Review Hellas Cakes - Richmond

Uthpala Koralegedara
Great find in Richmond for brunch and cakes. Affordable. Lovely staff. Plenty of seating. Can improve on brunch variety though. 4.5 stars ☺️

I came in rushed to organise catering for a meeting in about 2 hours. I needed to organise coffee, cakes, drinks and sandwiches. Amy and her team made it look easy. Took the stress away, asked the right questions and even walked it 500m down the road at two different times. First the coffee order and then lunch. The bonus is food is fresh, healthy and the deserts are amazing. Try the baclava! This is a palace with right combination of service and food. Love it!

Not bad but not great. The coffee is too weak for my liking and the hazelnut slice is reminiscent of something you would get in Ikea. That's not a bad thing necessarily, Ikea desserts hit the spot when you need a sugar fix.

Having heard the news of its closure of this institution is an absolute devastation. I remember the initial owner when I was a child selling papers from the local paper shop on Swan Street and I would sell to him the Greek newspaper. He loved his Greek Easter which was celebrated annually and with pride. This will be severely missed and be fond memories. Θα μας λείψεις.

This was the first time ever. A huge variety. Staff was quite friendly.

Best chocolate baklava I've ever eaten for one. Secondly, the staff were so friendly and accomodating. Finally, all the items we ordered off the menu, trust me we ordered a lot, were all awesome!! Loved it, will be back, again, and again.

I love this cafe. It's history makes the operation even more memorable. The cafe is the former family home. A considered reno opened it up to the excellent eatery it is today. The big marble benches in the kitchen are a sight to behold when full of food. In my Melbourne top 10 eateries

Not a bad spot for a coffee, hidden away just enough that you aren't fighting for a table

A perfect combination of a cute shop with old school charm, as it's been in Richmond since the 50s, & an exceptional cake/bakery & equally wonderful dishes for breakfast/brunch or lunch. The coffees were good & strong but my favourite was the traditional, delicious 'galaktoboureko' which left me buying more to take home! Well done Hellas cakes, I've been a customer for 20 years, getting cakes for special occasions, and love what you've transformed into!

Beautiful food, excellent service... definitely recommend giving them a try A+

Fantastic cakes, biscuits and lunches too!!! Soups looked amazing. Don't forget to make an excuse to go to the bathroom so you can view the kitchen at work!
Tayab Mahmood
Authentic Greek Bakery and coffee shop. Perfect in all categories!

Have been here quite a bit over the years. Good coffee and delicious sweets baked on site, happy friendly staff that made my day!
The Casual Diner
Parked in this pleasant little cafe to do some work and had one of their cakes (could not recall the exact name) and a coffee. The cake was not too sweet, filled with fresh cream and was delicious. And the coffee was good. The selection of Greek cakes was good too and I certainly will be back to try out some of the other options on offer. Service was warm and friendly and you can understand why there’s a line for the coffee.

Midweek lunch. After a quick Zomato search we were directed around the corner to Hellas Cakes. The high rating is spot on. Coffee was great, staff were wonderful and gave us some extra time to decide while I tended to bubs.
I was super impressed with my lamb panini. It was sweet, fresh, salty, generous & just overall YUM!
There is a bathroom but it’s through the kitchen. Good opportunity to get a sneak peek of out the back, meet the staff and look at the vast amounts of baked goods cooling on trays. They even had a change table & highchairs hiding out the back. Lifesavers!! Thanks for an awesome lunch.

A wonderful brunch place on Lennox St - conveniently located near Richmond station. My friend and I visited around 11am on a Saturday - it was busy at this hour but they still had a few tables available. The atmosphere is cosy, the staff are friendly and proactive, and the food is delicious. I loved the salmon & avocado - the portion was very generous, the poached eggs were well done, the avocado was fresh, the smoked salmon was well balanced by the spinach and light dressing. My friend had the buttermilk pancakes which was vibrantly plated up - no complaints from her end either! Would recommend this cafe to anyone looking for a bite near Richmond station, and would love to return and try out some of their cakes/sweets on display in the cabinet, in addition to some other brekky/lunch items on their diverse menu!

