Review Richmond Club Hotel - Richmond

George Slavchev
The RCH is a frequent hangout for myself and colleagues as it’s one of the nicest venues close to the office! The service is always on-point and their meals are of generous size and good value for money! Tuesdays are Parma Days for $20 and Wednesdays are Steak Days for $24 (incl. beer or wine). They also offer a Sunday Roast, but I haven’t been to that. If you’re in the area, you should definitely pop over for lunch and, in the summer, they’d back garden is a vibe!

We enjoyed the beer happy hour prices and a meal. The meals were a good size and quality most mains were around the 25$ mark. Multiple levels with bars and a big out doors area on the ground floor and balconys on each level. Staff were helpful and outgoing. Views of the city. would go again

Good vibe and great beers on tap. Vibes are immaculate and staff are friendly. On a sunny day, there’s an outdoor area which is amazing if you are tryna catch them good vibes. Great location as well if you’re hoping to hop around to different bars and pubs.
Erin Harley
Three levels with a very nice rooftop. Nice range of tap beers and friendly staff. Good spot to go for a beer after work with friends or before the footy!
James Johnson
Cheese burger was ok. A little overpriced as it was a pretty small serving without many condiments. Happy hour with $8 pints was good value though.

bouncer was weird said we were drunk when we had 1 drink each max…. respectfully i think you need to reassess your bouncers :)) but also a gaggle of male post footy drunk men got let in i think they want only men in their precinct! do not attend this venue they will ruin your life
Ryan Pattison
Nice cozy pub with plenty of character.. lots of different seating options depending on what vibe you’re after. Didn’t have a chance to try the food but the staff were nice and the other patrons seemed like a nice bunch. Will be back
Danni Harris
Nice venue and atmosphere but we went on a Tuesday for parma night and when trying to order at only 6PM, got told they had run out of parmas. Then saw people who had ordered after us receive their parmas! Not sure what happened there but a bit disappointing.

Had some family in town for a sporting event in which I suggested this venue, what a mistake that was. The family was seated in the back booths in which there wasn't enough room for me to sit. Not a big deal as I was standing next to the table having a quick beer. The on duty manager very rudely told me to either sit down or leave... with that I finished my beer and left. Would not recommend this place to a dog.

Disgraceful service!! Ruined our night!! We were refused entry for a 8:30pm dinner booking because we walked past a group of people that were fighting, we took a detour to avoid the fight! Had a booking for 15, no one was intoxicated! The reasoning for not letting us in and the unreasonable staff is a reason I would never return or even recommend this place to anyone. An amazing local pub next door luckily were able to accommodate us for such a large group on short notice!

Had my birthday here and had the time of my life the food was amazing, the venue was beautiful and the customer service I received when I was organising my function was outstanding. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend RCH as from start to finish my experience was fantastic

I ordered the Moroccan lamb salad, was surprised when it came with 2 lamb skewers. I waited a couple of minutes until my friends got their meals, picked up a skewers and burnt 2 of my fingers and my thumb! It was searing hot metal and no warning from the waiter! Fortunately I had iced water so I used that to treat the burns. I told the waitress and apart from a sympathetic smile and acknowledgement that they were hot, she didn't do anything! Not happy, massive health and safety issue and lack of response from venue.

Disgraceful management style. No less than 30 minutes ago (at 5.15pm yes I am that sort of flog who checks the time) I was removed from a table for a "reservation", even though this was not communicated to us once in the 90 minutes we had been there, nor was there a reservation sign on the table. Reading the menu and noticing the tropical MESS as a dessert item I should have been forewarned. This venue is a subtropical mess and that's putting it lightly. After leaving the table there was nowhere to be seated and we were forced to leave the venue (we did get a refund for the meals we had ordered). Given the football is on there was no venue to eat at nearby. Atrocious venue and service, for a group of people that had been there for 90 minutes. The only positive to the whole experience was that one decent looking bird waltzed past the table and she didn't have a disgusting yellow and black scarf on. Update: I am now in a Thai restaurant eating (mediocre) dumplings with no football but at least no richmond supporters

After asking if we could get a hot whiskey this evening and being told that we could, we were pretty happy on such a chilly evening. The bar staff went to pour a jack daniels into our drink, I asked why it wasn't Jameson to which she replied, it's in now. She then tried to charge $15 each for mixing a JD with hot water, lemon and cloves...I asked if she was being serious. She rolled her eyes and said, fine $20 and snatched my card off me. She then bitched about us within earshot to the guy standing beside her at the till, obviously thinking we couldn't hear before slamming my card back to me without a word. It's no wonder this place has gone down hill when there is someone like this serving amongst a pretty attentive and otherwise polite team. Needless to say, we finished our drink and left.

The Richmond club has always been a favourite! I had my birthday there and wouldn't have changed anything, the food was fantastic, the staff was great and couldn't have had a better day. Would highly recommend.

