Sarah Greg
The food here has never disappointed đŸ‘ŒđŸŒ tried it once with a voucher from groupon ( I think) probably one of the groupons we have ever bought! the pork belly is amazing! We have been back since

Visited this place for the first time the other night and I'll definitely be returning! Awesome choice of food and it was all delicious, staff were friendly and competent.

Dropped in for a couple of.beers at this German restaurant. The service was really friendly, chatty, and welcoming.

We had a pilsner and a dark beer. Soooo delish mmnn why was it a school night haha

I'll be back 😊

so my mother exists her room on instructs me to find a germanish restaurant because she has a craving for food specific foods that we ate when we used to live in Luxembourg. After a moment of panic (because I didnt know of any off the top of my head) i got to googling and realised the restaurant 5 mins away is in fact an Austrian /germanish restaurant. And what a great restaurant it was.
We ordered the Austraian tasting plate for 2 people which includes crispy pork belly, weiner schnitzel, beef goulash, a small variety of sausages and 2 salads. and since there was a third person we threw an a schnitzel cordon bleu for goos measure.
while the wait for the mains were a tad long (which reminded me of my says in Luxembourg even more so) the food was so amazing we didnt just forgive the wait but completely forgot about it.
We WILL be back.
and next time we will each get our own apple struddle!! (seriously don't skip it, its got to be one of the best ones I've ever had. the sweetness, the pastry, *drool*
KarlL
Tasty was near authentic , the service was a bit pushy but friendly too.
I ordered the Kassler with. Sauerkraut and Knödeln
Meal came out without the Knödeln (dumpling) when asking the waitress she wasn't sure if it came with dumpling.. she came back from the kitchen with a slice of knödel .. German cuisine needs the starch to have the starch to soak up the sauce. So bit disappointed also red cabbage on top of sauerkraut!!!!! Really not a good combo
Schnitzel was good size
Sausage fest was well done
Pork belly was good but again not enough starch for German standard.
Desserts were good only suggestion would be vanilla sauce with apple strudel .. ice cream is so Aussie..
But will be back was a great night and enjoyed the ambience
Christine S
Bierkeller!!
I have been wanting to come here for years... but I was always a bit worried about the Austrian food and that I wouldn't like it! I'm usually on a strict diet Monday to Friday so Saturday night meals are reserved for my 'cheat' meals!
Let me tell you, anyone who is in my position... come and dine here immediately!
The food is insane, our veil was cooked to absolute perfection!!! The service was top notch and we will end up becoming regulars!! I cannot rate this enough!
Bob's Bites
Everything we want. Great food, fantastic expert and attentive service. We had such a great time. Amazing food. We had the charcuterie for 2 which was delicious and generous. Followed by the share taster for 2 for main. It was all delicious Austrian food done incredibly well.

The staff were knowledgeable and suggested beer, wine and other drinks to compliment our food.

We will definitely be going back.

A little disappointed with the very long wait for the main. The taste is good but still can't help comparing it to HofbrÀuhaus.

We had dishes to share, starting with entree of meatballs, fried cheese and pretzel.
We had pork hock that came in a pan, assorted sausages, and a mix platter consisting of pork belly, Chicken schnitzel etc.

The portion were reasonably big to share in a group of 4 or 5. Selection of beer was amazingly long but when asking for order, only pilsner or ale was referred to.

It was not too busy a night and we were the largest table yet it appears they can't handle crowds.

Ambience is lacking with some minimal decor, including a polar bear at the front.

I would recommend HofbrÀuhaus anytime next time!

We had dinner at BierKeller tonight. We enjoyed a warm welcome to what is an eclectic German - Austrian themed restaurant / bar. The imported beers on tap were fresh and cold. The menu contains many German / Austrian favourites. We feasted on schnitzels and goulash. The food was tasty, fresh and hearty. The serves were generous. The service, although warm and friendly, is a bit hit and miss, it was quiet when we ate, but the meals took over 30 minutes to arrive, no explanation. I hope the service can be sharpened up as BierKeller is a welcome option on Bridge Road.
Great ambience and good selection on the menu. Reminds me of the time I was in Berlin, so that must say something about the
Authenticity this place! Legit
Richmondlocal
Good beer and the food was not bad either. Had the Schitzel - as you do - and was tender and nicely crumbed. Potato salad was ok, nothing special.

Always been a big fan of german weiss beer so these sorts of places are always good for me, if only for the ales!

Service was very on the mark, though borderline over attentive in moments. We were asked 3 times about ordering food within 10 minutes of sitting down with a beer.
Myk Law
Eaten here a few times now and always find this place consistent.
Pork knuckle for 2 is definitely worth the money. Lots of crackling and meat sitting on a bed of potatos and sauerkraut.
Also recommend the figs in blue cheese sauce and cheese dumplings.
The snitzels are delish and good wine and beer selection.
Inside dining area could have better atmosphere and light. Sit outside if you can.
Dirk
Quite good and worth a try; The food is solid although for me it's more "tourist" restaurant" food than Austrian/German pub food. Given there is so few other options on Melbourne it's not to noticeable. Perhaps try the Swisse Club for a closer traditional feed. That said I don't think this would bother most people. Just like it doesn't bother most people that our pizza is nothing close to a real Italian pizza. It's just what people are used to

Nice food and drinks. Lovely place. Good customer services.
I was there for my girlfriend's birthday party. It is very good one that made me satisfied.
Greg Vravnik
The food, service and range of Austrian and German beers are fantastic
I'm planning to have a large gathering of friends here
Very reasonable prices and portion sizes are great!!!
Thanks

We went after a long day to the Bierkeller for an good Austrian dish. The staff was lovely and very friendly, nice atmosphere in the Restaurant. Which is really nice, it's not overcrowded, big and hugely expensive.
Pink.rhapsody
We really liked the food and the beer was great. I especially liked the pretzel bred roll that comes with the sausage platter.

Will be back again.
Penguineats
Overall an outstanding tasting menu that allowed you to sample a wide variety of Austrian and Hungarian specialties.
Portion sizes were more than generous and tasted absolutely spot on for the most part.
I will be back to try the pork knuckle next time!

