Review Thai Ayothaya - Richmond

Tasha
Excellent service!! Authentic, delicious food at a great price. Chef is so lovely and when you dine it there are complimentary entrees and desert if it’s quiet. The maître d gives patrons a bell to notify when you’re ready to order, so when it’s busy you don’t have to wait for a server.

My friend and I ordered medium-spicy vegetarian noodles for the first time at thai style restaurant. The taste was marvellous. The chef and staff was courteous to cater all the reservations and asked us and made sure about everything we wanted and didn't want in our dish.
Maddy Bell
I literally had to call them to confirm that I wasn’t reading the family deal wrong. So much food for $48, I was in disbelief. When it turned up it was delicious and good quality food. In under 30 minutes! New favourite spot close to home.

Best Thai Food on Richmond. This is our go to place for Thai food. Always very fresh, clean and never greasy. Very polite and attentive staff. Unassuming from the front but delicious food and great value.
Michael Boyer
Food tastes good. Pad Thai quite nice red curry ok. Beef skewers came cold. Take away took 15 minutes longer than indicated on app Sunday night

Bit skeptical before ordering but was pleasantly surprised with the flavours, quality, quantity and freshness of the three dishes we ordered as take away. Highly recommended.
Joanne Lung
The food is always served fast, in generous portions and pretty tasty and is great value for money. Our work buddies come here often for a quick bite and it's amazing to get a takeaway cooked lunch for $8 anywhere in Richmond.

The best service and thai food i've had in Melbourne, have been going there for years! They delivered my food free today when I realised they had moved locations and I didn't check, which was so kind of them. This is a lovely family business and will continue to be a regular. And they accommodate for vegans very well! :)

My partner and I had some take away from here and the food was excellent.

To be honest I wasn’t really that hungry, shhh lol. But when the food hit the table and I smelt everything I was suddenly really hungry.

The vegetarian spring rolls were delicious, golden, crispy and full of flavour.

The green chilli rice was vacuumed too fast hahaha and the dim sims were very yummy and so fresh..

My chicken w rice noodles was excellent, and the serving was very generous and I ate the lot!!

This place is a must visit, if you want some really moorish food.

Amaaaaazing and authentic Thai food to be had. We tried the pad thai, pad see ew, green curry and jungle curry (w coconut rice) and everything was absolutely delicious! Service was prompt and the food came out quickly. I can’t rave about this place enough!
Sandra Mitchell Canil
This laidback little Church Street eatery provides a friendly service, where meals are whipped up very quickly. The lunch-time menu makes it a cheap choice, with prices averaging $13 per person, plentiful in size, with rice at no extra cost. It is byo wine and no corkage is added (a rarity). Unfortunately the food is a bit lacking in the delightful flavours that Thai food can offer when it is really good. As it stands, there is nothing to complain of, yet nothing to rave about either.

I love this restaurant. can you please add roti bread and satay
to your menu on uber eats??? It currently isn’t there
Leung May
The Boss is super nice, we arrived when they are not open, but he still let us in and take a seat!
Good food, a bit on the sweet side to cater our Aussie taste. We said we’d go get a BYO wine but the Boss offered a free bottle.
We enjoyed his welcoming service.
好味道+好服務🤗
The Muesli Addict
Tom yum prawn soup was really bad. They didn't have any other beverages other than canned drinks, not even thai milk tea. The green curry chicken and sizzling hot plate tofu weren't too bad.
Clement Lee
Decent Thai food but price is somewhat steep and misleading. Came in here for their advertised $11.50 lunch special, ordered a simple chicken fried rice noodle which was shown as $12 on the menu. Was billed for $12.50, didn't have cash so had to pay by my savings card and they added another $1 as surcharge. Final bill came to $13.50. Not sure if I will come back to this place.

