Review Roam - Richmond

Andrew Schultz
Got here for a late lunch so the kitchen was closed. Had a toasted sandwich which was delicious. Palace was fairly empty I had the pick of seating. Great atmosphere even without people inside and the coffee is great. Nice place to come after a workout and hang out for breakfast or lunch. Very friendly staff. #BeatTheGrind

We had a delicious brunch at Roam cafe. We started off with coffees while looking at the menus. We decided on the mighty beef burger with a generous serving of fries. The roast lamb salad was super tasty with its balsamic dressing. My favourite meal was the Roman fried eggs served with delicious prosciutto, truffle paste, labne on sourdough. Everything in this cafe has been thought about. The deco is on trend with its neon signs, staff are fantastic, they serve St Ali coffee and food is so good.

Friendly service, very good coffee, well trained barista! Food is fresh, burger was moist, cheese cake yummy. Great modern clean place to catch up with friends.

BEST EGGS BENEDICT I’VE EVER HAD, HANDS DOWN! I wish I had remembered to take a picture before I started eating, but I almost couldn’t stop once I started! I don’t know what they put in their hollandaise sauce here, but it the BEST I’ve ever had! The English muffin was toasted perfectly, the eggs were poached just right, even the hash browns I ordered on the side were just the right amount of crispy! I also had an apple, carrot, and ginger juice and I cannot recommend that enough! Will absolutely be coming here again!

Located near from chapel, the amazing cafe. They have great selection of food in the menu. I loved the service here. The staff here were super friendly. I like it when the gave my kid a a paper and coloring pens. The seating inside are great and well organized. I do recommend this place

Very good coffee. The staff is charming, always looking to see if everything is good and we didn't have to wait long to have our food. For any Belgians reading this, I had the waffles and these were the closest from our Liegeoises waffles. Would definitely recommend trying them out. The other food were very good too.

Delicious food and plenty of options for vegetarians and non-vegetarians alike! The egg & toast portion was generous to say the least (2 slices of bread and a LOT of egg) - it was delicious but unfortunately we weren't able to finish it! The polenta and poached eggs were interesting and the whole meal was filling overall 😊 •Coffee is good •Staff are friendly •Interior is nice

Delicious coffee - beans from St Ali cafe, so you won’t be disappointed. Steak sandwich is great - a bit pricey for the breakfast menu in Melbourne but that’s the only negative really.

Cosy little Italian inspired cafe located on Coppin Street in Richmond. If you are looking for brunch, @roamrichmond serves a variety of classics with an Italian twist. I went with the healthier option and had the breakfast salad, served with spinach, asparagus, brocolli, cherry tomatoes, pecorino, caramelised onions, sweet potato crisps and poached eggs. It was clean and simple, just perfect for days when I feel that I should be good. Excellent service and good food just brightens up the day. Be sure to look out for offers on @livenpay no one says to amazing cashbacks!

On a busy street of Richmond, Roam was a great find for an afternoon coffee and some senstional cakes. In amongst an office building, Roam is a vast space with lots of natural light, plenty of great seating and some awesome neon signs. The vibe is cool and comfortable.

We ordered some coffee and cake, and everything was great. The coffee was really good, and it arrived promptly. The cakes were generous serves, fresh and tasty. Service was friendly and we felt quite relaxed in this lovely space. We would happily return to try food from the brunch menu, which also looked really good.

A pleasant experience.
Coffee was good. Service was great. Food was as expected of a good quality cafe. Portions were generous enough. Pricing was fair. Space was nice and suitable for group meets.
Worthwhile if local.
Hello. Imnikki
Arriving at Roam on a weekend afternoon, I was surprised that there was only two other occupied tables. Alarm bells started ringing in my head but I persisted with my decision. For this I was rewarded with an enjoyable meal, and delightful service.

My partner's skinny latte was very good, and very easy to drink, and so was my iced coffee.

I ordered the Polenta Breaky and this was quite the light and healthy dish. The polenta was a beautiful golden brown, crisped on the outside and soft inside. A bit under-seasoned in itself, but when combined with the rest of the ingredients on the dish, problem solved!

