This restaurant is clean and tidy, with friendly staff. We ordered the oysters and they were raw, fresh and yummy. We couldn’t get enough.
This venue is one of the quintessential Sydney lunchtime dining experiences. We had gorgeous food on the day, my fave was the lamb which some people may say was too rare but I like lamb on the rarer side so perfect for me.
Little criticism on service: a couple of girls were pregnant and so not drinking from our obnoxiously large bottles of wine (which were poured regularly) and ordering mocktails instead. Both girls had to ask for their drinks multiple times which is not quite the level of service you expect when paying $250+ a head. When alerted at the end of our meal, the manager offered each lady an additional mocktail on the house.
An excellent experience had here. Located on Rose Bay, this restaurant affords excellent views of the water. Although the prices are higher this is balanced out by the chef hatted food, wonderful service, and fantastic views. We had booked in for the later sitting for lunch (there are sittings at 12pm, 1230pm, and 230pm). All the tables were basically full when we arrived and wasn’t surprised our request for a balcony table wasn’t available as mostly larger groups sat out there.
Our drink orders were taken and we both went with mocktails. My friend had the Orange Blossom and I had the Home Made Seasonal Lemonade (which had passionfruit puree). Both were lovely and refreshing for a hot day like we had.
My friend wasn’t feeling the best so only had a main course. I begun with the Pan Roasted Quail. Dainty pieces of quail were sat upon celeriac puree, rainbow chard, peaches, and hazelnuts. A beautiful combination of flavours and textures. I loved how the chard had some sharp acidity to balance out the fattiness of the quail.
For mains I had the Black Onyx Beef Tenderloin. A very cooked piece of beef which was generous in portion. Alongside it sat a piece of fried polenta, onion, parmesan aioli, and chimichurri. I loved how it was cooked and the tenderness of it. The accompaniments were fantastic too. My friend said her Roasted Cowra Lamb Rack was succulent and especially loved the eggplant caponata that came with it.
I then finished off with Passionfruit Curd Meringue Tart. It was a tart filled with passionfruit curd and mango and topped with meringue and gold leaf. It was served with lychees and passionfruit ice cream. It was light enough to end the meal with but also indulgent at the same time.
It was a very pleasant meal and would suggest to try here.
Fancy restaurant with good food. Definitely expensive but you’re paying for the location with great views. A place to go for special events.
Loved the risotto dish and the cocktails especially the espresso martini. Great spot over looking the water. Always a great dining experience
I came here with my bf over the weekends and everything we ordered was delicious. I LOVE THE OYSTERS HERE! The service was amazing and our waiter had some cheeky banter with us. All in all, it was a fun experience, I'd come here again.
Catalina has been on my go to list for over a year. I was thrilled to finally have tried it. The service was faultless. Portions were extremely generous. Oysters & The Barramundi was the stand out for me. I would definitely recommend a visit here.
One of the top three most beautiful restaurants to dine at in Sydney . With the food always being consistently satisfying without ever reaching those culinary high notes . It’s more about the view and the vibe but the food doesn’t hurt . Service is excellent .
I’ve dined here on two separate occasions and have had a pleasant experience each time!
Personally, I‘m never in love with the entrees - they’re ok, but not worth their price. However, mains and dessert are always delicious.
In particular the caramelised fig, butter caramel mousse, brik pastry and pistachio praline for dessert!! Easily my favourite dish on this occasion.
Service is great and views are amazing (best to come for lunch). It’s also worth it if you have the birthday club voucher where you essentially receive $100 off your total bill.
Service and food exceeded expectations. The view, atmosphere, ambience was the best thing about this restaurant, our table was a 2-seater facing the bay on the balcony. It was about $290 for 3 entrees, 1 main, taster $75 dessert platter, 1 drink and 1 alcoholic drink. The oysters and scallop were my favourites. The salmon brioche entree was also amazing, the salmon melts flavour on your tongue. We had the squid ink pasta as a main but I would not get it again.