I love this place. Its cozy and comfortable with a bunch of delicious options. Chicken laksa, green curry or red, you choose it and you get it perfectly cooked and so delicious. Only issue is that you gotta reach early for a lunch, if not then you may have to wait for 15-20 mins to get a seat.
Snowflower
Definitely order the chicken pakra pao, if you can eat a bit of spice. The green prawn curry on rice was super yummy too. Only gripe was, we were seated at the table next to the door which was not an auto-close door. So whenever someone opened the door, we’d be subjected to a draft of cold breeze, and we’d have to stand up to close it. Maybe an automatic door might be the solution.

Cozy restaurant, very friendly staff and service is as good. Simple menu and the food was really nice and came out quickly.
Ps. Very handy if you're waiting for the next train! Lol
Louise Miller
Burnt food, tasted terrible - disappointing

I came here for lunch and the food was burnt - you could smell it was burnt before it even arrived at the table. It then tasted pretty disgusting and I felt poorly after. Based on this experience I could not recommend; the service was fine.
Sarah
I often get delivery from here but decided to sit in for a change. The chicken prawn dumplings were HUGE and a very unique taste compared to anything I’ve tried before. The spicy rice dishes are always good so you can’t go wrong!
Nicole
Thai is one of my favourite treats and Thai Ayothaya did not let me down.
I ordered beef with black bean sauce and coconut rice. The beef with black bean sauce was cooked to perfection and full of flavour, with a generous amount of vegetables aswell. The rice was also lovely and soft.
Service was friendly and the wait time for take away was only 15-20 minutes which I thought was reasonable.
I would highly recommend this restaurant and would return to try other dishes.
HANNAH
I like how this eatery serves food with big portion. My dinnermate and I ordered a padthai and tomyum fried rice to share and boy, they tasted great and authentic! Their portions were so huge that we both couldn't finish our meals (two main dishes might be good for sharing amongst three people). Their thai milk tea came with a big serving too!
Anthony
Not bad... but I've had better ones in other Thai restaurants nearby. Good and friendly service though. Will be back next time if I am around the corner and hope they improve on their food.
Nick X Thomson
Good food, friendly service.

Was pleasant and satisfying but nothing hugely memorable. Visit if you’re in that area and have a hankering for Thai cuisine.
Uroldoc
Okay but staple suburban far will find it hard to cut it with evolving thai cooking in Melbourne
All the classics but done as perfunctory
You know the drill- lots of cream and coconut milk, ask for spicy but never gets there
Cheraag.s
Decent Thai place. Their lunch deals are decently priced. However, over time the quantity has slightly decreased but still is more than what other restaurants offer in the area.

You have to try the chilly fried rice by swap the regular chicken pieces for crispy chicken for an extra $3.
Don Djoe
Great food and it came out with good portion. I have been here quite a number of times and so far I always came out happy and full. Their pad kra pow is the best in the area and it is what I had today. There were a few things that I wish they had done though. First, it would be good if they take cards. Second, there was no pork, and lastly they could've make the spicy food spicy. Overall though it is still a good restaurant.

Went for dinner with a large (20 or so) group on a Saturday night. The shop isn't large, so I'd say seating capacity at about 25-30 total, and that's if you are friendly. But they do a roaring takeaway trade so keep that in mind. Decor is simple. Seats are simple, food is good. And they were accommodating with the orders. For example, we ordered a seafood Pad Thai, a chicken one arrived. No issues with getting it swapped over. Though obviously with a large group, be prepared to help them out when putting the dishes on the table by directing towards who ordered what.

All the food was pretty good, though I especially liked the red-curry. It was creamy, which, while I know it's the mildest Thai Curry, I often find that the creaminess is overwhelmed by spices. The BBQ chicken salad was really good value and the sauce on it was great. Spring rolls were the large ones! So instead of getting a zillion little ones you got four really good sized ones. The crab claws were tasty as was the salt and pepper squid. The sauce for the chicken dumplings got kept to put on other dishes. The Pad Thai was good. It had a nice smokiness to the flavour that really helped to emphasis it. I find that I prefer that flavour of Pad Thai but don't often get it. We also had the lamb filets, which some on the table reported were salty but I thought were okay.