I found the food at Bierkeller honest and delicious. The servings are pretty generous and packed with flavour. I had the Jaeger Schnitzel which was really tasty. The veal was very tender and thin which most places get wrong. My wife had the Austrian mac & cheese which came with a side of salad. The nudel was really fresh and just how you get it in Austria. The service was super attentive and friendly. Thoroughly enjoyable night out!
Facebook User
the continental breakfast came with heaps of bread which was nice but not great, and not enough to go on it. had some cheese and nice preserved meats, but 6 slices of bread gets a bit old without more variation. would have been nice to have butter, or relish or some kind of sweet thing (especially as the breakfast came with fruit)the one pan brekkie was a solid 8/10, delicious flavours and your standard 'big brekkie' ingredients.

coffee was too hot, but surprisingly flavourful and not burnt. juice was pretty sweet but once the ice melted it helped.

service was very very friendly, but extremely slow. the food took 35 minutes to come out.
Homie
Not much to say. Service was good. Food was nice. Great spot to sit out front, talk garbage with the one you love, drink coffee, eat and watch the world pass by.
Choc Pudding
The reason i gave this rating is because i just had their hot cake with a scoop of ice cream which turned out to be a very small pancake for $16.50. There is no way you can justify that tiny pancake cost more than $10, say if ice cream cost $4 a scoop. And my friends said who had the ham hock that it was nothing special, the ham was not smoked as it supposed to be in the menu. Other than that, the place is pretty lovely with nice German touch and nice staff. But yes, surely it was a tiny brunch for that price.
Catherine
Really good, authentic Austrian food. The staff was so friendly and the atmosphere was great! and of course don't forget to get a good Austrian beer!

Very good experience at Bierkeller. Went for breakfasts/brunch on a voucher and had a one panned dish which was fantastic. Partner had a veggie dish which was flavoursome as well. She particularly liked the flavours of her Virgin Mary. Will aim to return soon.

If you want to go somewhere a little bit different for a drink and a meal this is the place. They pull off the German feel very well. With German beer and food it's a little bit of Germany in South Yarra. The Schnitzel was a no brainer (when in Rome) and with some beer it was a great meal.
Kotix
Hit the spot. Went mid week for a dinner, and got the share platter. Highly recommend. Very nice schnitzel, sauerkraut, great flavour pork belly. Comfortable, cozy and delicious. The Austrian lager on tap is one of the nicest beers I've had. Well worth a try, even if it's just for a pretzel.
MF
Bought a groupon voucher for breakfast, overall the food was okay, not that not special, but not bad. Pan breakkie was oily tho. Service was nice and friendly, but the kitchen was super slow that day, our food took more than 1/2hr to come out.
Might try their dinner soon.
Eeyore
We had a voucher for dinner. The atmosphere was very nice and very welcoming. Had loads of food to share and great beers. Just fantastic! Definitely will go back.

This was the second time we went to this restaurant. This place is a whole package! Awesome food, friendly staff, and warm environment! The shared platters are a combination of various kinds of food which you won't be able to make up your mind which one to finish with! When it comes to beer, you will find out what a pint of beer means in reality! Toilets are normally a place which normally do not grab any attention, however it won't hurt you if you go and have a look inside! There is also heaters outside, if you're an outdoor person! Look forward to dining in for the 3rd time :)

I went to BierKeller tonight. The service was very good and the food was yummy and big too. I ordered the sausages feast and the most delicious part was the bread roll. Very fresh and soft. I would say it's the best bread I've ever had. The sausages were fine, not much special but still tasted yummy. I would recommended to people who like big meal. The price is good too.

Had a Groupon voucher for brunch $29, was very tasty and filling. The eggs Benedict was tasty and smooth. The one pan was filled with an array of ingredients! Came with a choice of a number of cocktails, I had the Bloody Mary. Tasty and spicy. Definitely an amazing Groupon find!!! All ingredients fresh!

What an amazing restaurant - we were surprised it wasn't overflowing with people waiting for free tables! The divine waiter and gorgeous waitress were so warm and welcoming and gave us just the right amount of attention - checking we had water, wine, beer and that the food was being enjoyed. We were very impressed too that the selected wines were brought to the table in their bottles and served to us.

We shared a charcuterie plate which was wonderful with cold meats, olives, dip, terrine etc, accompanied by many different types of breads and beer pretzels. Fabulous. That was followed by a platter consisting of goulash, knackwurst sausage with sauerkraut, very yummy wiener schnitzel as well as a huge pork hock with much crackling and potatoes. Cucumber with dill and Potato salads also accompanied the main meal.

Just as we thought we had eaten more than we should have, the dessert platter arrived!! Austrian pancakes, apple strudel, cream, ice cream with hazelnuts. Brilliant.

Only downside - and certainly not the fault of the restaurant - was the limited parking in the area. Next time, I'll park further out and take the tram to the restaurant. I'll definitely be back. Thank you guys.
Stella.ryu.miso
One of the best Austrian/ German restaurants that I've tried. Staffs were very friendly and attentive and food were really delicious too. Even the desserts were so good. Will definitely come back :)
Jenn.lucinda
Delicious Austrian food with great service! Best German/Austrian food I've eaten in Melbourne and great selection of imported beers. We shared a selection of sausages, Wiener schnitzel, and kĂ€sespĂ€tzle, with strudel and glĂŒhwein for dessert. Absolutely delicious! Ben was particularly attentive and owner Rob was also very hospitable and welcoming. We'll definitely come back!

*Best place I have reviewed until now 29-05-2016- So read carefully *Went there yesterday with a group-on voucher. Reserving and booking was all good and we were treated with respect. Decoration is nice and you feel like you are in a Pub outside a Ski Resort, particularly with yesterday's cold weather. The voucher allowed us to try set menu of 4 6 Entrée, 4 main 1 salad and 4 desert but all in minuscule size of course but plenty for 2 people. Entrée was beautifully created on the plate. The meat platter was nice, radish and other picked veggies were really tasty and the berry jam looking thing was awesome. Pretzel and other breads were also given which were also good. For the main, sausage was average, beef goulash was so so, schnitzel which I suspect was veal was lovely again with the berry looking thing. Pork was good but it was very small portion and disappointing. Since the main was more like bit of everything , it was not great but I am sure if you actually go for a actual sized main you won't be disappointed.

