Review The Sporting Globe Richmond - Richmond

Anahí Bock
I had the beef nachos from the summer special menu and they were just fine, not too much beef and they burned it a little. Chicken wings with honey soy sauce were nothing special either. The churros from the summer special menu were good though, with ice cream and chocolate bars.

Upon entering the Sporting Globe in Richmond, we were immediately greeted by Abbey, a lovely young lady who made our first “dinner outing with children at a pub” such a wonderful experience! She ensured we had the best spot available for kids, spoilt us with colouring in and activities and waited on us with the best customer service you could ask for! Thanks Abbey! Also - the meals were delicious!

Booked for a group of friends today for a long lunch session. Everything was great, the food selection and drinks but especially the wonderful, friendly service by all the staff, particularly Natalie, who waited our tables… nothing was too much trouble for her and she made our day so much more special.. a real gem Thankyou ,

Great venue. Attended for Origin, and went to order food. Was told in the space of 15 minutes that the kitchen was closed for 45 mins, then 5 mins, then 10. Each time the staff member was indifferent. It’s a shame. I’ve been before and enjoyed the food and atmosphere. I’ll try elsewhere next time.

The place is nice but, i waited for my food over 1 hour an a half and I decided to cancel after ask a couple of times for it and received the same answer, your order is the next.

We have just left the SG - we were a large group, including three six year olds, on the way to the MCG for the footy. The barman (didn’t catch his name, but he worked in London 2004-10) was simply outstanding. An Aussie gentleman. I go to the SG for boxing/MMA but will go far more often after today.

Good customer service, average food, great range of entertainment options- roof top bar, outdoor seating, trivia nights, Function rooms. Sticky date pudding is a must try . Great Bar and good range of beverages. Ask for the vegan parma- yum !

Had the Tuesday night steak special. Not bad, but nothing amazing, and a little undercooked (see photo). Some good drink specials to be had during the week too. A good place if you want to watch a game while you're having a meal.
Renae Davis
Good food, loved the champion cheese burger (until they got rid of it ), the chips are the best, and Ella is the best server

My brother and I head here to watch UFC and always have an awesome vibe. Solid parmas, good beer and electric atmosphere! Thanks for the good times!
Hugo Dias
Great place to watch the UFC 222. First week in Australia and I already find my favourite place for fights
Cheryl Browne
Great venue, food and staff! Fantastic place to watch the footy on the big screen with fellow Tigers fans. Magico!
Linda Somers
Had a good night out watching Tigers big win last Friday. Good atmosphere, service and food. Felt like wholesome food that night and was pleased to see a selection of salads on the menu. I enjoyed a bowl of the Nourish salad and would definitely eat it again, was a good size and satisfying. Ended the night with live music and a bit of dancing there after the game ended.
Sarah Elizabeth
Great venue to celebrate my husbands 30th! The food was delicious and the staff were very accommodating! Definitely recommend!

We came to watch UFC - great screens and nice booths. The service was great. Food and drinks were amazing and made quickly. Every aspect of our visit was perfect. Thanks so much.

Great party venue. We had about 50 family and friends together for an event on Saturday night in the upstairs room and we had a ball. The staff couldn't have been more helpful and attentive. And all our guests loved the party food platters. Great vibe, great fun and we'll definitely be back!!
Carey Arthurson
Coldest beer in Richmond. Food is great, and the wings are amazing
Kruger Thomson
Great venue for all sporting events, great staff and great food!
Dino Elliott
Outstanding service! Bloke behind the bar was fantastic! Apologies for not remembering your name. Wings as usual “to die for”
Neil Phillips
Went to the TSG to watch an interstate Dees game, a great venue with a great vibe. I love the chicken wings as a snack here. Reasonably quick service when there were so many people there
Shona Tennille
Just keep coming back. Excellent service and fantastic food and beer.

