Review Fina's Vegetarian Cafe - Richmond

S C
Had the imitation crab noodle soup ($15), had great flavour and different types of tofu. Good portion size. Love the decorations inside and the staff were very friendly and always smiling. Only issue I had was the price, it is noticeably more expensive than other Vietnamese restaurants on Victoria St. Glad I came and will come back.

This is the first time I eat vegan Vietnamese style restaurant. The dishes are well executed and tasted really good including the fake meats! Would highly recommend the special dry noodle and the tofu chicken claypot. The food tends to be on the sweeter side but still delicious considering no meat involved. Food - 10 Service - 8 Vibe - 8 Price - $$

This place caters well for true herbivores. It was recommended to us by a carnivore and a foodie, so we knew the faux meat options would be good. We chose from an extensive menu offering popular Vietnamese dishes, which arrived at the blink of an eye. Tasty Fish Cakes and Salt and Pepper Crispy Tofu preceded the delicious Pancake, which came with a generous serving of mint, my favourite herb. My friends enjoyed their Spicy Noodle Soup and Vermicelli Noodle Salad, which were also generous in size and ingredients. We also loved the Custard Apple Smoothie, thick and creamy, reminiscent of our time in Vietnam. Fresh and wholesome ingredients throughout yielded authentic flavours and colourful presentation. The faux meat was pretty good indeed. Friendly staff and speedy service meant we could have a quick and satisfying meal before heading off to a gig. Lots of Asian memorabilia decorate the functional space. A good spot to bring friends with dietary requirements and still enjoy a casual meal.

The best vegan Vietnamese I’ve ever had. I had the rolled beef with rice paper sheets. And the mock beef was the tastiest and meatiest I’ve ever had. Highly recommended. The spring rolls were awesome as well. My partner has the Bun Bo Hue which was delicious and spicy. Will definitely be coming back. I’m sorry I didn’t discover this place sooner.

If you're a vego or vegan then this is the place to come. I was recommended this place by someone who loves meat but said this was his 'go to place' lately because everything is so tasty. The menu is extensive and there is something for everyone with that Vietnamese flavour. Enjoyed the salt and pepper crispy tofu which was cooked to perfection. My friend had the vermicili noodle salad that was so large we had to share. Really appreciated the presentation of the food as well as the speed. Comes out pretty quickly. Did like the decor, with lots of funky Asian trinkets and memorabilia that give it a nice vibe. Kids welcome.Takeaway menu available. Dietaries catered for. Wheelchair and disability friendly. Parking isn't too bad, just watch those signs as the inspectors are pretty quick here.

This is a cute vegan restaurant serving traditional Vietnamese style dishes. The staffs are very friendly. The dishes are tasty and plentiful. This is also a clean place to sit and sip coffees or fresh juices.
Sylvia
So I had the paper spring rolls, tofu stuffed with prawn and a turkish delight mousse creation. All excellent choices, go me. Those desserts in the display cabinet are all vegan.

Vegetarian food is easy to find. Amazing Vietnamese vegetarian cuisine is almost impossible. Until Fina's Let me be clear, when I say, 'Amazing Vietnamese vegetarian,' I'm not referring to vegetable curry or mixed green wok tossed in garlic sauce with a side of salt pepper tofu. I'm talking about traditional Vietnamese dishes commonly found at home. A word of caution, vegetarian broth/soup is made from fruit and vegetables, which is where all the sweetness in flavour comes from. It's much lighter and 'cleaner' than meat based stock. If you can get past it you're in for a treat. We ordered a serving of the Nem Nuong chay (vegetarian pork ball - cold rolls) and a Bun Bo Hue chay (vegetarian spicy beef soup). To say, Fina's is the best vegetarian food I've ever had is a complete understatement. There's no compromise on serving, taste and quality despite being vegetarian friendly. So next time your buddies want Vietnamese food, don't get stuck eating the same old boring vegetarian fried rice and drag them to Fina's Cafe.

I am not a vegan, but went to this cafe after searching for vegan cafes in Richmond...it was well worth the trip from Albury to eat there.....food was absolutely delicious, would definately dine there again....you can even get vegan wine...staff fussed over us, very pleasant experience

I’m a meat person but I still loved this joint. Food is wicked. Would recommend to anyone.

Great place, try the coffee! The owner is great and friendly, just try anything on the menu you can not go wrong!
Ken Peglar
Great little find. Very good food at good prices. And the manager cum waiter is fantastic. He was efficient, polite, attentive but never intrusive. His caring and sensitive approach to a disabled gentleman customer was wonderful to see. This place is a gem.
Catherine Anne
I can’t praise this place enough, try the self wrap rice paper rolls... holy shit.
Samuel Thompson
Amazing food, very fresh and spicy. Great $10 lunch specials and lovely staff.
Sally Kellett
The owner Stephen is an amazing guy and the food is cooked with love and lots of time and real ingredients as opposed to flavours being added.
Stuart Taylor
Excellent food and the owner was great.
Lise F Baker
Best Vietnamese vegan I've ever had. Happy as that we found it while staying nearby.
Amanda Scicluna
Absolutely sensational. Service was second to none. I will be coming back for sure!!!!
Jonathan Coles
Great food, and great service in a really nice cafe. Will be back!
Kirst Price
Delicious vegan food. Cheesecakes are incredible too
Katie Banakh
Never disappointed here. The owner is delightful, even when run off his feet, and the pho is magic. Definitely one of my favourite places to eat.
Anita Dundas
Delicious fresh Vietnamese food, Steven's a great host, lots of laughs. And the best smoothies.
Shaun Lim
Amazing experience enjoying such amazing vegetarian food! It's so good we came back twice in two nights! Thanks Steve for the awesome experience!
Michael Borg
Never had vegan Vietnamese food before and it was great. The owner was nice too.
Katrina Scott
We love Fina's food so much but what makes it even better is how welcome Steven makes us feel every time we visit.