Dessert was the decider between 4 or 4.5 score. When it came, we were like OK this is Master Chef quality of presentation. Crumbs were beautifully sprinkled around and over the apple strudel nutmegs and other nuts were nicely added to the deserts and that lovely berry thing was again a winner in dessert. If you see my pictures, there is something that looks like ice cream with pumpkin seeds and pumpkin oil. That was the highlight of all meals here. We were astonished and I asked about the name of it but the waitress mentioned this is like a special they make with voucher and normally you gotta request it outside of menu. Austria is famous for pumpkin seed and oil so there you this makes complete sense. Drinks: I ordered a dark benedikter which was very nice and later on ordered a Mocha with dessert and this place did a great job again and again! To date, this has been the best place I have eaten, great value for money, presentation and food. I will not give them 5 because the main was average. I have never given a 5 yet but again this has been the best food I have had in a long time. If anyone knows the actual name of the berry thing and the name of the dessert with pumpkin seed please comment below as I am interested.
Mariam
Went for brunch and enjoyed everything, perfect Austrian atmosphere, friendly staff, delicious food, nothing to complain about, definitely will be back again.
Mary Merrington
Went last night for dinner and everything was excellent! The atmosphere, service and food which was all genuine Austrian dishes like those I had experienced in Austria if not better with a slightly modern twist in presentation.
Ate 3 courses and we thoroughly enjoyed everything with an extensive range of choices of Aussie and European beers, wines, ciders and schnapps.
Everything indicated much attention to detail with staff of European or European descent adding to all its authenticity.
Ryan
Stiegel Bier... On tap- a five star rating alone!
The traditional Austrian menu has something to suit all tastes- as close as you get to the the real deal in Austria.
Very tasty, clearly quality.
We have visited a couple of times and never been disappointed.
Highly recommend!
Natalie Hart
My partner and I Glenn Poyser came here for date night! Didn't book, just wondered down Bridge Rd and went in.

Nice ambience - got seated at the bar which we were happy with. Ordered a meat ball and beer cheese fritter as started...meat ball was a tad dry, but still yummy.

Mains ordered the cordon Bleu and smoked Pork chop. The snitzel came with a side of potatoe salad and green something (which was really nice to cleanse the pallet) otherwise it would have been a really heavy meal! Pork Chop was nice....

Overall a nice meal, would I come back - not sure, it didn't sweep me off my feet!
KungfuKitty
Awesome pork hock! Crispy skin and juicy meat, better than some brauhaus that I've ever been. The schnitzel is very cripsy. Nice ambience. Good selection beers too. They have the 2L beer for $40! Perfect for a night out with mates.
Claudius Pseudonymus
Coupon $108 for 4 persons. Charcuterie Board with heavy crusty breads, selection of cured meats and warm freshly baked Pretzels was something to really get your teeth into and whet the appetite. Schweinshaxe-Steize was done really well. The crispy Pork Belly with braised red cabbage was also pretty good. Nice selection of tapped and bottle beers. Dessert Rum & Raisin Strudel and Flourless Choc Almond Pudding were pretty good too. All up... it was all right bcos drinks and dessert was incl in the coupon. Perhaps we'll try the Schnitzels and other beers-wines esp the Gluhwein etc on our next visit maybe in the Winter.

Oh, only criticism is that they don't do a Schwabischer Kartoffelsalat mit Essig & Ol. Their potato salad was really only boiled potato with a bland mustard sauce..... but, after all, this is an AUSTRIAN not a German-Swabian type restaurant... so can't really complain.

Service was friendly and informative. Settings were pleasant.
Elletee
We really enjoyed our coupon meal which consisted of tastings of the many offerings on hand. Nice premises with character. Extremely friendly and efficient staff who explained what all dishes were. And the food was fab. I love the chicken schnitzel - thin and crispy with the coating not stuck to the chicken (if that makes sense), yum goulash, great potato salad. The dessert platter was really really good. Flourless chocolate cake, strudel, ice cream. This is the best German/Austran restaurant we've been to.
Fussy Eater
Everything was disappointing. My weisswurst was boiled and flavourless and there wasn't enough mustard and horseradish to improve it (with these accompaniments being similarly dull - I don't know how). My partners portions were ample but the food was so lackluster he didn't want to eat it all (does a schnitzel really need to be plate sized?).

Drinks wise, my schnapps was on the acidic side and not in a pleasant way - it reminded me of stealing the booze my parents had on the side table throughout my teen years (they clearly didn't drink it for a reason) and my partners beer wasn't anything he would order again.

Our friends said their food was similarly meh. Good atmosphere but in my humble opinion they have focused on looks and portion size at the expense of taste. Although perhaps I am just not the target audience - those massive parma places attract a certain kind of crowd & I'm not it.
"JT" Jeffrie Trika
Too dimly lit.

Okay a little bit of Austrian with lots of German beers.

Been there twice, had variety from their menu.
The only concern was a very salty mushroom sauce on the Jaeger Schnitzel.

The place got atmosphere, need a bit more light inside and protection from Smokers' smokes getting inside the restaurant from the outside.

