Review Rowena Corner Store - Richmond

Toby Halligan
This is my local cafe and it’s a lovely one - beautiful decor and charming exterior. Solid menu with a range of sandwiches, excellent coffee and very quick service. There’s a little deli as well so you can grab stuff to take home.

An all-time Melbourne favourite, great to drop back in for the good coffee, cosy corner store vibe, and scrumptious sandwiches (toasties) - easy👌

Had some delicious cold brews and a soy chai at Rowena Corner Store (yes I did have two cold brews to myself). The entire menu looked so good so we will definitely be back to try some food next time we’re in Sydney. ☕️🤷🏼‍♂️☕️

It's been a while since I had Greek breakfast, and after finding this hidden gem in the middle of Richmond, I was glad to find authentic options here. We were greeted by a friendly staff. We ordered Kaski - Northern Greek dish of roast capsicum, feta, ricotta, chilli & tomato, served with a poached egg & warm pita bread. It didn't take long to get the food, and it was served very hot, on an iron pan. It was so good! Just wished there were less capsicums with possibly more pita breads, as I couldn't finish the dish. Coffee was good too, that my partner had a second serving. The place is slightly packed, so it does help to book in advance, specially on weekends. They have a cute grocery corner as well.

I would absolutely recommend this cafe. Jack Jin there were dogs happy as anything outside - not sure why you had to bring yours in? Staff were friendly, service prompt and food - breakfasts - really good.

Was cycling and came across this gem. Had latte, bacon and egg focaccia. One of the best I had. Great service too. Will definitely be back.

I received the menu and after 15 min they tell me that there is no food service
Quincy Malesovas
Such a sweet little spot. I love the old school aesthetic that actually feels pretty authentic and not contrived by hipsters. The fact that the space is in an old milk bar helps create that feel, as does the fact that the stock a lot of products you would find in one. I haven't tried any of the food, but the coffee and service are great.

Brilliant hidden gem In Richmond. Milkshakes and muffins are amazing and the staff are lovely.
Sue-Ellen Jackson
Lovely place for a bite to eat platter of dip etc delicious, coffee great.
Sean Simpson
I had high expectations but was bitterly disappointed.. Service is slow, they forgot the bacon and the entire meal was over cooked, dry and hard.. I ate it because I was about to pass out from hunger but will never return again.. $15 for their 7 deadly sins thickshakes is a bit steep too..

It was exactly what we were expecting. A casual relaxed atmosphere for a family lunch which included a child and a baby with capsule and pram. We had notified them of the pram when booking and wasn't an issue. Staff friendly and accommodating. Dietary requirements were not an issue.
Clare Johnston
Always great food and drink available here. The decor is beautiful, I love the big Greek wall. Nice outdoor garden and european sweets to buy from the front of shop. The staff are always the loveliest of people and will go out of their way for customers.
Vicki Millis
Great little cafe coffee and breakfast Service was excellent and staff were friendly

As a local, this is by and large my favourite cafe in Richmond. The service is great, the menu is great and the tea is always a winner. Always come back here. Keep up the great work guys.

This is a delightful little cafe. I loved the Israeli Eggs.
Beth Wilson
Loved the atmosphere, the decor and the atmosphere. I had the vegan BLT which was scrumptious!

Left this cafe feeling very unhappy and wishing I could go back and pick somewhere else to have brunch. It's a cute cafe that I'm sure will attract locals who don't have other options around. But very limited options for food, which is fine we found something to order. We make our order for food and coffee. One item comes out and at least 5 minutes later the other items come out. One was a baked dish so as soon as it came out I asked for an extra side of toast. At this point no sign of our coffee nor our table water. We ask for it for the second time. My almond milk with honey comes out as a normal coffee and they just give me the bottle of honey to add it in myself which of course doesn't work cause the honey just sits on top. But still fine. This is at least 10 mins now since I requested my extra side of toast (which all it requires to be done is literraly toasted). I ask for it once more. And it doesn't come out until another 10 mins pass and I ask for it for the third time. By that time the rest of the food I wanted to eat the toast with has gone very cold. The staff kept saying a staff member had to go home sick so they've been swamped yet the cafe was half empty and the waitresses were just wiping tables in the 20 minutes I was waiting for two pieces of TOAST ! Then they say they'll make sure the bread isn't on the bill which they did end up charging us for. We walk out paying $66 for two people for a VERY substandard, cold, unenjoyable meal. I was flabbergasted to say the least. Never returning here nor ever recommending to anyone I know. In fact I will make sure I share my experience as that is ridiculous.

