Review Monroe - Richmond

Jake Stollery
An absolutely gorgeous brunch place! Their menu is varied and exciting, with all the meals we saw being incredibly presented. The hotcakes were of particular of note with such a wonderful texture and taste. My only regret is not trying the smoothies as they sounded quite amazing! A highly recommend place! X

Absolutely loved this new cafe that looks so chic and glamorous, just as its name. The prawn fritters are so delicate and delicious. And the eggs are crispy on the outside and soft & gooey inside. I bet this place will attract the crowd & have people lining up on Sunday mornings in no time.

Nice menu, good coffee and friendly service. Presentation of the food is outstanding, but the choices we made lacked a little flavour. I was really looking forward to the poppy seed and lemon hotcakes, but they were a little bland. Likewise the coffee and banana Mascarpone sounded delicious, but tasted less inspiring. I will come back to try other options though as I like the look of the menu.

A modern cafe on Bridge road that offers delicious food . Great for breakfast, brunch & lunch and definitely a weekend to do . Yummy smoothies , breakfast bowls , eggs , croissants , bacon the lot ! 😋

Really pretty and comfortable cafe with good coffee and food. What more can I ask for a cafe? Would definitely recommend! Personally really liked the Banana Roti, different from the usual banana roti but taste amazing!

Ordered the Thai fried rice. It was very nice. The place is nice, not very busy on a Sunday afternoon. Customer service was top! Would recommend

Easy to miss but this small cafe is somewhere not to walk by. Delicious food that can’t be faulted, everything has flavour and you can taste and feel how fresh it is. Coffee is just as great as food whether it’s takeaway or dine-in.

Keep it light & fluffy with this gorgeous dish @monroe_richmond what a winner!

Foodies you should definitely get your forks around this dish.... Lemon & Poppyseed pancakes 😍❤️

I recently went to Monroe with a big group, very handy as they let us book a table! I had the ruby scramble which was good, I enjoyed the Asian dressing it came with on the side.

Lovely staff and good menu. Food came fast too.

Recommend the chilli scrambled and corn fritters.

Coffee is good too. Would definitely go again 😊👍

Lovely place to grab brekky. Tried their avo smash which is pretty good I must say. But the highlight for me would be the quality of the poached eggs. They do it so well. It’s very clear that they definitely know how to poach an egg and for me that’s important when picking a regular brekky place!!

In the age of aesthetic brunch-cafe interiors and 'pretty', innovative menus, Monroe does pretty okay. We ordered the Zen bowl with smoked salmon which had a good combination of flavour. I personally like there to be some warmth in the dish (everything was served cold), but that's just a personal preference. The Eggs Benedict, had basic classic flavours and was served on top of a croissant. Not bad.
Goodfoodpapi
Absolutely loved this place. Interior was literally goals. Had their hot cakes as well as their eggs benny on the croissant and loved both equally. Would highly recommend this place. Thanks team

Please don’t add ingredients to drinks/food that aren’t on the menu. Really challenging for people with severe allergies. It’s disappointing as the food was great. Recommend the eggs benny

Real rating 4.4 ⭐️

We had visited Monroe in Richmond and what a great experience this was! Here’s what we had!

Croissant benedict with rosti - this was a pretty good dish! Eggs were runny and croissant was pretty soft and crispy! The rosti was also very crispy and tasty!

Crispy banana roti - banana filled roti, pan fried with mascarpone, biscuit crumb and strawberries! Though simple looking, this shouldn’t be judged as it was one of the best roti I have ever had to date! The roti was like a pastry and melted in your mouth! The banana flavor wasn’t overpowering and worked well with all the other elements! This was my fave for the day as it surprised me how good it was!

Strawberry hotcakes - stacked with 3 layers, this was a combo to beckon with! Not only was it super fluffy but it was thick and yummy as! Moreover it was not overly sweet (my preference would have been sweeter) but this really hit the spot for me!

Overall, it was a great and fun time at Monroe and we would love to try the rest of their menu!

We were really looking forward to trying Monroe, but unfortunately the whole experience left us with a bad taste in our mouths.
Despite a promising menu, the food was unimaginative and ungenerous and the staff were very disinterested, almost rude.
I really wanted to enjoy the experience but wasn’t given much to work with.