Had an amazing celebratory meal at The Richmond Club Hotel. Food was absolutely terrific. My steak was cooked to perfection! Champagne and a yummy dessert. Highly recommended.

The Richmond Club Hotel Update Finally tested the waters last night by going to have a pre-rugby drink last night at The Richmond Club Hotel. The great news was that myself and my three friends felt very welcome and quite at home in the buzzing atmosphere. Security were very welcoming and even opened both doors for us when they saw we had a totally blind friend who was being led into the pub. A 100% improvement on my previous experience and we were much happier. One little thing that could help improve the experience even more would be some improved lighting. We walked down the side passage to the Outdoor bar at the rear of the pub and found it very dark in spots. In particular where there is a small step it is pretty much black. Even a fully sighted person could miss this step and trip so it might be worth reviewing. Anyway feeling much better about this pub and enjoyed the $6.00 Pint Happy Hour very much. Our next challenge will be to do post-game drink or a Saturday night foray! Cheers The Richmond Club Hotel Well Played! Once again refused entry to this hotel. With 2 mates, we must not have been cool enough or they didn't like the look of a few older blokes. We were even absolutely honest and up front to say we had 1 drink at the Post Office Hotel - a great place but they didn't have the television on. The pub security even were about to give us the go ahead when the almighty from afar shook his head in negativity which tragically left his minions standing there with nothing to say but "we can't let you in and we can't tell you why" I hope it wasn't because of our vision impaired mate and we who were with him didn't fit your required demographic. This is about the third time that I have been refused to this pub. Each time I have had vision impaired mates with me so there seems to be a trend developing. I understand some pubs want to retain a certain "clientele" but in a half empty pub at 9.00 for a couple of guys who wanted to watch the rugby sevens Australia game we were gutted. It a shame that image is more important to you than good customer relations and your attitude to not so cool people with a disability - and I am being a bit unfair to those people as they are the funniest and coolest people I hang out with because they don't judge like your security staff obviously do!! It may not seem like it but I am almost but not quite lost for words ( as you can see)!! I wonder if you will be happy to keep this on your page and brave enough to not block me on your page!! I will continue my night somewhere else and pay gratefully to the pub owner who is happy to accept our money which is in a decidedly more welcoming environment that carries no prejudices or delusions of its own "coolness " Rant over!!

Had a good time, food was reasonable and service was good. Disappointed there wasn’t dessert available for the booking. Will just have to come back again!

Always a great time at RCH - great music, great menu and great staff.
Margie Kabbani
Fantastic service, great staff!! Thank you to the manager for seating us next to the TV so we could watch our Crow boys smash Geelong. Great night! Thank you x
Peter Kirkup
Recently held a work function upstairs and it was amazing, from the management to the bar staff and kitchen the level of service was unreal and definitely will be recommending to family, friends and colleagues for an awesome place to have a feed, function or a few frothies with friends watching the footy
Jason Lont
Great mid-week venue for catching up with friends. Not too bad for an afternoon beer in the sun either!
Shani Timms
Just got punched by the bouncer there while waiting to get upstairs, what a joint! Highly recommend the wait... The staff make it worthwhile. Amazing service... Naht!!!

Great meal, music and atmosphere. Needed a quick bite before going to Hisense for dance sport chamionshiis . Perfect
Good Food Good Mood
Update <br/>Just noticed this seems to have deleted so reposting.<br/>We popped into the Richmond Club tonight for a nightcap which was probably not the best night for it given it was Oaks Day so it was fairly busy but we managed to find a nook for a quick drink. It’s quite a nice modern watering hole and the upstairs rooftop is awesome on a nice day. <br/><br/>Original review <br/>We came for grand final day which has amazing atmosphere but you need to get there pretty early to secure a decent spot (especially if you want to sit!) you’ll have a great time even if you’re not interested in the game as the pub style classic food is hard to beat

This is a cool looking pub full of different areas to perch yourself, including a great roof top bar. I’m a little disappointed in the food unfortunately as have been here before without any problems. A friend had to send back a chicken Parma as it just didn’t taste right (slightly off, re-heated?) and another friend’s eggplant parma was flavoursome but tiny and served alongside a mountain of French fries with nothing else, not even a lettuce leaf. However, my salmon was appetising with a delightful salsa verde. Mixed food aside, it’s in a great spot, has a lovely atmosphere and the prices are reasonable, with meal deals and happy hours on offer.

very enjoyable ambience, absolutely spiffy food, including the desserts 🤠 nice and cozy inside, didn’t have to endure the nippy cold air. snazzy service.

Some of the best bar food you’ll ever experience, accompanied by some sweet tunes on a Sunday. The interior is amazing too 😁 Thanks for an amazing Sunday session. ❤️

The Richmond Club Hotel is a venue I’ve visited on several occasions, whether it be for a bite to eat or a night out with friends. <br/>The food I’ve had here has always been great and I find the meal prices to be reasonable. <br/>The music they play in the ‘club’ part of the venue is great and I always enjoy a night of dancing here. I find the drinks prices to be reasonable too however I think $21 for an espresso martini is a bit expensive.

