Review Gami Chicken And Beer - Ringwood

Came here with my friends to eat some chicken and corn cheese!! The food was great! Definitely would come back again. Hudson, the waiter was very friendly and made the night with his service.

Such a great dining-in experience on a busy Friday night. The robot waiter is so fun, the staff are lovely and really helpful answering questions about food intolerances. The manager(/owner?) is a warm, engaging and friendly guy who makes all his dining guests feel like family. Food came out quickly and was delicious. Thanks everyone!

Pretty disappointing experience dining here tonight. My mate and I both ordered the half chicken (which includes 2 sides + sauce). When the waitress brought our chicken with nothing else, we asked about the sauces. She questioned us as if we’d never originally ordered them, despite both telling what we wanted upon placing the order. She brought these back for us but then we had to ask why the 2 sides had not been included. Once again she asked if we wanted these as if they’re not already meant to be included. Upon returning she only brought 1 coleslaw and after I asked where the other one was she replied “Oh, do you want one too?” Perhaps she was new so I quietly explained that the meals we ordered are actually both meant to include these sides and a sauce. After finally being given a coleslaw each we then had to ask for knives and forks! It really did feel as though the staff were having a major off-night. The food quality was lovely, but it shouldn’t be the customer’s responsibility to educate staff on the menu.

Ordered 2 half boneless chickens and both came out with no slaw and the chicken was horrible. Eaten gami from other stores no problem. Wife ordered a burger and wad over cooked with old slaw. Disappointing

Good outpost of a popular chain. The restaurant is not very enclosed and is open to the centre walkways and escalators up to Hoyts so it can get quite loud. The Boneless Chicken is always great to share and we love the Gami chips. It was a bit difficult to book a table, online booking was showing not available ever and phone calls did not get picked up many times (tried on a few different days).

Gami chicken burger - lunch special. $13 with chips and Tommy sauce... Nuf said. Such a great deal. Delicious 2 piece chicken burger with coleslaw and the chips are sooo good!

A great tasting fried chicken restaurant that puts the effort in to make their chicken taste amazing. I came here with my partner on her recommendation; I loved the decor and environment which put us to a good start. The sauces provided didn't look generic, which made me excited for what w as d to come. The chicken reminded me of KFC, but 100x better in taste. Loved it here, will definitely be back

Liked the idea of chicken + cheese and most importantly cold beer at a very reasonable price 🍺🍺🍺🍺

Gami chicken is one of my favourite fried chicken franchise so I was excited to see one pop up my local shopping centre Eastland. Located right next to the cinema, it is the perfect spot to swing by before/ after the movies or even to take inside. We ordered with our eyes ( as you do ) and ended up with probably way too many dishes but I am proud to say we demolished them all. We ordered the original chicken with bone and half half garlic soy and sweet chilli chicken all on the bone. For the sides we got the potato heaven ( which was like heaven) , kim chi pancake, bulgogi beef, Korean dumplings , mozzarella sticks and some Korean chicken burgers. The chicken was juicy and tender, crispy on the outside but still retained moisture on the inside. We thoroughly enjoyed the cheese sticks which we were told were made in house and not an item that all Gami stores offer due to how hard it is to make , I will be buying a few to snack on if I ever go watch a movie for sure. The potato heaven is a dish I order every time I visit Gami and the one here was delicious, a lot of cheese on top of creamy mash with heaps and heaps of sour cream and sweet chilli- perfection ! All in all we had an amazing time at Gami, the service was quick and staff extremely friendly

We have been to Gami’s a few times now, and have enjoyed it every time. The service is great, the food amazing, and the jug of Korean beer.. priceless 🤗

What a amazing experience so bloody good . Relaxed service and the best chicken so good

I’ve been to gami a fair few times. I got the usual. Boneless chicken with sweet chilli sauce plus the potato heaven. But this time we also got the corn cheese.
The service was super friendly & the food came out really quickly as well. The chicken and potato heaven is always good & this time was the same. The corn cheese was delicious!

