Review Thạnh Phat - Springvale

Jilly Bean
Food fairly fresh and tasty. Service super slow. Meals for a group of 4 came out of the kitchen at staggered times, last person's meal arrived after repeated checking and when others were nearly finished. It might be best to avoid at peak times.

Food is definitely fresh. I found the food quite bland and tasteless. It actually became a chore to finish our meals. Food came out at staggered times. Actually got our mains before entree. Maybe the problem was I didn't really know what to order? Had cripsy skin chizken with rice and ordered spring rolls as entree. Won't be coming back unfortunately.

Learn to smile please. I got asked to move opposite my daughter, instead of next to her. I wanted to sit next to her. I was unapologetically asked to please move. SERIOUSLY, there was only us in the restaurant. If the place looked booked out I might not have minded. Food was given to us and not a word was said. It was like they were the walking undead. Liven up! Your food was good but I'm afraid that's not enough. I wouldn't come back. Hospitality. Look it up in an ENGLISH dictionary.

Very hygienic, fantastic foods, quick and efficient service. Deserves 10/10. If haven't tried this restaurant before give it a go and I bet you will love it.

Always a great experience. We've been eating here since its inception and the crew always deliver great food. We also order large orders for work and always good.

Family owned restaurant. My latest fav. springvale restaurant. They do the meanest chicken ribs with rice or in a noodle soup. Be sure to try the mouth watering crunchy Banh Khot!!! Like literally! Hygiene is 👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼 Thank you guys ♥️

Very friendly and helpful staff, large portions, great flavours. There are lots of good Vietnamese restaurants in Springvale but this one is definitely one of the best.
Ivan Desira
Food was really good, and restaurant very clean. Service was pleasant, plenty of high chairs for toddlers. Family enjoyed it.
Ruth Li
The broken rice here is excellent! Only let down is the service but nothing compares to the flavour and value you get for the broken rice dish. Highly recommended place.

Thanh Phat serves the type of food I grew up loving with an improvement upon presentation and a slight western twist without compromising on flavour. Cheap, yet good food. What's not to love?
Suburb Review
Decent place for some pork chops... wait time for the food was slightly longer than average. Pork chops had a real lemongrass flavour,. I still think my cambodia next door does the best pork chops. Good to try as this restaurant has exotic Vietnamese dishes on the menu.
Munching With Mel
Service is exceptional and surprisingly managed tp feed a whole family of 40, executing each dish without issues. I ordered the com tam suon bi combination and the fish sauce (nuoc mam) on top of the broken rice and toppings worked harmoniously together. However, meat was a bit on the tough side and sauce didnt taste as original as the traditional nuoc mam i had from vietnam. Egg was scrumptiously runny just the way I like it. The soup base for the other bowls is rather average compared to the soup bases in the west side but overall is a good cosy place for a big family.

We were searching for a restaurant large enough to cater a small group of us. Some of my favourite spots were packed and had lines snaking out so we ended up here.

I was craving for some BBH, in a way it satisifed me and at the same it didn't. The broth was nice and spicy with lots of lemongrass and was accompanied with mint and bean sprouts. I was hoping for a mixture of shredded greens which is typical for BBH which makes for a more complete meal and adds extra textures. Also could have been more meat or a chunk of pork knuckle!

My friends enjoyed their meals however but then again they have questionable taste in pho.

Don’t even deserve 1star, foods are ok however they have a big problem with the customer service! The waitress is so rude, we will never ever come back there again, if she doesn’t know how to serve the customer then shouldn’t go to work! There’s no smile, no friendly, walk away while we haven’t finished ordering, throw the menu on the table , so uneducated!

Thanh phat has awesome music. The food tastes good. I don't feel thirsty after I eat there compared to other springvale restaurants. I usually eat the Banh canh and Special fried rice from there. But the service, no smiles, looks like they don't want to be there. It is my go to restaurant though.

Great food! And good music, Very clean and modern restaurant and friendly staff. I ordered diced beef, it was tender and juicy, great ratio with the rice !

The food is quite good compared to other alternatives in the area. But if friendly customer service is what you’re looking for then you better do a 180 in the opposite direction. It wouldn’t hurt to smile and greet your customers.

Hands down the best Hainanese chicken on rice. Never in my years of living that I'd thought I'd cross paths with steamed chicken so succulent. The rice is also in it's own league, cooked in chicken stock & paired with the garlic, soy & shallot sauce; the dish has effectively paid for itself in just the rice itself. Ever since trying the Hainan Chicken at Thanh Phat I have not been able to try it anywhere else. This is the only dish I order when I come here & there is such a demand for it that they do sometimes ask you to order the dish 40 minutes in advance during peak hours.

Great restaurant, consistently serves fresh and quality tasting food with good service. Also provides a good variety of dishes to choose from. Highly recommend and would return.
Bun's Food Diaries
Had dinner here a couple of times, this place gains point for being more neat and tidy giving a better dining environment compared to many of the Vietnamese/Chinese restaurants in the area.

