Review Dim Sum Delights - Robina

As recommended by Taiwanese friend to go there. Good service, good presentation but not my cup of tea. Long time haven't seen the trolley lady, they have tried their best to promote various food. The deep fried breadstick over cooked so a little bit bitter. The over all are so so.

Food of good quality, fast and efficient service, a hidden gem in the local neighbourhood. Place is a little bit too small to see the “angry & loud trolley lady” experience 😂 but still a great alternative to enjoy an authentic yum cha experience. 2nd time visited the place as a walk-in no booking. Owner went over and above to give us a table despite being on a busy Saturday lunch time.

It looked busy and some staff doesn't seem to know what to do while others were friendly. Food was not fantastic. Prawn dumpling and siew mai's skin were really thick. Siew mai was really small too. Chicken feet and beef tendon tasted like satay. BBQ pork in rice noodle (zhu chang fen) - the pork was dry and hard and the rice noodle wrap was too sticky and lacks texture. Each dish was also quite costly - I personally don't think it's worth the cost.

Friendly service, great food and affordable! Everything that you would expect to have are here. Pretty busy during lunch time might be a good idea to make a booking first. The crispy bread wrapped with rice rolls are to die for!

Three of us went there for lunch on Sunday. We booked at 11:00am. There are already some big groups sitting 😳 We had 7 small dishes and 2 big dishes. They served quite quick 👍🏻 Their dim sum is homemade??? They are very nice 😊 We went to some Chinese restaurant for Yum cha. This place is the best reasonable price Yum cha so far😋 I recommend to make a booking when you go there😉

Always very busy on the weekends but consistently serves up authentic yum cha.

OK, so I ordered 1 soup but the staff here served two soups, and I said I didn't order this one, she said I did, OK, we took that one as well, but later they served Mapo Tofu which is not Mapo Tofu, as I'm Chinese I know what is Mapo Tofu, and they are too slow, we've waited for ages to get 3 dishes all served. Never come here again. Can you tell the picture below is Mapo Tofu?! Can't believe it.

Nothing exciting here.

It was put forward as dumplings du jour, but it’s precisely the same as every other suburban Chinese restaurant, oh, with a few dumplings.

The prawn dumplings are admittedly yum, but tiny. The sweet/sour prawns were weird. Battered prawns? Am I at the Easter Show eating Pluto pups? So too the chicken satays - insipid peanut sauce with strange fried/dusted sticks of bouncy chicken. A bit yuck actually.

Then salt/pepper tofu. Also weird. Reminded me of Little Britain’s “dust” scene at the fatfarm. Flavourless, zero textured nothings.

Siu Mai came from a bag of frozen commercially made bought globs of dead animal. Spongy textures. Not good.

Spring rolls (vegetarian) were ok.

A lot of negativity, certainly, but the staff try hard and there was a bit of atmosphere, as you’d hope with suburban Chinese.

Would I travel there especially? Good lord no. Was it terrible? No. Was there anything remarkable? No. Flatline average.

We were looking for another yum cha place as we're live or yum cha and came across this place. It's a small place an seems to be no frills family run. But don't let the no frills fool you. The food was awesome. Great yum cha and the staffare very friendly and accommodating. Excellent food. We will be back.

Absolutely amazing, friends and family love this place! Food is delicious and the cute little lanterns are a nice touch! Do yourself a favor and try this place :)

Go to yumcha on the GC , forget Yumcha the chain and come right here for a good variety of hk style yum cha. Crack open a cold tsingtao or fresh pot of jasmine tea and treat yourself to some classics like pork buns, sui mei, shanghai dumplings and chicken feet. What a place and great value about 40-50$ for two to get stuffed

Good food and friendly and accomodating service! Sitting outdoors for yumcha was a first! Their BBQ pork bun is just AMAAAAZING!! Their vege was a little overcooked but other than that, good good place for you to visit!

Had a few dim sums, fried rice and seasonal beans with a gf.

The dim sums were no different from those frozen packs we bought from groceries. Fried rice was nothing special we had better ones at other yum cha places around. What's worse, my gf and I BOTH had diarrhoea a few hours after the meal. Think they probably didn't defrost their food properly, and the lack of air-con when it's 34 degrees out there definitely has a part.

Absolutely not coming back nor recommending.