After receiving a burnt kimchi pancake and I asked for a change, the waiter came back and said the sous chef said the kimchi was supposed to be like this? So are you implying it’s supposed to come burnt?

But the front staff felt bad so she said if It tasted bitter I can ask for an exchange but I already did in the first place!

I’m a culinary student who graduated from one of the best schools in Australia so I would know when something is burnt of course!
I don’t know why they think i’m stupid but this is honestly unacceptable and I will not be coming back!

Would’ve rated higher as the food was delicious however the service was terrible, had to ask several times for the side dips to which the waitress responded both rudely and in disbelief after retrieving one we had to ask again for the others that were still missing followed by more rude disbelief.

Last night we tried Gami chicken for the first time with our kids. We ordered the Dinner for 2 for $45 which was a fantastic deal, option of either boneless chicken or whole fried chicken, 1 side dish and 2 small jugs of beer. We enjoyed the chicken as it was quite juicy and crispy, however I found the flavouring soy garlic and sweet chilli overly sweet for my liking. The freshness of cabbage coleslaw and pickled radish countered the sweetness of the flavouring. Hoping to try other dishes when we return.

Its been nearly 1.5 years since I last visited Eastland and I spent nearly all afternoon here. Its a nice change to shop, dine in a different shopping centre. I was starting to feel hungry and had no idea what to eat, I wandered around a bit and I spotted Gami Chicken. I really need a good Fried Chicken fix so I thought why not!!
Haha.

🔆LOCATION🔆
Gami Chicken is located on Level 2 amongst other spacious restaurants in that area on same side as Hoyts cinema.
The decor is very simple, with long high tables in the centre and normal standard tables surround the restaurant against the 2 walls and facing the main open frontage.

🔆SERVICE🔆
As soon as I walked in, the waitress at the counter greeted me with a smile and seated me straight away. She gave me menu and was very attentive when I asked some questions.

🔆MENU/PRICE🔆
Alot of options on the menu, wanted to try many things, next time need to make note to visit in a bigger group so can order other foods to share so can try more!

Gami Eastland has lunch special for $13.00, I was very tempted but then I just wanted to try their Korean Fried Chicken (KFC). So in the end I ordered:

8 piece original chicken wing (with 2 sauces), $12.50
I selected Soy Garlic which was cooked with the chicken, and honey mustard sauce on the side.

🔆VERDICT🔆
Yum yum yum!
The chicken was very fresh and tender. The batter was light. Very flavour-some. I was pleasantly surprised.
The Original KFC on its on without any sauce is a bit bland, therefore dipping it into the honey mustard sauce was good to give it some flavour. However, I particularly enjoyed the Soy Garlic which was lightly cooked through which still maintained its crispyness!

I like how it came with some sides of picked radish and salad - cabbage/coleslaw with mayo, however please do not add tomato sauce, it really ruined it.

Delicious chicken! The restaurant wasn't very crowded and the food arrived quicker than expected. Highly recommend the corn cheese! Variety of dishes for anyone to enjoy
Samminseokchun
The chicken size has reduced a lot over the years I feel. Not a lot of meat on the chickens now and just so much bone which makes it look big but not a lot to bite off. Plus the marinades and flavors were a little off with the sweet chili and garlic soy.
Food Traveller
First time eating and ordered from ubereats

Pleasantly surprised of how much flavour and how little oil there was compared to somewhere like kfc.

Definitely recommend if you are super hungry as it will definitely fill you up

I had the half chicken with original seasoning and a side of both the garlic soy and mustard dips along with an entree of the corn cheese (omg you HAVE to try it)

At the end of it I was satisfied and did not have that heavy greasy feeling you would expect.
Went there before movie the other night. We onlyd had 40mins before the movie but after waiting 20mins, they gave us raw chicken. The manger offered us free drink but no refund. We had to wait another 20mins and therefore late for movie.

This was my spot to satisfy a big hunger I had with a 20%discount coupon at eatclub! Located in the second floor of the Eastland shopping centre is this spacious setting with a very small crowd.

