Review New Quarter - Richmond

D. YOUN
Very unique Asian fusion. Quality ingredients, with great flavour and depth. Lots of options. Great for sharing! they were very nice and carefully explained all the dishes. Will return with friends!

The staff were very helpful and friendly, the ambient was great... Food was a tapas "to share" style and it trickled through to the table through the time we were there. I was hungry and the portion size was never going to fill me up and some of the dishes had the potential to taste as good as they looked but didn't. Refer to photos for menus and the dishes we ordered as well as the restaurant interior

Worst recent experience. The portions are too small. The portions and prices you order should be adequate at other restaurants. But at this restaurant. Ordered about 70 percent of the menu and still couldn't get enough. I actually ate and felt very hungry. And the food is too slow. I'm going to dinner, not a concentration camp. I don't know why the portions are so small. I'm going to go to McDonald's for another hamburger after dinner. And it's really slow. It took at least two hours for all the dishes to be served.

Nice Vietnamese restaurant that serves up modern vietnamese food. We tried most of their dishes and highlights for me are the chicken liver tiger bread banh mi, chicken croquettes with laughing cow cheese and turmeric chicken. The tiger bread banh mi had really nice crispy texture to it and I believe they also leave some crispy chicken skin in the pate itself. Chicken croquettes were made with proper chicken pieces and the laughing cow cheese brought back some good childhood memories. The turmeric chicken meat was succulent and tender.

Not one for unrealistic expectations before or hyped reviews after. Here is the summary: New Quarter entrees are meh, mains are great (the Barra and chicken). Its settings chic and inviting but the service was not. We were told kitchen is slow and we have a 2 hours slot, plenty I would have thought. We were constantly hurried by unengaged staff and our experience ended in 80 minutes with plenty of time to spare. Not keen to repeat.

Good balance of diner favourites and interesting fresh dishes at an energetic venue. We really enjoyed the bahn mi fingers, which was a condensed flavourbomb of the classic sandwich, liver pate was great. The beef tartare was tastily balanced combined with the anchovy tapioca crisps although perfectly fine without them also. Other memorable dish was the whole roasted sole, with the seasoned crumb that worked really well with a well cooked fish. The only downside to this was needing some craft and attention to pick out the fillets without getting a mouthful of bones - something we probably only realised in hindsight might be more comfortable doing at home rather than in the middle of a busy dining room. Would recommend speaking to the servers about finding the right amount of food to order. Service overall was really attentive and communicative, a step better than many places we've been to.

I was really excited to check out this place based on my fond memories of Hanoi Hannah in Windsor. The menu looked so inspiring I was cursing that we weren't famished enough to try the Set Menu and that we would be limited to a plant-based diet tonight. We started with the Banh Xeo open pancake. I never knew artichoke and tofu could be this scrumptious! This was followed by a Green Curry of grilled Brussels, broccolini and snow pea tendrils. If you'd told me I would enjoy Brussels Sprouts I wouldn't have believed you, but this dish was bursting with flavour and a combination of textures that really appealed to us. I'm not sure about the Eggplant Schnitzel, which was so hard I worried about chipping my tooth. This was redeemed by the Banh Uot noodles which were so simple and yet so intriguing in its flavours. Super friendly staff helped us with the menu choices and made us feel welcome throughout the night. The dimly lit interior and artwork created an atmosphere that's great for date nights. I would come back again to try the meat / seafood offerings and just avoid that Schnitzel...

This place is the goods! Had such a great time, very friendly staff, great atmosphere and the food is to die for! Had the premium menu for one and almost couldn't walk afterwards but every dish was on point. Hard to pick out an individual highlight as everything was so good!

Tastier food. More choices than Windsor. Young talented friendly floor staff. Good place to hang out. Can be noisy and must book to avoid a long waiting time.

Amazing - authentic Vietnamese food, fabulous service and very friendly, helpful staff. Will definitely be back.

Awesome food, awesome staff. Recommend to anyone looking for good food and a great night out !

Dont you hate a no reservations policy... the restaurant said jusr come along and our friendly staff will find you a table... they didn't! That just says no idea of good service to me. Diners beware!! There's lots better out there.

OMG what an experience. Food was out of this world and the service was 10/10. Best decision to just drop in as we had no idea where we were going to eat.