As said, service was good and prices were reasonable. If I'm in the area again, I'd definitely consider them for take away.
Adhya
I request for extra spice Pad Krapao and turn out very delicious and I can say it so close to authenthic...just missing the fried egg like I uses to have while in Bangkok. Also tasted Beef Soup Noodles, it was yum with great portion of beef and vegetables. Service can be better, cash only and paid parking off street. They have Halal signs in the shop which is a good news since not many restaurants in this area have this option.
Jeeth John
Food was good. I was expecting a bit on the spicier end when I ordered spicy thai noodles, but it didn't satiate my palate. Nevertheless the food was good. No alcohol and they don't accept cards.
Angela Yen
The food was ok. We had to go to find someone to come and order to us. (The chef had to come out to order) The waitress face is so bad. Never smile. And when we ask something she just don't answer. She would just stay back at the counter. Also the attitude is really bad.
James McLaren
Heaps of fresh vegetables and protein. Big meals and great value for money. Relaxed atmosphere and friendly staff. Highly recommended! Recommend satay chicken.
Benji
The good thing about Thai food is that you don't have to pay a lot of a quality meal. You can get a great pad thai here. Staff could be a bit better but have no issues about the food.
Shrek Oh
Not bad had to ask 4 it hotter thou ...
Staff 3
Food 4
Service 4
Decor 3
Reminded me off a place I ate breakfast at in desibol Thailand every day
1 suggestion watch the bitterness in tom yum
Not that busy but had a lot of thai clients that seemed to be happy
I would give them another try

We had a chance to order via UberEats last night from Thai Ayothaya. We ordered springrolls, satay chicken skewers, pad Thai and laksa curry for two persons.

Menu strikes good balance on pricing point and quantity. Food is too much for two persons. Especially mains. I guess we should have ordered just one main.
Satay Chicken was awesome with peanut sauce.

Mains were too sweet for our taste. Being south Indians we love our food hot and spicy but makes up for taste.
Pad Thai was little bland.

They send food covered preserving warmth which we liked most and does not need to reheat in this cold weather. Recommended this restaurant for good Thai food if you have sweet pallet.
Duygu
Absolutely awful. We ordered through Ubereats. Penang curry was basically tough chicken pieces swimming in a can of coconut milk. No vegetables, nothing. Pad thai was greasy and stale, the tofu pieces tasted like they were deep fried last year. I don't know how this place gets anything above 1 star. Mind blowingly bad.

This place used to be called Bangkok Cafe a year ago and the food there was average at best. The new owner/management/chef knows his/her stuff and has designed a menu that is diverse enough without breaking the $11.50 mark for most lunch dishes. The quality is very close to authentic and the quantity will make you feel full until dinner time. The service is quick and dishes are yummy. I recommend Pad See Ew, Spicy Thai Noodles, Tom Yum w/noodles and Thai-style Laksa from here and make sure you ask for their assortment of Thai chilli-oils/sauces. We've been dining here at least three times a week for past couple of months and never felt disappointed.
Lin Liu
I have ordered the Pad Thai which is very sweet, and the veg and rice noodle looked not very fresh.
The price is not high and quantity is a lot that you can not finish it.
Michael
Avoid. Way overpriced. Ordered three dishes off the menu, one was no longer available, the pad thai was gluggy and bland, and the grilled calamari at $20 was an incredibly small portion, which turned out did not matter because it was so overcooked and just lying on a few pieces of expired lettuce it was inedible. Would not eat from here ever again.
LifestyleByLily
Not impressed that I had to pay a surcharge to use my card!
In this day and age, we should not have to pay to use card, otherwise, just accept cash only.
I wish I could say my Green Curry was worth it but it seriously lacked chicken, it was mostly veg.
Wont be returning!
Telyawhat
Got this delivered to us through Deliveroo. We got a curry and a noodle dish. Both were average - not amazing, but not horrible. With all the delicious Thai restaurants in Melbourne, we won't be eating here again.
Cupcake Lover
Ordered online, coconut rice was dull, tasted like cornflower. Penang curry totally lifeless and the soft shell crab salad and absolutely no substance, no spice, soggy crab and ended up throwing it all in the bin, total waste of money. Never will order again from them even if I live in the same street and it easy.
Ishas14
Horrible Food! I ordered Laksa and Spring role through uber eats and it was a such a disappointment, The food had no taste at all and top of that found a hair in it. Would never ever order again.
J0yy173
Order one dish, eat for two! Such generous portions that I had to ask for a doggy bag. The red curry fried rice with duck tasted as good as it smelled. The chilli and basil dish was full of flavour. Polite service in a practical setting that was bigger than I'd expected.
OmNom
Loved this little Thai place on Church Street close to Swan street corner.