Such a funky place to hang out. We had brunch here and loved it

Cute little community store with great food and a friendly atmosphere. Find a friend and treat yourselves.

Beautiful old style cafe. Best milkshake I have ever had!

Great hidden gem opposite the MCG, shakes are yum

Milkshakes are absolutely worth it!! Worth a visit.

Super tasty eggs benny with great flavors. Salsa verde and relish a great addition! Will be back for sure.

This adorable cafe had been on my radar for a while, and I'm pleased to say it was every bit as sweet as hoped.

Food was great, delivered in quick time by the lovely staff. There are plenty of goodies to take away, like pastries and homemade spreads. Be sure to check out the courtyard.

Cute cafe with old fashioned milk bar design. Service was a bit slow but the food was tasty. I went for the bacon Benedict which was delicious. Very generous with the bacon and the toast was really fresh and soft. The avocado on toast also looked tasty as did the smoked trout scrambled eggs.
The Wandering Reviewer
csme here for brunch had delicious light and Duffy scrambled eggs. Coffee good. It’s a quaint place that brings back memories of my childhood crossed with hipsters. Fun and funky at the same time. Prices are reasonable and portion sizes good. Dietaries catered for. Service was pretty good with lovely staff. Wheelchair friendly. Kid friendly. Prams and stroller accessible. Good parking.
Julia Sansone
Such a lovely venue, I loved the coffee and the candy store, retro feel mixed with Greek heritage. I found the mushroom special a little dry but I loved the variety of mushrooms included. A little overpriced but overall a fun experience.

Just started working in the area and decided to go for a wander with a colleague where we stumbled upon this cute cafe. Have to say the sandwich was the best I’ve ever had and I’m glad there were no chips. Coffee was good, and corn fritters are a true test to prove their chef is on point. Keep it up team, I’ll be bringing other guests to ‘enlighten’ them.

I came here recently for the first time and got the heirloom tomatoes which were amazing! Generous amount of tomato, avocado and goats cheese on a delicious piece of bread. I was so impressed I have it 4 stars and had to come back two weeks later! I excitedly ordered the same thing but was very disappointed. Firstly the bread was so hard, there was barely any avocado at all literally just a thin spread I couldn’t taste it and on top of that not one heirloom tomato on the plate just a normal tomato diced up. If you don’t have the ingredients in stock then just be upfront with your customer don’t charge me $20 for a meal that doesn’t even have the main ingredient. I was extremely disappointed and have changed my review to 1 star and will not return.

Kicking myself that it took me so long to visit the guys down at Rowena Corner Store, especially since I live in the area, however, I got there in the end, and was presently surprised. The only thing that got me a bit, is the 30-minute wait for food, wasn’t that busy, but still I get it, its Sunday and every man and their dog is out for brunch.

ok, now for the COFFEE & FOOD

The item that stood out the most was the coffee..omg.. SO GOOD! Happy to be challenged on this, but I can’t remember the last time I felt that way. 10/10 guys.

The food - I ordered the middle eastern eggs which were very yummy – these included - Poached Eggs with Grilled Haloumi, Roast Tomatoes, Tabouli, Tzatziki, Olives & Warm Pita Bread. Everything you could want on Sunday morning really.

They have an arrange of sweets and other goodies at the front of the shop which I took advantage of, as i live for sugar and chocolate.