Was pretty moderate overall although one thing did stand out to me. THE HASHBROWN WAS AMAZING, was so so delicious, most likely the best one I’ve tasted yet. The environment is very soothing, dog friendly and a very nice neighbourhood. One down side was the coffee and the chai latte was not the great. The coffee tasted burnt and the chai latte was very bland. 1 teaspoon of sugar did the trick though.

Had brunch nearby and spotted this cake shop on the way back to the car. Of course we had to go in! They have a selection of Greek sweets which looked delicious but we opted for a caramel slice, and brownie and a red velvet cake. The caramel slice had loads of caramel which was nice and the base was nice and buttery. The brownie had big chunks of chocolate and had a good rich flavour. The red velvet cake was also nice. I’ll be back!

REVIEW FROM MID MARCH 2018
************************************
5 STARS: It is by far one of the best cafes in Melbourne, which serves beautiful, smooth Almond Latte's the finest cakes and Spanakopitas that are full of flavor.

The moment you enter, its as if you are entering a world where having a risk of diabetes goes out the window. I have tasted many of the cakes, and each and every one of them isnt too sugary.

The Homemade Spanakopita sign outside first interested me to enter and Im so glad I saw it.
When I ordered it, I told the lady serving "you have so many cake signs outside, so I will order a cake with the Spanakopita and the coffee".

They all looked amazingly rich, and as I was working, I didnt want something to heavy.
I selected a pie type thing and she told me it was a Lime Tart. I lit up in joy.

My review -
*Amazing spanakopita. So fresh, but a tad oily - tasted sooo good thou.
*Their lime tart - wow!! So refreshing. Biscuit tart was so soft and yet crunchy. Perfectly round. Very easy to eat and enjoy.

If you are wondering what to eat other than Cakes, for example something savory, they do cool soups. Not boring tomato or pumpkin....or worse Sweet Corn soups you find for a $1 here and there.

UPDATE ON LATEST VISIT: SAT16JUN2018
*********************************************
5 STARS: Reordered the beautifully made Spanakopita.
Ordered a Almond Latte with 2 Sugars.
And a Recommended Dessert. Sorry forgot the name of it, but it was a Custard Tart with glazed fruit on top. To be precise, it was mandarin and strawberry.

Honestly, once again their service, food, cakes and drinks are impeccable. The coffee was smooth, froth was thick, even with 2 sugars I could barely taste the sugar but could taste the sweetness. Most coffees....I taste the grains of sugar....especially down the bottom.
Very hard to find Cafes that make that perfect coffee.

The Mandarin and Strawberry Tart....despite her recommendation.. I collapse from eating Custard within minutes generally.....but Im fine. The Dessert wasnt overly sweet, and based on two desserts Ive had.....Im curious if all the desserts are not loaded with sugar. The coffee and the dessert I had was well balanced.

I definitely will be back for a third round.

UPDATE ON LATEST VISIT: 25TH AUG 2018
**********************************************
4 STARS: After possibly going there around 20 times, I went in and ordered my lunch before work. I sat by myself and patiently waited for my meal while having an Almond Latte.

The lunch I got was 2 poached eggs on toast with Asparagus. I love poached eggs, IF made correctly. The dish looked beautiful, but once I cut the yolk nicely on top, the egg yolk didnt ooze out slowly....

The egg yolk was so watery and uncooked that even the white part of the egg also covered my entire meal. The point of a poached egg is to have it semi cooked on the inside.

I was greatly disturbed by this, but didnt want to make a scene so I ate whatever wasnt touched by the uncooked egg. I got up and walked out.

This didnt stop me from going there for a 'coffee', 'cake' or 'spanakopita'.

UPDATE 2019
**************
A short time ago, I went in and got a Coffee and a couple of desserts that they have updated. Open minded, but I will never order them again.
Im going to leave it at that.