Recently revisited this place after several years. Previously have always enjoyed whatever I ordered.

I ordered the mushroom hot pot because I noticed a heavy reliance on the microwave when I walked past the kitchen on my way to the bathroom. Wasn't too impressed with that.

Based off what I ordered though and the friendly service shown to us. 5 stars. Broth was perfect; very umami and tasty and the ingredients were fresh and of high quality. Would eat this every week if I can find someone to come with me for hot pot here.
Emma Louise
I love this place!
I have the vegetable pho each time - without the mock meat! And it’s so tasty! Probably one of my favourite Vietnamese places!!
The staff are so friendly and great!!

I’ve been here twice and enjoyed the meal we ordered. Both times we had the Grilled Pork Rice Paper Rolls which is like a deconstructed paper roll. You select which filling you want and wrap your own rice paper roll. There was sufficient filling to wrap 10-12 rolls (I was eating, not counting!). Loved the mock-pork. Crunchy and juicy. Will definitely visit again.

Located near corner of Church and Victoria St, parking was convenient.
Ordered a vegan Pho and the soup was quite tasty. There was a lot of noodles and veggies. A quick and cheap meal for around $13. Weekday lunch specials - $10 for selected noodles.
Service was quite fast, took 10 mins to serve.
Staff was very friendly.

Not as good as Fina in Fitzroy, but still nice! I think Finas in Fitzroy has a nicer ambience and atmosphere, but I would still recommend Fina to people who are looking for vegan Vietnamese!

FOOD:
Had the mushroom hot pot which was super yummy!!!! It comes with a lot of mushroom varieties and we topped up on the vegetables as a side add on to add a bit more greens to our plate. The hot pot comes with one boiling pot of stock, and at first I thought that wouldn’t be enough but it went a long way. With the extra vegetables it is definitely enough for three people along with a few entrees. The only comment is that I might ask for extra hot water to make the broth less salty but other than that it’s a fun dish to share with your friends!

Since my girlfriend had recently become vegetarian and I had a recommendation for Finas 2 in Fitzroy I decided to take her there on her birthday. However with Finas 2 being closed yesterday I decided on here instead. This was my first experience with a vegetarian restaurant with replacements for mast products. I found the calamari rings to be nice. With the Pho I found it to be lacking flavour in the broth however the meat replacement and vegetables were good. The fried rice was spectacular and had a genuine wok haze flavour. Well worth a visit.

I've been to Fina's in Fitzroy. Finally got a chance to try the OG outlet. This spot is gonna be a new local for sure. They've got a selection of pretty affordable noodle soups- this time I tried the crab soup with tofu, vermicelli and some other add-ins. I liked the broth flavour and texture of the spongy tofu, but wish there was a bit more to the soup. Next time I should try mock meat or something with more substance. Either way, it's a great and light option that would be good for summer.

Bonus points that food got to the table super quickly.

On this visit, I also got a Vietnamese iced coffee made with vegan condensed milk (!) So excited to be a able to get a dairy free version so close to home. At nearly $8 it's a bit expensive, but worth the splurge once in a while.
Hân Trịnh
We had VN stewed beef (fake beef made from soya), VN pancake and springrolls. The stewed beef and pancake were beautiful with generous vegi for wrapping. The fried springrolls were just so average, nothing special at all though. Service was fast and friendly. The owner seemed to be very proud of his food.
Sophie
I came here with my vegan friend, I myself eat meat but thoroughly enjoyed the food. The service was very good, staff were polite and friendly, food came out at a good speed.
Yasmin T
Lovely service, with the team being more than happy to explain their company ethos to us. The food was light yet flavourful - I loved my stir fried noodles with vegetables and my friends loved their pho and clay pot dishes! Will definitely come back again next time I'm craving some pure vego food :)
Adella C
My favourite Vietnamese spot! Some friends took me here and the choices were all excellent. I had a signature hot soup (I think) and I absolutely loved it!
Lynda Tieu
Fina's is a great casual vegetarian restaurant! Friendly staff and food is so tasty. I have been here a few times and the food is consistently good. They also have vegan dessert too which is great if you have room!