We ordered two entrées and two mains and that was way too much food for two people.

The salt and pepper squid was one of the best I’ve had. Each piece was full of flavour and the crunch coating was perfecting done. Very generous serving for an entrée (equivalent to a normal main size in my opinion).

The Satay Chicken entrée was equally generous with four large skewers smothered in satay sauce. The satay sauce was lightly too sweet for my preference, but we still enjoyed it.

Pad Thai with Prawn was delicious. Large fresh prawns cooked to perfection with a good crunch. I was so excited to dig into it I forgotten to take a picture.

BBQ lamb pieces were also tender and flavoursome. We thoroughly enjoyed everything. Friendly service and highly recommended.

Walked in here with my boyfriend and it was a bit random as the first person to say hi to us was sitting down eating with a bunch of people on the only occupied table. But the place looked good (except the random cute animal pictures on the walls) I had a Thai salad which was actually really nice and refreshing & my bf had pepper beef, which was good but the vegetables were all separate than the beef so they had no flavours on them. Other than that it was pretty good ✌🏻

Ordered through Menulog for lunch based on glowing reviews.. ordered the chicken massamun curry, tofu and vegetable Penang curry, and coconut rice.
The chicken massamun curry consisted of a handful of chicken thigh pieces, floating in watery sauce. No potato, no creaminess.. incredibly disappointing. The Penang curry was OK, but lacked the punch a Penang normally has. The coconut rice was incredibly gluggy and I could see the coconut milk condensed in between the solid mass of the rice. Maybe you need to dine in to experience the great food reported in the other reviews.
FOOD TRIP
Ayothaya Thai is a cute little Thai eatery located right next to East Richmond train station. Clean and comfy dining area with a substantial menu with all the usuals of Thai cuisine. Food was delicious and service was great. Also very popular with take away too. Would recommend. Freezo Green Tea $5.50

Kao pad khai. You know it's the real deal when each bite transports you back to those years you lived in Thailand. The simplest of dishes, yet a sheer indication of authenticity... Egg fried rice. Served with lemon (in Thailand it would be a lime) wedge, and some soy sauce with cut chilli. We enjoyed the roast duck salad and cashew chicken too, but egg fried rice was the unexpected hero. Got the Thai iced tea and thought it too milky - not enough zing.. The teas in Thailand are much more powerful and thick. Altogether a pretty good experience.

We came here on a Living Social coupon. Hands down the BEST value coupon I have ever used, and I've used a lot. These guys were amazing, brilliant service, food portions and taste great and the soft shell crab was delicious. I almost felt bad about the amount of food we ate at the quality and paid next to peanuts. It's a very unassuming restaurant and I guess with so much competition in Melbourne it doesn't receive the accolades it should. I would eat there everyday if I could. Even without coupons, it's very good value. I'll definitely be back and back and back...
Belle
Thai Ayothaya was really good! Such good service and food! Really happy with the total experience and ill definately come back again soon! 😊

I ordered Thai fried rice and sizzling hot pot to be delivered. They delivered on time and the food was delicious. I will definitely order from them again and recommend their food to anyone that loves Thai food.
Nick The Greek
While the service was a bit patchy the food certainly made up for it. The red curry chicken was great as was the BBQ Style Lamb dish. Coconut rice are big size servings. And of course the Singha was ice cold.
Adrian 'El Tubbo' Koukoulas
Have had dinner and a quick lunch. Service is very attentive and produce is fresh. Lunch menu is extremely good value for money.
Green and red curry are extremely flavoursome, but the standout is the pad thai.
Came here on a Tuesday night. The restaurant was half full. Service was friendly and prompt. The food came out quickly and was nice. Had a glass off the merlot. Enjoyed dinner, and I will be back..

