Review Pho Hoang - Springvale

Peter Nguyen
I had no issues here! The pho was good and it tasted very authentic. It was not priced at $15 so quite happy.

Great place for a Pho. Tasty, fast and good service. My breakfast go to!

This place was a surprise. I resisted going here and was trying to go next door which was a famous pho place but the line for next door was so long and my buddy wasn't prepared to wait so he dragged me kicking and screaming to this place. He ordered the combination pho whilst I ordered Chili and salt calamari, spring rolls and dry noodle beef. The pho came first and I asked to try it wanting to crow about how I would of been right to wait.. but it was good. The noodles were perfectly cooked, nice and slippery with right texture. Broth great lots of meat all perfectly cooked. I was shocked.. then came the spring rolls.. perfectly crunchy and delicate and the vegetables fresh. The squid was not over cooked as often happens.. and the beef noodles were enormous and with the perfect charring on the noodles. To top it all off, the service was great! What the heck? That doesn't happen in good asian restaurants... so.. this was a surprise.. I deeply recommend u put this on Ur try if u live in the area

Great Pho place in Springvale, just outside the main markets. I've tried a few in the area and this one is probably the best one out of all. Silky rice noodles, great broth and good cuts of meat. Not as busy as the other ones on the area.

Fantastic wagu beef pho. Highly recommend it.

We were served by an unprofessional cashier upon paying our bills, didn't know basic manners and forced us to pay cash when the center's closed. Please stop avoiding taxes and clean the toilets.

Good Pho, I had the beef and beef balls. Really nice tasting soup.

This place has one of the best pho. But I won't be coming back to this place ever again due to the unprofessional cashier and waiter. I felt like I owed them something because whenever I request extra sauce, they don't like it. The look on the staff face and expression to customer is just over all sad. And it is just not one time, it happened about a few times mow. This is so annoying to deal with and I am not taking any of it. Peace out. Ps. To the cashier: Are you ok? If you hate ur job so much please just quit.

A favourite when in Springvale. Great variety at very reasonable prices and the dishes are always consistently full of flavour and generous in portions. Staff are warm and quick to attention. Popular place with steady clientele.

Amazing pho and spring rolls! Visited over the long weekend and the place was packed. We had the pho, prawn spring rolls and salt and pepper squid and they were really good. The pho was good and the soup was really nice.<br/><br/>The prawn spring rolls are a must! Loved the textures and the flavours. Will definitely be back for my pho fix when I'm in the area

the pho was beautiful and very flavourful especially if you add both sauces. For a first comer, it was very good

My bf and I love eating pho here, the broth is thick, full of flavour and the meat portions is generous, plus you don’t need to line up in the cold to eat 🙄. Would highly recommend!

I love pho! As I was passing through Springvale, the home of pho in Melbourne, I thought that I would take the opportunity to sample my favourite breakfast meal. But where to go? I was faced with what seemed like a never ending row of similar looking pho restaurants. I decided to follow my usual rule of going for the busiest looking restaurant. I landed at Pho Hoang Bo Ga. <br/><br/>Even at 830 in the morning the place was buzzing, full of retired men, University students and construction workers. My go to dish for pho is the chicken special. This version abounded with liver, heart, egg and chicken breast with bouncy white rice noodles held within a pleasantly salty and umami filled clear chicken stock. <br/><br/>The only (mild) disappointment were the rather tasteless and crunchless pickled onions which accompanied the meal. A strangely eerie echo from 2 televisions both tuned to the same channel but slightly out of sync was a mild distraction. Overall a lovely pho experience which ranks with one of the best.

I brought my daughter to have a very nice brunch here, the taste of THUC DON was really good, the one I ordered was 14. BOGA, and I will definitely come back to try others next time.

Went to this restaurant for lunch with my partner. Good portion size and food tasted alright. Half way through our meal we found dead COCKROACH in our noodle soup. we complained to the waitress staight away and they took it back to the kitchen. She asked if we wanted another bowl but OBVIOUSLY we didnt want to eat it. We stoped eating other dishes as soon as we found out and we felt sick. The waitess apologized but they still charged us the price of other dishes and we left after paying. I think its ridiculous that they keep their hygiene to this level and we would NOT go back to this restaurant. There’s plenty of other Vietnamese restaurants which are much more clean and better food.

