Usual vietnamese fare. Cleaner than a lot of restaurants in Bankstown.
Highly rate the rice noodles and the pork chop witg rice.
Always busy, always decent food.
Service is prompt and foods comes out fast.
Always get a vermicelli bowl cause it's loaded with ingredients and opposed to other places which is majority all noodles.
Money is well spent here!
Came on a Cold Saturday night. We arrived just after 6pm and we still had to queue for a table.
It seemed like forever, but reality was at the most 5 minutes.
If you get a table to yourself, count yourself lucky. But be prepared to share your table with others. It really doesn't worry me as it is the norm in Asian countries to squeeze in as many patrons as possible. We were fortunate to be seated under an outdoor heater which made it nice and cosy.
I love the menu with accompanying photos and excellent descriptions of each dish. On the tables are pots of tea to help yourself as well as chopsticks and forks n spoons and of course the boxes of tissues.
We started with Pork & Prawn Rice Paper Rolls, and shared a Bun Bo Hue (Spicy Beef & Pork Vermicelli Soup) as well as Salt & Pepper Tofu with rice.
The Bun Bo Hue came out first with a dish of oak lettuce, Shredded Cabbage, mint leaves and a wedge of lemon. Mixing the greenery in the soup made this dish absolutely huge for $12. The rice paper rolls came out shortly after and were nice and light and refreshing. Sauces and chilli are in bottles and jars on the tables to help yourself. The Salt & Pepper Tofu seemed to have been forgotten and they profusely apologised. We were so full after the Bun Bo Hue that we asked if the Tofu could be put in a container for us to take home. They were more than happy to accommodate us.
Even with this small hiccup we thoroughly enjoyed our meal. Service is fast and swift, but this restaurant was absolutely pumping and as well as catering to an ever endingflow of take away meals as well.
We will definitely be back if just for take away before we leave for China.
Note: The "Bon App" is the Chinese equivalent to Zomato. So download the App and see my posts on the restaurants in Shanghai and other towns and cities I explore over the next 2 years. Also Bonapp has expanded to Australia too, so add your reviews there too.
YUMS! No frills, typical vietnamese restaurant - tables aligned, tea ready - they now use paper cups which are disposable (-1 for not being enviro friendly).
Service as you'd expect - fast, not rude, courteous and nothing more. Menu is extensive and they can make small changes like changing the noodle type etc. Big signs saying 'no gluten free' which amused us greatly. Well duh, what asian noodle soup place is going to be gluten free?! Let's leave it at that. Clearly they get enough customers asking for it to have a sign.
Anyway, got the spring rolls which came out piping hot and delicious. Bun bo hue with pho noodles which was massive. Like it will stuff your face and then some. And also the combination rice which pork chop and fried egg that comes with broken rice. Had food envy with the table across from us who got the fried chicken. Looked so good.
Quick service , reasonable food price , delicious food , free hot tea .
My favourite is their combination egg noodle , vercimelli salad with crispy skin chicken, and chicken pho ! . I am their satisfied loyal customer for 6 years ! Good job song huong
Last week was a cold weekend. Saturday started off with a bit of drizzle, so after the usual errands we decided to try a good Pho place not far from Hurstville and google said the nearest is Song Huong in Riverwood. Then off we go. The restaurant was not hard to locate as it is in the center of the business area of Riverwood. Parking is available around the corner.
We arrived around 1:30 pm and the place is bustling. Luckily, there were still available tables. We were seated in the middle aisle. It is just a small shop but can seat more than 50 people. The menu is easy to browse as there are pictures, labels, prices and description. We ordered the Beef and Beef Ball Rice noodle soup and Salt and Pepper Pork Chop.
It was a bit of a wait, maybe because there were so many customers that time. When our orders came, I was pretty happy because the service size is huge. The bub enjoyed the soup very much. It was a good comforting soup. Savory with a hint of sweetness. Yum yum. Perfect for the rainy weather. The Salt and Pepper pork chop was good but nothing memorable.