We had a fun day good place and staff were friendly and helpful

The sporting globe has a fantastic vibe on sports days so if you love sporting events then this is your place. We popped in for grand final day and it was packed. Book or come early otherwise you’ll be left standing. We found a little leaning post near the bar where we drank beer, munched on chicken wings and wedges and shouted at the tv! Fun times.

Really cool concept and venue. I look forward to trying the weekly meal deals but today, Saturday, we had the burger and it was decent. The food is fresh and pub style.
Tim Gillham
The buffalo Wings were the best I have ever had and the Monday deal is great cheap beers and great food, what more could you ask for. Will be be back here most Monday’s now with the fellas.
Nay Nay
Went here on a Saturday to watch some footy and a few beers. A great pint beer deal had us going all night.

I went to his place twice in two weeks. Damn them habanero wings had a kick. Delightfully devilish though. Had a massive double bacon cheeseburger which was insane. Next went for Parma night and got the Hawaiian there was this habanero chutney or similar that was pretty freaking ace. Great place for adults and if you need to bring kids it goes well. They seem to have specials every night for drinks and food. I had to drive so I couldn’t partake. Keen to have one open near me.
Gee
Popped in here for a bacon and cheese burger that was fairly solid. The chips were nice and crunchy and I have no complaints. It’s a sports bar so you don’t come here specifically for the food.
Shaun Ruigrok
Food is fantastic, great atmosphere, and reasonable prices and deals. One of the meals in our group’s order was forgotten, but the staff were apologetic and accommodating. Really enjoyed the evening!
Two Sheds
It’s a 3.2. Stopped for a quick drink after an appointment (and, before anyone starts drawing conclusions I have at least three AFDs a week. This is an interest not a lifestyle). The fitout of this sports bar didn’t do a lot for me. A bit grey and dull, I reckon. The scotches on offer were a bit pedestrian. I chose a Glenfiddich which was ok but as always no standout performer. Service was just ok here without any real warmth or human interest. I actually prefer the pokies pub up the road - and I momentarily forget its name - despite the fact that I detest pokies. The atmosphere is better there. The staff have been lovely there when I’ve visited. Tim E’s review encourages me to discount thoughts of ever eating at the Sporting Club. In the end the only thing I really liked was the name of the place although a person I trust likes this place. Such is life.<br/><br/>PS - I later remembered the name of the pub up the road. It’s called The Vine. The front bar is called The Vineyard. In all of Melbourne there’s not a place that looks less like a vineyard.
Man Needs Burger
Really solid pub grub and a great selection of beers on tap, the sporting globe is certainly a great place to watch some sport and have a few. Can recommend the All Star platter to share between a few of you and they do a good honest burger, the buffalo chicken for me is the pick.
Feedme
Have been here just for drinks. It's exactly what you expect from a venue called The Sporting Globe - if you're there, it will most likely be to watch sport. Pretty commercial in its drinks menu and in line with any other pub of its type - nothing spectacular to stand out. If you're in good company, you'll enjoy this place.
Donjon
The venue was clean and the service was excellent. Scott’s service and attitude was refreshing. The food came out quickly and was very nice. Good portion sizes as well.
Kady
Good pub grub. <br/>It has an extensive menu in which all plates we ordered were pretty good.<br/>It’s not an amazing place for food but as a destination for sport, beer by the litre and some food to soak it all up, its a very cool place.
Dieter
The big draw card here is obviously the sports on foxtel, I came here for some NFL action. I like the staff, and the highball specials kept me going all afternoon. The steak was a real let down, close to well done rather than medium rare, and a thin cut. On the flip side the ribs with the sauce was delicious.
Timinmelbourne
I was hungry tonight and I was hoping for a good local feed. I’ve wanted to visit this pub for some time and to tonight was the night. <br/><br/>The service was excellent, really personable and friendly. The food on the other hand... well it wasn’t the best night. <br/><br/>We ordered what I thought was popcorn chicken but it wasn’t crunchy. And there wasn’t very much for the price either! <br/><br/>We both ordered Parmas and they were pretty ordinary. The side salad was ok, the chips were ok too. <br/><br/>The beers were ok but mainly commercial. I’m not in a hurry to head back to the chain store.
Cal
Nice tunes, nicely priced pints (~ $8). TAB and several televisions showing various sports/races. Also saw pretty much half the Melbourne footy club too.
🍀
Sunday 27.08.17 at 7.30pm. <br/>Serving pub food that is just that. <br/>You are not going to go here for a fancy dinner date. <br/>There is good pub burgers 🍔 and Parmas to be got here. <br/>The Buffalo wings are finger licking good 😊
Good Food Good Mood
The name of this place sounds like a shoe shop but the people are clearly flocking as the chain has expanded to five branches across Melbourne. As the name suggests it's a great place to watch a game and has a decent pub atmosphere. I went it with low expectations but I was actually pleasantly surprised by the food. Brought here by friends who wanted to attack the Parma night I chose to ignore the nightly special and order off the menu. I opted for a salad so I could have a well balanced meal of wine and leaves. Kind of regretted it as the smashed avo Parma looked phenomenal. I have to say I'm actually looking forward to the next time someone suggests this joint as the dessert menu sounds super enticing I want to eat EVERYTHING. <br/>

