Review The Posty - Bar & Pizza - Richmond

Nice spot for a quiet drink. Cosy inside, beautiful outside facing main road. Can get packed after a footy game, the rivalry is real when they all enter!! Only a few beers on tap, offering pizzas and can be alright for kids but tables are quite high.

Absolutely love this place. You won’t find another place like it! Super trendy with delicious pizza, yummy cocktails and outstanding service
Erin Harley
Cute small intimate venue great for a date or drink after work or before the footy. Even though it’s a small venue they make it work with amazing friendly staff and a great ambience with Italian wines and great cocktails!
Jarydd Jenkins
Atmosphere on point here. couldn’t ask for a better beer garden! Pizza hits the spot would highly recommend!

The Posty is a Richmond favorite, the staff are amazing, friendly, helpful and talented cocktail makers. The location is central to everything in the precinct and the atmosphere and vibe is energised and happening.

A breathe of fresh air on Swan street. Very unique venue with great vibes, good food and incredible cocktail menu

Nice venue for a work Christmas do. Lots of nibbles and snacks. The boss got a bit lairy and used the c word in a speech.
Shailla Quadra
Delicious woodfire pizza, cool vibe & tunes, very friendly staff!

This is a really cute restaurant in an old post office building. The inside is lovely and the pizza is tasty, but a few things could have been much better. Firstly, many of the cocktail ingredients were unavailable so I ended up having an overpriced and tiny drink. The service was pretty much non-existent and there was a hidden surcharge on what we ordered, presumably because we paid on card but just be transparent about that. The women's bathroom was also just not up to standard. Why on Earth was it so hot in there? Where was the soap? Why was the loo paper lying on top of the holder? So many questions about the state of the bathroom. This place could be great if just a bit more effort went into it!

Instant one star rating and blacklist. $11 for a schooner of beer, irrespective of price, should be criminalised. Even in the city. That's me and the Posty parting company...

A nice little venue had a drink here. The service waa a but of a miss. The venue itself was cosy and the 1m pizzas is something i want to try
I Love Food
Dined last night before seeing Kevin Hart at Rod Laver arena. We shared the lamb pizza & garlic & cheese bread. Both tasty but could've been better if they were more generous with the amount of lamb on the pizza. Service pretty average.

Located in an odd shaped building just near the train line on Swan Street, this place serves up a mean pizza or two! We popped in on the way to a concert and found the pizza options plentiful and the result great. The bar tender knew his stiff and was happy to go with our request bit also happy to suggest others when my wine wasn’t available. Would happily recommend and come back.

Fantastic pizza. Went with the whole family. Felt right at home. Thanks to the staff. We had pulled pork pizza and a margarita pizza. Tasted great.

Tonight we called in for a quick pizza drink before the footy. I was firstly quite surprised that we were able to book a table quite last minute on such a busy night. The interior really is well done making use of the elegant architecture and providing plenty of bench style dining options with one central long table that would be suitable for a larger group. The menu was largely dough based with a few eating platters and salads to boot. The wine snob in the group thought he might struggle to find something to enjoy but he tried the a Petit Verdot from the old worlds red collection and was suitably impressed. I liked their craft beer range also. Happy hour ran from 4-6pm<br/><br/>For pizzas we shared the Calabrese as well as the Quattro Formaggi (four cheese). Made with authenticity on irregular shaped dough and cooked in a wood fire oven these pizzas far exceeded my expectations. Delicious base and flavoursome toppings that were too heavy handed. We also tried the fried calamari which was well cooked and tender with long long strips of squid. It was ok but nothing special when compared to the pizza which I will most certainly come back for.

Needed a quick bite before a concert last week and we popped into The Posty.  The pub is beautiful inside with a lovely beer garden at the back.  We ordered pizza's, they were ok but we were not completely wowed by them.  The espresso martini's were very strong in taste - I still drank it though lol it did hit the spot.  <br/><br/>We were waiting for some time for our meals (apparently there was only 1 person in the kitchen) and we were stressing out because we had the concert to go to.  I expressed my concern to the waiter with long hair and he pushed our orders forward.  I didn't catch your name but thank you, your customer service skills were excellent, much appreciated.
Whats On The Grill?
Excellent little pub with great pizzas - especially love the lamb & pork ones. Small beer garden area out front & inside is quite cosy but great for a few drinks and meal with a small group. Drinks list is extensive & creative enough to keep you interested.