Exceptional service, atmosphere, presentation and taste. Ordered the tenderloin cooked well done and was still tender and juicy, cooked perfectly to preference. Highlight was the mango panna cotta must order! 10/10.
Great food! The moreton bay bugs was really nice with the caviar and oyster, the ambience was great, we had the sunset there and took a photo with a pelican.
Catalina is a modern Australian fine dining restaurant situated in Rose Bay with a great view. The food was innovative and they also have nice cocktails.
Wowwww, I was not expecting the food here to be that great but I was definitely pleasantly surprised. I ordered the scallops for entree, which were perfectly cooked and the sauce underneath was honestly great. For main, I ordered the toothfish with shiitake mushroom dumpings in a dashi broth. Oh my - a dish that is very well thought out, with all the flavours/ingredients complementing each other perfectly. Everyone on the table had food envy for my dish (just quietly). Unfortunately, I had no room for dessert today, but the menu had soo many great options, so I will definitely be back soon to try them out! The wait staff were great - very friendly, accommodating and speedy. A fantastic lunch!
This restaurant was a ray of sunshine, surrounded by the bay. Friendly service and accommodating as we wanted to share all the dishes so they portion it on two separate dishes. Seafood was fresh and tasty. We have the mushroom pasta, a special of the day which was lacking of seasoning and taste, but overall everything was delicious and would definitely dine here again.
Catalina never disappoints it is a classic and favourite that I will be going back to time and time again. I used a birthday voucher here a few weeks ago and the food as always was amazing cooked perfectly I could not fault anything, the service as well is friendly and attentive. Just what you want on a date night or special occasion.
Honestly, one of the places with the best service. I came here for the birthday club where they fave me up to $100 off my meal. It was a wonderful experience and the extra mile staff took to prepare my dessert topped it off.
I was extremely suprised at the taste of the seafood pasta. The salt definitely penetrated the pasta and each mouthful was like heaven. It is a must get if you go to Catalina.
The salmon looks and sounds like a plain dish but the meat was so soft and tender. I can see why it is also a popular dish amongst the ladies.
The braised lamb was also perfectly cooked. It was really filling. A nice glass of wine would have definitely complimented the meal. I could only finish 1/2 of the meal. I didnt like the peas though. They didnt seem cooked and were very hard. The mash on the side was really creamy.
Dessert was delicious. The belgium chocolate was really rich and came with a side of icecream. It is a must get dor chocolate lovers. But for those that love a zesty touch to their meal, Id recommend the lemon tart with a large dollop of cream on the side to neutralise the sourness and add an extra hint of sweetness.
Id definitely come back for more and I’d probably order the pasta next time.
With a lovely waterfront view and caring staff, this place is a must try!
The frosé here is very refreshing and quite strong - worth a try!
Standouts were definitely the freshly shucked oysters and the seafood antipasto to start.
The glacier toothfish main was a bit bland for my liking but the pan fried tenderloin was nicely seasoned.
Always a pleasure at Catalina! Fantastic food paired with top notch service. We have been coming here for years & it just keeps getting better. You won’t find any negatives here!
Food is beautifully presented, service is friendly and attentive. There are ocean views and outdoor dining. What more could you ask for?
Highly recommend for everyone! The food is just superb. Everything else is a bonus!
Finally we had the time to visit Catalina for dinner recently, and we absolutely loved it. Catalina over looks the beautiful water in Rose Bay providing a spectacular view, with impeccable service and delicious food. We ordered off the daily menu for 12th January which featured the bouillabaisse (with spanner crab, tempura scampi, red spot whiting), pan fried snapper, housemade tagliatelle, beef bourguignon and natural fresh oysters. The servings were very reasonable, and each dish was packed full of flavour. We were not disappointed and walked out feeling very full and happy. We would definitely return again to try everything else on the menu!
Amazing location and atmosphere..though the food is not equally wow! Tried only the fish-based dishes, but unfortunately lots of butter and just a few fresh strong tastes. Stuff was ok too.