First time coming here tonight to eat. Didn't know what to expect. Tonight was Half price ribs, wings and pints. The service was slow so I can't imagine what it would be like on a busier night. The wait was really long I think over an hour. The staff at times weren't attentive. Finally the food came and it was great. Nice ribs sticky sauce and the burger was excellent too. I would come here again for ribs. Hopefully il get to try more things in the future. Best of luck in making this place better
Trav
A good place to watch sport and enjoy a beer with friends. The food was pretty good, the service was friendly and quick. If you are looking for a pub and place to watch sport this should suffice.

Really love The Sporting Globe, and this one is pretty consistent with the others. I really like the $14.90 Parmas on Wednesday nights! They've got a really good offer of weekly offers.<br/><br/>My only concern is the variation to other stores. My partner ordered steamed vegetables instead of salad with the Parma, and there was no garlic with them (which other stores have done). Also, with the side gravy, it was really watery, which was inconsistent with other locations... the Moonee Ponds store has gravy that has a bit more flavor (a bit of spice of something).<br/><br/>Still a good place to go!
The Dear Luncher
Old mate Bill Hicks once said, "the world is like a ride in an amusement park, and when you choose to go on it you think it's real because that's how powerful our minds are". <br/><br/>Well the Dear Luncher likes rides. The Dear Luncher also enjoys watching sports. He enjoys eating food and drinking beer when watching sport. There is no better place to do this than The Sporting Globe. Best to try and avoid the really busy times as it's busier than a one-armed man hanging wall paper. Get yourself a booth, settle down, get a bucket of beers, a big bowl of wings and enjoy the ride.  Life is too short to worry about getting off the ride, so probably avoid the steaks if you like steaks as you might end up not liking steaks anymore after eating one here.
Jesse Sharp
Went for dinner and drinks on a Saturday night and also to watch the footy. Booked in advance and had a booth with our own TV at the end of the table. <br/><br/>While the food is good (not great) and atmosphere during a big match and the service make up for it. <br/><br/>You know what you are getting with a place like this and it delivers.
IsFoodIsGood
This place is pretty rough on Game Days but it provides better food choices than their competition on Bridge Road.<br/>Lots of TVs for the sport obsessed and clean facilities which is rare for a big pub sports bar.<br/>Offers many settings whether you're there for a meal, watch the sport or have a drink. The roof top area is rather busy but is a good vibe in general.