Always enjoy the food here.
Last time I ordered a beef crock pot stew. A few veggies and of course strips of faux beef. The liquid it was in was delicious! Full of flavour. Just ask for some rice to soak it all up :)
Hungry Caterpillar 🥑
First time coming here. Service was good and quick. Had the rice paper rolls and vermicelli salad bowl. Both were fairly average, have had much better Vietnamese. Nice but don’t think I’d be back.
Hungry Ronin
Well, the good news is that this place does vegan meats. Their execution of the dishes are also decent, with my veggies being crunchy and fresh. However, everything else with the restaurant is off putting. Overtly friendly one man waiter who annoys you every two seconds? Check. Smelly odour coming out of the visibly dirty kitchen? Tick. Weird sounding porno orchestra background music? Present. Another annoying fact was that most of the things we wanted to order was "finished" or not available today. Strangely enough people seem to gravitate towards this place despite the healthy competition and great selection on Victoria Street. Perhaps it's the cheap-ish pricing. Or I guess when the vegan local kids want something they don't have much of a choice. For other omnivores who doesn't need the healthy kick, go elsewhere down the road.

My partner and I come here all the time! The food is delicious and the owner is such a warm friendly guy!! Always a favourite for us ( and make sure you try the fried “chicken”)
Christine
Fina's vegetarian cafe located in Richmond and Fitzory is a little gem for vegans and vegetarians wanting to try Vietnamese food. Each meal is quite large and nutritious. The only thing lacking a bit is some strong flavours in the base of the soups.🍴🍴🍴/5

Service is friendly and food is served quickly.

Bamboo Noodle Soup- vermicelli noodles, crispy duck, bamboo, mushroom, tofu, corriander, and bean sprouts ($15)
Ilovevegetarianmelbourne
In my opinion not very authentic vietnamese food, Loving hut down the road does better dishes. I tried the pho and it was quite bland. Drinks are okay though, I had a coconut drink when i went earlier this year, pretty hard to get wrong but still the only thing i actually enjoyed
Theodore Scott
We went in on a whim but this is sure to be one of our new family favourites. Lovely food, welcoming and polite service and a calm and beautiful atmosphere!

Friendly staff at Fina's vegetarian cafe and great food. One of the places I think about when I'm in the city and hungry for a feed. Food tastes very fresh and clean.
HungryMonkey
Overrated

The cafe is well presented and has a good ambience. Is clean and the staff is very friendly.

But, was not very impressed by the food. Please don't get me wrong, it's not bad but is definitely overrated.
My fish skewers tasted like tofu & nothing like fish
My bun bo hue had no flavour of bbh, was neither spicy nor tangy. It was a good noodle soup, but not bbh

But that said the mock beef in bbh was good & if I was given the same food without being called bbh and fish skewers my rating would have been higher.

Later one of my mates told me the rice dishes there are better than soups, so I might come back later to try those out.

Sam
Lovely host, great locale and atmos (Victoria street, Richmond). We (a couple) ordered 1 x vegan pho and 1 veg x pancake. Can't fault the Pho, great depth of flavor nice mock meat/curd inclusions, mushies etc, lovely slippy noodles, the pancake was a little sweet for us... would visit again, thank you! xxxx

I love this place. I like the Bunh Hueh soup noodles, spring rolls and Vietnamese coffee. Used to go there more when I studied close by. There is variety in drinks and sweets. Reasonably priced.
RoamingEats
Tried the bamboo noodle soup at this full vegan/vegetarian joint a few months ago. It also came with crispy mock duck and tofu. Portion size was decent but flavours were somewhat lacking.
Debbie Collins
Good price for food that is the epitome of average. I went there and had their pho, but to my disappointment the flavours were quite dissatisfying. Furthermore, the accompanying raw veggies (bean-shoots etc) were not fresh and looked as if they weren't washed but rather just rinsed. However what was pleasing was the Avocado Drink. Atmosphere is okay, but staff are quite blunt.
Jericho Law
Self wrap grilled pork skewer is something interesting. Vegan curry is decent. Can be slightly better if it's not so watery. Must try for all vegetarian or vegan at Victoria Street who are looking for Vietnamese food!
Foodie Panda
brought my mum and a friend here to dine as they are vegetarians with a strict diet so i thought this place will suit their dietary requirements pretty well!

we were greeted by a helpful staff that recommended several items from the menu. we ordered the vegan bamboo slices noodles, special vegan fried rice and a bánh mi. the soup base of the noodles was really flavourful and we liked the incorporation of bamboo slices into the dish as it complimented the noodles well. the vietnamese bread roll was really crunchy and i liked how the peanuts added an extra crunch to the bánh mi.

overall, great experience dining here. friendly staff members and a cozy ambiance of the restaurant made the dining experience better as well!
Iris Myandowski
This Vietnamese vegetarian restaurant is one of my new favourites. It's always a celebration when a vegetarian/vegan specific restaurant isn't full of variations of a mildly curried sloppy chickpea mess.
And that 10 people in a row came in just for an avocado smoothie speaks for itself.
Homer
One of the best non-Indian vegetarian restaurants in Melbourne.
Huge variety in the menu and flavors are just yumm. Specially enjoy their fried rice, fried tofu and pho dishes.

Loved going to this place. This is a must try if you are vegetarian.
Sanj Tanya
Great food for a great price. Very chill and lovely staff! Love how the place is very open! Definitely a place to try with their variety! Would go back for more, would love to try everything else!
Nanette Manoir
With great reviews I thought I would try this out! I went for lunch with a couple work friends. The food was overly sweet and inedible which was a shame. We al got different meals but they all tasted the same because of the sweetness!