My partner's Big Breaky was fantastic. The potatoes and Brie croquette was super cheesy and very moreish. Both the mushrooms and chorizo delivered on flavours, plus the scrambled eggs was so creamy and buttery. We were told by a friendly staff that they chose to use rindless bacon, which was less fatty. As such the bacon was more similar to a bacon jerky, one that was rich in flavour but also addictively crispy.

We took away a chicken and avocado wrap for a friend, and she demolished it in a flash so that's a thumb up from her too.

It was indeed a satisfying meal, and EatClub made it a very affordable meal.

This was a lunch out spot for me using a eat club voucher I had. There's ample seating area in the area which makes it ideal for a lunch out or an informal official meal. I was here mainly to try out their chicken salad which has raised a few eyebrows.

Unfortunately they only had a limited menu as theyve apparently had a shocking day. So I chose their chicken avacodo wrap and a muesli. The guy infront was extremely nice to me and it was so pleasing after being disappointed with their menu option.

The wrap was such a filling meal wjth the goodness of creamy chicken, avacado and greens. This finished off with the nutty nutritious muesli was very good. Not the most fresh products, but I'm guessing that their original menu would've been nice. Recommended!

This cafe is located very near where we live but we had never been, today we decided to try it out with eat club discount deal. The location is quite good, there were only few customers when we arrived. A guy came to serve us. We ordered scrambled eggs on toast and polenta brekky also a bowl of fries. Scrambled eggs on toast was good, however, the polenta brekky was very disappointing and disgusting. It was the first time for us that a cafe would serve “ faked avocado” which is a tube that you could buy from supermarket ( where are those fresh avocado other people posted?? ), and the polenta was like made by machines. On the top of that, the pesto they use to put on the top of poached eggs is pesto dip ( from Coles?). Speaking of the fries, they were just like from frozen bag ( Coles again?) overall, the food just like trying to save money in order to keep the business running. Service part, the guy who served us had an unappreciated manner when we ordered food, he laughed when we tried to twist the dishes we ordered ( what funny? ) and when he gave us napkins and cutlery, a napkin dropped on the floor, told us he would come back to give us a new one and never came back. Also there was no salt and pepper on our table, I had to go inside to get by myself. Highly suggest people not to go there!!

Great place to go when you want somewhere more quiet than the other places on bridge rd. Spacious. Great for big groups and has a dog friendly outdoor area! Big fan of the Bolognese toast!

Friendly staffs, spacious and comfortable, plenty of parking around, good food and coffee, will definitely come back in the future to try other items on the menu :)

Staff are lovely and accommodating. Chicken fried rice was very aromatic but too spicy and oily for my tastes. My brother had the chicken burger which he enjoyed. Worth another visit but will try another dish.
Had the poached eggs on bolognese which had potential to be very top notch, the bolognese sauce was really good but the eggs were over cooked and there was a bit to much olive oil on the toast which was very overpowering.
- Potato Rosti was 10/10
- Feta and avo didn’t seem great quality
- Bacon and coffee both pretty good.
Nice large space but very loud, could hardly hear the waitress. Would probably come back at some stage but not rushing back.

I was hungry like a wolf today so called into Roam cafe for an early morning bite ahead of work. Being part of a fairly modern apartment building this cafes dimensions were quite large, but it didn’t feel cavernous at all due to well thought out internals breaking up the space. We sat at one of many share tables at the front of the cafe while classic David Bowie played to ease us into the day.

We were offered coffees to start with (St Ali) and observed other customers doing the same. Staff were very good at knowing the regulars coffee orders which is bound to please. After our coffees arrived we then preceded to order some of the hearty dishes from the breakfast and lunch menus.

We ordered the Calamari from the lunch section and OMG, this is one of the better calamari dishes out there, the baby squid rings where tender, in a super tasty batter and paired perfectly with roquette and balsamic mayonnaise.

Next up we tried the Polenta Breaky which was a nice bonus being gluten free. It came with super crunchy cheesy polenta which was perfect for soaking up the yolk of the poached eggs. This dish is kept fresh with the freshly picked basil leaves, cherry tomatoes, perfectly sliced avocado and drops of balsamic. I loved this dish, no toast in sight yet a super satisfying breakfast from the great flavours to the generous portion size.

