Review Thai Orchid - Shepparton

Umm Starters were cold. Curry puff was just potato. Roti was tough and cold not crispy. Jungle curry was c 4 chilli but was bland. Pad Thai was like mush. Way over cooked. Like noodle porridge if that's your thing... chicken satay was just chicken filet things with peanut butter...ummm Plus was $$$. $28 for seafood pad Thai had two prawns one scollop and two tubes of calimari.

Great place with a great atmosphere. Love the addition of the fish. The ordering of food can be done both offline and online. The food was great, it was warm and packed authentic Thai flavouring. Definitely coming here again. Suitable for all ages.

The flavour of the dish (spicy cashew stir fry) I tried was delicious but the portion size was far too small, especially for the price of $18.90. I was still hungry afterwards. If you want plain rice that costs extra at $5.50 per person. The ice cream with caramel sauce was not worth it for $7.50. There was hardly any sauce and the ice cream tasted icy and crunchy in parts like it had been defrosted and re-frozen. The staff were friendly, service was good and the interior nicely decorated.

Average food. Red curry was rather plain. Phi tie was lacking a lot. Vary little meet and few veggies. Mostly noodles. Coconut rice was well done though. Added enough to redeem the curry somewhat and make it taster. Normally it’s the other way around but whatever.

Fresh delicious meals. Banquet was plentiful for 3 of us. Dessert scrumptious! Staff were very friendly too

Dear readers, as we enter this stunningly authentic Thai restaurant, the decor we are greeted with instantly transport us to lands far away, and we know a taste sensation awaits us. You have the choice at this amazing restaurant to either sit in a stunning sunken table, or a more Western style table setting. I my and my dear friends sat at a sunken table, I felt so authentic. LoL's the colour scheme of the booths is so very shrinking deep marones, with fanned style napkin. Truly the most cutest of arrangements. As you have made yourself comfy, the serving staff are not immediately jumping on you. My friend and I were able to settle in and started chatting, long before the serving staff very unobtrusively came to us to ask if we wanted any drinks. The serving staff are truly exemplary at Thai Orchid. But dear readers lets get to the food, oh my, oh my, within Thai food I have two weaknesses roti bread, and Tom Yum, and Tom Ka soup. And the Tom Yum soup at the Thai Orchid is divine. As the first taste explodes across your palette the deep flavours of lemongrass, ginger, and slight tingle of chilli cause your taste buds to dance, dance, dance. 😁 As the meal went on, I decided that I would have a dessert, the name of the dessert eludes me, but it was a fresh bananas that were cooked in coconut milk with a dash of sugar and toasted sesame seeds, oh bless my socks. I have never tasted anything so damn good, similarly sweet and creamy, with a velvet texture that blew my mind. Yuuuuuuuummmmmmm. And I would like to mention a young lady of the serving staff, whom laughed with my dear friends and I as I showed funny tic tocks. For the young woman laughed with us, and told us a great story of why Tick Tock is banned at their school. All in all my dear readers, if a true and wonderful Thai experience is what you desire, look no further. 10/10.

The best Thai Restaurant in Shepparton! But if the menu show the photo of the dishes it will be awesome.

While I passed Shepparton on my way to Sydney I was starving and stoped in front of this Restaurant called Thai Orchid. It opens 5pm during the week and it was very welcoming. As I entered, the friendly young lady placed me near the window and after few minutes the restaurant was busy already. Seems to be well known in this country town. The waitress ask me detailed and friendly what I would like to eat. I even didn't used the menu as her customer service was excellent. I chose the coconut rice with fried veggies and table water. The atmosphere was lovely and you won't feel lonely even you enjoy your solo dinner. When you ever pass Shepparton, just drop in at Thai Orchid Restaurant and enjoy your Meal with friends, family or just by yourself.

Expensive, inauthentic Thai served by Chinese and a (bossy) Filipina waitresses.

This place looks like a country town Chinese to Thai restaurant conversion, a cauliflower, Broccoli, carrot and onion plus sauce kinda place that in the city wouldn't survive in the city but is busy here in Shepparton, so where do I buy shares? Is this a business opportunity for someone who can offer something else?

Went there for an early dinner with the family. Service was fast we probably missed the rush it was busy when we were leaving. Food was awesome, great flavours and good quantity. Often Thai servings are small but not here. Had spring rolls, satay chicken followed by mains madman beef, yellow chicken and pad Thai chicken. All were great, we also had garlic roti with peanut sauce. We are up this way a few times a year and will definitely be back. Favourite dish was the madman beef it melted so tender and the sauce flavour was awesome with lots of potato also.

Away for business I Zomato'd locate eats and found the 3.5 rating and menu options good enough for the nights dinner. Our takeaway fair was plentiful, and filled the gap in our empty stomachs. I can't say it's the best Thai I've ever had, never the less takeaway is never as good when served fresh straight from the kitchen.

I would most certainly visit Thai Orchid again if and when we're back in Shepparton. Only if it's to just sit on their luxe velour bench seats, very 80's and quite nostalgic.

To be quite frank. It is really expensive and tastes no where near authentic. The vegetables are all pre cut and you can see the same cuts through all the dishes. The Pad Thai is just drowned out with fish sauce and the curry is lacking in depth of flavour and its serving size is laughable for the $$ you fork out.

