A popular restaurant at Robe, the Sails offers good food at reasonable prices. A fresh decor and a relaxed setting, the atmosphere is perfect for the beachside surround. The seafood platter was delicious, and we were able to change the oysters to Kilpatrick. Attentive wait staff, it’s a great spot for dinner.

In a word, wow. What a stunning restaurant Sails is. On a trip to Robe over the busy Australia Day weekend earlier this year, my partner and I managed to secure a reservation on our final night in town, after the venue was set aside for a wedding/closed the previous evenings. The evening was definitely one to remember. We were seated outside, and on a warm summer's night, it was so nice to relax into some chill time with a cool drink and the buzzy atmosphere of the lively pub across the road half drifting over. There's a great selection of local wines, beautiful seafood, and desserts to die for! The bbq scallops, eggplant & zucchini entree, and fig frangipani sweet treat were standout dishes. Also noteworthy is the service - the wait staff are personable, helpful and graceful. It takes a lot to etch a perfect experience into someone's memory, and for me, they've done it. Call it crazy, but if I relocate from Adelaide later this year, I may consider driving down the coast from Adelaide for a night just to enjoy an evening there again (restrictions permitting ofc!). Do yourself a massive favour and book in if you're ever in Robe.
We have just had a SUPERB meal here. The yellowtail sashimi as entree was very fine. A generous serve (we shared) of delicious fish on a bed of pickled seaweed with a sesame dressing and wasabi and soy on the side. For mains we chose the ‘whole fish’ and the ‘wagyu rump’ both amazing. The fish, locally grown barramundi, deep fried in the lightest of light batters and served in Asian style with chilies, spring onion, etc - ticked the box. The wagyu rump cooked to MR perfectly, with a confit of garlic, on a small bed of kale & silverbeet, complimented with roasted brussels and a naughty creamed potato dish on the side. Extensive wine list. Rosie was a delightful host passionate about what Sails has set out to achieve. Congratulations on what you have done so far and good luck for the future!
4.5/5 - w o w. Our last night in Robe and we were truly impressed with Sails. We booked in last minute and were catered for by Rosie and the team. Super friendly and knowledgeable service, refreshing cocktails and beautiful food. The restaurant filled up quickly and for good reason. Garlic sourdough bread and chorizo with feta for starters. I don't know how you can make bread so fantastic but Sails did it. Beef wagyu spring rolls for entree - light, not too rich, sweet yet sour soy sauce. Great balance. Mains... (drum roll) spice rubbed wagyu fillet for me (with a jus) and the beef ragout papadelle for the other half. Could not fault a single thing. Enjoyed every bite thoroughly, and the sides of salad (good to break up all the meat) and the onion rings just completed it. Check out those rings - truly a meal on their own! We cried a little on the inside when we simply could not finish them.
Robe, be proud because Sails is at the top of your podium. Would recommend to anyone!
Was in Robe for a wedding and was recommended to try the lobster -the signature dish of Robe. I pre ordered the lobster and when we arrived at Sails we were seated quickly. Service was super friendly and attentive. In addition to the lobster, we also had 2 sides, a bottle of wine, the rib eye and a starter of half a dozen oyesters. The food was really fresh and cooked well. The lobster was a bit tough but overall enjoyable. The steak was cooked well according to my partner. At $250 it was an expensive meal but I'd do it again as I had to try the local delicacy!
Great friendly attentive staff serving really fresh seafood. Of the two crayfish we ate, the fresh tasted heavenly, the thermidor not quite as good. The seafood platter for two was also devine. Prices are on the expensive side, but the food, service, location and ambience were without fail.
The staff were incredibly friendly and conscientious, we began with dips and saganaki, additional bread followed quickly upon request, the kids meals (1x steak & 2 x fish and chips) were consumed with glee. My husband and I shared the seafood platter for two, it was delicious, incredibly fresh. Highly recommend for a Romantic dinner out (or with the family)
Excellent lunch with attentive service and quality seafood. Value for money in taste, presentation and quantity. Good place to hang out on a wintry day.
Hi! We ate here on a Wednesday night after finding it in the Main Street, we didn't have a booking but were accommodated. So glad we were because this meal was fantastic and the service was great.
I'm having problems finding constructive criticism but if anything we missed the lobster as it was sold out by 6.30pm!
Great ambience, warm and inviting.
We had clam chowder, mushroom strudel, crab soufflé to start, fish and chips both pan fried and battered and flake and King George whiting for mains and finished with a berry millefeuille, pannacotta, port and coffee's.
Outstanding and if in this town again we would visit without doubt, highly recommend.
We arrived slightly early (15 minutes) and was told the restaurant was not ready yet. We then walked around and when we finally got in, we got given the "hot seat" with not even an extra umbrella to shade.
A little disappointed by the service, we were subsequently impressed with the food and service by the rest of the crew.
We ordered the seafood platter (for 2), fish of the day (blue eye trevally), and the salt and pepper squid. We also had crunchy chips, dips and pita bread and lobster pie as sides/ entree.
The food was all so nicely made it threw us away immediately. The seafood platter had a nice mix of everything, the fish of the day pan grilled to perfection and the salt and pepper squid was also perfect. The dips were all very nice, truly handmade and the crunchy chips were one of the best I'd had ever!
We were so impressed with the meal that we pushed on for dessert, a good choice as their dessert were also delicious.