Monroe was my first real Melbourne brunch experience. And boy did it set a good standard, especially in the porridge department.

I arrived, it was a cold wet day and all I wanted was a warm cuppa tea and a big bowl of oats. That’s exactly what I got.

The portion size was the best I have ever had. Never had a porridge brunch made me full before however this was literally huge. FULL MARKS. It was also super pretty.

The staff were ace and even though it was a miserable day the cafe still had fabulous atmosphere.

This place will forever be my first Melbourne Brunch 9/10

Monroe is one of my favourite cafes in Richmond. The interior is beautiful and food is incredible. Coffee is strong but really smooth. The corn fritters is the best I’ve had (super crispy), pancakes are fluffy and breaky bowl is amazing! Everything about this place is superb. Only thing difficult is parking as its a busy area but worth the effort :) thanks for having us everything was amazing
Sinfulorganiccook
One of our favorite local brunch places before hitting the nearby Gleadell market. Their menu is trimmed down but you can't go wrong with ordering anything here. Coffee I think is also one of the best and consistent in the area. Order the croissant Benny when you're here.
Srslyfoods
Great coffee and an excellent range of food for breakfast, brunch or just your afternoon break. The fit-out is very Marilyn Monroe '60's. Stylish and excellent.
Jess (@isthatmyfood)
Okay, let me tell you a lil secret. Monroe's Croissant Eggs Benny is the best item on their menu (obviously very biased!). I love croissants and I love eggs benedict AND they have COMBINED the two together!! I would travel across the seas for this dish. Monroe also has great smoothies, who doesn't love a good smoothie right??
EatPicLove
A brunch place with a unique Asian feel to it. Right in the heart of Richmond, the small quaint venue is modern on the inside and provides hospitality and flavours that welcome you in.
Morgs71
Up the quieter end of Bridge Road, Monroe is definitely one of my favourite Richmond cafes. The modern pink and marble fitout is spacious and comfortable, and dining here is such a pleasant experience.

On this occasion we chose the smashed avo with feta, and it was a delicious take on the classic. The new strawberry pancake stack were some of the best pancakes I've had at a cafe. The dish is simple, but with pancakes this good, sometimes simple is best. The strawberries and accompanying sauce were plentiful and zingy.

The staff are attentive and friendly, the coffee outstanding, and with an overall really good ambience, Monroe is recommended if you are visiting Richmond.
Harmony
First and foremost, I gotta say the Corn Fritters here are one of the best I’ve eaten, hands down. The Strawberry & Cream Pancakes were so fluffy and yummy. The Zen Bowl were like us eating the rainbow, it was so colourful. Coffee are nice and strong, just the way I like it. Nice interior and good service. Would recommend it to others!
Monroe is located on Bridge Road in Richmond. The fit out is gorgeous, lots of marble surfaces, pink tones & plants. It’s a lovely tranquil space & the menu is impressive.

We ordered smoothies & a few dishes to share. The smoothies arrived & were gorgeous & vibrant & so refreshing. The Monroe Dragon was bright pink with pitaya, mango, coconut water, OJ & raspberries, absolutely delicious. The Peachy Green smoothie was also fresh & full of flavour & the combination of kale, peach, mango, coconut water, ginger & honey worked really well.

The croissant eggs benny was a visually stunning dish. Served with spinach, bacon, poached eggs & hollandaise on a crispy toasted croissant, it was a sensational dish & we added some rosti for good measure.

The Japanese Zen bowl was one of the best bowls I’ve had. It was vibrant & fresh, filled with brown rice, miso roasted pumpkin, broccoli, cucumber, kale, pickled cabbage, poached eggs & a delicious sesame miso dressing. We added avocado & smoked salmon which we felt it needed.

The crispy banana roti was a dish I’d been dying to try & it was just as good as I’d expected. The banana filled crispy roti was served with mascarpone, biscuit crumb & strawberries. A decadent & rich dessert dish, perfect for those with a sweet tooth.

We really enjoyed the range of dishes at Monroe & the service was prompt & efficient. Thanks so much for having us.

