Review Little Bertie - Richmond

Cosy cafe, not too busy when we went on a Saturday for brunch at 11am. Seating on the bench against the wall was not the most comfortable. Good coffee. I ordered the bagel with smoked salmon- it was delicious and better than sourdough. The yellow interior design was visually pleasing also. And the option to sit outside in the back courtyard is good too.

Great little spot for a coffee and snacks. Extremely neat and very comfortable with excellent service. Our family stopped in here for morning tea. We ordered chips coffee and a beer so there is a lot of variety and accommodating service.

Great coffee first and foremost. This cafe is nestled on the bustling Swan St with 2 hour parking just behind the cafe close enough to walk. They also have SKIP app which makes it super easy to grab a coffee on the go and not line up. Staff are happy and super nice! They also have wifi (hooray) which is rare in Australia compared to other countries. Great cafe. Try it.

Amazing food, calm place, excellent coffee. Perfect breakfast place.

Nice relaxed vibe with outdoor seating and very friendly service. Good prices and food though food could have been a bit hotter.

New owners but beautiful service, friendly and warm, great coffee and tasty cakes. Highly recommended

Bad experience. I order a Breaky Salad which is half a bag of spanich thrown in the bowl with few grilled cherry tomatoes, half avocado and few leaves of kale. No quinoa could be recognised. It was like eating raw spinach. Not good at all. The person behind the counter apologised with " I am sorry about that" while approaching the EFTOS terminal. Coffee was good though.

Cute cafe. Inside and outside seating, including one big table inside that is good for groups. Nice latte and I enjoyed the yoyo biscuit. My sister had a brownie but thought it was a bit stale.

If you've run out of places to try in Richmond, make sure you haven't missed Little Berties Butcher, BBQ & Cafe. The butcher is located at the shop front facing Swan St, but walk down the laneway to the side to find their BBQ & Cafe out the back, facing the open car park. If you're lucky, you'll arrive at a time when their BBQ is in full swing and slow cooking some delicious meats for which they are becoming known for.

With all of their produce locally sourced within Australia (including their steak which has received awards), you have the option of purchasing their products from the butcher (in raw meat form, or try their other pantry ingredients and house made products on display) or tasting them freshly prepared in the rustic cafe out the back.

Being Berties Butcher since 1871, current owner Jason (who you may see running things in the front butcher shop) has owned this venue for 7 years now, and soon after he decided to add the BBQ & Cafe. Wanting to give customers another option through which to experience the humble and down-to-Earth hospitality of the Little Berties family, this also gives them the opportunity to try their range of locally sourced and hand made products, ranging from house made pies, ready-made meals, steaks, schnitzels, chips, jar sauces, and so much more.

The cafe offers basic breakfast wraps, sandwiches and pastries alongside Syndicate coffee, as well as smoked and slow-cooked meats, which can be ordered as a main meal with sides, or in a burger/sandwich. Whether you come here to dine in or take away, you can't help but enjoy the friendly banter you will share with the staff, nor will you be disappointed with the casual breakfast or lunch meal you order.
For a simple meal that comes at an affordable price, or if you are needing some ingredients to do some cooking at home, I would recommend visiting Little Berties.

Friendly eatery, love their meats, this is a friday lunch place for something dirty and naughty. So tasty though and their salads are fresh, love the breadroll, i always go for slow cook meat because its my personal favourite, however have tried their sausages before and just as awesome. Also theres a pita pocket place opened up closer to the corner hotel end and they are also amazing, turned out the owner of Berties also partly own that place, no wonder the brisket tastes so good

My first introduction to little Bertie’s was ‘a place that served all you could possibly want in a meal’ for a great price of 15 dollars. I was impressed by the concept of their lunchtime special- one serving of meat plus vegetables and a bread roll but slightly lacking in sauces.

I tried out their delicious lamb sausages with a side of steamed broccoli.
Good Food, Good Mood
Hidden between Swan St and the East Richmond station train line is Little Berties... and you can smell it standing 50m away. If you love meat, go here. Service is nice and attentive too, even during the busy Friday lunch rush.

I ordered the pulled pork with apple sauce, with roasted veggies as a side. Definitely get the slaw, it's fresh and a massive portion. I agree with the other review that says you won't leave this place hungry.