Keeping warm on a chilly weekend. Went to try a different pho restaurant down in Springy. Bottomless onion condiments, fresh chillies and one of the best chilli oil in the biz. Broth was rich and hot enough to cook the raw beef, flavours were very authentic slightly overpowering and service was super fast.

Lovely pho place in Springvale, nice service and great pho. We typically get the sliced rare beef in a size medium. The menu on the wall is in Chinese or Vietnamese so if you can't read it ask them for an English menu. Only downside is cash only, so make sure you withdraw beforehand if you don't have some on you. Great food, sugarcane juice is delicious too.
@foodtom
The pho here is authentic, it has a nice serving of noodles and meat together. Pho was nice and hot, perfect for winter days, I want to come back for more.<br/>Service is prompt and meals always do come out quickly

Delicious bun bo hue and pho every time. Service is incredibly fast! And the staff and very friendly. Just be aware that this place doesn’t accept card so definitely bring cash!
Love Food
A friend recommended this establishment <br/>I actually have been here many years ago. <br/>This time too, it doesn’t disappoint <br/>I came with a child and staff straight away offer a portable child’s seat. Very nice! <br/>We ordered beef pho, it came with lots of fresh bean shoots. The pho is hot enough to cook the bean shoots. <br/>Totally love the beef which is super tender and nice. Especially love the garlic chili oil. It’s sooo yummmmm, combined with hoisin sauce on the meat, yumx2. <br/>Will come back

Had a great bowl of beef pho here. The broth was deliciously sweet, beef slices tender and beef balls very tasty. It also came with a generous plate of beanshoots and basil. The three colour drink was equally satisfying although the electric green of the "noodles" in the drink left a lot to be desired. Overall you can expect a delicious comforting bowl of pho here for a reasonable $11 and not having to queue for a table is an added bonus.

Best place I’ve had pho in Melbourne. It doesn’t compare to “Pho An” in Sydney but it definitely is right up there. Service is shocking but the food quality is on point.

This place was told by Vietnamese friend and found it is the best pho in Melbourne for me. It is much better than I love Pho in Richmond even Richmond is much closer for me. The place a bit slippery, noisey and dirty but it doesn't affect me to have a bowl of pho here. If you said it put too much MSG and service is shit, don't come. If you said it puts too much MSG, don't come and don't touch Asian food, even KFC puts MSG in their chicken. This place is not for the fussy people.

Hands down my favourite Pho place in Springvale as of now. Also has the best sugar cane juice and asian yoghurt. The bun bo hue here is good too, not too oily like other places.
Pho Sure
Bun bo hue! Bun bo hue! This is all you need to say at this establishment. Will be back (and already have)! Normal service. Great taste (maybe msg). Quality ingredients.

I find the pho here very authentic and I love the pickled onions on the side. It's not a fancy place but it's real. And the price is decent for the portion served. The soup are very tasty and not msg ridden. The staff are not fleunt in English but enough to know what you need! 👍🏻
Larry Ma
Nice pho but the place was a bit dirty. Won't hurt but definitely take away some points...<br/><br/>Coffee also nice and not many MSG as I don't feel thirsty after meal. Hope they can improve cleanliness

My partner and I went here last Friday. We stumbled on this place by accident, and wow the pho was amazing! The service was great, when we walked in we were seated straight away. We ordered the chicken and beef pho and an avocado smoothie. The broth was beautifully aromatic, the meat was so tender and the noodles were cooked to perfection. At $10 each bowl it is also very cheap. I highly recommend to try this place!