This week, and over next week I will be going in with multiple people for lunch so we can finally taste EVERYTHING......

This cafe is different in that it’s less about the decoration and presentation, but more about the food itself which is absolutely delicious! Coffee is awesome too! Further the place is cosy, but at the same time bright with big windows at the front. Will certainly return!
Sarah
I had heard so many great things about Hellas and it definitely lived up to the hype! The fritter was huuuge and had the perfect amount of accompaniments to balance the flavours.
Lisa Giles
My bf and I came here for breakfast, and easily got a table on a Saturday. We both ordered a coffee and I ordered the corn fritters with a side of bacon. The coffee wasn’t my favorite, the taste wasn’t quite as full bodied as I like and my bf also said that it lacked flavour. The corn fritters themselves were delicious and soft, paired perfectly with avo and cherry tomatoes. But the bacon wasn’t as crispy as I was hoping, which is personal preference I suppose. Overall not my favorite place, purely because I wouldn’t rush back for the coffee.

Cakes from Hellas; as suited to their name, "Bloody Hell Delicious".

It's already been thrice and Would we Want More? Hell Yeah!

Go for it Zomatians...wont regret it.

Sunday 19th November 2017 at 1pm.
I had been really looking forward to our visit here, however was under whelmed by the visit.
The menu lacked excitement.
The corn fritters were quiet plain.
The bacon 🥓 and egg 🍳 sandwich was dry.
The flat white coffee was substandard.
The espresso was reasonable.
Love this guys! Super nice staff and great food. If you are looking for a good place to eat some sweats and tea with your girlfriends thats your place.
Kady
Surprised with the high rating. The place was full so we decided to get some take away.
I tried the cheese pits, it was very sweet, as if they used the wrong pastry. Even though it was a very small portion, I couldn't finish it due to the sweetness.
The cake was not that great either, the pastry wasn't crunchy at all.

Unfortunately for us it did not hit the mark.

I must add that the staff were great especially the lady who served us.

Great local brunch place with consistent brekkie and lunch. Great coffee and always exceptional service. Typically like to walk here with visitors because it's always good and pleasant service.

Went down to Richmond this morning for breakfast. We saw the Hellas Cakes quite busy and cute so we thought this is must be a good place to have our breakfast. My bf ordered the Hangover breakfast, he said the bacon was tasty and overall a big serving, and it's bit over priced. I ordered the daily special which was 3 cheese with potato & bacon cake and poached eggs with sourdough. I would say it's tastes quite good, but I would not order it again as it was yummy but not delicious.

I love this place. I came here for a lunch yesterday and was tantalized by the menu, as was my boyfriend. We were greeted by the lovely staff who were amazing all around and I loved the atmosphere and decor. We were sat inside with water and menus being asked if we wanted any drinks, which is always nice when you have a coffee order you desire. I ordered the halloumi salad and a kale juice, and my boyfriend the chicken sandwich with a pot of English breakfast tea and skinny milk. The lovely waitress informed me they were out of the juice and was so lovely about it I was more than happy to have another juice, the carrot and turmeric which was delicious. My salad came out first and was delicious and I would recommend it. My boyfriend received his tea, he is obsessed with tea and praised the brand as well as the pot and tea cup, and was told his sandwich would be another 5 minutes which was very politely told to us so we didn't mind at all. Not even 5 minutes later he got his sandwich and enjoyed it, it has a generous amount of meat which is rare I've found. We finished with a little sweet each, he a Turkish delight and I got a baklava. My boyfriend said it was the best Turkish delight he's ever had and the baklava was delicious, most definitely my favourite I've had too. I will be coming back here.