Had been wanting to come here for the longest time and finally made it through a work Christmas lunch! The restaurant is very open and white and when you walk outside, the nice breeze comes through while you look out over the water. Very pleasant!
They also have a separate vegan menu which you can ask for. I went with the pickled beetroot for entree which was super fresh and light, mushroom dumplings for main which was SO DELICIOUS but way too small to be a main, and finished with coconut jelly for dessert. Loved dessert even though I'm not a fan of sweet things ever.
All in all would be amazing if they add more dishes to the vegan menu, and I would love to go back because the vibe is great!
Great cocktails and espresso martini's. We only had drinks on the balcony. The view is really superb. Rosebay has a delightful feel about it. the resturant looks very swish and expensive-probably go there for a special occasion.
Catalina's service was impeccable. Food presentation was pleasing to the eye, however I didn't enjoy it as much as I thought I would. I've had better oysters and pork belly. I guess if we didn't have a birthday voucher for this place I wouldn't have been very happy to pay for what we received. Nonetheless, do get the tuna and watermelon dish aswell as a frosé!
Beautiful location with a breathtaking view. Attentive staff with huge choice on the menu. Cocktails are extensive and the food is really nice, the creamy
Absuloutely stunning place for a meal. Unfortunately weather was crap but I imagine a day sitting outside would be magic. Service was a bit slow to start with getting a drink and then again at the end trying to order desert and drinks, having to ask twice to take the order... massively busy and they had crammed the tables in which wasn't pleasant when you are paying top dollar. In saying this though it was a great experience, the food was exceptional. I had the marron tail then the beef tenderloins followed by the banana split desert... all were superb. Great place for a long lunch. Jaffa Desert cocktail at the end didn't taste like Jaffa just straight alcohol.
Oysters with lime, chilli and tobiko
Oysters tempura with ponzu and sesame
(...delicious, but 1/6 of the lime, chilli and tobiko dressing would have sufficed for each oyster, to allow more of the oyster's natural flavour through. Similarly, while not heavy by any means, an even lighter, thinner and more transparent tempura batter - which coats only part of the oyster, leaving part of the oyster natural and uncooked - may have allowed the oysters to shine through some more...)
Pan seared sea scallops, salmon roe, cauliflower puree, silverbeet, bottarga, crumbed chilli
(...perfectly cooked scallops with a deliciously browned crust, with lots of contrasting textures on the plate, especially the crunchy deep-fried bottarga and chilli which was a revelation with the silverbeet...)
Orange, strawberry, cranberry
(...so fruity and sweet, complemented the pork perfectly...)
Roasted suckling pig, apple and pear chutney, rosemary jus
(...very generous portion size - the little piglet is only 3 to 5 weeks old, this looked like an oversized chicken maryland except you've never seen such crisp and crunchy crackling on a chicken dish before! Eat the pork crackling with the chutney and you've made yourself some kind of wow wow whoa apple pie! The flavours on this dish are familiar but the execution was skillful and flawless...)
Chocolate mousse with raspberry sorbet, caramelized fig and pistachio praline
(...like a solid slab of thick chocolate ganache, the sweet gooeyness contrasted well with the bite and chill factor from the raspberry sorbet, the crunchy praline, and the slightly bitter and burnt caramel coating the refreshingly fragrant fig...)
Chamomile tea
There aren't many things that beat a beautiful Sydney summer, and what better way to enjoy a lazy weekend than catching the ferry to have a long lunch with my mum. Catalina at Rose Bay is a great choice, moments away from the city by ferry, with the restaurant itself right by the wharf. It's a great spot to also watch the sea planes take off.
First date arriving Sydney, we straight forward the well-known Rose Bay pearl "Catalina". It is first time for us visit Rose Bay, of course same to Catalina.
Long story short, we ordered Scallop with Cauliflower Soup as entree, Seafood Speggattii, A steak, and a bowl of chips.
