Review Love Pho - Richmond

Koalafood clan
Netted spring rolls: delicious! Highly recommend. Combo Pho: Rare beef (not rare, too cooked), brisket, beef balls & chicken breast slices (overcooked). Noodles and soup was ok, not something to run back to quickly. 3 colour bean drink: (not pictured): good tasty as expected but didn’t like the lumps of ice - really needed crushed ice so you’re not crunching ice rather than trying to enjoy your drink.

Second time dining here. Really tasty pho, kind and quick service, and such a great deal! Would recommend to anyone with a love for pho looking for a quick bite.

When I had a dinner time I came to here. Taste is sooo nice and a lot menu not friendly staff but I don’t care. The most important thing in the restaurant is taste. Why don’t have a customer... Beef noodle soup is amazing. But when I ordered spring roll, The lettuce was not fresh, and the amount was small.

Love this little restaurant. People need to go try this little gem of food joint. I know their name says Pho, but their a la carte menu is incredible don't let the appearance fools you. The Salted Fish fried rice is amazing, Spring Rolls is superb and so is other dishes. Have been coming here several times and proven that the food is consistent. Definitely will be coming back again and again.

I love the pho here and it comes in a huge bowl. Fresh ingredients and the owner is lovely. Highly recommend this place. My favourite place for Vietnamese food!

Fantastic food here. I have tried different kinds of pho and rice-noodles, as well as spring roll. The noddle in pho is pretty special, seems it’s refresh steamed which is very smooth and soft. Love it!

The beef pho is okay, pretty standard flavors. The atmosphere is not great, TV on really loud and noisy upstairs. Good cheap meal with no frills.

Great spot for a large bowl of pho. the rare beef or crispy chick is great. also if you want something with rice i recommend the grilled pork!
The Casual Diner
We came by here wanting some pho on a cold, rainy day. The soup was flavourful and tasty but on the sweet side. Portion size was generous though. Prices was decent for what you get and service was friendly. Always good to have a soup option for lunch in this part of town.

Our no.1 favourite place for Vietnamese. Food is fresh, simple and delicious. Pho is a stand out and don't leave without trying one of the dishes with the grilled chicken.
Generation Z
my vegetarian pho was mostly bok choy stems with a couple pieces of brocolli and carrot. Bland, cheap and nasty! The egg was so undercooked that it disintegrated into the broth! :-/

Another Authentic and tasty Vietnamese food in Richmond area. Friendly staff and quick service. Homemade wonton, spring roll and net spring roll tastes delicious. Pho also tastes great as well, not much msg. Grilled chicken is full of flavour. Price is reasonable as well. Will definitely go back, actually this is second time already.

We had a table of 10, I order Pho for dinner, it was really nice and fresh. Everyone else’s meals was great and very tasty. Service was great, and place was clean. Value for money was standard. Highly recommend giving this place a try.

Loved this place. It's an understated outlet near the corner of Swan and Church and what it lacks in snazzy decor it makes up for in quality of the food. I had a wonderful veggie pho in chicken broth, and it was crazy tasty. The broth was rich (possibly a little too salty), there were plenty of noodles and the veggies were crisp and delicious. Service was a little slow - we had to go up to ask about table service - but the food was served quickly. My friend had the vegan pho and said it was similarly outstanding. For just $12, the pho is excellent value. Some of the items on the menu seems surprisingly expensive, like the roti for $9. Already planning my next pho visit here.

Decent place for Pho. The Pho is nice, but I have been to a few better places on Victoria street nearby that were simply more flavourful. I eat a lot and the portion size was a tad smaller than ideal for me (I order the large portions of Pho at places that offer a large) - but since I eat more than average, for most people it would be fine.

The value for money is good and the service fine but nothing outstanding. If I was in that particular area and felt like Pho I would go there again for sure.

Small bonus is they also take Liven - though the tablet was unfortunately not working when I went there. If you use Liven then the value for money becomes 4/5 imo.

Food is pretty good and prices are reasonable. But I won't be back as the staff here have tried to 'accidentally' short-change me on more than one occasion. Petty, no?
Pho Sure
First time here, had the combination, not loving it, not bad but nothing to rave about. Nice tasting soup. Good ingredients. Smallish serving size.

This is the restaurant. best foods, best service and good price value. Mongolian beef with steam rice, salt and pepper squid, prawn and pork fired rice was perfect. for desert is 3 colour drink. omg it was amazing.

This place is great price value! I've had their laksa twice and it's really good! They're also happy to customise it which is great for people who try to cut out the carbs... Making the vegetable laksa without the noodles was no issues for them at all!
Suf
The Good: I had the Tom Yum with rice vermicelli which is tasty and has a nice amount of chicken in it. It's not overly spicy and is a very good amount of food for lunch. The price is also great at $12 for a good lunch. The service is also good although you have to pay at the counter.