Service is A+

Apart from that the rest are fine and enjoyable.
The City Lane
Bierkeller is a place that I've walked past several times but never entered until recently. The beer selection is mostly imported German and Austrian mainstream beers but look in the fridges and you'll be surprised at the better than expected Australian craft beers and some interesting Belgian beers amongst others.
World In A Bite
Great little pub , good music & drinks ... Only came here for drinks - will try the food next time!
Timothy Cooper
Slow service and isn't even busy. There is cutlery on the floor and staff just walk literally on top of it and don't pick them up plus the floor is rather dirty for a place that has been open for service for only a few hours....
Miatiu
The food came out really slowly. Took over an hour between entree and main. I asked the smelly waiter for some water twice. Never came. The glass and cutlery were also very very dirty. We ended up not really eat any of it due to the fact we didn't want to get sick.
Gavin
After drinking a few glasses of water we noticed dirt and bugs in the bottom of the bottle. The manager was rude and did nothing to resolve the issue, insinuating we put the bug and dirt in the bottle.
Putfoodinme_
Finally came here for brunch after walking past so many times, and was pleasantly surprised by the deliciousness of the breakfast offerings. Service was a little on the slow side, but the food definitely made up for it. Highly recommend the Bierkeller Eggs (pumpkin scramble). So. Good.
Johan Snyman
Had lunch here with my wife. The beer was fantastic, albeit reasonably expensive. The pretzels were freshly baked by someone who knows how to, they were 1st class. Bratwurst was ok.
Hungry For More
Being German born and raised I had high expectations and of course they werent met. The service was friendly and the beer menu was satifactory however the food we ordered wasnt great. It was all okay and nothing wrong with it just not authentic or anything to rave about. Would i go here again?! Prob not.
Amy
Good atmosphere, good selection of beers and wine and excellent warm
Pretzels. Up the game on the sausage quality and this would be a bier perfect experience.

Birthday dinner with a group of 10. We opted for the share option, which the waiter suggested (it's not on the menu). It started with a selection of hot and cold appetizers, which were tasty and plentiful so we told the waiter that small to medium amounts would suffice for the mains. The mains included pork hock with sauerkraut, schnitzels, sausages, and roasts. It was excellent overall and certainly didn't seem like a small amount! We didn't think we'd be able to have dessert but were persuaded to have a small dessert platter with chocolate cake, apple strudel, and yeasty donut-like pieces, all of which was very tasty. Very enjoyable food, and a large beer and wine selection, though we were not that impressed with the four tab beers. The space is quite nice but doesn't have the rustic basement feel that the restaurant's name would suggest (which translates as "beer cellar"). Service was okay, a bit slow at times and didn't seem overly friendly. All in all our bill came to $70 per person, which is reasonable given the amount and quality of food and alcohol. A good choice for an Austrian / southern German dinner!
Tommy Barker
Had a lovely time thanks to the lovely service of Jimmy. 5 stars, very well deserved. The beer is fantastic, the food even better. Definitely coming back again!
Teepee
$26 for a tiny little portion of mac & cheese. it tasted like clag paste too, had to order some chips to numb the pain. at least they were good. overall, pretty disappointing and over priced.
Iain
I've only popped in here to grab a couple of drinks on the fly. Really great and relaxed atmosphere paired with quality German beers really encourages me to return here.
Finn & Filo Downunder
fantastic place - good music, lovely beer - nice stuff. Had only beers.. did nit eat, but next time will. Food looked really really good. Will update - after next visit.

Yummy German Fare. Tried this place last Friday night after not being able to get into Tres. We normally just go to Bier Keller for beers but we decided to dine this time though not quite sure what to expect. We were pleasantly surprised!! Gnochi, Goulash and Schnitzel were had by the 3 of us and all were delish. Not your typical goulash or Gnochi but different and all the better for it. Will definately be back to try something else on the menu.
Jay Kay
Authentic Austrian cuisine. As an Austrian expat here in Melbourne I do get the cravings for some authentic Austrian food every now and then.Enter OST. The food is delicious, especially the cheese dumplings (Kaesespaetzle) and the Austrian and German beers from the tap are a must as well.
Kick back and relax, enjoy a conversation over a few beers with your friends the European way and, if available, don't leave before you've had a piece of the apple strudel, it is devine.
Connie.lurger
Great food, great atmosphere. Amazing authentic Austrian food, good service, great atmosphere.
Highly recommend the Austrian and German beers on tap and the Gulasch, roast pork and the cheese dumplings!
Brent Gorno
Fantastic food, even better beer!!!
The service was great too.
Global Foodie
Loved It!. Thought this place was pretty awesome.. My partner loved the beer, I loved the wine. Pork was cooked well, the desert was awesome. Service was attentive yet gave us privacy (we were seated in private dining - even though it was just the two of us, not sure if he had arranged it that way but it was perfect). I will be back again with an entire crew of my friends!
Droverboy_2000
Austrian (Österreich) NOT German (Deutschland) Bar/Restaurant. For Gods sake, unless you enjoy peoe mistaking Australians for Americans or English. Respect a places ethnicity or cultural identity. Otherwise don't write an ignorant comment.
Aana
Be mindful..meal prices don't include GST. Only noticed the cheekily added GST cost when receiving the bill!! Found it quite sneaky considering. Smallish portions but traditional and delicious food all the same.
Jk
TERRIBLE! Had breakfast here today. Food was bland and totally flavour less. My latte was the worst coffee I have ever tasted and I drink instant!! Couldn't even drink it!!! Will not be back!!
Food 4 Thought
Very nice dining experience. Food is fresh and is served promptly. The location is great especially when you sit outside and the sun hits you on
summer's day. Waiters are always polite and make my friends and I feel
welcome. An important factor why I also like the restaurant is the cleanliness. Keep up the good work. Definitely will
come back as I'm a local.
Stinga24
Good food but overpriced. Weiner schnitzel was large, the problem I find whenever I eat is that there is too much breadcrumb in proportion to meat. it was well drained though and not overly oily. my partner had beed schnitzel which was slightly weird. nice food buy overpriced for what you get. will return to enjoy german beers in the sun and sausages. service was great.
Jack Fitzgerald
Amazing service, consistently friendly when quiet and then run off their feet. Great sausages.
Toyah.hoetzel
Pretty awesome!. Had the half metre sausage and my partner had a schnitzel. Pretty decent grub! Not overly traditional, definitely a Melbourne version of German food but very very tasty.
Lady In Bread
Bierkeller? More like Daykiller. I'm not sure what or how this place is operating during the light hours, as I've such good things about dinner, but wow. That was thee most ordinary, tasteless, display of nothing I've dined out on a lovely day for, in years. $15 for a black rice salad, which was a generous plonked heaping of dressed rocket, boring green beans, a pinch of bland crumbled feta, perhaps two large table spoons of black rice and what appeared to be thick canned beetroot. Terrible. Absolutely terrible. What's more is, close to after trying to eat around a third of this, feeling like a meadow cow grazing a blend of spicy weeds, I insisted on savouring hurried excitement towards their big fat lovely chips. To save me. For $8.50. Fair enough price. As a singular. And they are perfectly rectangle and huge and delicious with a tonne of salt and deep dippings of that nice bland aioli served alongside. But really? Chips and Rocket for $24 for lunch? On a beautiful day? Either that or $30 for something else that quite possibly was just written deliciously. Like the Leek Tart...bland.