On this occasion my bun rieu was very average, my partner's chicken dish with rice was nice - chicken was soft and succulent.
With the three colour drink it seemed as though they were saving costs considering the ratio of crushed ice in there compared to cendol and red beans...taste wise it was alright though.
Where2Eat?
Clean. The waitress was cold and unfriendly. Food is bland, not authentic and lack of ingredients. For $12 noodle soup we get 5 mini fried tofu puffs and a couple of tomatoes. Their smoothie is diluted, runny and powdery. Doesn’t have a any real fruit taste. There are plenty of quality restaurants in Springvale with flavoursome dishes for the same price or less.

The customer service was very bad made us feel very unwelcome. The girl threw menus on table and got our food order wrong. Had no meat only fat in Pho Beef. Arrogant staff and average food will not be going back.
Classy
I took my father and aunty here as its close to our home and we love viatnamese, but it was such a huge disappointment. The service was terrible, the two girls are very rude and unwelcoming and the food was average. There is definitely an air of arrogance about the place as if we should be privileged to eat there. It doesnt work like that in Australia people... You have to earn our patronage by good service and good food, both that were severely lacking in this small, cold and harsh place. Get some people skills and a new chef.
Hesreto
one of the dirtiest places with the rudest service. they stand over you while you look at the menu to intimidate you into ordering quickly, do not help at all with drinks or food. only to be described as arrogance at its best. you can get good vietnamese food anywhere in springvale, why put up with the crap, average food, dirty plates, and dirty attitudes. not worth it
FoodMaster
Sloppy service, no greeting, slapped the menus on our tables and left. We waited 45 minutes for our food to come out, didn't know why it took this long when we were the only customers in there. Where they out hunting for the cow back there? Probs. Either way, not coming back here.
Foodtastycritic
Food was okay but the only reason I'm basing my ratings on 2.5 is the lack of service. There was no greetings, the waitress was snobby and I had put my hand up for an enquiry, she quickly looked at me and looked away. I would not recommend this place, there are other better restaurants in springvale
Ira
I am not gonna come to this place never ever again! We waited our meal for 50 minutes. Just waste of my time! Floor staffs were so rude and very slow!! I wouldn't recommend this place!
Bee
Absolutely horrible and rude service. Sloppy and just made the whole dining experience unpleasant. The place reeked of arrogance and self-entitlement when their food was bland and less than appealing.

Staff couldn’t even get simple drinks order right. We asked for iced water and were given tea with ice thrown in it and then charged $1 a glass with one of the girls arguing that that was what we had asked for.

Although food looked somewhat presentable the time that it took for each meal to come out was not worth it, neither was the taste. Don’t let the photos fool you. There was at least 15 minutes between the dishes with each dish taking 30 minutes or longer to cook.

Do Springvale a favour and close your restaurant.

My new go-to Vietnamese restaurant in Springvale now that the Thanh Dat has sadly closed. The food here is very good and very well priced. The atmosphere is pleasant and the staff are fine. It's also very well placed; very close to the station.

Quick dinner down in Springvale and decided to try this place out. You can't go wrong with broken rice, (com tam) tasted nice and was surprised by the fried pork crackling on top! Also had 3 colour drink (che ba mau) which also went well with the meal.

Good place for trying out or revisiting some Vietnamese street food. Portions are alright but quite filling considering that I ate a variety of foods. Not quite exactly the same tastes obviously but authentic enough😊
Chocobunbun
The food here is always fresh and tasty.
The prices are really good and a decent serving size. My favourite is the banh khot for entree however don't expect too much customer service
Diep Dan
The food i tried was below average and its expensive for the size. I ordered and they say 15min, i came after 15min and wait for 20min more. Bun rieu has 1 crab meat ball, the flavor is bland. Never come back

Food was served 40mins late and after we were ready to go our last meal comes out 30mins later. No apologies we were running behind, just advise to pay/take it away. The owner has no communication/ customer service skills and thought a $10 meal would break his business. Poor form. Feedback to owner - Telling someone you have one chef on is not the customers issue. When you resolve issues you talk to the customer not to your audience. Very disrespectful. Get skilled or else youll loose more customers.

This place is one of my regular restaurants as I am a local resident so have tried a few of their dishes. Their combination pork rice dish is my go to dish and reasonably priced at $10. The shaking beef dish is also good. Best to stay away from the noodle dishes as there are better places elsewhere. Serving size seems to have become smaller recently but still should feed your hungry stomach. Worth a try if you are in the area.

Oh wow!! When was this place opened?!
I was so surprised that this place has Bo Ne! I thought my friend was trolling me when he asks if I want to go eat Bo Ne.
This brings back so much memories to few years ago at myy trip to vietnam where my cousin had a tiny restaurant that serves Bo Ne and Bubble Tea in Saigon!

$16 for a steak meat, an egg, beef...pate? And goat cheese! Plus they give you a tiny bowl of salad and really nice fresh crispy bread roll! It filled me up completely! I'm a major salad fan but the salad has too much dressing on it! But I believe that its worth it since the meat cut was pretty thick, and was cooked well, didnt over cooked when I took my time taking photos of it! Not to mention theres Mushroom and onion on its sauce! Would definitely go again for it but ill try ask to put less dressing on the salad!

