Tasty Beef Pho, lots of flavour in the broth, quick service! Mango smoothies very good and cheap
Delicious pho at a good price. Service is always on point too, fast and hardworking servers. We love coming here as it has something for the whole family, whether it's pho, rice or other delicious Vietnamese/ Asian treats! Love it!
I have been going to the soup diet. No not really but I have been having a lot of soups. Must have something to do with Melbournes weather. This was a really good Pho and hit the spot.
3.5
This is always my go-to place in Springvale simply because the restaurant is quite spacious, staff are lovely and the food is nice. Side note, make sure to try their tea! It always has a nice pandan fragrance to it which is really unique and soothing.
I ordered their bun rieu this time, which was just okay. I was a little let down by the quality of the soup as it lacked substance, it was really just salt and water. I also ordered the three colour drink, which never fails to please :)
Been here so many times you can sort of separate the safe reliable dishes from the rest. If you want good pho this ain't it, next door does that. What I/we come for here is their bun bo hue, flavourful broth with lots of chilli and lemongrass, bump it up with fresh chillies. There's also a mixture of meats floating around from the beef and pork varieties. I'd love it when my friends pass me their pork knuckles, nice and gelatinous.
It is one of a few restaurants in Springvale that is consistently packed but they also see overflow traffic from Pho Hung Vuong 2. Don't veer too far off from the mainstream Vietnamese dishes or you might be disappointed.
This Is Definitelty my to go place for Pho plus you cant fo wrong with the spring rolls yum and very close to home. They have a wide range of selection you can choose from, their sizzling plates are also quite tasty. My Partner and myself dont go anywhere else. Their service is very good and prompt and you definitely get the value of money here.
Delicious!!
Visited this place a number of times. I went on 22/10/2017.
I had #137 ......... just sensational. Good street food.
Price: spot on
Service: quick and friendly
Taste: fantastic!
A great place to visit if you around Springvale.
Great place to eat especially if your on a budget. I have been here several times and I have never been dissapointed and the prices are amazing for the serving size. Service is quick and friendly too.
This joint would have to be my favourite Vietnamese restaurant in Springvale. What I love about Pho Dakao Hoang is it strikes a perfect balance, they're consistently busy enough that the food is always fresh, but not so busy that I feel like they rush the food. There's about 200 items on the menu, but somehow most if not all are done well. Pictured is the lemongrass beef with tomato rice, although it was a touch too salty overall it was really tasty and satisfying. I can also highly recommend the Vietnamese pancake!
Fantastic restaurant! Just really solid and delicious all around! From the spring rolls, to my beloved 3 colour drink. I was particularly impressed with this fried calamari we had! It was so tender and delicious :) and such good prices (i love springvale! :D). And good service too! One of my fav places for vietnamese food in springvale now :)
I ordered rice dishes because there is a famous Vietnamese noodle restaurant nearby. Then, I enjoyed Grilled pork chop with broken rice and Diced beef stir-fried with red rice. These were delicious and served quickly. It was disappointing that a waiter was rude and without smiling, and the share plate he brought was quite wet.
This is a regular for us, we love the spicy ribs on noodles, and the beef on tomato rice! We have found it to be clean and fast. Perfect for a quick lunch or dinner
LIT!: Been here many times and always receive quick customer service and generally decent food. Saw the owner heard him asking other tables if they need anything and making the tables appear more presentable. It's nice to see a hard working owner.
NOT SO LIT: instead of sticking to the broken rice here, I tried the "bun Rieu" in which very little meat was given and the crab mince was stuck together but flavour still pulled through
Thanks for having us! X
DO: The pho and the broken rice with pork chop.
DON'T: Be afraid to try something else. The menu has a lot of photos so just point and order. Very easy.
TIP: Don't be intimidated. Just walk in, tell him how many people and eat like a local.
First time here in a few years.. Wanted to try some other pho places in Springvale after having pho for years at the same places (Pho Hung, Hung Vuong, Chu Le etc).. Pleased with this place. Nice and clean. Had a Large Special Beef and it was actually quite good. Size wise.. Huge! Definitely the biggest in Springvale and significantly larger than other places' large servings. Broth good.. Decent amount of noodles and meat. Recommended.
I like coming here to get my bun bo hue fix which is a beef and pork noodles with chilli based soup, it's probably the best one I can find in Springvale. I also like getting the vermicelli with spring rolls, bun Cha Gio which is also another great choice. This place gets quite busy but the wait for a table isn't that long, maybe 5-10 minutes.