Pretty decor, friendly staff. Don’t see what is so difficult about swapping chips with mash, especially when it’s on the menu with a different steak. Even offered to pay extra. <br/>Didn’t stay around to see if the food tasted any good, went to a pub that will happily scoop a pile of mash on my plate.

First time I have check out this hotel/pub. It’s a really nice environment and they have a dining and bar area, and a rooftop. My friends and I all ordered the parmigiana, we ordered both the chicken and eggplant ones. The chicken parmigiana was nice but a little dry, it came with beer battered chips which were the best part of the dish. My friend who had the eggplant parmigiana was expecting more of an eggplant dish baked with tomatoes and cheese, but instead it was stuffed with breadcrumbs. We also had to wait quite a while for our dish, about 45 minutes which was disappointing since they weren’t exactly worth the wait. We also tried the grilled saganaki which was really tasty.
Ralena
Awesome 3 stores venue, their rooftop is nice and sunny. The steaks are actually good for a 18$ deal and so are the fries. If you’re in Richmond that’s the place to go for steaks!
Nay Nay
I really liked this bar. Its was spacious with heaps of seating. Staff were great here. Drinks specials were good and a good bar menu. Wedges were good
Two Sheds
3.7. This is a good Swan St Bar; in fact one of the most popular. Twosheds frequented the RCH late on the night of 2018 Oaks Day for a late night beverage. Nice vibe. Not too many inebriated patrons. Good booze. Nice service bar the lady who said no more Riesling at 12.15am. Ok joint.

I was walking past and I saw a sign calling me in lol. It said something about drop in for a spring beer and given that it’s spring...<br/><br/>I had a pint of Balter which was tasty. Nice and hoppy and very drinkable. In fact too drinkable! Oops it’s a school night so time to go. <br/><br/>This pub is ok, it’s really big inside and a restaurant out the back. It’s a mixed crowd, very casual. The crowd was friendly and cheerful.
Melbourne To Mouth
This place has everything; pub food, rooftop, cocktails, pub feel, club feel, fancier pub meals and function space.<br/>Loving the rooftop Pimms theme they have going on for Australian Open at the moment. Huge jugs of Pimms that go nicely with their Salumi board and maple glazed fried chicken ribs that I’ll definitely be going back for! Give it a crack!!

Met a few mates at the RCH last night for a Christmas catch up.<br/><br/>The beer and venue is reasonably good. <br/><br/>I had a chicken parmigiana which was fairly mediocre. It was slightly burnt, the salad was one piece of lettuce and one piece of cabbage, and the chips were average and relatively sparse as well.<br/><br/>Good venue for a beer, but the food is not great.

Went on Wednesday night and had the steak special for $18 the steak was cooked perfect and the mushroom sauce was very thick and not watery at all
Followthefoodmelbourne
Met up with some friends on Friday night to enjoy a few beers and light nibbles. It’s definitely a popular spot! All the outside areas got taken up pretty quickly so we were lucky to get a table. The beers on tap were good and reasonably priced. We also ordered some chips to share which were excellent hearty, thick cut chips. Overall i probably prefer the corner hotel rooftop for atmosphere, but this is a fun spot too especially if you’re in one of the outside areas.
Sarah
Classic pub meals served up just as you need them every time! Go for the lasagne arancini balls if you’re looking for something extra but be warned, they’re moreish 😍
Luke Rigley
Average food, even more average staff. Rude, unfriendly. So many other great pubs and restauarants on Swan st. Won't ever bother going back.
Ange Daskarolis
Really good if you have plenty of time on your side, otherwise service is poor.... waiting waiting and waiting. Allow 1 hour for your meal....
Foodandwinefan
Came with a group of friends to watch a game and order some pre dinner food, absolutely rip off for sub par pub food. i would not recommend and will not be back.
Good Food, Good Mood
Great for beers..... and that's as far as it goes. Order the wedges to be safe. I've tried the Parma multiple times and the pork belly burger, heaps of other parmas available in the Richmond area. Staff are nice though.
Ems Review
Trying all the parmas in our local area - If you feel like processed chicken with plastic cheese this is the place for you. Absolutely horrible Parma when the highlight of the dish is the chips and even they're mediocre it's saying something.
Patchobrien1
Loved the building, staff and atmosphere. However the menu for a vegetarian was lacking. There was nothing substantial under $20, I ended out having the croutons which came out with 5 fish finger type sticks on a plate. Without a charge in menu will not be returning/recommending.
The New Fave
The Richmond Club Hotel is pretty famous for its night life - packed to the rafters most Friday and Saturday nights, it's a favourite among the locals.  It also has an incredible venue - multiple stories, indoor and outdoor spaces and a plethora of seating arrangements.  But I never really knew  whether its food was any good?
Theclarklett
Great venue. Security are great and being good looking must be a requirement to work here as the bar staff as hot af!!<br/>Shame we were asked to move tables once our food arrived because the upstairs was booked. Left to carry our own food and drinks through a busy venue in search of a table. <br/>Aside from that, no complaints.
Onur Beyit
Disgraceful service!! Ruined a our night!! No one was intoxicated and we were refused entry because we walked past a group of people that were fighting, we took a detour to avoid the fight! Had a booking for 15 for dinner, no one was intoxicated! Disgraceful service!!