I ordered green curry (chicken), pad thai and fish cake. They were delivered to my house a bit late due to peak hour traffic. We phoned the staff several times to check and they were so nice about it. They gave us 2 free drinks to apologize for the late delivery. All dishes were tasty, would be better if we go to the restaurant though. Overall, a very pleasant meal.
Pd Sridhara
Love the lunch deals here! The Thai curry was really fresh and the flavors were spot on :) Can't wait to come back for more and try the entree! The ambience is good too!
Luke Pham
Fantastic little restaurant! The food here is delicious and the owners are so friendly. We always have the Massaman Curry and Pad Thai as our go to dishes and it always delivers. Would highly recommend.

I will put this into dot points as there were so many things that went wrong with our order Sunday 13th Dec.
*Ordered at 7:10pm through Suppertime

*Expected delivery 7:50pm

*Called / followed up with store directly at 8:10pm and was told was leaving store in 10 minutes

*Called / followed up again with the store at 8:40pm and was told it was next in line to be cooked and what was previously advised was actually a guess and that he hadn't checked what order we had asked about on the last phone call. He said he was too busy to check. He then said it would be 15 minutes to cook from now and he wasn't sure how long to deliver and we could not cancel with him, only cancel through Suppertime.

*Delivered 940pm

Further to the above, half of our orders arrived not as requested.

*Pad see ew - asked for veg & tofu, came with no tofu

*Veg Massaman - asked for no tofu, came with tofu and vegetables yet no potato??

*Chicken green curry - came with tofu and chicken and was watery??

*Ordered coconut rice and got normal jasmine

Order came with 4 drinks that we had not ordered - I assume to make up for the almost 2 hour delay.

We were not updated once, via text, email or phone. By the time we made our second phone call to the restaurant it was too late to cancel and reorder with someone else.

Will not be ordering from here again.
Gavin
We had a red curry with chicken and pad khing beef with rice. The food was all pretty tasty, but the rice a little overdone. The serving sizes were a bit small compared to other thai deliveries. Unfortunately the delivery took way too long - was meant to arrive at 7:20 but we got it closer to 8. They gave a free can of drink to compensate.
Emma Jones
We had a lovely dinner.
The green curry was so yum! And the pineapple paradise was great as well. Very friendly staff. Will defiantly come back 😀
Dennis Vegan
Fresh and authentic, that's what you get here. While things might be a bit slow at lunch time, its worth the wait for the food. I have found few places that consistently deliver a high standard of yum!
SherSher
Visited for the first time last night with a group of 12 others. They were so accommodating, the food was cheap, fresh and delicious! Really lovely service.
Erin Boyd
Walked into this quaint looking place, smelt good. Tables were covered in dirty dishes, took many mintues to even be asked if we would like a table and all they did was push the dirty plates into one table and then pulled a small gap to separate the tables. The entire time we were here the tables were never cleaned!!! We had to sit between dirty dishes for our entire meal. I wanted to walk out but my good nature felt bad because we already ordered that I did not get up and walk out. Staff don't seem to care.

Delicious, cheap and lovely service!. We live around the corner from Cafe Bangkok and ordered online last night. The food was ready in 15 minutes, hot and steaming and full of spice and flavour. The manager is also always so delightful to deal with! Thank you - again!
Kidneymaster
Delicious!. The food is excellent and the staff very friendly. We have travelled to Thailand a number of times and this restaurant serves authentic Thai food unlike most of the other so called Thai restaurants in Melbourne. A must for anybody who wants a true taste of Thailand.
Dbd
Excellent take-out/ delivery. Food tastes fresh & full of flavour. Highly recommend.
Henry Rodriguez
Customer service needs a huge improvement.
I had to ask 3 times for water..

