Review Stirr It Up Cafe - Ringwood

Peiching Kuan
Huge space in the cafe. Food was not bad, egg benedicto was average but beef burger is recommended. You may walk to Ringwood Lake after having meal in Stir in Up

The environment is spacious and clean. The owner is a Chinese couple. The dishes are mixed with a little Chinese elements.

i love it here!! well shaded and has spots in the sun too!! i wanted my brunch to be slightly altered and they delivered perfectly!! the waitress was so kind and was checking on myself and the others making it a very comfortable environment! (their thick shakes are excellent!!) def recommend to pop by if you’re around ringwood :)!!!

Great coffee enjoyed after a leisurely tootle along the bike track. Relaxed and pleasant service too, thanks

Good food. Nice staff. The only thing wasn't good was their toilet. It was not clean and no baby changing facility. The cleanliness of your toilet is a huge reflection of your cleanliness of your business and staff. I know it's not mandatory to have baby changing facility but it would definitely get more parents with babies in before or after their walk at the lake.

Fantastic cafe right near Ringwood Lake and the park. You MUST go here for you coffee, cake, brunch. Coffee is great, staff friendly and top shelf muffins. We go a lot and today 13 month old got a complimentary smiley cookie for smiling and brightening their day! 5 Stars!

Conveniently located within walking distance of Ringwood Station and Eastland, directly opposite Ringwood Lake. Great coffees and delicious food with plenty of space inside and outside. Shout out to the special O.G. Chicken Burger and Wrap It Up.
Homewood Consulting
Delicious food, great coffee and friendly staff. I highly recommend coming here.

Unfortunately this place seems to have changed hands and has gone downhill drastically. The loud Chinese music inside was very distracting and coffee average. We ordered the potato hash which was very average and came in a soup bowl which was a bit bizarre and hard to cut the toast. Kids meal was good and service was good, toilets need a clean. Won't be back

I went there with Katie this morning and I had a Skinny Vanilla Thick shake and Kate had a Skinny Latte. We both shared a bowl of Chips together. The staff were kind to us and the service was quick.

A change of scenery for the two of us and tried Stirr It Up Cafe, a non descript place from the outside, but wow, inside it's an absolute treasure. Now I'm not talking funky, retro Brunswick style cafe, I'm talking good food, good service and sweet treats to die for.

We arrived at 10am and by 10.30 it was very busy. We left at noon because we felt guilty sitting on a table that others clearly needed.

We dined inside as it's winter but there were others dining out the front. In summer it would be gorgeous, brollies up and dogs abound. In fact when we left there were already some pups arriving in their little chariot. Go to caninesatcafes on other platforms to see what the fuss is about.

Anyway, back to the good stuff - the food. I had beans on sourdough and my friend the hash which both were great. Good portion sizes and very tasty. My banana smoothie was superb and a large latte is....large!

There are sweet treats at the counter that will have your mouth watering as well. Should've taken something home for afternoon tea.

Toilets are unisex, disabled friendly and clean.

Kids welcome. Wheelchair friendly. Plenty of parking either out the front or across the road.

Big shout out to Cass who was just the most delightful waitress for our table. Thank you Cass.

So this is a must try, away from the madness at Eastland. And it's across the lake so you can walk off your meal with a little stroll.

Enjoy!

Bad services. Staff messed up the order and still charged for the extra dishes. Even after we insisted we didn't order them. They just put them down on the table and not willing to take them back. Very disappointed.

I had the mushroom bruschetta and it was amazing. A perfect brunch/lunch cafe with very polite staff. The coffee was perfect and I wouldn’t hesitate with recommending this place. Keep up the good work!

The owner treats staff disgustingly. I used to love this cafe, worked here for a month before leaving after owners treatment. She often breaks labour laws and her attitude towards new staff is shocking. PLEASE DO NOT SUPPORT THIS BUSINESS. Supporting this business is supporting exploitation of young workers.
Alano
Not a 3.6 cafe, maybe around that area but not as a whole.
Service was friendly.
Food was fair. Just the usual flavours. Mushroom bruschetta had too much balsamic glaze without a balancing agent such as hollandaise.
Coffee could be warmer than what was served. The top foam was cold.
Shake overpriced for quantity and quality.

Love this place. Unpretentious, great coffee and in an out of the way nook of Ringwood (just far enough away from Eastland!). They have amazing fresh muffins and slices and a delicious breakfast menu-seriously, try the HashHug!!
Stirr It Up Cafe in Ringwood is a firm local favourite for brunch.

My partner and I dine here at least once or twice a month and we always look forward to visiting again. The service is impeccable and the coffee strong yet delicious. The female barista has excellent attention to detail and puts a lot of love into brewing her coffees.

