This place just needs to be closed down. Came in - no atmosphere... the guy who worked there was more interested in the NBA finals on the tv.... hmmmm

Place is filthy, cups, tables - couldn't use the toilet it was pretty foul.

Menu is super small. We all ordered pretty much the same thing - chicken and spinach toasted sandwich w cheese and pesto and mayo.

I wanted a focaccia but they were all out. Didn't have any pesto on it. The bread was like - Coles wholemeal bread. It wasn't toasted for long enough 🙄 it's not rocket science.

They were also out of half of the juices ... orange and apple were the only options from a big list.

Why stay open? Owners obviously don't care, the place was empty.....

I ordered the muesli which said came with seasonal fruit. All I got was green apple and orange. It's summer I naturally assumed "seasonal fruit" would at least have strawberries and maybe a nectarine or peach. Very disappointing :(

I went shopping with my friend in Bridge road and would like to take a rest in the cafe. I did not expect too much but the food and drink surprised me. I order d one coffee, chicken parma and my friend orderd the eggs bacon roll with extra rocket. The food looks nice and the coffee is good. The little cute girl next table order a pancake looks really nice. I really want like to try it next time. We have a good time. Thanks

Favourite cafe on Bridge Road. Have become a regular here the past couple of months. The owner remembers not only your order, but also your name (!!!) after your first time. Always friendly and super attentive. Food and coffee is always great, and absolutely love the cost undercover courtyard at the back.

First impressions were to not have high expectations. And that always works well because the poached eggs breakfast was absolutely perfect. You'd think you can't really not have good poached eggs everywhere due to its simplicity, but to have it perfected is always satisfying. Particularly when I am grumpy in the mornings until I have a good breakfast. Recommended to all who are in Richmond and looking for a fresh and satisfying breakfast/lunch.

Best Burger EVER. Visiting Richmond my friends and I walked past this little cafe and sat down to grab some lunch, friendly and relaxed atmosphere the service was awesome. I ordered the Monk Cafe Burger and was not denied specific dietary request which these days seems to always be a problem. The huge meal was incredible and I can not stress how much I loved this burger. The best part of it all was the price, so cheap and worth your money. If your ever in Richmond I would highly recommend The Two Monk Cafe my friends and I loved everything. Xx

Service was good, but food left a lot to be desired.
Ordered bacon with my eggs and received one rasher, also ordered sausage with my eggs and received half a chorizo. No effort put into presentation on plate, overall very disappointed.

Great no fuss cafe experience. Bit surprised by the low rating, we thoroughly enjoyed our breakfast and focaccia, but watch the salami- it's hot! ;-)
Coffee, decor and the service were also great... you can't expect much for more for less than $20 per person. We'll be back.

The carrot cake is beautiful, soft, moist and addictive. Most likely fatty. The caramel slice is also amazing. I think I’ve gained over 5kg since coming here for these little treats every day. Perfect with a cup of coffee. Which is better than most of the sh!t coffee near by

Don't be in a hurry. Service slow, inaccurate and indifferent.
Nice space, but...

I found this place quite nice and cosy if you're looking for somewhere to have a coffee and a bite to eat. I was comfortable eating here on my own and liked the native decor.

Tasty food, friendly staff and not over priced. This place is great for convenience and cost! It's refreshing to eat and have drinks for two in Melbourne and pay less than $30!!

Current management are excellent. As a local, II really enjoy having a chat with Jason and Jessica while grabbing my coffee. Super nice people and great coffee.

Horrible service! Our order was lost twice. Firstly our drinks order was lost, after complaining and waiting 40min we realised our food order had also been lost. The staff was far from apologetic so we cancelled the order and left. The cafe was not even that full and from what I can tell their poor service was due to terrible order management and a general disregard for the customer.
Give this one a miss

Good 6/10. It served the purpose of a nice place to hang out and a good sandwich. Fresh bread and ingredients. Friendly staff.
Not much more than an average bakery/sandwich place.

I had a nice simple roast vegetable wrap with a tasty pesto through it. Basic but tasty. The service was average, and the bathroom was gross. Not sure if I'd go back.

