I highly recommend Vera and her team from Fig & Walnut. They catered two of my workshops and it was the best food I've ever had. Awesome service, great food, and Vera is just lovely. Can't wait to work with you again. Thank you so much guys! 😘

This is a beautiful cafe with a lovely menu. We had our son’s first birthday here and they couldn’t have made it any easier. This is a little place with a big heart and it’s become one of our favourites. Children’s play area is fantastic, too.

This place is an overdue little gem in a quaint suburban street. I had the 'Mushroom Crostini' with two poached eggs added. It was such a delight, and it really hit the spot. The whipped ricotta and vincotto drizzle combination was unreal. Will definitely be back to try the rest of the original menu.

My friends threw me a lovely baby shower after hours last night. I had never been here before and am wondering how it is i havnt heard about this amazing place. Beautiful atmosphere and lovely decor. The staff and owners were so incredibly sweet. They were very attentive and did everything they could to ensure the night was a success. They even bought me a little gift. The food was so good and there was so much of it that we all had to take food home. Looking for any excuse to have to throw another event here. Thank you all so much for everything and for making it a night to remember. I loved everything and can't wait to be back as a refuser customer with baby

First time here today. Food was delish, inviting surroundings and service fantastic (friendly and accomodating). What gave this place a big thumbs up was the coffee - smooth and creamy! Give this place ago.

Arrived Sunday morning during the brunch rush. Staff were accommodating and sat us just inside the front door.
Coffees came quickly & were beautiful.
Dad commented that the display cabinet had the biggest sausage rolls he’d ever seen.
Kids meal arrived super quick which was much appreciated. Kept the little one occupied.
I was tossing up between the Okonomiyaki & the Persian Pancakes. I’m glad I went the pancake as the Okonomiyaki was too heavy on the chilli and coriander for me. My husband loved it.
The menu says Persian Pancakes, but there is only one pancake.
Pancake was super sweet but I enjoyed it. The chocolate halva, rose water syrup & fairy floss all added to the sugar hit.
Mum had the Garden Patch & was thankful to find a breakfast dish which wasn’t served with thick, heavy bread. Nice & fresh.
Dad went the Chilli Scrambled Eggs. Good sized serve but would have preferred some more chilli cooked through the eggs instead of fresh chilli sprinkled on top.
Overall, a great breakfast with some amazing dishes that you wouldn’t think to cook at home, or find on menus elsewhere.
Their cake display looks amazing too!
Super friendly floor staff but the staff member who took our payment & made coffee was a bit snappy.

This place is bang on the money.
Cute decor, lovely staff and unbelievably tasty and creative food.
I got the chilli scrambled eggs and my partner got the smashed avo and we were both more than pleased with our dishes.
The chilli scrambled eggs were easily one of the best egg dishes I’ve ever had. Soft fluffy eggs with a chilli oil, fried enoki mushrooms and a cheesy sauce on crunchy sourdough. I’m in a food coma as I’m writing this so be mindful that the dishes are very generous in sizing!
With so many brunch places to try in Melbourne, I would still definitely return to Fig and Walnut to try other items of their menu... or maybe just to order the chilli scrambled eggs again 😏

Easily one of the best brunch places I have ever been to.
Got the smashed avo with an add on of thick cut bacon.
All of the elements on the dish went perfectly together. It’s clear that a lot of thought has gone into there menu.
Serving size very generous. Can’t wait to head back.

Came here in a Sat morning and it was pretty busy but we managed to get a nice seat in the courtyard..
We shared a toastie and had some coffees..
Coffees were decent and the toastie was ok too..
Atmosphere was good and suitable for kids and pets too.. indoor seating was a bit limited so it would be better to come here on a day when it isn’t wet or too cold..

At first glance, Fig and Walnut is merely an unassuming cafe located very near the train station, but walked inside and you will be greeted by a most cosy and warm atmosphere, and walked further out back to the courtyard and you will have arrived in an oasis of peace and relaxation.

Exceptional service abounds, and they were genuinely interested in hearing about our experience, and was open to feedback. The one page menu is brief and simple, but this doesn't mean it makes it any easier to choose!

The Garden Goddess sounded simple on paper, but it was executed really well, resulting in a dish that was well-rounded in flavours and textures. The roasted pumpkin exuded a subtle sweetness, that complemented the earthy mellow flavour of the baba ganoush. Crunchy greens, and two perfectly poached eggs rounded up this dish.

The Okonomiyaki was amazing too - not too oily, crisped exterior and well-seasoned. The pork belly was tender and bursting with flavours, and the zucchini and apple salad was just what this dish needed to balanced out all that rich flavours.

My partner's skinny latte was excellent - strong, smooth and with a creamy mouthfeel. My Cherry Chocolate smoothie was also very tasty, albeit not being chilled enough.

A delightful and unpretentious joint that is worth a return visit, or two, or more!

Absolutely loved this little spot, in a beautiful old building with rustic feel and gorgeous outdoor dining space.
Their menu is perfect, not so big that you struggle to decide but enough options for even the fussiest of eaters. I went for the veggie pancakes with pork belly; so many flavours and elements to this dish it felt like having three breakfast dishes in one! Their ‘Wog Roll’ was so fresh and was the closest thing you’ll get to a good sandwich outside of NYC.
Definitely be heading back to this awesome spot!