The only positive would be the food.
Shil1402
Take Away. Despite the 90 minute wait for delivery the food was reasonably good. Green curry was tasty and spicy, pad Thai and the chicken rice were both solid.
Andrew
Great place. Wonderful food. Service was excellent. Made me feel at home.
LJ
From outside the signage appeared to look dated but upon entering the restaurant we were hit with modern decor. We chose chicken stir fry with oyster sauce accompanied with coconut rice. The stir fry was a decent size for two ppl and wasn't drowning in sauce, definitely would order it again. Served on the side we shared roti bread with peanut sauce. That peanut sauce! Hmmm! For drinks we tried their Thai milk tea, not bad! Service was good and staff were very friendly. Answered any questions we had and when we paid were treated with chocolates!

The Personal Touch. Not knowing anything about this restaurant we booked it sight unseen to have a meal after the football. What a find! Not only was the decor pleasant with top quality food, but we were met and welcomed by the owner and then he personally escorted us to the door and held it open when we left......unheard of these days. We'll definitely be back, plenty of food for the money and service with a smile!! Sue & Shane
Zeyeiao
Amazing thai food (what all thai should taste like!) Service was friendly, I could see the care being put into my food & iced tea. Would come back to Richmond just for this. Thanks Cafe Bangkok!
Bish
Does what it says above the door. This isn't a fancy restaurant; this is a café that serves quality Thai food at a reasonable price in a clean and tidy setting.
3 of us ate and all had our expectations surpassed.
The TomYum fried rice, I would go so far as to say, was the best friend rice I've ever had - highly recommend this dish!
Rabdi
Excellent food, delivery comes piping hot.
Zoe
Came for lunch today, was the best decision I made all day! I got the yellow beef curry and rice lunch deal and my boyfriend got chicken fried rice. Both meals (plus coffees) came in about 5 minutes, and were both delicious with some very high quality ingredients. I am pedantic about meat quality, and I was very pleased! A nice chilled out vibe with booths, pillows and calming music. Wasn't very busy so was a nice escape. Will definitely be coming back! Oh and another big plus, all of our meals added up was under $25! Couldn't believe it! Great little find.

Best Larp Gai in twon. Had dinner there tonight and ordered Larp Gai (minced chicken salad). I can say this is the best Larp Gai I had. It was soon yummy!!!
The waitress is also really lovely. I think they deserve a good review!
I will certainly go back!
Sam S
Do yourself a "flavour" and try the chocolate milkshake. Amazing. But more importantly, the food is great too! Excellent price point, friendly service and always consistent in quality. One of our fave lunch spots.
Yokomiko62
New chinese owner. Went there last night for dinner sadly the owner has change, now run by chinese and the foods that we have was not the same anymore. that was waist of money. never go back again.
Renee Lee
Had dinner there last night with my partner. We were very surprised by how nice the food was, authentic and very fresh. The waitress, Ahrm (not sure if that's how she spells her name) was so lovely and attentive. We ordered two glasses of wine and received far more than normal served. Loved the food (trust me, both my partner and I are fussy with food). I don't normally write restaurant reviews unless they are very bad or exceeds my expectation. I think Cafe Bangkok deserves a good review. The only thing I would suggest to the owner is to improve the decor when they can afford it. I will certainly come back again.
Zokki12
Little Treasure. Had dinner here last night heard that they had great food..... All I can say is OMG the best Thai food I have had outside of Thailand. Food so good am taking a friend there for dinner tonight.
Spearamum
Best satay ever!. What a treat to discover this little treasure trove of tasty delights. Terrific service and the most amazing satay sauce made by Apple - what a cook! I will definitely return.
J
Under rated local. This unassuming little Thai restaurant is nestled amongst much competition near Swan St but is like a quiet achiever, its never loud or brassy, it's dishes are all subtly yum tastic, the staff are all courteous and friendly and it has a surprisingly cocktail range that is also not pricey. The ambience is cosy and suited for couples on a romantic date!
Redbw
Good. In house service is average. Foof is delicious.
Ethan Chaikijkosi
Food here was amazing.pad Thai is best i had for a long time.
Sam Adams
Best Thai around, consistently good, been many times!
Gregory Shaun Gallyot
Superb. My partner and I were strolling through Richmond looking for somewhere to have a quick wine and nibbles when we discovered this quaint, quiet plain looking restaurant.
We only had praise for it. From
The simple decor you would expect mediocre service but the staff are exceptional. Their warm smiles and attentive service is only surpassed by the quality of the food.
Highly recommended for so many reasons but I'll let you decide what you love about this place.
Liz Gosper
Delicious. The food here is absolutely fabulous. From the Roti bread, chicken satays, steak, service and even the wine list. It is fresh, great service, quick, this restaurant is a gem for Richmond. So lucky to live so close.
Missy
Did i miss something? This place is terrible!!. Ordered the coconut soup: oily and watery and bland.
Thai Green curry: Unbearably Salty and oily
Roti: So oily it nearly disintegrated the bag it was in.. peanut sauce oily and just generally unappealing.