If I could give this place more stars I would! Hidden away in the streets of Bridge road, this cute cafe sits modestly between some great shopping! The interior is a minimalist and beautiful which offers a variety of different seating options. But the best and most important aspect is the food! The food here is well presented, and absolutely delicious! I’ve been a few times, but we had the hotcakes which come with a modest serving, and were perfectly cooked! We had the Mango açai bowl which was refreshing. Then finally the corn fritters, so full of flavour but not overwhelmingly fried. You still feel light and respectfully full after this. Highly recommend visiting these guys!
Renee @thehappyorganicgirlau
I’ve been wanting to visit Monroe for over a year. Located in a fab spot in Richmond, with easy access to the 48 and 75 tram, this cafe has the most stunning interior. I love what they have done with it, from the beautiful marble to the two toned mirrors - stunning. Food was beautifully presented, the corn fritters were heaven! There is an Asian-influence with a stunning sauce served with them and they are perfectly crunchy. Love the coriander and fresh chilli. The smoothie bowl was popping and the fruit looked beautiful. Don’t get me started on the gorgeous pancakes, they looked so good I forgot to try them!
Hello. Imnikki
The period after Christmas and before New Year always goes by in a blur. What day is it? Where is everyone? Should I continue on my post Christmas food binge or should I start eating healthy in anticipation of the new year? So many questions but so little answers.

So I let fate decide and as fate would have it, I needed to be in Richmond for an appointment so it would make sense to fill up my tummy beforehand, right? Since I have been eyeing Monroe for quite some time, that was my chosen tummy filling spot.

It was eerily quiet on a Sunday afternoon, and as such, there was minimal wait for our coffee and food to arrive. The skinny latte was lovely - balanced and smooth.

My partner and I decided to go down the simple and classic route with our food - scrambled eggs with bacon (Ruby Scrambled), and smashed avo (Avocado and Feta Smash). There was however nothing simple about the flavours of these two dishes. The green nam jim imparted a delectable combination of sweet, salty, spicy and sour flavours to the scrambled eggs, while the smashed avo was jazzed up with the addition of creamy and tangy feta, and sweet and earthy beetroot puree. There was however a definite need for more beetroot puree for the dish to reach its maximum potential. I also couldn't detect what the black sesame seeds brought to the dish, so maybe another ingredient would achieve something more? Just a thought.

The service was very down-to-earth, and polite. Overall an enjoyable brunch experience.
Myha Nguyen
The interior design looks great and gives off a welcoming and relaxing vibes. However, service can definitely be improved. The staff wasn't very friendly and I did not feel acknowledged and welcomed the whole time I was there. My latte was good but my Japanese Zen Bowl was below average if I'm being honest. The brown rice was hard and cold as if it was straight out from the fridge. Please warm it up next time so the rice is firm and chewy as it should be.
3.5/5
Went for the eggs benny on croissant which sounded amazing, not 100% sure eggs benny works with croissant that well after trying it but still a good dish. Eggs cooke well, potato rosti was 10/10 but the feta was a bit of a let down. Nice fit out.
Vanessa
**3.5 stars** A big cafe which has clearly put in a lot of effort to create such a beautiful interior design that is both simple yet modern. Pastel pink and black are the main colours throughout the place. The cafe is also big enough to house a high ceiling and a long mirror on one side of the room. There’s plenty of seats (including a high communal marbled table at the front). Food wise, the presentation is great. Taste wise, we found the smashed avocado average at best. At $17.5, it was served with toast, sliced chilli, black sesame seeds and the slightest amount of beetroot puree (that was just brushed on the plate for presentation). We didn’t choose to add poached eggs for $4 as we believe that’s a pretty pricey sum for the classic breakfast meal. Meanwhile, the ‘lemon, poppy seed & ricotta hotcake’ was much tastier. The flavours were well-balanced and the hotcake was warm and fluffy. The coffee was smooth while the golden latte was just perfect 👍 All-in-all, the ambiance was nice, the service was prompt however the staff were kind of emotionless…?

