Review Spudbar - Richmond

Gary Chapman
Easily my favourite affordable eatery on Swan St. I ate here semi-regularly between 2015 and late 2019, and after an absence of 2 1/2 years I’m delighted to see they’re still open… and the new paint job has really brightened the place up too! The staff are unfailingly friendly, efficient and accommodating.

the chicken parma bowl was good with sweet potato base. Definitely filling for me who has a huge appetite. Would like to try more from the menu

Normally enjoy eatting at these spud bar establishment, but today's experience has put me off. Firstly ordered a chicken parma spud bowl and asked to substitute the bacon for other vegetables and the lady working said, they can't do that. As I have previously been to different locations around Melbourne I know it is not difficult request. Secondly the chicken prama was dead cold. Absolutely disappointing.

Had a wonderful time at Spud Bar Richmond. One of the staff there Marcel, was absolutely delightful. He really made us feel at home with his food recommendations and excellent table service. Highly recommend you come and check it out!

We had the greatest time getting lunch! We were served by Legnar who was incredibly helpful and kind! We couldn’t have asked for better food or service! A great place to go eat something with wonderful service.

Delicious! Big fan of Spudbar and I had a great experience at this store.

Ah what a really nice cosy place with amazing food, a spud bowl. A lot of fresh ingredients for a good price, very filling meal. Store is very small and can get tight at lunch time.

Amazing service. Gluten free Nutella brownies are amazing, seriously try. Snack spud with Bolognese, cheese and mushroom is a must try and siracha chicken was delicious as well. Very filling and priced well.

Love getting my healthy meal fixed at Spudbar. Today I got pulled pork with sweet potato $14.40. It came with baby spinach, corn, pea, tomato (I swapped with cabbage), sour cream and spring onion. The pulled pork tasted amazing. I enjoyed it a lot

Serving great varieties of tasty warm spuds in a fast food style, Spudbar was an excellent lunch option. The portions were massive and the service quick, making their meals a great value.

The staff were reasonably friendly. No complaints, but a Hello, would have been nice. I ordered a Moroccan Chickpea & Kale, and took a photo of the presentation. Impressed. Sadly, I noticed some of the reviews stating their potatos were mushy. I have a sweet potato and have to AGREE. I took a photo of how mushy it is.

You cant call it a spud....if its ...a chunky dip.

Wasnt impressed in the end.

Wont be back.

Spudbar has to be one of my favourite places for a quick and satisfying, affordable meal. The range of options on the menu is huge - there’s something for everyone! I always prefer to customise my own sweet potato spud - there’s just something about the way they cook their sweet potatoes that makes it so creamy and sweet, and not at all watery. My favourite toppings are the Moroccan chickpea and the hummus - definitely try the hummus! Portions are huge and I always feel happy and full after every visit. Would definitely recommend!

Can't go wrong with a spud. Not sure why this venues doesn't have a higher rating. Always fresh, always tasty and friendly staff which is always a bonus. Don't be a spud and if you enjoy spud bar, give them the rating they deserve!

Hawaiian sweet potato spud! A nice big bowl. Show your gym membership and get 10% off. Fresh tasty ingredients mmmm. Friendly staff. A great place to eat in or takeaway!

Have been to Richmond spudbar a few times now. The toppings are very inconsistent. A couple of the staff are good, where they ask you if you need any extras. I was there yesterday and didn't enjoy very much. Its just not the potato you eat because its called spudbar, you need toppings to make it taste good. Hope the staff know this. Very disappointed

Have been to the Richmond store a few times over the last year and it just keeps getting worse.
The staff tonight were just awful, slow and uninterested.
The potatoes themselves were awful tasting, they were mushy in a bad way and had a really nasty after taste.. i had the greek lamb spud and ended up picking all the cucumber off as it was dried out and yellowing from being left out all day, possibly even longer I'd assume!
The toppings are consistently underwhelming and very often just plain gross.

The staff here are beyond friendly and always willing to help you choose if you can't decide! Definitely my favourite place to eat on swan street!

Like the concept, Not a bad take away option if in a hurry, opted for a nice healthy combo with plenty of vegetables and some pork and thought that it was pretty reasonable in terms of taste and price. *note got takeaway, eating in may have improved rating

I love me some spudbar and this is no different! I love that their menu is now (has been for awhile) 100% gluten free! So good. The mexican chilli chicken on a sweet potato is my all time favourite and I always come back to it. Try it and you will be converted! They often have promotions and vouchers too which make it even cheaper and better value.