Fish cakes: Chewy and microwaved.

To sum up the food that we ordered was totally inedible.

Wont be back.. EVER.
Richard
Great food with a smile. Love, love, love this place and wish that every restaurant was as friendly and value for money. We have tried most things on the menu and everything is delicious - my favourite is the duck pad thai but hard to choose between them. I don't want it to get too packed, but on the other hand I wish them every success and a full restaurant every night. Thanks to Café Bangkok for being great hosts and producing fantastic food. Pint at the GB Hotel and a meal here is a perfect night. Rx.
Laura
Amazing!. I love this place, the food is excellent and compared to other Thai restaurants, it's pretty cheap for such a high standard. Staff are really friendly too : )
Amy
Great value. Great food. Amazing, friendly waitress. $39 for entree and main for 2 ppl, rice and a glass of wine each- cant go wrong!

Best Thai in Richmond if not Melbourne. Super tender and fresh meat in their curries, fresh entrees, amazing taste. Add super friendly staff, and cheap it's top notch.
Kimberley J Clemens
My all time fave Thai.. I could eat here every day of the week. The food is always excellent and well priced. It has been closed for the summer holidays and is re-opening today. Excited. The food is delicious and very fresh.

Yum Yum. Great place, good taste, but average service.

Cafe Bangkok is our neighborhood now. I and my partner went here twice. Food was amazing. Surprising with the price of cocktail ( Mojito only $6 buck)
can't find elsewhere. Recommend

Like it. Food was great very similar taste with Thailand. Love the barramundi fish and fish froth salad which are very tangy and tasty.

A little cramped but the food was excellent. Groupon voucher utilised tonight. Small narrow restaurant with seats positioned to accommodate the maximum number of people. That aside the standard of the food was outstanding. Relatively small plates for mains (still by the end of our Banquet we had both had sufficient food) but the flavours were such that it could have been lick the plate time. Quite different to the run of the mill Thai dishes you receive at most Thai Restaurants. Staff welcoming and friendly. House wine (Chardonnay from Barossa) was above normal standard. Recommended.

CB is quite an expressive Ca.... CB is quite an impressive Cafe. The ambience leaves a little to be desired but the food n service more than make up for it. Highly recommended when you're next in Church.
Lee
Disapponited. Four of us went there with a voucher. Taste and service is OK. But the serve size is too small and they did not give us enough food as voucher showed. Very disappointed. The boss was not friendly. Maybe it because we used a voucher. Will not go anymore.

I’ve never encountered such rude, despicable and prejudiced service!!!! After purchasing a Groupon deal for two, i was told if I wanted to bring two toddlers (under three years old) there would be an additional $25 for charge for each, regardless if the children ate or not!!!!!!!!!!! ATROCIOUS!! As an avid restaurant enthusiast who relishes dining out frequently, especially with my family, I find the behaviour of this clearly novice, inexperienced manage, quite unrealistic, excessive, not to mention unprofessional. The manager also stated that he was quite happy for me to make my comments on Urbanspoon and said he didn’t care what feedback I wrote.

