Review Fryers Street Food Store - Shepparton

The food was just ok. The chicken on the salad was so dry I didn't even finish it... adding the yogurt from the salad didn't help either. Might have just been unlucky on my dish as judging on the number of people there, it seems like a popular spot.

Found this place via Google Maps. It is a little gem. The food was fantastic. The children's gnocchi was amazing for a kids meal. The carrot cake and the raspberry&rhubarb cake were absolutely divine. Coffee was well made but the flavour was weak and tasted bland. Perhaps down to poorer quality beans? Looking forward to coming again when we next visit Shepparton.

Came here on a work trip up to Shep, definitely glad I went here. My breakfast was excellent, I had a Atlantic eggs Benedict which was delicious. The coffee was very well made (I had oat milk) but I think the beans they use aren’t very good - still ok enough that it didn’t detract from my whole experience here. If you’re in Shepparton looking for breakfast/ brunch this is a must visit.

Had a lovely lunch but having chosen the place after checking menu online was disappointed to find that was not the menu offered today. Told management would have to update the website not a great excuse. Not a good business practice as false advertising

The food was very nice. Our young waitress was really friendly and happy to have a quick chat even though they were really busy.

I ordered the oxtail and it’s good. But it does get a bit too salty after a while. My colleague had the fun guy pizza and she enjoyed it a lot.

I had takeaway coffee. While I was waiting I noticed them preparing my coffee. I was surprised by their lack of hygiene in coffee machines and used milk jug was taken out of sink without washing properly used for my coffee. Didn't expected form one of my favourite places 😔

We care here for breakfast with a group of mates. The service was friendly and efficient. The food was fantastic and so affordable.

Called in for a quick midweek lunch on a super cold day.
Welcoming space with open kitchen and amazing looking cake display 😍
Service was great, nice staff.
Coffee was strong with a good robust flavour. Not nutty or bitter.
Lunch was hit & miss. I absolutely loved my Gnocchi. Fluffy pillows of happiness wrapped in a tomatoey beef ragout. Yum. I was so full I couldn’t fit in a cake afterwards.
Hubby wasn’t wrapped with his Buttermilk Chicken. The outer coating was still a bit soft, as were the sweet potato chips. The chicken itself didn’t have much flavour but everything on the plate was overpowered by the super strong BBQ sauce.
Oh well, he’ll know to get a panini next time.
Even if our next visit to Shepp isn’t timed with lunch, would still definitely call into Fryers Street Food Store for coffee & cake.

Pathetic and very rude staff. Not coming back. Took them ages to come and get us seated and then ages to get a coffee and food. Not much variety.

Cool cafe in Shep with a store attached selling local preserves, jams and cheese. There’s a breakfast menu along with a selection of cakes and slices for those on the go

Had lunch here today and would give them solid 3.5/5. Highlight was my Ragu Gnocchi and chips along with raspberry and rhubarb cake. Had a few dishes ordered by others apparently gummy shark was good for kids and adults . Service was friendly. Affordable prices.

I initially came here for takeaway coffee. The coffee and service was great. You also get a discount for bringing your own keep cup.

Today I decided to have breakfast here and it was delicious. I had a bacon and egg roll with an Earl Grey tea. The sourdough buns were very nice as they were toasted and had the perfect amount of chewiness. There is also a delicious tomato relish that complemented the crispy bacon and well cooked egg.

The tea was nice but not as fragrant as some other teas I've had.

Eggs florentine & eggs Benedict were both delicious. The menu says the Benedict comes with ham but in actual fact it was bacon. Coffee (latte) was smooth & mild.

Could not decide what to eat and out of the 3 options I like I asked the waiter which 1 he would chose and said the gnocchi as he usually takes some home and everything is made on the premises. The gnocchi was a tad overcooked for me and I found the rugs too salty for my liking. The Rhubarb and Raspberry cake which was dairy free as I am lactose intolerant was very moist and I enjoyed it tremendously.

I travel for work every second week and always make an effort to come here for breakfast when I'm in Shepparton. The staff are attentive and friendly, the food is always amazing and the coffee brings me in every morning so that I can get going. Really recommend!!!
Branch Bacardi
The best place for coffee and brunch in Shepparton. Homemade baked beans recommended for breakfast and the Mexican wraps are great for a quick lunch. The place is always comfortable and the staff are friendly and efficient.

Came here on Mother's Day and whilst it was very busy and full the staff where right on top of everything. No long wait times and food was nice

I ate a warm grain salad with lamb and had a chai latte at fryers food store. I sat in a really nice indoor/outdoor area, and enjoyed my meal. I found the menu a little lacking, nothing really jumped out at me as a "must eat" though meals on other tables looked perfectly acceptable. I think it's a pretty good option for the area, and reasonably priced.

Quick service.... That's about it. Staff were okay. Reasonably priced. The spud pizza and the pasta bake were really bland and the gnocchi were just swimming in cream. The spuds on the pizza had no seasoning so maybe the other pizzas are nicer just commenting on my own experience.

Was driving through shep and Got a takeaway coffee here and the coffee is awesome! Thumbs up! Always great coffee whenever I come past. Great service too! 👍

Fantastic service and fantastic meal!!
One of the best mochas I've ever had!! Thanks for making my day! We will definitely be coming back to this gem!!