My go-to pho/bbh joint. I've been on the hunt for better pho/bbh in Springvale but nothing compares. Ample meat and such flavoursome broth. Never fails to disappoint!
Khpn
We had dinner here on the weekend because we wanted to try something new and also because i have been on the hunt for another good bbh venue. We ordered a banh canh with prawn and pork and a bbh. I must day the bbh is pretty damn good. I would go as far to say it is one of the best in springvale and i have had eaten at alot pho places here in search for a good bbh. The banh canh was full of flavour and the noodles were chewy. Ok service great food

Decided for Vietnamese beef rice noodles this evening, the beef was tender, noodles tasty. Would like to try the lemongrass chicken next time as it looked really good

I come here often as this is my parents' and relatives' preferred place...all because of those sweet pickled onions they are thoughful enough to leave on the table. If Pho Hung was not in the area, this would be my favourite pho place. Broth is always steaming hot, consistenty tasty, right amount of noodles-broth-protein ratio and herbs have always been fresh. Complete set of condiments to choose from and sauce bowls available at table to save from asking. Place can get cramped and loud real fast but service is quick so we don't often linger.<br/><br/>SERVICE: 3/5<br/><br/>FOOD: 4/5<br/><br/>DECOR & AMBIENCE: 3/5<br/><br/>KID FRIENDLY: No, crowded. Unless you dont mind sitting outside and hope for no smokers.
David Chen
Good service and nice price. And lots of sauces are well prepared like onion which is sweet. The amount is enough and the taste is nice, too. A good restaurant to.have pho. <br/>But the taste drop a little bit the beef taste like over cooked and not so fresh
Vizzy
People are getting confused. Pho Hoang Bo Ga on Buckingham Avenue only serves pho and is great. Pho Dakao Hoang on Balmoral Avenue is around the corner and serves pho and rice dishes. It's horrible though.
FOOD TRIP
Another pho place to try out in Springvale. Restaurant itself is quite messy, tables are sticky and overall not too clean. The food is average, BUT value and quality for their Three Colour Drink! Definitely recommend! . Three Colour Drink $2.50. Cheapest Three Colour Drink I’ve had in Melbourne! Same price as the takeaway boxes available from the Asian grocery stores. Also very generous with the green jellies and other condiments. Definitely will come back for this one. 9/10
Janet Duong
my family eat here all the time. good prices (as is the norm for springvale), generous portions and all very yummy. sweet and sour pork is crispy which a decent amount of meat inside (very different to the stuff at shopping centres) and the rice with bo luc lac, a marinated meat is a oldie but a goodie. Its also very good with dry noodles
Porkypig
Not quite a 5/5 as the restaurant could be cleaner as we found some of the cutlery dirty. But if you want good phu at the standard ten dollar price tag you could do much worse.

The restaurant wasnt too clean, tables still had cups and bowls from previous customers still on table and when we went to sit down they still havent clean the table for us. The food was average and so was the drink, the staff were nice but werent the best. <br/>Dont recommend this restaurant.

A fantastic place. I always go down here on the weekend and order a bowl of pho or bun bo hue. Pho is amazing and so is the bun bo hue. Probably the best place in springvale for pho. The texture of the pho is smooth and goes down well. <br/><br/>Service is alright. The owner recognises my face. I go in and go out after a good meal. <br/><br/>I recomend this place and you would like to a good tasting restaurant.
Stevotango
One of the restaurant that i always go to when i am in Springvale with my 1.5 year old, as it's very hard to find baby/pram friendly restaurant around. Pho Hoang is spacious and has many Vietnamese and Chinese cusine on the menu. Bun Bo Hue and pork spare ribs with tomato rice is probably my favorite!
Lily Isabella Parker
Overrated, but very authentic as with all Vietnamese cuisine in Springvale. I've found the ingredients to be of lesser quality and less flavoursome than hoa Tran around the corner, but better than moon diem hen. Portion sizes are standard, very good value for money, poor service. Would eat here if I wasn't super hungry. Eh.