Absolutely stunning food & service. Delicious Mojitos 💞💞💞

BIG ++++++ for food & hospitality. Well done HH!

as good as the original down in prahran but with much larger seating capacity plus a slightly bigger menu. pho, hanoi style spring rolls, sticky pork pineapple vermicelli, pork hock, tuna rice rolls - all excellent

Went here after it reopened from covid 19, the food was great. All the staff members were incredibly lovely and it seems to be just a gorgeous work environment there

Food was amazing! Service was so good! Get in before 6pm and do yourself a favour and grab a watermelon spritz! Calamari and rice paper rolls were amazing!

While definitely firmly out of the traditional box, this inner city pho is by far my favourite. It’s the extra touches that make it special (eg fried shallots atop the chicken variety) and the flavoursome broth has a good depth. Had one last weekend (after getting home a little late the night before) and it was the perfect revitaliser. 3 different types of chilli condiments on offer (pickled all the way for me!). I couldn’t fault the wait staff either, the right amount of attention, but also not hovering or crowding us, very laid back vibes here. I had chicken on this day, but I’m also a huge fan of their beef!! Have never tried the mushroom pho, but am tempted as it looks very good. Reliable, well priced and excellent flavours.

The food was filling, tasty and well presented. Unfortunately the service lets it down. The waitress took our plates away while we were still eating, she did not even bother to ask if we were done. When we paid our bill, I noticed they had charged us without our consent for some charity donation which is not ok. The place is also overpriced.

The atmosphere is this place was great! We had a great time dining here and would definitely return to try out some other dishes. Highly recommend!
Good Food Good Mood
We visited HH last night for dinner and enjoyed the feed me menu which had a substantial amount of food. Some of the standout dishes were the kingfish ceviche (surprisingly I was okay with the heat level on all the dishes despite being a fair wuss when it comes to chilli) which was lovely and delicate and the betel leaf which was packed full of flavour.

I love betel leaf in general but I would never have ordered this one as it was mushroom and tofu, two things I dislike but it was actually delicious. The stir fried morning glory again I wouldn’t typically order but was truly flavoursome and really yummy.

The bbq chicken some at the table complained wasn’t cooked properly and fed this back to staff who returned the dish to us and said it’s sous vide (not sure if that means it’s okay that there was visible blood on it?!). Service in general were okay but there was one particular waitress, a blonde lady who was incredibly rude. We finished on a high with an extremely tasty coconut banana fritter

My Three Pointers
* Vibe is everything
* Food on point
* location is excellent

I visited before a Prelim finale at the MCG, once I walked through those doors I new immediately I made the best decisions to start our day here. The venue is walking distance to ground and when we discovered they had a bottomless drinks for42pp for 2 hours that just made things 1000 better. Excellent value and considering you pay $16.00 for a Aperol in Melbourne, it only made sense.
The interior is inviting, laid back, timber furnishings a long bar and the tunes are playing and your having fun before you even have a bite to eat.
Vietnamese tapas food options and we thought the food was quality, this place has momentum for a reason and I can see how it has become a favorite. It is also inspiring that non Vietnamese owners can bring such good quality, they must love Vietnam. The salt and pepper calamari was so good we also had sizzling wagyu with some morning glory stir fry, phu Cuan and yes I loved it all. The flavors will have me walking through those doors every time I go to the G.
The best part of our experience was the service. From the moment we walked in smiles from Melbourne to Vietnam. Such a fun, bubbly environment the staff have created and still very professional. Not sure of our waitresses name but she was amazing. Funny, friendly, helpful and made us feel so welcome. Did not have to request my drink be filled, did not have to call for attention. She was the best and if I get to see her every time I visit I will be over the moon. Thank you, even though Collingwood lost we had your restaurant to talk about.

Overall score: 21/25 or ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
in 5 words: unique viet cuisine with drinks
*
✅ Recommended: Pork hock, Hanoi spring rolls, lemongrass chicken vermicelli

💬 Review: it’s always buzzing with lively chatter and happy conversations at this Richmond outlet, and it’s easy to understand why. Hanoi Hannah has a wide selection of drinks and treats. The music playlist is a mix between progressive and rap music, making it ideal for group meetups and celebrations.

After 3-4 trips here, I’ve discovered my favourites at this iconic place - the pork hock, lemongrass chicken and Hanoi spring rolls. I could go on and on about the Hanoi spring rolls but just order it. They are fried well and filled to be brim with an unhonestly unknown but delicious meat combo. The lemongrass chicken is also tender but full of flavour.