Best homemade fruit toast, can't go past it! Consistently great, perfectly tempered and local coffee. I recommend the falafel or lamb wrap for lunch, yum! The homemade cakes are wonderful and loafs of bread available to buy are beautiful too (I reccomend the olive bread). Don't worry, I have been here a few times, I didn't eat all of this in one sitting! :)

My favourite place for lunch in Shepp! Nice and simple but exceptional meals! Coffee is always amazing and sweets are to die for. Pizzas are great on weekends accompanied by a great selection of wines, again simple but always tasty! Not to mention a great setting. Always worth the occasional short wait staff issue - they are all polite and pleasant at least!

Easily the best in Shepparton. Food's great and reasonably priced, staff are fantastic. Coffee is ALWAYS of a great standard.

We have just eaten here and the food was delicious. The goulash was a little light in meat and a but heavy on potatoes but the flavour was great. Our guest had the mushroom risotto and it seemed to be the pick of the dishes. Great cellar from what I could see but unfortunately I was not in a state to trial the goods. Good choice from slim pickings.

Great food & coffee. Tick.. Have been here several times a week for breakfast while working in Shepparton and I have been super impressed every time. Service has been spot on, efficient and quick on every visit. Not the friendliest staff, but seriously do you really want to chat with your waitress? I'm there for the food and coffee and it's worth a visit.

Third time here for dinner and it gotten better every time . Great pizzas and a good wine list and lots of crafty beers. Love it

Awful service. Have been here 3 times, each time hoping the experience will be better but the service just gets worse and worse! Waitress' not interested in taking orders, waiting 20 minutes for a drink, I have even waited nearly half an hour for a takeaway piece of cake before!
The food itself is average and they frequently have multiple items from the menu not available (which they won't tell you until after you try and order them!) They also never seem to change the menu.
It's a potentially nice little café/restaurant its just a shame about the service!

Wood fire pizza here on weekend evenings is a treat. Great pizza. We were there with a group & were very well fed for $30 each. Very happy with the wine selection and service. Different atmosphere to daytime - maybe more relaxed? Some music but not too loud for easy conversations with dining companions. Great night out.

I'm having a real love hate relationship with this place. The service is generally appalling. There are two waitresses who look as if they hate their jobs. Actually, at times they can be downright rude, The waiter and the rest are quite warm and friendly.
The pizzas are very good but quite tiny. Their prawn pizzas are tasty but to have one or two prawns cut up into tiny morsels to give the impression of having more prawns......come on guys..... I wasn't born yesterday!! I have been to Italy and I know the authentic pizzas are not riddled with filling but you're taking that characteristic to the extreme. Go to 400 Gradi In Melbourne and check out their pizzas.
The coffee and desserts are generally great.
Overall there is something not quite right just yet. Here are my suggestions
- make your pizzas a little thicker and larger.
- a little more filling without losing that unique European angle ( not like the std pizzas that have too much filling)
- offer different size pizzas
- staff need to lighten up.
- offer pizzas more often
- the chicken wrap had mainly fat and gristle - had to throw it out. Very very stingy with meat.
Monitor your staff more closely owners. The vibe of this place needs to improve.
You don't want to come across as a low value for money restaurant.
Exceed the expectations of the customer and they will return.

Good atmosphere and food. Excellent cakes made on house. High standard of coffee. Service can be hit and miss but if you feel like you've been waiting too long just get up and ask. The food is worth it. Best bread in town.
Checked Out...
Sunday lunch, no issues with getting coffee and meals to table in 20min for party of three. Melbourne standard coffee a blessing

The antipasti is fresh & exciting & amazing value. The pizza was to die for (mmm blue cheese) and the service and tone of the restaurant was very deli but unpretentious. Thanks for a lovely experience!

Meagre lunch.. Lunch today 10th April .Very disasppointed in the meagre amount of meat served with their roast lamb and spinach salad- my daughter had three pieces only and I had six - which I shared with her - size of meat was miniscule. It was delicious in flavour and presentation excellent-but feel we were taken for a ride. My husband had the charcueterie which he said tasted delicious and it was presented well. Service was friendly and excellent as was their delicious coffee.

Bad Service. Ordered already prepared food (in the display cabinet) and coffee; received coffee after 5 minutes; waited half an hour for food ; finaly went and asked for it as i couldn't wait any longer. They have already filed the docket away! aparently that happens often. so paid for it to be a takeaway. while waiting for it to be heated in the microwave, another person came and asked me to poay again! very poorly run place; would not be going back again. Food is not good either

Great Value. Always fresh beautiful meals that are reasonably priced. Service could be a bit more friendly.

Yummy. Love the food here, when I am working in town, this is my go to place for lunch. Love it

My partner and I went to Fryers Street Foodstore for lunch on Sunday as we hadn't been there before. It wasn't at all busy but for some reason we waited for 20 minutes before my partner had to get up and ask for a bottle of water and some menus. About 10 minutes later our water and menus came. The food was ok, nothing special. Apparently ham cheese and tomato focaccias means just ham and cheese. The couple next to us had to ask us if the restaurant was table service or not. Then when we went in to pay the cashier was more concerned with other staff than payments. Overall, the staff were messy and unorganised. It would have been run better by monkeys.

Local favorite: great coffee and food served in a real cafe atmosphere

Newly opened and already very popular - salads, home made pies, quiches, wraps - the pumpkin, rocket, asparagus and beetroot salad is to die for. Great service and very hard to resist the gourmet produce and take home meals on your way out - all breads are made on the premises - the fruit and nut or olive sourdough are both divine and if purchasing a loaf on the way out, it will probably not make it home untouched - so delicious and tempting.