Monroe in Richmond. Newly opened restaurant on Bridge road. We came in late Saturday afternoon. A bit quiet but nice to have the bigger table. We ordered the signature banana roti and crossaint egg Benny. One of the best banana roti we ever had. Definitely a thumbs up for this dish.
@foodtom
i went to Monroe for the first time yesterday for a brunch with my couple of friends to celebrate a mate's birthday.
We loved the atmosphere, the interior was lovely and welcoming and of course we had to sit on the marble table.
We were prompted with lovely service, serving us with some water and menus while we sat and took our time picking which food to order.
The food was delicious, I had the chicken burger and the smoothie.. it was delicious!
I had the green smoothie, it has a nice green kick and a hint of sweetness, not at all bland!
I tried my mate's peanut butter smoothie, it was so delicious and sweet and yet I am not the type of person that would order a peanut butter smoothie.
My burger was served with a right amount of chips and the burger had a nice amount of sauce, not too less or too much and not at all drying.
Although, service after getting our food was a bit slow, it took more than 20 minutes to get a round of green tea. No one checked if the food was good or wanted a round of drinks.

Food was amazing. The eggs Benedict on the croissant and the pork belly roll were DELICIOUS. Staff were very friendly and attentive. We will definitely be back!
Isabelle
delicious food, friendly staff & beautiful atmosphere to enjoy a nice brunch! the smoothies are my personal favourite - would definitely love to return & try the buddha bowl!
Steph
Spacious, pack full of punch food.
Staff are super friendly and everything was reasonably priced for the serving size
Really worthwhile going

Very good!! It's walking distance to where we live, would definitely come here every time we don't want to make breakfast! The rest of the comment is to make for the charactersssssss omgomgomg

We have been to Monroe a few times and have never once been disappointed.

We have tried many of their dishes and our favourites are croissant eggs benny and crispy banana roti. Every single time we go to Monroe, we will order the banana roti. Try it! And you won't be disappointed. We definitely would go back again, and again, and again....
Nicole
I had been eyeing off the Lemon, Poppyseed & Ricotta Hotcakes on Instagram for weeks.
On Sunday I finally got to try them and I wasn’t disappointed. They were delicious and the toppings were lovely, especially the coffee mascarpone.
My friend ordered the Chorizo Baked Beans and was also happy with the meal. I tried the haloumi and it was cooked perfectly.
Staff were friendly, service was prompt and the meal prices are very reasonable.
I highly recommend visiting Monroe!
Suzie Scribbles
Monroe is Bridge Road’s laid back brunch and lunch spot – make sure you grab the beautiful banana roti for a sweet treat! Monroe’s cool colours and comfy...
Katie
Smashed avo was disappointing and over priced. The beetroot was smeared so thin it dried on the plate so really it was $17 for some arvo, feta on one small piece of toast.

I was looking for a good cafe this morning and I came across Monroe.

I was warmly greeted and offered any table. I was hungry and looking forward to a good coffee and some food.

My strong skinny latte was good, but it was the bacon and eggs that really made my morning. The food was generous, the eggs delicious and the bacon just right! OMGosh this is what I have been secretly craving for hahaha

This is why I love Melbourne, good coffee and excellent food! It’s sooo good to be home yay! Hahaha
Flying Forward
Having been featured lately on the socials, I thought I would pop in for a quickie, which turned out to be pretty good.

The strong skinny latte is very good with a robust flavour, but with a ever so slightly sweet undertone.

The bacon and egg sandwhich is really good value - perfectly softly folded eggs and crispy but not overcooked bacon. The tomato relish was slightly sweet and acidic, cutting through the richness of the eggs and brioche.

The hotcakes were slightly disappointing because of the size - but that was my expectations letting me down. I've had some large hotcakes recently. These hotcakes were on the dense side (which isn't a bad thing), as it had a good bite. The syrup and banana went really well and the marscapone provided a bit of luxury.

The cafe is quite large and I like the clean design, but I'm struggling to see the connection with Marilyn Monroe. Anyway, a good find along this stretch of Richmond.
Mr Foodie
Have wanted to visit Monroe for quite some time now as I stumbled across their colorful instagram page and I can say, the pictures don't lie.

The cafe is located in the heart of Bridge Road, it is very modern throughout and the staff are very friendly.

My partner and I decided on the following dishes: avocado & feta smash with poached eggs and bacon, croissant eggs benedict. Both dishes looked great but more importantly were full of flavour. Coffees were a hit too!

Great experience here, will definitely come back for another visit.