Got myself 12 wings with garlic and sweet chilli sauces. The prawn crackers and relish you get before is just the worst appetizer ever, but the wings were gooood.

The only issue here was that the menu had no Volcano sauce which is the best, and I'd chose garlic over sweet chilli for sure! Gami chicken does good chicken and this a goood spot!
AaronN
One of the better offerings available at Eastland. Chicken was nice and crispy and service was pretty good too. The chips and vegetable pancake sides were also good.
Manishka’s Foodie Diary
Chicken is cooked well and super crispy on the outside. The spicy sauce is super spicy so recommend is on the side. The service was ok but not very attentive.
Custardbun
Gami’s KFC is the best. We ordered whole chicken with bone, half sweet chilli and half soy garlic. Make sure you ask for the sauce to be mixed with the chicken - sweet chilli was the favourite. Could be more generous with the side of Korean coleslaw, although staff were happy to bring an extra bowl of pickled radish!
Fatboye
A rather fine establishment.
Very friendly service, and the chicken is always well made. None of that half-asses 2-3 pieces missing from your dish either. Good stuff, a place I frequent every 1-2 months.

You can honestly never go wrong with Gami chicken. Sweet soy was my favourite.
Sucker for their kimchi pancakes, corn & cheese and their potato heaven was real good!
Thanks Eastland!

Okay so it's no secret that I'm a fan of fried chicken right? I literally named a day of my week after it 😅. In saying that, something that might shock a few of you to hear is, I was never a big fan of Korean style fried chicken 🙄. That was until I tried @gamichickenbeer 😏
*
This mere morsel of a burger by my fat standards is the "Crispy Chicken Burger" which is a new addition to the menu from the Korean Fried Chicken Kings @gamichickenbeer in @eastland shopping centre!
*
🍔 Burger Breakdown 🤓
🐔 - Deep Fried Thigh Fillet
🥗 - Cabbage Coleslaw
🧀 - Apple & Gami Cheese Sauce
🍞 - On a Toasted Bun
🍟 - With a side of Chips Included
*
🍔 REAL GOOD TIME, ANY DAY OF THE WEEK! 🍔
This really was a well crafted and great tasting little burger! It says on all the posters around the store that this burger was made by Chicken Lovers. So 1, I don't know why they didn't come to me first because I'm basically the biggest chicken lover in Melbourne 😅 and 2, it's very clear that whoever they did get to create this burger absolutely knew what they were doing, this thing was good! 🙌🏾
The chicken was great! With a crispy outside and better than I was expecting juicy inside, it made this burger very enjoyable indeed!
The slaw was on point, very fresh, flavourful and crunchy 👌🏾
*
💸=$16.90 For the burger and a side of chips. I absolutely love the fact that it comes with chips and a decent sized serving as well! This added extra makes it worth the price in my book.
*
Being able to come into one of my favourite Korean Fried Chicken joints in Melbourne to try out their new menu is up there for me with some of the best moments of doing this whole food blogging thing! Sitting down, sharing great food like the "Potato Heaven" and the new "Beef Bulgogi" both of which are damn Excellent! With great people is something I've yet to take for granted and hopefully I never will. 🙏🏾
*
🧐TLDR= YOUR FAVOURITE KOREAN FRIED CHICKEN JOINT IS NOW PUMPING OUT FRIED CHICKEN BURGERS! 😮

Awesome friendly customer service with delicious fresh food. Their Chicken Burger is a must try. The only reason I gave it a 4 instead of 5 stars is because they serve you with a very little amount of sauce.

I was fortunate enough to join a bloggers table tonight at Gami Eastland to sample some of their KFC menu plus sides.

This store is located near Hoyts cinema and must be a relatively new fitout because it was very pleasant on the eye with pipping, logs bar stools and high and low dining.