I would recommend – cute, tucked away café!
Andy
I love this place. I'm lucky enough to live close by and the service is always great. The people are absolutely lovely and welcoming every time. The quality of the coffee is excellent, along with their food selection - which, considering the quality of the meals, is very reasonably priced. It's just a gorgeous place, it feels homely and quaint.

Food and coffee always tasty. Staff are friendly and helpful. A great place to dine at or to grab a quick coffee or delicious milkshake from.
A hidden gem of Richmond for not much longer
Greenbean
Terrible!! Not sure why there are so many positive reviews!
We waited 15 mins to order, then 45 mins for food and they didn’t even get the order right!
Also, The majority of the steak sandwich was rocket.
We will definitely not be going back or recommending this place to anyone.
Mrs Mark
Great milkshake and smoothie list as well as a dedicated BLT menu if you like that sort of thing. We had the Mediterranean pizza and Greek platter with poached eggs. The lamb koftas were particularly good
Sarah
Charming cafe with an old corner store milk bar feel and a friendly neighbourhood vibe. The food menu isn’t massive but they do basics well and there’s always some great specials. Can’t wait to try the milkshakes!
Places To Lunch
A few months ago, I had the absolute pleasure of visiting Rowena Corner Store in Rowena Parade, Richmond. I spent the morning devouring their amazing Mediterranean Brunch Board and a classic chocolate smoothie. The atmosphere is great and the location is even better, just a short walk from Bridge road, Swan street and the MCG! Did I mention the staff are great too?! They're so accomodating and they make sure you feel right at home, without having to lift a finger. I can't wait to go back and try everything else on the menu, hopefully I'll see you there too!

More about Rowena Corner Store on placestolunch.com

The Rowena Corner Store has been on my to-do list for months and today I finally got to get there! Wow, was I impressed. The cafe has a cute vintage style, and feels like a step back in time when you're there. They have kept the original signage and style of the cafe and I loved that!
The staff are all wonderful and friendly and service was very efficient.
The food was great! I got a "Morning Alfred" Milkshake, which is a coffee milkshake and it was incredible! Anyone who has read my reviews knows I am no stranger to a coffee Milkshake and I'm going to come right out and say this was the best coffee Milkshake I've ever had! Absolutely delicious and rich in flavour and thick! It was made with really good quality artisan ice cream and the coffee flavour was perfect!
For food I got a B.E.L.T.A (Bacon, Egg, Lettuce, Tomato and Avocado) with chips. Yum yum yum! The sandwich was faultless and the chips were crispy and delicious!
I thoroughly enjoyed my meal at Rowena today and will 100% be back! The guy at the table next to me got the Kaski and I need to come back to try that next!

This place used to be a favourite, and I would frequently eat here with my partner, but I am disappointed to say that after how I was treated by the staff I would never go back.

Cool, old school type cafe tucked away in the back streets of Richmond. Being close to the MCG on game day, there were a few supporters around for a bite, so take that into consideration if you're thinking of visiting as it can get busy. On to the food. The burger was enormous but a bit underwhelming, nicely cooked but very dense patty and a massive bun which made it quite bready to eat. The Mediterranean eggs however were fantastic. A different dish than what most places serve up, I loved everything on the plate which included 2 poached eggs, tabouleh, olives, fried tomatoes, tzatziki, pita and lots of fried haloumi. They also do freak shakes which a not only very impressive but pretty tasty.

Sweet little cafe and seems popular with the locals. Food was nothing special, a little bland. My friend and I had the Tim Tam and Salted Caramel freak shakes and if you try these I recommend doing just these without food because they are ridiculously sickly sweet and filling. Worth a try and good for photos but probably won't rush back!

Very disappointed... arrived at 3pm to find inside was fully packed up, no issue really was a lovely day so we sat outside. We were told the kitchen was closed but that too was okay. Ordered a milkshake each and a muffin and monte carlo biscuit. The milkshakes were bought out ... we are told they are out of straws ... our sweets do not arrive... I went in and asked ... eventually bought out. Milkshakes too hard to gulp out of a metal cup.. really sickly sweet ... biscuit was delicious but again super sweet... muffin was not as fresh as if it was baked today. Had high expectations based on reviews sorry won't be back. I would not recommend to others.

