Review Hoa Tran Cafe Restaurant - Springvale

S C
Popular dine in spot on the weekends. I was stunned at how fast the food comes out; the two dishes we ordered (combination egg noodles and sizzling plate beef) were on our tables in 5 mins! The food was authentic and delicious. Great vibe on a cold winter night and staff were hard working and attentive.

There were so many good Asian restaurants in Springvale, but Hoa Tran somewhat stood out. Serving a large range of Vietnamese/Asian meals, there were always so many to choose from and all of them looked so fresh and delicious. We ordered a few dishes; broken rice with pork chop, noodle soup, fried egg noodle and fried chicken, and were very satisfied with our selections. Service was pretty much non-existent however.

Lovely experience, portions are big as well if you have a small appetite. Good for sharing. Doesn’t exceed 18$ per person if you’re sharing the food! Yummmmmyyyy ✨✨

1st time having lunch here with my friends. She recommend me to try the salt & pepper fried fish, and it was delicious. Place is clean, price is affordable. Better eat here with group of friends or family as you can share and try other food. I'll be back

THIS. 🤩 This restaurant was simply oof. AMAZING. Everything was soooo well seasoned and soooo delicious!!! Highly recommend the CHICKEN RIBS. Super well seasoned with salt, pepper and garnish. Divine. The smell hits you before the chicken comes and when it actually arrives on your table - absolutely irresistible. Had the lemongrass beef dry pho thingy (sorry can’t rmb the name). The lemongrass beef was sooo well charred and cooked it was absolute YUMS. 100% must try

Fantastic com tam. Fantastic portions, delicious pork chop, cake and shredded pork. As with any Vietnamese restaurant though always fails to give me less rice when I ask, but that's not going to deduct any stars because it was yummy and the staff were very friendly!

It's been 10+ years since I've been here and it looks to still be going strong. We ordered takeaway due to covid restrictions and had the sweet and sour pork with tomato rice such a generous amount of pork and rice which were all nicely individually boxed. The pork is so crispy and paired so well with the sweet and sour sauce.

Hoa Tran is a bit of a legend in Springvale. It’s known for its great food and fast service but something was different when I ordered some takeaway recently. ☀️The sunny bits: My usual go to is their tomato rice with fried chicken but I had a craving for broken rice today. I also added a bun bo hue to my order. Service was efficient with everything being ready within 10 minutes. ☁️The cloudy bits: Unfortunately, the broken rice was a bit of a let down. The meat loaf and other accompaniments were disappointingly lifeless. The pork chop was slightly dry. The bun bo hue soup tasted very much like Penang laksa, which really confused my taste buds. ⭐️The forecast: I’m hoping I caught them on an off day so will definitely give them another go in the future.

Love the food, especially the soups and broken rice. We’ve been coming here for years and years. The place is always packed, which speaks volumes as most surrounding places are empty. The food is Vietnamese predominantly. Sunday early dinner on way to City for Book of Mormon was our last visit. Yummy. Thank you Andy.

The food is sooooo delicious and fresh and I recommend this place to everyone

Yum yum yum...The nicest food..very busy place but worth the wait

Too busy, too noisy. Don’t go upstairs as staff forget about you. Other than that the food is good.

The serving sizes here are incredible for the price that you pay and is perfect for when you want a cheap delicious meal. My go to order is the broken rice. I order it pretty much every time I come here and the quality has been consistently good - it's even more amazing when the pork chop comes out fresh and sizzling. I've also tried some other dishes such as the bun bo hue and vermicelli bowls, which have also been exceptional. There's always a line outside but the service is quick so the wait time isn't too long. I always leave here full and happy and would highly recommend to anyone craving authentic Vietnamese food!

Tucked away behind a multi-level just off the main Buckingham Ave strip, Hoa Tran is supposedly an institution of Springvale so I had to go check it out. The menu felt like it had at least 100 options, with every 3rd or so having a picture - I am personally all for this even though it will eliminate any possibility of a quick and easy decision. I went for the egg noodles and crispy chicken. It was simple but delicious - a succulent and healthy broth was the highlight, despite some excellent chicken. My friend went for a fairly standard beef pho and while it was not bad by any means, there was too much noodles and the beef parts were so-so - there are better pho options in Springvale. Definitely worth a visit and a well-frequented spot by locals for a reason.