Never ceases to amaze me! I pretty much order the same thing every time and never get sick of it. My favourites would be the soy fried noodles and snickers slice. He owner is super friendly too! 10/10 recommend this to anyone who's after a healthy and delicious feed!
Adele W
Can't recommend enough! Fantastic service, the owner will come and explain the menu to you himself! The menu is vast, with lots of allergen and other dietary information available. They also offer delicious drinks and desserts!
Tifany_la_gourmande
What a wonderful place! We went last Friday night without a booking. Staff were extremely friendly and gave us some hot tips for our food choices. We ordered some vegetable spring rolls, rice paper rolls, bun, crab soup and prawn tofu! The food was delicious - we were even confused at how some of the meals could taste like meat or even so good without it! Drinks were also great - I highly recommend the sugar cane juice. Thank you for having us, we will definitely be back!

I came to Finas Vegetarian Cafe in Richmond last week and tried their Vegan Quang Noodle. First, it look like Curry Laksa, however it tasted so different. It was so creamy, tasty and healthy with a plate of fresh cabbage and herb on a side. I loved it and cant wait to go back to Finas again.
Michael
Nice restaurant, clean, modern, but hardly what one could call 'vegetarian'. There are no mock meats, so reviewers who praise the beef meals were eating beef. The only vegie items appear to be tofu, noodles, etc.
The food is well presented, and the restaurant well above average, but offers no more vegetarian dishes than the majority of Vietnamese eateries along Victoria Street. Good service and reasonable prices
Kim Hua Lee
Surprised to find a vegan cafe near place of visit. Good food, great service, clean & spacious layout, reasonable prices! Enjoyed the Vietnamese Vegan Spicy Noodle which came with a generous amount of fresh vegetables on the side. A generous slice of vegan cheese cake matched with vietnamese coffee completed the meal. Staff was friendly & provided good info on the menu. Will definitely be back for more.
Innes Yogi
Great Viet Vegan Pho soup freshly made.. Always friendly service from Hin and family. The chill soy sauce on the tables in highly recommended.
Anne
Best Vegan Bun Bo Hue ever!
Always come here to get my BBH fix :) Staff is also very friendly and accomodating to dietary requirements
Kat_Eats_Mel
I don't normally eat vegan/vegetarian food but my friend and I decided to dine here last night and we loved it! We ordered the vegan Spicy Beef Noodles (bun bo hue) and it has my tick of approval. Being of Vietnamese background this dish is well known to me and i think it was so well made, light (not too overly oily) and the mock meat was so good. We also got stuffed tofu with prawns and the serving was huge! Enough for 3 ppl. We enjoyed guilt free raw vegan cakes for dessert and we smashed it. The service was fantastic too the man was helpful and very friendly. Thumbs up!
Zoe Higgins
Best vegan mock meat I've had- the banh mi is amazing (even my carnivorous brother loved it!) also fantastic customer service, will be back.
Sean Jones
This place is one of a good choice for vegeterians. Always a highly recommend for Hue spicy noodle, been tried a vegeterian Pho ,too! Hm... The flavour was quite bland and seems missed some of the ordinary taste of original pho. However, its easy to understand cause there no beef bone to make Pho broth . In conclude. Just Love it!
Aislinn
My friends and I went a few days ago. We all got the vegan vermicelli bowl. It was so good. Incredibly Friendly staff with a great range of foods. So many vegan dessert options to choose from. Very cheap. High recommend to everyone even non vegans/vegetarians
Yumyumyum
Don't let the simple store front fool you this is not your regular Vietnamese casual restaurant. Serving all Vegetarian food they have a combination of traditional vegetarian food and mock meat dishes. Liked both the spring rolls and pho.
Theresa
Absolutely love the food here, and as a Richmond local, wonder why I haven't been here before. The service was friendly, quick and spot on.

We had the pho and the spring rolls. The pho was light and had a fresh flavour in the broth. Having gone vegetarian in the last year, it's something I've missed. I've always liked the lighter phos with fresh herb flavours, rather than the meatier ones, and this vegan option hit the mark. I has the mock prawn one, and that was a nice touch. They added a nice texture and I would have sworn I could not tell the difference. It does have more veggies than normal phos... Not a bad thing !

The other surprise find at Finas is freshly pressed sugarcane juice, they have a sugarcane press on site....not that insipid grey stuff you get which tells you it's canned...green and frothy... Absolutely delicious, takes me back ....I had mine with crushed ginger and lemon..brilliant combination!

I'm looking forward to going back to Finas...now I know what's on offer...will be a regular... There is lots on the menu I would like to try.
Rachel Jaye Honner
Looks like your typical, standard Viet restaurant but with a completely vegan (or vegan option) menu. Usually I'm not a fan of oily foods and mock meats so. I wish I perhaps chose different dishes to what I did. Was a little too professed/oily for my liking (but in saying that, we were the ones who ordered the oily food, so was completely out fault). If I was to come back I would order the more vege/clean based dishes like the vege stirfry or pho. The tofu nuggets and dim sim like entrees were super tasty tho! Everything else was nice and service was great. The owner is so lovely and accommodating.
Food Lover
Amazing food, drinks and desert! The owner/manager is such a nice person, always happy to answer questions and have a chat.