Had a Fresh Coconut for $5. Errrr...preferably should not have ordered that.

Okay, dont get me started on the Banh Trang Tron. Small portion for $6 and maybe Australia "Kho Bo" isnt as best as the vietnam ones but it still hit home to me. Yay for two quail eggs! What would have been better is....freshly slice mangos were to add in it...yes but sadly there wasnt so its was pretty plain. Seasoning was okay but I feel like theres more seasoning and peanuts than the rice paper. And i was sharing it too. So wouldn't recommend choosing it if u were to share it! You can first try it for experience but i believe you wouldnt want to order it the second time!

So many food on the menu that makes you miss your parents home country heaps!!! I'll definitely come back and try heaps of food there, like Corn fry in butter and especially Che Khuc Bac! (vietnamese Panna Cotta!) not to mention they do Pho, Bun Mam, Broken Rice and many other true Vietnam food!!
Duonghuynhtranchau
Clean and service is Ok. But the food was not very tasty. The lotus salad was too sour (too much vinegar) and Bun Mam no taste at all. Bun Bo Hue and broken rice was just OK. BANH TRANG TRON was too much sauce.
Won't come back

Very Modern and Family Friendly Restaurant, targeting mostly young couples - teens or young adults. Food is very cheap and very tasty. Good for On the Go. Service is above average.

Clean well lit placw to eat Asian food in Springvale. Must have just opened. Cleanliness is above average. Food is cheap and tasty. I had the soy chicken rice.
Cookielessvee
Well lit modern interior with relaxing music. Friendly service and food comes out quite quick. Broken rice is favoursome and well presented. Rice paper rolls are thick and filling consisting of mint, lettuce, vermicelli, pork and prawn. Mini pancakes are a bit too deep fried but tasty. Drinks are alright, though the blue heaven just tastes like lemonade. Pricing wise, slightly cheaper than other places around. Overall a good experience.

I just recently discovered this little restaurant at Springvale and I'm glad I did! My favourite dish is the Double Pork Chops Broken Rice with the occasional spring rolls (I LOVE SPRING ROLLS!) and no matter how many time I've ordered this dish, the first bite never disappoints.
FatMan Package
We love the broken rice here! You get pork chop, egg on rice, veggies pork meat loaf and soup all for $10 it's a winner! Def worth a visit.

Springvale has an enviable problem that I wish existed in my backyard of Glen Waverley - Deciding where to eat because you are spoilt for choice when it comes to good eateries. For some reason when it comes to non-pho dining, I always find myself back at Thanh Phat. Maybe I'm just pining for the Cambodian noodles which were my favourite from the previous tenant Ming Thai. Damn they made a good one. Anyway, I digress.

Come to Thanh Phat for the com tam, broken rice. Come to Thanh Phat for the bun rieu with the delicious stinky fermented fish paste. Just don't come here for their fried noodles. I found it not up to standard, but everything else is pretty decent.

Decided to try this place as the decor is modern and the restaurant looked clean. All tables were full when we came in for a late lunch. It was noted that all the customers were young people, and no families came in to dine. This to me indicates that perhaps the dishes aren't authentic in taste.
We put in our order and the waiter informed me that order would take a little longer than usual. I appreciated the heads up however as we waited for our food, I noticed that a table of 3 people that came in after us got all their dishes before us. My mum did not find the bun bo hue, spicy beef noodle soup dish authentic. The soup had lemongrass in it but didn't taste right. Also, the amount of noodles in the soup was minimal compared to other restaurants. My fried rice noodle with chicken was okay but I know another restaurant down the street that does it better.
Would I come back? I would give them another try. It wasn't bad.

A modern looking place in Springvale with a bright green sign, making it stand out from the other restaurants. I don't think it's been open for long but it's clean, modern decor may draw people like me in. I ordered their steak which came on a sizzling plate with mushroom sauce, onions, a block of homemade pate, cream cheese and a fried egg. It was complimented with a salad and a roll of fresh bread which they heated up - I thought that was a nice touch as I do like warmly toasted bread. It actually all went really well together and I thoroughly enjoyed it. For $16 it was well worth it for a steak. Their bun rieu is also quite good too. Just don't order their juices as they claim to have fresh juices but they're not, they are straight out of a bottle. I ordered the cranberry juice and it tasted like syrup and was sickly sweet. So stick to tea and you'll be fine.

Awesome Fresh food!. Loved the food, love the service...haven't been disappointed yet!
Everything we have ordered is so fresh and meals arrived quickly!

Amazing service! Definitely a stand out thing. Booked my dad's birthday here for 11 people and they were very accommodating and were always there to ensure food and drinks were always flowing and food arrived quickly too! Not to mention good was delish!! They even dimmed the lights and brought out the cake and everyone in the restaurant sang happy birthday.

Great Vietnamese food especially Khot pancake and Bánh canh. Flower Crab Rice Starch Noodle Soup and Khot pancake are the two must try when you come to this restaurant. Very tasty, very original :D:D:D Highly recommend.