Absolutely in love with the fried noodle and roasted chicken!!!always come back for that, also love their ice milk tea. Also the beef with macaroni is very tasty too, definitely worth a try. They have plenty of food on their menu which all look very tasty ;)

Great service, great tasting food at very reasonable prices for size and quality

Quite busy but food came out in exceptional time! Was delicious and good serving size. I had been craving broken rice and finally found a place that does it good and my husband got the BBH. I'll be back!

So we came here 4pm November 10th. We had a good time UNTIL the owner started yelling and cursing at his employees right in front of the customers. The food was nice, we loved it, but we don't want to see the employees being belittled and cursed, or in this embarassed right in front of the customers. He's Vietnamese, same with us so yeah we can understand what he said.

We visited this Vietnamese restaurant the other day with the family. The Bun Cha was very tasty and refreshing, although the fish sauce did get quite salty towards the end, making us quite thirsty. The Com Tam was delicious but we found that it was too rice-heavy - although the pork chop was super crispy and cooked very well, there was not enough pork to balance all of the rice. Otherwise a very delicious and affordable meal.

Bún (a bowl of Vietnamese vermicelli salad) is better than anywhere else. Pho (soups) and other dishes are very good too. Highly recommended.

I’ve been wanting to try this place out forever, finally gave ita go yesterday for lunch! We had Hoa Tran for lunch & dinner and lunch again today... lol it’s that good. Place is crowded and busy all the time BUT service is excellent and food comes out in 5 minutes 😱 Everything we’ve tried here so far are phenomenal. My new fave resto in Springvale for sure!
Minh Phan
very spacious and beautiful, the customer service was above standard. Food was pretty good but seemed that it was lacking some flavour
Clare Nguyen
This restaurant is overrated and really dirty. Food is super average, probably one of the worst in springvale.
Bear Noms
Vietnamese cafe with hundreds of variety of food to choose from, it was hard to pick which ones to have. We enjoyed the beef rice noodle which was delicious. We also got the hoa tran noodles which could’ve used more flavour and did not come with much meat. The imitation shark fin soup was salty and had a lot of crab clear shell. The Vietnamese coffee was strong and had a kick. We initially ordered the coffee less sweet but it was too bitter so had to get slightly more condensed milk. The avocado smoothie was decent.

4.5*
Ordered the tomato rice with sweet and sour pork, and the tomato rice with salt and pepper chicken. Both dishes came out quick and came out with a complimentary soup for each dish. The chicken was very crispy but a bit oily, and the sweet and sour pork had a nice crispy batter. Their menu is very very extensive if you’re looking for a variety of authentic vietnamese dishes.

The food here is exceptional

This place was packed inside, so you know the food turnover is good .
The menu is very long and extensive , so many options to choose from .
I chose the tomato rice because everyone was having it, and the fried rice, along with the spring rolls and stir fried prawns.

Everything was done OK. but nothing stood out , the tomato rice was bland and deceptive in flavour by its looks.

Luckily the value for money is excellent as you get a large amount of food for a reasonable price.

Best thing about the melbourne winter is how good a quality bowl of classic grilled chicken vietnamese phò goes down 👌 lets not argue pronunciations, just have a bowl and let your heart call it whatever it wants 😊❤ local traditional vietnamese restaurant hoa tran have always been a go-to for my fix. $10 bowl of absolute goodness. 7/10 for taste, great portions (definitely fill the tank) and a cheap eat 👌

Pretty average food. Seasoning was on the lighter side.
For a vietnamese restuarant I would also like to see some form of fish sauce with the fried goodies!
Non existent table service (it would be nice for the waiter to place the dish towards the center rather than plunking it just on the side and walking off). Floors look like they havent had a decent clean in a while.
A good place for a quick, no fuss meal but dont expect fire works.
This restaurant is always busy. They have a long menu with some good dishes. Even tho the restaurant looks dark inside. I dont like the staff there but still come for their food.
Stella
best vietnamese restaurant! ordered the vegetarian bùn and def the best i've had - just something about their flavours that go so well together. definitely my go-to when i'm craving vietnamese food!!

Was there on Sunday for lunch 1st time visit. The menu contained a combination of Chinese & Vietnamese. Staff where friendly. it was a full house. I had the satay chicken with steamed rice, was delicious. Jasmine tea is included for free with all meals. great value for money. will definitely be back and highly recommend

Generous servings, tasted pretty delicious.
Did give me acid reflux for the first and only time in my life, though. Not sure if my fault or the food's.