I wanted to visit this fun retro cafe. And I'm soooo glad I did! I asked for crispy bacon w scrambled eggs and sourdough toast.

Omgosh this food was amazing. The bacon was perfect, the scrambled yummmyyy hahaha

I had a really good strong latte. I wanted a milkshake but I was too full. Definitely next time!

Whilst this place is not on the main, it's worth the effort to go for a walk, explore Richmond n experience an old corner store haha

Rowena nestled on the corner, looks to be this tiny little store with its vintage styled interior of produce shelving. Behind the service benches is a hidden extension for more seating and a quiet little courtyard for you to enjoy.

Meals are full flavoured and large, leaving you rolling out the door.

Have courage and take on the towering shakes, or just enjoy the fresh juices or coffee.

The atmosphere is welcoming and great for the locals to stop by.

Came here on one of the busiest Sundays I'm Melbourne's brunching history - Melbourne Marathon day.

A wait was inevitable but the lady we spoke to at Rowena parade seemed to be managing the high influx very well! A fifteen minute wait and we were in!

I ordered one of the BLT's with chips, both were great, nothing special just a solid meal. The coffee was also lovely.

I was eying of the milkshake list which looked amazing and definitely something I will be hitting up on my next visit!

Some of my friend's friends took me there to have milkshakes. Though i couldnt have those because of flu, i chose to try out coffee, and as it turned out thry have just amazing coffees and they have amazing milkshakes as well (assuming from the appearance) but worth going back. And Nice Ambiance.!

Good food and coffee. Nice place to sit and relax in back room

Terribly slow food service. 45 mins wait for breakfast which detracts from food and coffee. Made a few mistakes with service as well.

Really cute find in bustling Richmond! Staff were friendly however service was a tad slow, think it was a bit of a lazy Monday afternoon for some of them! We ordered two Instagram famous freak shakes. Both were delicious, full of flavour and an actually decent milkshake, something that has been lacking in other freak shakes I've bought! Price was the main downfall, $15 just seems a tad steep in my opinion, especially when compared to others I've got within a similar price range that had wayyyy more toppings. All in all though was a cute cafe, nice atmosphere and decent freak shakes! Well worth a try :)

Love this little gem for brunch/coffee/lunch after my stroll through the G. Stopped by here for a coffee and massive Monte Carlo cookie. Big open windows at the shop front allowed for the warm sunshine to burst into the shop. Good for grabbing a couple groceries too if needed. Peaceful courtyard area located at the back. Retro fit out, clean and good service.

Rowena Corner Store is a favourite nostalgic meeting spot for locals and visitors to the Richmond area. It offers all the things you would expect from a traditional corner store, plus café-quality breakfast and lunch favourites. The Richmond Hill store had always welcomed kids on their way to school, workers on their lunch break and footy crowds looking for half-time snacks and drinks.

We were the first through the door on a dark Melbourne weekday and the place was lit up and looked very inviting. I love a cafe that is 'stand alone' in a backstreet, it feel like a little haven.
Our group of 10 filled up a table out the back and we marvelled at the Milkshake Menu. While none of us ordered from it, we were all enthused by what it offered!!
Coffee was ordered as we perused the breaky menu. For me, smashed avo with 2 poached eggs. Served on 3 pieces of toast with an abundance of avocado, i was a happy customer. Bread was a little tough but overall a good dish.
The muesli w greek yoghurt and berries also looked pretty handy.
The cafe is just like your old school corner store, they sell all the old confectionary and the decor matches in perfectly. The little milkshake stand also adds to the 'lolly shop' type feel.
Overall, a quality cafe that i would venture back to!