Great little spot in Richmond, the trio of breakfast sliders is a good concept, you get three little burgers, salmon, bacon and mushroom, which all have very different flavours, perfect when you can't decide. On the recommendation of the waitress, we ordered the corn fritters. A dish you should try, one thick, fluffy corn fritter with pickled cabbage, avocado, tomatoes, perfectly poached eggs. A very generous and balanced dish!
IsFoodIsGood
I thought Hellas Cakes only did coffee and baklava type cakes - I had no idea they had a full breakfast menu!
I ordered the salmon and eggs dish from the menu and it was hefty. So filling and generous that I could not finish. It was tasty and had just the right mix in flavours.
I will be back to try more items from the menu.
May I suggest you change your name - your food shouldn't be kept a secret!
Simon
Perfect spot for lunch for the undecided - massive menu so plenty of options and most of it is damn good. Highlights are definitely the veggie burger, chicken/avocado/cheese/ toasted sandwich or spanakopita, or turkey/brie salad. Greek cakes are legit and made on site and coffee is solid too, plus super friendly staff.

Came for a coffee in the morning due to the reviews and was very disappointed. Long wait, expensive, and the coffee was lukewarm and flavourless. Can't say about the food but coffee is a miss.
StepiiGM
Best potato cakes ever! Loving the spices/herbs in there, it's not like any other potato cakes which are mostly plain. The rest of the experience was pretty standard - creamy scrambled eggs, cute ambience, friendly service. The place was not overly crowded/noisy, and table size was comfortable. Good spot to catch up with friends.
Rebecca R
Came here for breaky and it was quite busy. Loved my corn fritters - definitely would order again. I also had a fresh OJ which was nice but not sure if juiced on site or not. Coffee is good too
The Whippeteers
$5.00.

Across the road from CHEERIOS at HELLAS Cakes Café, THE MOOD instantly shifts. American salesman with Oriental counterpart having a business meeting over breakfast. The American is confident, does most of the talking, voice booming. Oh, now he's on the phone! No talking? Now he's on the laptop. PEACE.

The Café is calm, CLEAN, with a STEADY stream of customers.

The Latte was SMOOTH as a Whippets tummy. Fabulous. Complex? Maybe not so much. But great nonetheless.

Ps this Whip closed the FRONT DOOR about 10 times, make that 15 now, 20+ (no exaggeration) as the door stopper don't close properly. THE staff keep coming to close, BUT WE GOT IT! Too funny. The favourite thing about our visit today.

NOW we're closing the door without realising it! TIME TO GO! 😲☕😲

Pps walked out, left door open (absent mindedly) and the staff closed it within 3 seconds.

Hella's cakes is one of my favorite places in my neighbourhood. I live about a twenty minute walk away from here, surrounded by some of the best brunch places in Melbourne, but I still come here regularly. The food is always great, and unlike a lot of brunch spots you won't find anything too fancy or decorated with edible flowers but that's what makes it great. Just simple, hearty dishes. Hella's is also cheaper than richmond standards. Who doesn't love a great lunch under $15 in this area! There are no crowds queuing outside and it's easy to find a table. I love their spicy chicken soup and the reuben on pumpkin loaf. So delicious. I have tried the greek desserts and they were okay. I should mention that i tend to prefer lebanese/turkish versions of those so if you are like me you may not like the honey soaked baklavas here. Other than that, highly recommended!

Baklava edit: I found what is wrong with them. They lack the CRUNCH. The sheets of pastry are chewy, almost elastic. Not good hellas, but thanks for feeding me your chicken soup again. I love you
Creative.anarchy.malcolm
Really good breakfast stop. Poached eggs were perfect, bacon subtly smoked, orange juice, delicious and coffee was spot on.

Make sure you beat the crowds though. Recommend a late breakfast or early lunch.
Tamawera Owens
Best cafe in town, highly recommended.place is always full so get in early. I suggest getting the corn fritters x 2. Can't beat it 👊🏾. That guy veesh is a magician. Watch out for that guy Daniel, slickest chef around.