Firstly, there’s a HUGE variety of Vietnamese food at this restaurant. Realised I didn’t take photos of all the food we had.. but that just means I’ll be back when I’m around the area. It’s a struggle to find parking at Springvale. But the food makes it worth it.
Whether it’s broken rice, pho or bun the food that gets served up is generally yummy!

Summary: Vietnamese restaurant with the menu variety, efficiency and seating capacity of a Chinese restaurant. Crazy fast, great quality, not too expensive either.

Ordered an egg noodle dish, came out with rice noodle. My grandma complained to the manager and asked for what she ordered and was told to eat it, otherwise it just goes down the trash. Not the first time this has happened to my grandma, and it’s not like there are any language barriers since they speak the same language. When taking orders, the staff don’t slow down and write what customers are ordering correctly and rush to serve more people; a quantity over quality service. Their custard apple smoothie and stir fried beef with rice noodle are both really good though. We are disappointed mainly with the customer service when we have been frequent visitors of this establishment for the past 15 years. Service has been poor recently, and to evade responsibility for serving something that was not ordered really gives us a bad feeling. Couldn’t enjoy the meal at all.

I have been meaning to write about this gem for a long time so here I go. This is our family favourite for past 10 years. I have now two girls who immensely enjoy visiting this little gem and smashing their favourite salt and pepper spicy chicken with rice noodles every single time we visit. The food is always top notch and the service super fast. The usual items we usually gorge are spring rolls, double pork chop with broken rice, flame grilled chicken with rice, salt and pepper spicy chicken with tomato rice (my regular item), dry rice noodles with flame grilled chicken (the accompanying soup is just too good).
I am giving 4 ONLY because of the broken crockeries we get our food served on. I know it is not a big deal but I do hope they take this feedback on board and make changes.
Guys-if you are in/near Springvale, do not miss this place. Make sure you turn up early to avoid the long queue they usually get.

Came here for a work gathering with large group. Sat upstairs and seating was a bit squishy. The broken rice was very good and price was economical!

I have not had a bad dish at this place! Traditional authentic Vietnamese food. Heaps of items on the menu, can't go wrong with any choice. If anything the restaurant is quite loud but it's genuine and the staff are usually very friendly
Karen
My go to vietnamese restaurant in Springvale. Authentic, no fuss restaurant which serves you quickly with no idle chatter. It's loud and raucous but that's to be expected as it's so busy.

I had the combination rice vermicelli noodles, fresh crunchy salad, crispy spring roll and assortment of meats topped with a delightfully spicy, sweet and and sour sauce. All for the affordable price at $14.50. It was the most expensive in its category.

This place will always be my go to when ever I’m having an Asian food craving but don’t know exactly what I want. My 4 star rating is purely based on quality tasting of the food. Must try if you in springvale area :)

Not taking into account service, cleanliness and ambiance.
Melbourne Food Spotter
One of the finest asian food restaurants in Springvale! Hoa Tran provides you with authentic asian dishes, with a wide variety on there menu there food is absolutely delicious and of the highest quality! The steamed rice was perfect and done so it's not too dry and texture was amazing and the chicken I had ordered was coated in the beautiful sweet and sour sauce that gave it a beautiful taste. If your looking for authentic asian dishes then Hoa Tran is perfect for you.
Forwang Li
Quality unpretentious Viet food. Usually quite packed but once you get a table service is quite prompt. Com Tam was good, pork chop was tender, and had all the trimmings you expect on the broken rice.
Jo N
Friend and I both tried the Bun Bo Hue here. It was okay but not amazing. Broth lacked spice and flavour so we found it quite bland. Have had a better bbh elsewhere.