Many of my friends, family and colleagues regularly ask for my recommendations on eateries and this is one they will definitely stay clear of and I suggest you do the same!!!

It's not about the Food, it's the service.Rude Manager with no empathy for kids, it's all about the money,I have been asked to pay for infant and was told they cost money.never consider this
restaurant if you want to spend time with family

How Rude!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. Never ever will I eat at this place? Management so rude. I thought that people in the hospitality where suppose to care about their customer and reputation of their restaurant.
I guess the manager of this place does not care at all. Never have I felt like I have been treated like a 3rd class citizen until dealing with this place.

Good service,Great favors go with friend and share a bunch of dish. Recommend the tamarind duck&Gulf of Siam. Wash it all down with a nice sauv blanc. Would definitely go back there.

Keep up good work!!!. Nice little Thai cafe in Richmond , great ambient, friendly staffs, perfect lunch spot, and romantic for dinner. Sounds bias? well that's the truth about Cafe Bangkok IMO. Only weak point I can see is their consistency. If they can fix this problem, this place will become much more popular for us Richmond workers and locals.

Don't even bother. Just ordered take away. Worst green curry I have ever had and the roti had no flavour...

Food is nice but a little less salty would be better.

After a follow up phone call our food was delivered 35 mins after 'expected delivery time' and was lukewarm. To their credit, they were apologetic and dropped off a complimentary piping hot green curry and fresh roti within minutes of my phone call gripe. Despite the delivery debacle and microwave reheat of our first dishes, the food was delicious, so I'll give them another try.

We have a beef with the beef! Holy Cow! Never have we experienced such poor quality beef in our lives.

When we opened the box it was already NQR with the jerky looking feel and colour of the beef being pinkish, whitish and brownish. Notwithstanding this, we gave it a berl and to our surprise the initial taste was bland for the colour shown... but then that's when it hit us, a humungous and pungent dose of bicarb soda flavoured Mike Tyson punch exploded in our mouths which flowed through to our nostrils and eyes sockets. It was RANC and that is the nicest way we could put it.

We're surprised that when the beef (if that's what it's called) was placed into the wok that a small mushroom cloud didn't form in the shop.

Absolutely Fresh! 5/5!. The beef was tender and the vegetables, crisp and clearly very fresh (just full of flavour, and not over-cooked or rubbery).

The fit-out is amazing, the portion size generous and I love how they open early for Dinner
service. Usually, it's a compromise between nice decor and bad food, or bad decor and great
food. This place has everything and the prices are cheap for Richmond.

I'll be back, Cafe Bangkok!

Great authentic Thai. Fantastic new local Thai place next door to East Richmond railway station. Authentic Thai flavours with some interesting dishes not usually seen at regular Thai restaurants in Australia. Fun Asian desserts, great iced tea, and exceptional prices. Will be visiting Cafe Bangkok on a regular basis!

Bad service. Ordered delivery at 6:15 and didn't get my meal until 9:00pm. I called at 7:30 when they said it was on its way and still waited an hour and a half. By the time it arrived, the food was cold. Highly recommend if you want food from here eat in don't get delivery.

Cafe Bangkok. The Thai soups were excellent. Plenty of spice. I will definitely be going back. The Urbanspoon address seemed to be wrong for a bit which meant we got lost when trying to pick up takeaway but it seems to be fixed now- 468 Church St it is.
Delicious
Good lunches. I have been eating here once or twice a week for lunch lately. The food is really good, well priced and authentic. They make pretty good coffee too. The staff are friendly and the food doesn't take too long.

We visited the newly opened Cafe Bangkok last night. The staff were very friendly and attentive and promptly took our order. We ate a selection of entrees; (the soup and the chicken satay were stand outs). For main we ordered a whole crispy fish which had amazing flavours throughout and came covered in cashews, herbs, chilli and vegetables. Delicious!