Their pork hock is gooood. While you are eating a big slab of meat, Hanoi Hannah added so many side dishes to go with it that it feels like you are having different experiences within a dish. There’s noodles, pineapple and lettuce wraps to keep your mouth busy. Quite enjoy the sweeter satay dipping sauce! My only comment is to bring wet tissues because the meal can get quite sticky! We ended the meal with banana fritters and coconut ice cream. Portions were big and the banana-coconut combo is classic and unbeatable.

Ultimately, there may be more authentic Vietnamese joints at Richmond. Where Hanoi Hannah NQ wins is in their ambience and unique interpretation of Vietnamese cuisine. If you ordered the right dishes and top it up with drinks, you are bound to have a good time.
*
Taste: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Ambience: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Presentation: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Price: ⭐️⭐️⭐️
Service: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

We had been trying to get into the restaurant for a few weeks and finally got a bar seat straight away on a Saturday night. It was worth the wait! All of the food was so fresh but the highlight for me was the ceviche with the delish pineapple flavoured sauce.

Great food, and somewhere I use to take all my friends visiting Melbourne.
Just don't order the $62 "all you can eat" any more … you get hardly any food and don't get to choose anything (even when they promise "you won't leave hungry"). You basically just end up with the small dishes they can't get rid of on the night. Disappointed to lose one of my old favourites!

Ordered a Mushroom Pho which was pretty decent for a veg broth. Rice paper rolls were decent but could have more punch in flavour. Everything was fresh and the place is pretty chic.

Some of the tastiest food you can eat, from begging to end. Great curries, awesome flavours!!! Sitting at the bar is always fun chatting and having fun with the bartenders

Staffs are so friendly, unfortunately the food is not as what I expected. Order betel leaf, salmon salad, stir-fried morning glory, wagyu beef. Betel leaf - nice and love the coconut flavor. Salmon salad - the crackers is not fried properly. Part of it still uncook. Salad has too strong fish sauce smell. Stir-fried morning glory - come out it is Chinese Brocolli but staff still introduce as morning glory. And it is too salty for me. Last dish is wagyu beef - on a nice sizzling hot plate. Look like missing some garnish but overall is ok. Good to try it once but maybe won't consider back again.

Went here before the football. I Barack for the mighty Richmond tigers. Id like to think that I’m a good supporter but my attendance is really poor and I never watch the games on television.

What a great experience! I dined here for a work outing and was very impressed. Our reservation was already ready when we arrived early and we were placed along the back wall so as to have some space but not be tucked away out of the atmosphere. I was also pleasantly surprised at the seating space allocated - there was no awkward elbow bumping or knee touching. Our host was very attentive, quick and efficient: easily catering to our dietary requirements. She also had a fantastic memory (it always impresses me when staff don’t write down your order and still get it right). The food was delicious! We had a booking of 9 (8+ has automatic feed me menu) which was very well priced and each dish scrumptious. My favourite was the spicy eggplant dish and the tiri-mi-sally (divine!) a strong Vietnamese coffee flavoured tiramisu that was at once very rich but very more-ish!
I would happily recommend and return.
Sunny Days Melbourne
We were really impressed with our experience at Hanoi Hannah New Quarter. We ordered a few dishes to share from their quite extensive and exciting menu.

The highlights were the salt and pepper calamari and the pork hock. The calamari was cooked perfectly with a lovely crispy coating. The salt and pepper had an added hint of kaffir lime which brought the whole dish to another level. The pork hock was well prepared with an amazing caramelisation. The meat just fell off the bone and was super tender.

Service was great so rest assured, we will be back.

When it comes to dining, Melburnians love new concepts, spawning a restaurant scene that’s constantly evolving. But we also love reinterpretations of places and dishes we’ve grown to love. . If a new venue wants to be successful in this city, it needs to offer some semblance of familiarity, whether that be through its dishes or its design or its associations.
Valerie
I had their beef pho a while ago. Customer service is great, but overall I would say that their food is pretty mediocre and a little pricey.

This cuisine rates, hence 5-stars. The Vietnamese tastes were authentic, each ingredient was skilfully put together, and presentation were works of art. Service was respectful and helpful, explaining how to eat some of the dishes. And thank you for the water for the Cookie pooch.
Melbourne Lifestyle Blog
Hanoi Hannah has almost been a Melbourne institution for some years now, and with this success, the trendy Vietnamese eatery is opening in more and more locations. The Richmond location is away from the plethora of happy go lucky Vietnamese restaurants on Victoria Street, and boasts clean and happy decorating, with modern Vietnamese food, and up beat cocktails.
It was a night of hit and misses was the food.