The core ingredients KFC can come with our without bones in the original recipe or with various sticky sauce coatings. I normally am a traditionalist when it comes to Gami chicken so was glad to try the sweet chilli as well as the soy garlic on a 50/50 basis as well as a serve of the original. Their fried chicken is one of my favourites for a chain store and came nice and hot. I loved the garlic soy.

We had a couple of the burgers which were a perfect size for me and the accompanying chips were exceptional too.

Some of the other stand out sides and extras were the fried cheese sticks, prepared fresh in store. The Potato Heaven was perhaps the biggest hit with the table and was comprised of mashed potato, under cheese and wedges with sour cream and sweet chilli. Good lord they were good but heavy.

The dumplings were good, the Kim chi pancakes excellent and we also tried the beef bulgogi which is a new addition to the menu and branches away from the chicken heavy menu.

Thanks again for inviting us along to sample your fried chicken. Now that I have tried a couple of flavours I’m keen to try the spicy too at a future visit.

Was invited here last night to hangout and eat some chicken, and they well entruly exceeded expectations, The chicken was crunchy and I have to say, the potato heaven omg. It blew my mind, I ate the entire dish and barely shared. My bad guys. Top place tho!

Tried here before the movies. Venue has good seating and staff are friendly. The chicken is sometimes a little chewy and not tender. The chips are pretty tasty though and sauces.

Had a lovely lunch on a quiet Thursday here. Got the boneless chicken with sweet chilli and soy garlic sauce for dipping because getting the chicken marinated was $2 extra, strange. The chicken was amazing and so juicy with a great crispy skin. The hot chips were delicious too and came with a sweet chilli mayo. This was gonna be 4 stars if they didn’t play bts but finally airplane pt2 came on and gami deserves five stars now. Will come again but maybe for dinner because I’m so full.

You can't go past a Gami outlet and not have some chicken! Especially at this branch being quite new and fresh, Gami Eastland didn't disappoint. Having spent the last few hours lining up for an open casting call for our son for Purebaby, we needed a good feed. An order of our standard half half boneless was sure to satisfy our hunger.

A nice fresh layout with very pleasant service from staff makes Gami Eastland one to visit again and again. Till next time, this is Our Foodie Find!

12 outlets in Melbourne ?!?! I didn't expect it to be that many. This is the second Gami chicken I tried and it was a pretty good experience. The sauce wasn't the best but the chicken pieces were pretty tasty. We also got salad which tasted fresh and it's good to have it along with the chickens.
La Ola Es Mia Cocina.
Decent chicken burger and fantastic chips to go along with the meal, made it quite enjoyable here. I’d definitely like to try a few other things on the menu next time.

Good whole chicken (Honey Soy very very nice) but so disappointed in service. We ordered two whole chickens (one original one honey soy) plus a chicken burger off their lunch menu.
With the lunch menu you can get extra sides, including $2 chips. I wanted to order the $2 fries so my 2 year old could eat some and I could eat mine with my burger.
I was rudely told since my burger comes with chips I cannot order an extra side of chips unless I order another lunch item off the menu (most around $15 each). I explained that the extra chips were for my toddler and was told that they are starting a 'kids menu' from tomorrow and cannot order a day in advance.... even though they are already cooking up chips for me for my burger. Such garbage when I'm already paying $100+ at your restaurant for chicken for 5 adults.
For this reason I won't be returning. Shame on you.
They also all seem to have their break at the same time so if you see a bunch of loud people in black tees all sitting around a bench with the normal guests with their shoes off eating chicken, avoid this time.

Had dinner here on a Wednesday night, it was very quiet. Staff was average, it took a little while for them to take our orders. We ordered the boneless chicken with soy garlic and sweet chilli sauce, the potato heaven and gami chips. The chicken was good, very tender. Chips were great, super crunchy. The potato heaven was a major let down, it was too heavy and just didn't taste right. Overall, it was an average meal and we probably won't be back.