Aindog's Burgers
Don't mind me I've just turned into a typical #brunchbitch no thanks to @deadliftsanddoughnutss 😏
.
🚗 Where was this adventure?
- @monroe_richmond
.
☕ What did I eat?
A stupid amount of food! (Like always)
- Southern Chicken Burger
- Thai Fried Rice
- Buddha Bowl
- Prawn Fritters
- Crispy Banana Roti
- Peanut Butter smoothie
- Peachy Green Smoothie
Basically one of everything off the menu.
.
So obviously this isn't a typical meal for a guy like me, I tend to eat things that look like they want to kill me, not this cute brunch stuff, but I gotta say, all of this food was bloody incredible!
.
The standouts however were the exceptionally delicious southern fried chicken burger, which was better than some burger joints I've been to. And the Banana Roti, holy hell that thing was mind-numbingly phenomenal! Never had it before, now it's what I look for on every menu!
Melbourniancritic (The Melbourne Experience)
Named after the one and only Marilyn Monroe, Richmond’s newest cafe Monroe is one elegant addition to Melbourne’s brunch scene. Located in the heart of Richmond’s Bridge Road, Monroe serves up great coffee, refreshing smoothies and a vibrant Asian-inspired menu created by their talented Head Chef Kelly McInerney (ex Three Monkeys Place). You can expect a lovely combination of healthy brunch options, the much loved classics and of course something for those who love to indulge in the sweeter side of breakfast.

Second time eating at this cute modern cafe (I think a lot of people wouldn’t even know it was there !).

Tip: we sat in the front section on our first visit -no flys , the second time we sat down the back closer to the kitchen. Quite a few pesky fly’s - pretty annoying but hard to avoid I guess? !

The staff here are friendly and usually have a nice accent to go along with their smiles 😘 the male barista is very nice , makes great coffee and always asks us if we enjoyed our meals.

Food presentation is very instagram worthy , I am however unsure if the team has sat down and eaten a lot of the menu though as some of the flavour combinations are a little too different but fun to try nonetheless . I would love to try the fried rice dish next time as the presentation looks amazing 😉

The First time I had the eggs Benedict on sourdough toast ( as I find a croissant not as filling/good price ratio for this meal ) my dining companion had it with the croissant and enjoyed it.

The Second time : the smoothly bowl : tapioca (was ok, we had trouble finding the coconut flavour, it was lovely and creamy though, additional fruits nice , however the puffed rice is just something the fruit sits on I feel as it has no flavour and didn’t do anything for me - but then again others might enjoy the texture addition . The berry smoothy part was ok in flavour. We did leave half of it behind though.

Beetroot cured salmon dish:
Overall I enjoyed it however I felt the pea ,mint on the bottom of the plate and the cauliflower and turnip shavings did not add the burst of flavour I was hoping for, it did make it look instagram pretty though !! The potato hash was a little unpleasant (tasted like old oil ) but the last time I was here I had it with the Eggs Benny and enjoyed it . The salmon and eggs were perfectly cooked. I would prefer the bread thicker for a more substantial meal.

Thanks to the team at Monroe and see you again soon !
Good Food Good Mood
I noticed Monroe’s slick interior on instagram last year and had been desperately trying to find the time to manage a visit. Good Friday seemed a good option given the majority of other cafes were closed. Unfortunately it was a colossal disappointment (not the fitout though, that was goals).
I ordered a smoothie bowl which was highly unenjoyable. The texture was grainy, the granola was overly sweet and the tapioca pearls just didn’t work. I left more than 3/4s of the bowl intact but nobody bothered to ask me how I found it.
I went to pay and was just told $45, no how was your meal no here is your bill so I paid and left disgusted at the lack of interaction. As I got to the car I realised it couldn’t have been $45 as we only ordered the two dishes and no drinks having had a late breakfast not long before our lunch. I got back to the counter and questioned the bill and the waitress said yes you also had a bowl of chips for $9.50, which we obviously did not.
I said I was pretty disappointed given my meal had been terrible and then I’d been charged for something I didn’t even order and the response was ‘have a nice day’ as she handed me back $9.50 in coins. I actually couldn’t believe it. I then remarked perhaps if you’d asked me how my meal was or actually given me a printed bill you would have realised I hadn’t ordered chips, to no response. I will clearly not be returning and will likely give their other venues a wide berth too
Sophie
Came here a couple of weeks ago as I’d walked past it previously. Ordered the bacon and egg roll which was delicious. I really like the decor and the way they used the space. The staff are friendly and attentive. Will definitely return.
The Truth About Food
Walking into Monroe, I knew it would be a good experience. The staff were friendly and the venue was calming with a soft colour palette. I ordered the prawn frittatas, when they arrived they looked small so I anticipated that they wouldn’t have a lot if prawn. Boy was I wrong, big chunks of prawn and a fresh taste of coriander however, I couldn’t taste any ginger and for me, it needed more chilli so I ordered extra. Even so, they were delicious and more filling than what I’d thought. Well worth the visit.