His philosophy is simple, good food and his customers are his friends. His customer service is really good!

Definitely coming here again (already tee'd up a dinner with my parents!)

If you are vegan and want to be able to eat 95% that's on a menu, come here! (I only found some of the sweets that had dairy - we had a peanut slice and a chocolate mud cake)

Very little limits here!

PS try the Durian smoothie
Guille Herrera
What a delicious vermicelli. A vegetarian haven. The order was really quick (5 minutes). We did takeaway and it tasted delicious and fresh. Fair price. Will recommend.
Juan Roberto
Have been here a couple of times and the food and service are just fantastic. The owner is friendly and looks after his customers. Food wise there is variety and flavours are delicious. Plenty as well which will leave you very satisfied. Try the avocado smoothie. Just awesome.
Linda Nguyen
so much flavour packed in a single dish! i loved it! and the vegan deserts are to die for! only flaw is that the seating and space can be a little crowded as its a very small restuarant, otherwise service was plesant and it had a great atomosphere!! would come back for more!
Tracy Nguyen
Fantastic vegie food ever 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
The owner and the waiters are friendly. The customer service is very good.
The place quite nice and very relaxing.
Excellent food, lovely staff & great ambience! Loved their vegan grilled pork skewer, durian smoothie and fresh sugarcane juice. Would definitely visit again 👍🏼

Fantastic! Such a great find for a vegan Vietnamese food lover! Even my meat eating parents were very impressed too. We had the Vietnamese spicy noodle soup, bamboo noodle soup and Fina's vegan salad. Everything was fresh, healthy and full of flavour! We also tried a vegan Vietnamese iced coffee and one of the raw cheesecakes, both of which I highly recommend! The owners were super friendly and helpful, the service was great and there was a lovely atmosphere. Highly recommend.
Timinmelbourne
Great vegetarian food here. The service is really personable and whilst I'm not a huge fan of vegetarian food, this is an exception. They make great noodles and the fruit smoothies are amazing! It's definitely worth a try.
Darren Borg
This was the first Vegetarian Cafe i've ever been too and I loved it (can't say I'll ever be eating 'mock' meats through 😨 - this is an acquired taste to say the least). The Vegan Vermicelli Noodle Salad is yum and fresh and the fruit drinks here are amazing.... I don't think I have had any better.
Carmy
The owner is very nice. Great food vegetarian and vegan. All the drinks are simply fabulous, especially the avocado smoothie and the mango smoothie! Great service!
Kitty Mckenzie Johnson
This place has certainly grown on me. I'm in love with the Pandan tea and the sweet potato hawker cakes! They have a broad range of dishes available and cake as well.
Melbourne Warhammer
Nice. No MSG. But not amazing. I'm Vietnamese and it's always nice to goto a affordable to eat. A little more expensive than your normal Pho places but keep in mind no MSG or Additives

I had the Pho. Presentation is ok. Not great. Vegies seemed on the cheap side. Soup need more flavour. No coriander in it.

I would suggest serve Pho with Thinly sliced Oyster Mushroom instead. Use freshly deep fried Tofu. Pickle the Cauliflower. Maybe even bamboo shoots, daikon radish, or snow peas. I wouldnot bother with the "mock beef/chicken".

Springrolls. Taste was ok rather bland. Dipping sauce need more punch = more ginger and garlic.

Sugar Cane drink was nice. Always nice when there is freshly made fruit juice alternatives. Disappointed there was nor 3/4 color bean drink.

Would i go back? Probably not
Christine De Luis
We love Fina's!! All the food is amazing, tasty & quick! Service is wonderful & friendly. We visit at least once a week to dine on our favourites. I love eating here for the vegetarian, GF & OGF options. I know I can eat happily and leave without an upset tummy!
Michelle Smith
Great service and yummy food. I had the Vermicelli noodle salad and vegan coffee cake, both were delicious! The place is cosy and laid back, the staff a lovely and helpful. Even though the menu has a lot of mock meats you can take them out and have extra veggies instead. Would recommend to anyone who loves fresh Vietnamese food.

One Tuesday afternoon a few weeks back, I was walking along Victoria St to catch a train at North Richmond Station, after a morning volunteering at Fareshare. On the way I passed Fina’s Vegetarian Cafe. I was hungry so I stopped for lunch on a whim. What a good decision!. Sometimes I get used to there being so few vegan choices on a menu, that when I am faced with a lot of choice I get menu paralysis. I miss Vietnamese food, and here is a place serving lots of it. And mostly or possibly all vegan. And cheap as well.
S.senguts
This place serves amazing fresh food, and it is so nice to actually have vegetarian options to choose from at a Vietnamese place! The owners were very attentive and helpful, offering up suggestions and even a demonstration on how to fold our own rice paper rolls. I had the pennywort drink mixed with sugarcane juice which was beautiful and refreshing, and the pork skewers which are served as DIY rice paper rolls were really tasty and lots of fun to put together and eat!
The spicy noodle soup had beautiful flavours and we can't wait to go back to explore more of the menu!
Irene Morgan
Still thinking about the takeaway pho I got from Finas on Thursday night. Just delicious.
Bpohs
Disappointed -bland food. We bought a takeaway meal to cater for vegetarian guests. On pick up the staff were cheerful and pleasant, so we were looking forward to some tasty Vietnamese dishes. The spring rolls, calamari and wontons had very bland flavours and we wondered why lettuce and mint were not provided with the spring rolls (all our other Vietnamese take aways provide them). The stir fry vegetables were somewhat more appetising, but lifeless looking. the vermicelli salad was mostly vermicelli. The greatest disappointment was the vege curry - not too many veggies, rather lots of soggy tofu in a bland curry. An opportunity lost and guests disappointed.