Service: 4.5/5 ( There is a very restrict dressing code, make sure your visit need to match its similar requirement. On the date we visit, we wear pretty casual)
Scallop Entree: 4.5/5
Seafood Speggatti: 5/5
Steak: 3.5 ( beautiful plate set up, tender steak, but potato on side is too firm, sauce under steak tastes weird... at least I don't enjoy that creative idea on Sause)
Chips: 5/5 TOO Good
Price: 4/5 ( $140 for all of that... a bit over price... but price for view is still worth about)
Overall: 4.2/5

A solid restaurant serving up contemporary, Mediterranean-influenced seafood to the well-heeled Eastern Suburbs crowd and the gawking plebs like us.
Loved the beautifully fresh marron for my entree, smartly paired with wafer thin slices of rockmelon and prosciutto, and lovely dabs of aioli that brought everything together. My barramundi main with clams and lemon thyme veloute was classic, fragrant and the fish expertly cooked.
Our brussels sprouts side sauteed with honey was sprinkled cumin seeds, which in our opinion tasted somewhat jarring. After a passing comment about this to the waitress when asked how we were enjoying the food, she insisted she was more than happy to send out another without cumin to replace it. We really appreciated this gesture and it demonstrates what a professional operation this place is, where the focus is firmly on diner enjoyment.
Now a word about the olive oil mash. That stuff will be living in my spud dreams for some time. Luxuriously smooth, perfectly seasoned, and decadently enrichened with lashings of excellent olive oil, I couldn't stop spooning piles of it into my mouth like ice cream. Trust me: Order it, thank me later.
Our only complaint would be the restaurant gets seriously noisy, probably in part because there seem to be too many tables crammed into the indoor space. It feels just a tad too squishy.
A great lunch and a highly recommended restaurant.
I cannot contain how impressed I am with this restaurant.
We booked for 6:30pm on a Saturday night. After walking through the door we were warmly greeted and promptly seated. The menus were provided and specials of the day were explained in detail.
Not long after putting in our order, some complimentary bread was served and soon after our cocktails.
Our entre seafood antipasto for two, had a nice selection for tasting. Each item was distinct and flavorful. The highlights on that platter were the salmon mousse, prawns, scollap and fish taco.
The salmon mousse topped on a cracker was a nice little bite, a little bit salty but not over powering. The texture was smooth and creamy and complimented the crunch of the biscuit.
I really liked the crunch to the prawns, the softness of the fish in the fish taco, and the freshness of the scollap ceviche. The others items didn't lack flavour but just didn't stand out to me as much as the others. Overall the portion and amount for $72 is pretty decent.
Next came the mains, snapper with potatoe mash and Mortan bay bugs pasta. Out of the two, the snapper was definitely the stand out. Nicely pan seared, soft, and perfectly cooked. Loved the potatoe mash. Didn't realise how much I have missed a good potatoe mash.
The pasta was ok, would have been nicer if there was a bit more sauce to it. Had to add salt and pepper for extra taste. We were surprised how big the bowl of chips were. For $10, we barley made a dent.
By dessert time my partner was too full to order anything besides some tea, so I was only able to try one dessert :(
I chose the young ginger crème brulee with wildflower honeycomb ice-cream. I wish there was more ice-cream. It was fragrant, sweet but not sickly. There was a nice crisp sugar top on the brulee and a soft gingerbread base. Thoroughly enjoyed it pretty much all to myself.
There is such a distinction between this restaurant and those others (flying fish restaurant and bar) that claim to be fine dining or just price themselves unecessarily in that category but don't actually deliver. I cannot emphasize greater on how much I enjoyed my night, the waiters were warm, professional with a touch of humour and efficient. It was a busy Saturday night but we were able to enjoy our meal comfortably, in a timely manner and left anticipating our next return.
We were able to use the entertainment book which gave us 25% off to a certain amount which was a score for us but even then this restaurant is definitely worth the future visits.