The food is equally as impressive, with some of my favourites being the Veggie Breakfast, The Hash Hug and the Benedicto. They also make some of the best freshly squeezed juices in the area which are both cleansing and refreshing when a coffee feels a little too heavy.

Their All Day Breakfast Menu runs until 3pm, which is perfect for late weekend risers like myself.

Love grabbing my morning coffee from here. They are always so friendly and the coffee is amazing (could be a little hotter for takeaway, but that's only if I'm being picky) the food I've had has been good too. I love the pre paid coffee cards, so handy.

Went to try this place but I am guessing they are only wanting regulars. We went in and asked for a table for 2. The waitress said wait here and wondered off. She walked away from us then a minute later walked back and started talking to people. Meanwhile 2 people walked in, a waitress came up and took them to a table. The other waitress then came back and told us we could stand around and wait for 5 minutes while they cleared a table. I don't know why it takes 5 minutes to clear a table that had a glass in it or why other patrons were seen as more important to us. In 2 minds as to whether we try again. Most likely not as there are other options with friendly staff. If we do, I will update the review.

Amazing coffee and great friendly staff, there house made cake are pretty delicious unfortunately the food doesn't hit the mark for this nice place

Coffee and gluten free camel slice can't go wrong.

Went in 30 mins till close and more than happy to stop and have a chat!

Great customer service and very accommodating!

This cafe gets a 4 from me for three reasons. The fact they use Axil coffee (specialty coffee in an unassuming coffee shop in ringwood is awesome), they always have great customer service, and their soups are SOOOO TASTY. The soups are always different, and the the thick pureed kinds you can dipyour sourdough into without it going soggy.
Keep up the good work guys 👌👌

Just off the plane early Sunday morning found this gemmmm coffee perfection. Kick back enjoy lovely staff laid back place, great food, good music, do it again
I've been to many coffee places around Melbourne and this place has to serve the smallest mug of coffee out of them all. Plus, when I questioned them they were rude and defensive. Not worth the $4.30, coffee wasn't even that good. The only reason they are getting 2 is because I haven't tasted their food.
Just to make an edit, they told me their mug was 16oz which I thought was pretty ridiculous, so I looked up how many mls in 16oz and it's 470!! They can not honestly tell me that tiny cup of coffee was almost half a litre!

This was a quiet but welcoming cafe, and our experience was great for the most part. There was a yum looking menu, with several specials that left one spoilt for choice. I couldn't go past the benedicto though. I'm a sucker for a good looking benedict. It was pretty much your classic benedict in terms of what was included. Everything was just nice. Bacon, eggs, bread and the sautéed spinach was perhaps one of the nicest I'd ever eaten. The hollandaise was the cracker though. It was just beautiful, and complex even. It started with a nice tartness on the tongue, and finished all silky and smooth on the palate. Genius--don't know how they did that. The smoked paprika also added a little extra complexity too. Sadly, it wasn't all brilliance. My partner had the softshell crab burger, and it was a disappointment. Flat, tasteless and sparse softshell crab was inside--really quite a rip-off. It was vastly overpowered by the slaw, which was the other burger filling. The slaw actually tasted very good, but was so overkill! There was so much of it inside without much crab at all. The burgers change regularly, so hopefully that isn't a model they apply to all of their burgers. I would still come again on account of the other good menu options, the benedict and the fresh juices.

Visited here today for lunch with my daughter. Greeted by very friendly staff and I must say it's nice to go to a cafe with such a variety of delicious no nonsense food. There is something for everyone here. My daughter had the grilled chicken wrap which was served with super crunchy chips and I had the lemon blueberry muffin both of which were delish. Serves were very generous. Coffee was the best I've had in a while. Keep up the good work guys. We'll be back for sure.

Came here on a Sunday arvo and continue our hunt for good brekkie places in the east. Greeted by friendly staff where Stirr It Up is conveniently located on Maroondah Hwy, and can be easily missed! Coffee is by Axil Coffee Roasters in Hawthorn and it was equally amazing. Food didn't take long to arrive at all and was pretty good! My Spanish omelette was a little on the watery side but bread was toasted nicely. C had fritters and he said it was really yum too. Definitely would give this a try again! Can't believe I was so slack and didn't even take much photos!

Great value. Brilliant service with a smile. Delicious breakfast which was more than enough food. Highly recommended the Big Boy Breakfast for anyone wanting a truly big breakfast for under $20.