New restaurant on brunswick st-off the hook!. Was really excited about trying this place and it did not disappoint! The food was delicious and very reasonably price, the staff were lovely and attentive. Loved it! Is definately a new fav...

Yummy Food. The staff are always friendly and the food is always tasty.
I love the vegan Vietnamese iced coffee and the fresh sugarcane juice!
The Vietnamese pancakes are delicious and a very generous serving.
Check this little gem out!
Keng
Not sure why all these positive reviews?? Went with a group of friends - we ordered mushrooms hot pot, spicy hot pot and 2 pancakes. Pancakes are just so, so - nothing to rave about as we had better and much better value one at Co Do. The pancake in Co Do is at least 1.5 times the size at similar price. The pots are definitely not worth the money one pays - the soup is way too sweet and it cost more just to get more of the soup to cook up the mushrooms ( most hot pot places gives you extra soup at no extra cost - this pace cost $2.50 extra for a small bowl of extra soup ) and don't talk about the spicy hot pot - nothing inside the soup and it comes with just a plate of cheap vegetables and cost $28+ for a hot pot with soup that is tasteless & sugary in taste. Left the place hungry and we each pay $12.50 when I could have being very full if we are at Co Do. Would never go back there nor recommend anyone else.

Delicious healthy vegetarian fare at reasonable prices, attentive service and clean premises with a nice atmosphere...they even offered us free dessert! I couldn't ask for more!!!

Since becoming vegan a few years ago, I came to realise that there weren't very many vegan Vietnamese options out there. Vietnamese cuisine is one of my favourites, so it was a little disheartening to discover the lack of choices. Until I came across Fina’s Vegetarian Café. Fina’s started out on Victoria Street in 2011, right in the heart of a strip lined by some of Melbourne’s revered Vietnamese restaurants and soup kitchens. Steven and Christine Nguyen started their café and the name was derived from a combination of their two daughters’ names. They envisaged a destination where people could enjoy healthy Vietnamese favourites with an eye for compassion towards animals. They also, simply, wanted to make a living and enjoy seeing customers enjoy their menu. The drawcards here are simple Vietnamese hawker favourites all served speedily. There’s the fresh and crunchy bun cha gio chay – a lively rice vermicelli salad threaded with crispy sprigs of mint, coriander and tofu strips, all top

Here is what we had: Vegetarian Spring Rolls Crispy, fried and delightful. I have never met a spring roll I didn't like. I didn't even miss the meat. I'm pleased the filling wasn't just one type of vegetable eg all cabbage or carrot, etc but a nice assorted mix.

...soups were cleansing with a clean sweet taste. No MSG is added, instead the lovely ingredients gave plenty of flavour to the dishes. My noodle soup was essentially vegetarian bun bo hue. It came with the appropriate julienned purple cabbage and mint and plenty of delicious meaty soy products such as tofu, beancurd sheets and soy meatloaf which was really tasty..

Friendly & Delicious Gem!. Thoroughly enjoyed experience here - friendly staff and delicious food! Vegetarian and Vegan options available for foods. They even have a Durian smoothie (yum)! Fina's is a gem in Richmond - I'll come here more often for sure. A good choice for those who don't want to cue for Vegetarian food in Fitzroy.

Malcolm. Great food at very reasonable prices, friendly service, nothing is too much trouble for the staff there. Even my Vegan son with corn and wheat/gluten allergies had many choices.

Well worth the drive from Frankston!

Dry Soup. Bursting with flavour

-----21 Aug, 2014-----

The Best Dry Soup In the World. I would have to describe the dry soup at Fina's as the best I have ever eaten and I eat a lot of dry soups. The bowl is generously filled and is bursting with flavour. My problem is that I love the dry soup so much that I never get to taste anything else on the menu. I do however always top it off with the Avocado drink. Do yourself a favour and try these two items on the menu, I guarantee that you will make this one of your favourite restaurants to eat out at.

Good food but bad customer service. Food is good but the owner is very bad with customer service as not at all polite when asked any question. Will look for alternative restaurant where someone is more happy with customers.

Fresh, fabulously delicious, festive reception, and flawless balanced dishes. I can't fault this place at all, will be back next week for sure. Very kid friendly as well which makes a difference. Thank you Finas for making our day a joy today!

I had a delicious mock beef stew complete with disturbingly realistic "beef" gristle. Excellent value for money. The avocado smoothies here are awesome also.

Authentic vegetarian Vietnamese. Very 'homey' feel.. Being of Vietnamese heritage and vegetarian, I was thrilled to find this restaurant. Serves up a lot of Vietnamese cuisine you don't get in most establishments. Charming place from the kids happily (and respectfully) talking in the corner, a beautiful Buddha statue, low-key music and a the long black ice cold Vietnamese coffees. Well priced and great service.