Cute little place for weekday lunch. Had a pulled pork brioche burger which was quite nice, and was just the right portion on its own. The service and friendly and warm, and I loved the ambience - relaxed and tucked away. Coffee is decent but not the best on Swan street, but then again being there back of the butcher shop, they're more about the meat.

If you like pulled meat, like pork or lamb, you should give this place a try. They served great pulled meat in a sandwich or as part of a main with a side dish. They do change the menu every now and then though. As for my latest visit, i had a chicken breast with roasted vegies. It's pretty good and the roasted vegie was excellent. The price tag was pretty good for that such a serve.

This place is solid if you have a hankering for some pulled pork or other meaty goodness. Sit out the back in the sun, if you get a table they get busy, and enjoy some simple but delicious food. Pricing seems about right. Not over delivering but not under either. You won't leave hungry.

When they bring you steak knifes for your meal you know you have some carving to do. Small cafe next to East Richmond Station serving a small menu and home style cooking. A generous serve of the pork belly with apple sauce and choice of sides for a very reasonable price.

Delicious food and friendly service. The beef brisket sandwich and Mac & Cheese with bacon were great. Not bad Syndicate coffee as well. Will definitely be back!

Great quality food. The menu is always fantastic. I've had a few amazing meals at this place. My only issue is that they don't open on the weekend. Excellent and friendly service.

We bought 2 chickens from you on xmas eve. We took them straight home and put then in the fridge ready to cook up for xmas lunch. We pulled them out to prepare for lunch and when we pulled out of the bag both chickens smelled rather bad, there is no way we can cook and serve these so thanks Berties Buthcher for ruining our Christmas I hope no one else gets bad chickens like us.

I was only given the hot tip on this little joint a few days ago, and what a ripper that turned out to be. The bacon and egg wrap was outstanding and the coffee that followed was exactly as you would expect from a Melbourne barista.

Had a steak and one side of their salads (for $15) and it was just fantastic. As this place is the run by the butcher shop, their quality and quantity of meat is worth appreciating. Even on the discounted days in any given pub, the steak is around $15 and the quality of meat and salad is hardly something to rave about. Here, the meat is extremely tasty (juicier and cooked with care/attention) and even the salad is freshly made and is generously sized. Their collection of hot sauces on the tables are yummy as well. Highly recommended.

Little Bertie's (back of butcher) is one of the great lunch spots on Swan St. Different menu every day but all is good. Choice of usually 3 meat options and 3 sides/salads. Ribs, pulled pork, lamb koftas, casserole, pies, roast veggies, slaw and the best Mac and cheese with bacon ever!! It's like a home cooked meal at lunch, great atmosphere, super friendly staff and excellent coffee.

Charming little outfit in the courtyard, it was cosy and had a good vibe. Love the plants surrounding us, views of the trains, smell of the smoking bbq.

Three of us ordered the big brekkie, good portions but I wasn't too happy with the fried eggs that look like they were a little plasticky from being dry. Great bacon, teamed with Cumberland sausage, grilled tomato, homemade beans, mushroom and toast.

Coffee was good. Service was lovely.

Worth returning to try the famed BBQ lunches.

Best !. Had lunch at Bertie's today. The courtyard out the back is amazing. The sliders and two sides were so delicious and the closest to tasting American smoked style I've had in Australia.
The staff are friendly and fun and the service was amazing.
The coffee was a+ too. I am going back tomorrow to try the breakfast menu. I highly recommend this place.
Chasing A Plate
When a cafe sprouts from one of the best butchers in the city, you can be pretty sure that if you order meat, you won’t be let down. Specialising in organic, free range and grass fed meats, Berties Butcher have turned their hand to cooking up the produce in their windows at Little Bertie, a cafe, BBQ and beer garden at the rear of the butchery. ..
The Domestic Traveller
Quaint, delicious and a gem to find, Little Bertie’s Cafe is one that is sure to both delight and amaze you...

They also do brekkie! Today I went with pulled pork where I built a sandwich with the brioche roll that came with the dish. I may or may not have stuffed it too much deeming it total a photo fail.