I tried a range of different dishes, some of the highlights included the pork belly, which was amazing!! Yummo and a mango beer was good.

Otherwise it was ok overall.

Kingfish ceviche was ok, tasty but it lacked a depth of flavour to the point of being a bit bland. Mmnn

The kingfish rice paper rolls were more tasty but they had ran out of tuna which was disappointing.

The barramundi tasted watery to me, and there was little sauce so it was also rather bland. Gosh.

A chicken salad was ok but the salad was really similar to the green papaya salad, i.e. w the addition of chicken. But this dish was more tasty than some
of the other dishes.

I had some Chinese donuts which I didn’t really enjoy.

Then the green papaya salad once again just lacked much flavour. There was a lot of coriander and I was once again found myself looking for some sauce, and some sweet and sour flavours to lift this dish.

Overall my experience was pretty average.

Ordered the set for 2 people, filling for 2 ladies. Fusion Vietnamese that was tasty. Service was speedy and great. Friendly staffs who were willing to tell you what the dish is and constantly checking up on you.

This place really blew me away. Got seated straight away and service right away. A great menu which was explained and recommendations were on point. I thought the food here was exceptional. Everything was perfect for sharing, well cooked and so full of flavour. Thw sauces a highlight. This is up there as one of my favorites in Melbourne.

This modern fusion Asian-Western Vietnamese restaurant offers a combination of modern style meals. Will note that their meals do take a considerable amount of time to come out; we came on a Sunday afternoon for a late lunch. They also have a specialty 'yum cha' menu (which is a Chinese cultural tradition ?) that runs only on Sundays. Was disappointed that we were only asked once if we would like to try one of their star dishes during the ‘yum cha’ servings, despite seeing numerous waiters walking around and asking other customers (most possible due to our location that we were neglected by some staff).
The dining space was quite crowded, but my friend and I managed to snag a spot overlooking an intersection which proved to be a lovely scenic seat. Ordered the tuna sashimi and charred asparagus rice paper roll, the latter of which was sulky; although stated as being both vegetarian and vegan, the roll itself harnessed an overwhelming acidity and saltiness which drowned out the vegetables and fresh enoki mushrooms within the rice paper roll(would not suggest trying). However, the tuna sashimi roll was recommended to us by the waitress, and was enjoyed thoroughly by my friend. For the price, I would suggest attempting this customer favourite if you're looking to try out a contemporary take on Asian-fusion. The prawn spring rolls– which are only on offer for takeaway– were standard and offered a small portion size, despite costing $14 (definitely very pricey)!
Will note that I was extremely eager to try out their yellow curry (which is vegan); can say that the portion sizing is definitely generous, and would suggest ordering if you are looking to share a meal with friends or family. The tofu and toasted coconut flakes ensured that the curry stood out as a modern dish (the smallest details certainly matter the most!), both adding as great additions to the overall dish. Must note that the curry itself was quite spicy and hot (would suggest that they put this on the menu as a warning for customers); was disappointed, though, by the lack of vegetables evident in the actually curry! Only received one pineapple (which was sour and tart) as well as three small slices of pumpkin that could have been cooked to a softer texture (some were still quite starchy and stringy). Highlights do include that the curry held a hefty consistency (not gluggy or watery at all) and the portion of rice offered was reflected generously by the amount paid.

Overall, I would suggest this restaurant to customers looking to try a modern take on Vietnamese/Asian cuisine, suitable to a Western diet. I do think that attempting to fuse together various Asian cuisines is entering dangerous territory, and personally, I don't think Hanoi Hannah executed their meals as successfully. Concludingly, I don't think I would return again, as I believe there are more affordable restaurants offering greater flavour and Vietnamese authenticity.

My colleagues and I came here for our monthly lunch today. I ordered the Veg Spring roll vermicelli (usually only on the takeaway menu, but was told I could still order it), and my colleagues ordered the chicken vermicelli, steak and yellow vegetarian curry.

All of our food came out and very different times. Both chicken vermicelli salad's came out at least ten minutes before mine. My colleague's vegetarian curry, which the waitress confirmed was vegetarian on multiple occasions, had chicken in it. It doesn't even have chicken listed on the menu.