Off pineapple on potato!. Just had a Hawaiian potato and tasted a 'fizzy' taste all the way through and a slight whiff of a alcoholic smell. The last few mouthfuls I realised the pineapple tasted off; old and mushy. My stomach is churning now, not good and overpriced to boot.
Llupone
Grossly overpriced, skimpy on ingredients. Today I payed 12 $ for the pulled pork and there was no pork just the gravy. I told the staff and they refunded me 3 $ for the ladel. Grossly over priced meal and blatant thievery.

First time I've had spud bar and I was pleasantly surprised. Love the fact you can build your own. Had mixed pot and sweet pot with a slow cooked lamb, cheese and pumpkin and it was great. Will be back again

Pretty unfriendly and not great value, especially the small take away boxes my spud was packed in.

Could be better..... Every time I have Spud Bar in Richmond there is something I don't enjoy about it, though there is not much choice on Swan Street for a semi-healthy lunch. Firstly the staff are horrible at chopping a spud. Half the time the feta has an off taste as if it has not been stored correctly. The mushrooms are raw, they'd be much nicer sautéed or something... The bacon is not crispy at all and on that note it is stored cold which is not very tasty. Their sauces are bland. Some of the staff there act like they absolutely hate their job. Wouldn't recommend.

Festivus - Dont get it. Just don't get the stuffed potato thing!
very bland and boring

Certainly not worth the money. Highly disappointed!

At nearly $11 for a jacket I was expecting a top notch meal.
At minimum I was expecting what I ordered: Crispy Bacon & Tasty Cheese.
The bacon couldn't have been further from crispy - chunks of cheap ham is more appropriate. And tasty cheese? There was no taste to the cheese at all and the texture was awful, Subway serve a tastier cheese!
To top things off the spud itself was remotely warm and not a degree above that.

The portion size was decent, granted, but the quality was way off the mark.
If you want an average meal, this would be fine if it were priced as an average meal, but it's not.

Over priced average eatery.

Worst Jacket Potatoe - EVER.. I'm at a loss as to how so many people like this style of jacket potato...
I ordered the "Cheese & Bacon" Potato, expecting a lovely hot potato with crispy warm bacon and melted cheese... what I got... well... I was just plain confused...

Started with a smushed warmish & under seasoned potato on the bottom... then cold cheese and cold (yes, cold) bacon.... getting weird now and here's were it just gets silly... 3 massive serves of mushrooms (raw), baby spinach, and coleslaw on top and a dollop of sour cream.

Yeh, it was kinda healthy... but I wanted a jacket potato... and sadly that is not what I got. Until next time... wait, there won't be one.

Yumm!. Nice food, come here at least weekly for a treat. incredibly expensive though for what it is, still I like it.

Spudbar is absolutely amazing. I usually go for the sweet potatoe with the chickpea, lentil and dahl toppings. It's delicious! The staff are usually pretty good/friendly and the food wa such a suprise. Any foodie needs to give this place a try!

Ordered the Moroccan Chicken and when I got it it didn't have one piece of chicken...told the staff and they didn't care one bit. Disgraceful

LOVE LOVE LOVE Sweet potato= low GI + potassium!! Makes spudbar even that little bit better!! Love this place, the food and the staff. Makes you feel full without feeling 'fat' full.

Simply amazing. You just cannot beat Spudbar for a healthy (mostly) meal.
My favourite is the 'chilli, bacon and bolognaise' spud, which will leave you satisfied but not as full as some other takeaway places.
Great value.

I can't find reason for not to love spudbar. You can go all out trying different toppings on the nicely baked spuds! A must try is sweet potato, it adds a new dimension to the spuds!

Agreed - the pumpkin & fetta salad is delicious!

Roast Pumpkin Salad. It is the best roast pumpkin salad ever!!!! it is healthy and delicious. Totally recommended !

Best potato spud we've ever had. We expected a simple baked potato with a bit of filling in between, what we got was an array of choice similar to when you are deciding on a pizza topping! My husband had the Malay beef curry spud and I had the classic spud which had cheese, bacon, sour cream and chives - both served in bowls and chopped up so the flavour filled every piece of potato. Best comfort food when it is bucketing down with rain in melbourne.

Spud bar is the best version of a baked potato I have experienced. They offer every imaginable topping option from home made hot Italian sauces to corn and spinach, and of course the usual sour cream etc. Great prices and a healthy option for take away.

Spudbar is one of what I would refer to as a 'Boost'-style eatery chains. They take a simple concept, execute it efficiently, if not spectacularly, and make it clean, accessible and 'funky'.