We also ordered the Breakfast Green salad, a delightful mix of spinach, charred asparagus, broccoli, cherry tomato, pecorino, caramelised onion and kept fresh with some lemon tang. It also had a lovely crunch from sweet potato crisps, while the poached egg and added smoked salmon made for a super filling meal. The additional upgrade to include salmon is well recommended.

Accompanying our meals I also ordered a mixed juice blend which was sweet and had celery, carrots and other yummy items.

My favourite of the three dishes we tried today was the Polenta because I’ve had such bad Polenta dishes at other places and I now know how good it can be. Overall I was surprised at how generous the serves were with all of these dishes

I hear Roam soon plan to launch a Parma Night on a Friday night, which should get peoples attention. Every other parma night I know of in Richmond occurs on the quieter Monday thru Wednesday evening, so a Friday night option is sure to be welcomed.

A big thank you to David and the team for your hospitality.

Open, baby and pram friendly with a warm vibe, roam is a gorgeous cafe with a venue that isn’t just your typical breakky stuff. Serving up st Ali coffee, we really enjoyed our visit to Roam today! The Nepalese egg white crepe with smoked salmon, avocado and Labane was delicious and a refreshing change from your typical “avo smash, baked eggs kind of menu”. The bolognaise poached eggs were also great! The service is friendly, the food is great and they’re super accommodating!

Funky cafe in Richmond, great coffee. Lots of space & wicked decor.
Food was really good food.
Service was attentive.
I’d go back for the coffee.

Lovely wait staff. The coffee was very strong; stronger than I could take today. The Green Breakfast Salad would have hit the spot if the broccoli was softer (almost raw brassicas cause belly ache in lots of peeps). Otherwise pleasant.

Fabulous st Ali coffee. A beautiful airy, inviting venue, particularly for the heap of offices in the vicinity. The steak sandwich (special) was beautiful & gourmet tasting with roasted capsicum & quality cheese. The barramundi with paired with a tasty salad was lovely for a lighter lunch. We couldn't stop at the chips. After a side with my sanga we realized we needed more & ordered a bowl. They are fried with parmesan cheese & well salted. Was most impressed with their unique breakfast menu & lovely looking cabinet with frittatas.

Great spacious pram friendly cafe. Delicious food and great service. Burger was delicious as was the breakfast salad. Highly recommend and will be back

First time and tried out for lunch as live in the vicinity. Easy parking and welcomed to a bright open room with music at right volume. Comfortable open tables not crowded. I decided on the bolognese poached eggs and the combination is just right. Big serve and could not fault. My wife had risotto which was even bigger serve but cooked very well. Had thought to share a fruit salad for seconds but not up to it this time. Plenty of good cafes in Bridge and Swan Sts but this is as good as we have tried as yet. Will certainly be a regular for lunch.

If you love breakfast with eggs, check out Roam in Richmond! We enjoyed the Sicilian Scrambeled Eggs and the Bolognese poached eggs. Both these dishes are signature dishes at this cafe and were nothing we had ever experienced before! Full of punch and flavour, give them a go and let us know what you think! :)

Pretty happy with it after the place has changed hands quite a few times. Closer to a 4 star than a 3. Had the drawcard breakfast on the menu something you don’t see at any other cafe...bolognese on toast with poached eggs cooked perfect and pecorino cheese on top... real good bolognese do the whole dish worked. Potato croquette was soft and fluffy inside. Good make your own juice too. Worth a visit plus it doesn’t get crazy busy like other overrated cafes.

Been here many times and have enjoyed it every time. The staff are very attentive and friendly and the food so delicious. I love the carbonara, it’s perfectly cooked and is a favourite of mine.

I asked for the nearest Caffè to my work for lunch very quiet wich is good for me to do my work . I surprised with the rubish service I had ever seen + food very salty looks off and they trying to add more salt so you can never Know. rude rude rudeeee service . Coffee here just sadly no good, over-extracted, burnt and bitter. Dissapointing . Wasting my time and money
they looks closing down very soon
Saturday 11th November 2017 at 11pm.
A nice cafe set in a new building on Lennox St with some outdoor seating.
The staff were a mixed bag of friendly and grumpy.
The coffee was very nice 👍🏻 ☕️
However the Sicilian Eggs 🥚 failed to deliver - these tasted very basic with an overpowering tomato paste / bottle or tinned tomato sauce flavour. 😕

Nice cafe in Richmond. It’s big inside, quite deceiving from the outside. The service was friendly, and the coffee using St Ali Beans was really good.