Thank you so much for such attentive, lovely service. I felt the meals came out a little too quick but that was my only "issue". The pork belly entree, smoked salmon entree, beef and Moreton Bay bugs Main were delicious but it was the two desserts that set the bar. The passionfruit cheesecake and pavlova, amazing!!!!! Thank you so much.
Beautiful ambience lovely views, mouth watering food, Great service,. Attentive waiters,. The menu should not been uppercase text. The bill was confusing with too many different subsections

This place is just exquisite. Gorgeous views with a lovely ambience and the most amazing food! I would definitely love to come back even just for that lemon curd, raspberry coulis pavlova!!! Delicious.
My favorite restaurant for special occasions !! The view and ambiance is so special. The food is amazing - very good quality and always delicious. Fish is always excellent as is the lobster pasta. The seafood antipasto platter is delicious as well. Whitebait with poached egg also recommended
I've heard that this place is very difficult to book a table, I was lucky enough to attend an event here. It was a wonderful night, we all had a fun night.
Food: very tasty. The salmon with soup which is not shown in the pic is surprisingly amazing! A taste you can never imagine on salmon. Highly recommend the salmon with soup! Pork belly is yummy too, but you might not wanna order pork belly here as this is always good in a decent restaurant. The fried fish and oysters in the pic were ok, similar standard as other decent restaurants'.
Dessert is yummy too! I was already so full after the main, wasn't very interested in the dessert. But the dessert here are so nice, not too sweet.
Price: above average. Around $50 for a main. We had a 3 courses dinner, it was like $150.
Environment: absolutely beautiful view.
Had an AMAZING dinner at Catalina. Yes, the food is not cheap but this is Sydney fine dining at its best with a spectacular view. We spent around $100 per guest for wine, entree + main. My guests (table of 6) from overseas were so impressed with the venue. The service was also top notch.
The entertainment gold card is accepted at this restaurant.
Overall - WOW, will be back!

Had AMAZING lunch in This Place.. the Place is really beautiful and the food really AMAZING.. the One That i order is wagyu beef steak WITh eggplant puree and their famous barramundi.. the skin is really crispy and the sauce is delicious.. their alaskan King crab ravioli So Creative and perfect match WITh the sauce
Spectacular view and excellent food!
Went there for lunch and the view was just amazing! Ordered the toothfish, cooked beautifully, soft and seasoned really well. The beef was also cooked beautifully.
Made a reservation 2 months in advance to celebrate a 2 year anniversary.
Unlike some of the others, I had superb service from my waiters/waitresses. It wasn't so busy so ordering of my dishes were quick, the food and drinks came reasonably fast. I cannot express how amazing and fresh the oysters were and their matching dressing was seriously the best. I couldn't help drinking it a bit.
The winning dish was definitely my main, the Moreton bay bug and saffron tagliatelle. I could smell from afar this exotic dish, and the flavours were seriously really unique and delicious! No other pasta have I had can compare.
My partner ordered a medium rare beef tenderloin but unfortunately it was a little overcooked but he enjoyed it nevertheless and I did manage to get a taste of the sauce and it was yum!
I also received a special surprise gift from the waitress, a hand made rose made out of aluminium foil. Very surprised and impressed! Not only, they personalised a happy 2 year anniversary message on our dessert. The staff at Catalina definitely made my partner and I's night!
I would definitely come back again to try their other dishes on the menu.
We came here for New Years dinner and the food was absolutely amazing especially the tiger prawn salad!
The views at Catalina are something special but what let down the whole experience was the service we received from our waiter.
He was not friendly at all, infact he was quite rude and snobby and did not make us feel welcome which was a shame. Even when leaving he didn't greet us to say thank you or happy new year. It just felt as though our table was needed for the next group of people and he was in a hurry for us to go. Very disappointed by this as there is no excuse for bad customer service.
Thank you for the amazing food though Catalina, we were very impressed.
Great natural lit restaurant right by the water at Rose Bay, looking over to Shark Island.