We went to the Richmond club hotel last night for a meal before the Guns n Roses concert. Richmond was very busy (as it is always is pre an event at the MCG, AAMI stadium or Rod Laver). <br/>The hotel was obviously busy but when we ordered there was no mention of lengthy wait times, we ordered burgers and expected perhaps a 30-45 min wait. An hour later our food arrived (after we had finally managed to find a waitress to ask about cancelling our order because we were starving and needed to get going to get to the concert). My husbands burger was cold and mine was completely raw in the middle!! <br/>There is absolutely no excuse for sending out raw mince meat for paying customers to eat!!<br/>I will never eat here again!
David Gahan
I've been eating here over the last 4 years, the parmas have always been to a very good standard but the last 2 parmas i have had here have been the worst I have ever eaten, not sure if there is a new chef but would not recommend eating here. Good venue for drinks

I have enjoyed going to the Richmond Club Hotel for a drink or 5 for a while now, however I tried their menu on the weekend and was not impressed. It was extremely overpriced for what we got. Ordered the trio of dips, only received two tablespoons of dips and 5 pieces of bread. We paid $16 for the calamari and received 5 small pieces, the taste was nothing special. Although the chips were nice I still don't think it's was worth the price. Won't be coming for food again

This place impressed me from the moment I sat down. We got moved to a better table, the service was fast and friendly. The steak sandwich was delish with tasty chips, great menu selection. Once we went upstairs, the levels were amazing, good music, balcony views of the front street great for people watching and balconies at the back, showing Melbourne city skyline views. Definitely going back, ticked all my boxes for a great night out 👍.
Giovanni Lodi
Nice space, with friendly staff and a selection of beers that might not be fancy but still has plenty of choice. I got a parma which was tasty and of a good size for the price that it was. Would be happy to come dine here again.

This place is my idea of the perfect week-day bar! It's such a funky bar that is full of excitement - there is so many levels and each one is designed beautifully. Whenever I caught a train (very rarely) I always pointed this gem out with every intention of visiting and when I did, it exceeded my expectations. I came on a Thursday around 1pm after my Swinburne exams - it was very quiet at this time which made it great for some relaxing celebratory drinks. The bartenders were great. They were so enthusiastic about their job, always smiling and had a sense of humour - this made the experience even better. The drinks were great-  the expresso martini although it was expensive - it really was great! I also loved the jugs!  We also ordered the steak sandwiches and they were so tasty. The steak was so juicy and tender and the chips were so crisp! You definitely need to visit this pub once in your lifetime. Tip: go on a weekday so you can really embrace the beauty of this pub!
Mark Aitkin
the beef burger was the most disgusting thing i have ever attempted to eat. Absolute shithouse. Bacon half raw, beef mince was like overcooked chunky dog food, bun soggy as a swamp... and it was $24. they should pay me $24 just to eat it as a dare!
Andrew Turner
Behind the classic façade of the Richmond Club Hotel the interior mixes zones of varying degrees of modernity seamlessly. We were seated at the rear of the ground floor in a booth near an octagonal table, below an eight sided lampshade. We visited on a Saturday evening and it was pretty busy in the dining areas and rammed in the bars.
The Swine
This place is an institution but lets face it - it's a dump. Food is terrible, drinks are over priced and the staff couldnt give a toss about you ...and or your grovelling. The Swine thinks the Richmond Club might be great for a pit stop if you need a quick number one. Bonus - if can get a beer in. Ordinary - but Carn the Tigez.
Lauren Billings
Richmond club is a good classic pub vibe. Excellent food especially Parma and alright priced drinks. <br/>Going through the day and sitting on one of their many levels is an optimal experience but going at night time can be a terrible experience as most of the time is waiting in line to make it to their "level 2 club dance floor ". <br/>Is a good place to go for a classic pub feed and experience and staff are usually friendly and accommodating.
Dave Looi
Nice cosy environment. Food, not so good. Ordered a rare porterhouse steak. Came out horribly overdone and dry. It's like chewing rubber. Need to learn to handle order better.