Beautiful interior! Really beautiful marble benches! The staff are really lovely and give service. Great coffee. Recommend the ruby scrambled eggs.
Fielder6
Interesting interior design choices but it certainly looks sparkly and clean. The service is quite attentive and pleasant and the coffee is excellent. I've tried their single origin and house blend- both very pleasing. I would happily come again.
Thalia Cottis
I love the layout of this cafe and the staff is always lovely. They make great coffee and smoothies. A few of my favourite dishes are the crispy banana roti which is a must and smashed avocado. I went recently and tried afew of their new dishes. I wasn't a fan of the Buddha Bowl, I felt as if it was missing something. I also tried the thai fried rice which was nice, the prawn fritters and southern chicken burger which was also nice.
Food Comatose
Amongst the bustle of Bridge road, Monroe is a quiet refuge serving up a lovely range of brekkie and lunch dishes, with friendly service to match. I ordered the crispy eggs with pea purĂŠe and beetroot cured salmon. Beautifully presented with different colours, textures and elements, I was very impressed. The coffee was also on point.
Samantics
Finally had the opportunity to try out Monroe on Bridge road. Stopped in for a quick brunch today and was pleasantly surprised. First of all, a great modern fit out using a pastel pinks and greys and stone benches all work well with the polished concrete floors. A small space but well utilised. The service was nice and friendly from our server who helped us decide. We ordered the Ruby scramble eggs and crispy banana roti from the menu (both yum) and the ice coffee and cold pressed orange juice were good. All of these items we would recommend. I’m looking forward to coming back to try the bacon and egg roll or ricotta pancakes next time.
We8melbourne
We had been dying to try this place out and we are so happy we did! The interior is absolutely gorgeous especially the pink grout on the marble wall tiles. The food is amazing. Everything was cooked to perfection. We couldn’t fault it! Can’t wait to go back and try the rest of the menu!
Peggy Xu
Food is ok, but the drawback is the unprofessional staff. I paid $4 for a regular size takeaway latte, with the staff saying regular is the medium size. However, I ended up getting my latte in a tiny cup (smallest size). I told the barista that I paid for the medium size, but she was very reluctant to make me another one in the right size, and even asked me to pay extra for it. The

I was disappointed that the staff was rigid and lacked training. There are a lot other cafes nearby which have provided me with more pleasant experience.
Hangry Dreamer
The latest from the folks at Trillium and Miss Frank - Monroe continues on with the cool kid vibes with a slick interior and equally modern cuisine. It has strong influences from its sister cafes but does it reach the heights they have already reached?. Walking into Monroe I was so impressed with the interior. Sleek and modern with all the makings of an Instagram cafe - it really wowed on first sight. It also hasn't reached the hype levels of its sister cafes so no worries about the line as there was none!
Lani Hughes
This place was stunning. My best friend and I always are up for looking for cute cafes too the point now that we have high expectations for them all wherever we go. But this places interior was very classy but beautiful at the same time it gave a great vibe to the place. The staff were extremely friendly and very welcoming. The food was really good as well like it wasn’t just good in a presentation. I am definitely coming back to try there smoothies which I missed out on but I did a quick decision which my order but I was still impressed
Memtree
Great decor and love the plant greenery in the space! Lovely food presentation. Amazing chai lattes! Tumerica lattes quite good too! We all enjoyed our meals. Friendly staff. Ask for the toilet key (sieve).
Birdman
Went for an Acai bowl however the menu was different and instead there was a pitaya bowl which was disappointing. The fitout of the cafe is very cool and really wanted it to be good but the pitaya bowl was so watery and granola was so sweet it hurt my teeth. Recommend getting rid of that off the menu and walking down to A Thousand Blessings and trying their Acai bowl and replicating cause the Pitaya isn’t working.
Tilley Eats
Food here is great, as expected from what was listed on the interesting new menu. So many bright colours and great flavours. Coolest of all was the modern interior and the black marble table!
Mrs Mark
Pros: beautiful decor, cool vibe, food elegantly presented, cons: still felt like they were finding their feet, not blown away by the flavours (we had the panna cotta and eggs benny)
A Chronicle Of Gastronomy
The team behind Miss Frank and have opened a new venue in Richmond. Named after the one and only Marilyn Monroe, Richmond’s newest cafe is similarly classy; Monroe is a glitz and glam café decked out with plenty of marble, woods and brass fixtures.
Gastrology
The latest venture from the guys behind Miss Frank and Trillium, Monroe is a brilliant new addition to Bridge Road in Richmond. In line with its other cafes, Monroe serves up stunning brunch options and great coffee. Our top picks from the menu include the Thai Rockling Salad which features perfectly cooked pan fried rockling atop a vibrant salad of carrot, red cabbage, cucumber, tomato, mint, red onion, lettuce, coriander, and a sweet and sour dressing.