Great restaurant!. Amazing restaurant! The juices are really good too. The only suggestion I would make is adding ice to the juice, just so it's a bit colder. The food is really good (and cheap), plus the servings are big. The staff were polite and spoke English very well. The decor was nice, but the music was a bit loud. I would definitely return.

Viet vege at its best. I LOVE this place. Delicious Vietnamese vegetarian served by very friendly staff. I always leave Fina's with an overly full stomach. I think it's time for another visit soon...

Untitled. Melbourne has plenty of vegetarian restaurants, but I hadn't heard of a Vietnamese one until now. There should be more - the food was amazing!

The cold rolls came with exquisitely plush rice paper wrapping and a tasty filling flavoured by mushroom, herbs and tofu, so much better than the damp wads full of rice noodles and iceberg you get at train stations and food courts.

I had the simplest dish - fresh rice vermicelli with pickled Vietnamese salad, crunchy fried tofu, and sliced spring rolls. It comes with a sour, tasty sauce on the side. A really simple meal, and a perfect combination of hot and cold, crunchy and soft, salty and refreshing. The menu has plenty more to offer - vego pork skewers, vego pho noodle soup, and all sorts of noodles and veggies in soups or spicy sauces. The main courses were unbelievably good value at about $10. I though the clientele would be vacationing Brunswick East hipsters, but no, this place is part of the proper Vietnamese community along Victoria St.

Add in that fantastic super-strong Vietnamese drip filter coffee served over condensed milk and you have a fantastic chilled out weekend lunch. The venue is casual and friendly, and also does a big range of ice drinks - iced coffee, purple taro slushie, avocado smoothie, iced coconut drink, and plenty more.

YUMMMY!!. I have been looking around for ages for a good vegetarian place that doesn't serve onion/leeks with their dishes.

this place is the nuts. so good. i live all the way in Sunshine and driver here all the way to Richmond at least once every week to have some of their tasty soup bowls (and curry =P)

service is great, owner is friendly, food is awesome, if only they opened one of the west side

=) x5

Yummy Spring Rolls. This place had the best vegetarian spring rolls I've ever tasted. It tasted so good that it didn't taste vegetarian at all!

Delicious Vietnamese cuisine with delectable vegetarian substitutes. Excellent customer service and yummy desserts!

Fantastic, fresh food. We had a dinner of 16 people which was a breeze for them. Highly recommended!!!

Vegie Delight!. We love it here! Our host, Steve, was the nicest chap with a great sense of humour and never short of advice should you have trouble choosing from the tasty options. We've been twice, and it was excellent both times. The food is fresh, flavoursome and VEGAN! :) My favourites so far are the build-it-yourself rice paper rolls (seriously deliciosogoodnesslyummo I crave it all the time) the crispy noodles, the spicy noodle soup, the vietnamese coffee, the avocado smoothie (you just got to try this revelation: sweet, creamy & amazing). Eat till you burst, revel in the wholesome sustainance, guilt-free yumminess. Will be back, Balwynboy out.

Great food and a good price. Even if you're a meat eater, you'll love their noodle soup.
Very genuine stuff (speaking as a former carnie).

The staff's great too.

Amazing food with out the msg. Would recommend it here.. Service is fantastic and friendly. Best vegetarian rest in Richmond. Much better than loving hut.. Would definitely come here again.. Fresh, friendly and tasteful..

Fantastic. We read the reviews and felt we had to give it a try. I am vegetarian but hubby isn't, but we were as pleased as each other with the food. We had a tofu salad with loads of fresh herbs and a sauce you apply yourself, tofu and a noodle veggie dish and rice, fantastic! The food was so fresh and tasty and the service was fast and friendly. We will be making the journey again for sure, if for nothing else but that tofu salad, oh yum!

I LOVE this place and eat here almost every week with my friend Tram - sometimes even more than once a week. The food is so delicious (even my non-vegetarian friends love it as well) and the price is very affordable. My favourite dish is the Hue style spicy noodle dish ( bun bo hue) and I would recommend this to everyone if you can handle a little bit of spicy food. My friends and I enjoy the cosy family run atmosphere of this restaurant. See you tonight Christine and Steve!

Highly Recommended!. We just made our 5th visit there and are happy to say their service is consistently great. The staff are very friendly and attentive. Their food is fantastic. The Banh Xeo (Vietnamese Pancakes) would be our favorite. The Pho (Beef Noodles) could be improved but the rest of the menu is quite appetising. Highly recommend Fina's Vegetarian Cafe for a beautiful Vietnamese meal.
Maria.ampongan2
Best Vegetarian Cafe. We're Vegan and have been looking for a Cafe that serves fresh tasting food at a cheap price. Their dishes are amazing and very filling. Our favorite dish is the vegetarian salad with tofu and spring rolls. For 30 bucks you can feed a family of three easily.

The staff is also very friendly and service is fast. This is the best place to go if you are in the Richmond area.

Must try restaurant!. I'm a meat lover (my apologies to all vegetarians and vegans out there), I used to hate vegies . But one day, I discovered this restaurant when I was going vegetarian for the Lent's 40 days period.
Well, since that day, I've been enjoying vegie dishes at Fina's cafe so much that I even want to convert myself to a permanent vegetarian. But the only bad thing is I got used to eating meat, so now I'm doing like at least 3 days of vegies only per week. That doesn't seem so bad, huh?
The dishes over there are super super tasty, you must must must try it! Even meat lovers (like me), you MUST!