I'm not really sure how to feel about the so-called 'eggplant parma' I ordered the other day here. For $21 I was expecting something awesome, it was one of the only two vegetarian options on the menu. Eggplant Parma is a dish that's pretty hard to muck up, but Richmond Club managed to do so pretty damn well. <br/>First of all, it was hard as hell, which meant it was undercooked, eggplant is meant to be salted first to soften it up! Secondly, it had absolutely no crumbing... Anyone who knows anything about eggplant or even chicken Parma, it needs to be breaded! Thirdly there was no taste there, eggplant Parma needs to have that rich Napoli taste/cheese combination. All I could taste was the horribly hard eggplant. Fourthly, the portion was tiny, I was left hungry afterwards. <br/>It was a disgusting soggy mess and for $21 I was bitterly disappointed at the absolute waste of money it was. Lift your game, Richmond Club.

Reliable and adequate quality for a decent pub feed. <br/><br/>Worth coming to on a Saturday night just to watch the talent make its way up stairs to the "night club" level. Outstanding. <br/><br/>Have a decent tapas style menu as well as pub favourites. One of the better pub meals on this side of the Island.
Leah
Came here on a Monday night, staff are lovely and friendly, food was quick and all 3 meals were delicious. Have also been on a Tuesday night for Parma/Steak special and again food and service was great.

Sat out the back with a few girlfriends, nice vibe, very summery and our table had a little privacy.<br/>We chatted away all night and had some really nice meals.<br/>I will definitely be back.

Wanted to find a good reasonably priced local pub and I can say with certainty that it won't be the Richmond club hotel. Ordered an imported cider 500ml at $13.50. A little pricy but expected. We also ordered a pint of cider on tap for $11.60. I am not sure how these guys can justify charging almost the same price for a tap cider as for an imported stubbie Cider. Will not be drinking at this pub and needless to say will not be my local.
Julietclaude
$28 for main serve of seafood spaghetti..size served looked like leftovers (ie entree size)..queried it..locally sourced produce I was told..must of got the spaghetti from the market lol<br/>But seriously, would of been v happy with , oh, I'm sorry, that does look a touch under, apologies, I'll sort. As a local it's disappointing I won't be back for a long while
Stuck In Transit
A friend’s birthday led us all to the Richmond Club Hotel on Swan Street. I had never been before, so wasn’t really sure on what to expect. Location is perfect, with a short walk from the MCG, Rod Laver Arena and AAMI Park, the space no doubt is busy when there is an event taking place.
Elisha Lee
This place is going to be my new favourite hangout! I love the fit-out of every floor, but most certainly the rooftop bar. The booths are perfect for afternoon beers overlooking the city. Cannot fault anything about this place.
Michaela Watson
Great food and vibe but it just gets way too packed and loses the ambience in the evenings. Such a shame but I know they have to make money!
Suezy Sue
Ordered two southern chicken burgers.<br/>Told the waitress we were still waiting on one... 20mins later still no burger!!!<br/>Then complain at the bar and it comes straight out ...<br/>Apparently the kitchen needs to be told twice about a forgotten meal...<br/>But yet no apology!!!<br/>

Visited this restaurant/bar on a Friday night with my friend and it was pretty packed ( especially the bar section) which was expected. A waitress showed us to our booth and told us the specials of the day :) In the end we opted for a white sangria jug, a turkish bread and the empanadas for starters, and the lamb main which was freshly introduced into the menu that week.<br/><br/>The turkish bread came out first alongside the empanadas and sangria after around 10 miuntes. The dip that came with the bread with had a really weird taste but the caramelized onions were beautiful and accompanied the bread really well. The empanandas however was really tasteless and bland, would not reccomend this dish at all not sure why it was on the menu to be honest haha. The sangria was deliciousss! But what sangria isnt haha<br/>okay, straight to the main point of this post, THAT MAIN DISH! oh my golly gosh it was beautiful! The lamb was cooked to perfection ( medium rare just to my liking) and came with a side of sweet pork ( not sure what the sauce was, but tasted like char siu hahaha), parsnip crisps and a polenta cake which was to die for! Seriously one of the nicest mains i've had in a while, 10/10 for this. Hats off to the chef who cooked this ( Actually made the waitress send for him as I wanted to compliment him personally, I think his name was Stacey haha) as it made me change my mind about the place as I would definitely return just for that dish.<br/><br/>Overall, service was above average and waitresses were pretty friendly but the highlight for me was the lamb dish that I would defs return for.
Melbournian
Food is just ok., The steak special on special night was good for the price ($15 with a drink, I think it was) but I wouldn't get it on a regular day for $30. Good for a drink when it is not too busy and you can find a table.
Tony
Get rid of the chef. Seriously dissapointing. Chef has decided a Parma and coleslaw is the go. Guess what it doesn't and it is garbage. Five meals here with friends and all unfortunately are rubbish. For a Thursday night the place is a ghost town. Hope they get the message and get a chef that knows what he is doing before he kills this joint
The Best Bloody Burgers
There is not much more to say about this meal. All the ingredients were fresh and well prepared. If you had a burger craving and this was the only pub open then it is an inoffensive meal.
Hide And Seek
The menu is posh-but-hearty pub grub – think wagyu beef burgers, eggplant and zucchini parmagiana, and crispy-skinned fillet of Tasmanian salmon – with mains priced fairly. Visit Tuesday or Wednesday for $13 meal specials and Friday night for happy hour (5pm-7pm).
One Fat Cow
Richmond Club Hotel is all about the location, close to Melbourne's Sporting & Entertainment Precinct. There is not a typical crowd, if you're going to see JLO, which I was the other night the pub was packed full of concert goers. If the footy is on, it's full of blokes.. They have 2 sittings now to accommodate for these crowds, we had the 6pm out at 7:15 which was not a long sitting, considering we could only get there around 6:30pm. It was actually pretty quiet in the dining room. I had the Calamari Salad ($21.50), the calamari was dusted in Sichuan and served on a bed of rocket salad with cherry tomatoes, cucumber & spanish onion. I guess I've been spoilt lately when it comes to Calamari and this was so bland. The calamari wasn't overcooked but there was no flavour. There wasn't even a wedge of lemon to squeeze on them, I don't usually add salt but I had to on this occasion. My friend Daniel had the Chicken Parma ($19.50) served with beer battered chips. He enjoyed it and said it wa