It's good to have a place here in Ringwood that serves good coffee with friendly service. It's located along a main road so pretty noisy if you're sitting outside. They do provide red blankets to keep you warm though. There's not a lot of good coffee around here so I guess it's relative but I think can keep improving on the brew.
Moon
This is my absolute favourite cafe! I found this hidden jem on zomato and decided to give it a go. Their banana smoothies are delicious I get one every time I go. A favourite of mine is the minestrone soup or Spanish omelette! Not to mention the array of freshly baked muffins and slices, I can never choose just one to take home with me. The staff are always so lovely too and their coffee is awesome :)
FoodFitter
The FoodFitter needed some well deserved protein so he decided to pop into this lovely cafe and have Breakfast. Ordered the Benidicto and it was pretty awesome! Coffee was a little weak for my taste buds but hey I like my coffee strong just like my squats. Great friendly staff and simple and modern design. Keep stirr-ing it up....
Labg65
Great coffee, friendly staff and gorgeous owner. Do yourself a favour and try one of their brownies, gooey, moist chocolaty with a slight crunch on top. Best I have had in a while.

Came here with my little one for lunch today. Really liked it, why?
- delicious creamy coffee
- AMAZING tomato and lentil soup with tasty toasted bread
- good vibe; super friendly and attentive staff
- spacious, not over crowded with furniture like some places
- they had high chairs
Only down side was that I didn't get my take away muffin warmed up.

Overall I had a really great experience. Would definitely return or recommend to others.

Visited this place at late lunch hour so had limited choice. We ordered hot choc, foccacias, Mush bruschetta, crossiants and a bowl of wedges. Foccacia and Bruschetta was pretty average, the accompainiments with wedges were good. Staff was very courteous and ambience is average.
AaronN
Oh yes. Lovely service. Lovely food - we had a simple hearty minestrone, corn fritters with egg avocado and smoked salmon, and chips, all of which is delicious. I walked away thinking of other items on the menu that inwould be having next time i visit.
Mr Killer
To be blunt, that was a bit of a shocker. My wife and I had the misfortune to have the two weakest, luke warm, bitter tasting coffees we have ever been submitted to. Dreadful stuff. However, out of respect to my fellow reviewers who love it here, I will leave it at that.
Elspeth De Fanti
A fantastic cafe. Lovely staff and great ambience. Enjoyable food. Courteous staff who weren't overbearing or trying too hard. Will be back!
Bagero
Coffee was great and service was good, but the food... wasn't great to say the least. We ordered the steak burger and eggs benedict. The portions was generous, but the quality was sub-par. They taste like something that can easily be whipped up at home. If I return, it would just be for the coffee and massive muffins.

Stirr It Up is a fairly newer addition to the Ringwood specialty coffee scene (if Ringwood does have this said scene!). The dining space is your typical Melbourne café interior – wood, retro stools and open space, with a painting of a pretty complicated looking coffee drip as the centre piece on their main wall.
Out And About
When you are this far out of the city, you approach any cafe with caution. You sniff the air trying to gauge the quality of beans, you look for tats on he barrister (and beard if applicable) for coffee-cred, you look for a reputable coffee machine and grinder... One can never be too careful out here.
I had a pleasant surprise at Stirr it Up. Respectable coffee... Nice work!
Jennifer Trueman
Friendly service... really well cooked and fresh breakfast, and great value for money. Quick service which I love!
Will definitely be going back.
Love this local cafe because the staff are so nice and warm!! It's helps a lot esp with a bub in tow. Food is good too. We're mostly there for breakfast and the coffee are decent.

I grab a coffee here every chance i get before I start work. Near my work I'm surrounded by at least 5 other coffee joints but traveling the extra few minutes to Stir It Up has never been a disappointment. Had a burger the other day not sure what to expect, and WOWZA it was one of the most beautiful, delicious things I've ever put in my mouth. Defintely the best I've tasted in the Eastern suburbs. Staff are aways smiling!

Surely they have more in store, we just need to visit and explore more.

Always excited to see new Specialty Coffee Cafe opening up, especially in a not so known area for it, like Ringwood (even with Eastland now).

Great spot, always easy to park and well set up.

We've been there a few times and always satisfied with their offerings, whether be coffee or Sweets, yeap those Gigantic Muffins, we are yet to try their breakfast nor lunch.

One of the most pleasant service we've experienced and great baristas.

Given the opportunity we shall do so.

I have been to Stirr it up a few times since I last blogged and the other day finally took some pictures! Once again everything was amazing. From the friendly service to the amazing coffee and tasty food. I was one happy foodie!. Hubby came to Stirr it up with me and after going through their menu he decided on the hamburger but asked if they could do grilled chicken instead. As always there were more than accommodating. I chose the steak sandwich with fries and of course my weak latte!