They had a good selection of rolls, and a regular coffee w carrot cake or banana bread as a special for $7.50 which was perfect.

All good. The lunch special is good value w either linguini or spaghetti for $18 w a glass of wine. Mmnnn hahaha that has by name on it. But not today, I ended up getting the banana bread w strong piccolo latte.

The service from the waiter was excellent thank you.

Yummm ... happy Sunday 😊

We decided to try a new cafe for breakfast. We knew nothing about this cafe and from the outside it looked fine.
The cafe wasn't even half full and yet you could have thought it was their busiest time.

We were left forgotten about for at least 15mins without the offer of a coffee, or even some menus.
Then when we were finally seen to and we were handed our food, it was 'slapped' on the table and we were told to 'enjoy' although the waitress had her back to us and looking at something else, while we were told to enjoy our meal.

I couldn't imagine what it would be like if it was busy!

I wouldn't bother visiting this cafe when there are other cafes in the area that would provide their customers the right attention and service!

Roam is like our second home. I can't say enough great things about the service and the food. Order the Sicilian eggs and you won't be disappointed, my husband says it's the best breakfast he's had in Melbourne, period.

Coffee is good, service is good. Getting coffee from here very often. Was never dissapointed until now.
Take away food is always overwrapped and they dont pay attention to what you're saying. I had asked for a spinach pie and instead got a ham and tomato sandwhich that cost $9.5, was heated up so the tomato became gross, overbuttered and left grease everywhere. I had to pull the sandwhich apart because the wrapper got soggy in the butter and got stuck.
Thank you for ruining my day.

Great Italian food in Richmond! Today for brunch for three I had split chick pea soup, our Swiss friend spaghetti with light cheese and olive oil and for my wife an indulgence of fruit toast, panacotta and banana. All excellent and finished off with great coffee.

Quick Friday lunch. Everything was wonderful. Staff went above and beyond for not only our table but also others seated nearby. Nothing but friendliness here. Fit out looked amazing. The striking greenery at the back as you walk in really makes the wood & gold accents stand out. Coffee was good, rigatoni was amazing and the chips were the most flavoursome I've ever eaten.

Found this little gem thanks to Zomato and it was delicious. Pasta was cooked to perfection, can't wait to go back with some friends and try some more of their Menu.

All was Absolutely Fantastic!! Very good environment and the food was incredible, good taste, good price, excellent staff, they are very friendly. If you think in going there?! Go, but going tomorrow for a fabulous brunch!!

Be warned - this place is no longer owned and run by the previous owners of Pure Italian in North Balwyn. Not sure when it changed but it’s not a patch on what it used to be. Yes, the calamari is still on the menu but it’s not that amazing dish it used to be. The lunch menu is very limited, so if you don’t want breakfast food, you have few options. Service is ok - friendly and efficient.

Food was great, seems very authentic to the region and price was pretty reasonable. Staff ware friendly and attentive. Will definitely be back to try their pasta!

I was initially reluctant to try Roam, the previous tenants weren't all that great. But I did, and I was left very happy. The coffee is good, (cafe latte), albeit probably better short black. Admittedly, I have only tried some of their menu, but the Sicilian Eggs stand out, and are delicious with generous portions. I will be back for more, and I strongly recommend people try it. Congrats to the management for going back to traditional Italian food, with reasonable prices!! And also getting rid of that pretentious cigar smoker who sat outside near the entrance...😉 Also wanted to add that I just tried their $1 tapas Fridays, OMG the best! Cold Sardinian beers, and yummy mouthfuls of fresh food! Try it out this Friday!!!