Dirt in my spinach. Had brekkie here a while ago, it started fine (not great, fine)... then eating some spinach realised it was all gritty... SO much dirt in. I understand, having worked in hospitality for years, even when you buy "washed" salad leaves, they often still have dirt in them, so you need to double was.

I told them about the dirt in both our spinach (politely), you know, so they could wash the rest so other people didn't have to eat dirt too. The muscle man waiter pointed at the spinach in the sandwich bar and said really rudely "that's it there... it's clean". No apologies. Umm, OK, just because you can't see dirt on top of a pile of spinach doesn't mean theres not some in there. He didn't seem the brightest spark.

Anyway, I'll never go back. I'd recommend you don't either.

Make sure u don't get your coffee from here

Impeccable service, friendly outgoing staff that go out of their way to make sure your needs are catered for! We had drinks and desserts and they were all flawless. Thoes negative reviews are completely unjust, and plain rude! I will most definitely return to Two Monks.

Well where do I start? We asked to sit in the courtyard turns out it was a garage enclosed with a wall heater that hadn't been serviced in ages, it smelt like carbon monoxide.... So I turned it off. The chai vanilla latte was nice but that's about it big breakfast came out I asked for poached eggs and got scrambled eggs because he said they crack them into a bucket and can't scoop them out wtf??? Lol anyways it was really oily and no real taste. We should of left at the start. Don't go there.

Friendly staff, yummy food and cheap for bridge road

Excellent Wrap. I popped in to grab a wrap on the run, the Highett wrap (chargrilled vege). The best damn grilled veg wrap with pesto I have had in a long time. Fun staff, fresh ingredients and I would go back there for the wrap.

Don't bother with the hot choc - basically warm milk.

I was with a group of three and all of us were quite disappointed with our meals. After walking the shops of bridge rd, we chose to sit @ two monks and get food and drinks. The atmosphere of the place initially has the bridge Ed feel you expect, but then there were the little annoyances. The staff were not very attentive at all. Now , I've been in the hospitality industry for over 13 years, so I understand when there is pressure OR when people just don't care. After. Ringing out our plates, the waiter didn't come to our table again - not for drink calls, not a check up on how everything went, nothing. Even wen he came to collect the plates and could see the dishes were half eaten he stayed quiet. The food we ordered was terrible - especially considering the price. I ordered a chicken "burger" with salad instead of chips. It was actually a sandwich that came out - and even though it was full, the flavour was really very bland and it was all so oily. The salad accompanying it was also covered in oil - no balsamic dressing, or dressing with any flavour at oil other than plain oil! My mum ordered an open lamb souvlaki... This was absolutely disgusting. It comes with chips, salad, lamb and pita bread. Now we order this meal from a lot of places, and we have owned our own food business so we know when something is not right. The lamb on this dish was not right- my mum thinks they must've deep fried as opposed to just grilling it. It was tough, dry, and smothered in what tasted like old garlic. The salad was as awful as mine - just leaves, an onion piece or two, and oil. The. Hips served with her meal also tasted like they had been cooked in old oil. When ur paying $16-$17 for a meal, you expect it to be better quality than this - especially since there are so many other cafes on bridge rd that we couldve chosen! My sister in law had chosen the pizza-type dish for $11. She rated it a 3/10. She said she didn't expect much for$11 but this wasn't something she would have again. Mum rated her lamb a 2/10 (seeing as she hardly ate ny of it) and I rated mine a 4/10. Anyway, hope this helps. I won't be going back there again - there coffee was ok, but as I said, there are places who do it better, with even better service. Sorry 'Two Monks' - great name but disappointing food and service.

Not Impressed. Not crowded, yet very slow service, took half an hour to make scrambled eggs and an omelette (both with eggshell grit mmmm yummy not!) served on chipped crockery. Very pricey too. Save your money, Richmond Hill Cafe & Larder up the road is so much better

Never Again. Ordered two breakfasts, which came out in reasonable time. The added bacon to my eggs, which I didn't ask for and the food was stone cold. The "poached" eggs we ordered boiled, to the point they were inedible. Truly awful.
Lisa Birch
Crowded, coffee was weak. They didn't have white bread. Too pricey for what they offer. And what place in this day and age is cash only? - this place apparently. So inconvenient.