The Bad: The place doesn't have much ambience and feels a little grubby around the edges (my spoon had a little grub on it). The table we sat on was also very annoyingly wobbly.
Costa
Good solid soups can be found at love pho. Personal favourite is the chicken laksa. Ask for seafood to be added. Also the beef and chicken pho is good as well, although quality can differ day to day.

Love Pho... so so

You know what... it's ok... not great not bad just ok.
This place was packed and I was literally sat by the front door. This meant eating with my coat on. When I asked how the waitress was she replied "not good" which I found pretty funny. Service wasn't great but I would like to think it was due to how busy they were. Food was average at best.

Would I recommend this place? Not if you love Pho.
Brungiel
The service was quick and typical. Bowl of beef pho came out super fast. Not enough chilli to add for my liking, really heavy on the noodles and the broth had a weird flavour, maybe too salty.

I ordered the Vermicelli (& salad) w combination spring roll & beef. Aside from me getting pork instead of beef, this traditional dish was disappointing & not worth $15. It was far from what it's suppose to taste like. The pork was dry (not fresh), couldn't taste or see any herbs and the sauce was bland. It tasted like something I would make for myself at home if I was on a health kick. I have to give them points for a clean and neat restaurant display, noodles were cooked to perfection, carrots and lettuce were very fresh which I appreciate.

This place is awesome. Best asian on Swan hands down... The below reviews are ridiculously picky. The Grilled chicken Vermicelli is unbeatable ! Highly recommend. Brilliant bang for your buck man.
Chris
Pho with rare beef was okay, ingredients mostly seemed to be fresh. Not the best first impression, will see if a return is on the cards.
Don Djoe
I had pho here and it was pretty decent. The soup was quite oily, so i expected it to be flavoursome. Too bad it was quite bland. The beanshoots were not fresh though and they only put two tiny slices of chili on a plate! Luckily i could order more. The food was reasonably priced. So i guess it was an ok experience.

Very good PHO. The owners are welcoming and always remember you. It is inexpensive and good quality. The broth is traditional and flavoursome.

Great place to visit when you're looking for a cheap, tasty meal. The venue is nothing fancy - but it's clean and comfortable which is always important. Food is always brought out fairly quickly and portion sizes are decent. For a reliable, filling meal you can't go past the 'Rice Vermicelli Chilli & Lemongrass'. A regular of ours!
Kate Dougherty
Lacks atmosphere and the meals all came out at slightly different times but otherwise it's a decent option for a casual and cheap dinner. I had the Vietnamese coleslaw with pork and prawns. The portion size was enormous but the flavours were great - very fresh and punchy.
Heidi
Visited love pho on a Saturday night, we had made a booking but it wasn't busy. I ordered the rice vermicelli noodles with salad and bbq pork garlic. It was quite nice but it was VERY garlic-y. I could still taste it a few hours later. Overall a good place to drop in for a quick bite before heading out.
CU_Foodie
The best beef pho in town and a great Vietnamese salad. That's all I've eaten but would highly recommend both. Much nice then the Victoria St places and still heaps of flavour.
Pepsi
Took my lady out for a Friday night feed. Had the rice paper rolls, Mongolian beef noodles and some dumplings & washed it down with a cola. The service was sub-par but it's cheap & cheerful enough to warrant another visit.
The Food Traveller
Horrible Spring rolls, horrible rare beef pho and horrible chicken pho. The rare beef slices are not tender at all. The only thing we enjoyed in this restaurant was the Vietnam beer Hanoi.
Nelly
My dad goes here regularly for pho. Of coarse he orders it with no coriander which for me is a huge no no. But he hates it, so each to there own.

I ordered a salad and got so much vermicelli that there really was very little actual salad. Not that it really made a difference as I wasn't that hungry to begin with. Which is why I went for salad. As usual the serving was so large I barely even put a dent in it. So for the price it's definitely good value. Much like most Vietnamese places. Nothing blowing my mind but fresh and quick. If you're in the area a good place for lunch that isn't too expensive or fatty. A bit high on the sugar intake in salads if you watch that. But that seems to be the go for Vietnamese in Australia.
Jason Olive
Chicken and black bean and spring rolls great but rice a little cold.
Spring rolls were the highlight.
Very well priced - perfect for lunch or a quick dinner.
Melbournian
Consistently good. Tasty Pho, so that's the most important thing. Also, they label their menu with what is gluten free, so another tick there. The stir fry's are also good, as are the fried rice paper spring rolls. As with most Vietnamese places; cheap and cheerful! Service is pretty good!
Melbourne Lifestyle Blog
One thing I am loving about the Melbourne food scene right now is the growing popularity of veganism. When I first started my blog, I was inspired to write reviews on vegetarian food because there were simple none out there. A restaurant was reviewed as being good for vegetarians if they had at least one veggie dish on the menu (no mention of how that one dish tasted), and I hoped to inspire others that vegetarian food could and should be wholesome and delicious. Nine years on and now even restaurants specialising in meat, have at least a couple of really tasty vego items.