Springvale is really good place for Asian food, love this suburb. But I don’t come here often just for food, this time I searched on Zomato , this restaurant came third in Vitaminese food, which has 4.3 star, my wife and I decided to give it a go today in an off peak hour. I ordered the peaking duck, to be honest, it was a little bit salty in my taste, I drank a lot of water while having it, the meat was okay... a little dry. Satay Chicken Skewers was a big NoNo, I regretted ordered it, such waste of money, taste blend, the sauce contains way too much peanut butter. My wife ordered 136, forgot what was it called, the dish came in with a broken bowl(see from the picture), serving in a such dangerous bowl... I don’t know what they were thinking. But at least the soup is delicious, she also said that the fried wonton was nice, I totally agreed, this might be the only dish we both liked. Their menu has a lot of options to pick from, for a person born in Libra, which has difficulty picking and making decisions, it took me a lot of time deciding what to eat haha, but it’s just me , for those people like big menus, I actually do recommend this place. But for someone like me, I rather go somewhere else.
PK
It’s over rated, the food is good, some of the dishes very oily, the portion is large, really bad atmosphere, noisy and staff very pushy, just want you out of the door as soon as you finish your meal and pay bill !
CerealKiller
Cant stop coming here! Super fast service with not only the staff but the food as well. Fixes any asian food cravings you have as they offer Chinese, Vietnamese and Cambodian food. my favourite go to are their spring rolls and the Bun Bo Hue.

This restaurant is always a go-to in Springvale when we are looking for a cheap but worthwhile meal with big servings. They have quick service with 2 floors of seating and a wide variety of foods. Most of the time there is a queue however the wait shouldn’t be over 10-15 minutes.

Accepts EFT

Food: 4/5
Good flavours, satisfactory presentation
Foods Ordered:
- Chicken Spare Ribs with Tomato Rice: 5/5
- Banh Canh: 3/5

Service: 2.5/5
Slightly under staffed, felt quite rushed but food was brought out quite fast

Ambience: 2.5/5
Cleaner than most other Springvale Viet Restaurants, but still quite messy and squashed. Menu’s and tables quite sticky and dirty - not cleaned properly.

Parking: 4/5
Easy to find in multi level but not free parking

Price: $

Overall Rating: 3.75/5
In my view - it is the "Best Vietnamese" in Springvale - even though Springvale is full of Vietnamese restaurants..

Mostly packed, you need to queue, which moves quick enough and absolutely worth the wait!

Favorite dishes:
- Lemongrass and chilly Chicken with egg noodles
- Vermicelli (various) / BUN
- Double Pork Chop with broken rice
- Avocado smoothie

Not to say - you can't go wrong with any of the other dishes too..

This place was a bit tricky to find but when we got there we managed to get seats pretty quickly. It’s a busy place & the food coming of the kitchen looking very appetizing. We ordered salt n pepper prawns with tomato rice & beef with flat noodles. We also ordered a side of spring rolls & fresh coconut juice. The serving sizes were quite big & we left content. Huge menu selection so will definitely be coming back to try other items. The older lady who took our payment at the end was very rude which is why I give this a 4 rating.
Tessa
Used to be the go to place in springvale as it has everything you'd want in a Vietnamese restaurant. Every dish is filling and comes out super fast. Staff are efficient but there can be a language barrier. So much variety now so wouldn't really make this my go to place anymore.
Vivian Tan
Luckily we are early, there’s a queue lining up while we were eating. I had the rice vermicelli and the portion is huge. Food itself not bad while the special spicy beef vermicelli soup my dad had was nicer.
Vicnifer's Food Reviews
Thanks for the many meals! TLDR: Go to Vietnamese restaurant in Melbourne - will continue to update this review.

Ordered almost all the dishes on the menu (the menu is massive). This will be a progressive review of Hoa Tran as a true fortnightly regular. When you go to Hoa Tran you know what you are getting. Consistent authentic Vietnamese food that that is provided promptly and with polite service. Each dish may not be the best in its class (except the "com tam dac biet" in my opinion) but they are all above average. As such, Hoa Tran is often known as the "go to Vietnamese food" in Melbourne and hence it MUST be given a 5 star overall rating.

To the food! Disclaimer - comments made from the food are coming from a reviewer that is also Vietnamese and hence has a 'Vietnamese palate'

1. 8/10 - Dry noodle soup with prawn and pork - (this dish can be ordered dry or with soup). This time opted for the dry version and rice noodles which comes with a side of soup. The dish looks very simple and is perfect when you do not want anything too heavy. Despite this when you dig in you realise that the complexity comes textually with 3 different cuts of pork (sliced, minced and pork on the bone), crispy prawn crackers and greens combined with the hot soft al dente cooked rice noodles. Goes excellent with some extra lemon for added tang.