Came here for Sunday lunch. We love Gami chicken in city and great to see one locally in eastern suburbs! Ordered half boness chicken with honey soy. As delicious as city! Happy sunday ! :)

I thought I should try this place as the decor was nice. Chicken was a bit too oily. Portions size was good. Beer was good, a bit pricy tho.
MariaN
I heard great thing about this place however it was a bit of a let down. Ordered the chicken ribs and spicy chicken for 2. The ribs were bland and there was no sauce at all even to dip. The spicy chicken was okay not mind blowing, meh is a good word for it. The staff were young and unprofessional. The girl that served my partner and I tried to talk us out of ordering the ribs on top of the spicy chicken saying it'll be too much - some advice, I wouldn't try and talk customers out of ordering food at a restaurant.

The positive and why I'm giving a 3/5 was because of the beer. Hit the spot 👌 but won't be running back there in a hurry.

Worst Gami ever - on my third visit there I ordered my usual ddubokki - spicy rice cake dish. They used the old recycled rice cake!!! Red, broken and limpy cakes that you get when you reheat old rice cakes. Complained to the manager about it and she said she would call me for this matter and three weeks later, nothing. I told her I would not revisit anyway - why pay $13 when you can buy frozen ddubokki meal from a Korean shop which is a lot cheaper and fresher at least!! It is really disappointing that they can use old ingredients and think they can get away with it.

Can you believe I've never been to a fried chicken restaurant before? (KFC epic fail with .5 rating doesn't count.) I do love fried chicken though it's more of an occasional treat, every couple months. Nene & Gami seem to be the most popular places when it comes to Korean fried chicken, and there are multiple locations for both. With appointments at Eastland we stopped by Gami for a late lunch. Located above Coles and under the movies they weren't located in the food court.
David Harrison
We've been to a few Gami restaurants and was also impressed with the Eastland store. We enjoyed the food, especially the whole chicken and spicy chicken and service was good. We tend to have spicy and soy garlic sauces more often. It's a good place to just hang out with friends over a few beers and chicken. Will definitely be back.

Everything here is superb! The food and people too! My favourite is their Tteok Bok Ki with extra cheese on top and the Chicken Spare Ribs. So happy I could die.
K-eats
Terrible customer service! The waitress rolled her eyes when we asked for menus..?! The waitresses seem to be very poorly trained and lacked any motivation to work, There were only 4 - 5 groups of people in the whole place and you couldn't get any table service as they were too busy fussing about and checking their phones in the back of the cashier.
In regards to the fried chicken.....terrible!! This is probably the worst Gami franchise in Melbourne. We have been to the city Gamis many times and even the Hawthorn branch and they have been consistently good. The fried chicken at Eastland Gami's was not consistently cooked with some pieces still cold and in some cases raw in the middle. Also we ordered the Honey Soy glazed chicken and there was not enough sauce. We had to order more sauce on the side. Also the quality of the chicken was bad, with lots of 'grizzly' bits. Very disappointing considering you're paying over $34 for bits of fried chicken with sauce....and throw in 'customer service with an attitude' to boot! Probably more cost effective to buy a bucket of fried chicken at KFC for under $20 and self-glaze with your choice of sauces!
I had dinner at Gami Eastland in June with my husband and 18 yr old son. It had just opened and having lived in South Korea, we were keen to try it. Firstly, if you don't like fried chicken, you're in the wrong restaurant. This is basically a Korean version of Colonel Sanders Chicken, but nicer. I'm not a big fried chicken fan but I thought it was pretty good - the chicken was tender and not oily at all. Plus the chicken was boneless and easy to eat. I was impressed when our chicken came with 4 different dipping sauces: honey mustard, sweet chilli, soy garlic, and spicy. The chicken also came with a fresh salad that unfortunately had tomato sauce on top (why???!!!). We also had a serving of Mandu and drinks, the total cost worked out to $23 per person which I thought was quite reasonable. We couldn't eat all the chicken, so were able to take the leftovers home. If you love fried chicken, you'll love Gami.
Ricky Luk
Latest additional to the Gami chain, it is as good as the city stores and Carnegie. Chicken was crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. Service was also fantastic.