Have been coming here for over 15 years. This place has never disappointed me. Tasty food, tasty dishes. I generally order the Pho Da Bi Lo (combination chicken, beef & seafood) or Bun Bo Hue (spicy vermicelli). Rice dishes are ok probably not their best. Their specialty are the soup base dishes.
I seen some negative reviews. To be honest I haven't really had a bad experience here
I only tried pho and quite impress on how clean the broth, not too much msg, nice and quick service. But, i didnt like the way the boss treat their staff, quite rude i think
Not bad in the area and more comfortable seatings compare to others. Slightly cleaner as well
Soup was good and stir fry not too bad. Good for family eating.
Always get a great feed and good service for a reasonable price.
Best prawn spring rolls, always fresh seafood and never leave still feeling hungry!
Typical Asian service. Love the food here. Been visiting for yonks, the food is consistently good and the service consistently bad. Oh and they're cash only but there's an ATM in the restaurant if you don't have any cash on you.
Like many other restaurants in Springdale, Pho Dakao sells cheap, authentic and yummy Vietnamese food. And as you would expect the service is quite bad, staff are not particularly polite and they did not apologise for forgetting our order.
Although I didn't feel like they were outstanding compared to other similar restaurants in the area, overall their food is really yummy and good value compared to other Vietnamese restaurants in Melbourne.
Have a try when the next door of restaurant is closed. Tonne of varieties foods. Like their light and authentic Vietnam foods. Waiter and waitress are friendly and good services.
Love the fresh sliced beef pho at this place, it's always consistently delicious and the meat is so tender. Great portion sizes too, especially for the price, it's always a struggle to finish the bowl...which is exactly what I want! Have brought a few people here and they all rave about the beef pho too!
Having had a stressful week whereby I was really under the pump for time whilst not feeling well, I ate rather poorly throughout the week. Just about 90% of what I ate gave me tummy spasms which made it difficult to sleep for a few nights. I have recovered heaps since then and was so excited at the prospect of eating properly again. I missed enjoying my food without having to worry about it making me feel nauseous and celebrated by feasting in Springvale.
Good quality pho and the spring rolls are pretty nice as well. Food comes out really fast which is always a plus. Note that it can get pretty crowded at peak times
So cheap and so tasty! Don't expect anything fancy - just great pho for dirt cheap prices. Their other noodle and rice dishes are quite good too, but nothing beats a warm bowl of beef pho on a cold Melbourne day!
Send me in with a wheelbarrow because I struggle walking out of this place after a feed....typical Springvale restaurant, busy, fast paced and your going to struggle to find a clean table, but that's why we love it😉 This place has the best prawn crackers in town.... yep I went there, they are the bomb!! The spicy salt and pepper tofu is delicious and they make the best pho in Springtown in my opinion :) enjoy the 200 long menu people 😊
This is my go to restaurant for anything Vietnamese. I come here all the time and this place never disappoints. I have had many dishes here, and their broken rice and bun bo hue is the best I have had so far. Considering it being an asian restaurant, the service is very good.
Even though they are named as a pho restaurant, I rarely come here for pho. My mum did introduce me to their chicken pho though. A bit different to most places, they use a mix of older bird meat and the younger ones so you get a variation in the texture and taste. It has been a while, I hope they still have that. I tried my first Bun Bo Hue here and they do a very decent version. Like many of the long time Vietnamese restaurants in Springvale, their menu is extensive and most things are good. Would not hesitate to come back, it's just that there are too many other delicious options around!
Well quite surprised drove past this place when in springy last time
So tonight we went got there nearly at 8 Ish place was pumping anyway 5-10 wait glad we did
Ordered pretty well straight away entrees tools little to arrive but all good
Mains took a tad longer but all good don't like rushing through meals
Tasty and nice will def be back for another crack
2 entrees main meal rice 2 x byo 50 bucks walked out happy
We have been coming here for the last 13years and its one of our favorites. The fresh sliced beef soup is one of our favorites to order. If you like vietnamese food then this is a place to visit.
