Review Sushi Shark - Springvale

Food is super fantastic ! I almost have sushi shark twice a week. My favorite dish is Crispy Chicken Curry. It makes me remind those days in Japan !!!

I ordered this at sushi shark tonight and this dish looks nothing like what’s advertised. Rice was socky, tofu wasn’t even fried properly. The whole dish looked like a kid prepared it in a hurry. Really disappointed. First time order and last time order.

Ordered the platter online. 15 mins later when I got there, worker said they didn’t get the order. Had to wait extra 10 mins for it after I showed them the email. Got home and the rice in the sushi is not cooked fully. You can see the some solid white in the sushi rice.

Food is not worth the cost especially the sushi, idk what they do to the seaweed for the rolls but all the time it taste bad. The fish is not fresh and the taste is unpleasant. If u have the option to order somewhere else please do. Also not sure if this is their fault but, always delivery take ages and i live 5 mins away. Today my raw sushi was delivered to me cooked.

Have been ordering from here since last year - but as the time goes by I found out that their food are not consistent i.e sometimes I was given egg for the bento and sometimes not. Today was the worst, there was a bug in my rice!!! Disappointed.

Food was great. Service was good too. Curry was great as was the ramen. The only criticism that I have is that the meals should be a bit bigger as we we're still a bit hungry after. Edit: portions feel like they have been adjusted. Very satisfying the last few times. Also, crispy chicken curry takeaway was great too. They separate it all so its still good on the other end. Very happy with this place.

i ordered with uber eats and waited almost two hours only for the order to be cancelled! ridiculous and very appalling! i understand during COVID19 times it may take a little longer but having to wait two whole hours to receive any notification that my food is no longer coming is disgusting service

Try Shushi Shark for the first time. Food is on pricey side . However the fish and avocado was not fresh. The rolls fell like they been refrigerated for few days. I tried my best to fisnish my food. First but also last.

Price is not cheap. Service is going down. The guy at the front was good. Now a bunch of girls who never smile or deliver any decent customer service.

Food portion is value for money! However the cook needs to put some effort in making the food taste better. I.e The curry is too salty for consumption. Same goes to the bento eggs.

It took me a moment to work out where Sushi Shark was, the neighboring restaurant are not the same cuisine. But I do believe this is one of the few Japanese places in the area.
I initially wanted to come for the Japanese curry but found I was running late to an appointment. I'll update again once I'm able to try the curry and compare it to the other restaurants in the area that offer it (Dessert Culture, Haysung, etc).

I was only able to pick up handrolls (chicken and cucumber teriyaki as well as one spicy chicken) adding up to $5.60. The general amount I had expected. They were very filling and good value for money. Rice was perfect, rolls neat and tucked and full.

Staff was friendly but it wasn't exactly customer service forward. No big smiles or welcoming persona. End of the day, customer service is bent on relieving the anxiety of the customer and, I didn't quite get that.

Good clean presentation, they've made great use of their space.

I have ordered them a few times on Uber Eats and they haven't disappointed at all! They really don't lie when they say it's fresh salmon, it's a lot better than many quick sushi takeaway places. I find ordering in the morning is when you'll get the best quality since it would be just freshly made.

A nice Japanese option in Springvale with friendly staff and anime on TV.
The sushi rolls are standard but tasty none the less. My favourite however is the Katsu Curry which comes in a generously sized portion.

It takes quite a bit of courage to plop a Japanese restaurant right in the middle of Springvale, although it doesn't necessarily cater for the demographic it provides an alternative for those seeking something different.

I get one of their happy boxes takeaway, I pop the lid open and the sushi was well constructed and nicely presented. The salmon nigiri was the clear winner and just melted in my mouth. Be weary of their wasabi in a packet, that literally made my eyes water it was that potent! The prawn nigiri were decent also.

The Californian roll (inside out) was encrusted with a generous amount of fish roe, only downer was the imitation crab meat commonly used in this type of sushi which I'm impartial to. To the side was a small serving of seaweed salad.

Impressed by their food, authentic or not. Would love to come back and try one of their non-sushi meals.

Now for the first thing I should declare when going to this restaurant, get rid of of your first look of judgment because don’t judge the book by its cover.

This place is pretty damn good for being a Japanese restaurant in springvale (because that’s the only Japanese restaurant in a Vietnamese/Chinese/Cambodian district) and I appreciate another culture, a place you never seen before here! So +1 star for being brave for starting a Japanese restaurant in springvale!

Mind that the lady who served me was timid and has minimal English due to experience with customer, I had forgotten this was springvale. But it was fine, service is service, they tried. Plus one!

There’s only one person working trying hard prepare the food also having to do customer service, that’s something I acknowledge. The dishes in the photos may look small, but when she comes out with your food, you’d be surprised what you get for $10!

All the dishes were huge, which me and my friends did not expect at all because we had doubts about the place since it was new.

My first dish was the Udon Chicken Katsu, the broth I tasted first was fine, just a bit watery but has flavour, the noodles were soft to close perfection but could spend a bit more time in the water. The chicken was crunchy on the outside but very juicy and soft inside which was spectacular!

The second thing I had was the Chicken Katsu Curry, the chicken, oh my lord Buddha god gracious, I appreciate chicken, but damnn, the size of the pieces of chicken was massive, at least 10 cm in length and the width is at most 3cm, and this is for one of the pieces that was cut up. It’s a great steal if you want to have a cheap and fulfilling meal!

Overall this place had a great sense of vibe, with anime playing in the tv of course in Japanese, but everyone should know One Piece right now. Loving it playing in the background. I love this place already, I’d keep going to it until a new Japanese restaurant opens up in springvale. Hopefully this one stays for a while.

The front sign was enough to draw me into the the store, the anime on the tv readied my tastebuds for a temporary journey to japan. The staff (or owners) were very wholesome and friendly, they also made the decision process a lot easier. The sushi tasted delicious and fresh, it had a good amount of spice which was not too empowering. Kudos to some decent sushi in Springvale 👌

Being the only sushi joint in Springvale I had my doubts. This by far is the worst sushi I’ve ever had in my life. Deceiving customers as they place fresh avocado on top and proceeding to put the rotten old avocado hidden in the sushi rolls. Don’t waste your money here.

Another new eatery up in the Eastern side, owned by a lovely husband and wife duo is a smallish Japanese cafe/restaurant good enough for a quick eat and go. Bright atmosphere with a few cute asian cartoon figurines as interior.

Serving size huge and Curry sauce packed 🥊 full of flavour but not a fan of the breading on the chicken; Udon broth flavoursome and noodles cooked to perfection . Fresh sushi made daily and the 4 for $10 deal is a winner

📸: Fried Chicken Curry & Rice, Crispy Chicken Udon Soup, Teriyaki Chicken Bento.

Sushi shark is a newly opened sushi store opened on the springvale central strip.

Sushi rolls are small in size and have minimal filling but full of flavour.

Chicken sushi is decent with compressed rice and slightly sweet.

The staff are friendly and limited seats in the store.