In my drunken travels up & down Swan Street, I have walked past the Richmond Club Hotel many times, yet I’ve always registered it as a bit of a dive – ignorant of me, I know, but with so many attractive establishments in the area the RCH never really fell onto my radar.

Each level has its different vibe to it (once you get to each level) so there really is something for everyone.

Any excuse to go on a burger rampage across Melbourne!! I love a good burger – who doesn’t? And we are pretty spoilt in Melbourne, so much so you can now buy The Burger Book and take the burger challenge – How many places can you visit? The book is a beautiful combination of burger stories, recipes for the perfect burger elements and a tour of the best burger joints across the suburbs. So who did we visit? Not the same anymore. Ordered the special Paella of the night which was a huge let down. They used the wrong type of rice and it ended up looking like soup and tasted terrible. Plus, I love mussels and 4 out of 5 were closed. Never going back which is a shame because it used to be good!

My previous meals at the richmond club were consistently tasty. However, tonight I ordered the Angus burger and it was certainly no where near the value of $21. The burger patty seemed processed rather than freshly made and was all round disappointing. It's a shame because the richmond club used to have the best steak sandwich in town. My friend who ordered it said it had also gone down hill. Hopefully they return to their old ways of awesome burgers and steak sandwiches

Nice place for a drink. Usually come here with my mate during week nights and it's good. But I'm totally displeased with the service we got today from the waiters and one of your bouncers..thinking that we could enjoy a warm and sunny Sunday in such a crowded pub, but was ruined when got told off by this bouncer that "you're not even supposed to be here" when we were just standing and having drinks at an empty space on the 2nd level as there was no more room at the outdoor bar area..

Love this venue!. First time I went to the Richmond club was on an after work farewell dinner and was pleasantly surprised at the space and decor on entering. We were a party of 8 and hadn't booked tables so the friendly restaurant staff created a table for us and were attentive without being annoying and our meals were all delivered together and quickly after ordering. <br/>Everyone really enjoyed the food, and finally: sensible portion sizes! Not giant king size meals with mountains of chips. <br/>We then found our way upstairs to a cosy booth where it was easy to access the bar and outside deck for the smokers. (Good lighting for a date! Just sayin) Or just hanging with friends.<br/>I can't fault it! I always recommend it to friends who haven't been. Looks pretty average on the outside but inside is a cool, retro decor inspired cosy and reasonably priced pub. (I can't believe the bad reviews, must be something personal!)

No good. I've been here twice. the food is pretty poor quality for the price they charge. tonight I ordered the chicken BLT seems pretty straight forward. WRONG! I sent it back because it was missing the B and the L. When I mentioned this to the waitress she said she'd bring out some bacon but then brought out a whole new plate...Unfortunately still no bacon and some spinach leaves instead of lettuce! my fellow diners also had let downs fish n chips whivh was all battrr and little fish and some ordinary dips and bread. If you're looking for a drink and a boogie this place is fine but don't come for the (sub par) food

Horrible experience all-round. Not sure which was worst - the piece of cardboard salmon that I was served or the actual service itself. Waitress was useless and straight-up rude. All round this was THE worst dining experience I've ever had. I never complain, because I know how difficult it can be to make all the people happy all the time - things happen - but I was so angry at the blatantly rude team of employees I couldn't help but get online to speak my mind. Would hate to think other people would waste their time and hard earned money at such a dive of an establishment!!!

Great place to relax. Great food choices and A+ service.

Good service and great atmosphere with the A-League pre-game drinks kicking off around Richmond.<br/><br/>Great set out and varying levels both indoor and out give great variations to dining experience.<br/><br/>Had the $13 parma on the Tuesday/Wednesday night special. Good garden salad, well cooked parma and chips.<br/><br/>Will return, great value!