A range of HK dim sums. But after many years they haven't expanded/experimented with other Hong Kong cuisines. Needs a wider menu selection...

High quality fresh food. Super tasty and the prices are very reasonable. Nice friendly service as well. Don't know why people only go for yum Cha for lunch on the coast yum Cha means morning tea. No body in this restaurant early. Go..it's epic.

We have been here twice for yum cha. We are fr sydney so we hav high expectations when it come to our Yum Cha.Not as many varieties offering like big Chinese in Sydney but they do have most "popular" yum cha dishes. Their egg custard was very nice too.a must try. So it was a delight to find this decent place. Reasonable price, friendly staff.

Amazing service. Great authentic yum Cha . It's so nice to have hot dumplings, that haven't been sitting on a trolley for 15 minutes. Kitchen to table. Staff go out of their way to explain dishes and help. Wish I was a local.

Has gone downhill over the last 6 months , food now bland service is ok if you want what they bring out. Orders for specific items are forgotten. Won't be going back in a hurry.

Great!. *Please see edit at end of review.

We had dinner here last night and while not extraordinary, it was nice. We ordered veggie spring rolls, prawn and coriander dumplings, turnip cakes, vegetable and shrimp Singapore noodles, salt and pepper tofu and we shared a serving of banana pancakes with chocolate sauce and ice cream.

The spring rolls, of which there were four, were very good, just like the old style ones from years ago. A good size, piping hot - as was everything - and not oily. The three dumplings were great, and the one thing we'd be tempted to go back for. The turnip cakes (3) kind of grew on me. They were a decent size and rather gluggy, which I'm sure is how they're meant be. The tofu was nice and tender and there was plenty of it, but it didn't have a lot of flavour and we prefer it when the garlic and chilli is crisped. The Singapore noodles were nice, but not spicy enough for me. They tasted better with the addition of chilli sauce and soy. The pancakes (2) were different to anything we'd had before. Thick and quite large, chilled, folded rectangles that appeared doughy, but didn't really taste it.

The restaurant is medium sized, with indoor and outdoor seating and typical Chinese decor. It was reasonably busy when we were there, with some of the diners being Chinese. Service was very efficient and friendly enough, though the head waitress looked as if she had the weight of the world on her shoulders.

The bill came to $56, including the BYO charge. While I like it more than I don't like it, we probably won't go again and I haven't given it a thumbs up.

*Edit 9/12/2013 - Changed Title from Nice to Great and have added a thumbs up.

I went back here with another friend as we were in the area, hungry, and it was nearing 9pm. Our meals were nice, but again nothing extraordinary. As it turned out, the same friend and I went there a second time last month, and I'm so glad we did. I've been going once a week, and the food has been great.

Love the prawn and scallop dumplings, prawn and coriander strips, prawn dumplings and deep fried prawn dumplings. Wouldn't recommend the veggie Chow Mein (wanted to try it for old time's sake) and the veggie curry puffs were nice, but nothing special. Singapore noodles have been delicious every time since the first, veggie fried rice is very good, as is the meatless Ma Po Tofu. Can't remember what else we've eaten, but now recommend the place.

We had breakfast at the Lott next door yesterday (review up) and Dim Sum Delight was absolutely chock-a-block, mainly with Chinese customers. It wasn't as busy when we went last night, but again the clientele was mainly Asian.

We've had a few desserts including deep fried ice cream with chocolate sauce, red bean balls in sesame seeds and mango or the aforementioned banana pancakes, which have been far better than the first time when I am guessing they must have been served straight from the freezer.

Okay. The food was nothing too special. Although it was quiet when we arrived 11am, the waiters were attentive and quick in service. Looking for a meal about $90 for 4 adults (includes drinks). In all, there wasn't anything special about the restaurant. Ordinary food and if spicy you don't really know until it's ordered like the Singapore noodles. No thanks or special greeting as we arrived and left.

Great place for yum cha and a la carte Chinese. Consistent each time I have been there. No MSG added.

Best yum cha on the coast. Great food, excellent service, reasonable prices. this is easily the best chines restaurant on the coast. although it can get very busy the staff are always willing to accommodate everyone. food is authentic, fresh and delicious. a local favourite because locals know that no other chinese restaurants on the coast can compare with this in quality and authenticity. it can be hard finding decent restaurants in gold coast but this one is definitely one of them

So tastey! Just came down for late dinner, love the deep fried wontons and the pork dumplings. I want to come back and try some more yum cha stuff because it's just so gooood. The bright red sauce that comes with the dumplings is a bit weird though. But maybe that's for me.
Laura
Very nice meal and quite busy for a Tuesday. Chow mein and Chinese veggies were excellent.