They recently added a new menu. The flash brew is great. From the new menu the pancakes with pork belly are a true winner. The twice cooked pork belly is great! love the venue, plenty of room and has a an area for the kids out back.

Great little place ... with a cool court/backyard setup (to enjoy the sun)...

Definitely great coffee, and good portion size (food).

I'm a big eater, and even I couldn't finish the delicious 'The Smash, with chorizo' ... it's a must have!

Nice little place in a quiet backstreet. My beef sandwich was delicious although my partner didn't like her salmon and eggs very much. Still, staff were friendly and it had a lovely little back yard which was nice for the kids.

Second visit to fig & walnut & again did not disappoint.
Love the funky decor especially the chandeliers & water decanters. Outdoor section is lush with hanging baskets & the cool feature wall.
Food, i had the omelette with added bacon as recommended on the meun. Bacon was a great add, not too sure about the blue cheese in the omelette though. Hubby had the ruby sando & love it, coffee was very good.
Service was friendly.

Great spot for brunch and their the outdoor area was amazing to get some sunshine ☀️
Our orders were prompt, however my friend had to go to pick up the menu. Which was not a biggie as that wasn’t much of a hassle for us, unless you’re feeling entitled to be catered for all the time 😒.
Anyway overall I love my vegan bowl, soo filling.
Staff were friendly and easy going 👍🏾.

Had a delicious (and nutritious) lunch here today. I had the hommus and beetroot toast with kale chips, and my partner had the pancakes and loved them. We also tried the vegan chocolate cake- AMAZING!! It was also a beautiful and relaxing space, with great coffee and lovely staff. Will definitely be back.

Visited this place on a recent weekend. The person I went with had had a good experience midweek.

The Pros: Really fresh food, best scrambled eggs I have tasted and lovely bacon. Inviting little cubby area out the back for little kids. My company for the day loved the variety of vege options.

The Cons: Waitress got a couple of things wrong, including coffees which came well after breakfast was finished despite being ordered before the food.

Verdict: I didn't love my experience, but will actually be going back. Early stages for this cafe and whilst I would personally like more meat options, I also acknowledge they are trying to do something a little different.

Fig & Walnut is the new kid on the Seddon block, right in front of the train station, and a hit since day one.

The premises are very charming with different seating areas, alfresco and backyard areas included, the last one being a hit with kids. FW is a very busy and vibrant place and it has a great vibe and ambience.

The cafe offers a selection of Mediterranean dishes, heavily side on the Greek and Turkish side, and their menu is really varied and lovely.

Their coffee was well prepared very good without without any sugar, strong but not bitter with a nutty taste to it.  Not everybody's cup of tea, but I liked it. I tend to have my coffee with skim milk so the nuttiness was quite pronounced.

I had their baked eggs and the dish was generous in size, with a wonderful mix of ingredients - earthy, filling, and flavoursome but the eggs were a big hard. Good.

I got an slider as an entree, which are pre-prepared in the cabinet and then slightly toasted on demand.  Mine was just haloumi with fresh fig. You cannot go wrong with that combination.

There were really nice sweets on display, but I haven't tried any yet, my eyes were glued to them though.

All the staff were very nice, but especially the older guys , who were especially attentive with me and with everybody else. The place was packed to the rafters when I visited, and they were struggling to attend to everybody. The service resented a bit, the food was on a 15-minute waiting list (although they told me in advance) and the girls were really rushing, so they didn't put cutlery on my table; they have jars with napkins and cutlery on each table, but mine was empty. They were running, difficult to notice all the little things. It is understandable.  As the place is now on weekends, they need another waiter because this is a large cafe.

The place was waiting for an efptos machine in the two first two weeks, but they should have one by now.

A great new addition to the Seddon cafe scene. Great place, vibe and menu. I will be back and readjust ratings if needed.

We were very happy to hear Fig and Walnut had finally opened.
Fantastic menu for those of us who prefer healthy quality over your standard 'big breakfast' fare.
Staff are attentive and friendly.
Decor is well done, well laid out, little nooks to accommodate smaller tables and bigger groups.
And last but not least, the coffee, very good, I'm a long black girl (to drink, not looks) and they nailed it!
We will be back, often.

Thank you Fig and Walnut

Fig and Walnut is open, and I had to take a sneaky peak on day 2 of their operations. If you’re an inner-westie, you may be familar with this location – the set of old shops opposite Seddon station that have been pretty quiet for years (hint: the whole menu is available to takeaway which works for commuters). The newly renovated space is both warm and opulent with big heaters and vintage styling.  There’s an inviting looking rear garden where kids have already run wild (check out the poor, newly laid grass!).  The menu has many typical Melbourne cafe dishes with a Mediterranean twist but also several uniquely Greek dishes.  For those of use with food intolerances, they make their own gluten-free bread and donuts, the pancakes are gluten-free, the soup is vegan, there’s cashew feta, the yogurt is of the coconut variety, and there is a milk/mylk for every digestive system. My oat porridge is seriously pretty and should go into food-modelling. This is a dish full of surprises like little pops of pomegranate and fresh sprigs of mint.  I’ll be back. Perhaps even over the weekend.