Came here for lunch and haven't been here since they renovated the place and the upstairs rooftop area looks spectac! The menu covers all pub favourites and more. I had the chorizo penne and it was yum but not yumtastic. The serving was extra large so couldn't finish it all (just making a note as I hate wasting food!) . The staff were super friendly and ambience has stepped up a notch since refurb.

BIG LET DOWN.. again. Second time i have eaten here and items we order off the menu are "unavailable", even on a quiet night. When will they get it right? Disinterested wait-staff and creepy chef with the beard that hangs out in the rear courtyard staring at the female patrons. Lets just say our christmas work-do was a let down and the chef should organise his kitchen before ogling the patrons.
Mfnb
Maybe you should get your facts right before slagging people, the chef has not been there last few nights. Must be a disgruntled employee of the company that dislikes the chef, usual case scenario. Just jealous and envious.<br/><br/><br/>-----16 Dec, 2013-----<br/><br/>One of my favourite drinking Sunday posts until yesterday. My usual crew and I went down to the pub only to be waiting for longer than usual to be served, funny that. We were only to be ignored by the short bar tender with a beard, I can understand he was too busy watching the cricket, so I managed to get the attention of a dark haired<br/>female, she clearly saw that we were a little annoyed, Only if we could all get paid to watch the cricket. Dissapointing, where was the manager???

Unable to cater for fructose & gluten free needs. Forced to eat elsewhere.. I went to this restaurant on a Sunday night with 6 other friends at 6pm. It was not busy - very quiet. I was excited to see a parmi that could be done gluten free. As I am fructose tolerant (unable to have garlic or onion) due to a medical condition, I asked if the napoli sauce on the parmi could be done with tomato sauce instead (or a suitable alternative) as I suspected it would have garlic/onion. OR if there were any meal options which I was able to have for a meal which we garlic/onion free. The waiter went and asked the chef. Apparently the napoli sauce did have garlic/onion, as did their tomato sauce. They were unable to substitute the napoli sauce for anything else - despite my suggestion of some crushed tomatoes... and that I was very flexible. Quite disappointed and with a group of 6 other people (which I told the waiter), I asked if there was any meal on the menu that I would be able at eat (at all). The waiter seemed quite 'put out' by my request, and I felt slightly guilty for putting him to the trouble of walking out to the chef again, asking if there was anything I would be able to eat. He came back to say that the only thing they would be able to serve me was the salmon, plain, without any sauces for $28. I was unahppy with this suggestion, told the waiter that I wasn't prepared to pay that price for one piece of fish unaccompanied and that I was very disappointed, but my group and I had no choice but to eat elsewhere. <br/><br/>***Very dissatisfied at the lack of help at a very quiet time, and the fact that I was going to dine with 6 other people who were all going to purchase meals. I was made to feel as though I should just adjust to the existing menu, or leave. I suggest that anyone with allergies - particularly the increasingly common fructose malabsorprtion - do not dine at this restaurant who are unable to adjust menus to suit our needs. Very poor.***

Good Hotel but really bloody annoying that they run out of Roast every Sunday
Laura
Great steak and parmas. Only been here on steak and parma night but can't fault this deal on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Great steak, choice of sauce, and yummy chips or huuuuuge parma for just $13. My weekly cheap dinner out.

Good for a drink. Service not the best. Food - good if you can snap up a weeknight special.. otherwise just your average pub grub. Nice venue though with lots of levels to choose from depending on what you are after from your night out.
Cuddles
I was dubious... But the food was actually quite good! Very satisfied. But the upstairs bars are very pokey and I'm not sure why they didn't place the bar against the wall? There's room for 4 people on one side ? Strange

Good $13 steak. Worth every cent.
Cremorne Local
It's ok. Apart from the pretentious crowd, it's not a bad bar. Good food and drink variety. Would be nice if they offered drink specials or even a locals card. Regardless, its ok
Vic Cook
Terrible service.. Needs to be better
FOHPro
Drinks only. A popular social drinking place, but very average food.
Bekka Beek
Unfriendly staff and literally the worst burger I have ever had!

Sunday sesh for shiz!. Had a great night at RCH on Sunday - wasn't too busy (I'm guessing everyone was away on holidays) and the DJ was coming out with some awesome old school tunes.... i steer clear of friday/saturdays there now as it's too busy and i don't line up for pubs - but I do love the RCH on sundays :)
DarlingRed
Steak? Out.. I like this place and have never had a problem at all with their grub here but be warned- their steak night is just not up to scratch relative to your other options in the area. Will be giving Tuesday night a miss. The partner had the parma and though I didn't eat anything off his plate (I know- can you believe it guys!) he described it as "only average" and he does tend to rate food as harshly as Homer J Simpson so expect it wasn't great...
Graham
Unfriendly staff and over zealous door staff make this place uncomfortable ti be in. Won't be back.
PhilYA
Pub my tummy. If you're looking for a good pub meal, RCH does it.