My $18 vermicelli salad had to be one of the most disappointing meals I've ever eaten. It was as if the chefs threw a whole bunch of leaves, cucumber and noodles in a bowl, with spring rolls as an afterthought. No shallots, no carrot, bean sprouts. For $18 I was expecting something a bit more like what I'd get at Mekong, if not better. I felt robbed to tell you the truth.

The staff were kind and friendly but clearly had no clue what was going on. My colleagues were happy with their meals (despite the chicken in the vegetarian curry), but I can safely say that I will never go to Hanoi Hannah again.

We visited with friends specifically as we’ve been recommended for the good food, which did not disappoint at all. The bottomless alcohol option was a great option too.

However the service was somewhat unimpressive. After being there for about an hour we’ve had maybe 4 small ‘yum cha’ dishes. Some dishes served via the ‘yum cha’ service you just don’t get because they came out on a tray with limited serves. We had to ask if we could order from the menu which we then had to request for the menu twice. Once ordered they came more steadily.

The wait staff were always polite and friendly.
I think perhaps an brief explanation of how things work might have save the frustration in the first place. Lack of attention to smaller details like lacking cutlery available for a table already set for table booked for specific number of people, shows the level of care.
Azusa
Expensive lunch fare and have to be picky about food, the best i have is the grilled chicken vermicelli noodles and i will go back for that. But the rest are really meh. Curries are blend, the other pork vermicelli noodles are dry and just disappointing, at that price with other options this place wont be my first choice
Selena Zhang
Ordered the lemongrass banh mi as well as the turmeric tofu banh mi during my lunch break.

Wait was over 15 minutes for something that would typically be made in less than 3 minutes in front of you at a vietnamese bakery. I understand that it would’ve taken a while to make considering it’s not a vietnamese bakery, and instead an actual restaurant, but I felt that the authentic banh mi flavour of it was lost. I was quite disappointed.

The interior, however, is nice and it feels quite trendy for a vietnamese restaurant - Maybe I’ll come again next time and dine in? Can’t say it’s something I’d go out of my way for though. Sorry :/
Sanyk28
It was VERY TASTY with very generous portion - none of us could finish our bowl which was only the medium size. The only reason that I gave four star was the little bone that I bit into - A shiver down my spine immediately.

Bottom line: We will still love to go back. It was overall pleasant. Good value for money.
Melbourne To Mouth
We went to HH for their two hour brunch special last weekend and absolutely LOVED IT. Not only is it amazing value for money, the food is spectacular. I can't believe I waited so long to go to this place after knowing the first one was great.
The Sunday service was also awesome and the drinks package wasn't like most places where you're crying out for another drink, they just kept rolling in throughout our meal.
Highly recommend the crab and lamb ribs - my two favourite dishes. Get around this for an awesome way to spend the afternoon!

A few days overdue but I must give a shout out to the restaurant manager Ash for his service and that of his team. Turned a difficult situation around and best of all, food was great. Will be back. Highly recommended. Cheers, Michael

This place is buzzing on a Saturday night. Came in here around six o’clock and it was packed. I ordered the mushroom pho which was clearly labeled as vegan which is always a plus for me. The menu here on Zomato however has not been updated with there new prices. The menu I received is exactly the same but with everything a few dollars dearer.

Well great buzz
They didn’t have 3 of the Gins. I was after. Shame the staff weren’t briefed poor to service.
Had the “Best Bits. $55 pp
Food. Was good. Very tasty But. I didn’t feel it was to the value of $100 for 2
And. The staff over all need to be more aware of the guests. , if we didn’t wave them over. They would just blind side you ,
I will be back. I’d love to give a higher score but they already have 2 other stores. So sorry guy. Grow. But get you act together please

I must say the kingfish ceviche was excellent great balance very clean nice heat from the green chillies and nice piquancy to the sauce

The char roast chicken had a umami char to it. And the morning glory greens were excellent
Like the steel straws in our G&Ts
Stools are absolutely the worst guys get the upholstery guys in really ? In this day. And you are not even a year old in Richmond

Green curry was ok. Definitely had better
More lime leaf , basil , coriander. blachan and more heat. It’s Thai for gods sake
Lamb ribs. If you are serving 2 people. Why the hell give 3 pieces ?? Seriously does that mean if it was 1 guest. You’d give 1.5 lamb ribs ???
Train your staff to talk to each other. It equals good service. Yes they were all very polite and friendly but no leader therefore it shows.