Good cafe in Ringwood. We come here quite a bit. Nice coffee, decent food, great muffins. My little boy loves the colouring in too! Would definitely recommend to others who are looking for something decent in the area.
Laura Bath
Love this cafe, the staff are always really friendly and some of the best coffee I've had has been from here. The breakfast menu is fantastic in particular - it is extensive and there are plenty of extras to add if you feel like something in particular. The home-made relish is delicious! Always return when I'm in the area.

Lovely café!
Been for lunch a few times now and it never disappoints. The food comes out quickly, and it tastes as good as it looks! My personal favourite being the pulled pork bun which I highly recommend.
The coffee is definitely something to boast about as it has become a part of my morning ritual.
The staff are very welcoming and friendly which is definitely a great kick start to any day!

5/5

Went here for breakfast today, average at best unfortunately. Firstly, very good customer service, among the best we have had, the kitchen let this cafe down. Coffee came out quickly, could have been hotter and had a slight bitter after taste, but ok. My poached eggs with mushrooms came out after a longer than usual wait and they were over cooked and the mushrooms were very bland and tasteless. My wife's dish with eggs was cooked well and she enjoyed it? Don't understand why the difference. Overall a pretty good cafe, maybe we had a bad day, impressive and will try again before making a final decision. Exceptional wait staff make it a 3.5 score.

Such a lovely place. So friendly, so accommodating and perfect for my toddler. The coffee is excellent. Thanks for giving me a place to sit and enjoy my morning (or arvo) coffee! Muffins aren't bad either :)

Possibly the best kid friendly cafe in the SE suburbs. No problem for a table of 10 adults and 4 infants.

Friendly staff, delish beekkie menu and always a good for a great cup of coffee.
Daniel Colbeck
Service was very friendly. Coffee is somthing that should be celebrated and the serving sizes where good. Average cafe prices and would go again:)

One of the nicest toasted focaccia (Turkish bread) I've ever had. It took forever for a take away order however. Coffee was lovely, but the lemon slice was just too sweet for my liking; too much icing in relation to the slice. Decorating was vast, it needs something to make it a little more welcoming.
EdSnails
Love it!
This is my new local.

Great food. Nice and open.
Great coffee. Staff are really friendly.

Enjoyed everything we tried here!
Lamb burger, hot chips, seafood pasta, mushroom risotto. Yum

Parent friendly - high chairs, baby change facilities, room for prams inside, good babychinos.
MummyCino
A gem of a cafe in Ringwood - the staff were absolutely lovely and so attentive. Coffee (soy latte) was superb - I am yet to find another cafe in the area that can do such an awesome job with soy milk. The raspberry and white chocolate muffin is divine as well. I'm looking forward to coming back for a meal. Parent note: little ones are well looked after with colouring sheets, there's high chairs and plenty of space for prams and the babycinos come with a marshmallow.

Edited to add: 6/7/15 - came back for lunch and everyone enjoyed their order. Also discovered that there are baby change facilities. Definitely the best family-friendly cafe around the area!
Kym Piez
Such friendly service (there's even blankets to cover your lap if you decide to eat outdoors), delicious meals and amazing desserts! You must try the brownies. To die for! x

Great cafe, friendly staff and the best coffee in Ringwood. Refreshing and vibrant place that cannot be beaten. Great work for a cafe that has only been open for a year

Great little cafe!. Loved it! Food was great and very flavoursome...coffee was also really good but the real winner here is the owner Julie...What an absolute delight! Excellent service by a super friendly, happy owner...Lovely to see! Hope they continue to knock it out of the park! We will be back!

Great place for breakfast. Had breako here today. Was awesome tasty service was superb staff were amazing.

Only downside although v little was the coffee
Shea Alyce
Amazing cafe!! So highly recommended. We are breakfast snobs, and they make the most perfect poached eggs and smashed avocado on sourdough. So delicious! Everyone should try this cafe
Allyjbailey
Amazing cafe. AMAZING STAFF!! The friendliest happiest staff ever. They do an amazing scone and brownies and some awesome toasted sandwiches. They even have blankies on the chairs outside if it's a bit cold!! Definitely worth a visit!

Best cafe. We go their for brunch. They do a fantastic scone and brownie and the best toasties ever.
The staff are AMAZING!!!!! Always friendly and happy. They even have blankets on the chairs outside if it's a bit chilli!