Been coming to this place ever since I can remember. Love the food here, recommend the special broken rice, and special beef pho. Both quite standard Vietnamese choices and they do I well. The smoothies here are Amazing! Made from real fruit and super refreshing.<br/>

It's been awhile since I last ate here.. a bit runned down and you'd be tight pressed for elbow space if against the wall... it still gives off the typical we don't give a sh?t vibe but the food I have to say is still not bad! The pho is somewhat like homemade.. I still took a liking to it though. Also tried the beef brisket egg noodles.. this I reckon was quite gd the only thing I would say is that they could have cooked the brisket a bit longer for my liking.. <br/><br/>//dt

We ordered the vermicelli beef and pork soup and was disappointed that it had liver and tendon in it! The soul was nice however it should have specified that there was offal, otherwise I wouldn't have ordered it. The lemongrass chicken was underwhelming as there wasn't much of a lemongrass flavour. I would give this place a second chance, but probably not a third.
Ilias Tsiphlidis
Yup, they do no speak much English and it is true they only really serve pho. It is among the best pho I ever had. The broth, which is the most critical component in the soup is amazing. I usually get the beef and beef ball, the service is quick and the prices typical for a place like this with a medium bowl costing about $8.
Waka4000
I WARN YOU. STAY AWAY AT ALL COSTS. I wanted to try sonething different for a change, so i went to this restraunt. Firstly, all they serve is soup, which wasnt even specified anywhere. When i asked for chicken and rice, the waitresses brought out a soup. They didnt even speak English. i decided to have this disgusting meal anyway when this man walks into the store with a trolley full of meat like he didnt even care. It was so unhygenic and disgusting. I forced this disgusting meal down in disgust until the same man comes back through the entrance with trash. What the hell. People are eating and they do this. Absolutley disgusting.

Best Beef noodle soup I ever had!. Might be the best Vietnamese beef noodle soup I ever had! Just be aware they close early, about 8.30 I think.

Great pho. Delightful service

Very very very good pho.

I ordered a bowl of Bun Bo Hue and specifically asked for no pork. The waitress was barely paying attention. She returned with a noodle soup that had a clear broth with assorted meats, clearly not my dish. I brought this up with the same waitress who reluctantly passed me some chilli sauce to compensate(really?). After some debate, she took the bowls away then came back with clearly the same dish with added chilli sauce and without the pork meat. This is poor form, I was being as polite as I could through the whole process. I am not returning here.

Good food, very clean and clean kitchen but too much MSG. Have eaten here twice in the last week, first time was on a Sunday afternoon with a shocking hangover, the rare beef Pho with lots of chilli did the trick and fixed the hangover issue and well as being absolutely beautiful, no way of determining if it was MSG or the hangover for the thirst, definitely made me feel so much better. Eat there again this week and had the Bun Bo Hue (without pigs blood), absolutely great, loved the whole thing but was thirsty for the next two hours, just a little less MSG and this would be one of my favourite restaurants in Springvale.

Used to be good, not amymore. Service is crap and food is mediocre!<br/>Used to be my go to spot now its HOA TRAN.<br/>Only go here if the other restaurants are full!
Daiz33
Too busy on weekend. My partner and I had two sit with 2 other customers at one table (they didn't know each other either). Food is mediocre too. Not worth the trip of you don't live in the area.
Dishboydreaming
Far too much MSG in this pho.. I'm heading back to Victoria street...
Ezio Hungary
One of the best. I believe they do one of the best Pho ever in Melbourne apart from I love Pho 264.
John Boxall
Best. Pho. Ever.. Title says it all. All Pho, all day - nothing else on the menu. Open from 7am!<br/><br/>[update] returned a few days later - still the same, and much easier to park on a weekday!

Took the family there for first foray into the world of pho. Very successful! All fresh & yummy, tables clean, drinks good too. Kids especially enjoyed watching the sugar cane being juiced on the premises. Would happily recommend.
The Hungry Hippo
Pho kin great. Huge tasty bowls of pho goodness. Fresh flavored stock, zinging herbs and great plum sauce.

Definately the best pho in Melbourne. If you ever had awesome home made pho, then this place is the closest thing you can get to it! Definitely the best pho restaurant in Melbourne and perhaps all of Australia.
Theycallmemaggie
And me? I’m not the biggest pho fan to begin with, so I decided to go in a different direction (but not really) and order the wonton noodles. The MSG-laden soup was quite sweet and salty, and while the familiar taste was pleasant at first, it soon became too much for my taste buds.