Wood fired pizza? Yeah right ... more like WOOD FIRED AWESOME, SON!!! <br/><br/>Are you kidding me? I’d punch a baby (but really lightly) to have this as part of my regular diet. Crispy fried crust, like the Irish in the Australian sun, but super delicate, like Donald Trump’s ego. <br/><br/>HOW BOW DAT?!?<br/><br/>And seriously, great service. I thought one of those dudes behind the bar might want to take me home, but then I realised they’re just that freaking good!!<br/><br/>You know nothing about pizza if you haven’t been here. You think you know, but you have no idea. Did I just call back “Diary” from MTV circa 2001? Bloody oath mate. Get amongst it, this pizza is amazing!

Great pizzas, though some of them are a bit soggy, and above average fries. To top it off, this place has a great outdoor area. The food also came out reasonably quickly, eventhough we came in numbers. This place deserves a thumbs up.

I literally waited in line for ten minutes to get food and a drink only to be told they ant take any more food orders because he kitchen is too busy. Not every table is full here, that is a joke.

This is a great place to go for dinner with friends or to have a few drinks. They serve some delicious pizzas which are great to share over a few beers. Some cool music, a cute outdoor area and in the heart of the hustle and bustle of Richmond; it’s a cool bar/pub to spend an evening. <br/>

What a shame...<br/><br/>Been past here so many times and finally decided to swing in for a drink with my partner.<br/><br/>Venue is really nice but was chilly inside. Not ideal on a Melbourne winter night. Whilst having a couple of drinks we decided to order so calamari to nibble on. I have to say it is the worst calamari I have had to date. Zero flavour and texture I would compare to polystyrene... shocking. Barman that served us was nice however. <br/><br/>My give it a try again for a drink in the summer but that would be about it.
SusieQ
Cosy interesting bar and pizza venue ideal for a prefooty meal. There is Carlton draught on tap as well as other 'craft' beers. There is a good selection of wood fired pizza on the menu as well as a few light dishes to share. We ordered the chips and calamari to start. Followed by the vegetarian pumpkin and feta pizza. A good experience we will return

Recently met up with a group of people for pregame beer and pizza. No complaints. Excellent venue for this type of catch-up. Pizzas were wood fired and tasty. Pity about the smokers blowing inside.

I visited The Posty on a Thursday night as part of a Campari cocktail tasting night. As part of the evening, my friend and I got spoiled with some Amaro liqueur cocktails and two beautiful wood fire pizzas. The venue here is pretty cool – high bar stools along a long communal table with some private tables off to the side. The section I was in was fairly small and cozy (and loud); I’d say it’s a nice place to catch up with friends for after work drinks and food.

Went to the posty on a Thursday night with friends for pizza. I ordered the salami pizza with rocket, it was quite nice and on a thin crispy base. Book ahead if you can as there's not too many tables inside.

We used to frequent this venue often, nice little courtyard and located in a great spot. Of late, sadly it seems to have seen better days. Understaffed, charged for a plate we didn't order and now, for me at least, the worst offence,  no more pints just schooners. Guys, we won 't be back, nor will we frequent your other venues if you replace pints with schooners too. This might seem petty to some but it's important to us. Ciao.

I’ve lived in Richmond for 5 years now and I feel like this place has deteriorated over that time. Testament perhaps that on a Friday night the joint is half empty and the uncaring staff stand behind the bar looking bored.<br/><br/>Apart from the decor now appearing dated and grubby, my main gripe would be the bar staff - The staff were so rude to us it was upsetting. I appreciate you’re in your mid-30s and are barely making minimum wage serving drinks for a living, and that failure must be difficult to live with on a daily basis, but have some professional etiquette. Rude. Arrogant. Unprofessional. <br/><br/>I’m be voting with my feet and will never return.

Great little pizza bar on Richmond. Nice music with a Dj playing old school 90s hits and well executed pizzas that arent too heavy on that body. The ginger beer deserves a mention too. A nice alternative to the busy Richmond hotel next door.

Pizza's were really good however when served a glass of warm wine the bar staff said that their fridges were "running hot" due to being busy - so if you like warm wine and unfriendly staff give this a go!
IsFoodIsGood
The pizzas are good if you get the ones with good hefty toppings so give the Margherita a miss.<br/>The pizza bases were really good too!<br/>Easily downed a pizza and was full.

The waitress was incredibly rude to us. The pizza was okay. The shoe string fries were an unsightly neon yellow, I assume soaked in MSG. They tasted fine, mediocre at best. However they did not taste good on the way out, writhing in pain with my head in the toilet bowl at the Sam Smith concert.