Roam is an eating venue full of Italian atmosphere. It is a regular coffee place for many locals who are welcomed warmly by the lady who manages or owns this space.
The chefs are clothed in black outfits with Italian flags on the lapels a touch that reminds them and anyone seeing them of their love and respect for food Italian.
I enjoyed my Sicilian Scrambled Eggs however the gluten free toast needed a crispy feel that is often not found in this style of bread but CAN be !!
This allows for a contrast in texture urgently needed in many dishes.
Please owners think of this when you work so hard at getting flavours and miss the crisp crunch of toast.
Coffee and ambiance excellent.
Outside area in the front allows for dog owners to enjoy this cafe.
A huge range of classic Italian food is available for brunch or lunch.
The owner/manager informed us of a Friday evening / night Tapas at $1.00 each.
With option for an extensive menu choice later in the evening should that be needed.
We will visit again.

Great food at reasonable prices. Pasta was al dente. Pasta was a little dry and could have done with a bit more olive oil drizzled on it. Coffees were great. Would love to try more on the menu next time. We had lunch this time and don't mind trying out the brunch in the future - looked like a really good selection on the menu.

Beautiful hidden gem in Richmond. Tucked away in a quiet street off Bridge Rd, Roam is a great cafe for any time. The menu is huge and offers so many authentic Roman options as well as classic Melbourne brunch specials. The service is friendly and waiters are happy to recommend.

Coffee is top notch and they also offer a range of pastries and cakes baked in house.

The kitchen is run by the former owners of Pure Italian in Balwyn North and the menu remains very similar. We ordered pesto and ricotta gnocchi and a carbonara (authentic so no cream! 😍). Both were amazing. Couldn't help ourselves from dessert, ordering (admittedly) more than we could eat, but we couldn't choose. Highlights were the ricotta cheesecake and Mork chocolate tart.

This cafe has been a couple of different ones over the past few years. Let's hope this one stays a bit longer than the last.
We came here on Saturday morning for brunch. Service was friendly and coffee was good.
I ordered the scrambled eggs with peas, buffalo mozzarella, tomatoes, caramelised onion etc, it had nice flavours but for my liking had been cooked perhaps a minute too long, if it had been taken off earlier it would have been more enjoyable.
I will come back and try some other things from the menu as there are many things listed that sound delicious!

David Liao
Located right below my office this is the 3rd cafe that have closed in the part 4 years. Let's hope ROAM can buck the trend. Speaking to the owner I think they have a good chance. With chef from cafe cuchina and family run staff I love the vibe. Food is refreshing but still tap high on price point.

Heard about this place about to open and got so hyped up!!!!!!! So amazing what they have done with the setup, came in today for lunch had pasta my friend had eggs and was absoultely.... Amazing!! So becoming a local to this place, whoever made my coffee keep it up!

Opened up not long ago, very kicked back trendy vibe going inside. They have a good choice of variety on menu, good service and coffee and food is amazing. I love how roam has plants which ads in alot of feature inside of this cafe. Good to have another cafe in Richmond....

Very nice place in Richmond, just opened new amazing friendly waiters. We got a really nice vibe when we walked in!!! Oh My God the coffee is to die for was prefect as the food. Glad there is another great cafe in Richmond...

Not a bad cafe to replace the now relocated Long Story Short. The staff are very friendly and the venue is large enough that you can easily get a table. I ordered the Roman fried eggs with prosciutto, Parmesan reggiano, truffle paste and pea purée on multigrain toast. Whilst it looked like a very simple dish it was actually incredibly tasty. I particularly enjoyed the addition of the truffle paste. My only criticism of Roam is that our food took an absolute eternity to arrive. Hopefully the kitchen will manage to get itself sorted out soon.

So excited for this place to open!
The original team from Pure Italian are back & their new premises is unreal, the fitout is very cool, awesome artwork, timber panelling looks so good, spacious, warm, welcoming, fresh and vibrant.
We shared
fried pizza
Beef ragu gnocchi
calamari
All were really good

The Mork Chocolate cake & Lemon Ricotta Torte hit the sweet spot!

Maker coffee, Prana chai - yum!
Can't wait to go back!
Been so excited for this place to open as it has potential to be my new breakfast spot as it is so close to home. It does not disappoint! Went in for brunch and fit out is immense, service is welcoming and warm and the food tasted fresh and delicious! Can't wait to come back for breakfast/lunch! Jessica Kurban