Total cost of our lunch was $26. Didn't have any leftovers. Yes, even if the serving size were as big as our faces, we were THAT hungry. :)
This is one of my favourite Vietnamese Pho restaurant that I have encountered so far. I have always come here because I am in love with their Pho.
Customer service was good for me every time I go there and have not experienced any negative yet.
The food is worth the price, as you get large portions.
Price is decent enough.
Always seeing a crowd outside of the restaurants during lunch till dinner time. The bigger the group size, the more you would have to wait for your turn until there is enough space or otherwise, the group would need to be cut down. The ambience is quiet small and with a lot of customers everyday means that it can be packed till there is not space to sit and will bring stools if not enough.
Pho dish consists with sweet broth, lots of noodles and meat, comes with those leafy greens and bean sprout.
If you order a rice or dry noodle dish, you get the sweet chilli sauce and a bowl of soup.
What I have tried, cost and ratings:
- Special beef nice noodle soup $13 (5 stars)
- Raw beef noodle soup $11 (5 stars) (I always get this)
- Crispy skin chicken with rice $11 (4.5 stars)
- Lychee drink $4 (3 stars because it is nice but way too sweet)
- Cendol sweet drink $5 (3.5 stars)
At the end I would definitely recommend this restaurant. These are my own opinions and ratings on food.
Nice tasting pho for a very reasonable price. One bowl has a generous serving of noodles and meat which always leaves me satisfied. Delicious fragrant broth perfect for a cold night. The only downside is the service can be a hit or miss.
I frequently visit this place for Viet food in the south. Food here tastes great, and come in large portions to give you a very satisfying meal. It is quite busy here during peak hours, however the turnover is relatively fast as service is fast even when it's busy. Love the durian shake here. With great business, they are slowly increasing the pricing, however with it's established customer base and consistent good food, I'll continue to return over lower quality Viet food of similar price any day.
I went here on a Monday night with my partner and there were quite a few customers. I have been here before on a Friday night and it was so packed, people had to wait outside. When we got inside, my friend and I had to share a table with randoms.
I would say Song Huong has very affordable Vietnamese dishes with large portions!
The Spring rolls (8 pieces for $10) were pretty good, with pork meat inside, seasoned well and came with a dipping sauce, carrot and lettuce. In comparison to spring rolls I've had in other places, these were worth the money!
The Pho Dac Biet ($13) only came in one size and had a generous amount of meat and alot of noodles! I thought the broth was good.
Service was fast and the waiter was nice. Would come back again :)
Fav Viet place! :) Pho plus wraps that you can do by yourself. Lots of variety with spicy noodles and broken rice with pork chop. I highly recommend the pork chop wraps and spicy noodles. Not too expensive too. Would come back!
Portion size is extremely large and pricing wise, it is the cheapest Vietnamese restaurant in the area. Although the interior of the restaurant is not the cleanest, the restaurant is always packed. Food is alright, not everything is a hit but you can't complain when it is so cheap for what seems like American sized portions. Definitely cannot finish of the noodle soups on my own. I recently tried ordering takeaway, service was not the best but overall I'd say its a solid Viet spot for the area. Sometimes the vegetables and lettuce accompanying the food don't taste super fresh (have had some bitter/dirty lettuce) but overall the food is good.

I love pho and I love this place... the staff are the same each time which is nice. It's clean and they're respectful when you refuse to share a table with randoms. We're not a fan of sharing tables with randoms.
I wast once possible to find a decent pho for $10 (or under) around Sydney. These days, places where you can find this Vietnamese staple for a tenner are few and far between. Lucky for us, there is still Song Huong out towards the West striving to push our hard earned $10 to the max. On the main strip of Riverwood, a short stroll from the train station is where Song Huong is located. Decor is minimalist but fairly well kept but the vibe is always buzzing with people chowing down on a variety of Vietnamese dishes at lunch and dinner times.