Great place, like the atmosphere. Pumpin tue nite b4 victory game. Pizza very thin but good. Good quick service at the bar. Don't hang out much in richmond so I'm glad mate booked it

Easily the best pizza I have ever had in Melbourne. We had Chorizo and Prawn pizzas and both were delicious! Also staff were friendly and the atmosphere is good.

Loved the ambience and set up. Was a great experience and good food. Are the calamari salad and picked a lovely Cabernet Sauvignon from their extensive collection

I really enjoyed this place! We came in for a few beers on a Sunday night (long weekend) and it seemed to have a pretty good vibe. Hope to return to try the food!

Post Office Hotel is one of my favourite pre/post footy lunch/dinner places, conveniently located close to the corner of Swan St and Punt Rd in Richmond. I was eagerly looking forward to having the delicious mussels, which were unavailable the last time I visited after the Melbourne Rebels V Cheetahs game 18 th March 2012. Unfortunately for me, the mussels have now disappeared completely off the menu. Is this a seasonal thing? Mussles had also disappeared off the Aviary menu recently too! A little disappointed, I ordered the chilli prawn pizza. My friend Bec ordered the chorizo and my other girlfriend Annette, who was on a different eating body clock to ours had the chocolate mud cake. Chilli Prawn Pizza $16 Chorizo with green olives and crumbled feta, crusty bread $13 Chocolate Mud Cake with mixed berries and vanilla ice cream $10 The pizza was delicious! I offered to share with Bec and Annette, but Bec was allergic to tomato and Annette disliked seafood. Oh well, more for ME! I rare

Post Office Hotel provides something a little different to the rest of the Swan street fanfare. Classy, kinda chilled and intimate but still busy enough to feel like the place is happening. Good for that drink to catch up with friends.

Bad experience !. I booked a family function here month and a half in advance they contacted us via e-mail two weeks before the party to say that they couldn't honour the booking ( they had double booked themselves) this was after I had sent out invitations organized decoration and a cake......very disappointed to say the least.

Perfect venue for dinner and drinks before an AFL match at the MCG. They take bookings during the day, so you can secure a nice table.<br/><br/>The pizza is declious and there is a wide variety. They also have an excellent choice of alcoholic beverages.

Good fun. This place is good fun. The staff were very pleasant, and went out of their way to make sure the night had a good vibe. The pizzas were high quality, albeit that the Lamb pizza had a little too much sauce which caused the base to be soggier than I would have liked. The Chorizo pizza, however, was perfect. Crisp base - right amount of topping. <br/><br/>All served with a smile, and in a pleasant atmosphere. Be ready for loud music on a Saturday night, but that just adds to the experience. <br/><br/>Again? - yes!

Between 4 of us we ordered a starter each and a pizza, 2 people's starters and pizza came out, then about 15-20minutes later the rest came out! Why wouldn't the starters come out first? And then bring then 4 pizzas out at the same time! Not cool. The food is just ok, not a bad spot for a beer but I'd probably eat elsewhere!

Nice establishment with good drinks and friendly staff. <br/>I always stop by when I'm visiting the Swan Street area.

Nice setting and atmosphere.. Foods pretty average nothing special.<br/>Good menu for a pub but could work on the execution of the dish more as they are trying a gourmet menu.

Great place with a real buzzing atmosphere. We chose this restaurant before we took our daughters to the Rihanna concert and the experience was superb. Staff were extremely professional and even when we were unable to get a table the manager Nadia came introduced herself and and made sure we were ok wait and managed to get us seated pretty quickly. Loved the pizzas and thin fries... We will definitely be back.

Great cocktails and a steak the size of half a cow.

Super Delicious!!!!!!!

Potential. Commanding position on Swan St and whoever designed the interior did a great job. Plenty of bench seating and a classy industrial feel is achieved. I only stopped in for a drink on a Sunday night and it was pretty quiet and they closed up around 9.30pm. <br/>I will return however to try out the pizza menu and the extensive wine list they have on offer.

Great for pre football meal. Staff happy and friendly. Great atmosphere and buzz on football nights. Comfortable for all ages. Great outdoor heating. Reliable food.

Ate here on Wednesday 24th April and 7 of us opted for the $50 "feed me" option. Very disappointing. Standard of food was ok but the "main course" for 7 people was one rib eye steak and some chicken that didn't even have one piece each. To say that it was underwhelming is a massive understatement. Felt ripped off totally when friends arriving later ordered burgers that were easily more substantial than the $50 option.