A charming little place to eat! Tried the BLT (the beltac actually! The extra letters are egg, avocado and cheese). Mmmm loved it! Also the reason we came here was for the seven deadly sins thickshakes(i ordered the death by chocolate). It sure hit the spot and was a joy to eat! I loved scooping the chocolate off the edges of the cup and drinking the chocolate in ghe saucer too! :D
Also i love the artwork on the side of thw building! :)

Very slow service. 10 minutes to get served, another 20 for coffee and a full hour to get bacon and eggs on toast. Great milkshakes and juices, but be prepared to wait..
MSY123
A friend who use to work here, suggested this place and recommended me their speciality B.E.L.T.
I had it with added Avocado, which hit the spot.
It's a very cutesy store with interesting food products presented in a 1920's grocer aesthetic. Very friendly, cozy and contemporary brunch jaunt.
Best coffee in Melbourne. Great study spot out the back in the courtyard. Lovely service. My favourite item on the menu is the HELTA (halloumi egg lettuce tomato + avo)
Dmoney
Atmosphere is amazing. Love the outdoor area. Had avocado smash with smoked salmon for $15 - big meal, avocado perfect, salmon delicious.
Definitely come here.

Cool little locals place. Nice seating out the back through the kitchen. Only had poached eggs so hard to bigger that up but the juice was spot on. Will go back to try some more stuff
Just had the most decadent milk shake ever (I'll be eating salads for a week), made the mistake of ordering a burger with it. Bad move! Too much food! Go there if you feel like being a bit naughty. Cool little place too and the staff were lovely :)
Hello. Imnikki
Part deli, part milk bar, part cafe and part milkshake heaven. The extensive milkshake menu will take some time to be conquered. Tried the Red Devil thick shake and it was sinfully indulgent. Drizzled with raspberry coulis and chocolate sauce and filled with chocolate, gummies, biscuits crumbles and I think I even tasted a cherry ripe in it. Delicious! My tabbouleh eggs helped me tricked myself into thinking that I was clean eating. A good dish but poached eggs were not runny at all. My partner's salami sandwich was definitely better. Overall an enjoyable meal and will definitely be back.
Sap
A warm, relaxed atmosphere with beautifully charming courtyard and interior. Feels European. Really friendly staff. Tried the beetroot special for breakfast and it was massive, affordable and delicious! Would recommend for anyone
Hannah_stark
Great local cafe. A beautiful relaxed cafe. Best way to start a Sunday morning. Coffee and food is always consistent, staff are friendly, and the milkshakes can't be beaten. Nice to find a cafe in Richmond that isnt constantly trying to reinvent itself. Service is sometimes a little slow but an apology is always offered. Definitely recommend it!
Decisive Cravings
Rowena Parade Corner store is one of Richmond’s little gems. Part milk bar, part deli and cafe, Rowena is a cosy, convenient spot with loads of comfort food and classic treats too. Many of our friends and family come here for the famous BELTAC – their signature sanga filled with bacon, egg, lettuce, tomato, avocado and cheese, absolute genius! Most of all Rowena is a local favourite because of its atmosphere, friendly service and consistently tasty home style food. If you like Greek food then you’re in particular luck, their menu gives away the heritage of the owners with traditional dishes like Kaski and Plaki, as well as the Spanakopita. Whether your palate is traditional, mediterranean or contemporary Rowena provide breakfast and lunch dishes for all, not to mention sweets, snacks and a range of beverages, like their traditional milkshakes. Great for families, solo breakfasts, and more intimate catch ups. If you have a particularly large group there are banquet