We love Fina's!. My partner and I absolutely love Fina's restaraunt! We have tried almost all the menu items and we can't praise it enough! The food is very light and very fresh. There is hardly any mock meat so its mostly just fresh vegies in the most delicious Vietnamese dishes ever!

Please try either the rice paper rolls, the new tofu pockets or any of the vegetarian pho soup's. You wont regret it! Its sort of more of a family environment, very confortable and relaxed and super affordable. If you are still hungry by the end of it (which I highly doubt), try a avocado smoothie- just avocado, whizzed. Or they have these lotus seed desserts that are super tasty!
Well worth a try :-)

Had a late lunch here today and instantly felt like I was back in Vietnam. The atmosphere was relaxed and the service was really friendly and efficient. The food was fresh, healthy and generous portions. I had the spicy noodle soup and my boyfriend had the vermicelli with tofu and spring rolls. We were both very happy and will most definitely be back. Yummy Vietnamese coffee and sweets to!

The only real VN Traditional Vegetrian Restaurant in Richmond. I usually go to Victoria St, Richmond for dinner with my friends as there are many Vietnamese restaurants are located on this street. I was really enjoy the Vietnamese food here initially, because it gave me the taste of my hometown( Vietnam). However, after having Vietnamese food in Australia for a period of time, I was realizing that they all gave me the same boring, salty and oily taste in general. I am not criticizing all of them, but none of the Vietnamese food in Australia was able to impressed me. Nevertheless, I have just found a new place on this street, and they specialized in Vietnamese traditional vegetarian food which I never thought that i could find such nice Vn vegetarian food like this in Australia. Finally, there is one could impress me now. Check it out if you guys want to know my feeling. The restaurant name Fina's vegetarian cafe and is located at 268 Victoria St, Richmond 3121. Tel: 94286765

Great food, great service.. A friend who works locally took me here for dinner and I was pleasantly surprised. All four of the dishes we ordered were lovely, the staff were really friendly and knowledgable, and the prices were low for the quality of the food. I'll be eating here again.

Lunch Saigon style. In Melbourne for a few days, bf and I went exploring along Victoria St, Richmond, looking for vegetarian lunch and as luck would have it, chanced apon Fina's Cafe, close to the Church Street corner. I ordered Duang Noodle, a vege pho noodle soup, with mushroom and tofu that was absolutely delicious. Bf ordered the Vegetarian Curry with noodles and he gave it the big thumbs up. After lunch we relaxed in the cool, friendly atmosphere of the cafe, drinking Iced Coffees (Saigon style), watching the passing street life and chatting to Steve, the owner. Fina's is a great little cafe with lots of charm and we recommend it.

Amaaaaazing! We have been here twice now & absolutely love it. Really great food for vegos & meat eaters alike (you won't miss your meat here) with fresh ingredients & great flavours. Food is vietnamese favourites like pho, spring rolls, 'crab' soup, bun... All yummy. The owner is just about the friendliest guy you would meet & he makes beautiful fresh fruit juices to order. I'm going back next week! Yum.

Vegetarian Curry & Coffee. Being a lover of good coffee and curry I consider this
Cafe in Richmond a real discovery. I always have a double shot Latte on my regular visits, to finish after a serving of the excellent vegetarian curry with glass noodles. My favourites are the specialty of the house, those small custard pastries which wonderfully complement their Vietnamese coffee. The service is consistently friendly and polite. The Owner and his wife are very helpful and always happy to suggest a dish to suit your particular requirements. Bravo, Christine and Stephen!

Already close to satisfied we were bombarded with ‘prawn’ filled tofu, spicy veg noodles in broth, a vegetable pancake and fried rice.

Vegetarian Heaven… not something everyone would pronounce and I am a very happy carnivore but perfectly happy with a spicy vegetarian feast! Fina’s is one of the many unassuming spots on the Victoria Street that don’t look look anything swanky but you know the food is going to be totally fab!! We are greeted with smiles and wonderful tea and the menu is fantastic, lots to choose from and the guys are happy to share this on their facebook . Fried wontons (vegetarian ofcourse!) are divine! Crispy gorgeous pockets of veggie loveliness, it isn’t a mushy filling and really great! Rice paper rolls are perfectly lovely with a deep nutty dipping sauce, my fellow diner is missing a big prawn through the middle! But they are jam packed with vermichelli and veggies! The mains are a tempting list of curries, noodles and rice and I am full of cold so the thought of a fantastic fragrant spicy broth is just what the doctor ordered!! Holy …. carrot!! Sooo amazing, a great level of spice with extra chi

There is something special about sharing meals and as a vegetarian I rarely get to enjoy such an occasion.

For those who are used to meat-based phos, the veggie pho doesn't quite deliver. The broth doesn't have the same deep, cinnamony-beefy-anisey flavours that you'd usually get with a meat-based pho. This veggie pho was more like a veggie noodle soup, made with mock meat, thick rice noodle, mushroom, tofu and herbs ($9.00).