Went to the post office on Friday night, we ordered pizza and a bottle of wine. Pizza took a while to come out but worth the wait. Staff where friendly and cool beer garden.

Bad service. Wow the dark pony tail hair lady behind the bar was so rude last night. Great cosy place, mexican pizza not very good. Do not bother, lots of other great places to try other than this. Owner needs to get staff to say please, thank you and sorry for bringing the house cocktail out so late. Poor

Cheap, chilled and cheerful. The Post Office is a good little local pub with decent food in a gorgeous red brick heritage building in Richmond. It's an unpretentious spot, across Swan St from the Corner Hotel.<br/><br/>You order at the bar and the genial staff will bring out your orders, either inside or to the small side courtyard. Lunch for three of us on a sunny weekend afternoon was a relaxed affair. Two delicious pizzas (a potato & chorizo, and a spicy salami) and a serve of olive and cheese arancini was more than enough (really yummy) food. The pizzas both had crisp bases, good toppings, and were cooked beautifully in a wood fired oven. All up, $38 for lunch between us, more if we'd had drinks other than water, but not much.<br/>A good value visit and a bit of a favourite in recent years.
Barista Sista
Quite a nice little spot. I love the atmosphere of the place and the staff aren't overly in your face friendly. It's chilled, and I love places like that. The menu is a little complex and often leaves me a little disappointed with and extravagant menu description, then it comes out looking and tasting rather boring. however, there is something about this place always brings me back wanting to try something new.

Came late wed night. Great vibe, staff friendly and warming. Good was great quality and very well priced for the surrounding area. Well set out and keeping the original 1920 charm on the outside whilst classy modern on the inside. Definitely come back.

Thumping Bass Music. Four young-at-heart Baby Boomers enjoyed some pizzas at the Post Office over wine and beer on 30 August 2012.<br/>What we didn't enjoy was the DJ's obsession with the thumping bass structure of every song to the exclusion of lyrics and tenor tones!
Local
Very cheap but delicious food - $10 pizzas, $6 salads (with candied walnuts) and good table service, if you're eating at least. Gets noisier later on a Saturday night with the DJ, but a great place nonetheless.
DnA
Great food. Shame it was clear the staff did not want to be there.

We are new to Richmond and we have been to several pubs on Swan street, trying to find our new local. This is the only place we actually felt welcome! The staff were very friendly, fresh and quirky ..and the Pizza's were delicious!<br/>Cozy fit out, nice selection of wines.. Only complaint is that there are only 4 beers on tap. But I guess you can't expect much more from a smaller pub!<br/>Loved it and will be back.
Ondine
What a shocker!!!!. The ridiculously pretentious menu is the first problem here. After deciphering it we waited over an hour and a half for our meals to arrive and what a disappointment. Bland and over cooked. The chicken was bones and fat.<br/>The rabbit pie was a pasty mush. Maybe the chef should set a new less pretentious menu that he can actually cook. Too much effort trying to be trendy and no emphasis on quality and service. Never again.
FueledbyFood
Great pizzas and friendly staff. Nice place for lunch.

Lunch? More like dinner.... As local Richmondites (just moved here) we thought we would go to the Post Office for a birthday lunch, I'm not sure what planet these people are from but i do not get almost 2hrs for a lunch break? My order was an hour and a half late, when I tried to speak to the only waitress working there, she left while I was mid conversation (rude) once I did receive my pizza it was bland and soggy... Lesson learned never again!
Laura
My new favourite spot...Love it!!. I went to the post office about four weeks ago for a ladies night with the girlfriends..and wow! I could not possible speak more highly of the place. I had actually been to the post office months and months ago, but this time it's got me hooked. The food, service and atmosphere on a busy friday night is exactly what we all needed and the food was to die for. We ordered five pizzas between the 8 of us and a few sharing plates...amazing! and the friendly waitress convinced us to try the chocolate mousse which was just superb. At about 9pm a DJ started playing from the wine racks located above the bar and we ended up drinking and laughing the night away until 1am when they closed. I have been back 3 times since with my partner and other groups of friends. The manager and the waitress even remembered my name from the initial booking and always come over to say hello.. Great place and great people...I highly recommend it!!

Owned by the sandhills group this place reflects their other venues, prahran hotel, bridge hotel ect, I like it, great pizza and cosy out door area, pretty crappy tap beer selection tho
Melbourne Glutton
Whilst cosy, the intimate setting meant we had to sustain great difficulties in trying to get the food from the plates to our mouths. One pizza pretty much covered a whole table and there were only two tables in the room.