...my large cup of hot chocolate arrived with a charred skewer of three half-melted marshmallows across the top. The melted goo blended sweetly with the particularly chocolaty froth on top. Someone had put in some extra effort for a lowly hot chocolate fan to flame them for me, and I certainly appreciated it.
The World Loves Melbourne
Rowena Parade Corner Store has that authentic feel of a "local" and is a part of the iconic history of Richmond. I love how the milk bars of yesteryear are enhanced to cater for modern needs. This Greek influenced cafe is another Richmond classic. You don't have to be Einstein to see that the early morning crowd is made up of regulars who just love this place.
Katherine Margaret Shoobridge
All time favourite. I love going to this place. The new tables and chairs out the front add a really great feel, and the food is always great. Good coffee, service with a smile and great vibe. The burger and seasonal specials are always my top choice.
Sarah
Why does it take so long to make coffee?
Ella Turner
Disappointment and a half.. Never have I been so disappointed! After much hype we tried rowena parade cafe, waited about 10 mins just for menu and to order coffee/milkshake, 20 mins later the milk shakes arrived, still no coffee after 45 minutes. Asked the waiter again about my coffee & was told it was coming, a total wait of an hour for one stone cold coffee, that was meant to be a strong, hot, skinny latte, instead made with full cream milk & was 3/4 foam. After a delirious waitress who seemed to forget she had customers FINALLY got us some water (politely requested 4 times) she remembered that we hadn't ordered. The special for the day was a "chicken burger" and for $20 you would have high expectations. We were shocked to see a tiny, old looking, brioche bun with one piece of dry tasteless chicken breast slapped in between a pie of lettuce and tomato, no aioli in sight and a stack of uncooked "French fries" to fill the void in the plate. After one bite we left, the entire time the waitress paid no attention to her customers & decided having a conversation with her friends was more important. Never will I return!

TERRIBLE. Went there this past Sunday. To say I was disappointed is a dramatic understatement. I do acknowledge that it was relatively busy however, as a customer, I do not feel as if this should be impacting terribly on my experience. I was there with a group of four people, who each received their ordered drinks and food at varying intervals during the interaction. Upon several reminders that we had already ordered, our waitress continued to come back and see if we had ordered. They were not even able to manage providing water to the table promptly. As for the food. Well. A "special" chicken burger was purchased for $20. To my shock, the chicken was dry and tasteless, and merely came with a piece of iceberg lettuce and terrible piece of tomato. It was also promoted as having aoili. This burger did not! Really nothing special about this. Fianally, the waitress amongst all this, seemed to have ample time to converse with friends about social activities. Surely, a cafe in such chaos, I wouldn't have thought this to be possible. I would avoid at all costs and will not be returning again.

Local Fave. Great, relaxed local cafe. Stylish interior, staff really friendly, however have become a bit slow lately.

Best milkshakes in Melbourne. Great food, nice staff, cool vibe.

Newsie stuff is nice. The new savoury muffins are great! My friend had the bircher, looked amazing and apparently delish.. and there new menu on the way!! I think i will be back!

Certainly overrated. I have been coming to Rowena a while now but as of late it hasn't been near as good as in the past. The young staff are terribly slow, forgetful & at times seem somewhere else. Food is still up to scratch, & the milkshakes are the only item that keep me coming back.

The first time I had a BLT... It grew from there! Really great place with exceptional sandwich fare and friendly service.

Genuine cafe with heart & soul. Love this place! I have always wanted to drop in after driving past many a time. I finally did and am happy to say it's as good as it' looks. The staff are super friendly and welcome you with a smile. the coffee was strong and tasty and the food well priced. Love the little baskets the food comes in. Looking forward to taking a girlfriend there on the weekend.
Mel
Cute and homely. Dropped in after reading reviews for a quick cuppa before a job interview. As a South East girl I'm out of my comfort zone in Richmond hence the need to google local cafes before my journey. Rowena's is old school and quirkily cute. I felt at home straight away and enjoyed my pot of green tea in amongst the mixed bag of tradies and business folk. Will be back for sure
Lola
Hidden Gem!. We live around the corner from this fine establishment and often pop in for breakfast. Simple, nice food and the ambience to match. You feel like you are home and Nanna is cooking your breakfast!
Laura
Best milkshakes in melbourne!!
Ballsy
So slow! Was very quiet but staff still took ages to take our order and serve the food.
Sookie
Overrated. I heard so many good things about this place but according to my experience it is overrated. Staff didn't bother to say hello when we came in and good bye when we left, they did not come to take our order and the 2 burgers we ordered took too long to arrive even if the place was not crowded. The burgers were wholesome and tasty but at 14$ I would expect chips or salad or an accompaniment of any sort. Menu is a bit shrunk.
VC
Richo rocks. If it's good enough for Richmond football players both past and present then it's good enough for me! hahaha. But seriously a lovely little place to while away the hours with some lovely food and coffee.