2. 7/10 - Flamed grilled chicken and vermicelli and salad. Also added some spring rolls to the dish as well. If you want something fresh tasting then this is it. Plenty of different greens perfectly pair with the grilled salty chicken. The flavour is combined well when the fish sauce is added which is not too garlicky which I prefer. I think the appeal of this dish comes with the contrast between the hot grilled chicken with the colder vermicelli noodles and salad. Normally when I have this dish this is present but this time unfortunately the chicken felt cold this time

3. 9/10 - dry rice noodles with crispy skin chicken. This staple dish is done well here with super juicy fried chicken that is not too oily. The noodles were nice hot and steamy with adequate bite to them.

Note keep an eye of this review and further edits as I continue to add more dishes with photos!
LoveEatLoveCook
One of the best Vietnamese restaurant in Springvale. Quick service and the food were super yum and reasonably priced. Pork chop is my favorite, well marinated, full of favor and always consistent. Expect a bit of wait as it is always busy.
Gee
We were out Springvale way and wanted some good Vietnamese eats. Settled on this place based on its Zomato rating. The spring rolls were really good - juicy and golden brown. The fried rice portion was huge as was the satay chicken.
Nanabana
The GO-TO place for a quick BIG serving of meal at a reasonable price! My favourite dish here is the combination stir fried rice noodles. Very loud place, fast-paced and rushed, so if you’re looking for some social dining, don’t expect it to be a friendly place for this purpose.
Defiant
Came just before 2:30pm on a Saturday and it was busy but we were still able to get a table.

First time here so ordered beef and beef ball pho and it was pretty good. The beef balls seem to be a higher standard than other places. Picture shows a large plate of bean shoots for 2 pho. Fresh chilli was nice and hot.

Soup was flavoursome. Could have been a bit hotter but overall pretty good. Will come back and try the rices.
Pam Emmert
OMG, OMG, OMG!!! Best pho I have every eaten and will not have it anywhere else. Its all I order and I never get through the giant bowl full. I often order one to take away at the same time. Very prompt seating and delivery of food. Its always busy but you never have to wait long and if you do, its worth it. Great prices and very friendly staff. Atmosphere makes you feel like you've travelled overseas to some busy little Asian restaurant but without the price tag!
Liz Mackie
Tasty well priced food. Very generous portions, Don't order entrees at the same time as mains as they will bring then all at the same time!VERY IMPORTANT: The restaurant is situated at the rear of Springvale Road accessed via Balmoral Ave off Springvale Road.
This would have been very helpful to know
Grunta
Took ages to find,
BECAUSE it's BEHIND Springvale Rd, down a service lane.
There was a line outside, on a cold Friday night..

It was worth the wait, but it's hectic in here. !!!
Pho was nice, I'll be back

Old 2 bad things,
1. you can feel the people outside eyes boring into you .... " Hurry up - I want to get in" .... 😱
2. Toilet needs fixing
Willtravelforfood17
Love the variety of food you can get on the menu. My usual eat here is the broken rice: a very generous serve of rice, grilled chicken chop, ham, glass noodles, salad and a sunny side up egg with a gooey yolk. Dump the nuoc nam sauce on top and you have a very tasty dish. Seating is a little cramped and the floors aren’t very clean but otherwise good food.
Eliza James
They have everything you'd want on the menu for a Vietnamese restaurant. Not amazing but always a good and safe choice to go to. I usually go for the rice dishes. Soup dishes I'd rather go elsewhere in springvale
Sunny Days Melbourne
The best thing about Hoa Tran is their prompt service. Order anything and it magically appears within minutes regardless of how busy they are.
Their food is pretty spectacular too and I have a soft spot for their tomato rice with fried chicken. Today, though, we ordered a few hawker dishes and they were all of a generous size, packed full of flavour.
It's no wonder this place is always bustling and packed to the rafters!
Mr Need To Eat
Busy place with a great menu to choose from. Portion size is very generous. We had three dishes. Vegetables were fresh and crisp, meat was good quality and food had good flavours.
Ash
I had no idea that Hoa Tran existed until a friend brought me here a few weeks’ ago and I was amazed at how popular and busy this place was!