Hellas Cakes was quiet on a Saturday afternoon so we decided to leave our queue at a nearby cafe and come here instead. Our food was overall good. The corn fritters would have been one of the nicest I've had in Melbourne if not for the over-poached eggs! There were a lot of lovely fresh flavours. Such a shame about the eggs, but they really ruin a brunch dish! The portions were all really big for the prices - the baked eggs in particular were almost too much to finish. We took a slice of cake and a small baklava away. Both were only average but I had expected amazing things from their sweets.
Mrs Mark
Authentic Greek cafe and bakery. The cakes here are great. The savoury items aren't bad either. The spanakopita we ordered had some egg shell in it but I guess that adds to the experience. The pulled lamb sandwich was very tasty.
Darren Borg
Mmm Greek. This place has a super relaxed vibe with friendly staff and super yum baked goods. The coffee is pretty good as well. Been here a few times and always end up leaving with some biscuits.
Timinmelbourne
Been here before but I went again today. I had 2 different biscuits and both of them were delicious. Mmnn yummmm hahaha
They also sell a good range of sweet Greek pastries. Its not hard to see why this place has been here since 1962! Definitely worth a visit.
Matea
The hot chocolate was delicious, perfectly fluffy and nice and creamy!
It probably could have been a bit sweeter but despite that it was really good!😃
This place is fantastic! My friend and I wandered up Lennox Street and this was the first place we came to. A quick glance at the menu confirmed we’d be able to find something decent. We sat outside which was lovely, with plenty of shade. I ordered the pulled pork and my friend the ham and tomato toastie. Both were delicious, though the pulled pork was the star of the show (is it ever not?!). This place is exceptionally well priced, with the pork coming in at $10, and I’m sure the toastie was less. I’m coming back in a few weeks with some friends, and can’t wait to check out the rest of the menu!
TashaSpiesFood
Came here and got the slow roasted lamb panini and afew sweets and it was delicious! It triggered every tastebud on my tongue!
The coffees are nice and the sweets are just right, not too pricey and not too sweet :)
One other thing that I like about this place is you have to go through the kitchen to go to the restrooms.
This allows people to get an idea of where their food is coming from, something that a lot of cafe/restaurants are afraid to show.
The kitchen was clean and the workers were switched on.
The service was on point too so I recommend this little cafe joint to anyone :)!

Best Vego big breakfast Melbs. Now I'm not a vegetarian and actually love bacon but I love this veggie breakfast for those mornings after a big day of food and wine. Hellas cakes version is creative without the hipster element. The beetroot relish awakens and detoxifies the tastebuds, the avo mash feels like the cleanser and the poached eggs brings some richness to add to the 3 cheese, pea and spinach pie (which looks like a frittata).
Now on to the cakes- yummmmmy! Love the salted caramel slice. It's great to share later at home for afternoon tea with a pot of tea. Thank you Hellas Cakes for being so close to my house. The only thing stopping this being a 4.5 for me, is the coffee, whilst is ok it's not consistently good. I've had weak, then strong in the same sitting and requesting the same order.
Jo Jo
We came here for breakfast today, ordered our usual cappuccino and coffee with blueberry pancakes.

The coffee was hot and strong; a bit too bitter we thought.

