First timer at the Fig and Walnut!!
friendly staff coffee made perfect and the Cauliflower and blue cheese soup is to die for I'll be coming back as a regular
I had the most delicious lunch yesterday. The Greek Salad bowl was delicious. The service down to earth and lovely. Coffee 👌. Highly recommend
Arrived Sunday morning during the brunch rush. Staff were accommodating and sat us just inside the front door.
Coffees came quickly & were beautiful.
Dad commented that the display cabinet had the biggest sausage rolls he’d ever seen.
Kids meal arrived super quick which was much appreciated. Kept the little one occupied.
I was tossing up between the Okonomiyaki & the Persian Pancakes. I’m glad I went the pancake as the Okonomiyaki was too heavy on the chilli and coriander for me. My husband loved it.
The menu says Persian Pancakes, but there is only one pancake.
Pancake was super sweet but I enjoyed it. The chocolate halva, rose water syrup & fairy floss all added to the sugar hit.
Mum had the Garden Patch & was thankful to find a breakfast dish which wasn’t served with thick, heavy bread. Nice & fresh.
Dad went the Chilli Scrambled Eggs. Good sized serve but would have preferred some more chilli cooked through the eggs instead of fresh chilli sprinkled on top.
Overall, a great breakfast with some amazing dishes that you wouldn’t think to cook at home, or find on menus elsewhere.
Their cake display looks amazing too!
Super friendly floor staff but the staff member who took our payment & made coffee was a bit snappy.
This place is bang on the money.
Cute decor, lovely staff and unbelievably tasty and creative food.
I got the chilli scrambled eggs and my partner got the smashed avo and we were both more than pleased with our dishes.
The chilli scrambled eggs were easily one of the best egg dishes I’ve ever had. Soft fluffy eggs with a chilli oil, fried enoki mushrooms and a cheesy sauce on crunchy sourdough. I’m in a food coma as I’m writing this so be mindful that the dishes are very generous in sizing!
With so many brunch places to try in Melbourne, I would still definitely return to Fig and Walnut to try other items of their menu... or maybe just to order the chilli scrambled eggs again 😏
Easily one of the best brunch places I have ever been to.
Got the smashed avo with an add on of thick cut bacon.
All of the elements on the dish went perfectly together. It’s clear that a lot of thought has gone into there menu.
Serving size very generous. Can’t wait to head back.
4.5/5
Came here in a Sat morning and it was pretty busy but we managed to get a nice seat in the courtyard..
We shared a toastie and had some coffees..
Coffees were decent and the toastie was ok too..
Atmosphere was good and suitable for kids and pets too.. indoor seating was a bit limited so it would be better to come here on a day when it isn’t wet or too cold..
At first glance, Fig and Walnut is merely an unassuming cafe located very near the train station, but walked inside and you will be greeted by a most cosy and warm atmosphere, and walked further out back to the courtyard and you will have arrived in an oasis of peace and relaxation.
Exceptional service abounds, and they were genuinely interested in hearing about our experience, and was open to feedback. The one page menu is brief and simple, but this doesn't mean it makes it any easier to choose!
The Garden Goddess sounded simple on paper, but it was executed really well, resulting in a dish that was well-rounded in flavours and textures. The roasted pumpkin exuded a subtle sweetness, that complemented the earthy mellow flavour of the baba ganoush. Crunchy greens, and two perfectly poached eggs rounded up this dish.
The Okonomiyaki was amazing too - not too oily, crisped exterior and well-seasoned. The pork belly was tender and bursting with flavours, and the zucchini and apple salad was just what this dish needed to balanced out all that rich flavours.
My partner's skinny latte was excellent - strong, smooth and with a creamy mouthfeel. My Cherry Chocolate smoothie was also very tasty, albeit not being chilled enough.
A delightful and unpretentious joint that is worth a return visit, or two, or more!
Absolutely loved this little spot, in a beautiful old building with rustic feel and gorgeous outdoor dining space.
Their menu is perfect, not so big that you struggle to decide but enough options for even the fussiest of eaters. I went for the veggie pancakes with pork belly; so many flavours and elements to this dish it felt like having three breakfast dishes in one! Their ‘Wog Roll’ was so fresh and was the closest thing you’ll get to a good sandwich outside of NYC.
Definitely be heading back to this awesome spot!
They recently added a new menu. The flash brew is great. From the new menu the pancakes with pork belly are a true winner. The twice cooked pork belly is great! love the venue, plenty of room and has a an area for the kids out back.
Great little place ... with a cool court/backyard setup (to enjoy the sun)...
Definitely great coffee, and good portion size (food).
I'm a big eater, and even I couldn't finish the delicious 'The Smash, with chorizo' ... it's a must have!

Nice little place in a quiet backstreet. My beef sandwich was delicious although my partner didn't like her salmon and eggs very much. Still, staff were friendly and it had a lovely little back yard which was nice for the kids.
Second visit to fig & walnut & again did not disappoint.
Love the funky decor especially the chandeliers & water decanters. Outdoor section is lush with hanging baskets & the cool feature wall.
Food, i had the omelette with added bacon as recommended on the meun. Bacon was a great add, not too sure about the blue cheese in the omelette though. Hubby had the ruby sando & love it, coffee was very good.
Service was friendly.