Food is your typical Vietnamese fare- pho, broken rice, vermicelli noodles and they’re all cheap and cheerful. The upper level of the restaurant is a bit cleaner and more nicely decorated than the ground level but it doesn’t appear to be any ‘dirtier’ than other local restaurants in the area. There’s so many items on the menu here it’s a good idea to come with an empty stomach and an open mind!
Jess
This place is good if youre in a hurry. Food usually comes out within five minutes. Other than that, I find this place quite unhygienic. Had their bun Bo hue and felt like I needed to drink a gallon of water afterwards
Hungry Little Dinosaur
Consistently serving big portions of comfort food for years. Always reliable and super speedy delivery of food, although very busy at times. Can not fault the food but the toilets could be a lot cleaner.
Usagi
We walked in for late lunch around 3PM. The second floor was dimly lit (see how dark the photos are?). Interior... erm basic. We were served complimentary green tea which was lovely fragrant, using mismatched cups. Food was unimpressed. Service was okay, a bit on the cold side. I was strongly reminded of the roadside eateries that we would stop at for rest and meal during day trips back in Vietnam; where they serve a lot of things but nothing excels. Maybe we didn’t click the right menu?
David Chen
This place is always famous and crowded. The food here is good and have a great quantity which can make you full easily. Price is neutral. Quality is nice
Chester
Refurbished and revived, Hao Tran had their interiors made over slightly but have been providing the same food and service that customers grew to love over the years. With a casual ambiance and with staff quick on their feets, Hao Tran delivers orders quickly, their portions are generous and their meals are well cooked and full of flavour.
Mad Dawg
No frills no fuss restaurant. Been here multiple times. Food comes out with ridiculous speed. Food on a whole is always on point. Today i ordered the crispy chicken with tomato rice. Texture of the chicken was spot on. The only downside is the cleanliness of the tables etc.
Fin
For a quick dinner to satisfy those Viet taste buds, this is definitely one of the go to places. As a Viet girl who basically grew up in the Springvale restaurants I can say that the food never disappoints (just make sure you choose their Viet dishes not the Chinese dishes)! Some of my favorites are the spring rolls, broken rice and the pork and egg noodles.
Jennifer
Legit the best Asian food place I’ve been to. I come here at least once a week and I will never get sick of doing so. All their food tastes amazing, and everything is affordable. Highly recommended 10/10 👌
Bak Kwa
Been coming here for many years. Good food. Fast service. Love their Chicken spare ribs with tomato rice. Broken rice is very nice too. Quality of food is consistent every time.
Sarah Gordon
It had been recommended I try this place a good spot for vermicelli salad in Springvale. In general I was just looking for good food and Hoa Tran did not disappoint! In a busy Tuesday lunch hour we tried or luck here and where seated within seconds after entering, they were flying through people and most of which locals which was promising. After a long browse of the menu as there were so many options and so many tasty looking and smelling dishes around us I though best to come and get the chicken vermicelli noodle salad after a good review. Food was super quick to come out and all veggies and topping fresh and crunchy. The accompanying sauce did the trick on the noodles and I can’t help myself with the chilli oil on the table which packed a good punch and gave me what I was after. Large servings and friendly staff with a huge menu to work our way through so will definitely be coming back.
Good idea like most places in the area to bring cash as there is a surcharge for card
Little Noms
Had the beef pho for $12, which comes in one size unless you choose to upsize. Portion was large and filling & service is friendly and quick, only downside is you may need to wait for seats during peak time
Jony Kang
I have been coming steadily for over ten years. Sometimes it is so delicious and some days it is weird ... But generally I eat with satisfaction. Strangely, the staff here seldom laugh. Sometimes it's a little scary.
Gracie
Must order dish, tasty and light. Casual family friendly restaurant, most dishes are of good quality and at reasonable price. Nice place to visit when you dont know what to get in springy
Munchie Master
Food was amazing! Great quality, flavorsome and generous servings. Nice and spacious upstairs and downstairs areas. All three mains were served within 10 minutes of ordering. Prices were a bit expensive.
James Chiu
Broken rice, chicken ribs with rice, fried chicken with red rice, you name it are great Vietnamese dishes at Hoa Tran.

This restaurant has been around for years and has had a loyal and dedicated customers which explains why the food is tasty.

I've tried a number of their dishes and love it. The reason why I wouldn't give this place a 5 is bc the food is oily and the drinks are way too sweet.