What happened to Melbourne's coffee. Went there 2 weeks ago with a few colleague of mine, had a Bridge. it was delicious had a cup of coffee ... wow i found a place for my coffee made by a asian guy (who work for Vue de monde) ?? went there again last week on Friday, my mate asked for a Chai Latte, unfortunately is taste horrible with too much Chai powder being put on the top. i ordered a hot choc and the thick frooth on the top looks disgusting... different barista now and can't believe what i had ... i went there again yesterday, jezzzzzz ... food is okay ... lamb souvlaki was good ... but coffee is bad ... (where is the asian guy who made my 1st coffee go ??) .......I will go back for the food .. but definitely no coffee for a while .....

Sooo Disappointing. This place used to be great when the old owners were there. It has recently changed hands and WOW terrible service .... No idea on how to run a cafe or treat customers extremely disappointing. Food is also overpriced for the quality that is delivered without a smile ......

Content. Went there when they had different management and I can't say I was happy as I never returned, however a few weeks ago I noticed it had reopened and I saw different faces of staff so i bought my mum there. I was pretty happy with everything. The place had life to it, the coffee was good and they di freshly baked cakes and muffins. the service is also good. I;ve been there twice in the last 2 weeks and I will be back.

Disappointed. After 45mins of placing our order for bacon and french toast, the waiter said it wont be much longer we have had to go to the supermarket and buy more bacon.... now you would think at 9.30am on mothers day you would be prepared for a busy morning... very rude people working there.... two other tables walked out after an hour of waiting and still no food... we left there at 11am....and will never go back.... oh and $56.00 for 3 serves of bacon... very expensive at one piece per plate...
Purple Bear
I could make it myself. Had early morning breakfast here and were greeted by two friendly waitresses.

The coffee wasn't very good. Ordered eggs (poached) on toast and it was pretty ordinary - you get 1 slice of toast and 2 poached eggs and I could have probably cooked the same for less.
Loz
Shody service. My change was slapped on the counter in front of me, waitress then walked off without another word.

Waited an age for two mutilated croissants with packet butter and Kraft hotel jam. Head waitress lovely and doing a great job but unfortunately overshadowed by male Batista/owner who sized up every female who walked in. Not cool dude, not cool. Waited ages to pay until owner yelled 'can someone come and take some money??' whilst he was clearly flat out making one mocha. A real shame.
Melbournechatterbox
The coffee was fine, but ordered French toast which was definitely undercooked, and served with cold fruit, which was less than impressive.

I work on Bridge rd and this place does the BEST coffee on this road(IMO) always good, smooth blend.... food looks awesome and the boys who make the coffe are always friendly!
Cookiemonster
Average. Went here for lunch with my partner and ordered a foccacia and a milkshake from a guy who seemed really stressed and was hurrying our order along. He didn't seem to write anything down and after waiting a long time for our food it finally came. But my milkshake was no where in sight. I was about to go up and ask as he came out of the cafe (we were sitting outside) but rushed over to another table of 3 young girls and just plonked my milkshake there without checking with them and hurried off.

One of the girls had to come over to me and give me my milkshake herself. Didn't even get an apology from the scatty waiter afterwards.

Good food all in all but the service was crappy and rushed with little thought and sincerity. What a shame.
Major Tom
Coffee good, however dissapointed that the service wasn't up to scratch, particularly when you have been clear about you order. Shame, but will give a second chance.
Mgoyeah
Brilliant. Had breakfast there last weekend. Fantastic service and the food and coffee was great. Nice people also.
Clint
Slick operation, great coffee and even better food. Had the "church", absolutely beautiful. These guys are definitely on a winner, friendly service and only a short wait for meals. Five stars. Highly recommended.

Joe Kmaid. Great coffee and the best fresh food on bridge road. Don't forget to try "The Bridge" or "The Punt" Street Sandwich.
