I got Big John’s delivered to work on a Wednesday night. I normally hate getting pizza at work because of the complexities it introduces with sharing slices, but our recent night-time practice has been to eat in a group to protect each other from ravenous onlookers. The Atlantic Special pizza ($15.80, small) was quite special. There was plenty of seafood and the pizza was overall light and tasty. The addition of a lemon wedge was a nice touch and really elevated the pizza.
Food was great, service was good too. The seafood platter for 2 was crazily big. Not sure how 2 people can finish that. But overall good price, large portions of food and good place for seafood!
Always been happy with these guys ... i seriously think the negative comments are just negative people .. I can not imagine in all the times I have eaten there that they would be rude or ignorant unless the customer was unreasonable .. its not the ritz Carlton its a mid range pizza and Italian with great coffee and drinks .... I TOTALLY LOVE THIS PLACE
Can't remember if I've ever had a bad meal at Big John's in Sans Souci. Last night I had the Bosciola with Spaghetti and it was outstanding with amazing garlic bread. Seafood dishes and pizzas are also magnificent
It's a great option to go with a big group of people and eat seafood until your full! We order the big big plate that has to many options of seafood, was delicious! But believe me that with that a group of 8 can eat perfectly cause it's huge!
The only bad thing of this restaurant is the place. It's so so small and the kitchen it's just in front of you, so it's crowd and hot as hell. I recommend go between 8:30 9, cause early is too much people and you'll not find a good table. It's better to wait and eat calm and enjoy your night.
Big Johns are only good for their pizzas, pastas and occasionally their salads.
Servings size are quite generous as well.
But with grill and BBQed, I don't know.
We ordered a BBQed seafood dish and what was served to us was a steam looking seafood with salt and pepper for seasoning.
We were expecting grill, charred, nicely marinated seafood with steaming flavoursome smell.
We spoke to the manager about it and they indeed put salt and pepper for the seasoning and they apparently did put it on the grill.
The dish looked very much steamed to us. But either way, we'll be back for the pizzas and pastas instead.
Ok so hadnt been here for bout 20 years and happen to be in the area so in we went.
Hasnt changed much still squishy inside. One must be thin really or its crap. I like the atmosphere here its casual and noisy.
Food wise. No changes either really. My carbonara was decent but lacked a bit of creaminess. Oooh no say the italians that is not authentic but hey man i love a creamy but not sloppy carbonara. But i must say it was very oily.
My partner had veal al funghi. A bit chewy but great sauce. The veges were stoll frozen tho. Crunch crunch nearly lost my crown man!!!
Oh garlic bread wouldve been spot on if cooked a bit more.
Service was fantastic as was the PORTIONS. I took home rest for my hungry brother.
I give it 3.5 not 3 cause of the latter qualities but will go back because ive just gotta smash that GINORMOUS caesar salad its like something off that crazy american show where they have competitors to eat 5 kgs burgers and 2kg of fries with cheese sauce and a 2 litre milkshake. Crazy arse big.
Service was quick, despite what we've read and waiters were friendly. The rice wasn't fresh but portions were generous
Best all meats pizza ive ever had!! quality meats
Love the food here but thought it was an italian place all i see in the kitchen are indians
Looking the narky comments about the staff..We were a little hesitant.. We decided to ignore the comments and give it a go. The food was pretty good. We are glad we went. The veal was lovely and the toppings on the pizza was great.
Reasonable pricing, and generous servings. The staff were actually really nice, they were super busy and still found time to crack a joke here and there. Ignore the whingers on google reviews, their lack of patience and self entitlement during covid times astounds me.. Big john's nice little Pitt stop. We will be back. 😊
Wonderful dining experience in The Big John classic Italian restaurant.
The fettuccine boscaiola is the best with perfectly cooked pasta and rich creamy sauce.
Big John special pizza is also very tasty and fulfilling with generous portions and ingredients.
Chilli oil, Garlic oil and grated Parmesan cheese are available on the table directly.
Electronic payment is available but will be free of surcharge when the total bill is above $50.
We keep coming back! 😊 The pizzas and pasta were delicious and wait times were reasonable. The customer service was also terrific, all the servers we met were lovely and very welcoming. We were also very happy to have met Diane who was kind enough to be flexible with seating arrangements and generous with the desserts. Wish everyone well and hope many others will also have a positive experience.
Food is always amazing. Portion sizes never disappoint and a huge variety to chose from. Prices are great too. If I was to pick on anything it would be the cleanliness of the bathroom cubicles. They could use a good clean. But then again we are not there for the cubicles we are there for the great food and atmosphere
My experience was great Amazing take away pizza (pick up) on a busy Saturday night. Having said that, I can understand the frustration from some of the reviews. This place is next level busy, it's loud, the staff are constantly stressed and you can see how things could fall apart easily. It took us 30 minutes to get someone to take the order, and 15 minutes to make it. In the end, great food, glad we stopped in.