And where are all the staff? This was on a Friday. And there was one staff member on to which was flustered, dying a slow embarrassing death, messing up orders, apologies flying around like the poor sweaty hair laid unpeacefully across her raised brows. It was uncomfortable. She was running. And panting. I'm surprised not swearing.

As a whole perhaps this rusty banged up nature compliments the wooden, busily beer furnitured sausage and ale house nicely. Or potentially it was just a bad day for business. Either way. Next time I win the lotto and have disposable cash to flash, I'll going to put it down on one of their Kranskys and turn a blind eye.

Weekend lunch. Actually the BEST steak sandwich I have ever had.
Kell_l_daniels
Yumalicious. Welcoming service, best pretzels! Great varity of beers! Just overall awesome food, atmosphere and experience. 10 out of 10.
DG
Visited a few months ago and had an amazing steak sandwich been looking forward to coming back ever since. Visited again today and had the worst steak sandwich I've ever had. $20 for a flimsy piece of steak with no flavour, not even enough steak to cover the two large thickly cut pieces of bread. Very disappointed. Would not return again.
J
The wait staff were extremely accomodating and made us up a table even though there was not one for our party size available. The beef goulash was tender but could have used teeny more bit of salt. The beer pretzel was a little hard for my liking but the chips were yumtastic. The apple strudel was also yummy. It was cosy inside with no weird decorations typical of a restaurant with a German specialty.
Therese Detje
Lovely staff and quick and attentive service. Yummy flavoursome food cooked in an excitingly authentic foreign way. Good bier selection, comfortable and enjoyable atmosphere and trendy fit out. Prost!

Great new German/Austrian make-over. OST has now become an Austrian/German based restaurant!
Amazing food and real nice people.

Loved the spatzle and roast I had there on a saturday night. For the food alone, OST is definitely worth visiting again and again, a new favourite of mine!

Have been for breakfast twice now and enjoyable both times. The staff are friendly and unobtrusive, the restaurant comfortable and relaxed which lends itself nicely to a leisurely breakfast with newspapers (of which there is plenty). The coffee is good but on the cooler side of warm so ask for extra hot. The smashed avocado is excellent, perhaps one of the best I've had (and there has been many). Deliciously seasoned and I recommend. The breakfasts are reasonably priced and I will be going back for a Saturday night drink also. Only downside is communal toilets. I understand there is often limitations of space, however, it often creates an unnecessary awkwardness which nobody enjoys. Overall, I recommend for a nice breakfast.
Mq87
I've been a regular at OST for a while now. They have just introduced a brand new breakfast menu which is amazing! We had the salmon which was really nice and fresh and on a potato rosti and the mountain fritters which were crispy and on a great smoky chilli sauce. Yum! We will definitely keep coming back to try the other new menu items. Keep up the great work!
Jaoume
Food is nice but the service is so slow! My partner and I ordered a cocktail each to have while waiting for our dinner and we would have had a glass of wine with dinner but the cocktais arrived after our dinner! Ordered cheese platter for desert, took ages and it wasent even busy. Disappointing service, a shame because the food is lovely.
AJ
Great service and nice atmosphere. Great brunch spot, yum coffee and killer smashed avocado!
Ruth
Love the breakfasts and the beer selections for hair of the dog. Sometimes my eggs are a bit cold but they are very tasty so I go there about once a month
Nomad.piggy
Loved it. Delicious food, attentive service, good coffee, great ambience. Will definitely be going back!
Kristen
We waited I've a hour with a toddler and the food was over cooked an terrible. Portions were very small and prices were too high!!! Staff are useless.
Matthew Bell
Waited out the front for a table. No one came. Told a staff member that we were there, still no one came. Too cold to wait for slow service even on a Friday night.
Krista Scott
First time. I had my first experience here on saturday with friends for brunch - i cannot wait to go back - not only that thinking of having a b'day here as they have a fabulous semi private dining area up the back that looked so inviting! see you again soon ost!!
Business Cat
Comfy and Friendly. Although I have not had a meal here, if the quick coffee stops I have had are anything to go by, I am sure that it would be a fabulous dinner. The chai latte is sweet and tasty and the service is always super friendly. Cute outdoor seating that is heated and sheltered from the elements makes this place our regular coffee shop when we are on Bridge Road.
Walter Collins
Really enjoyed our dinner here. Service was flawless. I do think however it has what we call white plate syndrome. Huge white plates with tiny portions. For the price I would have expected more in my meal than the small portion served in both mains.
Desert was incredible. A chocolate laava cake. It's a great place, great environment and lovely staff. Well done.
Harold
Went with my wife, I had the spatchcock chicken...Waited ages for the food (over 1 hour) the owner was extremely rude when we asked if it was going to be much longer, the food was average & seems a little over priced for what you get... The staff seemed under a lot of stress...Won't be going back, not a pleasant experience
Dean
Exceptional. We really enjoyed our dinner. Service was friendly efficient and knowledgeable. The menu was interesting and enticing supported by great wine list. Food was very tasty and well presented. We will absolutely be back and highly recommend Ost for a fantastic dinning experience.
Katherine Strain
Absolutely stunning, I had the duck entree then spatchcock for main, both were delicious. The service was impeccable and the decor beautiful, could not recommend it further!
Sauce
Good. Good food, quirky interior, attractive wait staff.
Susan
Great food definite improvement had the duck ragu which was very tasty, great service and this place is a real gem with loads of potential keep it up!
Drlill
Had a nice lunch here with 6 others , seated quickly as it wasn't packed yet . Wait staff plesant ordered drinks straight away and came out pretty quicky. Ordered the smached avacado, feta and mushroom sourdough was good size so happy to pay $15.
Tried the quoana (spelling ) salad whch was nice and good size . Pancakes looked nice and were homemade , needled more sauce on them though.
Eggs in purgatory looked nice and wasn't too spicy apparently. Gnochie with gorgonzola cheese looked nice , cheese was perhaps slightly overpowering but if you liked that type of cheese would be pretty spot on .