Freshness is the key when it comes to Vietnamese food, and this place definitely doesn't buck the trend.

We started off with a serve of roti bread with a satay dipping sauce. Had that little bit of a chilli kick in the sauce which was awesome. The roti bread was good, but they tended to have the edges a bit dried out, however the majority went down well.

Had the vermicelli noodles with salad & grilled chicken which was great. The freshness, the coriander, and especially the chicken. Really nice and filled the spot.

Service was good & the guy serving us was polite. The food was served super fast. It was like we actually got served the roti bread before the wait staff even finished writing down our order (over exaggeration there, but I'm sure you can understand where I am coming from.

Downside was the set up of the tables. There was no real street feel of this little place. I just love those little cheap Vietnamese/Chinese restaurants that have the little stands on the tables with a whole bunch of chopsticks for the next 30 customers. The missing arrangement of your soy, fish & hoisin sauces on each table (we had to borrow someone else's from 3 tables away) and most importantly the bowl or flakes of chilli to accompany your meal. Was disappointing not to see these items on each table, however not a deal breaker.

This place is very disappointing. After living near Victoria st Richmond for years and now being close to footscray I've had a lot of amazing pho. I felt like I was getting a cold so I prescribed myself a bowl of the good stuff. Alas I chose to come here and got a bland, timid bowl of broth with soggy noodles and a ridiculously small amount of beef and chicken. Plus the minimum eftpos is $20 so I had to go to the 7/11 ATM and spend another 2 bucks thus increasing my disappointment. Do yourself a favour, drive up the hill to Victoria street and get the real deal.

It'll do.. Cheap and cheerful... In theory if not quite in practice. Shared a salad and a noodle dish, meals came quickly and as ordered, although the waiter gave the impression he couldn't care less about us or our order. Noodles were ok, salad had plenty of fresh crunch. A wine, a soft drink, dinner for 2 for $40 and we were on our way out to enjoy the rest of out night. Love Pho isn't a destination, but it does ok as a pit stop along the way.

Dinner review. 2 of us dropped in for dinner I had the char kway teow very plain and if I didn't ask it would have been a vegetarian dish worst version of this dish I have ever had
partner had BBQ pork with ginger sauce and liked it.
water provided wasn't even cold, seating against walls uncomfortable
not as good as Springvale
Birdman
Didn't love it didn't hate it. Tom yum soup with chicken was ok but not enough chicken. Chicken satay was good not great with a fair amount of gristle in the chicken.... Big portions though I will say that.

Dinner Review. That was amazing dinner with a very good service and friendly staffs.!!!!
Although the crispy beef was a bit spicy, it was very nice and tasty. I'll come back there for another time.

Below average pho. As an avid pho eater I was rather disappointed by the pho at Love Pho (especially given the name suggests that this is one of their specialties!). The broth tasted like salt and lacked the depth of a traditional pho broth. Further, the beef was of poor quality and the sides that are traditionally served with pho were very sparse. I had to request some more fresh chilli as 2 small rings were certainly not enough! Unfortunately I won't be returning to Love Pho when there are several other places to enjoy pho around Richmond!

Love Pho!. Great Pho & Spring rolls + good price with friendly staff. We ae regular customers for ages.

Great food and great value. Had a quick dinner before a show. 11 of us ate well and happily for $180 - less than $17 ph. No corkage. Staff were friendly attentive and efficient. We will return.

Love pho?...more like hate pho. We made a booking pho 8 ocklock, but they phogot about it. What do you take us for, phools? The service was phofull, and we were payed pho attention. The interior design is far from phonominal. The best thing about this phorrible place, was the pho.
IsFoodIsGood
One of the cleaner Pho places I've visited. Big servings for a reasonable price. Can't complain.

So pho king good!. Ok, so I like pho, but really it's not my favourite dish and I usually order bun when I'm eating Vietnamese. However, on a cold wintery night down on Swan Street I decided soup seemed to be the best option - and it was delicious! I had the rare beef pho, and every element of it was just right. Such a tasty and flavoursome broth, silky smooth noodles and melt in your mouth beef - balanced out with lime, chilli & basil and I just couldn't stop eating it. I may have even said at the time that it was "the best pho I've ever had", and that's compared to pho I've had in Vietnam, Victoria street and the city. Never before have I enjoyed pho so much, and it is still on my mind weeks later! I have had the bun here before, which was standard (but didn't leave me raving about it), and the papaya salad is nice. Seriously though, I can't wait to go back for more pho and was so excited to find such a good place so close to home!