Food and Drinks provided were top notch, offering seasonal menus to ensure we get the freshes of ingredients.
With finer dining food, while still offering a bar menu, Catalina can accommodate those who want to dine in style or those who are just passing by for a quick drink and food whole enjoying the tranquility of the views of what Rose Bay has to over.
If you live in or around Rose Bay you have heard of Catalina. It is up there in terms of price but the views of the bay are stunning. We are yet to dine in for lunch or dinner however we highly recommend having a cocktail on the balcony. Try to go on a fine day without too much wind and you have the perfect spot to watch the seaplanes take off and land. The bar tenders know how to make a cocktail and the offering changes with the season so there is always plenty of choice. If you get peckish the bar snacks include olives, oysters, tacos and a few larger plates. My tip would be the cheese or charcuterie plate which are not cheap but pair nicely with the drinks and the atmosphere. There is three pages of cocktails most of which will cost you over $20 but chat to the friendly staff to find one that is right for you.
If fine dining were a religion, Catalina Rose Bay would be its Mecca. The views, the atmosphere and the food was faultless. I've dined at several restaurants and this by far gets an A++We started with the poached marron tail in orange aioli and the squid ink octopus and as expected it was light, refreshing and was enough to whet our appetite.
Next were the mains, after what felt like 30 minutes of deciding what to eat I settled for the moreton bay bug fettucini nero while Alan ordered the smoked duck in watercress and orange reduction. It's funny how food can turn two really chatty human beings into silent food devouring animals. But the food was just that good.
And because we were unable to decide which dessert to choose, our naughty indulgent selves ordered the dessert platter (problem solved). As the dessert plate came out Alan and I found ourselves licking our lips ready to dig in. We had the caramelised fig, the warm apple and almond tart, the raspberry cheesecake, mango panna cotta and the chocolate sensation. It was a dining home run.
Arrived on a Seaplane to a beautiful lunch. Birthday Lunch with Bae. Bae bought a package with seaplane and 3 course lunch. We arrived at Sydney Seaplanes which is next door to Catalina. Arrived in style! Catalina is located right on the water in Rose Bay. I last visited 7 years ago, was amazing then and still amazing now.
I head out to lunch and today its one with a lovely view. Catalina in Rose Bay is an amazing venue. The venue is perched next to Rose Bay wharf with breathtaking views across the harbour. I opt for a seat outside and it is a lovely view. I choose a wine to start and keep it as my pairing for the rest of the afternoon.
It's probably obvious from my tone of gushing throughout this blog post that we loved our meal at Catalina. Every aspect from the setting, service and food was phenomenal. I did a lot of eating over a short 3 day trip in Sydney but this has to be the gastronomic highlight. Even now, weeks after the meal, I can close my eyes and remember every delicious mouthful. I've read with sadness about a couple of big name Sydney restaurants closing in recent times (including one I JUST blogged about) and I pray Catalina doesn't fall under the same curse.
Food was absolutely perfect. Flavours amazing. Fresh and inventive. Portions perfect.
Ambience lovely. View spectacular.
Only thing they could have improved on was serving a never ending bottle of sparkling water that came from a tap to find we had spent $80 on water!
I have celebrated many occasions at this Sydney Darling as I am sure of many others who have done the same. It is so easy to see why when you walk into this spacious, waterfront place filled with crisp linen & service, fresh, modern food & a magazine sized drinks list to peruse. Whether it's for a birthday, anniversary, mothers day or a girls lunch, whatever food you choose to eat from freshly shuckes oysters to sushi to their amazing smoked salmon with a rich, gooey egg yolk & brioche toast, or the fish or fettucini to steak, you cant go wrong. Pick a cocktail or apperitivo when you settle in, take your time to select your food & wine. If your not sure about anything, there is always help at hand. Then sit back, relax, enjoy the view & all the fine things that are about to hit your table.
The food was really good! The view is awesome, specially when you go for sun set.