Over all a nice lunch .
Unfortunatly they alow smokers on the undercover balcony which they shouldn't as it's undercover and all other diners get smoke blown into there faces while eating . I was going to say something but was beaten to it by another table inside so the waitresses closed the windows behind that particular table .

Beautiful ambiance inside really nice furniture , flowers , ambiance .

Overall I WOULD return .

Went here last night again! Still so good!
Dgarvi
Went for dinner last night , food was fantastic ! My partner had the steak and I the fish , both equally delicious . Cooked to perfection ! service very efficient ! Will be back for sure . Well done Ost
Emma
Absolutely underwhelmed and appalled at the managers attitude and lack of customer service! Waited over an hour for mains which were bland at most and when asking to speak with the manager were told 'that he was too busy with larger tables'. Once we foved him to come over was disgusted by his attitude towards us and used every excuse inder the sun. Will NEVER come back. Overpriced and cocky owner! Disappointing to say the least
L.eve
Owner extremely cocky. Waited over an hour for a pasta dish. Pork was dry. Never coming back. Fancy names average dish. So disappointed. Over priced an unapologetic.
Tiffany Chin
Food OK, Service Great. I made a booking over the phone for my birthday and asked the staff if it was BYO and was told it was. Arrived on the night to find that it wasn't. Was a little annoyed but the manger, Gen, tried to rectify the situation and gave us great service throughout the night. My friends' meals were great but I found my prawn fettuccine too creamy (and a little bland) for the hot weather and my partner's risotto way too salty. Cocktails were excellent. Might try go back for brunch one day but will not do dinner there again.
Fcdes1
Good food but took ages to come out
Claire
Went there for dinner & the food was great! Pork belly & barramundi were both beautifully cooked. Waitress was great as well. Would definitely go there again!
Jane
The owner should feel proud. This place is a winner - great food and great coffee.
Bridget Bell
Sensational flavour. I have returned to Ost for breakfast & lunch on several occasions. The breakie in a pan was just brilliant! It kept warm to the end as there was a decent meal to get through.
Share plates for lunch were perfect, a great variety of finger foods & a salad on the side if desired. Some of the best wines to accompany the sensational flavours also. The outdoor area at the front is where I can quite happily wine & dine with friends all afternoon along with the delightful staff & owners. The decor inside is beautifully done, I sometimes forget there is a world outside!
David Bear
Pleasantly Suprised. I'm a local but haven't eaten here for a couple of years as the previous few times was rubbish. Has gone through some changes since my last visit.
Service - pleasant and efficient.
Wine - good selection and reasonably priced.
Food - nothing WOW on the menu but all in all better than expected, well presented & delicious.
I had the steak done medium and it was spot on. Partner had the chicken breast which he said was delicious and it certainly looked it.
Would recommend a visit - I will definitely go back.
Benno
Returned after bad service about 5 months ago. Waited a long time for croquettes which were cold when they arrived, the pork ribs were only slightly warmer, quite dry and a very scarce amount of meat for the price. With drinks a couple of dollars more expensive than neighbouring eateries & bars I now see no point returning.
Convivialsins
Was here last night. Was impressed with the the quality of the steak!!! n for the price point it wins hands down compared to other supposed steak specialisation venues. venue was great for a summer night drink n the ambience was perfect for either a romantic dinner out or for a good catchup w/ friends. best still it's away from the city on a busy weekend.
Bla5555
Did they change owners or..?. I remember coming here a while ago when i think it was called Grace cafe. Wasn't sure if it was owned by the current owners but the food was not too good and staff was not attentive.

Major turnaround with OST. Staff here are so attentive and friendly. Decor is very clean with a bit of quirk to it. Menu is straight forward and food has improved greatly. Their bread and butter with the pink salt to tide us over until our entrees arrived was a bit heavy but haha i couldn't stop...so good yet so simple. no messing about. just good bread, good butter and bloody good salt.
Yainus
Only been for brunch & love it. Everything is perfect!

Slow Sunday Brunch Service. Came here for a Sunday brunch - the service was very slow. It took over 30 mins for a coffee to arrive. This is obviously a popular spot, so they could surely add a few more staff?

Food was nice, had what could be described as a German style antipasto with bread. It was a welcome feed on a Sunday morning, the bread fresh and the meat quite tasty. Finished off with some fruit on the side of the plate, and I was content.

Would return, however would hope that the service is speedier next time.
Pannas
Great Food!. Had dinner here a couple months back (late review) without checking any of the previously posted reviews (completely blind) with my partner. First impressions were that this was a cocktail bar with a small restaurant towards the rear - decor is nice, emphasis is definately on the bar. Not expecting too much i was completely blown away by the steak i ordered - cooked perfectly (i like medium rare), i was considering sending the knife back because the fork was almost sufficient to cut! As oppossed to a previous review - at $32 this was extremely cheap especially when you take into account the quality of the meat. My partner ordered something with a beans and possibly a targine, there may have been a waiter - i actually can't remember as my thoughts just drift back to the steak everyone time i remember this place.... mmmmm
Spikey
Great food and service! Excellent choice of beers and options on the menu. Pork cutlet was a stand out and the staff were all friendly and attentive.
Ren
How does one try to explain in words! Brilliant food, tasty drinks, hot staff, toilets smell amazing. Do yourself a favour. Breakfast, lunch or dinner, relaxing tasty experience
Maraguru
O.S.T.. Very obliging service, they made my fave cocktail even when they had not have it on the menu. Nice fitout, bright and lively place, good food, what else you want? Oh, yeah, more dessert would have me move in with you guys, but you're still great nontheless.
DaGalWhoLovesFood
YUM!!. Nice coffee and hot chocolate! Awesome service and Tasty ONE PAN BREAKFAST!!!
I will definitely come back again!!
Jasmin
Breakfast Heaven. I absolutely love OST's breakfast. My friend recommended we went there & vouched for it being worth paying the extra than the standard $15 breakfasts that seem to be all over Bridge Road. The bread was fresh & tasted perfectly, hollandaise tasted amazing & not a bit was left. I will happily go back there for breakfast anyday!
Erin May
Grate night. Went to OST on Saturday night Staff where pleasant, food completely satisfies, fabulous stake try the chocolate cake AMAZING !!! Thanks guys.
Mia K
Awful. Food is average. Service so
Slow. Don't bother.
Kit Brown
Great breakfast. Service very helpful. Outside tables have superb heating
Leah Souza
Good. Food is great, service is great, atmosphere seems a bit confused but overall a good experience