Food was cold and just not very good and the place was way too noisy. Can't recommend it.
Disappointed
Disappointed with the food and service. Pho was tasteless, chicken ribs (as advertised on the menu) didnt come with vegetables. When we asked if the vegetables were coming, we were told that there was a 'little' mistake on the menu!!!! No apology given, we just dismissed! And what's even worse, the dish didnt even come with rice!!!

Not worth going to and wasting your money! Just make the trip to Vic st instead!
Taegen Roberts
Ok... The Bun here is pretty good! Worth coming back for. But I felt like a curry the other night and what I got isn't what I would traditionally call a curry and was fairly disappointing. But, I guess I'll know for next time what not to order!

Great little Viet right here in Swan Street. No need to trek up to Abbotsford when the pho, noodles and service here are top class.

A good selection of vegan, vego and omnivore plates and all keenly priced.

Discovered this Last week an I'm already back for more!!! The vegan pho is delicious. My partner loves pho so to be able to go somewhere and have the option to eat it was awesome!!! Thanks guys

I love this restaurant for its simple, no fuss great food. Salt and pepper rockling is a bit too nice to be legal! It's a regular for me and never disappoints

Great food. Quick and delicious. Cheap too :)

I work 3 doors away from Love Pho and eat there probably 3 times a week, the rare sliced beef pho and the pork spring rolls are fantastic, I can't get enough of them. The broth is always excellent, the service varies from indifferent to fine, and I always leave re-fueled and happy. Excellent value for money.

No love was found. Alright guys, this is my opinion about this place.
To be honest, I really like 'Love Pho' I went to this restaurant with my mates the other day to celebrate. But this is the tick to it...
The Beef Rice Noodle Soup(Pho) was alright, the taste ain't bad but the beef they used for my soup, was a definite NO! Taste like...its been outside for several days possibly, thats my assumption.
The duck was a definite rip off, the meat was so appalling... The meat was too mushy, no flavour, texture-less...
I'm Vietnamese myself, but I reckon this restaurant wasn't too bad compared to the ones I've been to, its definitely got the Vietnamese background to it.
Also, friendly staff, price of the food was decent for its taste.
Cafehead
Eight visits and counting. This place has become our new favourite temporary living room. Service is above average for the genre, friendly and fast, with food and beer hustling out in the sort of speeds that give crappy fast food "restaurants" a run for their money. That plus some quirky VietBeers and Kiwi wines mean the boys and girls are pretty much covered. Start with the Pho as your base dish but work your way around the menu. Let Ethyn do your ordering for you if you just want to focus on your company.
Stuart Beswick
Great place, friendly staff, usually busy and the pho is wonderful
E
Had a few dishes as a take away and it wasn't great... One dish was far too salty and the others were less than impressive. Travel the extra 5/10 mins to Victoria st for some better Vietnamese!
K
Used to go there a lot a few months back.the waiter was really nice,so was the food. went there tonight and found out that the menu has changed. We ordered beef and chicken pho.the soup look pink and brown, both taste like it has chemical in them.we didnt have the soup at all because thats how bad it taste.we have no idea what they put in there.it did not taste like pho at all.Very dissapointed.
Rudiger
Great place, decent food. Great place, decent staff. Food is above average and a reasonable price for the city. Range is a bit small for Asian places, but is good. Recommended.
Mike
Good stuff. We had the crispy beef and pad Thai, both tasty and large servings and good value for money! Would go back again

New menu or owners?. I used to LOVE Love Pho. Some great memories created there whilst devouring the salt and pepper calamari and some Pho Ga! But, something has changed. The staff are still great, there is a new menu, and I think the quality and authenticity of the food has fallen by the wayside. Really disappointed with my meal last night. Unfortunately this will likely mean I wont be back, after such a long and great history, I am a bit sad!

This restaurant is a gem! The staff are friendly, the food is tasty and grreat value. The lunch time specials menu is a bargain. I regulary have the traditional PHO soup and which is served with a side of Fresh Red Chilie, beanshoots, Fresh Basil and sauces,
LJW
Pho broth is rich with nice texture, and they give you the option of well done beef for those less keen on raw beef. The vegetable rice paper rolls are great. Recommend for a no frills delicious lunch or dinner.

Go to love pho about once a week. The manager is lovely, always happy to make a recommendation. The pho is delicious, and banana fritter is great for dessert.

Very good Vietnamese restaurant in Richmond. I frequently dine at Love Pho for lunch and dinner and just love the food there. As starters I love the rocket prawn or spring rolls dish, followed with salt and pepper squid and then deep fried ice cream to finish. The food there is really fresh coupled with friendly services - a truly great place to dine with family and friends.
Alexandra Peters
Great for lunch. Love the $9 lunch specials, you can't go wrong with the soup. Comfortable, great looking little Vietnamese restaurant with fast, friendly service and good food!