Always great for a quick bite to eat. I never stray from their raw beef noodle soup because when I did, bad things happened. I love their soup base and they give a huge portion for $10! Who I presumed to be the owner is a very lovely man who cares about his customers. The other employees are usually friendly as well though sometimes they have a bit of trouble understanding English. The place is always packed but the wait never takes too long.
A great cheap outing! Surely the service isn't top notch as you would expect, but for the price, quantity and overall experience, who can complain!
Definitely a great quick outing and I would recommended takeways! They pack it so skillfully!
For food, give the Bun Bo Hue a go! As well as the Pho. Complemented with an avocado shake is a must!
Dined here a few times now. A great local gem serving flavoursome Pho.
The spring rolls are worth a try and they also have a great variety of Asian fruit drinks.
Pricing is very good value for money.
First time here. Despite arriving here early (5.30 pm) this place is already packed.
Ordered their Bun Dac Biet, Bun Mang Vit and the pork chop. Also tried their sour sop and the avo durian smoothie.
Bun dac Biet is the clear winner today. Everything except the spring roll is outstanding. As a bonus it came in huge portion as well. The Bun Mang Vit is the close second. The sauce is very fresh and delicious. Too bad the duck is s bit dry. Pork chop is okay but have tried better one elsewhere.
Both smoothies are impressive. Service is understandably just standard as the place is always full.
Bottom line : Great food. Average service. Very good value.
If you are fine with no "real" service or atmosphere, and just looking for a place for a quick lunch or dinner this is a great option. It is fairly cheap if you are going for just pho or any of the other dishes that are for "one person" which will probably set you back $10-13. Serving sizes are extremely generous. Add on a drink (my recommendation is their durian shake provided that you are fine with durian), it will set you back a further $6. As a family we come here quite often, we usually share three noodle soups amongst three adult females and one adult male. (Note: The females are small eaters). It is usually quite packed but waiting time is quite short as food comes out pretty quickly.
Been here a few times now. Fresh and sooooo cheap. Delicious generous soups and rice paper rolls. Love this place for a quick cheap feed. Must go.
Authentic and fresh tasty Vietnamese restaurant. The portion sizes are always huge and definitely value for money. We keep coming back here and always leave with our bellies full and cravings satisfied.
Special Beef Pho; Bun Bo Hue.
Enjoyed a Special vermicelli so it had crab on suger cane, standard grilled marinated pork, spring roll etc very nice..look forward to trying more.
Parking was easy about 2m walk away.
Inside or outside dining so good for wheelchair.
Had dinner here the other night and the pho was good. Flavours were good, there is definitely some MSG in the broth. Portion size here is quite big, ashame you cant chose the serving size as we couldn't finish a bowl each. Service was ok, not exactly friendly but not rude at the same time.
The best bun bo hue in Sydney! Cannot fault it. Consistent since I started visiting this restaurant when it opened years ago. The price has increased from $10 to $16 over the years but definitely still worth it!
Have come to this restaurant so many times (both lunch & dinner, take-out and dine-in). It is extremely good!
Raw Beef Noodle Soup (Pho) is iconic, have always ordered it from this restaurant. Aromatic, full of flavour, and generous serving size for the price! The stir-fried beef/chicken rice/egg noodle (you choice) is also one I really like. Definitely try these two!
Other dishes I have tried from here are the Soft-Shelled Crab , Salt & Pepper Squid, Grilled Pork, Fried Rice, Special Spicy Beef Vermicelli Soup with Pork, Rice Paper Rolls with Pork and Prawns. All these are solid options as well. Every time I have had a dish not cooked properly/had a problem, we have had a full replacement or refund!
Service is normally quite good, although the restaurant gets extremely packed and busy at peak times, so may become a little slow. The restaurant's seating is also quite cramped. However, the wonderful dishes and prices make up for this!