Tried this place for the first time on Saturday night. We were told the Richmond interstate game would be played on the big screen upstairs. We arrived upstairs to an overcrowded room full of loud, obnoxious blokes. They decided to put the tigers game on the tiny screens either side of the annoying and overly bright big screen. Not a lot of open air upstairs so the fact that smoking is permitted while people are eating is pathetic. Unfortunately we ordered chips, but as soon as we finished them, we left. Won't go near the place again!
Cory Thomas
Typical sports bar feel (which I like), loved the selection of beers and of course the tower. The food was great I had a beef burger which was very nice but the Caribbean Jerk wings were awesome.
Bec Martinez
Great casual spot to watch a game with friends. Menu is ok, what would be expected from a venue such as this. You certainly never walk away hungry and the service has been above average each time I have been.
Gastrology
The Sporting Globe is a great modern-day pub and bar, emphasising sport as the main attraction with large screens and services to match. Fittingly, their dining menu is also a step above what you would traditionally expect from a sports bar, with the emphasis on quality pub food evident in their menu.
Bigdoggeats
The smoked cheddar Parma is absolutely fantastic. Real good tasty apple and celeriac slaw. Great atmosphere. Every sport you can hope for. Great selection of beers on tap as well. Do yourself a favour
Michael Storer
Only giving this a 1 as I cannot give it a 0. Absolutely atrocious service. Cannot rate the food as we are still waiting for it. Been well over an hour wait for a burger and chips. Was spoken to very rudely when asked about the wait and was even asked how long it would take me to make 120 burgers. Very rude customer service. Food could be the bomb but we won't be back purely because of the service. Narre Warren Sporting globe are much better and have great service.
Denny Patron
Really disappointing as a local! The food is average (except for the wings and boneless wings which are 10/10) and the best part of the place the beer garden upstairs is always closed! Such great potential but not quite there.
Gem
Great pub with friendly staff and awesome food! The decor is decked out with sporting memorabilia, locker room cages and sporting channels everywhere you turn. If you're after a sports bar, this is where to go. They have daily specials and deals, and a rooftop area which I'm sure would be huge on big sporting events.<br/><br/>We started with the trio of dips, which in true American style had heaps of bread and just enough dip! The bread was super fresh and tasty!<br/><br/>The MVP Parmi's for mains. The beer-batter chips stood out for me, but not because the rest of the meal was bad, but because the chips were so damn good! Cooked perfectly and delicious taste! The parmi itself was pretty awesome too! Oven baked is the way to go! <br/><br/>Will definitely be returning!

Closest thing to a US sports bar in Melbourne. Best place to watch sport or a major event and the quality of the food and menu is massively underrated. Specials nights keeps us going back almost weekly.
David Liao
a corner pub which i have walked around hundreds of times.  today finally decided to try it out.  love the booth where there is touch screen tv with access to all foxtel sports channels.  the pie and parma is yuummy too

Knowing The Sporting Globe Richmond is part of a 'chain' of restaurants with connections to one of the AFL footy clubs, I lowered my expectations when invited to cheap Tuesday steak night. I was way off the mark- this place is brilliant- firstly it looks great with plenty of choice for the type of table or booth you'd like to sit at- the booths up the back with mini TVs playing footy installed are a cool touch too. The staff behind the bar were friendly and relaxed and the wait staff was spot on- almost too good for a pub style venue. We all had steaks ($16 for a 300g ribeye 👍🏻) with sides- everyone cooked perfectly and not a single mess up on our confusing sides and condiments orders. We will try a few other steak nights in Richmond but this place will be hard to beat.

Sports, beer, buffalo wings and rowdy crowds are usually what comes to mind if anyone mentions the words ‘sports bar’. I was recently shown that there is more to sports bars than just the above list, at least when it comes to The Sporting Globe in Richmond. I was invited to attend a bloggers winter feast dinner and I would like to thank The Sporting Globe and AMPR for this opportunity.