Everything we ate was amazing. SO many different flavours & so fresh. Waiters were awesome, so friendly. Atmosphere was great, busy and good vibes.

Overall - definitely recommend & will be back!!

Great place! We shared a bunch of dishes between 5 of us and everything was delicious. I loved the deconstructed pho rolls and the glass noodle salad. The spicy green curry was amazing too. Highly recommend.

Came here with a group of friends for our birthdays. We started with the duck summer rolls which were tasty and cocktails which were fantastic. I had the crab salad which had flavour but it was small and underwhelming. The pho was too salty. The lemongrass chicken and pork vermicelli salad were delicious.

Big, busy and bustling. Ultra cool and friendly staff.
Food is great - modern Vietnamese, served with a great selection of drinks... gotta love the tinnies of Aussie and Vietnamese beers.

The soft shell crab salad with apple and herbs was sensational; spicy chicken curry had a great delayed heat. The spring rolls were tasty, but not sensational. Similar to the beef ribs. Tender meat, but a bit fiddly, so not awesome.

Overall - well worth a visit.

We came here especially to try the pho cuon, which was lovely. The king fish sashimi was bland and boring. The crispy pork with Vermincelli net was average. Prices were high for these dishes. Service was quick and friendly. We also ordered beef pho noodle soup also bland. So the night wasn’t to exciting for us.
Deelight
The service here was great! Friendly and super helpful and they were extremely busy so it was great to see that it didn’t effect their customer service.
Food was delicious ... the pork hock is a must have.

Upon my arrival at Hanoi Hannah New Quarter I requested a table for two, which was not available at the time. I was given the option of sitting at the bar for the evening or waiting around 25 minutes for a table. I opted for the bar, which I quite liked and the seats were really comfy.
My friend and I ordered the Braised Sticky Lamb Ribs and Hanoi-style Spring Rolls to share - both were delicious and full of flavour.
For a main I ordered the Tender Beef Pho and my friend opted for the Sticky Pork Vermicelli.
The Tender Beef Pho was okay and the beef was cooked nicely, but overall it was a bit bland.
I tried some of my friends Sticky Pork Vermicelli and it was quite nice!
Staff were very warming/friendly and quick to rectify the error when the Chicken Vermicelli was brought out instead of the Pork Vermicelli.
I would definitely return again to try other items from the menu.

Absolutely delicious food from the newest Hanoi Hannah restaurant.
Situated in a great location in Richmond, Hanoi Hannah is serving modern Vietnamese food in a fun & fantastic venue.
Think big flavors bring fresh new flavors to some of your favorite dishes.
The roast pork hock rice paper rolls were next level good.

After seeing the ‘new quarter’ appear on Swan St Richmond and look so inviting, we had to try it! Having never eaten at a Hanoi Hannah before, we chose the feed me menu. Our favourite dishes were the lemongrass beef rice paper rolls and the beautifully fresh & fragrant chicken salad. While the feed me menu was a good way to go, we were a little overwhelmed by all the chicken dishes (we had 4!).
Overall, we really enjoyed Hanoi Hannah. A fun, modern take on classic Vietnamese flavours in a vibrant setting with lovely service.

Good option for a casual dinner in Richmond with a cool vibe. Staff were friendly and menu had a range of options to suit most tastes. Looking for a light meal I went for the salt and pepper calamari from the small plates section and the Chinese broccoli from the side dishes. The calamari was well seasoned and very crispy. The broccoli was standard but still tasty.
Quince And Cheese
Hanoi Hannah's venue in Richmond is a variation on the other locations. Their dishes are fresh and flavourful twists on classic Vietnamese dishes. The service was truly incredible on my most recent visit. Staff couldn't have been more friendly nor attentive. I tried some awesome vegan and vegetarian dishes including the betel leaf starter (the flavour is slightly overpowered by pomelo but otherwise great), the papaya salad (no complaints), the veg curry (portion size could be larger but flavour and ingredients are perfect) and morning glory leaves (the best dish I tried by far). A Chinese donut is a must for mopping it all up with. Drinks were good and free flowing thanks to the venue's new boozy brunch option. Deserts were a great ending to a great meal - especially the soft, delicate but very caffeine-filled Vietnamese twist on a tiramisu. I'm still dreaming about it.