If you're ever in Springvale definitely drop by.
Shish, The Foodie
The most delicious Vietnamese food you can find in Melbourne! There is often a queue if you go at peak hours, but they have lots of space and a very fast and efficient service so the wait is not long. It’s a cheap Asian eatery, so no one will pamper you there - but you can expect basic level of service. The only negative about this place is that if you go right after peak time, when their first round of dishes are washed and ready to be dried, you will experience a hell of a noise of a few staff drying cutleries and throwing them on top of each other at the speed of light (hence the noise) right in the middle of the dining hall in front of customers!! I wonder if they could transfer this noisy job back stage! Anyway, the food is sooo good that you will put up with such nuisances :-) I highly recommend lemongrass chilli beef/chicken stir fry on rice - burst of flavour - literally!!
@foodtom
Authentic vietnamese restaurant!
I enjoy their classic broken rice and pho. But their drinks are sugary, they add sugar in already sweet drink which obviously tasted too sweet to drink.
What a fast paced atmosphere, service is prompt and food is good for the price!
Sim Sim
Possibly the best Vietnamese food in Melbourne. This place is always busy, the service is fast and the food is fresh. If staff aren’t waiting tables they are busy making dumplings and spring rolls. I’ve been eating here at least once a week for the past 2 years and never had a bad meal. The prices are great and the servings generous.
Chris
Fantastic service and great quality food served with generosity. I had the bun dac biet which is vermicelli served with the lot and they even included nem chua (cured meat, not usually served with this dish ) which was a nice surprise! Would love to come back again, if only they were closer!
Kat_Eats_Mel
Used to be good back in the days. Now food is average at best. Service is fast but can be pushy at times because time is money. Tables are always wet and smells like they really change their wiping cloths lol Better restaurants in the area.
JacZ
I frequent this restaurant with family and friends. Taste is never a let down, and oh service is great! Once you order food gets served in 5 minutes!
Only let down is that the restaurant is cramped and very noisy.
The Judgey Barista
Honestly as someone who is a major foodie. This one of the best restaurants in Melbourne for Vietnamese food. It may not be the prettiest restaurant with harp music in the background and ambiance. Food: 🌟🌟🌟🌟
What a great local establishment. We ordered the broken rice and egg noodles with roast duck and crispy chicken. Yum! We loved the broken rice dish, it was simple food done well. The egg noodle soup was also enjoyable and the sides were 👌.

Service: 🌟🌟🌟🌟
Fast service and we did not need to wait long to be served.

Price: 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
Very well priced with good portion sizes.
FAST Food Review: Hoa Tran in Springvale

Food: Still my number one favourite Vietnamese spot. Shredded Pork and Spring Roll Vermicelli Salad is repeatedly my top dish to order, perfect combo of fresh vegetables and tasty meat. Beef Pho Noodles Soup, Pork Chop with Broken Rice, Lemongrass Chicken rice and Tomato rice with Crispy Chicken are the other best dishes to consider. - 4.5/5

Ambience: Always busy and packed, you feel the buzz as if you were eating in downtown Saigon or Da Nang eatery. - 3/5

Service: Pretty decent for a busy Asian restaurant. - 3.5/5

Total: 11.5/5

Top Tip: Order the Prawn and Pork rice paper rolls for your entree and 3 Colour beans jelly and coconut drink or Vietnamese drip coffee to compliment your meal.

#vietnamese #coffee #springvale #restaurant #food #pork #spring #roll #busy #best #prawn #drink #soup #salad #beef #rice #noodle#buzz #saigon #danang #asian

First stop for Comi’s local food adventures and we were impressed. A little hard to find but a note that the shop front is behind Springvale road. Nevertheless a hidden gem, good service and value. Extensive menu.
We tried the vegetarian spring rolls & bbq pork for entree, sizzling chicken in pepper sauce (yum), rare beef pho & fried rice for mains. All very good, the pho was a little underwhelming as the meat was tough but we still ate most of it! Looking forward to visiting again soon! Comi’s x

Cheap prices and prompt service with a large menu to suit the whole family’s cravings. My favourites are the broken rice and vermicelli spring roll salad. Always a reliable feed.

food was terrible. bland and not cooked properly. waited outside for way too long. as the staff had no system on who was next to fet a table. they just picked and chose randomly who got the bext table. ridiculous.

Our regular local. Can’t go wrong! Don’t expect a quiet dinner. It’s more of an in and out eat quickly place.
Had the beef pho, not bad. Better phos in Springvale. Still good. Double pork chop with broken rice. Their grilled chicken with vermicelli noodles is tasty too. crisp chicken with tomato rice is good too
Friendly service makes for a great quick and cheap eat.
Great experience!! Always busy.