Best hotel on the 3121island - amazing food, brilliant staff, food and drinks selections are top notch - if you haven't been yet, do yourself a favour already. Thanks to all the crew for a great time each time we go 👍🍻
Mommyinmelbourne
A very well made and spacious bar seemed like a great choice to watch a game with mates. But when we actually went here for one of the popular matches the place was absolutely dead for a Sunday. About average food too.
Kein
Good place to catch the NBA with mates over lunch, and the lunch deal is a good option. Burger, chips, beer and sports on the telly and booth seats! A winning combination, closest you can get to a sports bar experience I reckon. Would definitely visit more often if it was slightly cheaper.
Dave
ANZAC was a disappointment. Felt sorry for the staff working that day. Couldn't even start our day until 12.30 because the rooftop bar couldn't be opened due to late staff. We heard good things about the place and called prior and were told it would be opened at 11. Thing that annoyed me most was watching a "Private group" go up before everyone else and take best seating In front of big screen. We were told you couldn't book. Do think I will return.
Ant
Could organise a $@%# Up in a Brewery!. I know we’ve all heard this statement before but I actually witnessed it first hand on Anzac Day at The Sporting Globe in Richmond.<br/><br/>There is a tendency for people to “go the man” on these review forums and you very rarely see good praise. In the interest of balance I will preface my comments by saying as a venue this place is not bad to watch live sport in but the farce that took place on Anzac Day requires explaining. We arrived on mass at 11am to find out that no booze could be served until Noon, that was fine but every single table downstairs was reserved for lunch time and management informed us that we would have to wait in the bar (a very skinny secondary bar) until upstairs was opened at 12:30pm. <br/><br/>What unfolded was like an episode of Falty Towers as hoards of people assembled into what effectively became a holding pen whilst upstairs lay empty and nobody could sit in the front bar because it was all reserved, Coffee was ordered and took ages as staff had not arrived yet, as the crowd started to verge on a stampede a large group were advanced upstairs, we took this as a green light, only to be told this was a private booking and we were all sent back downstairs like naughty little children as a bunch of managements friends took pole position in front of the big screen in an empty rooftop bar, if that wasn’t bad enough food started to arrive for ex servicemen who were forced to eat it on the steps of the bar whilst we waited for the green light for the upstairs bar because the manager told us he required 15 mins in the office. <br/> Our group understands hospitality like you wouldn’t believe, we all work at the pointy end of corporate hospitality and probably hold a combined 100 years in 5 star Hotels between us, we are by no means harsh critics but this sort of appalling organisation beggars belief. <br/><br/>I hope this review helps management rectify this from happening again because you don’t have to be Einstein to work out that a pub on Anzac Day will be busy and perhaps you should have contingencies in place with staff and seating etc. As I said before this place is not that bad for drinks and watching live sport (food was good too) but it was a very shabby organisation on Anzac Day, had to plead for the TAB terminals to come on and when I asked for a cash out option at the bar both staff said it was their first day on duty and didn’t know. <br/><br/>Ps – cant swing a cat in the male toilet – how can you have a pub that holds 1,00 people and build a toilet with a urinal that accommodates one and a half men? Very strange! <br/><br/>Hats off for the interactive live sports screen at our table – that is a cool feature.
Dalyronaldo
Good selection if sport on and decent pool table, that's about it. Food is way overpriced for what you get.$24 or a burger is expensive considering the competition around
Grahamraymond
Great pub grub. Had an all star platter which fed four of us. Great place to watch any sport and food to match
Linda_k
A bit cool for me, otherwise great. Great food, very friendly staff and love the upstairs area. We make it a habit to try and get there a few times a month, even though I find the temp a little on the cool side. Minor detail really.
Willow Peters
We are locals and absolutely love this pub! We have been going here since it opened last year and always have such a great time. The staff are really friendly, the food is yummy American style pub food (my boyfriend is obsessed with the wings!) and they make awesome cocktails!!
Jane Hanes
Amazing venue, popped in for burger night and not one person on the table was disappointed! Great value and great offer
Lani Irene
New local!. Have been here a number of times now, love the atmosphere and the Parma is a standout! Staff are always on the ball and friendly, always welcomed with a smile!! Great place to watch the footy
Ryan
Food, beer and sports - a winning combination!. I popped into The Sporting Globe last night - first time I've had an opportunity to be there and not solely for the sports... thought it'd be a good chance to try-out the dining experience with the family. The waitress was very friendly and attentive, and convinced me to give a few of the specials a go along with my steak - glad she did. The wings were delicious and the steak was great. I don't know how they do their chips but, they're perfect. I'll be back for more.
Steve
Discgrace. This is the worst place for customer service i have ever seen order placed waiting 40 mins for the staff to come out and say there is a printer malfunction we cant cook your meals but will give you your deserts for nothing your joking not even an offer to cook the meals this joint is a disgrace the meal and drinks for 2 would have been approx 140 to 160 wonder why these joints dont attract people never ever again will it see 20 cents from my pocket little less a meal or a drink
Dean Robertson
Do not order the mac &cheese !! The chef should be embarrassed to put that out!!
Aimes56
Terrible service with average food.... I have never written a review on a restaurant but this was so bad that I wanted to give my feedback. I would've told the staff directly but we wern't even asked 'if everything was ok' cos they simply didn't care about us from the minute we walked in as they were too busy setting up for Super Bowl... Staff and service was appalling - will never go back because of this. Food was also average..
Loves Pubs
Badly put together franchise. I love my sport and loved the idea of this place, once I got there I could not have been more disappointed. The venue is like a poorly put together franchise with bad food and nothing special to really offer.<br/>Give me a sports pub any day.
Traveller
Oh for a decent pub in Richmond. This ain't it for me. If you like traditional pub food like parmas, lots of TV and gambling and lots of people smoking then this is the place for you!
Beyondmetoo
Totally disorganised but a ghreat burger!. Walking down Bridge Rd, I consulted US to find a highly-recommended eating place for lunch on the way to the G. The Sporting Globe looked to be a good choice. However, we should have bailed out when we couldn't find any waiting staff on entry. Finally after wandering around for 5 mins or so, we were offered a seat. There was mention of a function upstairs but we weren't told that we would have to wait more than an hour to be served our starter dips (should have come with our drinks) and then almost immediately we were served our burgers after threatening to cancel if they were not served withing 5 minutes! The burgers were delicious and well worth waiting for, but unfortunately we were now in a hurry and had to leave a large portion of the meal unfinished. Could have been great, but I was astounded that they allowed the function upstairs to completely dominate their kitchen, with no regard being paid to walk-in customers with return potential.