Amazing food and service. I have been here quite a few times and have never been disappointed with their breakfasts! My favorite breakfast is the bubble & squeak, a delicious homemade vegetable Pattie with poached eggs and spinach! The staff are really lovely, definitely recommended!
Love.to.eat.
Great breakfast but disappointing coffee and overpriced meals. Really enjoyed our breakfast here. The hollandaise sauce is amazing - I could've licked it off my plate but was disappointed with the coffee. I think it's more of a problem with the young barista not knowing how to make a proper cup rather than the coffee itself! Nonetheless, a great place for a meal. Decor lovely and staff are all friendly. Pricing is a bit too expensive for a an Outer East cafe though.
Deanmizzi25
Came a long way!!. Been in two minds past few days of what to write up about this place, Travelling from Brunswick where a lot of decent cafes keep popping up I was told to check out this new cafe in ringwood that aimed to bring the Brunswick style cafe into the outer East upon arriving I thought the place looked good the tables and decor were obviously well picked and the layout seemed simple and inviting, I was seated by a friendly waiter and given water.

I ordered a late and few minutes later a Benedicto and even tho the place was fairly busy I must say the food came out promptly, the coffee on the other hand came out half way through my meal and was quite tasteless like I had ordered a weak late. Being a long time axil customer I guess I had set an expectation of what It would taste like and is why I was happy to wait.

Not being big on confrontation I expressed my dissatisfaction only to cop a very abrupt sarcastic reply from the barista whether I wanted her to make me another coffee!

This place has a lot of potential but for a place to be using axil roasters they need to nail each and every coffee that comes out and a place like this which has only freshly opened shouldn't be so defensive when it comes to feedback.
The rest of the experience was enjoyable! If asked I would give this place another go maby in 6 months time when there bit more settled maby it was a one off but hopefully they're staff are bit more pleasent this time!

Inner Melbourne Cafe meets Eastside!. I have been living in Ringwood for 5 years now and have been traveling to Camberwell, Hawthorn and Carlton for a good coffee, now all has changed!

Finally a cafe in Ringwood that has a great breakfast/brunch menu and premium coffee that makes me keep coming back!

Great industrial decor, friendly staff, amazing chefs and wonderful baristas, this place really is perfect!
Un Caffe Latte
Had high hopes. Unfortunately with so many good places opening up now in the eastern suburbs, these guys are going to have to pick up their game. Coffee was bitter and the food was average, not bad but not good, which is a great pity.
Tha_wav_machine
Best cafe in Ringwood!!. I've lived in Ringwood most of my life and FINALLY we have somewhere to go locally for a really nice coffee!
This place has wonderful service, the people are absolutely lovely and make a real effort to get to know all of their customers.
The food is also really really good and a very reasonable price!
Well done guys :)
Bec_695
Great Cafe. Great little cafe! friendly staff! amazing food! only downside is the price of their meals, I think they should be a few dollars cheaper!

-----25 Sep, 2014-----

Great Cafe. This strip of shops was in need of a great little cafe like Stirr It Up! Food & drinks are great, the only thing I could comment on is some of the lunch menu items are a little bit over price. Most people don't want to spend much more than $13 on lunch! Other than that, it's great :)
Lauren Ricci
Coffee and food were nice, but I wasn't very impressed with the service. It wasn't busy, we weren't greeted at the door, we had to get our own menus and seat ourselves. The waiter also seemed disinterested and snobbish.
Amanda Peters
Pure awesomeness! Great set.... Pure awesomeness!
Great set up
Lovely staff
Delicious food
Perfect atmosphere
JR
Amazing Coffee. A fantastic cup of coffee with gorgeous latte art too! And don't forget to try a killer chocolate brownie.

YES! YES! YES!!!. FINALLY a decent cafe in Ringwood, with beautiful, friendly and helpful staff! I was only able to swing by for a take-away coffee, but let's be honest - that's what it's about isn't it? Caffeine? Well, it was AMAZING!! Stirr It Up use beans from Axil, and they are definitely on to a good thing, delicious! Being a brand new baby, once they get their finishing touches up, this place will look amazing! I cannot wait to get back there for a lazy morning brunch and get into their smashed avocado!! Love your work guys!!
StevenJoshua
Great in every way!. I love this cafe already and it's only been open a week. Every aspect of this cafe has been thought about and carried out with excellence. The menu is great with all day breakfast which is a must. With items like baked eggs and smashed avocado you can't go wrong. THE COFFEE!! These guys have made a great decision and have chosen Axil coffee roasters in Hawthorn to be their supplier. This just shows that they are serious about their coffee.
The staff are amazing and go out of their way to make your experience the best it possibly could be.
If is in its early days and there are a couple of areas in the interior that are yet to be completed but all in all this cafe is a winner and I can see it only getting better in the coming weeks!
Congratulations to the Stirr It Up team for starting a great cafe in the Ringwood area. (It was much needed)