But the price is very (too) high and service rather bad. On addition, the te que too many tables compared to the space available, which makes the room very noisy and busy. Not the atmosphere you would expect when paying such a high price...
We went to Catalina Rose Bay to celebrate my mate’s wedding. Catalina has been a Good Food Guide’s one-hat restaurant for a few years. Catalina was also voted as the people’s award winner for 2015 by Australian Financial Review. The restaurant overlooked a beautiful bay with yachts and sunset view. So, having a wedding venue that is a combination of great food and great view isn’t that bad, is it? - Read more about the food at Catalina from the link below.
Have dined here on multiple occasions. Very pleasant experiences every time. The food is always fresh and tastes amazing. Highly recommended.
I have wanted to go to Catalina for a while and the wait made it worth it. The service is incredible as soon as you enter the door and the food is even more incredible. I would definitely recommend the barramundi with a spanner crab ravioli.
YOU MUST GO!!!
I would rate this as one of my favourite restaurants in Sydney.
Food 10/10
Service 9/10
Ambiance 8/10
Location 10/10
If you love AMAZING food this is the lance to go to!
Can't wait to go back!!
My Christmas lunch here was certainly one of the best dining experience of mine - from the food to the service, there isn't one aspect of this restaurant doesn't tick the box for me. Sure it's expensive but it's well worth it.
I had fresh oysters to start with and they were simply just divine. Presented in a tray with ice and red wine vinegar, they were simple and on point. I picked crispy skin barramundi with spanner crab ravioli for main dish and it was one of the best fish I have ever had. The fish wasn't over cooked at all like they usually are in normal restaurants and the portion was just perfect. The crab ravioli was exceptional and went very well with the fish. Dessert menu was very innovative - all the items were classic with a twist, just the way I like it. As always I picked creme brûlée, it lived up to my expectation and I was left craving for more after I devoured the whole thing in under two minutes.
Overall I just loved the experience, good food, good wine, amazing view, who wouldn't love it?
Hands down 1 of my top 5 dinning experiences ever. You can certainly see why it consistently named one of Australia’s best restaurants. From the service to the food, I can’t fault anything. We we’re seated on the deck with a spectacular view of a storm rolling in on a Summers afternoon. As Catalina requires tables of 2 to vacate tables after 2 hours, we made a late 2pm booking hoping no one would book after us… This worked! We enjoyed a long lunch of 3+ hours, sharing Oysters, the Seafood Antipasto and both ordering the Crispy Skin Barramundi. Can’t wait to dine again!
Great location overlooking the water - ideal time to dine here is during lunch as you will appreciate the view much better since you will be unable to see anything at night. A huge selection of drinks including very nice cocktails. The salmon was cooked perfectly and the staff were very attentive.
Unbelievable! Every single dish was perfect, cocktails were amazing and service was faultless! One of my favourite restaurants in Sydney! Totally worth the money!
Amazing dining experience at catalina. Came here for a birthday lunch and once you walk into the venue, the place is just so well lit with natural sunlight. We had the seafood platter and the produce was delightfully fresh and well prepared. The tempura batter was also perfectly crunchy whilst the prawns stayed succulent. I had the duck whilst my partner had the fish both of which we enjoyed immensely with flavours well balanced. Also of note are the fruity mocktails on offer which complement the summery vibe at the place. It's dear but as a once in a blue moon type of dining experience it's worth it.

We tried their famous suckling pig and even though it was quite delicious it was certainly not worth paying $110AU for it. However, the lobster pasta was absolutely devine! ✌ @foodiesguidetosydney
An amazing night! Service was fantastic and food was delicious! Couldn't fault anything except the presentation of the pasta could be slightly neater.