Thumbs Up OST. Went to OST for Breakfast this morning after walking past many times.
Partner ordered Eggs Benedict - Beautiful eggs, amazing light Holl sauce, crusty sour dough.
I ordered the Smashed Avo with Roasted Mushrooms & Feta - amazing!!
Steak knives were a great addition to cut through the crusty sour dough also...other cafes should be doing the same.
Will be back!

10/10. Really love this place. Have had breakfast, lunch and dinner here and it has never disappointed. Staff are highly engaged and attentive and the food is excellent, with a great choice of dishes that would excite anyones palate.

Will keep returning for as long as their keep up the good work!
Blu
I only stopped in for a coffee but really enjoyed it. It had a good vibe & good service. It's nice to see an increase in style on bridge rd. Long overdue.

Amazing, beyond titular description. The first time I visited OST was about a year ago now, and I have been back probably 10 times since.
The service is the best I've received at any restaurant in Melbourne, with staff serving a personal experience every time.
The atmosphere is at once friendly and inviting, and sophisticated and edgy. The decor is something like a 60s swinger bachelor pad (perfect for a dram of scotch!), yet steers clear of kitsch. Even if you don't need to, check out the bathrooms - I've never, before or since, seen a restaurant bathroom so well designed, scented or kept.
But what is a restaurant without amazing food? And this place has it in spades. Everything on their menu has perfect balance of flavours, textures and influences. My only trifling complaint would be that the mains are either too large or too delicious to be able to save room for their incredible desserts.
There is no way I could recommend this establishment more highly - it is amazing.
Jason Gordon
Friendly service and tasty food. Would definitely go back for a a few drinks or a meal
Le Petite Gateaux
Cute Bar. This is such a cute place to come to meet up with your mates afterwork for drinks, however it ends there

The service is great, and the wine list delightful, but the food falls short of fabulous.

They have the cutest most modern decor and Im always impressed everytime I come and see something different.

Yes the bathrooms are divine, but who cares.

The food is good, but extremely small portions. Recommend ordering more if you plan on filling up.
TasteBuds
Can never fault this place and am impressed every time I come. Great good, great service!
Lovebug
2 thumbs up!!. I've been here a few times & every time the food has been delicious, service outstanding and overall a great dining experience. It's so nice to sit out the front on a nice night. The wine list is great and I had the best long island ice tea! I know this is a weird thing to say about a restaurant, but the attention to detail in the bathroom is amazing
Traveller
Nice surprise. Great food - the chicken with risotto and beetroot is a standout.
Bob
Bob. What a wonderful experience. Booked for 13 people for breakfast. last week Tables were set out as requested and the layout added to our family intimacy enabling a very enjoyable experience.
The staff were bright, eager, smiling and very helpful.
The food was excellent with the added bonus that you could mix and match the menu to your taste - and the staff made it seem as if this was the norm rather than the exception.

Thank you
(not our first time and it will not be our last)
Fat_kid
What a fantastic surprise this place was!. Have been past this place a few times and have always been curious to try it out after seeing the delicious breakfast/brunch dishes on weekends. Finally went for a weeknight dinner session with some mates and WOW! Loved the service, food was greatttt- definitely try out the entree selections...aswell as the mains...eat the bread...just eat everything! Prices were a little high for what i would usually like to pay at a casual cafe/restaurant but the quality and taste of everything will definitely have me coming back. Aesop hand wash....flowers everywhere...BIG TICK!
Todd
I had the special which was a crumbed Barramundi. The middle of the fish was uncooked. My GF had the pork belly which was overcooked and served with dry, tasteless crackling.
Ange
Nice find. Stumbled upon OST last week and had dinner. A stylish dining space and good service. Our first bottle of wine was corked and they handled it with professionalism. The menu is varied and appealing. I tried the duck spring rolls and the fish cakes which were ok. For main I had the Sri Lankan white vege curry which was tasty and came with the appropriate condiments. I also got to try the pork belly which was ok. Would I eat here again? If I was in the area - possibly.

Average- but great toilets. Average food
average service

great toilets though...

Original, Saxy & Tatsy to boot!. On a street that has such a diverse variety of eating styles, menus and decors this is a real find. Layout is swish for a Sunday long lunch with plenty of space between diners allowing conversation to take palce at a level a good many decibels lower that neighbouring establishments.

Flowers are everywhere - including in the cleanist rest rooms on the strip. There has been some good planning behind the decor which really works well.

Staff are very welcoming and the menu, although on the small side (breakfast was still being offered at 3.00pm which says something about Sundays rather than the clientele) but the variety of fare is appealling. The wine list is also small but surprisingly includes a high percentage of european wines (not sure why when Australian & NZ wines are de rigeur for a reason).

Highlights included the duck spring rolls, gin cured ocean trout and the shredded cheek!

Gee, wouldn't it be great if this restaurant sent its local competitors on a spree to raise their standards! Melbourne is a winner all the same thanks to OST.

Well done guys!
The Hungry Badger
Great Ribs!. Great space, friendly staff and a good selection of food and wine. The eggplant and lamb starters were great but the real surprise was the pork belly and the beef short ribs braised in dark beer & chipotle chillies....mmmmm....ribs.