But I guess when there is no other Thai restaurant in town you would still be #1

Was really looking forward to this after a long day at work with much driving. Alas whilst they do home delivery, the only accommodation they'll deliver to is Quest. So they lost a sale despite me being only 500 metres down the road.

I was with a party of two others and each night we trialled a different restaurant and scored the overall dining experience out of 10. We scored Thai Orchid a 10/10 EACH. Giving it an overall score of 30/30. Highly recommend it, tell your kids, tell your wife cause they cooking up some good thai

Absolutely delicious! Brought the family for a dinner on the Australia Day weekend. Service and as great, food was flawless. Highly recommended. I will return.

*** Told you I would be back. Dined here 25-05-16 on a work trip. Just as good as last time. Had the Seafood Jungle Curry which was delicious.

Amazing food! Great Service! I have been to many Thai resturants around Australia and travelled Thailand extensively and this one by far comes the closest to authentic thai food, the food is presented very well and the flavours are just amazing. Well worth the trip from sydney for, will definately be back again when passing on through.

Very friendly and efficient staff. Not the most authentic Thai food, or the cheapest in town, but still very tasty. The decor is lovely, very unique for a restaurant, particularly in a small town such as Shepparton.

Lovely meals, yet the owner turned off the heater and lights before we finished our meals, very unprofessional!!

Food is good, and the waitresses are great and friendly. Extremely disappointing to find that the owner will happily push you out of your seats just to turn the lights off and go. Don't enjoy your time to much, or he will push you all out by turning off the music and the lights just to get his pay and get rid of you. At times I've experienced him turning off the heating during winter when he's ready to go home, to make the restaurant too uncomfortable to stay in. The staff, who are lovely, look so embarrassed when the customers leave early, food Half finished.

Two things. Ambiance and food
Let's start with the bad...
Ambiance. It's more like a kinder than a restaurant. Kids running all over the place and screaming and parents running after them. Awful... And painful.
The food - shockingly good. Was really surprised!
so if you don't mind the lack of music and getting a headache from kids, then this is the place for you.
Explains the large amounts of take away....

Thai Orchid has a great atmosphere created by a great Thai inspired decor and very friendly waitresses who always greet you with a warm welcome and a friendly smile, the service is great and the food is good. My favourite asian restaurant in Shepparton

Great service, great meal, great atmosphere- can't wait to return. Highly recommend it

Food was really average...fried rice was probably the best part of the meal. Service was really nice

I always find fabulous food and good service here. Great atmosphere with the Thai huts too!

My favourite Thai takeaway! But shop decor is also set up nicely to eat in. Service was friendly.

Last Saturday night, my fellow colleagues and I attended this restaurant for a banquet meal. There were about 19 of us in total....Wow...where do I start??? This hidden gem is tucked away in a little street just off the main road in Shepparton, I don't think many tourists would know about this place unless you know someone from the town itself. I had to park the car a block away...it was the closest park I could find. Approaching the place...the aromas of fresh Thai food were clearly sending my senses into overdrive. As you walk into the restaurant, it's like your walking the fresh food night market street stalls in Thailand...except here you know the food is fresh and tasty...We were greeted by some lovely waitresses and a lovely little Scottish fellow...who treated us with the utmost professionalism and really catered for our needs. We ordered the banquet for all of us and they even accomodated for a few of us who are vegans. The service, ambience and the quality of the food was absolutely outstanding. We had an amazing night, would definitely return just to see the lovely Scottish fellow who took great care of us. Order the thai bananas for dessert, the best sweetest bananas I've ever had in my life.

-----21 Nov, 2013-----

Exceptional. I have had the privilege of traveling through Thailand and in particular Khao Lak where I have eaten some of the best Thai food. However, this place in Shepparton is seriously one of the BEST Thai restaurants I have ever been to. Every time I go there it feels like I am isolated somewhere on an exotic beach in Thailand eating authentic Thai food. Not only is the food of exceptional standard, the lovely young Scottish fellow who owns the restaurant is very hospitable and will give you a dining experience you will always remember. All of the staff are very welcoming and I must say that the veggies have that extra crunch, must be very fresh indeed. For all those urban spoon followers out there, don't waste your time going anywhere else in Shepparton or surrounding areas, this is the ONLY place to go for a genuine Thai dining experience. To the owner, keep up the exceptional work, can't wait to go back there again soon.

Not well treated. Visited this place when on a work trip. I wasn't greeted well. The staff wasn't very friendly. The entree (The golden bag) wasn't very nice as recommended by the staff. Pad thai was good but too expensive almost $24 (prawn) Overall ok

Defiantly the best place to eat in Shepparton.. Food always taste spot on perfect.. Can take a bit to get meals but that's usually because they are always flat out. I get takeaway every week from here.. Always ring ahead and order.. If dinning in drink service can be a little slow but the food is so awesome it doesn't matter..

Had my first date here many years ago & have watched the owners evolve this restaraunt into what it is today - grwat food, great service & in a relaxing Thai style surround with thai huts, exotic fish & seahorses. Deffinitely a dining experience for the whole family! Love it!

Mixed. Pleasantly surprised at the nice decor, and the satay chicken entree was a real highlight. Unfortunately the Pad Thai was a let down. It was drenched in fish sauce and not very nice.

Authentic tasty food. Each time we visit Shepparton we always make point of eating at Thai Orchard. The food is tasty and authentic and the staff are friendly, helpful and polite. This thai restaurant is as good as our favourite one in Sydney.