Great meal. Great beer!!! O.... Great meal. Great beer!!!<br/>Owner and publican Ex Richmond defender Kelvin Moore is everywhere. No job to big or small for that fella. Running a pub like an old fashioned publican. Hats off to all involved.
Scottydewar
Amazing staff and service!. This is an awesome venue and it is obvious that the owners and management have put a lot of thought and effort into creating a great experience for their customers. I love the layout with the booths complete with personal TVs, the multiple big screens and bars and the rooftop deck. The food was good although the drinks list could be a little better - more craft beer and beer taps please - but overall the venue and food were top notch for this type of venue.<br/><br/>What really made this experience a delight though was the staff. They were fantastic! Personable, helpful, cheerful and very quick to notice our empty glasses and clear the tables down after service. A US style sports bar with US style service. I really congratulate the management, wait and bar staff that were working when we visited. Great work by all!
Larry
Service was average however the food was delicious as all hell. Great set up with the tvs in each booth with the choice of what you want to watch. Will defs return and get violently inebriated.
Sam Motha
Nice Fitout however maybe some teething issues!. We were excited for a new sports bar which shows the All Blacks. However, being told that we can't order a drink at the bar was rather frustrating! Instead, sat at the table waiting for 30 mins for a waiter to take my order but the waiter never came.<br/><br/>Food was nice and love the number of TV screens. Bar was a little chilly too!
TJLethal
Great fit out. Friendly staff. Seems family friendly too. Will be back.
Birdman
Finally someone has given us a great authentic American style sports bar. Boneless wings (hooters style) pork sliders and normal wings are absolutely amazing. Great amount of sport on and just so happy this is open. Will be here very regularly.