Went here and ordered a few different meals and drinks and was blown away. The food was amazing! Had some pho, calamari (which was some of the best I’ve ever had) and some pork belly (another amazing dish). They have an extensive cocktail list as well that was amazing. Shout out to our waitress Zoe, who went above and beyond in giving us amazing service. Truly blown away.
Eatingmakesmehappy
Ordered a rare beef pho on Deliveroo. Fast and fresh, however the beef slices were bad. Too hard to chew. The broth was bland lack of flavor. Veggies were just right as pho at other places. Yeah maybe it was my fault to order soup noodles things via food delivery service as they never taste the same as dine-in at the restaurant. Not sure will order from this place again. Not worth the price anyway.

THE LA BEEF RIBS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Do it, get them!
Wasn’t expecting to go out for dinner tonight but decided to venture in to Hanoi Hannah in Richmond. Obviously the beef ribs are amazing, melted in my mouth, was devoured in seconds! The pork spring rolls were tasty - a little bit more flavour in the dipping sauce would have made them perfect. Soft shell crab salad and china town fried rice were a weird combination to have together but they were both delicious. All in all not much to fault with our food. Service and atmosphere were great too. Can’t wait to come back!

Tuesday evening at 5pm the 2 of us popped in - large space with only 1 table occupied. By 6 pm the place was packed. Noise level high. Competing with similar establishments all over town now, the pan-Asian melange has become somewhat of a cliche. Having said that, HHNQ is pretty good. Snappy service with generous serves of accomplished Asian fare. Fresh salads with minty/basil/coconut/chicken lightly dressed. BBQ beef ribs with side of lime and chilli. Pork belly with good crunchy skin on vermicelli noodle wrap and great mint dressing. Lost a point for the no tea or coffee (which is almost un-Australian). But no matter. HHNQ a tidy place to pop in on way home from work. (I’d give it 3 1/2 stars but the app doesn’t do fractions)

This new Hanoi Hannah is hip and felt more like a restaurant as opposed to fast food place. The dishes are still priced reasonably and of great value. The pho cuon and the spring rolls are awesome. The beef ribs came off the bone easily and juicy. The chicken which is their "essential" dish was a little disappointing. It was pretty bland.
Alice In Wonderland X Icebear
We ordered a rare beef pho and a mushroom pho through Uber eats and the order came super fast. The beef pho was pretty good, the broth tasted a lot more westernised rather than the traditional pho I’m used to but it was very filling, with quality beef slices and would eat it again if there was no other pho places open late for delivery. The mushroom pho on the other hand, icebear ended up leaving uneaten as the veggie broth tasted like straight up salt water which was disappointing because it looked amazing. It may have just been our palates that it didn’t suit. I might go to the actual restaurant and try the carnivorous dishes but for icebear, he reckons he’s going to give the vegetarian meals a hard pass.

You can get good food anywhere in Melbourne. The food here was really nice but the service was terrible. Got seated 25 minutes after our booking, waited too long to get served some drinks, had to ask for plates twice, had to remind the staff to bring our dessert and was made to feel like we were hassle. Super disappointing as it’s a great spot to eat and as I said the food was great. Not sure whether or not to give it another go....

At times service is a factor only when it is exceptional or terrible. It is not absurd for it just not to be noticed, like children in the 50s. Service should be seen and not heard!

There are times where it can blow your mind. Times where you want to return because that compliment you received had to be genuine, or the charm of the maître’d was irresistible. Then there are the stories that you must tell even if it is focussing a touch too much on the negative, like when you witness a terrible car accident.

I’ll tell you about the car accident soon but first let’s look at the positives. Hanoi Hannah’s New Quarter in Richmond is irresistible like the figurative maitre’d I mentioned just moments ago. It is literally the old and the new for both HH and this building which retains its character, but is completely redeveloped on the corner of Lennox and Swan. The positioning is a real estate agent’s dream. Location, Location, Location!

Busy restaurant, full of young hipsters - expect at least 20 minutes waiting time for a table on a Friday night. Food packed a punch, lovely fresh herbs with every dish. Recommend the Pho Cuon (the specialty dish) and the Hanoi-style spring roll filled withwood ear mushroom.

The softshell crab with green mango lacked any green mango - it was substituted mostly with green apple. The crab itself was not as crispy as I would have liked. Not a dish that I would be ordering in the future.

Overall service was good. Although the restaurant was packed, food came out at a pretty good pace.