Bear with me... If you're a smartass, with a misguided faith in an internal compass, you'll wander the world's great cities thinking you know the way. Get off at the wrong train station, head in the right direction (almost) and perform a series of right oblique manoeuvres, getting ever closer to the Champ de Mars. Eventually a street appears and at the end, almost ironically juxtaposed on the setting sun, the Eiffel Tower is the lighthouse you've been looking for. Stand in Rowena Parade, look west and the light towers of the great stadium elicit a very similar feeling.
There you have it, the only time the Eiffel Tower and the MCG will be compared by someone who has all their teeth.
The Rowena Parade Corner Store is the counterpart to the laneway bar and the hole-in-the-wall tapas restaurant. Cute, unpretentious and something that makes Melbourne great. There are no coffee machines that look like speed labs, no earlobe-extenders, no punk staff members with more metal in-and-about their person than is present in the cutlery drawer. It's just a general store, a courtyard and a cafe that has good coffee, very respectable breakfast and polite, sensible lunch. And it's quiet.
Aaron
Nice atmosphere, nice food, but dont eat here if you're in a rush. Service can be slow.
Spoon Is A Spoon.
Traditional experience. Save for the free Wi-Fi you feel like you've stepped back into a time when milk was delivered to your door and lemonade was freshly squeezed by a brother and sister duo out the front of their house...

The food lived up to the traditional values advertised by the decor. Between the 3 of us we had the Sapanakopita, Rowena burger and Continental burger + 3 beverages (including an awesome chocolate milkshake). $50 later we couldn't be happier nor any more satisfied.

If you're after a nice meal in a nice setting, this is the palce for a lazy Sunday afternoon.
Andrew
We were really looking forward to checking out Rowena st cafe, the decor was quite nice but the service was really lacking.. The coffee took a while but was quite nice once it came. They got my order completely wrong in giving me a panini in a basket when I ordered poached egged and bacon with mushrooms. After watching my girlfriend eat her breakfast my meal arrived, the toast was cold and seemed like it had been quickly thrown together. If I had been offered a complementay coffee I would consider returning to give them a second chance but given that I didn't even recieve an apology i will definitely not return.
Pfctdayelise
Lovely local. I used to live around the corner and having this tucked away in the streets nearby was such a treat.
Chris
If you're a local in Richmond Hill you'll know and love this place. Friendly staff who know your name, coffee that never disappoints and a great breakfast selection. Stop by for a traditional old school milkshake in the afternoon after the crowds have gone!
Rport
Hiding in the back streets of Richmond the Rowena Parade Corner Store is a food lovers delight. Parking nearby can be a bit trick but the effort is worth the effort. If you like my othe reviews the you will probably love this place.

Love it! Great food & coffee and fantastic staff!. I've been to hundreds of cafes, but this is the best cafe I have been to! AMAZING food - something about those BLT's that makes them so special! Coffee is absolutely fabulous! Service - the staff are your friends - all of them! Friendly, funny and fantastic! Great family atmosphere in this place too! This place also sells any essential groceries, snacks, treats, cigarettes, even offers dry cleaning! The barista is a lovely boy who is very polite and very sweet when you get to know him!
Eat And Be Merry Crew
My choice was the Green Eggs and Ham, Virginia ham off the bone, pesto and baby spinach, baked in a pan. I am not always the biggest fan of pesto and egg dishes, finding that the stronger flavour of the pesto can overwhelm that of the eggs. That was true here to a minor extent, but what I did like about the dish was how much more balanced the flavours were when eaten with the bread. Good bread too, courtesy of the Convent Bakery.