A popular Vietnamese restaurant. Fast and efficient service. Great food. Reliable. Food at affordable prices. One of the best in Springvale. Seating can be a bit cramped. A bit stuffy especially in Summer
Went to Dakao in Springvale, ordered the hainanese chicken and rice, when it was brought out, didn't really think much of it cause it was boiled chicken on the bone however they got all the flavors correct. I asked them why they don't give pieces of chicken without the bones, they said it's loss of flavour if they do it that way which i agree. I also ordered the 3 colour drink, it was exactly how i like it, coconut milk with red beam, mung bean and the delicious green noodle jelly, not sure how the other Springvale restaurants do it but Dakao has it correct. Overall great place
I always get the bun no hue and spring rolls ! Do not expect good service let alone any at all tho
Cheapie but a goodie!. One of my all time favourite places for a cheap eat that never disappoints! The springrolls are amazing and so is the bun bau hue! Must tries!
Best broken rice in melbourne! Pho is also incredible here.
Beats box hill and Richmond pho hands down!
I love pho, the soup base here is yummy, servings are huge and they are generous in giving us our slice beef and beef balls! We had plenty! Was so delicious! And all for $9! :D
Bad service... Always busy. But food is tasty and usually consistent. Best restaurant in Springvale and I wouldn't go anywhere else for Vietnamese around the area
I have been going to hoang dakao for about a year, eat here nearly every week and i only ever tried a maximum of 5 different dishes BECAUSE THERE ALL GOOD.
Pho - fresh sliced beef 9.2/10
Pork chop, egg, broken rice 9/10
Pork spring rolls w/Lettuce 7.9/10
Very low prices
Very high flavours
Big serving size
"Once i was on my lunch break in swinburne hawthorn campus. So i drove to get lunch from here. Yes i am crazy.
Fantastic food, very good value for money. Eating here at least once a week.... and it's getting better and better!
Good restaurant, will be in my top 3 restaurant that makes the best bun bo hue. Never had an issue with them. Food wise 4/5, drinks 4/5 and customer service, never spoke to them in english so I'm sit on fence with this one. I would say talking in Viet will be 5/5 Foods comes out pretty fast and decent pricing.
Since '98 this place became my favourite. They have the best spring rolls & fish sauce. The waiters dont speak much english which makes there service quiet poor. Once you order your food comes within 10mins. Cheap, fast service, great food!
Great pho but not so great service. I would have to say this is my favourite place to eat pho in Springvale. Their beef is always very thinly cut and the pho seems to be quite consistent in quality.
However, the service is unimpressive. It's next to impossible to get the waiters' attention, it's like they avoid eye contact with the customers. Once a girl mistook the order but didn't even seem apologetic.
The worst experience was when I went with a large group of friends, when we tried to get the waiters' attention, no one came to our service, as if they were deliberately avoiding us. We had to ask for extra green chilli 3 times before they begrudgingly slammed it on our table.
I also noticed that for a while, they watered down their hoisin sauce but it appears to be back to normal recently. The chilli sauce still seems watered down.
I will still frequent this joint for their delicious pho but if I experience more bad service I may have to try elsewhere.
Good Pho. Like it, quick and cheap!
Good Asian food. Cheap and easy. Food is good too. Service could be better but overall, its pretty good.
Been coming since forever. Usually packed. Good fast cheap. Friendly owners. Consistent quality
Newly renovated after the pandemic lockdown. After reading a few negative reviews, we ventured here to experience it ourselves.
Tables were clean, hot tea and cups were available on the tables.
The menu was very extensive. So many selections there.
Our order arrived in 10 minutes (yes I timed it).
Bun Rieu was tasty but less meat/toppings compare similar restos. The dried noodle with spicy chicken ribs was almost perfect. I would prefer less sauce on the noodle though. Mung bean drink was good, less sweet would be preferrable.
Overall it was a nice dining experience. I definitely will come back again to try other dishes on the menu.
Update Mar 2022:
Tried Crispy chicken with red rice. Really nice, they prepared the chicken right. I don't use the provided sweet sauce (sweet dish not my thing), instead use the house chilly sauce. Awesome combination. 5/5
The chilli lemongrass chicken is so delicious. There was a queue but it progressed quickly and the food was served within 15 min from ordering. Worth the wait. Will visit again 🤓
Quick service
Friendly staff
Lots of food choices
Just had a chicken soup
But next time surely would try more things
Thanks guys
Keep up the good work ✔️✔️✔️
Great food at a good price.
Had the bun bo hue and matcha frappe. The bun bo hue was great. The matcha frappe was bad.
Priced at around $15/dish.
Came here on a Sunday for lunch. Was seated promptly. Drinks came to the table promptly, food arrived in a reasonable amount of time. Satisfies the cravings for Vietnamese food. Card payment available. Will be back for more.