4.5/5
Just opened but already busy place and I can see why. Food all seemed very fresh and was very tasty. The kingfish was really nice, calamari very nice as well. Lemongrass chicken first class and the standout was the LA style beef rib, amazing!! The pork hock main was tasty but a bit messy and not worth the effort, friendly and speedy service! Will be back.

Great fit out of this new venue, sadly some things let it down on this occasion. We were seated quickly and our initial waiter was attentive but things turned sour from there. Some dishes were forgotten or slow and trying to get the attention of wait staff was near impossible at times. The selection of food we did get to try was quite nice and a saving grace. The chicken (main) was cooked well and the pork belly (entree) was small but tasty. Somehow the spring rolls arrived an hour into the meal. Sadly only the rice paper arrived instead of the the pork hock after 30 mins waiting we were told it had somehow been hijacked on its way from the kitchen to our table?! The pineapple lychee coconut mock tails were yum. Perhaps it was just a busy Saturday night or maybe they’re still finding their groove.. I dunno but I hope they do!

Dined at the new Hanoi hannah for dinner last night with friends. Staff are very friendly and give good service. The food came out so quickly! Favourite dish was our starter as recommended by our waiter the pho cuon.

Great location on swan st. Would recommend for lunch rather than dinner. Very noisy with tables close to one another. Attentive staff. Good selection of veg options.

We came here after a footy game and had to wait approximately 15 minutes for a table. But boy, was it worth the wait! The layout and ambiance of the place was ultra modern and the staff were all attentive and friendly.

We ordered the Peking Duck rice paper rolls & pork spring rolls for entree and the Lemongrass Chicken and Spicy Lamb Curry for main. The food was clean, fresh and all round tasty. Compared to a lot of places where we have had similar food, Hanoi Hannah takes the cake when it comes to a flavorsome vermicelli dish (lemongrass chicken)!

Exciting menu of modern Vietnamese. Good vibe.

We ordered: Pho Cuon, Crispy Pork Belly (loved it), Lemongrass Ginger Rice Paper Rolls, Poached Chicken Pho (quite nice), Short Rib Beef Pho, Chinatown Fried Rice (loved it but portion was tiny), Sticky Chicken Wings.

Food was enjoyable but didn’t feel like we got value for money. Portions too small to share & too pricy.

For a place that is newly opened, I was very impressed. The vibes and service were great. Food was phenomenal. Highly recommend the pho cuon and bbq chicken.

We came to Hanoi Hannah on a Saturday evening a bit before 6 and it was already 80% packed - we were lucky to get a table and by 6.30 there was a line at the door! We understood why it was so busy - a mixture of traditional and modernized Vietnamese dishes were served. We had the pho coun which had noodles wrapped with lemongrass beef (a must have)! We had the sticky wings with maple siracha marinade (also a must have), a papaya salad which needed a little more flavour. And the pork hock with a rice paper roll kit. The pork hock itself was cooked well however we thought it lacked seasoning and we wished there was noodles to go with the meal to represent a traditional rice paper roll. We also had the fresh coconut and pineapple with lychee slushie which matched very well with our dishes! Overall it was yummy and we loved the concept for making your own rice paper rolls!

I was very excited to try out this new restaurant in swan street, however, food was very disappointing. It’s at a good location, staffs were friendly. Food was bad, we ordered rice paper rolls and they were very average, both salads were terrible and overpriced, they put a lot of mints and coriander which made the flavour way too much strong and I really don’t know if I actually ordered mint salad. Definitely won’t go back again.

The third Hanoi Hannah has arrived in Richmond and they’re serving up mouthwatering Vietnamese food as usual. They have some new stuff on the menu and it really hits the mark. They have a large open space and like other stores have a little express bar on the side so you can eat or pick up a quick meal next door. At Hanoi Hannah’s New Quarter there’s lots of delicious hawker style Vietnamese food to be had and you’ll leave there with a smile from ear to ear.
Gastrology
The legends at Commune hospitality group have just added a Swan Street Richmond joint to their plethora of thriving restaurants. This Hanoi Hannah newbie is a stunner – slick fit out alongside a delicious Vietnamese street food inspired menu including dishes you won’t find anywhere else like the chả cá - a Hanoi inspired turmeric and dill fish which diners cook at the tables. On the drinks front expect a succinct but good wine and beer list as well as cocktails which play on the Vietnamese theme.