My only negative would be having a direct view from our table to the kitchen doors and being able to see the staff scrape the plates clean into the bin; I know it's a space and layout constraint but it just breaks the moment and the cosy vibe.
Mild Mild Westie
Great addition to Bridge Rd, friendly staff, good varied menu and love the wine list ... All at really reasonable price. Plus, the digs are pretty stylish!
Tee
Highly recommend fritters with aioli and the shitake and duck spring rolls were great! Chicken main good. Pasta meals ok. Service? Hard to tell. We had a newbie and he was very green. Brownie was DIVINE. Worth a visit.
Babushka007
Beautiful Venue an Lovey Staff. We popped into Ost for a random coffee stop on the way to Vic Gardens for a movie. It appeared to be nicest out of the surrounding venues from the outside. Coffee was nice but it was the lovely waiters and delicious looking food coming out of the kitchen that got us excited. Pity we had already had dinner, so we had a peruzal of the menu and it looked very impressive as did the overall design of the venue. Looking forward to having dinner sometime or brunch!
Ian
OST is BEST. We had a great Mother's Day brunch at OST. They put our extended family in an area of our own and kept the champagne flowing and the food was fantastic (highly reccommend the Eggs Benedict). Service impeccable, very well priced and great setting. Loved it!
Thanks for the personal service from Rob and Fiona - we will certainly be back.
Keith_
So, so good. Great food, great service! The timing between courses was perfect with super friendly service. Great atmosphere too!
Phil Walkom
Wonderful breakfast and very friendly staff, especially the lovely and talented Fiona. Everyone HAS to taste her cupcakes and brownies!! Good luck to Rob with the venture, it's off to a great start.

YUMMM. A brilliant, and much needed, addition to the Richmond dining scene. Have been for breakfast and dinner now and I enjoyed Ost so much it's prompted me to write my first review. Our mains at dinner were all sensational (duck ragout, swordfish & pork belly) and at a very good price. A great atmosphere and friendly, helpful staff. Definitely check it out.
Katie
Disappointed with new lunch arrangement. I had been here for lunch a while back and it was absolutely fantastic. The meals were delicious, worth the money. So I was desperate to get back there and imagine my disappointment when I was offered either breakfast or share plates (entrees). As breakfast looked like what you could get anywhere (and I wasn't in the mood anyway), we shared 5 plates between 2 people.

While they were tasty, they were typical entrees in that they were not really the substantial meal we were looking for. Also, we've now tried everything we were interested in on the share plate menu so there is not really much incentive to go back (being new parents going out to dinner is more difficult).

I assume OST have done this to reduce the costs associated with preparing what are expensive meals for a lunch crowd, and this might be the right thing for them to do. But I would have enjoyed a more substantial lunch menu, even if it was not the totally amazing fare we had last time.
Daisy
You HAVE to go ...... I can't remember having such a great breakfast. The eggs benedict must be the best I have ever had, and the blueberry pancakes - yum! We will be back for lunch and dinner - can't wait!! The brownies and cupcakes were soooo delicious - be quick, I hear they run out the door!! Service faultless!
Kirra
Vegetarian friendly!. Fantastic food and atmosphere. Lots of vegetarian options - delicious!
Scott Sandars
Great Dinner and Awesome breakfast, have been here many times and have yet to find a menu item that wasn't great.
Lee-roy
It's about time Bridge Rd had a decent breakfast destination! The food was incredible and I love the outdoor benches. Their famous cupcakes are Melbournes best. Very enjoyable experience.
Beth
Amazing atmosphere.... Breakfast menu has a good selection, and the cupcakes were to die for!!

UUMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM. Went there for breakfast. OMG great place, great service.
The highlight, the BROWNIES. OMG have found heaven in Brigde Rd. UMMMMMMMMMMMMMM

Mr sunny. Thank god finally there is one gud restaurant on bridge rd richmond (sick of too many cafes on bridge rd) nice food, cool ambiance, lovely staff, little bit expensive but i am definitely goin back.

OST Restaurant. Great new addition to Bridge Road. Very friendly staff. We have been here for dinner and drinks a few times and loved it but this morning also had breakfast. Fantastic menu selection but the takeaway cupcake was the highlight.
Isabel Muller
Wunderbar!. Wow, this is a place for all occasions; quiet and romantic or bring a party of friends and sit at the function table at the back. Outdoor dining as well as seating at the bar. The decor is funky yet stylish and sophisticated at the same time.

The Soft Shell Crab is to die for and the Duck and Shitake Mushroom Spring Rolls are divine. The Swordfish was served perfectly; pink and moist accompanied with a fragrant fennel and cucumber salad-a match made in heaven. The Parpadelle Duck Ragout was perfectly seasoned with generous morsels of tender duck. I'm definitely coming back!

This place is a standout for a newcomer ! The service was brilliant- happy smiling staff and eager to please. A great selection of unique and varied wines and beers from around the world. You won't be disappointed!!
Juan Rodriguez
Outstanding. The food here was brilliant. Beef ribs braised for hours in chilli and dark beer were spectacular, the Moroccan chicken was sublime. Service was attentive. Great wine list. Gonna come back here again, a standout on Bridge Road.
Blonde
Brilliant!!!. We have been three times in 10 days on our visit from Perth. The tapas are excellent ... Highly recommend the lamb mince ...totally delicious as is the eggplant and the duck spring rolls... Also recommend the rocket, goats curd and hazelnut salad. Friendly great bathrooms and service... Will recommend to all our friends ... Try it you won't be disappointed!

OST. I love this place. Such a great addition to the Bridge Road precinct. Great place for a quick drink or a more prolonged sophisticated eating experience.

The duck and shitake mushroom spring rolls are off the hook and the pork belly is to die for.

I'll be back for sure.

Like the nod to the owners Germanic heritage also. Great vino selection too.
Susie Cartledge
A relaxed & stylish space to meet up with friends & enjoy a wine. The wine list is great & features an interesting & well priced selection. But the best thing is the food- yum! Especially the duck spring rolls! We'll be back for more!