The portion is really decent. We came here for family-like dinner and were really satisfied with the sizing of the dishes, as well as the freshness and flavours of the food. Will definitely come here often if I stay nearby

Came here on a Monday night and it was pretty busy with people coming into the restaurant and waiting for a table even when we were leaving. My combination fried rice noodles was served up quite quickly with a small wait on my partner's dish. While our dishes were nice the restaurant was noisy and takes a 2% surcharge on card payments. At least it's not cash only. Will sample some other dishes on my next visit.

The holy grail of Springvale, look no further if you need something quick, cheap, convenient & tasty. Whether it is the MSG or not, I don't even want to know; the quality of the food can not be overlooked & honestly as much as I've tried to dislike Hoa Tran (my mate used to own a restaurant next door) the standard of their dishes will have you coming back. I think the service could do with a little bit of emphasis but I guess you pay for what you get.

The pho was great, i enjoyed it and serving size generous too. The soup did not feel like it was MSG loaded. Vermicelli salad and pork chop on rice was not bad.

Absolutely delicious dishes with great service. It was very packed when I came but they managed to get us seats. Extensive menu with so many dishes to choose from and the wait staff were very attentive and the wait was not that long. We may have been slightly bias about how awesome the dishes were because we were so hungry but I absolutely loved it. Delicious dishes, fast and friendly service, extensive menu and large portions for low prices. It only cost 6 people 70$. Would come back for sure!

The place is famed for flame grilled chicken. Portions are big, cheap and good. The pho' and seafood noodles are great too. I've tried it's seafood soup crab noodles which was tasty but bit starchy and I don't see any crab meat.

Nice dinner with friends. Big servings and yummy Asian dishes. Don't called the duck though. Not worth it, the rest are more Chinese taste than Vietnamese. However the Vietnamese dishes liked the pho or rice..still not bad. I feel they have different chefs for the stired fried and the simple Vietnamese fare. Worth a visit.
Food Is Life
Used to be a great spot now it’s a dump. The table stinks for them using the same cloth. The dishes and cutlery are dirty. My food had not only one but two pieces of hair stuck inside. All the did was take the dish to the back and bring th exact same out just with the hairs gone. The only decent thing is the beef pho that I had however the meat tasted like plastic. If you want quality this is not the place to go. There are so many better authentic restaurants in Springvale that will give you better service for less than the price.

I just dont like the food here. Ive been here so many times due to the fact that most my friends enjoy this restaurant. I just have never had a dish that kept me wanting more. I feel like they have too many dishes on their menu so the end result of each dish is just meh

I’ve unfortunately had to edit my review of this place. I’ve loved it for so long and was a regular customer but tonight was a really really disappointing experience and I will not be returning after being a long term loyal customer. I brought 2 friends with me and after talking it up, 1 of my friends ordered a dish and when he received it he said to me oh this isn’t what I ordered. Took us 5 mins to call the waiter over and we told him it was wrong and the waiter got quite aggressive at us and yelled NO THIS IS WHAT YOU ORDERED, after explaining and pointing to the menu and saying no we ordered the one on top but we received the one underneath the waiter kept being aggressive raising his voice saying pretty much we can order another meal but we still have to pay for the wrong one. It wasn’t getting anywhere so I had to step in and unfortunately state (and put my friends religion in the spot light) and say I’m sorry but he didn’t order the pork because he is Muslim and doesn’t eat pork. As soon as I said that the waiter huffed and said no not wrong but I take this for you and walked off with the wrong meal. Then came back and asked us numerous times (angrily) on which meal we wanted a replacement for and wasn’t happy about it. At the end we paid (made sure we didn’t pay for the wrong meal) and we also apologised to the lady for making the waiter angry.
Mistakes and miscommunication happens and whether it was ours or the waiters fault it doesn’t matter but gives no excuse to get aggressive and pissed off at your paying customers when we were extremely polite.
Will not return after being a long coming customer who travels a long way just for this place.

This Viet/Cambodian joint is located behind the main road and next to the multi-level carpark. Always busy during lunch time so try to get there early. Food are nice and cheap! The flame-grill chicken is juicy and tasty. The noodles have nice chewy texture to it. Highly recommend if you come by springvale!