Thank you to the Monroe cafe for a delicious and amazing experience! The staff were lovely, the cold drip coffee (which I highly appreciate) was amazing and the crispy banana roti was impeccable! and to top it all off - the peanut butter shake was definitely a highlight. Overall a fantastic experience! Thank you Monroe ❤️
@thefoodiealgorithm
Decor was beautiful. What caught my eye were the marble benches near the windows, absolutely gorgeous. Waitstaff very friendly and welcoming. Loved the menu, could have chosen all of those dishes as they seemed all so appealing.

We ordered the Crispy Banana Roti & Buddha Bowl. Both dishes well presented. The Buddha Bowls' ingredients were visibly fresh, loved the purple toned egg. Banana Roti crispy to perfection and the dish had an overall well balanced flavour.

Would return if around that area.
AlwaysHungry23
Ordered the soft shell crab burger that came with fries. It was fantastic, not too oily and great combination with the charcoal brioche. The fries was seasoned nicely.

Had the Buddha bowl and that was great too! Good portion and for those who are hungry, the salmon is a great addition!

Coffee was good but too milky for my liking.

Ambiance was great! Very relaxing and music wasn’t too loud. Very chic and trendy as well. Loved the deco of this place.
The hotcakes were absolutely to die for. I haven't been that pleased with breakfast in a long time. Fantastic. Will definitely be back. Menu has a great variety and the cafe itself is beautiful and open inside.

Ordered eggs and sides- generous serving and good taste. The food came very quickly, and the service was good too. Nice and attentive refilling water ☺️
Enjoyed my coffees, and thought the place was very reasonably priced! Will go back for sure
@twogoodtoresist
Born amidst a family of very reputable cafes, Monroe solves a much needed “good cafe drought” on the upper end of bridge road Richmond. The interior is gorgeous and boasts quite a fancy vibe. The food is amazing- we highly recommend the Benedict which comes with one with bacon and one with salmon (the perfect answer to all you indecisive brunchies)! The peanut butter and pitaya smoothies were great. Cauliflower fritters are a huge serving but a little dry so the addition of sides is a good idea! The roti was s little bit plain but a good sweet tooth option. Coffee and service is fantastic
Melbourne To Mouth
Brought to you by the peeps that already have props for Miss Frank and Trillium, Monroe is the newest gem in the family. The Bridge Road location also means my fave restaurant family are now only a stone's throw away from my house - aces. Immediate access to their banana roti is gonna be incredibly helpful for those delightful summer hangovers.

Signature pancakes that we've come to know and love from this group come in the form of Lemon, Poppyseed and Ricotta with banana coffee mascarpone: TDF (that's 'To Die For', you're welcome). The Ruby Scramble with nam jim will deliver a delicious Mexicany-Asian feel to the table, in a dish that's so big you can sing four rounds of The Kaiser Chief's 'Ruby' before you get through it (RUBY RUBY RUBY RUBY Ahhhaaahhh). With their signature smoothies and shakes you'll have plenty to choose from, I recommend the Monroe Dragon - it'll freshen up the dankest of mornings. I'm going back for the Eggs Benny Benny and a Buddha Bowl.

Full (and probably funnier) review live on the blog now, link in bio...