I had the $13 wednesday steak with a group of 4 other friends last night. it was very difficult for us to find a table for 5 that was vacant and it seemed just as difficult for smaller groups too. with that said, once we were seated, the service and food was good. we ordered at the bar and food came within 25 mins, impressive given how busy the place was. steak was cooked well, good portion size. enjoyed it but would be cautious returning with a big group simply for the seating issue.
Carlos
The best days are Tuesdays and Wednesdays when you will find $13 steaks and parmas. I'd come back.
Richmond Foodie
Feral pub- noisy due to too many drunks. Even a $13 steak is not good value in this place
Didgy
Foods very good for a pub.
John Smith
Steak Night!. Service goes missing at times and wait staff are not the best, but you can't go past the $13 steak! Recommend for a cheap mid-week meal.
GNM
Wife and I went there for lunch and drinks before the footy on Friday. Ordered chicken parma and a steak sandwich - both were excellent. Being a pub I'd expect a good parma so I didn't leave disappointed. Was also pleased with the service as the waiter who served us our food made sure our meals were satisfactory and that we were ok for drinks - this seems a rarity these days. Will definitely go back next time we are around the area.
Kris Powell
A great burger with the lot!

Avoid the Steak. Wanted to have the special of a braised lamb however they had forgotten to remove the slip from the menus. A pub; I can let that slide.<br/><br/>Ordered a porterhouse stake, contrary to my intuition. Request was for a medium rare steak which in the end ended up being medium well to well-done. Extremely poor form. If you're going to put steak on the menu and ask someone how they want it cooked, make sure you do it. Once again my view that it's hard/rare to get steak cooked properly in Melbourne is reinforced.
Sara Rose
Wednesday steak night a no go. We ordered 3 med rare steaks and were as chewy as a car tyre.
Richmondlocal
Use to eat and drink there 3 times a week a few years back and keep having a crack but I'm just over the place. Can't get in after work on Fridays food takes forever and I miss the old staff!! Bring on the London Taven
Probablyyum
The staff were very attentive is A's first call on this place. always sets the scene for a good meal. 3 steaks at the table got the thumbs up but my Parma was pretty ho hum considering comparisons in the neighborhood. They've done a good job on the decor and the booth thing really works
Richmond Bar Fly
What is Richmond coming to?. Not sure what the hype is all about. It's a good pub that's for sure but not worth waiting hours in a line on a Friday night.
Shan
Great rooftop for sunny lazy afternoon train spotting. Mojito was a bit lacking. chocolate hazlenut stack was great except for the icecream. cute bar guy.
Dugfish
Just another decent melb pub.

Family Dinner. Took family for Dinner on a Sunday. <br/>ATMOSPHERE: Too many drunk shouting people had to shout across the table to hear each other<br/>FOOD: The food was ok, we had Salmon, Parma, both were reasonable<br/>SERVICE: Poor. Entree and mains arrived at the same time, no drinks were offered, ordered them at the bar ourselves, no coffee/deserts offered. Receipt dumped on table after mains cleared. Water Jug removed and not replaced despite multiple requests. Water finally replaced when we handed back the bill and asked to see the coffee and desert menu.

Best $12 Steak on Tuesdays!. I went there last night for $12 steak night. Superb! I get pissed off with pubs who have cheap steak night but they serve you something that resembles a small piece of minute steak. This is not the case at Richmond Club Hotel. <br/>Excellent quality and size for $12 served with some chips and small token salad. Highly recommend!<br/>Pub has been refurbished so looks fantastic on the inside.
Moon Boots
Great parma & steak. Great for a steak or parma. Friendly and attentive staff.
WineWonker
Problem Parma. They may be cheap on Tuesdays, but the Parmas being served currently are the worst I've had in Melbourne. The chicken tasted almost "beef-burgerish" (onion-like and musky) and upon closer inspection I discovered that it was not composed of chicken breast, not even chicken thigh. This was the sort of chicken reserved for cheap bread-crumbed frozen burgers. The salad was no better and included tomatoes that had been cut 48 hours previously and cucumber that was transparent and rubbery. At $20 it was very disappointing, as their Parmas used to be good back before the renovations. The staff were very understanding and seemed familiar with the situation when I took it back. If you're eating in the area The Corner Hotel never disappoints and has a great Parma, as does The Precinct and The London Tavern.
Chrissa
Bad Parma. Great venue, but I can't say the same for their parmas
Carley Ludlow
BACK OPEN!. Back Open, great pub, lovely decor and very lively! $12 Parmas & Steaks on Tuesdays & Thursdays!
Todd
I can NOT believe the previous review - if mashed potato isn't on the menu then they don't offer it! You should have gone somewhere else!! This place is awesome! The refurb is great, out the front, inside or out the back. The oysters are so fresh and the Parma is sweeet! Good prices and mid week deals as well!
Leon Ridge-Cooke
Refuse to serve mashed potato

It's closed due to fire. Should reopen late 09