Rated #1 in Sydney for a reason. The food is absolutely perfect with every expectation met for a restaurant of this calibre. My only downside comment would be we had too many waiters. It felt disorganised and took from the experience as we were constantly interrupted. A beautiful view topped the experience
Best day of my life!! One of the best pork belly dishes I've ever had...the crispy to soft ratio was perfect. When the dessert came out it made my night...no my year...caramelised fig with Persian fairy floss and caramel praline with an amazing view. Only negative is the wait staff were slightly snobbish

Beautiful spot on the water; In sunshine this place is the ultimate spot for a lazy lunch and a glass of wine. The entrees are incredible, however that Lobster Fettuccine Nero will make you stop in your tracks!
Had the pleasure of going to Catalina for my 21st bday. What a beautiful, beautiful spot. Gorgeous food, cocktails and service. The waitor made me feel so special and made a point of wishing me happy birthday! They also moved us outside in the afternoon to enjoy a final drink and dessert on the balcony. 10/10, $250 well spent.
Went there for my birthday dinner... Lovely outdoor table with water view and sunset was fantastic.
Great menu and wine list to choose from. Service was good.
Alex: For over 20 years Catalina has sat at the forefront of Sydney’s fine dining scene. The restaurant inside is simplistic in it’s design with it’s main focus being the floor to ceiling windows which give an unparalleled view over Rose Bay. Even on this particularly wet day the view was as stunning as ever.
John. Great lunch in a beautiful location ! The staff were very good and menu selection was excellent. Highly Recommend !!
Fantastic ambience. Great service. Fresh and delicious foods. You really can't ask for more. The 3 course weekend menu for $140 is a steal for the quality produce served. I had the scallops for entree, whole snapper for main and the cheese platter for dessert. Coffee and petit fours also come with this menu. My friends had other options for their courses and each dish looked amazing. I don't think you can go wrong with any of the selections on the menu. The best thing is there's no time limit on your seating so you can stay for as long as you wish to enjoy those views! I'd highly recommend a day time meal for this restaurant so that there's enough light to appreciate the stunning location.
An absolute Sydney icon, Catalina must be on everyone’s list. With that amazing view as the backdrop, the food that comes out is flawlessly done. The wine menu is extensive and fit for every budget. Service and attentiveness can waiver when they get busy, which is the only blemish on an otherwise great place!
Service was good overall, particular shoutout to the waiter with the one earring- absolute star.
Food was okay, not the best ‘fine dining’ in Sydney but big portions.
There were a lot of flies in the restaurant, we were swatting away up to four at one point and they kept landing on the food.
We dined at Catalina for the first time on Friday night. We mentioned we were celebrating a 40th birthday. We asked if we could be sat somewhere near the windows but we were quickly dismissed by the snotty aged woman in the reception saying “there’s view everywhere”. She was moody that night, it kind of started our night sourly. the seats in the window and middle aisle weren’t occupied at all, even after we left. We then noticed that all the diners with kids/family are “strategically”placed on the far end and sides of the restaurant, despite the request/ occasion or acuity.
Servings and food were delicious. Other waiters were friendly and assisted us well. Hence I’m giving 4 stars
Friday lunch. Fantastic location, fantastic service, fantastic food but fantastically loud.
The Kingfish entree was amazing, as was the Murray Cod. Others in our group loved the prawns, WA Marron and the scollops. Lux desserts to wrap things up.
Service was friendly, and surprisingly attentive given the packed state of the venue.
All in track for 5 stars if we not for the ambient noise level even with doors all open across the bay.
Hint: get the ferry back to the city as the sun goes down.
We were celebrating my husbands 70th birthday with a lunch. We were looked after beautifully. Excellent service left us feeling special. The food was as always excellent, delicious and perfectly presented.
The acknowledgment of my husbands birthday in writing on his dessert plate was perfect. Thank you for making this occasion everything I had hoped it would be. Just thank you.
Exceptional customer service, Catalina always knows how to make a meal feel special and carefully created. The sommelier was knowledgeable and helpful when choosing wine. Each course and side was delicious. Love the venue as always, easy parking and beautiful view, sitting on the water only elevates the experience. Second time visiting and would definately keep coming back for important events.