BEST YUM CHA ON THE GC. Delicious! I was a big beliver that Mandarin Court at Mermaid Waters was the best Yum Cha now i am convinced it is overpriced and lacks flavour after going here. You will not get better food ANYWHERE!! i agree with other comments however that ti does get very busy between 12pm - 2pm daily so probably best to get there at 11am.

Dim sum. Not bad dim sum for the GC. Quite authentic in flavour and freshly prepared.

Delightful. Absolutley the best Yum Cha I've had anywhere in Australia. Blackbean mussels are to die for. So nice to see freshly made dumplings for a change, Prawn and Chive, Shanghai Pork are stand outs. Salt and Pepper Calamari also excellent.

Local, friendly, high quality yet still low priced chinese food. What's not to like?. I definitely would recommend going to try the range of freshly made dim sums at dim sum delights if your in the Robina area or just visiting around those parts. The food is just fantastic, you can really tell when something has been freshly made and steamed, the prawn dumplings are TO DIE FOR. I would even go on a limb and called myself a chinese food fanatic and can confidently say that their dim sums are some of the best from around the world. Recent trips to Hong Kong have proven that you dont need to spend thousands on air fairs to get tasty authentic chinese food. I can tell why it is so busy on the weekends. The staff work hard, the food is great and it's local businesses like these that should have our full support.

Happy to have found this spot. Good quality, delicious, affordable and the staff offer good service and friendly too.

I would recommend going during the non-peak hours as service does become a bit sloppy particularly if you are seated outside. The food is exceptional otherwise.

Terrible, terrible restaurant. The crab meat dumpling contained crab sticks from woolies in place of actual crab meat (thankfully the prawn dumpling etc had actual prawn), the staff ignored our requests for sauce (had to ask 3+ times to get chilli and soy sauce), and they took the chairs from our table without even asking (just took them from the table and went on their merry way....

Just save yourself the trouble and go to other yam cha restaurants on the Gold Coast

Food was exceptional. Ambience was good. Service and attention was taken in detail. My best experience was of my waitor Henry, from the time I arrived till the time I left I was impressed with his knowledge and keen eye to look after me. He gives this place a warm welcomed feeling and is a valued asset to the restaurant. Will come again.

We had Black Bean Eggplant Stuffed with Fish Meat, BBQ Pork Pastries and Prawn and Vegetable Dumplings. Stir-fried Capsicum stuffed with Fish Meat. Steamed Chicken Glutinous Rice, Steamed BBQ Pork Buns and Pork Wrapped in Bean Curd. And finally, some Crispy Dough Sticks Wrapped in Rice Noodles and Fried Whiting. There was a good varied selection of Dim Sum to choose from as well as order. The only difference with this Yum Cha is that the absence of food carts, which is barely a loss, considering the freshness and quality of the dishes. Staff were also very accommodating. Tucked away from the busy coastal precincts in a suburban shopping centre, this is the newest yum cha restaurant on the coast, opening early in 2011, but already it's busy. It's always a good sign to see a majority of Asian faces in a yum cha restaurant, which is the case here. The yum cha is standard fare, however the service and venue are not. It's smallish in size yet airy, with large timber-framed glass bifold doors opening onto verandahs overlooking a quiet street. Dim sum choices are brought out in bamboo baskets on trays; specialties such as soft shell crab, tender rice noodles or barbeque pork appear on sparkling square white plates, a refinement on the cumbersome steam carts prevalent in larger restaurants. Extra dishes may also be ordered from the menu. Table service is relaxed and courteous, with dirty dishes whisked away to the kitchen out of sight. Wait staff ask to refill your teapot; all in all it's a welcome change to

My disappointments were the braised pork ribs and the “chee cheong fun” (猪肠粉). While they serve the traditional Cantonese “chee cheong fun” (猪肠粉) version, the rice noodles were too thick and sticky. The braised pork ribs on the other hand, had the unfortunate pleasure of having followed by the fried pork ribs, which were much more flavourful.