The serve of pancakes was generous, well served with greek yogurt and poached pear. The pancakes with the syrup was not too sweet. Perhaps one less pancake would be just the right size of a serve!
Emma
Cute, charming and inventive little place with great quality food that feels like it's cooked by a loving grandma. Excellent coffee too and nice decor. Why, I'd come here often if I lived in the area - also, free wifi!
Emma Davidson
Great cafe. We order our lunch here most work days, so I've tried nearly everything and it's all great, consistently fabulous. Staff are super friendly and the atmosphere in store in warm and inviting. Big thumbs up!
Will Lacy
Awesome spot for breakfast or lunch.
This place has long been a staple of ours as its so close to our home. Tried a number of things off the menu and can't really fault any of it, all very tasty. I would strongly suggest the grilled chicken sandwich, simple and quick sort of lunch but it's just so good.
Place can get a little busy but the staff do there best and manage the high flow traffic well!
Tardar Sauce
Cute little cafe, was strong coffee a double shot?. Friendly quirky staff, yummy looking Greek biscuits in the windows. Saw some brekkie meals pass us as we waited in line for coffee - they looked delicious! My strong latte was a little on the weak side - not sure if they do 1.5 shots for a strong - like some other cafes in the city. I'll remember to ask next time for a double shot! :) Keen to go back and try the food.
Foodandwinefan
The Vegetarian Feast brekky was delish, Brekky Tacos were a bit bland tho. Staff were great, will be back!
Coburg Dweller
Good food & service. Really like the food and coffee here. Service is friendly and efficient. It's not cheap, but consider it appropriately priced.
Minaa
Great cakes. We use Hellas cakes as our supplier at our cafe in Bentleigh and have nothing but compliments on how beautiful and tasty their cakes are. Thank you for your great service and delicious cakes!
Normanclaude53
Love this place. The food is always excellent, fresh and very well presented.
The service is impeccable, the girls are always friendly and have a quick chat regardless of the pumping business at lunch time. Chicken soup special throughout winter is a winner and their chai is actually prepared with real tea leaves not the sugary syrup.
Never disappointed at Hellas!
Warlockofsandfields
Terrible. Where do I start, this place is horribly overpriced and the staff are very rude. Had to ask waitress to remove bacon due to my cultural beliefs and was told meals can't be adjusted during breakfast rush. Decided to order a roll and it was brought out on a dirty bread chopping board instead of a plate and it was drowned in foul smelling sauce. Was told I had to pay extra to get served on a plate. Staff were very rude when I complained and weren't listening to reason. They didnt seem to care about customer service and were very unintelligent.
Naomi
Delicious! Great coffee, good cake and service with a smile
Wet Willie
Great family run business that is one of the highlights of the Swan Street area. Fab staff serving great coffee and amazing Greek cakes and pastries. The breakfasts are interesting and consistent - you will be back for many visits!!
Madeleine.dickson5
Great place!. Went here for brunch on a busy public holiday. Place was full but they were very accommodating and brought out an extra table and chairs for us to eat outside. Food was amazing, I ordered the vegetarian feast and it was delicious and came out quickly. Very reasonably priced and the service was great. Would definitely recommend this place and will be going back!
Kat
Great! Not very often that you go out with a group and everyone is impressed with what they received! All coffees were lovely & all the breakfasts were filling, very tasty & beautifully presented. A lovely way to end a long weekend in the city, thanks Hellas Cakes.
Lola
AHHH-MAZING!. This place is the bomb! I always come here and the food never disappoints. I love that it hasn't gotten all trendy and silly like some other joints across the road. Try the smoked salmon feast, it is definitely a feast and you will not be disappointed.
Gash
Nice find. Lovely friendly staff, coffee good, food is fresh and fair priced.
Fyshmask
Richmond No.1. Never disappoints. I would go as far to say they serve the best coffee in Richmond too!! The staff are wonderful and really make eating at Hellas an enjoyable experience. Cannot recommend this place more highly.
Vincent
Yummo!. I love this place! The food is fresh, service is fast and always with a smile.

I love both the breakfast and lunch menu with the breakfast Tacos and the pulled pork sandwich being my favourite (I have been told the new pulled lamb sandwich is to die for!)

And what meal isn't complete with a coffee and a little sweet treat! The coffee is brewed perfectly and I can't go past the almond macaroons!

Great transformation and something everyone must try but make sure you get there early as they fill up fast!
Cg
CUTE. Cute little place. had a light lunch here, very fresh ingredients. want to come back for cakes!
CHICKY
Love the renovations .... Breakfast was so YUMMY me and hubby were so impressed - it was worth the drive from Bundoora to have breakfast and their great GALAKTOBOURIKO (custard slice) simply the best!!
Danny
Had one of the best sandwiches I've ever had here. Great service and the cakes look amazing. Do your self a favour.
Constance
A must..! Come and try the best choc baklava ever !!.. Breakfast is awesome and filling and the coffee is a local favourite..all i can say is you have to come down and experience the history..you can almost sense the old bakers in the background..please consider.
Foodietuesday
Hellas semolina custard slice. I have lived in Richmond for many ears and never eaten here. So imagine my surprise when I ordered my favourite take away - Spanokopita. It's said that Melissa's has the best spanokopita. That is probably the case. I liked the spinach & cheese version here at Hellas. The owners should set about to make it the best in Melbourne as the shop is delightful with its Tolix chairs and thoughtful, clean and airy renovation. Customers could be in Melbourne, New York or any other cosmopolitan city with the cooks just behind some swing doors. Fabulous old world vibe with funky furniture and creative hessian sacks as cushions behind the bifold open windows. My favourite though was the semonlina custard slice. If you don't like the syrup with with this filo pastry delectable, there is a baked version that has no syrup I've forgotten the Greek word (begata?) I agree with an earlier reviewer, the girl behind the counter is delighful and pointed me to the other version of baked custard slice without the syrup. She was very friendly and I love saying hello when I go back for my current addiction to the semolina custard slice. My only suggestion is to offer a version with yoghurt spread between the filo pastry layers as it would be a good counter to the oil which can sometimes be a bit heavy. Well done Hellas for keeping an old tradition from the 1960s relevant today. Five out of five. I heart you Hellas for reinventing a tradition that lives on while fly-by-night cafes have no idea of tradition and history.
Kiki
Keep to the Tradition. I had a cannoli pastry here. It was soggy and the filling was dried out. It's kinda my own fault for selecting an Italian cannoli in a Greek bakery. Apart from that, the coffee was good, the bakery was cute and my bf did gat some great crispy bacon. If there's a next time I will stick to the Greek cakes!
Jay
Great breakfast had the ploughmans filled me up nicely and had a delicious latte what a gem in richmond will return
Olympiakara_mou
Hellas Cakes. The rennovations are great.
Breakie was nice
The cake I had was nice however, I have tasted much better .
The only thing I didn't like was the gossip and backstabbing that went on they assumed I didn't know the person they where on about but I did and this will only deter people from dining there.
I came to eat not to gossip about others . I will think about stepping foot there again.
Riccardo Armillei
I love their cakes!!!. I found their cakes extremely good! Definitely one of my favourite places!! The environment and atmosphere are really nice and the service is very good. You might wait a bit to be served sometimes (I saw a couple of people got stressed because they were in a hurry, but it's not anyone fault if all at once the place is crowdy and they have to cope with anyone's wishes! Just relax, life is already difficult, once you'll enjoy their cakes you'll feel much better!!) but once you'll eat those delicious cakes you'll be in heaven!!
Charlie Balisong
Quality.... Looks new but is over 50 years old. Stopped in for a perfect soy latte and was surprised by the fantastic breakfast of poached eggs on top of two thick pancakes with beetroot and avocado smash on the side. Friend's blueberry pancakes were full of fruit and also amazing.
Great unpretentious place with cabinets full of authentic, made on the premises Greek cakes and sweets.
Staff are also friendly and welcoming.
AreDee
I love this place!! The most perfectly presented breakfast cooked to perfection, great coffee, and staff that are happy and friendly. The displays of Greek cakes and treats look amazing, I can't wait to go back and try something sweet!!
Vish27
Good food, coffee and sweets
Would like to come back
Ryan
What a fantastic change to an old classic! Went here recently to try the new cafe as recommended by a friend and was completely blown away. Not only have the owners revamped the place, they have now added a breakfast menu to their already existing array of traditional Greek cakes. I tried the megalo breakfast (big breakfast) and my partner tried the Trojan sweet toast (French toast), both meals were well presented and cooked to perfection. Very happy with our coffees and meals and will definitely be back.
